Pizza NY Margherita Menu

Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for High Cholesterol

Keep your pizza intake to one slice to avoid high cholesterol intake while you dine at Pizza Hut. Skip Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice as it contains a high amount of fat and the sodium levels are also very high. Avoid the desserts section completely to limit the fat and sugar intake. We were visiting in the area Saturday night and were looking for someplace to grab a bite to eat after a movie. Pizza sounded good and Pizza NY Margherita was still open. We arrived at 10:30PM (closing time is 11:00) There was only one other family in the restaurant, yet when we entered we received a friendly greeting and a review of what the restaurant had to offer. The manager ( I assume) said we could order anything from the menu - no problem. We felt very welcome and ordered a standard cheese pizza and some drinks. The pizza was delicious with a generous amount of cheese. We NEVER felt rushed or unwelcome. Cudos to the staff/management for creating a welcoming atmosphere as well as a delicious product. I only wish we lived close by so we could visit often!

Decided to try out a local restaurant. Had never been to Pizza NY Margherita before and decide to give it a shot. For those who are new keep in mind this is NOT a sit down and order establishment. You order first and then sit down and wait for your food. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was good. We ordered a calzone, slice of pepperoni and a spaghetti plate. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The slice of pepperoni was alright. Definitely had much better pizza elsewhere. The calzone has WAY too much ricotta cheese and was slightly cold in the middle. The spaghetti was terrible! It not only tasted terrible but it smelled very weird....like the smell of wet towels that have been left in the washer too long. I'm almost convinced we ate sour spaghetti. Will most likely not re-visit.

If you never been here before there are two ordering stations the one to your immediate right I think is for take out. You order and they give you this plastic card your supposed to put on your table ? Any ways all these reviews can't be wrong I sit watching the Televisions annoyed by the noisy chairs. I ordered two slices of pizza how long does it take to walk it over twenty feet, finally my pizza comes. After three bites I am sold, this is very good pizza I see others have salads ordered, they nust be good too.

This steak and cheese is the BEST in this area!! The hazelnut gelato is great!

  • Bill C.

Good food, large menu, good sauce (very important). Even has open wireless!! They have the typical array of Italian pizza parlor features, pizza (NY, sicillian, brick oven), calzone, various pastas, salads, soups, and have a decent selecton of wine and beer. Open spacious attractive atmosphere, televisions, open kitchen to watch (clean!), friendly service (+!). A nice place for a casual date or a family. Can accomodate a large group (table for 20). And for us iPhone users, open wireless!! Will be making this a regular place for the Cerniuks... Especially when the gelato arrived on the menu!

We really like this place. The ordering process is a bit confusing, but the pizza and salad are really good and the staff is so friendly. We go here often and will continue to do so.

Our family has been there quite a few times. We find that the food is good, good service, but also find it very pricey.

My favorite pizza place by far! I go there often and the pizza is always great! Their salads are very good too! The owners are usually there and are very friendly! It is also my granddaughters favorite pick!!! Price is good and employees are friendly!

This is my all time favorite place for pizza, calzones, canolis, you name it! The owners are incredibly friendly, and the authenticity is duly noted! Great place to go on a date, as they have a little outdoor seating area. Great food, definitely recommend it!!!

It was okay. Nothing great. No service you have to go to a counter to order. I ended up trying the veal piccata....it was okay... I guess their pizza is good from what I hear...but I am not much of a pizza person.

My office carries out from here at least once every other week. Really good food and hard working employees. A must try if you're in or going through Gainesville. Try the Chicken Parmesan sub and add buffalo sauce to it!!!! It is our office's favorite.

As Randy Jackson would say on "Idol," it was just "alright" for me. While arguably the closest thing to "New York pizza" in the area, it's not 'actually' close to "New York Pizza." (As I've said before, coming from New York City proper, my pizza scale might be a bit unfair.) Still, don't get me wrong, they'll toss an "o.k." pie, just not one you're likely to remember. Well, perhaps the pizza isn't quite 'that' good. It tends to be served a bit flaccid (what's a slice you can't fold?), and, despite uninspired taste writ large, meat-topped varieties arrive saltier than a mall pretzel. Like its staff, the rest of this establishment's dishes are lackluster and don't appear genuinely interested to please.

Three words: Chicken Caesar Salad. Order it, trust me. This is where we want to eat when we're in Gainesville. It can be a little crowded at times, but I've never seen it so slammed beyond waiting 2nd in line to order. The menu will be a little confusing at first, but just they seem to always have a wipe-off board listing multiple daily combo specials, so be sure to look for it. Friendly staff, clean facility. Prices will look a little steep, but be advised these people deliver a massive amount of quality food per order. I've visited maybe 10 times, almost always during late lunch/early dinner hours, and have no complaints to report. I love this place.

I got takeout with my wife and young sons for dinner. We tried two pizzas, one brick oven and one New York style, both were lacking in flavor. We were especially unimpressed with the brick oven pizza as we've had better at many other establishments. Sadly, Papa Johns is more flavorful and a better value. We will not return.

I love this place. Joe and Marco brothers have great personality. We cater out to some doctor offices and great price. I love there Margharite, veggie and Eggplant pizzas. They have excellent pastas also. My office staff loves it.

My wife and I were so excited that our favorite pizza place in Fairfax (Tony's NY Pizza in Fair Lakes) was opening a second location, just down the road from our new house in Gainesville. As far as we're concerned Margherita has the best NY-style pizza in the area and it's our go-to pizza joint. We normally just get a large cheese with an order of fries and onion rings, sometimes with a large caeser salad. Sometimes I'll get a chicken piccata which is always good.

Definately a great pizza! Not quite NY, but very close. Great selection of toppings. Nice side salads and antipasto is very good. Been here several times and definately on the list to go back.

Gluten Free Pizza here! Birch Beer- Yeah!! The dude in charge rocked! Not only was he super sweet with all our requests, he was just down to earth cool. We were here right before it got busy today, a Friday night. My husbands said his pizza was great, I loved my cheese free, gluten free veggie pizza and my tween son had a hamburger sub he devoured. The sauce on the pizza was yummy, I was surprised! What else is there to say? We'll definitely go back!

Pretty busy on a Friday night and food was out fairly quickly. Decent and delicious food and kudos for birch beer!!! Not much else to boast about.

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it! And the staff is ultra friendly - great wine selection too! DaVinci Chianti is one of my favorites and they offer it by the glass. I love the italiano stromboli and their sauce is so good, you could drink it out of a cup! My understanding is that they are related to Tony of Tony's NY Pizza.

  • Nick C.

Great NY style pizza. Best antipasto salad I have had in the area very authentic. But you have to go there for the coconut gelato it is the best I have ever had.

    (5)
  • Christina A.

Their pizza is the closest to authentic NY pizza in the area. Be cautious about buying slices at odd hours; they will keep a pizza out until it's gone, so there may not be anything fresh, and once reheated it tastes kind cardboardy. Entrees are generous. Gelato is delicious. My husband and I have been there on several evening occasions when the owners' families come in for dinner and they let the kids run around. Not very pleasant for this couple trying to enjoy an evening out. But we finally figured out that they always sit in back, so once we moved up front to the tall tables near the TVs, and it was a lot more pleasant.

Family is from NJ and is particular about our cheesesteaks and pizza. Pizza Margherita is as GREAT as it comes to NY style pizza in this Northern VA area. We like it better than Tony's and Luciano's. Sauce is flavorful without being overly salty. Crust is perfectly well-done (unlike some soggy messes you can get). Salads (especially their antipastos), are great! Surprisingly, we even enjoy their cheesesteaks... they are FANTASTIC! We've had their eggplant parmesan... delish! Their linguini alla vongole (clams) is awesome! You can't go wrong with Pizza Margherita... staff is incredibly friendly and the owners are great!

This place is really good! I don't particularly like the way you order and how the line forms because it's kind of confusing to know where to go and who's next. But the food is delicious! They bring the food to the table which is a nice touch. It's hard to find good new York style pizza and to my family this place does not disappoint. Their garlic bread with cheese is yummy!

As a transplanted New Yorker I'm always on the search for "real" pizza in Virginia, and in most cases my search meets with failure. Not so with Pizza NY Margherita. We've been here several times and the pizza here is as good as anything I've had in NYC or Long Island. The crust is crisp and thin, the sauce is wonderful, the toppings are plentiful. I usually stick with either cheese or their margherita pizza, a house specialty with fresh mozzarella, basil, and Parmesan Reggiano. The pizza has a nice smokey flavor as well as a result of being baked in a wood-fired oven. We've ordered subs, dinners including pasta and chicken parmigiana and have never been disappointed. The service is prompt and friendly, the place is much more upscale then your average pizzeria, and the gelato is a nice surprise. This is a gem in western prince william county, and a big step up from any other place in the area. About the only Virginia-area pizza place that beats it is Buon Appetito in Chantilly and Sterling. Thank you for bringing this place to Gainesville. Now if only you would add a delivery service!

Checked out this place for dinner tonight with a few friends. We went by Chili's but didn't want to wait 30 minutes for a table, so we decided to try this place out instead. There was a decent sized line of people waiting to order. The menus are on flat panel screens, which I didn't really like. Each screen would go through different slides, so the full menu wasn't always displayed. We got a large cheese pizza, four drinks, and a Greek salad which came out to about $20 or so. Not bad. The salad came out quickly and a little while later our pizza came out. The pizza was very similar to Tony's Pizza in Manassas/Bristow, but not quite as good. Still, good enough that I would go back. We didn't get dessert, but the desserts I saw go by our table looked pretty good, so I will definitely have to try them out next time! Overall, a decent option for pizza in the Gainesville area.

I recently have made this my new favorite pizza place. I really like the deep dish pizza. The food is always fresh and quick. The service is always friendly. The prices are very reasonable.

Um.....YUM! This place was pretty great. It was clean, the atmosphere was lovely, and the workers were polite and helpful. My husband and I both ordered a slice of pizza, a calzone to share, and calamari for under 20 dollars! That alone made me happy! The slice was pretty good. I was slightly disappointed in the crust, but the calzone, calamari, and later, the gelato completely made up for it. I left there full, happy, and eagerly anticipating my next visit.

The menu here is expansive, but I've only dined on their lunch time offerings. The best thing I've had here is their chicken steak sub. I usually add mushrooms and nix the lettuce. The mushrooms are real, as in, not can grown. For those of us who love the fungi, this is very important. The sub itself is large, the meat well seasoned, and it requires you to eat over a plate because of its drippy insides-all makings for a great sub. The cheese they use on it is addictive. My guess is it's some sort of melted white American or other chemically processed goodness, but it is damn fine in combination with the chicken. I usually get the combo on the sub, which includes a side and drink. I choose either the onion rings or fried zucchini. The rings are good, mostly depending on whether they bread them with beer batter or that crumbly stuff (I've been served up both here) and the zucchini is okay, but I've certainly had better. I've also had their pizza and was largely unimpressed. I've been to Tony's in Fairfax many times and craze the pizza there, but at this location, for whatever reason, it is sub-par. The toppings are definitely more plentiful than they are at Tony's (yeah!), but that ends up leaving the pizza much greasier and heavy (boo!). The plate of my slice of pepperoni was left shinier than a 15 yr old's face in the middle of July. I was left slightly nauseated after. It may have been a fluke, but I think I'll stick to my delicious and cheesy sub. Without a doubt, the best thing about this place is the money it takes to eat here. The lunch combo of sub, side, and drink is ~$7. So even with tip (always tip! don't shit where you eat), someone can feast here for $10 or less. They also have gelato here, which looks good but I always forget about it when I'm there. They also offer coffee and Italian desserts and free wi-fi. I haven't used any of these things (I'm a whore for Panera and their free internet), but it's great to know they're available.

Whether carrying out food or dining in, I have always had a positive experience here. The staff is super friendly and always helpful. Not grouchy put upon like the service frequently is at their nearest competition, Tony's in Bristow. We mostly have carryout and on a recent visit I mistakenly ordered the wrong sized dessert, they gladly replaced them with what I wanted (which cost slightly more) without charging me extra. Tony's is closer to my house, but PM's service and food is soo much better, it's worth the extra drive. Really like there house salad, which is much more substantial than most and the house dressing is superb. Would give 5 stars if they delivered.

I went here last night after reading the reviews here and I really enjoyed the pizza. I got a 16" pepperoni deep dish. It was huge for the price, $14.50 for a pizza that I should have invite some friends over to enjoy with us. The ingredient are high quality. The crust is not my favorite but overall it was great and I will definitely be coming back.

When we moved to Bristow, we were sad we wouldn't be as close to Tonys in fairlakes..but then there was Margheritas! Love the food, love the owners, and love that this location is bigger :)

The New York style Pizza Margherita is the best pizza in this area - period. The basil is fresh, the mozarella is delicious and the sauce definitely flavorful. However, if you are expecting the fake cheese ocean with sweet sauce that you get at the Papa Johns/Pizza Hut and Dominoes chains, this is very different and will not be for you. The family that runs this place is always here. The pasta dishes are really good too. The only downside to this place is that it often gets crowded with screaming children whose parents let them roam (and thrash) the restaurant - by climbing on chairs, by playing around the soda machines and screaming while the parents ignore them. If you walk in and see one of these groups, I suggest walking out.

Love this place!! The service is great--the people are very friendly. And the food--my favorite pizza place. I like the Pizza Roma. The atmosphere couldn't be better--upscale for takeout or even better--eat it there.

Chalk up Pizza Margherita in the column of places where you stand in line to order, think your paying too much, and then enjoy the rest of the meal when you realize the product you get in the end. On first glance it all looks great and I was really tempted by some of the pasta dishes. But I gave into my original plan when deciding to come, the pizza. I paired it with a side salad, which wasn't at all skimpy. For a Thursday it was pretty busy, and all around us the staff was shuttling meals to customers or clearing tables. Large mushroom; they don't skimp on the toppings either. The pizza was great; the slices were large like you'd expect, each bite was a thin combination of crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings. The crust itself was on the crackery side, which I'd say isn't a characteristic of prototypical NY pizza. I'm fairly sure the NY pizza is floppy and foldable. Will be back for sure, and maybe I'll be able to convince myself to go with pasta over pizza.

My second visit prompted me to write this, glad I didn't review after my first visit, I probably wouldn't have been fair considering they had just opened. On my first visit I had just a plan cheese slice. I think that's the only way to truly judge a pizzeria, especially one that is confident enough to put NY in it's name. I didn't like the sauce or the crust and was surprised by the difference in taste considering the lineage. My partner had not tried their food yet so I decided I give them another shot ( I still was not going to order a plan slice). What I did get was a cup of lentil soup and a slice w/ smoked mozzarella, ricotta, sausage and broccoli rabe. The food is brought to your table ( although not by a server ). The lentil soup came out within 5 minutes. It was steaming hot which isn't always a given. The lentils were cooked perfectly, not too mushy with just enough bite to them. There were bits of tomato and onion and it had just the right amount of garlic. Then next came my slice, within 5 minutes of getting the soup. everything was timed just right, not sure if by accident considering you order everything at the same time? The slice had a perfect amount of smoked mozzarella which is great b/c the smoke can be over powering. The sausage was spicy and the crust spot on. What I didn't like was the broccoli rabe. Broccoli rabe is bitter and usually needs some stronger flavors to compensate the bitterness. You would think that the smoked mozz and sausage would've done that but it didn't. I just picked it off and was good to go. I'd definatley go back. Good lunch for under $6.

There is some good pizza to be had here, not quite as good as Ciro's, but for Gainesville, it is a welcome sight. I also tried the house salad, which was very good. The service is order at the counter and wait at a table for your food, it is pretty efficient and I'll be back

Margherita's is a go-to location for a quick bite or a full dinner. Our family likes to meet here for dinner and we are never disappointed. We are pizza lovers and their pizza is excellent whether you are buying a whole pie or just having them heat up a slice for you. There are lots of options. My favorite is the white pizza with pineapple and my wife loves the signature Pizza Margherita. Service is never slow and the servers are always pleasant. Atmosphere is pleasant. Nothing fancy just booths and tables. They also have a nice outside dining area which while it only oversees a parking lot, is a pleasant place for relaxing. Try it and enjoy!

This is one of our staple take out places (although they have a very nice dining room too). Their pizza is wonderful; try it with prosciutto, you won't be disappointed. All their sandwiches are great too. I think what sets them apart is their high standards for their food. We went in to pick up our pizza one night and the guy working said he wasn't happy with the way the crust turned out so he remade it (and let us keep both pizzas).

We've frequented this place since it opened. The food is outstanding, and the staff is friendly. The wine can be warm since they keep it by the kitchen, so we call ahead and have them throw it in the fridge for us, and it's always perfect when we get there. Sometimes, we even ride our bikes up there and sit outside. Best margherita pizza ever, and they deliver, too!

Great pizza! Been going there for the last year or so and is always good quality food. Service can improve, but overall a great place.

Was excited to give the place a try since the owner is the same as the Famous Tonny's NY Pizza in Fair Lakes. Before I wrote this review I had been here a few times at different times of the day and each time the wait was very reasonable. If your familiar with Tony's in Fair Lakes this place has much more space. There are a few TV's and the usually have a Game on of some sort. Right now they are showing the Copa America's Soccer match (Italy vs. Croatia) so that is nice. For me there is only two types of Pizza either thin crust slices or on special occassions a Sicilian Slice with Sausage and Pepperoni. The few times I have been here I have had both types and they were great just as I expected from this Mom & Pop Pizzaria. They offer a number of other items I will eventually try such as Steak & Cheese and Entrees as well as Desserts. I have yet to try the delivery but maybe eventually. The staff are friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable. Who could argue with that combo? Anyway... Good Pizza and they also sell Beer and Wine. This could be your Families Friday night Pizzaria.

Food is good. They need better employees. And more of them. It was a struggle to find a clean table. Busser couldn't keep up with the clean up. Seems like they could have customers bring up their own dishes and it would really help. Cashier was rude. When I asked for a particular slice that was out she had an attitude. I'm sorry for not knowing the name of the pizza when they aren't all labeled. And then my pizza came out and it was not what I had asked for. I will eventually return but I don't have high hopes.

I was not as pleasantly surprised as I was hoping to be. I ordered online for take out, with little idea of what I was going to get since the photos of what foods they choose to put up are small stock photos. There's also no description of many items so you're not really sure what they put on or in it. $9.95 for lasagna and $6 for salad later...I'm underwhelmed. The house dressing is great and the large salad was a decent size. But it's nothing I can't get somewhere else. It's not distinctive at all. We were really displeased when we opened the lasagna and it was a tiny piece I could fit perfectly in my hand. To put this in perspective, I'm 5'1 and 135lbs. I'm not a large person whatsoever. You should not still be hungry after eating a meal, but that's exactly what happened so we ate leftovers from another place. The food wasn't bad, but I can spend $10 on most of the items to make my own full lasagna and it's ludicrous to pay for that again. I'll stick to my faithful Italian tried and true favorites unfortunately.

Typical NY yummy and greasy pizza. The pizza on display looked a bit old, but the fresh pizza was enjoyable. Customer service was excellent.

Not so great. Had a lasagna and spaghetti with meat sauce. The lasagna was cold (clearly reheated) and tasted like it was at least a week old. The spaghetti was better in the school cafeteria all those years ago. Both cost $9.75. More expensive than Olive Garden and severely lacking. Have had pizza here before and it was just OK. Feel like the guy tries to cook, but he is just not that good. Bottom line: quality does not match price- not recommended.

I love the pizza here. It's really good and very close to what you can get in NY. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I've tried other items on the menu & didn't care for it. But in all fairness I'm Italian , so I have very high expectations. Go for the pizza you won't be disappointed .

Unsafe food handling gave my 9 year old food poisoning! This was our go-to place for white pizza. Unfortunately, I doubt we will ever return. Last Friday my family ate dinner there. I had a white pizza, which was good. My wife had a pasta special that was mediocre at best, certainly not worth the price charged in either quality or taste. My 2 year old had a slice of plain pizza and my 9 year old had a kids spaghetti and meatballs. Within half an hour of eating, my 9 year old started complaining of a tummy ache. About 3 hours later she vomited out her dinner and was sick with food poisoning symptoms through Wednesday. We took her to the doctor on Monday where they agreed that the chain of events, what she had for dinner, and her symptoms were clear indicators of food poisoning. I called Monday evening to let the manager know. I didn't expect to get anything out of the call; I just wanted to let them know she got sick from their meatballs. The response was rather rude, but having just read their restaurant inspection health code violations from February 4th, I'm no longer surprised by the reaction I received. According to the Bristow Beat, one of the critical violations noted was that "the meatballs in sauce and meat sauce was not reheated to 165F within 2 hours to eliminate pathogenic bacteria." Apparently this was fixed onsite during the inspection, however, it looks like they have continued with this practice. It is unfortunate; no little kid should have to experience food poisoning, especially when it could have been prevented with proper food safety.

Not overly impressed. I have serious concerns about the sanitation in this place. The Iced tea brewing station was uncovered and open to everything, there was grease and grime all over the station with the silverware, over half the tables had dirty dishes piled up with no one moving to bus or clean the tables, the food we got was burned on the bottom and soggy which makes me wonder about the food handling and preparation standards thy are using and everything just looked dirty. I am praying not to get sick at this point. Did I mention the worker who cut in line while people were waiting to fill their drinks without batting an eye?

Best pizza place in Gainesville. The owners are Italian, I believe from Napoli. Soccer is on all the time, in fact the owner told me that if you come in and want to watch a certain game, he has NBC Live, Fox Sports 1, and BeIn Sports network. The pizza is very much New York style with appropriate amount of grease, cheese and toppings. The other menu items you won't find at a local pizza shop. They also offer Italian wine, Peroni, and other draft and bottled beers, soft drinks to include Birch Beer! They also do well to hire local high school students to work in their establishment and they provide discounts to County teachers, police, and fire.

Oh, how disappointed we were after Saturday evening's visit to this old favorite. We ordered a Greek salad and a thin crust 1/2 pep, 1/2 sausage pie to share. The salad at $4.95 was large, with wonderful toppings, but the base, the iceberg lettuce, was not very fresh. Next came the pie: the crust was soaked with grease, the sauce had absolutely NO flavor, and overall the only taste you did notice was salt. I had only 1 slice (which is atrocious, considering how much I love a NY style pizza!) We're hesitant to ever come back again, as this is the 2nd visit in a row (out of many) where the food experience has gone downhill, drastically. While the typically clean, yet busy, dining room was a mess. :( Next time, we may as well pass this location by & go to the family's other location, Tony's in Fair Lakes ( yelp.com/biz/tonys-new-y… ), as they don't seem to have a problem with consistency.

This place prepares outstanding Italian recipes at great prices in a bar-like atmosphere that is very comfortable and enjoyable to dine in and relax with the family. They have the best Seafood Pizza I've had in 20 years! The management is awesome, always reaching to satisfy their customers, my favorite restaurant in Gainesville by far!

This is not a review of the pizza. I have not tried it. I did have a hot turkey and cheese sub. MEEHHH. There was nothing specifically wrong with the sub; it was just so underwhelming. A few slices of cold cut turkey, a few slices of cold cut cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The restaurant was suitably clean, and had TVs on the wall tuned to sports channels. Counter service was also acceptable. Prices seemed consistent with other pizza and sub joints in the area.

We love their pizza!!! I'm from Chicago, so I am very critical of pizza. In fact, I rarely ever like super thin pizza, but this place has me hooked. In fact, any time my family is in town (also Chicagoans) we ALWAYS get pizza from here! Now it's no Chicago pizza (which is impossible to get outside of Chicago! IM-POSSIBLE!!!), but it's my favorite local pizza joint. The ordering process can be a little weird, as you walk in and order at the counter. If you haven't been here before, you usually end up standing there for a few minutes staring at the menu and kinda feeling a little uncomfortable as it seems like everyone is watching. But relax, no one cares. Take your time, then order a cheese pizza and a house salad. Joey and Marco run this place - two brothers who grew up in Italy. Their Dad brought the family over, started a pizza place, and raised his boys in the business. Then he got them their own store to run, and they do a great job! One thing a lot of people don't know about Pizza NY Margherita is that they cater! And their catering prices are out of the world! My wife and I decided their food was so good, and their prices were even better, that we used them to cater our wedding! We simply hired wait staff to manage the buffet line, and had these guys provide the food, and the reviews were great! We ordered the sausage and roasted peppers, the penne with rose sauce (marinara & alfredo mixed), the salad, and bread sticks. It was phenomenal!!! Joey took care of everything for us, made sure things went just as planned, and helped top off a very special day!!! We still do smaller catering orders from them all time. And when they say it serves 15-20, it's more like 20-25 or even 30! So whether you just want some yummy pizza with lots and lots cheese, a good salad with great homemade house dressing (we actually buy a $5 quart sometimes to take home), or if you want to cater a great meal for an even better price, you need to check out Pizza NY Margherita! Get to know Joey and Marco too - - if you are nice enough, they'll probably throw in a free canoli from time to time! Here's another vote for local, family-owned businesses!!!

It took 40 minutes for 2 pizzas and there were only 2 other patrons in the restaurant. They apologized multiple times and offered free dessert. I've had their subs before and they are very good. The pizza margherita was tasteless and bland. Actually the subs are great

My son and I went to NY Margherita's a few nights ago bc we were in the mood for pizza and wanted to try a new place. We ordered a large cheese pizza, peach gelato, chicken nuggets and fries, and a cannoli. We are giving them 5 stars because: 1. The pizza was surprisingly delicious. We were both surprised bc every place we have been to in the area (Tony's, Joe's, Bertucci's) have been less than stellar, to say the least. We are used to NYC pizza, and this place has brought back memories of our pizza days there. 2. Everyone who worked there that we dealt with were super nice, professional, and quick. Although there were quite a few orders being taken, etc., we didn't feel rushed at all, our order was perfect and didn't have to wait long. 3. The cannoli was fresh and amazing. And, we were given a generous portion of peach gelato and it was delicious as well. 4. The chicken nuggets were made as I do them at home, with real chicken, and it didn't seem frozen, nor was it too salty, and my son loved them. It was an all around great experience and a well deserved 5 stars. We went a second time the other night and they were just as wonderful!

Having only sampled takeout from here before, last night we popped in here to dine in for dinner. It was around 8 p.m. & pretty well occupied for a Tuesday night. We were a little confused re: the ordering process. Stood around for a few minutes waiting to be seated, only to be eventually informed by the guy at the counter (who handed us two takeout menus), that we order & pay at the counter, then go select a table & wait to be called. Hubby ordered & paid, we self-served our soft drinks, selected a booth, & stuck our "#36" in the holder at our table. Since we were expecting to have to pick up our food, were surprised when a nice young lady arrived at our booth bearing a large platter of our to-share appetizer - beautifully & perfectly cooked fried calamari. Large rings, (just like our previous takeout order), but so tender you could cut them with a fork. Not a hint of chewiness. The breading was a lovely pale gold, & they were crisp, hot, & absolutely greaseless. Addictive. They were served with 2 lemon wedges & a small ramekin of hot marinara sauce, nicely spiked with crushed red pepper flakes. The portion was more than ample, & I could easily enjoy this as an entree, perhaps with a small salad on the side. They courteously brought us out two plates to make sharing easy, which is always a nice touch. Our 4-cheese pizza with mushrooms came out next - again, brought to our table & placed on a rather rickety little stand. Certainly no whining about lack of cheese here - lol!! This baby was COVERED. While a bit more melted cheese than my husband likes, surprisingly enough you could actually tell & taste that there were different cheeses on the pie, & the mushroom slices were large & appeared fresh (or at least quality canned). There's a small caddy on each table containing grated parmesan, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, & ground black pepper so you can season to your taste. Another nice touch. All that cheese, however, made the pie way too rich to make much work of - especially after the terrific calamari - & we ended up taking most of it home to enjoy for a couple of lunches. Since hubby hadn't added a tip to his credit card payment since he assumed we'd be doing our own table-waiting & bussing, we left a cash tip on the table, although I suspect the bus staff ended up with that. They really need to refine the ordering/seating process/info, as I imagine this probably happens a lot.

This is the place we go for a quick, inexpensive meal out with the kids. You've been to lots of places like this -- serving sub sandwiches, pizza, pasta and such. That means it has the ideal menu for kids. Each night there are some specials that are full meals, in the $10-15 range. The steak and cheese, and grilled chicken steak subs are our favorites. The calzone and what they call rustica pizza are very good. (I am guessing it has lots of ricotta and mozzarella -- it is very rich.) The regular pizza is okay -- there is no great pizza in northern Virginia. There is usually sports on the TVs, and it can be a little noisy, but, hay, it's a family place and great if you don't want to break the bank,

The sister of Tony's New York Pizza in Fair Lakes, they do it good like Tony's. It's bigger, newer and much more spacious than the Fair Lakes joint. Same great food, just in a different spot! Make sure you try a slice of the Pizza Caprese!

I really like the lunch specials, in particular the slice and salad combo - unlike many lunch specials it's a LARGE salad. The pizza by the slice is typical for that style. If you really want to experience good pizza, especially of you are with a group, order a whole pizza - much better! The owners are friendly and I've had no issues ordering. They offer pretty standard stuff - if you don't care for the menus that are overhead, they have paper to go menus on the counter you can look over - or just ask questions.

Best pizza in the area, the crust and sauce are really something you'll only find equaled in NY itself! Love this place. Although their gluten free pizza crust needs a do over... They should look up king Arthur's gluten free flour and try using that. Much better then anything else for those looking for a gluten free alternative. Still their normAl pizza, especially the margarita is amazing! Btw their salads are great too! Especially the house italian dressing!

Joe's pizza (down the street) is wayyyyyy better! the people at the counter look/act confused. was charged for 2 drinks when i only ordered one. when i confronted them & told them to refund me- was looked at w/ a blank stare, similar to a deer in headlights... so then i said, ok- i'll make it easy for u, how about you just give me a cannoli to go? then of course a manager had to come over to approve it & i was given the 'ok' but not before i was told the dessert was more pricey!! (by .75 cents!) ya, for the inconvenience alone of having to stand up there & explain myself twice & then to the manager(3x total) i should have gotten 2 cannolis ;) but back to review~ food was just ok. had a pizza slice-pineapple/ham-good. then lasagna, but the sauce was just weird..not like the mother-in-laws , perhaps i'm spoiled!

My family has been going to Tony's in Fair Lakes for years. We love the food and Tony treats us like family. He actually offered us his house in Italy if we ever made the trip there! When we moved to Warrenton, we were sad that we wouldn't be able to get to Tony's as often. What a great surprise when we found out he was opening a restaurant on Gainesville! Same menu as Tony's with a few added treats. If you go, you have to try the Fettuccine Mediterraneo! It's always amazing and cooked to perfection. While we don't see Tony there very often, his kids are always there and we've gotten to know them quite well over the years. If great food and great people are what you're looking for, look no further

We live in the neighborhood and used to go to to Pizza Margherita A Lot. Now - we will never go back. For the past 4 take out orders we have placed the pizza has been undercooked, very light on the toppings to the extent they were almost non-existent (11 pieces of ham on a medium pizza??) and loaded with salt. The pepperoni pie we ordered was the same. It was so bad it prompted me to not only write a letter, but to include pictures of both pies as well. I included my name, address, etc in the letter and mailed to this establishment and the ones in Bristow and Manassas. I received NO response - None! - from anyone! Oh so very disappointing. It is a shame when restaurants lose sight of what is important - quality and their patrons. We will no longer go to Pizza margherita or any Tony's.

I'm really torn on this place. Half of me wants to give it five stars; the other half says two. So we'll compromise at three. My problem with them is that they're horribly inconsistent. When they're on their game, the pizza is among the best I've ever had. The pan pizzas are cooked perfectly and not too oily. The brick ovens are nice and crispy. The regular pies are exactly cheesy and saucy enough. The sauce is the perfect pizza sauce. The toppings and combinations are great. The desserts are yummy. Their pasta dishes are fine, but the pizza is the real star. And the staff is usually very nice, if somewhat apathetic (I worked at a pizza place, though, so I understand). But they're soooo inconsistent. About half the times I've gone there in the past 6 months or so, they've screwed something up. Half the pizza is missing cheese. Or they didn't do something special we requested. Or they gave me someone else's order. Or they ran out of a particular topping and decided to substitute another without checking with me. Or it's not rolled out right and is half the size it should be. Or they'll add tons of one topping and almost none of another. Sadly, the list goes on and on. And they do put in some effort to fix the problem, but not enough to make up for it. I don't want to drive all the way back there and wait another 15 or 20 minutes for my dinner. And when you give me the wrong pie, I don't just want a few bucks off my next order if I spend over a certain amount. That's not acceptable. Sigh. At its best, I really do love this place. But my patience is running out and I'm starting to consider other pizza options.

I Love Pizza! I could eat it every day and am therefore always looking for a good pizza place. Pizza NY Margherita does not disappoint! They have a vast menu but, my order is usually for pizza and house salad (the dressing is really good). The food has an authentic appeal and I even saw they had Sfogliatelle's (Italian pastry) the other day! They also have real Gelato! YUM! I've eaten in and picked up and would say my food always seems better when I pick up, probably because I'm ordering a fresh made pizza instead of just a few slices from the bar. The staff is friendly and I come in often enough that some recognize me, which I think is nice. The only reason they don't get five stars is because the eat-in area and fountain drink area could be kept up a little better.

This restaurant has some relation to Tony's NY Pizza...the owners are related somehow. There is definitely a similarity between the pizzas and menus. We got take-out here for the second time last night and I wasn't impressed. I love just a good old slice of cheese pizza and this place is so-so. I liked the crust, but the cheese and sauce was just okay. I still love Wegmans plain cheese pizza the best! Margherita's gave us a large pizza, but it really ended up being quite small. Also, the bread sticks are quite doughy. They're good if your craving carbs, but they were very unexciting. The service was friendly and speedy and the prices are decent- $16 for bread sticks and a large cheese pizza. I probably won't go here again when I'm craving pizza...Wegmans is still my favorite brick oven pizza!

The opening notes of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" began to filter through Yelp... Another entrant into the Greater Haymarket/Gainesville area megaplex pizza wars has made it's debut - enter "Pizza NY Margherita" For those of you that are fans of Tony's NY Pizza in Fair Lakes - you may also like this place - the same folks own and run the place. The joint opened just over a week ago according to the girl at the counter. I called in an order for pickup: one 14" New York Style meat lovers pizza with mushrooms added, and an order of spicy chicken wings. Pizza and wings were tasty. The only thing that I would ding them on is the meats on the pizza needed to be cooked a tad longer. The wings were the breaded and fried variety - so the breading contained the spice - their spicy is not that hot to me. I whipped up a small bowl of Frank's Buffalo wing sauce to dip my wings and flavor them. The consistency of the wings were good, crisp, cooked perfectly, and with a side of Blue Cheese dressing. I wish the Blue Cheese dressing were a bit on the chunky side. The menu contains a variety of offerings: appetizers, subs, Calzone, Stromboli, pasta, veal, and more. For eat in diners - the interior of the place is quite spacious. Was a decent crowd eating in and picking up on a Monday evening. Will be back!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
