Totally impressed with this cute place. We ate in the secret garden area during brunch. I saw cute little dogs coming and going. I love you can bring your dog with you! The food was delicious. I wish I ordered some coffee because those drinks they were serving looked delicious.. Next time!!

Excellent. The actual interior is so awesome. It has shoes hanging from the ceiling and stuff. Everyone was super chill and cool. I wish could just live here with all the food and people. Latte - really good Bacon, egg, cheese on an everything bagel - Amazing, all the flavor fit together perfectly. Pretty hardy too.

great concept, friendly service and unique/delicious menu selection. the only thing I'm disappointed in is the fact I'm just now finding out about it!

Nice gem! The beer garden has a great relaxing vibe and live music. Staff is very friendly. Very family friendly and a good time for all.

What an awesome place! Came here to celebrate D's b-day. This neighborhood is so cute. Reminds me of Shepherdstown and a bit of Nashville. Metered street parking is available. We came here on a Sunday for dinner and parking is free on Sundays, sweet! This place is broken down to 3 parts. Upon entering you will see the the coffee shop. Upstairs is an intimate dinning room. Right beside the restaurant, there is a secret garden outside. It's such a cute and relaxed area, definitely check it out. So pretty at night. Our server was the sweetest. She was patient, attentive, and helpful. Every employee I came across was friendly and all smiles. Restrooms are located in their cafe as well as upstairs in the dinning room area. We ordered 3 appetizers to share and they were all very well prepared. Flavorful and fresh. They were super generous portions for "tapas and small plates." Everyone enjoyed their entrees and we all left nice and full. Fun times.

I'm trying to give a neutral rating here based on customer service, not food. We were looking for a late breakfast on Labor Day and called ahead to make sure we were a go. Who ever answered the phone confirmed "breakfast all day." Well an hour in the car later and we're ordering breakfast to be met with "sorry, we're no longer serving breakfast today." Really... We explained that we'd called ahead and the gentleman who answered assured us we could still get breakfast. This was met with a shrug and a "I don't know why they'd have said that." Yeah, me either. They'd didn't offer to check with the chef to see if there was something he could do since we'd been given bad info. So we were boned. Won't be back

I work around the corner and every time I walk into Shoes for Lunch..I curse myself. I have carried out lunch multiple times and lunched in the garden once. The food is ok. It lacks consistency. The prices are high. The wait is ridiculous. On the last three occasions I have waited a minimum of 30 minutes for my food twice. One of which was the kitchen only needing to slice the tomato and mozzarella for my caprese salad. The excuse was always that they are bombed in the back. By no means do I expect "fast" food, but I do expect a reasonable wait. So, until they learn how to keep reasonable ticket times...I'll be giving my lunch business to other restaurants in the area. Maybe they don't want carry-out business as they did take the "waiting" bench away. So, now I'd have to wait 30 minutes and be uncomfortable doing it. No, Thank you.

What a cute little place! It was a nice day outside, so we decided to sit outside. We were led to an alleyway that looked a little sketch, but once we got to the back, it was a nice surprise to see such a pretty set up. Our waitress was nice and attentive but not overwhelming. Always a plus. I decided to go for the local omelette. It was pretty good. But nothing really stood out. What I can say though is that it was pretty filling and though I was planning on getting some of their homemade ice cream, I sadly did not have any room for it. I also got an iced caramel latte. Not bad but also not the best I've tasted. All in all, it was a good experience. No big complaints here =)

I stopped by Shoe's on the way back from a hike on the Appalachian Trail. We sat in Shoe's Secret Garden; to the left of the restaurant, there is a thin pathway to the back. Pros - Downtown Leesburg is cute, clean, and quiet. - The back outdoor patio is gorgeous. A beautiful archway welcomes you in. Various styles of patio furniture, huge sun umbrellas, and outdoor games. - Live music. Half way through our meal, a guitarist played and sang at the far end of the backyard. - Pretty good menu of sandwiches and salads. - Free wifi; ask for password Cons - Depending on who you are, this can be a pro or a con. There were a lot of little kids, maybe 15 in total, running and screaming around outside. I'm so used to DC restaurants where children are nonexistent. - It has a lot to do with the previous bullet, but it can get loud. - For the price, I expected more food on my plate. What I got - Veritable vegetable sandwich: Red onion, tomato, avocado, sprouts, herb goat cheese on a croissant, $11 - "The Sandal" smoothie with OJ, yogurt, mango and peach, $5 What I thought Shoe's is a hip cafe that's worth a visit. The ambience is great and the food is tasty. They have great appetizers and shared plates as well. The atmosphere is relaxing for the most part, if you ignore the loud squeals of elementary school children.

Great place to have a glass of wine, in there Secret Garden. Just a fun place to hang out and play some Bocci Ball. Highly recommend.

Went in for brunch, it wasn't terribly busy and it looked like they had enough staff but service was on the slower side. The one thing that disappointed me the most was their food. I got the poached eggs and they were cold! Not only was my food cold but it wasn't seasoned whatsoever and took about 10 more minutes to get salt and pepper for already cold food. Not worth it for the price. Service was good and the environment is cool but it's just overpriced and not worth it. Go somewhere else for brunch.

Service: 4 stars Food: 2 stars This place (well, so is the rest of the town of Leesburg) is super cute! Nice little place for coffee and desserts for yourself or with a friend. My friend said that their food is usually excellent, but I wasn't really impressed. I ordered the LunchBox Special of BBQ and Slaw on Brioche. The Brioche bun was cold and hard...and so was the BBQ and slaw inside it. They heated it up for me, but the BBQ was a bit too vinegar and too little spice for me. Also a bit more slaw would have been nice to balance the amount of meat and ginormous Brioche bun. Desserts were nice, but more on the American-style sugary-sweet.

7.99 for chicken salad on croissant Mango orange chicken salad Mixed greens in vinaigrette on side Have had latte and cider donuts which were both delish

Mixed bag here. Has been one of my favorite places in town. Ambience, food , service. Really gone downhill since the management changed Try the caramel latte , white chocolate scone & the apricot , grilled chicken & Brie panini.

Two words - secret garden! Follow the alleyway to the left of the entrance to find a lovely outdoor seating area and bocce ball court. We stopped in for a bite for lunch while wandering the Leesburg flower and garden show. We wandered up the alley to see about being seated and were accommodated right away with a high top next to the bocce ball court. The garden area is so cute and inviting. Love the little storage house at the rear of the garden they call "grandma's house". Our server was quite friendly and very prompt in bringing refills of drinks. They had a decent selection of wines for such a small place with a good number of local options as well. My only complaint is that it took a very long time for our food to come out. My husband and I ordered two salads, and waited at least 45 minutes. Our server was extremely apologetic. However, we found our break in the garden so relaxing, we just decided to have another glass of wine and wait - not worth complaining. We ordered the Tomato Caprese and Tuscan Salad. Both salads were delicious. The Caprese featured fresh tomatoes and creamy mozzarella with just the right amount of basil and balsamic. I usually don't like too much salt, but I found the addition of the sea salt quite good. The Tuscan salad featured their delicious chicken salad over romaine with cherry tomatoes and almonds. I love chicken salad so I would definitely order this again. Portion sizes were just right for small plates. My husband and I left satisfied, but not stuffed. I would have liked to play bocce ball while we waited, but as another reviewer commented there were a lot of children and they were constantly on the court. I have to admit, I actually enjoyed watching them play and didn't find the outdoor area overwhelmingly loud at all. There are only two one small restrooms inside so as always, unless you use the men's, ladies will wait in line. Unfortunately, the indoor area, although very cute, is quite small and I felt as if I were getting in the way while waiting. Overall, I had a great visit at Shoe's, Cup and Cork and I would definitely stop in again. I imagine sitting in the secret garden on a warm evening would be quite pleasant.

Great small restaurant in historic Leesburg. Varied menu and delicious tapas. Local beer and knowledgeable servers. Definitely coming back for more. The bocce balls (meatballs) are spicy and delicious. The Bells Amber is a sweet beer. Lionshead Pilsner is a bit bitter, but worth a second taste.

I was recommended to this place, and before I go, I was checking out their reviews. They have great reviews, but I wanted to check out their website to see their menu. Well, there site was down. I even tried outside of yelp to go their. No luck, so I email the restaurant thru yelp, letting them know that their website was not working. I wasn't expecting anything, just letting them know and they email me back, saying thanks, and they weren't aware that the site was down. They were very appreciative of my actions. That's service and I haven't even been yet. I give an update as my wife and I will be going sometime next week.

Shoe's is a small establishment, with a limited number of seats indoors and outdoors. When my friend & I got there at around 7 PM, it was peaceful and there was a decent number of seats left. However, it became packed and more lively by the time we finished eating, which was about 8 PM. When the weather's nice in the evening, try getting a table in their "Secret Garden." It's a lovely outdoor setup that's really charming. Some nights they even have live music playing out there. Overall, it's a pleasant summer atmosphere. As for the food, my friend and I ordered the Ahi Sliders, Grilled Kabob, and The Sandal Smoothie. All was very good! I was a little surprised that the tuna in the sliders was raw fish, but the pairing with avocado was delicious; this is a very unique dish that I'd recommend trying! I was a little disappointed with how small the entree was- for the money that was paid, I definitely expected a larger portion of food. The service was good: there was a short wait time for our food and our waiter was friendly. I had a good experience, but I can understand that when the place is packed, service becomes spotty. Nonetheless, Shoe's is definitely worth a visit when you're in town.

Red Sangria was delicious and the Captese salad was yummy. Nice ambience and secret garden is nice touch
(4)Gretchen S.
Coffee and chai was good. BLT was tasty. Local Omelette was over cooked. Service was slow and they ran out of breakfast potatoes. Decent but not a place to rush back to.
(3)Jennifer S.
Our friends brought us here knowing we would absolutely love the upstairs room and they were right! What a cool place - I just love how they decorated it. The service was good and so was the food too, but you certainly come here for the atmosphere.
(4)sara g.
This place is incredible. Quality of food and service were stellar. It is a small shop with coffee and ice cream, but the outdoor garden in the back is gorgeous and they serve great cuisine. We were very grateful to Gabi, the events coordinator, who accommodated us for our pre-wedding rehearsal dinner and post-wedding Sunday brunch. So many businesses in the area were unresponsive to our request to host 22 people, but Gabi was on the ball. They have a lovely room upstairs that is cozy and full of cool decor. They made whatever food we wanted, printed menus for us, and were just great. So great that we went back on Sunday with even more people for brunch and sat outside in the garden. Highly recommend. Thanks!

Amazing place!! Tried one of their seasonal hot chocolate's with almond milk and it was the best I've ever had! The barista was very friendly and patient (We were a large group). The whole setup was really cute. Didn't get a chance to visit the garden since it was really cold. Will definitely visit this place every time I go to Virginia!
(5)Lauren D.
I meet clients here for coffee due to it's relaxed charm, and anyone from out of town I take to Shoes to wow them. If you haven't checked out the secret garden then it's a MUST! Quite Expensive for the amount of food you get but the baked goods and coffee are a decent price.

MY STORY After filming a movie with a few friends last week, a friend recommended that we eat here for a late lunch. Upon entering, the atmosphere was cozy, and reminded me of a cross between a library and a old-fashioned living room. Several young adults in their mid-20's were enjoying themselves on the wooden chairs, and the noise level was kept at a low level. The lunch menu had a decent selection of meals I rarely make/couldn't make at home, and after consulting my friend, I went with his recommendation of the Smashed Meatball Sandwich. After putting in my order to a tired-looking employee, I sat down with my friends and was served in 5-10 minutes. The sandwich itself was a bit small, like a cross between a regular burger and a slider, but surprisingly came with a mixed green salad on the side. The salad tasted superb with their slightly thick balsamic vinegar sauce, and the meatball sandwich had a superb blend of spices within the meatballs. To add a bit more moisture to the sandwich, I found that adding a splash of Cholula sauce worked wonders. For dessert, I ordered some of the homemade ice cream of the day- in this case, it was the Honey Basil Ice Cream. The basil seemed to slightly overpower the honey within the first few bites, but after a bit, the flavors intertwined beautifully into a lightly sweet and savory treat-a perfect palette cleanser. Since we stayed from about 4pm-closing time, we were offered free scones and cookies so that Shoe's could make a fresh batch the next morning. After sharing scones with a friend, we both concluded that the blueberry and raspberry-white chocolate scones were of superb quality and taste, with just the right amount of moisture in each bite. Overall, I liked the experience, and would go there again with friends. :) PROS -Decent selection of food I can't/don't make at home -Quaint, homey atmosphere -2nd floor available on busy days for more privacy -Good quality food/Good tasting food -Has board games disguised as books on the shelf -The bathroom doors look like they lead to an apartment -Ranked one of the best restaurants in Loudoun County -Has unique daily specials and ice cream flavors written on chalkboards -Has a bowl you can put your business card in to possibly win a free lunch for two -No tipping unless you want to put it in the tip bowl -Free scones and cookies near closing time CONS -The cashier girl that day didn't really smile that much, which took away from the home-like atmosphere -We weren't able to be served on the 2nd floor due to lack of a server (understandable, since we came on a Tuesday afternoon near closing time) -Free parking nearby is hard to find (we parked at a paystation)

Amazing place for brunch! The secret garden in the back has cabanas and a bocce ball court. Perfect for summer days!
(5)Alexa G.
Their s'mores mocha is ahhmazing! Oh my goodness! Came back three days in a row just for it! And the atmosphere of this place is so cozy and free Wi-if! Can't beat it!
(5)Jack L.
Fantastic after-church brunch. Got the flavorful chicken panini. Their pickles are really unique. The outside atmosphere is fantastic - a secret garden.

First setting foot in the place, I really liked it. Cool and slightly quirky atmosphere with authentic, not fabricated, character (the kind that counts, folks!). Menu was interesting and plenty to choose from. I should have known that things were heading downhill when I first tried to order and the electronic register wouldn't reboot (or something?) so they had to handwrite my order and I'll pay at the end. No biggie, just a panini, side salad, and some fried up cauliflower. They'll even bring it to my table. Sweet! But 20 minutes later, still no food. I go up to the counter and politely check on it with a smile, and it's "still coming." In their defense, it was a holiday weekend, but the interior was not crowded and no one else there had ordered food. The excuse was that their back patio was really busy. Well, fine, but that shouldn't come to the detriment of people who I am 100% certain ordered first but just happen to be inside. Another 10 minutes later (total 30 minutes) -- after we had finished all our drinks and were just sitting around, the salad and "grilled" panini finally come out (and the sandwich is room temperature). Another 5 minutes go by and we're half done with our food when my wife gets her cauliflower (that was actually warm...yay?). Halfhearted, token apology of "Sorry for the wait" along with "Here's the check when you're ready." NO! You don't get to pretend like nothing happened. I want to hear "We're really sorry that the wait was so long. I realize that you have a THREE MONTH OLD BABY and that waiting more than 30 minutes for food is unacceptable. We sincerely apologize and hope you'll give us another chance." That's the mature way to own your mistake. And, jeez, don't freakin' ask me to pay right after you make a boo-boo! Are you trying to rub it in? Tips for the future: 1. If you're going to let some of my food get cold, at least serve all the food at the same time. 2. If you're going to make me wait longer than 30 minutes when no one else in the physical establishment has ordered food, you should apologize profusely. A good business would comp the meal (which was an exorbitant $45 dollars when you add in a couple smoothies and sodas, btw) or offer a free dessert, but I would have been satisfied with an honest look-you-in-the-eye apology. 3. Please acknowledge my family situation and recognize that not all 35 minute waits are created equal. I'm not asking for special treatment or to cut in line, but I'm asking for recognition that having to entertain a baby for 30 minutes before we can dine and dash is a bigger burden than sipping a mimosa for half an hour while your buddies play bocce. Capisce? I give only one star because of the slow service and apparent apathy toward it. But they get an extra star back for the atmosphere and for carrying Moxie. Haven't had the drink in 10 years and it was fun to have another sip.

So I visited here back in February when it was dreadfully cold, but, I want to note that //this is now a full menu restaurant//!!! I did not expect it and I came only for the tea and coffee, so I was a little taken aback. I will say, what they serve, they serve it perfectly. The London Fog is super creamy, the coffee is delicious. The only downside was the service. Despite them being everywhere, our waiter never came back or listened to our orders. I do speak kind of quietly but he never checked our orders over. I'd come again if I was guaranteed good service.
(3)Amanda B.
What a great local breakfast/brunch spot. It's small but inviting, you walk-in and order at the bar in the back and you can expect your coffee or tea to be given to you promptly while you are given free range to locate a place to sit while you wait for your food to be delivered. You pay after you order, so it's kind of weird to add a tip before you have even experienced their customer service. I ordered the white mocha that just blew mind with how tasty it was! I love that it was served in an oversized coffee cup with a really thick white cream and a white chocolate drizzle that just gives the already amazing coffee that extra umph!! Gawd it was good, I just want another cup right now! I also had the smoked salmon on an everything bagel that was plated beautifully and tasted just as amazing! Great flavor, creamy creamcheese and just super fresh! My buddy enjoyed his regular coffee and of course he let me have a bite of his bacon egg and cheese bagel that was just as if not more tasty than the salmon! Cheese was melted perfectly and it was pressed/grilled just right so you could actually take sammich bites.... The bagels were squished for ease of put in mouthage. Lol. Loved it! The menu is very very small though, not much selection but better than Starbucks any day! Worth a stop in for the coffee for sure! I'd like to see what their secret garden is like!

Ate here for Brunch Sunday. We got here around 1030AM which was the perfect time before the crowd began pouring in. We were lucky enough to get a cabanna. Super cute set up wtih the garden and plants, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and bocce ball. Their specialized coffee drinks were yummy. My husband got a mocha latte, I got an iced tea latte, and my friend got a frozen vanilla latte. Their biscuit basket was delicious, their biscuits were almost like scones and came with apricot jam. My husband had the not so eggs benedict which was beyond delicious. I got their chicken salad which was excellent. Our friends got the omelet and BrieLT which they both said were very good as well. I took away a star because they don't have their liquor license so there are no fun brunch drinks like mimosas or bloody mary's. Their beer list was strange, had very few normal craft beers and a lot of higher end beers that were $50? Virginia is a huge up and coming microbrewery state so I was expecting a lot of local beers but found very few. I think once this place gets their ABC license it will be so much better. Definetely a must try when in Leesburg
(4)Kerby R.
I simply cannot recommend Shoes anymore and don't intend to visit again. They have taken an awesome concept and utterly destroyed it with a pretentious, overpriced attempt to turn a great neighborhood meeting place into a sit down restaurant with table service. Holy crap! I have to ask to be seated just to get a cup of coffee. And heaven forbid you should actually order food now! talk about outrageous prices!? Eggs Benedict, which were 2 little eggs and a slice of ham on half a croissant worked out to about $1.50 per bite. $18.95 for something I can get for half that price at Leesburg Diner is absurd. Save yourself the disappointment (at least if you enjoyed Shoes in its previous incarnations) and go elsewhere.
(1)Tyke W.
We won the lottery!!! Or at least that is how my wife and I felt when we visited Shoes on a Saturday evening. We went to the "secret garden" in the back to find a real hidden gem. It was a very cozy area divided up between tables, semi-private seating areas with couches, and even a bocce ball court! It was a cool evening and the staff was handing out blankets which really added to the cozy feel. There was a little, but wonderful, duo playing some music at the far end which just made the entire experience enchanting. From an ambiance point of view, I don't know if it could have been any better. Until the food came. To be honest, we just sort of ordered without having any expectations but what came out was really wonderful. We both ordered the roasted chicken and apricot panini which were wonderful. The blend of flavors was really well balanced. Each sandwich came with a small salad. I don't know what was in the dressing but it was fantastic! We ended up spending the entire evening at Shoes when we really just stumbled upon it. The enjoyable and warm setting was made all that much better by the surprisingly good food. We can't wait to return!

Honestly, I had been to this place a few times and liked it pretty well and it's close to my office. This last time my husband met me there with our daughter for lunch and as it turns out their policy is "Kids are welcome but not encouraged" Yes... I'm quoting! There are no high chairs or booster seats and children are simply not wanted there. And yet the courtyard out back is dog-friendly! Seriously?? So my 1 star rating is for being flat out inconsiderate. This is not an upscale adult only type of restaurant and shame on them for kid-shaming. I won't be back with or without kids and will be sure to spread the word to all my mommy (and daddy) friends. If you can't accept my kids, then you surely won't be accepting my business!

Shoe's leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not a picky restauranteur: all I require is solid food at a reasonable price, attentive waitstaff, and ease of experience. Shoe's lost me on all counts. First off, it took the staff at Shoe's about ten minutes to notice us and seat us (a party of five). Where we eventually sat was a darkened corner of patio where we were relegated to squint at our humorously small-print menus. Our waitress was friendly, but inattentive. When the manager was alerted that her restaurant's tap water tasted much like sewer water, she explained, 'That's city water for you' (untrue, considering we later went up the street to King's Court Tavern that night to enjoy beautifully neutral tasting water from their tap, same water system). After pressing the issue, the manager offered to bring our table bottled water and then promptly disappeared along with our hopes of drinking a basic human necessity. The chips we ordered, which took approximately 30 minutes to attain, turned out to be a simple bag of chips from the front ($1.79). These chips simply should not be on the menu. The selection of alcohol was particularly small: 5 reds, 5 whites, and 5 bottled beers. The menu claims to serve muffulettas, but clearly no one on staff has seen the height or width of the New Orleans staple. This space has location and a whole lot of potential, but the owners of Shoe's clearly don't care to fully explore their options in this small gem of an area in downtown Leesburg. Someone will need to take a hard look at what needs to be done in order for Shoe's to be a success. Is Robert Irvine available? You can see the owner's response to my review here: shoescupandcork.com/#!ye…

This place used to be great when it first reopened about a year ago. Recently i've noticed a lot of changed around the place and they have certainly lost me as a regular. The staff are unfriendly, undertrained, and have a general sense of disorganization. The atmosphere has become completely different from the cool place it used to be where you could just go and hang out instead of being harassed by servers the whole time. The old managers used to be extremely friendly and personable while the new people in charge I find to be awkward and have an air pretentiousness about them. The food however, remains great, but its just not the Shoes that myself and many members of the Leesburg community have grown to know and love. Bring back the old staff, and trash the servers!
(2)Bill D.
Great location, nice patio...terrible service. Understaffed and inexperienced servers. My wife and I keep trying, hoping they'll get they're act together, but we leave disappointed every time. Food is OK, but inconsistent. Go next door to Lightfoot.
(1)Carl Y.
Ok place. Cool decor. Somewhat distant staff. Soft menu not very reasonably priced. Re-opened July 2013. Warm staff and a little cut on the price would turn a 2.5 into a 4. May try again.
(2)Ken P.
Love this place! Most people still think it is an old shoe repair shop as they have kept the ambiance. If the weather is right, go to the Secret Garden in the back. Great place to have some wine or a beer. My favorite food is the Roasted Chicken Panini. Large chunks of chicken with Brie and Apricots - yummy! The staff is very friendly and will guide you to the best food selection for your taste . This is not a full restaurant. There are plenty of those right around the corner. But if you are looking to relax with a drink and a sandwich in a great atmosphere, this is your place.
(5)Lenny B.
Best coffee around! Had 2 different meals there and both were very good. Second one sandwich got comped because waiter said it took too long. Didn't expect it but nice if him to do it!!! Good Music. Nice cabanas. I'm liking it:)
(5)Kristy W.
One word - YUM! I got the mozz tomato basil panini and it was delish. It came with a small side salad which was also quite tasty. The service was fantastic and the people were very friendly. I will certainly go back!
(5)Amanda C.
Love the new look! Had lunch there yesterday out back and it was very relaxing. Can't wait to go for a glass of wine with some girlfriends!
(5)Beth P.
Good cup of coffee, good price, good vibe in the place. I recommend & I will go back.

There are a lot of things I really like about this place. The atmosphere is superb--whether you're in the cozy main indoor room, sitting at a table out front, or in the "Secret Garden." The drinks and food are excellent, if a bit overpriced. (But hey, it's Loudoun County; I can't say I expected anything else...) All in all, Shoes is a fine place to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon when time is not an object--and I emphasize that bit about time, because there begins the criticism. Service here has been consistently slow since opening a couple years ago. The staff are forgetful, and often have to be reminded of even the smallest requests. (I ordered an ice water to accompany the "Brie L.T." my last visit, and had to ask several times before it was finally brought out 15 minutes later.) Furthermore, this may be a somewhat subjective perception, but I have observed at least a couple of the staff members to have an unfriendly, almost snide attitude toward customers. If I make a request regarding the food or coffee, standard courtesy (which you'd think would be a top priority for a dining establishment!) would dictate that it be attended to promptly; not treated as if it were some arduous chore. I understand this is a local small-business and one can't expect everything to be standardized and perfected. I do, however, hope that Shoes can eventually pull itself together and reach its full potential.
(3)T H.
Keep hoping I will like this place more... There is so much potential. Food is meh - smallish portions and not extraordinary. Staff has a peculiar attitude that gives the impression you should be grateful you get to eat there. They also should decide whether they are a coffee shop or high end bistro. Trying to be both is not quite working. Hopefully they are just working through growing pains. I'd love to see them take off! We moved from Charlottesville and Leesburg desperately needs great eateries.
(2)Scott H.
Great atmosphere. Food portions were more for birds than humans. Spent $35 on food and was still hungry. Had to go to another Leesburg joint to fill up.

I am typically not one to post my opinion. However, I came here curious to see what others had to say about Shoes, as it has become my new hangout. My husband and I have reserved a cabana for next weekend, so we can bring friends. I feel the need to post as I am surprised at some of the comments. I actually met the owner last weekend, as the manager had him come to our table to hear my comments about the delicious chicken panini. He was obviously pleased, spent time talking with us, and really seems to take pride in his restaurant. I read his response, and in all honesty, thought parts of it were funny. His sarcastic tone does go with the Shoes theme, as there are several sarcastic signs around the restaurant. He does 'own up' to some of Jared's fair comments. I would prefer to read a response such as that, instead of the routine "we are sorry for your experience, we will do better." In all honesty, I would hope Shoes isn't Jared's only water source. I am sure he doesn't have to depend on Shoes to give him his vital nutrient. With that being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and nothing is perfect. However, I think Shoes is a hidden gem, and I am looking forward to going back.

Stopped in here after dinner one night to enjoy some coffee and dessert. The 'secret garden' isn't so secret these days, but it's fantastic. They've set up heaters for the colder months and the environment is exactly what we were looking for - a relaxed, unpretentious, quiet place with well done coffee drinks. It was great to find a place to hang out and enjoy ourselves after dinner but before going home to the sitter that didn't involve loud music and/or drunk people. (We're old now.) Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Our lattes were warm but not scalding. The pie, from Mom's in Leesburg, was good and the ice cream with it was high quality. I look forward to my next cup of coffee from Shoe's.
(4)Christina S.
This cozy cafe has all the charming touches you could hope for, plus organic ice cream made in-house. The pie we ordered was great, and everything else we saw looked fresh. The owners took over a 100+ year old shoe shop and kept signage, etc. and made it their own.
(3)John C.
This place has so much potential, great menu, great atmosphere, and I think probably great food, but on this visit, my first, the service was terrible. It took one hour for our eggs benne to come out and when it one of the orders was over done. The place was really not even busy. They did comp the one order. I will give it another shot, but just one.
(2)Amer S.
Nice breakfast spot in Leesburg. Very good coffee and smoked salmon bagel. Very relaxed courtyard setting.
(4)Ann G.
Great place! Eclectic with great food and coffee. Reminds of a 'cool' cafe you'd find in NYC
(5)Kara M.
Love their beer selection and outdoor space in the back! Food is great and they have some gluten-free options. They have music on Thursday nights I believe.. blues :)
(4)Holly T.
Second visit. Tried to give it a second chance because I like neighborhood cafes and wanted to like this one. Service was a downer and slow. Waitress a space cadet. Music absolutely awful and jarring - not what you'd expect for an easy lazy Saturday morning before 10. I wondered, "Was the staff just seriously hungover and trying to wake up?!?" Would at least expect a "you're welcome" after I said thank you twice instead of an audible grunt or "sure." Mimosa was almost all OJ so took it back and asked "did you forget there should be champagne in this drink?" Sad...I wanted to have a relaxing morning while enjoying good service, good food, and atmosphere. This did not do it for me and I'm very disappointed.
(1)Kimi G.
Very nice place! The ambiance is nice and relaxing, the staff is very attentive, and the coffee and food were delicious and fresh, especially the biscuits!! I went during Sunday brunch and ordered the local omelet and I was very satisfied with my decision, but will have to go back and try one of everything!
(5)Chris S.
So this is our favorite place in Leesburg. The atmosphere and vibe is five stars...BUT...they have to do something about the food. Sub-par and over-priced. Hoping the owner(s) see this as constructive because we love this place and want it to succeed. However this morning I had their "house" omelette. It was tiny, came literally with a side of five pieces of arugula and frankly wasn't good. Add to that the cost ($12) and not a good experience. My wife got a large Cobb salad - the chicken was bland and the Avocado hard, and for the cost of $16 with chicken it was small. Fix the food problem and this place will be a Leesburg top spot. However, until that happens we've relegated it to coffee and possibly a glass of wine only.
(3)Monica C.
Very cute cafe! They have a small food menu but the options are interesting and delicious! I ordered the fried egg, arugula, & red onion sandwich and it was excellent. I also had to try the s'mores mocha and it lived up to my expectations - amazing! My boyfriend and I grabbed the pub trivia game that we saw on the shelf and had fun quizzing each other while we waited for our food to come out.

Wow, sleepy little Leesburg is just becoming the surprisingly coolest place. It's hard to keep up with the wonderful restaurants that keep popping up out of nowhere in this cozy old-Virginia town. We found ourselves in explore-mode Easter Sunday afternoon, a breezy cool but sunny Spring day, no particular direction in mind at all other than to find somewhere to go where interesting times and tasty offerings could be found on this otherwise day of closed establishments in the deep NoVA suburbs. We chose Leesburg, parked, and started walking around. Naturally, we consulted Yelp for ideas, which led us to Shoe's Cup and Cork. The name simply did not compute, so we peered inside--oh, ok, a coffee shop. Well, not exactly, what's this beckoning narrow alleyway that the sign says leads to the "Secret Garden" around back?! We had to go see...and...discover a charming, intimate courtyard around back with giant menus on the wall, cozy cafe tables to sit at (complete with gas heaters that they immediately turned on for us to balance the cool afternoon), and a counter at the rear of the coffee shop at which you place your order. Further, the Garden is a beer and wine bar, plus of course you can order coffee drinks from up front. Oh, and they have a Bocce green at the rear of the courtyard too. Completely charming. The menu was simple, but overwhelming. It made me pretty much drool trying to decide what to order, everything screamed "foodie" and sounded amazing. We decided to split two sandwiches to see if this menu would live up to its promise, we chose the chicken with honey and brie panini, and the tuna melt panini. I'm struggling for the right words. Nope, not coming, just "wow". The flavors and textures were all over the map, simply wonderful. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu, our crosshairs are on the muffaletta next. They also have breakfast, that's on the list too. After lunch, we wandered around front to check out the main coffee shop (seeking dessert too), and were blown away again. Everything you want in a casual, eclectic coffee shop (complete with a wall full of board games), topped off with live acoustic guitar music--yes, on Easter Sunday. And, among other things you can get Mom's Apple Pie slices (a local treasure), and they served us warm pecan pie ala mode, with really good coffee in a large, solid, comforting mug. Pure joy.

The only reason I gave this review even a single star is because the employees at the counter are patient and pleasant and eager to please, however I can't say that for the rest of the staff. I haven't eaten at shoes in a long time, but I frequently get coffee there and While it's expensive, it's convenient. Today I decided to try lunch there. I got the Brie LT panini, it was $8.75 with tax, I was assuming that it'd come with a side like a salad or a bag a chips, maybe a drink, and it didn't. What I paid for was a small muffin sized sandwich that was made with stale bread, barely had a strip of bacon on it, maybe a tablespoon of the lowest quality brie I've ever had, and almost no arugula. I used to come to shoes pretty frequently years ago, but since they closed and reopened with new management I've been disappointed. I walk in and the employees at the counter are always pleasant but once I saw a manager talk to an employee, I was disappointed with how she was being treated by her boss, it was like the manager was thinking of her as property. Service from management is never up to par ironically, but the employees I've dealt with are always patient and friendly. That all said, the prices are astronomically higher than the quality of the food served.
(1)phoenix t.
Wow...service is unapologetically sllllloooooowwwww here. Can't comment on the food since I walked out after waiting a ridiculously long time for our order.
(1)Blaire R.
Two words: Autumn Mocha. Oh my goodness, it was amazing. I was skeptical, having not enjoyed their coffee in the past, but this drink has totally changed my opinion. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are so overdone. And they're open till 11 when Starbucks has long been closed. But seriously, try the Autumn Mocha.
(4)Sarah D.
Love this little place! Such a cool atmosphere and the food and coffee is always yummy!
(4)Amanda G.
This place was pretty good. It's not good for kids fare and the upstairs dine-in area is a bit awkward and close quarters, but the service was great! I would recommend stopping in for brunch or lunch. Suggest having the chicken salad ..yum.
(4)Michelle P.
Absolutely love this little coffee shop. My bf and I come here often even though we live 30 minutes away from here. This is "our" spot. Hands down best coffee shop. Once in a while though, we would run into some inconsistent services. Perhaps some newbies behind the counter or a new barista just doesn't care about the customers. One time, we ordered and emphasized on decaf (health issue), but got regular instead. We had a reaction when we came home. And here I am sitting at their place with my bf, ordered our usual decaf white chocolate mocha. We emphasized on our order 3 times, and what they gave us was mocha. I'm praying that it's at least decaf. We also asked for the mugs because we love to sit here and enjoy our coffee on a Sunday, but got the to-go paper cups instead. But, aside from these few bad trips, Shoes is still our favorite spot to go on a Sunday.
(4)Alicia K.
A great hideaway spot in downtown Leesburg. Great sandwiches and pastries. Wish they had more healthy options.
(4)Christine U.
Shoes is amazing.. I was introduced to this place, after a friend stumbled upon in when he was looking for a quick bite in Leesburg. The place is warm and inviting. The food is amazing and the coffee is incredible. I had salmon and cream cheese on a bagel, with a white chocolate mocha and it was amazing. Can't wait to visit in the Spring/Summer for a couple rounds of bocce ball.
(5)Chris H.
Perfect little cafe with great food, coffee, and wine. It's just smaller than most Starbucks but still tries table service. Historic aspects of the decor keep you busy while waiting a little longer than it should take to get each round of orders.
(4)Ryan F.
A true secret garden in the heart of downtown Leesburg. This was the first time trying it since we've lived here. There is a little bit for everyone. We tried it for ice cream for the kids and smoothies for us. The had a good selection of beer and wines as well as coffees. We'll have to come back and try some of the food soon.
(5)Mike M.
First time at Shoes. Wanted to really like it, but unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. Dined with three of us total. One meal was forgotten and served late but graciously comped by the manager. I'm glad it was comped as it was an Inedible chicken panini with a very strange taste. The staff was friendly but inattentive. The outdoor garden was a nice hidden spot. I really feel restaurants should be menu / quality of food first then ambiance second. Price for what was served was not congruent. Unfortunately like many downtown Leesburg spots this place was all show but no substance. With a bit of work they could be great
(2)Michelle D.
Awesome atmosphere...coffee shop meets wine bar outside. The secret garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a beautiful evening with good friends. Share a bottle of wine or a game of Bocce Ball, either way you can't go wrong.
(4)Timothy M.
Great salads and sandwiches. Lattes great too. Cute little coffee shop in downtown Leesburg.
(4)Chech V.
Food and patio was great. Service wasn't that brilliant. Slow and not quite attentive to customers even when there were more than enough wait staff to help with the customers. I guess most of the wait staff apart from ours was attentive. She could have been having a bad day so still gave this place a 3 star. Will go back and give it another try.
(3)Maria Del Carmen G.
Have heard a lot about this place and have been wanting to try it out. I finally did today. It's small and cozy, we sat out back where they have a nice outside patio area. They do not carry tradition coke and Pepsi products, however they carry soda with real sugar and no artificial flavoring which was a big like for me. We ordered the cheese slate among with the olive slate. Both where excellent. The bread came out nice and hot. To some up, nice atmosphere, good food and good service. I'm a fan.
(4)Flor G.
Love! Can't wait to go back. I had the brie-L.T. sandwich and an ice tea. Both were delicious. I can't wait to try other offerings. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. We ate inside but the outdoor patio seemed like a great spot to eat and have a glass of wine. Next time, I will FOR SURE try the home made ice cream.
(5)Juicy G.
It's the secret that the people of Leesburg don't want outsiders to know about. Shoe's Cup & Cork is a small little eatery where you can come in, step up to the counter and order a sandwich or salad for a quick lunch, and be on your way back to work in the downtown Leesburg area. However, if you have the time, take two steps to the left of the front door, and walk between the two buildings down the old fashioned covered alley to where the true spirit of the place lies. The area opens up into a nice garden style seating area where you can sit and relax in the sun or shade with friends as you take a moment to slow your life down while enjoying tasty food and sip on fantastic wines. The misses and I personally enjoyed a cheese plate with a delicious bottle of Mango Moscato. We ordered all of this conveniently from the outside ordering window. In addition to regular seating, the place also has tabletop games such as checkers, chess, and Scrabble. Unfortunately for us we were only able to enjoy a game of Scrabble as the pieces for checkers seemed to have taken a walk off the property. They also offer bocce ball for those who want to play a fun group game. The place gets crowded, so you really have to stake your claim to a seat early. Bringing a buddy to place the order while you sit would also be a convenient tactic. Price has a potential to be up there, especially if you're ordering wine, however the food is rather comparably priced. So there are definitely ways to keep prices down, and potentially ways to get it up there. It's not something we would do on a regular basis, but Shoe's Cup & Cork is definitely a place we'll be keeping in mind when we just need life to slow down for a moment.

I am in LOVE! Came to try the ice cream and it was amazing. Had the chicken Panini and the grilled cheese with sauerkraut. The salad dressing is light and savory and very yummy~ One of the sandwiches came out different than ordered and the manager fixed it immediately and then took it off my bill! Who does this any more? I never expected that but thank you! I will be back. They use local when ever possible. It is hip/clean/fun and amazing. Don't think I could ever say enough good things about this place. Spend your money here!!!!!
(5)Elaine P.
A lucky find on a work trip! A coworker and I stumbled upon the secret garden (their outdoor patio.) the weather was amazing and the food was phenomenal. I got an egg white omelet with goat cheese, spinach and a sundried tomato pesto. The omelet was super fluffy and tasted delicious. The iced coffee was great too! I highly recommend for an amazing breakfast, lunch or brunch outside in a little bit of paradise!

Finally getting around to reviewing Shoes, Cup, & Cork. My wife and I had our Welcome Reception for our Leesburg wedding here on a Friday night back in August 2014, and it was awesome. We reserved the entire back patio area with the lounge tables and bocce ball court. It was just the sort of relaxed, fun, cozy atmosphere we were going for. The staff was amazingly helpful and accommodating, they really seemed to be going out of their way to make sure our group was having a great time and getting what they wanted. The wait staff was on point with drink and food orders all evening and I'm pretty sure they kept the place going until our party was ready to leave. They have a great selection of beer and wine (no liquor) and I think all our guests were pretty satisfied. Overall a strong recommend for our purposes, hosting about 50 people in the back garden area. If I had one minor complaint, and I'd be stretching to find fault, it'd be that the music was a bit low back there but I think it's because it's an outdoor area and not far from people's homes. We visited during the day many times to check the place out and it's an amazing outdoor spot for brunch or relaxing. When they have live music on the weekends, it's glorious and shouldn't be missed.
(5)Karen D.
First time here, from the Hamptons in NY. Loved it! The Brie LT was fab with small side salad. Would definitely come back! Only negative.... Great music but too loud
(5)Annie K.
This place is adorable and I wish we could have gone back for dinner, too! We spotted this gem after having dinner a few doors down and decided immediately that we would return the next morning for breakfast. The ambience in and out doors is adorable, welcoming, and charming! They even have an extensive secret garden and back patio with additional seating, service window, twinkling lights, and BOCCE - a great place to come with friends!!! We sat in the cozy inside on this rainy day and were very impressed and pleased by the menu - tons of KIND bar inspired foods, gluten free, and soy free options. The granola I had was delicious and so was my almond milk latte and my family loved their egg sandwiches! The one server seemed a little spacey but the others made up for it and were friendly and helpful. Their music taste was also clutch! This is the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday morning - if I ever go back to Leesburg, I will come here again!!!
(5)Jennie M.
Second time here was even better than the first! First visit was in January and we enjoyed a cup of cocoa in the cozy front room. Last night our family of six enjoyed dinner outside in the back. Was a lovely evening: delicious dinner, attentive wait staff, marvelous ambiance. Plan to try the outdoor bocce ball court next time. Mac and cheese, caprese salad, grilled kebobs, lobster ravioli, and Cobb salad were all delicious. Arancini balls were a little bland and overly crispy. Looking forward to our next visit.
(5)Alexa M.
I miss that that no longer have the crab dip with bread but I'll live. Such a warmly comfy place to just relax. Listen to good music. I can study here. The foods all very good, and I enjoy the coffee. This place makes me feel at home. I love it.
(4)Abdiel F.
Good coffee on the go and also a cool vibe at their secret garden. Wish I had more time to spend there to enjoy the atmosphere.
(4)Karl M.
I was thrilled to find out that my favorite coffee shop in Downtown Leesburg had reopened. And with a patio. When I stopped by after mass today, I followed the sign to the secret garden and I was blown away by the charming gathering space they had created. It has ample seating, but it is still intimate. This patio is far and away the most charming and unique place in Leesburg. The menu is more simple than the previous incarnation of Shoe's, and more successfully executed. I took off half a star because at 6.99, I thought my panini could have used a small side, if only to fill up the space on the rectangular plate. I took the other half star because my wife's bagel was grocery store quality and the amount of lox that came on it seemed a bit stingy. The charm of Shoe's Cup and Cork far outweighs the small problems, all of which will be smoothed out as they become more established. This is my new Sunday spot. It is on trend, affordable, and unique. If Downtown Leesburg is to thrive, the businesses and restaurants need to learn from Shoe's. **Update** Since my last review Shoe's has responded by adding a side and upgrading their bagels. My wife and I are there at least once a week and LOVE the bocce court. We use my three month old as a handicap for the winning player. Thanks for listening, Shoes! You continue to set an example for Downtown Leesburg.
(5)Victoria V.
Great place, great coffee, the sandwiches are killer, and the garden in the back is the finest and chicest in town! I would recommend this place to everyone. The decor is fab as well. It's the only hidden gem left in town!
(5)Jeremy P.
Waited a hour for one sandwich. Brought it out wrong the first time and then took then forever to bring.
(1)Brian P.
Very nice. Beautiful hidden garden area out back. Good place to have a glass of wine and read a book. Menu is limited with small bottled beer selection. Hasn't been reopened long but quite a suprise from the old Shoes. Nice bocce ball court too.
(5)Heath S.
Great place after church (around the corner) we are quickly becoming regulars. They have blankets if you get cold while eating or playing bocce.
(4)Amanda M.
I work steps away from this place and want so badly to love it but I just don't. My associate and I were just discussing the value for the service and neither one of us were feeling it. He described his specialty coffee as being watery and as I suggested he go back but we didn't have time. The kale salad is by far my favorite and the soups are delicious but skimpy proportions. When I dine there for the lunch hour the service has been sporadic and/or sluggish. Lots of staff just seems unorganized....idk.. I am looking for my local coffee spot to be consistent with friendly & efficient service and this place just misses the mark for me every single time. The ambiance and outdoor seating is cool and hip. I keep going back for coffee but often times take a pass on dining due to lack of confidence. Looking forward to seeing improvements.
(2)J. W.
If you're looking for a great relaxing environment, then you need to check out Shoe's Cup & Cork. The name is odd, but this establishment a great hidden gem in Leesburg! There are no servers, so you order what you want to eat and drink up front, and have the luxury to relax without having a waiter hassle you to leave to make room for the next patron. That said, the staff there is very nice, and quite attentive. There are tables and chairs if you want to have a meal, and there are more relaxing couches, and a bocce ball court set in the back area. If you do nothing else, make sure to try the mango moscato! You can only buy it by the bottle, but you won't be sorry you made the purchase!
(5)Francis R.
Go to place for brunch after a long ride. Fresh, local ingredients (when in season) and reasonably good coffee to boot. Make sure to visit the backyard patio weather permitting. My only criticism is that the menu items are relatively "safe" and probably appeal to a wide audience. Was looking for something new today.
(3)Lee N.
This place is AMAZING! Their food is so healthy and delicious!! The price is very reasonable too. I wish they had more locations :(
(5)Katie C.
Completely overwhelmed by the crowd. No one was taking names, they were just turning people away and saying that they were full rather than letting people wait or even telling them the wait. People outside were waiting for 45 minutes and the inside was just ignoring people. No staff was knowledgable about what to do and clearly their manager needs to train them to handle the place when they have more than 10 people. Ran out of key ingredients for most of their food. It took half an hour for scrambled eggs and a salad on a limited menu. But our waitress was wonderful and apologized after the kitchen made the wrong salad. I would eat here again, just never at an event.
(2)Harry Y.
Great coffee, great ambiance, great service, good place for business or casual meetings. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Love it, highly recommend.
(4)Kristen Q.
Just moved to the area, needed a quiet place to study for an interview and this place was recommended. Coffee and lunch was amazing, free wifi, just what I was looking for. This will be my go-to spot!
(5)Kaci D.
This place is so cool! If you're doing a gallery walk in Leesburg, or just checking out the antiques and historic value of this beautiful town, be sure to stop in! Everything on the menu is sort of bistro food and always really good. I recommend the roast beef sandwhich! The space itself is really beautiful. It used to be a cobbler's shoe repair shop, and they bought it as is, so they were able to renovate but keep the antique shoe-making/shoe-repairing equipment as decorations and I believe that most of the interior is original. It's a bit of a retro-fit but it works well! Food and drinks are brought out promptly and the staff is very pleasant. The only down side is that it's about 20% pricier than it needs to be. It's a nice place to go now and then, but it's a bit cost-prohibitive from being a regular hang out for writers and telecommuters like other coffee shops. That's the only reason it doesn't get five stars. Try this place out when you're in Leesburg next!
(4)Tim F.
Everything was really good! We got eggs in a nest and the house oatmeal with a cappuccino and vanilla latte. Great ambiance but limited seating before the back opens up.
(5)Jonathan Z.
Shoes is possibly my favorite place in all of Leesburg! Their coffee is always great (especially if Ashley is there) and their Brie & Apricot Panini is out of this world delicious. They frequently have like music, which I tend to avoid because I don't like it being to loud, but it's cool if you like that. They also have the best outdoor "secret garden" that is great in the hot-warm-cool weather. They have outdoor heaters for when it's a bit chilly and a bocce ball area in the far far back. The manager is frequently there and is the nicest guy who is always up for a quick chat about anything from the store to home restoration. Simply put, this place makes Starbucks look like... well, Starbucks since I hate their over-priced, burnt coffee and mediocre food lol
(5)Tom S.
Saturday night with live music. Probably the most intimate place in Leesburg. Great food, nice selection of wine. Warm ambience. Lucky to be here.
(4)Spencer M.
Stopped by for an Americano to warm up from the October drenching we've gotten over the last few days. Great service and the coffee was excellent. Was especially excited to see that they are now open at 6AM on weekdays. Shoes is becoming a regular stop for me and based on the excellent service and tasty food and beverage options, I'm sure I'll be back soon.
(5)Katee H.
This place is great. I've tried a few of the sandwiches and breakfasts and they were all quite good. The 50 calorie Frapp has become my go-to summer coffee. The secret garden is great on nice evenings, especially when they have live music or open mic night. Highly recommend.
(5)Amy M.
So much better under the new management! Have been there mostly for coffee and to meet friends, love the ambiance. Had breakfast once, just granola with almond milk. It was delicious.
(4)Allison L.
I've come back many more times since my last review and every time has been delightful. I even brought my friend from out of town in for a nice brunch. It's great to finally have a place in Leesburg that actually does anything brunch-like that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg. My friend asked if it was possible to get a french press of coffee. Although the girl at the counter seemed completely confused by this request, the guy at the counter (the owner maybe?) said it'd be no problem and he'd get it going for us. In the defense of the girl, it wasn't on the menu. We also ordered breakfast sandwiches - fried eggs on whole grain bread with onions, arugula, and lemon aoli. The french press was brought to our table, along with mugs and a tiny cup of cream. Our sandwiches came out soon after. The coffee was good - the guy told us he roasted the beans himself - and the sandwiches were incredible. I have made myself three egg sandwiches at home in their memory, and have been sad each time that they weren't nearly as good. The lemon aoli balances out the creaminess of the egg, and the arugula provided a nice bite to the sandwich. My friend and I were catching up, so we stayed for quite a while. We were checked on several times and even ordered a second french press. At no point were we made to feel rushed or in the way. My sister is coming in from out of town this weekend, and I'm looking forward to introducing her to Shoes. And perhaps fulfilling my craving for another breakfast sandwhich.

Just took a look at the "owner's" response to a pretty fair yelp review of the restaurant. After reading the review and response - I was shocked. If the owner chooses to respond to those who had a bad experience in a rude, patronizing and condescending manner, he needs to rethink what it means to be an owner. He even indirectly and sarcastically calls the reviewer's party "ugly." He states, "if there was a choice of tables available and our "maitre d'" (qua cashier) sat you in a dark corner, there might have been a subtle message to you in that. Everybody knows fine dining establishments like ours seat only the beautiful people in the "Celebrity Room," up by the front window where they will attract other beautiful people (which brings in more cha-ching for us!)" What a rude way to get your point across. And not funny. Just because a new group of people weren't aware of how the "restaurant" worked - and frankly didn't like it, doesn't mean you can publicly, jokingly belittle them. My experience dining there wasn't the best, either. Service wasn't great despite lots of servers walking around, lighting was too dim, waitress even admitted the menu print was too small and had trouble reading it, food didn't seem worth the price. In retrospect, there is potential, but the owner needs to take a hard look at how he responds to paying customers.
(1)Tami C.
We've been coming here for years. Since they first opened with a different owner. Today we came in and it's all full-service. That's fine. But it really changes the tone of the entire experience. The person who met us at the door was a bit abrupt and short with us. Because you walk right in to tables there's no where really to wait until a table comes available. I get that the business has grown and they're trying to evolve, but that warm quirky atmosphere is gone. I used to love coming here because of the character and because it was a non-chain. But to bring a laptop or work and get a cup of coffee, it looks like this is no longer the place to set down for a while. Such a shame. I'll miss that.
(2)Mackenzie D.
I had heard good things about this place, so when I found myself needing to grab lunch in Leesburg en route to an appointment I thought I'd try it out. I ordered the Chicken, Apricot, and Brie panini. They didn't even have a problem putting avocado on the sandwich when I asked. I sat down to wait for my food to be ready... and waited... and waited. There was a steady stream of customers, but it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary for a Saturday afternoon. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked the cashier if she knew when my sandwich would be ready. I needed to leave in a few minutes to make my appointment. Without apologizing, she checked with the kitchen and said they were very busy and it would be 5 minutes. She offered to make it a to go order. 10 minutes later my sandwich appeared. Unfortunately I had to eat it while walking to my car and driving. It was definitely delicious, but had I known it would take me 30+ minutes to get an $8 tiny sandwich I would have gone somewhere else. But, for what it's worth, that tiny sandwich was really good.
(3)Helik S.
Great place for a snack and a drink in a nice weather evening.not suitable If you're very hungry, although salads and sandwiches are done very well and cost is very decent. Outdoor seating is very nice and comfortable.Service is perfect. Definitely worth a visit!!

We have visited Shoes often for coffee and snacks so it was interesting to try them for dinner. They have open a very pleasant new 'poker room' upstairs with room for about 20 patrons. The room is beautifully decorated with wood panelling and a 20's style theme. Contemporary music of that era is playing out of a vintage radio. The menu itself is short but with some creative choices. They have a fine wine and beer list with some good local choices. Prices are a little high but you can check out their full menu with prices online. Service was personable and professional. Definitely worth a try.

I was so sad to hear when this place closed down a few months ago, so happy it re-opened. I love the old charming feel inside this coffee shop. No wifi-but its so nice to just have a nice conversation with a friend over coffee and a delicious butterscotch scone. Can't wait to check out the food and the outdoor seating in the "secret garden" next time!

This place is awesome! The interior is so well done: from creative chalk board & shoes on the doors, to cheeky signs in the bathroom! I've never been disappointed with either the friendly service or the food & beverages. My fiancé & I stopped here recently for a healthy snack and coffee. We settled on their vegetarian soup & we were very happy with the homemade taste; full of fresh vegetables . Highly recommend when you're in the Leesburg area in need of a unique & artsy pit stop.

RE-OPENED! The new look is amazing! Great food and beverage selection along with a gorgeous atmosphere and excellent evening entertainment on the weekends. One of my new fav's this summer!

Did try the food but service and wine was great. Bummed they didn't have and Virginia wine red or white! Go local!

I'm in love with this place and so are my friends. We eat outside in the Secret Garden. My daughter and I discovered it when we saw the mysterious little alley and decided to follow it between the buildings. It was like we made a secret discovery when the alley opened up into the patio. I love the eclectic look. Not fancy but perfect for a casual lunch. There isn't a lot on the menu but I've tried a few different items and loved each one of them. They tasted home made and special. The first visit, I just had some sort of arugula salad, which is very plain but I swear it was the best salad I'd had. I guess it was the dressing. Another time, a group of us sat at a table we had to share with a woman and her baby--as it was the only area open. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them. It's just a friendly kind of place. You should know that service is pretty slow, but I don't go there when I'm in a hurry... I go to enjoy the weather and the food.

Fantastic new interior design. The Secret Garden is the perfect spot for a relaxing glass of wine and listen to live music. Loved the panini!

Everything was great except the espresso, which was mediocre. They couldn't pull me ristretto shots from their bar, because it's all automated. But the mocha I had still tasted good. The homemade scone was delectable. I also love the ambiance and convenient downtown location.

We stopped by this really cute place when we ventured around Leesburg. I think I had the best chai here.

Friendly service, independent vibe. This is the kind of place that you wish was as ubiquitous as Starbucks -- but since it isn't, come here as often as you can! Good coffee and chai. Any place with homemade donuts earns a gold star. Bonus: you can't beat the view.

Best service I have ever had in my entire life. Came here with a 19 month old and the owner could not have been nicer. The $20 we paid for breakfast and two large lattes was worth every penny. There is public parking a short walk away, and some street parking. Comfortable chairs and a large chalkboard keep the adults comfortable and any wee ones entertained. My bagel was perfectly toasted, and my husband raved about his smoked salmon. Come here and relax either for a glass of wine (the list is extensive, but not pretentious), lunch or dinner, or breakfast. I promise you'll have a great time.

Best Chai Latte I've ever had and the apple pie was amazing. Definitely coming back to try lunch.

Shoes cup and cork is a new favorite! The atmosphere is great. Loved the live music on Sunday. Our food was delicious! I love the house vinaigrette. Can't wait to sit out in the garden when it gets warmer. The chicken in the Brie, chicken, apricot and honey mustard sandwich is amazing and I can't wait to go back!

Score! A wonderful place if you like a cozy/funky cafe with a lot of spunk and a truly unique vibe. It's the kind of place you won't easily forget. I am a mainstream guy with no piercings or tats. And I felt totally at ease here. But I did sense that my cool factor notched up 2-3 steps when I walked in the door. My wife was completely relaxed and in no hurry to leave. This place would fit right in on the left bank in Paris but only in those places around the corner where no American tourists can be found. In fact, it's more of an experience than a place to hang out. Sure they could have gutted the inside of the space and created another faceless hipster cafe. But then it would have been indistinguishable from 80 other cafes around here. We didn't know the first thing about any of the establishments in Leesburg. We just drove out there from Arlington on a lark. We had a nice dinner at a restaurant on the main strip. It was dreary and rainy that night but I had the most amazing woman with me so I wanted the o savor the moment. Hey, what's that little storefront up there with the light on? We soon discovered. Huh? Oh, I get it. Cool idea. We are coffee aficionados. Snobs would be a fair word. They brew a superlative and comforting cappuccino here. Totally savory. Deeply roasted but not burnt. Well done! We decided to linger a while longer. Then I needed a slice of apple pie. That was nice too. And I am a fussy pie eater. The owner (manager?) was pleasant and sincerely bent on seeing us enjoy ourselves. I got the distinct notion it wasn't anything to do with the money. That's refreshing. Pretty rare, actually. We'll definitely go back. Yes, well okay, I can see how a service miscue could turn off some more reactive patrons. This is not a formulaic coffee shop that has all the protocol baked into a scientific service regiment. It's about as night and day from that approach as you can imagine. If you want a corporation to figure out the best or fastest way to serve you, this is not be the best place for you. But I hope those folks give this place a second (or third or fourth) chance. It's deserving. Shoe's Cup & Cork is worth the trip.

I have never been here before but definitely want to because of the awesome responses back on the yelp reviews!!! You all rock. The ridicules things people "complain" about and wrote on yelp are completely unfair and in all fairness they should have addressed it while at the restaurant not leave and internet bash!! You have definitely earned my business from your laid back fun free spirit responses!!! I work right down the road and Look forward to coming by in the near future.

This is an unjustifiably high review, but here's why... If you gave this place 1 star, you should; go home, stick your head in the toilet, and flush vigorously until you have washed the self importance out of your head. Here are some reasons why you should go to Shoes: 1) Coffee - It's decent and they don't burn it like some other large espresso chains 2) Beer & Wine - Excellent choices, reasonable (not cheap/but not exorbitant) prices 3) The Patio - This is great place to unwind, listen to some music, and enjoy life 4) Crossword Puzzles - Saturday and Sunday mornings are not a bad time to hang out for a bit, have a hot beverage, and relax 5) Brunch - The food is pretty decent Here is why you are probably a jerk: 1) You have no sense of humor and you are an uptight pretentious pain-in-the-butt. Yes, some of the kitschy, quirky, wanna-be-Zooey-Deschanel-hipster-BS is just silly. The signage and tee-shirts are a little snarky, but so what. Lighten up and relax. Save your outrage for late night cable news programing. 2) You hate teenagers - Actually we all hate teenagers, but that is not the point. The service is not going to be glowing and make you feel like you just left your therapists office. This is probably the first job this kid has ever had and they've yet to realize it is not a chore. At some point someone was patient with you when you were a know-it-all teenage jackass, so just extend them the same courtesy. If the service is deplorable then just leave 10% w/ a note saying "prompt service with a smile gets 20% next time." 3) You hate your life - I'm sorry you didn't win the lottery and the man/woman of your dreams has not dropped everything they are doing to fawn over you 24 hours a day, but sometimes you don't get everything you want out of life. Maybe you should focus on a few of the good things around you instead of why you are furious that your latte was made with 1% milk instead of 2% like you asked. In all honesty, Shoes deserves 3-3.5 stars. It is a good place to snack and relax. It is not a white table cloth bistro, or even a upscale dinner. Yes, there are some improvements that can be made; but regardless, this is a great place for coffee and wine (hence the name). If you go there expecting a lavish meal, walk 50 yards in any direction and you will probably find something more suitable for your tastes. But if you are looking for a place to take a breather and sip something tasty; well then, you're there.

Quaint and a great place to just enjoy your morning. The food is delicious, and just enough to fill you up with gorging out. it's my favorite kind of coffee shop. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Love this place! The atmosphere is inviting, their baristas/staff are courteous and make amazing drinks. Their vanilla latte is delicious, always frothy & delicately sweetened just enough for my taste! Plus the sugar free vanilla latte option is nice too :) if you are in downtown Leesburg and want to sit down for a relaxing cup of coffee, definitely stop in

I have eaten here several times and it is usually pretty good. However, the service is terrible. If you are in any kind of hurry don't eat here. The food takes forever and the waitresses are really slow and forgetful. I invited a group of friends here and was embarrassed to say the least. The potential is here if they make a few changes
