India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Two words for this place:- Weekend Buffet. They have the best selection of items on the buffet on Saturdays and Sundays. I always make sure I go to the buffet every time I am in this area. The non-buffet experience for me unfortunately at both times was below average. Hence the 4 stars.
(4)Joel J.
One of the best indian restaurants in the DMV area. They have an awesome buffet. Must give a try
(5)Nikhilesh K.
Best Indian food in DMV..This is a completely different paradise..Must eat for sure.. Will recommend it to everyone.
(5)Paco H.
Went here for the lunch buffet with some work colleagues. They do a brisk business here. Best to get here early if you want a table. Lots of delicious choices on the buffet, including some Mongolian cauliflower that I just couldn't get enough of. Spicy and delicious. Service is like many indian buffets: utilitarian and adequate. But you're there for the food, and it doesn't disappoint!

I had the $10 lunch buffet. It was a surprisingly small buffet--it looked big when I first came in, but then I realized that fully half the trays were sauces and salad-ish options. There were not many hot food options at all. What was there was unpleasant. Even the butter chicken wasn't great--the chicken was dry and the sauce was very sweet. Mongolian cauliflower was deep-fried, but soggy. There was no meat that wasn't chicken. There was no dal. The channa masala was just chick peas in a flavorless pool of oil. There were a few kinds of bread available (naan, roti, and something else I didn't try); the naan and roti were both stale. Most other places I've tried bring fresh naan to the table, even when you're having the buffet. Oh, and at the lunch buffet at least, all dishes, flatware, and cups are paper and plastic. Not the best impression. The only nice thing was that I got a whole pitcher of water at the table; I didn't have to flag down a waiter for refills. Which was good, because I didn't see anyone working after I was seated. Finally, when I was ready to leave, the waiter demanded my credit card without giving me a check. I asked for a check (it was my first time there, so I didn't know how much it cost), and the guy just stared at me for a minute and then walked away. I had to go up to the counter to get a check and pay. Sketchy. There are better Indian options for sure. I won't be back to this place.

I ordered Paneer Makhani and they used ketchup as tomato paste. That is not cool. Though my friend ordered Chicken Biryani which according to him was decent.
(2)John V.
Most Indian restaurants want you to believe that they are making the food by letting you wait 30 minutes when they microwave that shit
(2)Cream Cheese C.
This place was fantastic. I went for the Sunday buffet and it was awesomeness. Huge selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food (including goat, hurrah!). The biryani was spicy, the naan was chewy, and the dosas & sambar were perfect. I was really impressed by the northern and southern cuisine available - not a usual combination. The only unimpressive things were the raita (bland) and chutneys (only two options). But otherwise this was very affordable and overall delicious.
(4)Dee G.
They have the best lamb biryani! I have had from other paradise locations too, but this one is the best!
(5)Rachel R.
The double ka meetha, gobi manchurian, and medu vada were soooooo good! The Hyderabadi biryani was also delicious, with tasty whole spices, and it went very well with the curries. Vada and idli were also delicious--the vada were crisply fried and the idly were big and soft, and the coconut chutney was also fresh and tasty. I like a buffet that has more than just butter chicken/saag paneer/samose on the menu, and South Indian food is comparatively hard to find in a lot of parts of the US, so I was very pleased with Paradise and it really hit the spot! I don't live in northern VA (was visiting relatives) but if I did I'd totally be in here once a week. Awesome!
(5)Dan C.
I've been here for lunch buffet and dinner, both of which are great. The buffet is a great deal, but may leave you incapacitated and unable to work the rest of the day. For dinner the food was fantastic. The chicken tiki masala is top notch, and the dosas and curry were great as well. Very good service, they brought us out complimentary rice to go with our meal.

I absolutely love this Restaraunt..... The food is amazing and the owner is always kind, warm and pleasant to me.... I usually order to go as I'm very busy and every time I call they know me by my name .... When I think about moving the first thing that pops into my mind is "oh no I won't be close to Paradise anymore" that's how much I love this Restaraunt.....
(5)Joshua D.
Was really good. Authentic Indian dining experience, complete with Bollywood on the TVs! The service was outstanding and the value was great for the amount of food. I have zero complaints and would definitely go back. The food was a little less spicy actually than I tend to like for similar Indian dishes at my very favorite places and made with just a little too much cream in some cases. Overall, Jaipur and Akshaya still get my vote, but Paradise might be a close third.

I am writing this review only to let others know that its not even worth trying food here!!! We ordered uttapam, cholebatura, masaladosa, vada for dinner on Saturday night. The quantity was a lot with worst food quality. Vada smelled like fish....I don't know what kind of oil or how many times it was reheated. The same with bhatura and the curry tasted bad. The order that didn't smell were dosa and uttapam but didn't taste good. The size of dosa and uttapam would be sufficient for two people but what is the point when they taste bad?? Dosa was not cooked evenly. Overall it was horrible experience and to our surprise the owner is so rude!!!
(1)Shishir S.
If it's for the Dosas and the Chhola Bhatura, I'd give a 4.5 stars in a heartbeat (deducting .5 for the attitude of the head waiter).. But..alas, everything else is so mediocre and mundane that the moment you see the food on the table you know it's a mistake! The buffet is what 70% Indian buffets are..boring, a little bit everything that looks Indian, stale and rushed! The choice of cuts baffles me - to use square rubbery cubes of chicken breast for appetizers and gravy dishes is just just criminal. Anyway, I could go on but in a nutshell - if you have nothing else to go to, by all means do give this place a chance to be welcomed by group of unmannered and confused waiting staff backed up by the most average food ever!
(2)Jessica G.
This is my second time here. I was famished after my massage since I forgot to eat breakfast, and was craving some Indian food. This place has a 12.99 (after tax) lunch buffet. It's not my favorite joint, but it's not bad either. The butter chicken is good. I wish they had more vegetable dishes and less fried foods and rice. Since I eat low carb and gluten free, I really appreciate when Indian buffets have a large selection of proteins and low carb vegetables. I prefer another Indian restaurant further down Elden St., but like I said, this place isn't bad at all. I've just had better.
(3)Christopher B.
I'm pretty sure that if you looked up 'hole in the wall restaurant', a picture of this place would pop up. Located in a non-descript strip mall in Herndon, Paradise is practically invisible. I discovered it only after a search of local Indian places, when the thought of our normal place bored me. As a vegetarian the list of nearly 30 vegetarian entrees thrilled me. Having been the victim of a few bad Indian meals in my day, I remained skeptical...until the first few bites. Someone in the Paradise kitchen knows what they're doing. Sure, takeout orders are occasionally missing something (hence the three stars) but these folks know what they're doing.
(3)Vinay K.
The rating I gave is for customer service. We called up to place an order today for to go. When asked for apetizers they are serving, they respond that they cannot read menu on phone and tell us to check it on their online website instead. Lame pretty lame response. We cancelled the order.
(1)Julie H.
This Indian restaurant is a bit disappointing. Food is decent, nothing that wowed me, servers/service is ok...sometimes a bit rude, the place wasn't even busy when I walked in to make a carry-out order. Their buffet is good if you are looking for a good Indian buffet for lunch.
(3)Todd B.
Food was great; plenty of options, all hot, very fast service. Lots of buffet options, including 8-10 entrees (combination of meat and meat-less), as well as multiple appetizer/add-ons plus a small salad bar with dessert options.
(5)Terry M.
Our favorite Indian buffet in NOVA. Like it spicy and this one delivers, they do great things with okra and cauliflower.... Dishes change visit to visit. Worth the trip to Herndon.
(5)D S.
Personally this place was just not for me. Food is ok but a lot more spicy than most other Indian restaurants. Our drinks came in paper cups. I had more fun eating street vendor food IN India and not once did I have a paper cup. I felt like I crashed a party, kids running everywhere, and the entire restaurant stared at us the entire time we were eating.
(2)Rami S.
Excellent buffet, especially on Fri, Sat and Sun! We go there quite often for Dosas which are probably the best in the area. The Kheema Dosa is awesome and their coconut/peanut chutney and sambar is very tasty. The place is usually packed for the lunch buffet but the service is great. Dinner is a more relaxed time to eat and enjoy the South India delicacies at this restaurant.
(5)M J.
With so many options to eat Indian food in Northern Virginia, it's not easy to stand-out. I have been to Paradise once for buffet on a Friday and twice for carry out. The food has been excellent all the time. The curry for my take out was slightly on the sweet side, but I still loved it. I haven't dined in yet, but I don't see why I would rate that otherwise. My only problem is with the person (not sure if he is the owner) who sits at the counter. I believe he takes the orders on the phone as well. I asked him if they adjust the spice level, he said "no". Which was weird because I know Indian restaurants do that. Secondly, when I would reach there to pick up my food, the way he would walk to me is as if I am getting it for free. No smile, no greetings. Someone needs to probably tickle him a bit. But the rest of the staff seemed to be pleasant. Thankfully, those are the ones, you would normally interact with if you dine-in. I choose food quality over the friendliness of the unknown man at the counter. I will continue to go here.
(4)Naresh U.
Some items were very salty and the owner was very rude. He does not know how to treat customers. Beware, if you go in a group of six or more, they charge you a 15% gratitude. When I go to a restaurant I want to be treated well first.
(1)Alok M.
A decent place for a weekend buffet! I typically just have the goat curry, biryani and the Double Ka Meetha, but its totally worth it. Decent Indian restaurant with decent food.
(3)Towhidul I.
Best Indian food ever. Nice ppl.we love to go there anytime. They hv enough delicious buffet item. I love their chicken. Amazing
(5)Kara M.
Delicious- my go to in nova :) Great for take out!
(4)G A.
The portions are way too large!!! The staff is very pushy!!! I asked for a couple of minutes to decide what I wanted and he kept pestering me every 10 seconds if I had decided yet....very annoying... and even after we finished ordering he kept asking us to order more food!!!! The food was ok...the dosa was way to thick and doughy!!!! Definitely not going back.....
(2)Kelvin P.
My favorite Indian restaurant so far. The buffet and the entrees ordered from the menu were excellent. When I ordered to-go at night, the waiter was odd, but no problems there. I wish this existed in Texas.
(5)David W.
Very hot. Very fresh! Great Chicken Tikki Masala! The saffron rice is excellent & I love the garlic naan!
(4)Abhishek R.
Authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. Double ka meetha, gutthi vankai, a few of the amazing things served in the buffet. Highly recommended
(5)Nichole G.
WOW, we had dinner at Paradise last night and once again, it was amazing! The food is fresh, the quality is great, and the restaurant is clean. The service is also good and wait staff very nice. We had the spinach dosa, chicken biryani and kadai shrimp. We asked for mild since their medium is usually really spicy. The mild was perfect and had plenty of spice. The shrimp were cooked perfectly! They had a nice crunch and were SO TASTY! My all time favorite indian dish. Can't wait to go there again soon!
(5)Andrew R.
pretty good dependable indian food, but nothing that knocked my socks off. the aloo channa was good, and the garlic naan was good as well. service wasn't the friendliest, and i thought my friends curry tasted a bit funny but he got something i don't normally order. it wasn't quite closing time but i felt like we got rushed out the door.
(3)Vijay S.
Worst experience , no manners to waiter. Hearing problem , they will miss what you have ordered and after some they will say you have not ordered the missing thing .no taste for food , no coming again

Ate here yesterday for valentines day, I didnt feel like waiting hours for a nice dinner so we had a nice lunch instead. I was very satisfied by everything I tried, the food tasted fresh and it was all hot, nothing was greasy or funky except the goat, but thats a good funk! This place had a mostly non WASP clientel, so Im thinking the food must be pretty authentic. I honestly don't know many of the names for the dishes, but we tried a little of everything and it was all great! I was happy to see what appeared to be a stir fried dish of straight up green chile peppers, they were surprisingly NOT spicy and I really enjoyed that dish. The naan was good as well, and the b.f. scarfed up on the goat, yum! Only two issues I had: 1. Dude at the door looked like he belonged in the Adams family ( you know the butler that the family had that didnt smile or speak?) This guy was SOUR he didnt say hello or smile ONCE I HATE that! Even if he was having a bad day he couldve been a tiny bit more gracious. And it wasnt just us, he was a sourpuss to everyone he sat. 2. The non exsistent waiting area. You step thru the door and you are right beside tables, there is NO space to wait and believe me this place was PACKED with people waiting so just getting out past them was an issue and I dont see how they could resolve that without getting a bigger place. All told we spent 28 bucks and left very satisfied.
(4)Wes G.
Not very good, have had much better food. Did not stack up, food was dry, bland [not good for an indian restaurant], and some Naan tasted stale.
(2)Naveen S.
One of the best Indian in NoVA region and food is very Authentic! Have been to this restaurant at least 15 times and have catered food for my son's B'day too! Love the Taste!!!! Forgot to add...they have the Best Indo Chinese food on menu! Chicken lollipop, Manchuria, Hakka noodles..etc.
(5)Michael A.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in the area, and my go to when I'm craving something spicy. You know an indian place is good when they're playing indian music videos on the flat screens. I come here so often, they know my order. "The Usual" for me is the Chicken Tikka Kebab, Thali Style (and I highly reccomend you get it Thali Style.) For five extra dollars you get naan, a soup, usually three kinds of vegetables (almost always one of which is spicy yellow lentils) and a dessert (which tends to be bread pudding, which is my absolute favorite and totally to die for.) The kebab itself is succulent, choice cuts of meat expertly spiced (just enough to make you want one of their amazing mango lassis) and grilled to perfection, served sizzling on a skillet that has made three people ask their waiters what i got. The service is always outstanding. The worst that i think best describes it is, "doting." The bill comes out to like 20 bucks, and i'm stuffed and blissed out of my gourd. 10/10, everything you'd want in an indian restaurant, and nothing you don't.
(5)Jennifer S.
Got to the restaurant at the end of the lunch buffet-never a good idea to eat at the end of the buffet. The food had been sitting for a while and was not fresh. I will blame that on myself. However, the reason I gave this one star was the cleanliness. I will never eat here again because every surface was horribly dusty. The floors were filthy too. Unfortunately I did not notice until after I started eating.
(1)Gene I.
One of the best Indian restaurants. Mostly went to the buffets. Really tasty food for the most part. My rating: SHOULD TRY
(4)ken k.
The flood was salty and there were roaches on the wall. I would put a 1 star but yelp filters reviews where there is a negative response.
(1)David L.
One of the better indian buffets in the area
(4)Jesse C.
Of all the Indian buffets I've been to, this one is probably the best. I'm not a connoisseur of Indian buffets, so I don't really know what makes great ones. To me, the food here just seems to have more flavor then the other places I've been to. The butter naan is good, as is the butter chicken. I can't name the other dishes, but they all have their own distinct flavors, which I like. They also have a couple of dishes that are super spicy. That isn't saying much for me as I can't handle the spicy stuff anymore. My friends want to take away my Asian card =) . Well they can't have it just yet =). The service here is fine. I've been here probably 5 times and the staff is always friendly. I like how they leave a pitcher of water on your table. Our table did finish a pitcher one time and they were there to replace it with a new one. The only thing I will ding them on is the speed they refill the food. Mostly the butter chicken. It sees every time I'm there, the tray is empty or there is just a couple of pieces floating around. Most of the other dishes come put pretty fast. They just need to put two trays of butter chicken =). The best thing of all, is the price. $10. How can you go wrong? You can't. So, if you are in the mood for an Indian buffet, go check this place out. If you can't find parking out front, there are more spaces in the back.
(4)Srinagesh P.
We hired paradise Indian cuisine for our son's wedding dinner and the food was excellent and tasty with several varieties. All the guests were raving about the food and we even recommended them for another wedding dinner. They maintain the timings and food arrived few minutes before the requested time. The food was freshly made perfectly cooked with optimal spices. Food handlers were excellent and courteous. We will definitely hire them for any future occasions.
(5)Sampad D.
I went there for a weekday lunch guess its worth the money.. the buffet is not very costly and not much variety (could be due to weekday) ..The chicken curry just stood out... Will recommend !
(3)Liz A.
Good quality and tasty Southern Indian cuisine. They had plenty of vegetarian main meals, which are always my favorite. Having the choice of rice, naan or roti with all main dishes was nice as well. The spice level on the dishes was good, not blow your head off but not mild either. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the spice level on all the dishes were the same. I come from the UK and have eaten a lot of Indian/Bangladeshi food and I'm use to different levels of spice to different dishes. We ordered 3 main dishes between the 2 of us and had plenty left over to take home for lunch the next day. We'd defiantly go back.
(4)Hemanth J.
Bahuth Spicy swadh jabardasth hain, Double ka meetha 100 marks, chili chicken out of the world, mutton spicy spicy, gulab jamun okay, service very good, ambience nice
(5)Lydia R.
Paradise is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in the area! I went here with a friend for the lunch buffet on a Saturday after an intense hot yoga session. My friend and I have both been to several Indian restaurants, and we agreed that the selection here is amazing. There are more dishes here than other Indian buffets in the area, and the price is exceptionally low. I will say I have experienced better service.
(4)Johnny F.
This was my first experience to an Indian restaurant and all I can say is WOW. I had such a fantastic time it was a real treat. I ordered the lamb Biryani and it was incredibly tasty. I also had a samosa for appetizer. My friends ordered the buttered chicken and that too tasted great. I highly recommend this place to all. They also have a $10 all you can eat buffet for lunch. I'm considering taking my family here for Father's Day lunch this Sunday. Dinner prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite plentiful. Good job Paradise, keep up the great work.
(5)Christy H.
Found this place on trusty ol' Yelp. Ordered chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and asked the guy on the phone for a little order of rice. I'm not sure if the rice was included or what, but the guy was super nice, "oh don't worry, I'll put rice in there." When I went to pick it up, the place was pretty empty but it looked nice inside. My food came out to $17 which wasn't bad considering how much it was. I only finished half of everything and I'm SUPER full. The chicken tikka masala was... interesting, not bad, but interesting. It doesn't really taste like any chicken tikka masla I've ever had. This was much creamier and not as flavorful. But it wasn't bad! I liked it. I'll definitely be re-heating these leftovers at some point this trip. I was definitely surprised and content with my meal.
(4)Jim M.
I eat a lot of Indian food usually with coworkers from India. This is one of our go-to places when in the area. I like how when my Indian friends order the food "spicy ... Indian spicy" the waiter looks at me. My friend has to assure them that I'm fine and can eat it. Usually I can.
(4)Gregory R.
Paradise is the best Indian buffet in Northern Virginia. They have many vegetarian options. While I have never had a bad dish, their best dish is the Gobi Manchurian. It is a battered and fried cauliflower dish with a Chinese inspired spicy sauce.
(5)Laksh N.
I have been there several times and also have been to parties where they catered to. Great food and never short of quantities. Very family friendly . Let me add that the Management is extremely attentive and never short of going out of their way to make sure that the experience is Superlative.
(5)Huntting B.
5 Stars for the Buffet! Oh man! Dericious! And spicy! Oh man, super duper awesome spicy like! The buffet was delicious! They have Chicken 65, Ghost Curry, Biriyani, Tandoori, Naan, Veggie Fried Rice, Butter Chicken! Yeah there's a lot of veggie dishes there too, but who cares about that! Why 5 stars? Because with the buffet I was sweating! That is AWESOME! Oh man! No where else has ever had me feel that spicy at a buffet...I was in spice heaven!
(5)E S.
Horrible take-out experience. $15 for lamb vindaloo to come home and find a SMALL CUP container (like the small-size Chinese hot-and-sour soup container, no joke) And on top of that half the "lamb" in the sauce was potato chunks! I would have understood the size if it was packed with meat and only a couple potatoes, but it really wasn't. The dinner sized lentils ($11) and eggplant (another 11$) came in the same small container. Laughable... Do they actually give you a normal portion if you sit down to eat? What's all these comments about side chutneys that come with your food? I don't even want freebies, but a CUP of lentils should not run me a 10 dollar note unless I am in downtown Washington DC and even then... it better be next to the White House....
(1)Michael C.
Went here for dinner and ordered lamb vindaloo and two vegetarian entrees. Food was very good but over salted. Would like to try the lunch buffet and sample more dishes.
(3)Akshat M.
Awesome food and awesome Service. One of the best Indian Restaurant I have been in US.Food tastes yummy . Good quantity of food served with good quality!!
(5)A. S.
Not. Good. Went here for a Saturday lunch. Immediately saw that they had a buffet table set up. This was my first (and only) time here, so I didn't know if we'd also have the option of ordering off the menu, but I figured the waiter would explain it. Well, not only did the waiter explain nothing, but he didn't even speak to us. He showed up, poured some water, and left. We sat there a while, thinking he'd at least be back to ask us what we wanted to drink (I did not want water), but he never came back. I should mention at this point that there was only one other party there and a room full of waiters doing nothing, which made it all the worse that not a single person said a word to us. So anyway, our waiter never came back to the table, and no one else said anything to us, so we finally figured that no one would be taking drink orders or bringing a menu, so we just wandered over to the buffet. The selection was ok, though a bit limited (no samosas), but whatever. I filled my plate with some stuff and got to eatin'. Unfortunately, none of it was very good. It wasn't hot, first of all. The chicken was D-R-Y. The yellow rice tasted like it had spent way too long next to a cinnamon stick. Et cetera, et cetera. So, we finished and were waiting for the check, and the waiter never came. We waited so long we thought maybe we should go up to the register, so we did, and the guy there told us to go back and wait for the waiter. (Really? Why don't YOU go get my waiter, because obviously he's not coming to my table, otherwise I wouldn't be up here at the register.) So we went back to the table and waited some more, and finally some other waiter noticed we were sitting there waiting to leave, and he brought us our check. And finally I was able to get the hell out of there. Don't go here if you're at all bothered by absolutely terrible service.
(1)Victoria S.
Paradise is very decent - I would say it's a safe and good bet! Lots of Indians in there so you know it can't be bad. The atmosphere is a bit cafeteria style and it's not the swankiest of places. But for Indian buffets you're really not expecting much on atmosphere.
(3)Elizabeth B.
Don't get the cucumber "salad" they will literally only give you a sliced up piece of cucumber. No tomato, onion and dressing like most places. No even salt and pepper on it. The vegetable fried rice is very good and the mango milk shake.
(3)Paul W.
The servers were attentive and friendly and brought us mango drinks (Kulfi?) on the house, and the buffet (all that is rated) is cheap. That brings it up to 3 stars. The veggie dishes on the buffet were quite a bit better than the meat dishes. The meat dishes were nothing to write home about -- everything but the goat was dry enough to make the Sahara jealous. And don't think that means the goat was awesome -- it was as much gristle as meat with some bone chips thrown in for good measure. The buffet did have a decent selection of southern and northern dishes (from what little I know of Indian cuisine) and some south-east Asian dishes as well. The Naan was ok -- a little on the dry side. Bottom line: If you are a meat-eater, you can do better. If you are vegetarian, this might not be a bad option.
(3)Joseph W.
This place is amazing!!!!!! The food is SO GOOD no matter what you order! The Buffett is reasonably priced and for the amount and quality of food you get-- totally worth it!!! I'm Indian- so I'm actually very critical when it comes to reviewing Indian restaurants:) Butter chicken is the best you're going to find around here. Chicken biryani is delicious!!!! The menu is priced fairly. And the staff is so friendly and attentive! While you're waiting for take out, they always take good care of you by providing mango shakes for you and your family!!!!
(4)Lebanese Princess S.
If you're craving Indian food....This is the place for you! May not look like it from the outside, but the food is AMAZING!!! Butter chicken would have to be my favorite! I have to warn you... You might be addicted to this stuff! You won't regret it!! :)
(5)Gregor B.
For dosa, this is pretty darn good. Huge. Crispy outside, soft delicious inside. 100% traditional south Indian. And the dosa is gluten free, of course. You ask how could it be otherwise, since dosa is made with rice and lentils... - you laugh, but ask about your next dosa!! So many places have added wheat flour to their recipes it is sad. Excellent wait staff too. Thanks!!!
(5)Anita C.
The first thing I would like to mention in this review is the amazing take-out service. I ordered a few entrees to go, and when I arrived to pick them up, the man at the front desk told me to sit and brought me a bottle of chilled water. He then brought the check to me, and asked one of the employees to help bring the bags of food out to my car. What excellent, excellent take out service! For that I add 1 star already! Onto the food. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and rice. The butter chicken here leans sweeter than at other Indian places I've been to, but the basics are the same - creamy, rich sauce with tender chicken. I especially enjoyed the fluffy, warm, garlicky naan. I'll definitely be back here - I was pleased with my take-out experience.

Let's see if I can remember all of the horrible things that happened to me at lunch today. - I checked the website before going and saw that there was a lunch buffet *and* a menu selection available. - When I arrived, I was seated promptly, but then ignored for quite some time... no menu, no drink except water. After what seemed like too long passed, I finally was asked what I wanted to drink, ordered, and then was told to "go ahead" to the buffet. Honestly, I'd looked at their menu online and was prepared to order from that, but I'm not too fussy, so I thought I'd give the buffet a try, but I was still displeased by the tone of the order to go to the buffet and the assumption that I didn't want to order from the menu. - The buffet only had a spicy Indian rice on it and a "Veggie Fried Rice" that looked like something you'd find on a Chinese place's buffet. I *wanted* some plain jasmine or similar rice that you find at most Indian places, but no--not on the buffet. The veggie fried rice was totally out of place and the lack of any other plain, non-spicy rice was terrible. I honestly need something to cut though the spice of the rest of the food, not add to it. - The only naan on the buffet was plain. I had seen on the menu that they had garlic naan, which I *love*, so I flagged down a server (also annoying--no one really checked on me the whole time I was there until I was done... more on that in a minute) and asked for some. I got a very snotty "I'll see if the kitchen has the time to do that" (or something very similar). Um, what? The website very clearly advertises that a buffet AND menu are available, but I'm not allowed to order anything off of the menu?! I should say that I did get my garlic naan and it was actually some of the best garlic naan I've had. It was really the only food item that was exceptional, though. - I was completely ignored until I finished eating and then I apparently didn't pay fast enough for the impatient employees because I had three different people try to collect the check before I'd even gotten out my wallet. RUDE! I served in a restaurant long enough to know that you should never EVER chase a customer out... and I also know not to sit for too long taking up a table. But, I think it is fair to want just a few minutes at the end of my meal to digest before having to move. I was appalled at the hurried atmosphere created by the staff, but... - Paying was somewhat of a moot point because, for some reason, this place started to fill up like crazy at 1:30 pm (and today was a Sunday, so I just don't understand wtf is going on here... it could very well be lost on me in my non-church-going, white-girl ways) and my table near the door was just about crowded out entirely. Again, RUDE--why did they allow people to crowd my table? Not cool. Either way, I did then pay and leave as quickly as I could because I started to feel claustrophobic--something that doesn't normally bother me. I also had someone who was waiting nearly knock over my water glass because the staff neglected to control the crowd at the door. - Not the restaurant's fault entirely, but I was seated right next to a screeching kid for half of my meal. I'm not a parent and I'm usually tolerant of kid-noise but this was the make-your-ears-bleed kind of screeching that can only come from a 2-3 year old... and this one was totally happy to just destroy the whole restaurant as well as my eardrums with his version. He was actually so bad that the entire place went quiet a few times. Shame on the mother for not taking him out after the first instance. Bottom line: REALLY DISAPPOINTING! This is the first time in a while that Yelp has let me down. I had high hopes because the reviews for this place are overall good. Maybe today was a blip, but they'd have to pay me to eat here again. And I made sure to tell all 20+ of my friends that I saw at a get-together right after my meal what a terrible experience I had, because they live in the area and I wanted to save them the hassle later. F-. Horrible. Avoid at all costs. Go to another place nearby. Would not try again. Total FAIL.

We both hadn't had indian food in ages, and having just moved to the area, decided to look on yelp and find the highest rated place close to us. Hence we ended up at Paradise. Its it a strip mall, although its fairly spacious inside, and nicely decorated. The TVs with the Bollywood pop music was interesting at first, but gets annoying after a while. The food was excellent. I had the chicken tikka masala, which was very tasty, and the fiancee had the ginger chicken, also a good dish. The thali version is a good portion of food with lots of good sauces and condiments. My one complaint would be the service. While the waiter was friendly for the most part and attentive, he forgot our order of garlic naan. When I reminded him, I was rudely told I never ordered it. I didn't appreciate that at all.

I am travelling on business and was looking forward to trying some new Indian places. My wife & I went here for lunch today. At lunch time, it's buffet only - no ordering from the menu. We were allowed to take food with us when we left, with a surcharge. The buffet was good & offered a wide selection, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were one of the very few non-indians there (and it was packed/busy place) and I felt that we were somewhat ignored / treated as second-class customers since we didn't speak the language. The most obvious example of this was when I attempted get our check. After being finished eating & being ignored for about 10 minutes I went to the counter where the manager told me he would bring me the check momentarily. After another 15 minutes, I stopped a passing waiter & asked for the check. He stated he would be right back with it - he wasn't. After another 10 minutes I went back to the counter where I was finally able to pay my check. The food was good, and it's obviously a favorite place for the locals. If like me, you're a non-Indian tourist, it may be worth a try if you're not in a hurry.

This place is absolutely amazing! I love the food and the mango smoothie at the end! Everything is full of flavor. I recommend that you come and feast here!
(5)Natan O.
Went here on a late weekday night and thought everything was tasty and affordable. The menu selection was vast and the food was decent. If you order your items with the "dinner" plate you get a bunch of side dishes which compliment the dish very well. While Paradise didn't blow me out of the water I was pleasantly surprised to find good Indian food in this DC suburb.
(3)Omer A.
Great choice for buffet. I have been to many Indian restaurants and this one really tops all the other ones I have been to. Customer service could be better and desert section is very lacking. All in all a great place!
(4)Eastie T.
They have really good Biryani and curries if you visit in the evenings. The lunch is a all-you-can-eat buffet. The service is good and eve the quality, the food is nice but I can say I have seen and ate better, though being a frequent over there I cant say a four for now.... Try the Thali with a curry, you get a lot of veggies, rice and naan which is a good bet.
(3)Emperor J.
Spicy but very good selection on buffet. Decent price also. Wait staff is ok but you come for the food not the service here.
(5)Dishy P.
I went here yesterday for their lunch buffet and it was great! This place is a tie with my other favorite Indian buffet place (Minerva near Fairfax Circle). Everything I had was really good. They had one thing that I'd never had before - something dark that looks sort of like a large date but it was a vegetable and very soft inside. I had one and it was good but I have no idea what it was. But that was kind of fun! I will definitely be back soon. Really tasty, good service, and lots of dishes to choose from!
(5)Johnise M.
We love Paradise's dosas! They are terrific, there are a ton to pick from, and they are quite generously portioned! the Hubs like chicken 65, and I the lamb.
(4)Manzana Z.
I love their lunch buffet, only about 12 each. Little spicy indian authentic food. Their chicken was absolutely yummy and fresh
(4)Jj L.
Went in on a lazy Sunday evening and had me a masala dosa. Huge, more than enough for two. Sambar and coconut chutney were a bit spicier than I would have liked, but all in all, it was great. Food was cooked quickly and served hot/fresh. The servers could have been a bit better trained (never refilled my water and did not know the dishes on the menu well). On the bottom of the recipt, I noticed the city of Herndon tacks on an extra city tax (scumbags), I will try my hardest to dine outside of Herndon from now on. If you want Indian and need to stay in Herndon, this is the spot.
(5)Priya D.
I am not from Virginia area but when I was here for training a colleague of mine looked around places to eat and said we try this place. We ordered a lamb dum biryani (spicy) and chicken tikka plate. The biryani here was a kadai biryani ..meaning it was not made in dum style. What they do with kadai biryani is after we order, they do a tadka and add rice and lamb separately in a pan and mix it well with desired amount of spice and send our way. I was so disappointed with the biryani. It was spicy..but that was about it. They advertise it to be dum biryani. If they don't make it dum style, then they should just say it. The biryani we ended up getting was just like mixing white plain rice with lamb curry. Chicken tikka on the other side was decent. Bottom line - Do not go here if you really want to eat a true hyderabadi biryani. I haven't had a chance to try to other curry dishes and they might be good. The dessert I got - double ka meeta - was overly greasy and ruined my taste. There is just too much oil oozing into your mouth when you take a bite of it. Also, it was served COLD.,err..rather luke warm. I guess they didn't care enough to microwave it for another 20secs. This is a big no no for double ka meeta.
(2)Gaurang S.
Buffet is good during weekends ! Food is real Indian spicy ! Like it.
(4)Morris S.
Terrific! Rolled into here on a rainy night, based on Yelp reviews, with an out of town friend. Everything was first rate, despite it being a quiet Tuesday night. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. The bhindi and baighan bharta were terrific. Don't know if I could find the place again, but it was a real keeper.
(4)Bleu W.
This place is excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious- paneer tikka Masala, chicken tikka masala, naan (paneer naan, regular naan). This is going to be a favorite restaurant for us whenever we are in the area- a wonderful find. We ordered as take out so we enjoyed it back at the hotel.
(4)Cee L.
Only been here for lunch buffet. Not a lot of options but delicious. Not sure what I was eating all the time but everything was great. Only one dish had small pieces of chicken bone hence the 4 star and not 5.
(4)Minger M.
The flavors here are spot on. I came for the lunch buffet on Sunday. Service is fairly attentive, at least for clearing plates off the table. Afterwards we took a walk around that mall and noticed lots of other Indian restaurants and an Indian spice shop. I might be tempted sometime to check those out. This place came recommended by a friend.
(4)Alan M.
Sunday lunch buffet at an Indian restaurant sounded great. I was expecting Curry, and Chicken Tikka Masala, great briyani, and delicious appetizing food. There was no curry, or masala, but the Butter Chicken was decent. The chicken was not tender, but the creamy sauce was nice. My guests did not eat much, and one even vomited afterward. We spoke to the manager and asked them not to charge one of my guests as they barely ate anything. At a normal restaurant, they would say no problem, or allow you to try somethings to see how it suits your taste buds. This manager responds, "next time you touch, I charge." I was outraged, and fortunately for him, I was not there to hear it. Not to mention I was not done trying the dessert dishes I had picked out before the waiter rudely removed the food while I was eating it. I am a local Herndon resident all my life, and this is the first time I have experienced bad service at a restaurant off of Elden St. I have traveled around the US and eaten at different Indian restaurants. They have always been good. Herndon is a small but busy town that is known to be friendly. Walking into Paradise Indian Cuisine, was more like Hell in a hand basket with table cloth. Great location, wasted on such a poorly managed establishment. Unprofessional.
(1)Ash M.
Tried buffet over the weekend. Great food like goat curry, biryani, naan customer service could be better.
(3)Coco P.
Great food!! It's difficult for me to find an Indian restaurant that I like since I have such high standards when it comes to Indian food but paradise is great. They could make a few improvements in the decor department though.
(4)Emilia C.
My father, having lived in India, turned my family into Indian food fanatics. My husband and I have carried on that tradition and are absolutely addicted to Paradise. It's tough to read harsh reviews here because we have dined in and ordered take out literally hundreds of times and they are always superb. Their food is much more flavorful than most Indian restaurants and the selection is amazing. Our favorites: Palak Paneer Shrimp Maharaja Kadai Lamb Butter Chicken Dahl Markhani Spring Dosa The list goes on. Why limit yourself to only reviewing a restaurant for its buffet? True test of a restaurant is consistency of menu items, not a trough of food for cheap humans. This place is top knotch!!!
(5)Danny M.
Looks like this is where the Peda party is at. Big menu, attentive service, and most importantly - what looks to be and tastes like, the best Indian restaurant around. You'll find this corner restaurant frequented by local Desi families that seem curiously absent from another impressively decor'ed place only blocks away. The Vindaloo was properly spiced up and the waiter was considerate enough to ask if I wanted "extra spicy" which I appreciated instead of assuming gora can't hang. Most notably, nothing we had on the menu was a dud. I can't speak on their best offerings as of yet but the bar is clearly set higher here than the kitchen in other locales. Perhaps more to come later as I know my Masala much better. Definitely recommended. Unlike a a more outwardly appealing competitor nearby - Paradise is within.
(4)Jorina N.
Based on other reviews, we went here for dinner. We had the vindaloo chkn and the jalfrezi chkn entrees with the crepe w/ vegetable chutney apps. Everything was just superb!! Tasty! Maybe I am a bit partial because we use similar spices at home for my American/Asian/Healthy fusion cooking but they had the right amt of spice, flavor and the service was very friendly and attentive! Not only that, we had plenty to take home for next day's lunch! Yum!! Will be back and will bring friends!!
(5)Yusuf S.
Very standard Indian Buffet. Nothing like Minerva in Herndon. I have yet to see a place that beats them. Some examples of this place: Dosas were thick and borderline burnt Beriyani was dry, and when you got from the bottom it was less dry but you always bite into either bone-shards or hard spices like star anise, or something else just as un-chewable. Naan, was painted with loads of ghee, oil or butter or whatever. Was crispy - not chewy. Butter Chicken- was very standard- nothing special at all. Extra creamy, but not in a good way, chicken cut in cubes, looked like paneer but was chicken- not spicy at all. Never again for me.
(2)TJ M.
This is my current "GoTo" place for Chicken Tikka Masala in the Reston area. It's tasty, although I wouldn't put it in my all time fav places. But definitely worth a try. The Chicken Korma was "ok". Certainly edible, but I'd rather get their CTM. Parking isn't an issue as this is in a small strip mall.
(4)Ryan M.
Great buffet! Delicious butter chicken, tasty chili chicken (it's spicy!), mouthwatering curry chicken (on the bone), and lots of piquant sauce options (running out of synonyms for 'delicious'). Butter Naan was a little dry, but it was a buffet. Would definitely come back. Note that the buffet closes at 2:30pm.
(4)Stanley S.
This is my go-to Indian place when I am at work. It's vegetarian selection is massive compared to most places. They even have a pretty good selection in the buffet line. My favorite dish is Manchurian Cauliflower (it's sometimes other veggies too) which is spicy, but not overwhelming and the flavoring is incredible. I've had some nasty and mediocre dishes, but more often than not they will be top notch. The only thing I can complain about is that you sometimes have to wait for the check, which is weird because you never have to wait for water.
(4)Mahesh K.
Paradise weekend buffet has a good spread and with a good mix of south and north Indian fare. Naan, puri, bhindi fry, paneer makhani, chicken biryani, curd rice, dosa, vada, idly, double ka meetha, gajar halwa etc. Thats a lot of food for one meal. But a lot people had a few rounds of meals easily because of the great taste of the food. All 23 of us had a great lunch and a really good time at this restaurant. Good friendly service by the wait staff and good arrangement of food made for a nice lunch venue for a big group like ours.
(4)Mythic G.
Still the best buffet of Indian food in town! My coworkers agree, the buffet has great variety and is consistent in quality. Be advised that they spice up the dishes here, to a medium heat, which I find perfect. Many varieties of chicken are on the buffet: biryani, butter, chili. They also have a lamb dish. Rounding out the hot bar are palak paneer, gobi (fried cauliflower), and various vegetable dishes. The buffet also includes a salad/dessert bar. Indians comprise much of the clientele, which I believe to be a good sign. N.B. I HAVE NOT ORDERED ENTREES OR TAKE OUT HERE.
(5)Honey S.
I went here for the lunch buffet today with my colleagues and it was fantastic. I can't say one negative thing about it :) We paid $22 for 2 buffets and 2 soda's AND they gave us a $10 gift certificate to use for the next time! So the decor is blah but the BUTTER CHICKEN was the bomb! The buffet is so fresh, so big, and they kept restocking the food. The wait staff kept my soda full and were super friendly! We went around 11:30 AM and it wasn't busy so we had the whole buffet to ourselves. It's my new go-to for Indian Buffets in the area. The other places I have gone in the area are busy, smaller buffets, less variety, and less quality. Gold star for Paradise!
(4)Amro N.
$35 with tip for two people. Good food, excellent service, excellent food presentation. Only thing I didn't like was the TV playing Bollywood music videos -- ruins the otherwise low-key and romantic mood of dim lighting. For any entree, I recommend paying the extra $3 and getting the Thali version -- you get salty tomato soup, a yogurt-and-tomato raita, a yellow lentil dhal, bread pudding, naan, and rice, all presented in small pewter cups on a tray surrounding your entree. I got goat vindaloo thali. The curry base was spicy and thick, but not greasy, and arrrived steaming hot out of the kitchen. The goat meat is fresh, and presented on the bone, which allows you to suck out the marrow, horrifying others at the table. (Hey, I'm a meat-eater.) The vegetables in the vegetarian curry were crisp and not overcooked. I'm not sure of the names of spices in Indian cuisine, but without being specific, the curry was good.
(4)Lindsey J.
This place is amazing! I love their butter chicken. I've had a few of their other dishes like their tandoori chicken and their eggplant dish, and they're all really great. It's very quiet and empty in there most of the time, but the servers are very prompt to fill your water. The wait for food when dining could be a little faster, but it's still great! Their take-out is easy and fast! I definitely recommend this Indian restaurant to everyone! It's also affordable compared to the other Indian restaurants around the area.
(5)Shaggy L.
I have been to their lunch buffet many times and loved most of the items offered in the buffet. Almost all other Indian buffet places keep dry biryani in the buffet which look like some left over food but the biryani offered here was fresh. As per my friends, food is either a hit or miss at this place but luckily it was always a hit for me. I liked the goat liver pieces mixed in the mutton curry. Also like their Double ka Meetha dessert. Bottom line: I would definitely suggest their lunch buffet. It's worth it.
(4)Tina M.
Very big menu (more vegetarian than meat lovers, but plenty for them too). You can actually tell a difference between chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, which is better than many Indian places. Butter chicken is usually my favorite, but here it was too sweet for me. They do seem to give you more meat than most places, which is nice. I don't think they noticed that they messed up our order - we didn't want to bother with sending one dish back. We ordered the "thala" version (if I recall the name correctly) for an extra couple of dollars and they brought out more food than either my boyfriend or I could eat on our own. I would suggest splitting this larger version or just order the regular meal. The service was great - never once had to ask for more water. They gave us two $10 coupons with our check, which was unexpected and nice. One change that would be nice - turn the lights up just a little, it was really dim in there!
(3)Jeff T.
I can only speak for the lunch buffet, but it was very good. I agree with the previous reviewer that the food can be pretty spicy, though it seemed to differ a lot by dish. Some of the people in our group had a problem with the amount of heat, while others did not. High points were the chicken biryani, the chili garlic chicken, and the goat curry. I enjoyed most of the other items as well, but those were my favorites. The only low points for me were the dosa (probably my fault as I grabbed a dried out piece), and the gulab jamun (syrup was thin, and they were a little rubbery for my taste). The place was pretty busy, but we were seated after a pretty short wait (6 people in our party), and the buffet was regularly replenished during the lunch rush. Picthers of water at the table were kept full, which helped given the spiciness. The food and atmosphere is very comparable to Minerva restaurant (also in Herndon), but I thought the service was a little friendlier, and the food a little less spicy (though still too spicy for some). The buffet was also a bargain at just under $10 including tip per person. I'll definitely be going back.
(4)C C.
Flavorful, authentic Indian food. First off, this place gets a lot of business from Indians. Always a good sign when people who are from that country eat there. Food on buffet is actually spicy, most buffets tone it way down on the heat but Paradise, although not overly spicy, actually makes some dishes for buffet with descent amounts of heat. Nothing to make you reach for the water though (I wish it were hotter). As with all buffets, go early or when it's very busy. You get fresher food. Don't complain when you come in at 3:00PM Tuesday and your food looks like its been out for a while (because it has!).
(4)Colleen S.
This place is second to none!! Their delicious vegetarian entrees are amazingly spicy and flavorful. the lunch buffet is a great way to try so many delicious entrees without killing your pocket book. The selections were wonderful, offering, chicken, beef, lots of veggies, even dessert. The seasonings were just what one would expect. For those who don't really like true Indian seasonings, they even offered a few non Indian dishes, such as soft noodles and a small salad bar. The coconut chutney was some of the best I have ever had. This is our go to place from now on when we are in the area.
(5)MelindaJane T.
good eats
(5)Zach K.
They have such a large menu, so much so that it's pretty much hit or miss--some dishes are good and some aren't so good. Pretty dim, uninviting atmosphere. Service is not the best. It's just OK.
(3)Frank W.
I found the luch buffet lacking a good selection of foods. Taste was average and service ... What service? There are much better place close by if you are looking for Indian food?
(2)Sid R.
Defintely the one of most authentic spicy Indian food in the US. We went there with mixed expectations, more often than not we have been dissappointed with the indian fare. We skirted with indo-chinese and traditional. The dry gobi(cauliflower)manchurain was perfect- right spice, garnish and less food colour. Most places splash too much colour which is how it is served in most middle class restuarants back home, the classier ones do not. The vegetable gravy manchurian had the right sauce though the shape of it was flatter than round. The vegetable noodles was spicy but did feel it lacked veggies fully- had a bit much of cabbagge and less of scallions. Chicken biriyani was a mix of right flavours and spice, the saffron was noticeable. Finally the Ras-Malai was well made, it had been taken out of the freezer so had a little bit of ice chunks but very authentic. Their portions are big which is normally a case with inexpensive restaurants unlike a "Rasika" but then who cares, box up the grub for another day.
(5)Heartgood V.
I have been here several times for buffet/dinner and their biryani, dosa, chicken 65 never disappointed. Although I would go elsewhere for punjabi food and dessert. Despite their bad customer service I kept going because their food was so good. The last time I was here, I got some food to go and upon going home I saw a whole ROACH FLOATING IN MY FOOD. I called them and got a complete FAKE apology after which they hung up on me. I will never be going back to this place again. Cleanliness and hygiene doesn't seem to be their priority !
(1)Todd A.
An extensive lunch buffet where I am frequently the only caucasian in the room - always a good sign. Always packed at lunch, the buffet stays well stocked at all times and there are some interesting dishes I've not seen elsewhere - Manchurian Goba or battered and deep fried cauliflower that is simply sensational. The Tandoori, Butter Chicken and other Indo-Pak standards are all worthy. And sometimes there are some goat or lamb dishes on the buffet. This is the best I've had in the area and there is fierce competition in Indian cuisine here.
(4)Chris C.
Their weekday lunch buffet does not have the biggest selection, but the food has always been good and the service is excellent.
(4)Ashley A.
I love love love this place. I've stopped going to all other Indian places in the area since I found Paradise. Their Palak Paneer is awesome, even my boyfriend who hates spinach and always refuses to eat Palak Paneer has started to order it here. Their dosas are huge and malai kofta yummy. Im still trying new things on the menu to see if anything will top their paneer. Their service, however, is pretty bad. The first time I was here, I never had to ask for water, but they forgot to bring out beers until we finished up the meal and didnt want them anymore. The second time, I had to beg for water. The servers disappear for long periods. Get take out or go for the good food, but expect poor service.
(4)T D.
My husband and I have become regulars at Paradise after searching for great Indian food in the area after moving here two years ago! The chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and naan are some of the best I have ever had! Plus, they introduced us to Dosa, which is a new favorite of ours! Skip the horrible service at the slightly more popular angeethi down the street and try out paradise, you won't be disappointed! They are always friendly and the food is always delicious.
(5)Sarah S.
I like the buffet (read my reviews) but the dinner is 2 stars - it's not bad, just too expensive for what you get. I would come again. Me and my friend liked the goat, the butter chicken, the chicken 65, the fruit custard and the other dessert dish. Lunch buffet is $12 on weekends. On a weekday, the buffet is $10, but they didn't have goat and they didn't have the other dessert dish. They had chili chicken instead of chicken 65, and the chili chicken was good too. I was disappointed they didn't have goat, but at least it was cheaper.
(4)Steven L.
I started looking around the Reston area for good indian food and landed here due to the reviews. First off Yelp is wrong and Paradise doesn't deliver. Still, with it just around the corner I ordered take out and went on my way. The food ended up being ok, nothing spectacular. It was actually a bit pricey for the amount of food I received. I almost didn't eat it because the paper bag inside the plastic delivery bag was splattered with all sorts of foods, none what I ordered. Worse, the food was leaking out when we got it. The staff didn't seem interested in fixing it. Had the inside of the bag held anything other than our food splatterings and I not spent $30 I probably wouldn't have eaten it. All in all a disappointing experience.
(2)Sheryl C.
We order take out from here all the time. It is our new favorite local indian place. Recently though either we've been ordering too many spicy dishes or the cooks have been spicing things for indian palates. Even the butter chicken last time was spicy. We always order butter chicken for the kids and variety dishes for the adults. We've tried lamb vindaloo (ok it's a hot dish for starters but last time this was HOT) and chicken tandoori and a variety of other things. Never tried the goat. The Dosa (lentil pancake) with vegetables is awesome. We also have gotten a couple of vegetarian dishes like the eggplant and one of the cauliflower dishes. Both are excellent. Naan is good but the garlic naan is superb. We've eaten in and taken out and always get great service and very good food. We ask for dish suggestions and get great guidance as well. Next time I'll ask them to tone down the heat though for our wimpy palates. Not a buffet person so have never tried buffet at lunch. By the way, they now know my husband and when he picks up food, he always hangs out and has a beer. They are always super friendly and greet him like an old friend. You see a majority of indian customers but others as well. Indian friends say it's a good sign that both indian and non-indians dine here.
(4)Michelle B.
Never disappoints! By far the best Indian food I've had. Onion pakoora, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, channa masala, aloo chenna curry, sambar, samosa, gulab jamun, double ka meetha, chicken 65, everything I've had here is amazing! The wait staff is sweet and always happy to accommodate. I finally found my favorite Indian restaurant and as far as I'm concerned, no one else can compete!
(5)Sky G.
You simply can't beat the buffet for the price. All you can eat awesome food for 10 bucks! The butter chicken, rice, naan, "chilly" chicken, it's all good. They even have desserts, but I have yet to acquire a taste for Indian dessert. Anyway, it's a great deal for the money (especially in Reston). If you like Indian food, you'll like this place.
(5)P J.
Service is always super slow. Even during peak times for the order as simple as one masala dosa you have to wait for 15-20 minutes. I avoid it as much as possible. But sometimes I have no choice because this is near to my house. From the taste point of view, it's ok ok.
(2)Dave A.
Excellent sevice, great food. I can't attest to the authenticity (nor do I care), but all of the dishes we had were VERY good. I actually enjoyed the vegetarian dishes we shared (okra with onions, and baby eggplant) more than the Tandori mixed grill (shrimp, chicken, lamb) even though I am an enthusiastic carnivore. Not super cheap, but worth it.

I think these are some guys from the Minerva in Herndon who broke off and started their own thing. Kudos to them for doing so. Here are my favorite things on their Buffet: goat curry, vada sambar, chicken roast, and biryani. The place actually specializes in biryani, so any of their biryan selections are good. For something different try the egg biryani, mmmmm, as good as it gets, and i've not see that on the menu anywhere else. If you're interested in the south indian (veg) fare, there are some amazing dishes using eggplant, melon, all in savory sauces.

The food was excellent. We ordered three dinners family style. We all agreed that #88 on the menu was our favorite, among them. The downside? An extended family with a table of eight children next to us made talking very difficult and spoiled the meal for me. Suggestion: sit large parties on one side of the room, together.

My wife and I really enjoy Indian food. One of our favorites (Supper Club of India) is not too far from here, and has wonderful service. However, we had been searching for something a little closer to our place in Reston, so we could grab take-out Indian on our way home from work. Most of the closer Indian restaurants were basic 2-star fare, and Supper Club feels like more of a sit-down style restaurant and is known best for its tremendous service. We first tried Paradise for take-out about 2 months ago and were blown away at the amazing flavor. The basmati rice is perfectly seasoned and a wonderful foundation for any of their entrees. It's a little-known secret that Indian food is not necessarily all hot and spicy. The food consists of many flavors, spices, and tastes; and if you savor it, a good restaurant like Paradise (or Supper Club) can help you discover the differences. Indeed, if you request it, the food can be made spicy to your liking. Accordingly, we've been delighted by the chicken vindaloo -- definitely very spicy at first -- and the chicken curry; but each pairs well with any of the cooling riatha. Paradise also makes a wonderful cardamom-infused chicken shahi koorma, a very tasty chicken masala (with a not-too-over-powering smokiness), and chicken pasand has a pleasant almond finish. Additionally, we would highly recommend the surprisingly flavorful chicken rogan josh -- beneath the heat of this curry, you can taste the mildness of the yogurt and the coriander, with subtle hints of citrusy lemon. Finally, we have also enjoyed a number of the vegetarian dishes to offset the meat entree, such as the usual creamy palak paneer, the hearty rajma masala (kidney beans with flavors of subtle coriander, cinammon, and cumin with a pleasant cilantro garnish), and our favorite assortments of dahl (we love the ginger-infused dhal makhani). In any event, we highly recommend Paradise Indian Cuisine -- it is now our favorite weekly take-out restaurant in the Reston-Herndon area! If you have an adventurous palate, give it a shot and try their wonderful varieties. For Indian newbies, don't forget the naan and riatha (as both will help to cool the heat in the dishes as well as to bring out the intriguing varieties of unique Indian spices). Yum!

I went to this place, after a co-worker recommended it to me. The biryani was good. I wouldn't say excellent as my taste buds are accustomed to south-indian biryani... but still it was good. Spicier would be great... but I am not complaining. The indo-chinese weren't that impressive but they were good too. In short, pretty good place... had a hard time putting the address on my GPS but i guess its an easy find for the Virginians!!!! GREAT PLACE!

Started with a deuce deuce of Taj Mahal imported straight from India to good old Sausalito and them shipped across the country to Herndon and into my glass. Shocking it was only 5 bucks all things considered. It kind of overwhelms me to think directly about the distribution and logistics of transporting dry goods across oceans and it's shocking to think that with all the potential mishaps along the international route things can still land where they do, Much like myself who landed here four days ago from San Francisco where (and more to the point) their is a small city called Berkeley with a not so small restaurant named Viks Chaat Corner. True paradise can only be found there when speaking of great Indian food though this paradise was not all that disappointing. The wait staff was friendly, albeit a bit disheveled and seemingly unfamiliar with how to wait tables but nevertheless they were sweet and there when we needed them to be (and a bit too much when we didn't need them to be). Paradise Dosa was decent, not much heat but flavorful enough. Samosas were a bit doughy and overcooked. I'd go back if I had to but not if someone pointed me elsewhere.

This is a great new restaurant in Herndon, right in the same strip mall as Milwaukee custard. The cauliflower Manchurian (appetizer) is to die for! This is excellent. Their mattar paneer is also very good. Their veggie and chicken biryanis are also excellent, as are their breads (naan and tandoori roti is what we had). The chili garlic chicken was also good. This is a great new restaurant in the area!

I heard lots of bad things about this restaurant but reviews are very good on yelp, so I decided to give it a try and have been there multiple times now for both lunch buffet and dinner. To start with, I would say the food is very good, its really tasty and quantity is also very good. But good things stop here only. The service is very bad. You have to wait for at least 20-25 minutes to place your order and another 20-25 minutes for it to be served and this was when restaurant was nearly empty. Servers don't bother to ask you for anything. On one occasion all the servers were busy with only one table and rest of us were just waiting for them. I believe that guy must be very good at tips :) One more thing I noticed is that in sweets they always serve "Double ka meetha", not that its not good, but you cannot eat it every time. Now, if you are going for Buffet in lunch, its very good place to go. tasty food with reasonable prices. But for fine dining, don't expect much from service perspective. You''l like the food if you can ignore bad service. I'll certainly visit them again but only due to good food and prefer buffet and takeout, if they can improve their service I can even give them 5 rating.

I was in Herndon on business and came in for dinner. Had the goat curry thali. I'm used to Indian cuisine from my having lived in London for many years and from working in Silicon Valley, where there's a strong and numerous Indian community. These guys are good. The side dishes in the thali were well-made and richly spiced, the goat curry was delightful, and the staff were very kind.

Tried take out here and found a long silver hair in my rice, which I had to pull out of my mouth as I was eating the rice at home! Called Paradise Indian to let them know, and the response, was "So?". Was offered some unspecified credit next time eating there. Tried talking to the owner, who said (1) it was probably a hair from the ginger they used in rice, which I told him it definitely was not and (2) rice was complimentary so I should not get any type of refund. He later offered a $2 refund, if I could call them at 10pm with my credit card number, to let them void my original credit card charge and recharge my credit card. No thanks! The food was okay, they gave pretty big portions for take out. It is not the best Indian food I have had, nor the worst (if you don't take into account the hair). Let's just say I didn't shed any tears over the food I threw away after finding the hair.

4.5 stars I am a very critical Desi guy. But I had very little to crib about in this restaurant. The food was one of the best I have had in the area. I especially liked the fact that their gravies for different dishes (Shahi paneer, Nav Ratan korma and Malai Kofta) were significantly different and all of them were very rich and tasty. The only reason I deduct half a point is due to the Kofta. It was a little raw, but the gravy was superb. The naan is a little smaller but very tasty. Tandoori roti tastes good too. We did not go with the rice 'piflaf' as that is easily made at home and can be had with the left overs later. I will go back again for more, I am really very impressed by the food. They also have a coupon on the site for $10 off for orders over $25.

You need to go there for the lunch buffet . . . it's great; it's where the Indians eat. I wouldn't even think about going there to order off the menu as the buffet is so affordable, has such great variety and the food is fantastic (and spicy for this Chile Head). We were there again for lunch this past Monday and, at the time, we were the only Caucasians in the place. You know there is some reason why all the natives go there !!!! :-) Yes, it's the great food! I have read a number of the other reviews on this restaurant. Agree the vegetarian food is better than the meat dishes; Agree Dosas and chutneys are fantastic. I love the okra (Bhini). Not sure how they get it that way; without frying, they actually lose the slime. Don't be so hard on them for not explaining how to eat at a buffet. They give you a table and water, you go and find the plates and get your food. If you have questions . . . ask. If the first person you ask does not speak English very well, ask someone else. After all, it's a self-serve buffet. And my experience has been that a lot of the other patrons are very helpful, too. I'm just sayin'. Additional note: If you like the food here but think it's somewhat too spicy, try Jewel of India in Silver Spring, MD. Their buffet is fantastic, too. Atmosphere is a little nicer; service a little better. Food is really good . . . but less spicy. Again, go for the lunch buffet. (Lots less Indian people eating at Jewel than Paradise!!) Best bites to you! Charlie

Great food and reasonable prices for Indian food. Went on a Saturday at 6:30 and the place was empty. I had the Chicken 265 with fried curry leaves. Very tasty- lots of chicken pieces that were tender. Wife had palak gosht- spinach and chicken in curry. Very good too. Ambiance kind of plain. We liked it a lot and will return.

I'm not quite sure what happened. This restaurant was recommended by local Indians. The Yelp reviews are phenomenal. Where did my order go so wrong? I ordered the mulligatawny and it tasted like nothing more than spicy chicken broth. If that's what it's supposed to taste like, well then, okay, however, since I had never had mulligatawny and asked the owner what it was, he replied "lentil soup". This was NO lentil soup; it was over salty and over peppery. I took one spoonful and stopped. I ordered the "cucumber salad" and got a container full of thickly sliced cucumbers. Seriously? $2.50 for 1/4 of a cucumber with nothing to give it flavor? Ridiculous. I ordered butter chicken which I have had enough times to know when it's good and when it's not and this was, in a word, "NOT". It was loaded with sugar and frankly, tasted like chicken smothered in buttery barbecue sauce....I'm not kidding. The raita was runny and overpowered with the flavor of cumin and last but not least, the garlic naan tasted like it was store bought. Seriously, I have made the same Indian dinner at home (complete with homemade naan) that BLOWS this place away.....and I'm a white girl. The capper was the atmosphere; sterile white walls, bright lights, very cold, and obnoxious videos of the equivalent of " the Indian Britney Spears". The only thing pleasant about this place was the guy who took my carryout order who was very nice as was the owner.

Nice selection, decent food. Definitely not WOW. I feel the buffet at Minerva and other places is better in some respects. Dessert here is sad, no variety. No fresh cut fruit, or proper salad. Tiffin items such as poori, idli, dosa, and all chutneys are very good. Biryani was dry, and chicken was overcooked. Chili chicken was above average, and the mutton curry was okay. Will I go back? Probably, but not soon. It was a decent deal for the number of items in the buffet though.

consistently delicious. get the vegetable biryani and the gobi manchurian.

Excellent Indian food. I am not Indian, but the place was packed with ethnic Indians. I think that was a good sign. The buffet was excellent and so was the service. It was packed on a Saturday. Buffet had a great variety.

Price for Indian Chinese food is reasonable and ok tasting. North Indian food is horrible and lacks any authenticity.

We often dine at Bombay Bistro and were a Minerva fan for a while but was looking for someplace different and after reading reviews to decide to give P.I.C. a try. We thoroughly enjoyed the food (a family of 4, including 2 teens) and ordered spinach pakora - which was just right amount of batter - where you could still see large parts of the spinach exposed and was not overcooked as we have found elsewhere. Our meals were ordered Thali and included chkn vindaloo, chkn tikka masala, chkn jalfrezi and mutton rogan josh. Quantity was good -- perhaps overwhelming -- but quality wasn't impacted. All ingredients were fresh -- even for the accompanying Thali items! Also confirmed in a pleasant discussion with our waiter a previous reviewer's comment about the cooks splitting off from Mineverva -- they are the same! So if you enjoyed Minverva when they were at their peak you'll enjoy PIC. And another delightful perk -- since it was our first time there they gave us a $10 and $15 gift certificate for our next visit! Great service, good food... oh and the Bollywood videos are not overly loud or on a big screen like they used to be at Minerva. Go and enjoy the food!
