This gem popped up for me while browsing through "nearby feed" on Yelp's cell phone app. Asia G's "Holy cow I'm in heaven" peaked my interest and I decided that we needed to try it for ourselves. We agree with the last couple reviews, and we too hope that they don't raise their prices, because they are perfect right now. Under $2 per pocket. I feel that the bean and cheese or squash flavored pupusas are the way to go, although hubby is chiming in and says "the pork with beans is great too!" The atmosphere is just fantastic and the background music: WONDERFUL. Salvadorean folk and dance music makes you just want to get up and MOVE IT! The space has an appropriate ethnic feel and decor. The restaurant starts hopping after about 7pm - whole families come in and sit around huge tables. Grandmas ordering tripe soup, kids ordering pupusas, parents ordering chicken dishes. Looks like a popular place! We ordered some sides, but we were mainly mpressed with the pupusas. We enjoyed them all except for the "everything" pupusa, which my husband said was so filled and large that it got mushy. This place is worth a visit. It will fill you up with tasty food while not breaking the bank. They DO take credit card.

OMG....YUM!!!!!! Was in the area and decided to pop in and I'm gad I did! I ordered the pupusas. Each one is around $1.65 which is a great price. My son had a cheese pupusa which was full of a delicious melted mozzarella type cheese. He loved it so much that he ordered another one before he was done with the first. I had the mixed (revueltas) which have cheese, beans and pork. It was a delicious combination. The dough was flavorful and not too thick. It comes with a side of marinaded cabbage and a tomato sauce. The tamarind water/drink was very refreshing and tasty too. The 2nd time, I ordered to go. I ordered the same kind. The pupusas were so fresh and steamy hot when we got home. They packed the cabbage and sauce in little plastic bags, which I didn't mind. Looking forward to the next time so I can try the other types of fillings.

This place is super awesome!!!! they have the best pupusas around this area... And the people that work there are super nice!!! my favorite person is misses Silvia, she is the best waitress ever!!! but overall everybody in this place is super nice. If you visit this place do not miss the fried fish (my favorite dish)

I have eaten from three of their locations now. This is the real deal and is just the bomb for pocket change. My favorite pupusas are chicken or beans and cheese. Chicarrones a little salty for me. The bread pudding will look familiar to Latinos but nothing like the British kind. You and a friend can eat until you bust for under 12 bucks. They have tables and take out. I think I can safely say--go to any of them and be happy.

I was in the mood for something different, so I popped into this pupuseria in Herndon. I started with a side salad and order of beans (about $4 total). The lettuce and tomato were really fresh and the tomato was the best I've had in months, tasted homegrown. Then 3 tasty corn pupusas: beans and cheese, squash and cheese, and cheese and herbs. All delicious.

Me and my wife discovered this place 2 months ago by sheer luck. This place is a secret treasure. Since then we've been to this place 5 times. We LOVE this place! Everything here is lovely, the food, the ambiance, the servers (especially Sylvia, shes a darling.) everything! They have a tiny menu and we've pretty much tried everything. There is nothing we dislike here. the pupusas are as fresh as fresh can get. piping hot filled with cheesy goodness. Fish dish (I forget what its called but they only have 1 fried fish dish) was really tasty. the fish was fresh and crispy. Overall, this is a 6 *(star) and a lovely place to spend your time with your loved ones.

I had no idea what a pupusa was but I pass this place all the time so decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed! (A pupusa is corn meal stuffed with pork, beans, and/or cheese and fried, served with a side of salsa and pickled cabbage). The food was delicious! The beau and I tried a pork pupusa, an everything pupusa, and a chicken tamale. It was $5 for everything. Yes. Just $5. For. Everything. The only downside was the service. The place was busy (it ALWAYS is) but our server walked by our table multiple times without even making eye contact. Our food came out very quickly but it was nearly impossible to flag her down for the bill. Busy or not, at least make eye contact when walking by to see if we need something! Even though the service sucks, the food is totally worth it and I plan on making this a regular stop (and then hitting the gym afterwards!)

Really fresh food, cooked to order, and spiced fantastically. I stopped in here on an invite from a co-worker who also took the liberty of ordering for me as I don't speak Spanish, and the staff doesn't speak much English, and was very pleased with what I got. We had a table full of pupusas, grilled chicken, rice and salad. The only part I hated about it was choosing what to eat next because I was filling up fast, and dead set on leaving stuffed. The pupusas were fresh and hot, and had just the right amount of pork, beans and cheese inside. The cabbage on top was nice and mild, and added a good crunch to each bite as well as a whole new level of flavor. Not only that, but for $2.00 you get two very large pupusas that in and of themselves would make a satisfying meal. But, we didn't stop there. We had some incredibly tasty grilled chicken breast that was topped with grilled onions, and came with a very large side of rice and salad. The chicken breast had a wonderful spice on it that complimented the meat perfectly - though there were a bit too many onions to accompany it. It was practically buried in them. The rice was really good, and when I took a bite of it with each bite of my chicken my taste buds were on cloud nine. I would definitely return to this place for some more delicious eats.

i love pupusas my favorite place to eat pupusas is doña azucena because they make the best pupusas like in el salvador but there is a little thing that bothers me and that is the service. servers in this place pay attetion more to guys than girls and i felt bad for my wife she was totally ignored by the severs other than that food is amazing

This place is such a gem. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times, and the food is always on point! Flavorful, authentic, cheap, and just downright delicious. The last time we were there our server was so lovely. Before we left she told us "come back soon, we'll always be here for you!" - and we definitely will!

Food was killer, absolutely killer and absolutely cheap. Service was death, absolutely death. I would take the good with the bad and come here again and again and watch my waistline expand precipitously.

The pupusas are amazing, & the prices are nice, I took away a couple stars because the portion size is a bit small compared to some other central American restaurants in the area, and service is a bit on the slow side. I would definitely come here again and again though. :)

Holy cow I'm in heaven!!!!!!! Professionally hand crafted to be thin and fully stuffed, there's no skimping here. Imitators give you thick doughy discs...... Not here my friend. Bean & Cheese: phenomenal Meat Patties: think ground beef pot roast, wrapped in corn party then deep fried. I'm hoping they don't raise their prices once more people know about the place.

Good pupusas. Would have given it five starts if they would have given us the spicy green sauce. Very friendly staff that appreciated your attempt at using Spanish

Nope. I will not be returning to this spot ever again. I came here because I was looking for a quick meal of a pupusa and a tamale. I've been to other spots with similar menus to this place, and I figured getting these things would be super fast. I mean, pretty much every customer orders either a pupusa or tamale (look at the other reviews!). So making these items should be streamlined and not time-consuming. When I walked in, there were basically all men in the restaurant, and they all stared at me as I made my way to the back register to place my order. The woman working it was nice enough, and acknowledged me soon after finishing up the previous transaction. She said it would be 10 minutes to get my items, and I thought that was reasonable. Unfortunately, it took about 20 minutes to get my one bean and cheese pupusa and chicken tamale! I couldn't believe it. I've had way more fresh and sophisticated meals come out in less time. To go along with the timing, no other orders were coming out after I ordered my food. So it was confusing to me as to why mine was taking so long. I just didn't understand the unbelievable slowness. Ugh, and another annoying thing - my order was for take away, and the sauce and slaw came in tightly tied plastic bags. THIS WAS THE WORST. Sauce in a bag? And it was so much sauce which wasn't necessary. To top it all off, the tamale and the pupusa didn't even taste good. They were bland and boring. Bottom line: there were no pros to outweigh the cons. I don't suggest coming here.
