GreatPrice. Fresh food. I read the reviews about this place and some are being snobby about deli food.. haha it's a deli! If you want better lunch go to Mortons!

Metro Cafe is located in Herndon, VA on a corner strip mall across from a doughnut shop. I have been coming here off and on through the years and I have always been satisfied. Metro Cafe is basically a breakfast and lunch diner...no wait staff or table service. They take your order up at the counter. Your order is then prepared and served up on a tray if eating in. The cafe is clean, well organized with good options. I like their breakfast options...always prepared fresh and served hot. Drink options are plentiful from coffee to sodas and bottled drinks. I am giving my review 4 stars for the number of times I have visited...the quality has always remained consistent and the service polite and orderly.

The food is well priced and the portions are great. I like this place and the owner is a nice guy. When ever I need to stop for breakfast, this is my new spot.

My husband had a spicy double cheese burger and he was talking about it rest of day. You must try if you like SPICY food.

I was surprised to see Bibimbop on the window!. It is not a full-blown korean fare but it was certainly satisfying. Tried their sandwiches couple times and they were good. I wouldn't give a 5-star but it get a 5 for having a Korean dish in Herndon. I don't know where Sam R had been eating at his lunch but I didn't find anything wrong with this place. Maybe he fell in the B group, not A. OH. and breakfast burrito is good too!

I was in Herndon and a little rushed before an appointment I had nearby. I opened my trusty Yelp App to see what was around me that was other than a Burger King, McDonalds or a Taco Bell. Metro Cafe had "okay" reviews, so I went for it. It's a typical deli like place in that the standard sandwiches are available...steak and cheese, ham and cheese, reubens, chips, fries, sodas, etc. They offered a few options that were a little out of the ordinary like teriyaki and bulkogi. Both offered up chicken or beef. I chose the beef bulkogi. It was good but it didn't stand out or was not as good as I am accustomed to. But, I was okay with it as my total lunch was 9$, and the service was fantastic and quick. They serve this dish on a bed of rice, much more than I would eat, but still a healthy portion of meat. And I never really understand why these places ask "for her or to go?" It seems like they always serve the food in the same container, to go or not, and either give you a bag or tray...all disposable of course. Not a complaint, I'm just saying. Considering it was convenient, fast and reasonable, I'm giving this place 4 stars. I will be back because it's not too far from my office and I want to test out some of the other sandwiches they offer.

Great, great local, mom-and-pop place. Breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. I always get the Western (but without ham) and add avocado on wheat toast. The New Yorker is an AWESOME pastrami sandwich, and The Popular is a delicious turkey get-up on pita bread. I can't support them enough. Everyone should go on their lunch break. The people work very hard and are so kind to see every time I come in.

It's a small deli located far from any high-density areas (as far as I can tell), so maybe my expectations were low. But I enjoyed our visit here. We dropped in for brunch after taking care of business at Autoscandia across the street, so it wasn't like we purposefully made our way here. Which may also be a reason for my favorable impression. Or maybe it was because the owner was Korean. Try as I might to be objective, that always hits a soft spot for me. But I think the food was actually good, especially considering that the deli probably doesn't have to try too hard to keep its clientele, of which I assume to be people working nearby who don't really have a whole lot of choices anyway. We had the steak, egg & cheese and the new breakfast burger. The SE&C was, you guessed it, ground beef with egg and cheese on buttered toast. Nothing super special, but the toast was nicely buttered. The breakfast burger was apparently a new menu item, with a beef patty, cheese, egg, and home-made hot sauce (which was pretty good!). When MM noted that the breakfast burger, which consisted of a pre-made beef patty, shouldn't be more expensive than the steak & egg, the owner either didn't understand, or feigned incomprehension. Good thing I speak Korean!! The owner explained that it was more expensive for them to buy the pre-made patties than the ground beef, but thanked MM for his suggestions. He said that not many people give him feedback on his restaurant, and he felt it was necessary to hear critiques from his clients. Points for attitude! I wasn't exactly dreaming of the food that night, but it left us satisfied and fueled as we went on with our day.

Unlike Sam (and thankfully so) I did not have a bad experience at the Metro Cafe. It was late in the afternoon and I ran out of the house and had left my lunch behind (frozen Lean Cuisine entree). It was after the lunch rush, 2:00 pm or so - so the place was almost empty. I ordered The New Yorker - their version of a hot, Reuben. It was yummy, hot, cheese all melted, maybe a tad to heavy on the thousand island or whatever sauce they used. I washed it down with an ice cold bottle of H2O. When you go in - make sure you scan the wall behind the cash register - the guy who runs the place has what would nowadays be considered an antique Stereo Receiver - it looks to be a 1970s era analog receiver - complete with all of the old brushed nickel buttons and the old style meters. I commented on it - he told me - it's never stopped working - so I can't bring myself to replace it. I told him the old stereo equipment was built like a tank - don't ever give it up as long as it is still working or you can get it repaired within reason. He smiled and agreed. They also serve breakfast foods here - I would check this place out again - it's very close to my office.

Ever wonder where the worst bagel in the world can be purchased? Now you know. Its a the Metro Cafe. With a super long line at Dunkin Donuts, i quickly ducked into this place, with no line. Now I can see why. At least the egg was cooked to order, but the bagel is a travesty and the word "bagel" should NEVER be used to describe what they gave me.

Great sandwiches. Two of my favorites are "The Big Chicken" and the "New Yorker". Service is good too... Metro Cafe has quickly become my new "go to" weekday lunch place.

After reading that Metro Cafe had Korean food, I had to make a visit~ I dropped in after the lunch rush and the restaurant was pretty quiet. As expected, the owners were Korean. I placed an order for the Bulgogi (marinated bbq beef, normally with onions, green onions and carrots) for take out with a side of Kimchi. As I waited, I chit-chatted with the owner about how there weren't any Korean restaurants in the area and suggested he offer some more Korean dishes such as Bibimbap. He said he would definitely take it into consideration since it was fairly easy to prepare. SCORE!!! =D I unashamedly brought my lunch back to the office, brought out my Sriracha sauce and got to work. It was so hot (temp-wise) that I burned my tongue... Ugh~ Regardless, I kept scooping, dipping and chewing! Flavor was a bit on the bland side, but I assume they did this to accommodate to the American palate. The kimchi wasn't anything to rave about, but was flavorful enough. It was served atop a mound of white rice, and I was only able to finish about 1/3 of the rice. All in all, it was enough to satiate my cravings for Korean food without having to drive to Chantilly~ I will have to visit again. Hopefully by then, they will be serving Bibimbap! I'll keep my fingers crossed~

This place is family owned and the owner has been serving breakfast and lunch to me and my coworkers for many years. Will make you any sandwich you can think of quickly and without fuss. Good quality food at very reasonable prices. It is also a great place to have informal business meetings. We have had numerous meetings here that have run on for hours without complaint from the owner. This is one of the original businesses in the Sunset Business Park and a great asset to the neighborhood. Nice assortment of magazines and newspapers to read while you relax and take refuge from a stressful day.

Good cheap breakfast. if you're a snob, go somewhere else. I find this a great quick affordable place to grab breakfast from when i work from home. Good Breakfast burrito.

Well...the food is not bad for the price--that's as generous a statement as I can allow. If you're looking for a warm, cozy breakfast experience, then this is not the place for you. It seems to be more of a place of eating convenience for nearby office workers than a true eating destination. The ambiance, if you can call it that, is dull and drafty. The coffee is generic, and the food isn't fresh, but you also have to consider that you are in something like a strip mall..in the suburbs...in northern virginia... Well, as nice as the people working there seemed, I can only afford to give this one star, and I shan't be revisiting...sorry.

Quite satisfied with my first experience here. My car was in the shop at AutoScandia longer than expected so needed lunch. After a quick review of cheap options within walking distance, I decided on this place. I was also curious about it's Korean food. The ambiance in the cafe is so-so, but it's what I would expect about for an independent place. It was kinda darkly lit for eating and conversing. The tables also weren't as clean as I would have liked. When ordering my food, the guy working the cash register was very polite. I think he's the owner of the place. He smiled big when I said I'd try kimchi again. For my lunch, I got the Bulkokie. It's a simple Korean dish. I really liked it! I rocked some chopsticks and kept dipping them in sriracha sauce. The food was freshly made and piping hot. The beef had a good flavor. If I have a Korean food craving, I may consider this place again.

Nice owners, decent sandwiches. It's tucked into a strip mall and the signage isn't very good. They offer specials and have enough seating to go around. I tried the BLT so it's almost impossible to screw that up. And they didn't. No frills. It's a good place to grab something quick and hit the road!

I'm writing this review to vent, as I know 99.9% of the world's population will never set foot in this cafe. It's buried in a nondescript office building with almost zero signage - and the only reason you would eat here is if you A) work within 100 meters of this place or B) are drunk at work. Just for the record, I fall in the A group. I can't speak for the other customers though. My order was the simplest deli order on the planet - turkey sandwich on wheat, lettuce, tomato and mustard. That's IT. Somehow my order got lost in translation. This was right when I decided I should be packing my own lunches from now on. Thank you Metro Cafe for reminding me to do so.

Quick place to grab breakfast. I've never had anything else from there. Its somewhere where I can call in my order...walk in...pay for my meal and walk out. Not a place to sit back and relax, its a "workers atmosphere". Prices are pretty reasonable, at least for breakfast. Majority of the people I see come thru are take out customers.

great breakfasts at a great price.

The reason I like this place because it offers bul go gi (korean food). Though its not the most delicious bul go gi in the world, but it gets the job done. After eating sandwiches and pho all the time, its nice to eat something korean once in a while. I've never gotten anything other than bul go gi from this place, so this review will probably be pretty useless to most people. Staff/Owners are quite friendly (though they are korean and I am korean) so my opinion might be slightly biased. But the best thing is they will give you kimchi (korean food) if requested. If your working in this area - and would like some good ole bul go gi, I would highly recommend.
