I have been to this location twice. They have good sweet tea (it's not humming bird nectar), and I like the different chilies. The 2nd time I dined here, the food was really slow to come out. Seeing as they have an open kitchen and I could see the staff not remotely busy, I was annoyed. The food is pretty good when it's warm, but my god, the leftovers are disgusting. I don't understand how the food can taste so different from being cooled and reheated.

Out of all thw Hardtimes in Virginia this ine is the worst. They think everyone likes to hear loud rap music while eating. Their main clients wear their pants so their underwear shows. Music is too loud wait staff is slow and rude. They bring in bands that play head banging music. We will never go there again and will tell everyone they will have a poor expeirience. Eating at Sheetz would be better.

I went to HTC 4 Mile for the recent Saving Abel concert. The good: Great servers with friendly attitude and attentive service. The burger & fries were delicious and the draught beers tasted fresh. Impressive lighting system (Madrix). The bad: Smoking, no coat check - my coat reeked for days afterwards. TVs remained on during the show, which was a distraction from the bands. The awful: Bad vocals sound - SA's lead singer's mic often cut out while singing. Given all the expensive-looking equipment they have at the sound boards, I was surprised and disappointed by this.

Drinks are good. A couple was asking about the table next to us asking if anyone was there, the lady that was there before left and has been gone, no one picked up her left over plate so I picked it up and brought it to a waitress saying that the lady has been gone and a couple was wanting to sit there and she asked why I did that I said because I'm a nice person, I was told not to do it again. I just thought it was rude that she didn't even say thanks for picking up her slack. I guess that's what you get for being nice.

Being lovers of the Hard Times Cafe in Rockville, Md and Old Town, Va, we were delighted to learn that there were Hard Times in Fredericksburg, Va! I should have taken the time to read the reviews before going. First, despite the smoking laws in Va, this restaurant allowed smoking in its large pool room/ bar, despite the lack of complete barrier between the rooms. In addition, the service was lacking. On the plus side, the grilled wings were wonderful, and chili very good. We ate very quickly, did not finish ( because of the nauseating smoke) and took the leftovers back to our hotel. Will never return to this restaurant. I rated this poor because of both the smoke and wait staff.

So we went to Hard Times to watch the Super Bowl because we needed a new spot to check out. My first impression every time I go to this place is a dirty bar with low lit lighting so you can't tell how bad it is in there. The music from their jukebox was blaringly loud. So loud in fact we were shouting to each other just to have a conversation. The staff was friendly but not really on top of the orders or noticing that you are looking for them to fill your glass and when you see them they just rush off without even noticing you are calling because of the volume of the music. The smoke... I thought bars banned smoking indoors. Well this place had'nt. My lungs were hurting and I smelt like a cigarette factory after I left. It was overwhelming. The food was mediocre. I had a burger and asked for medium rare which apparently is a mistake here because I only ate the medium rare on the outside and left the pink in the center alone. If I were to reccomend someone to go here I wouldn't. If you want a billiards hall you could go to JJ's right down the street. As a restaurant you could have mucch better. A sports bar you could go to a number of places as well. Not my cup of tea as they say...

4 kinds of chilli. I'm down with that. The texas was very bold and thick chilli, tons of flavor flave. I also tried the Red hot something or other, it was not as spicy as you'd think and it actually worked out better because i did frito pie style, and let me taste all the other awesome stuff. Loved having frito pie's at the pool when i was a wee one. Atmosphere was good with typical poolhall style, and then a big sports bar section. Get's a bit smokey since they let you smoke in there. Server sucked, so thats why lowering 1-star. I'd go back if it didn't mean i was forced to watch another Redskins game.Bleghh, go eagles.

Nice little place to eat. Met friends there tonight and had chili cheese fries and a burger. Their burgers are always a winner and I can never decide from the four chilies which are my favorites. A nice cozy place to eat and enjoy with friends.

WOW! This venue is huge - I have been to other Hard Times but this one is the MACK DADDY or BIG BUBBA. Capacity must be over 500ppl. Great service, glass was always full. The waitresses are super freindly and the burger was great. You will see me again at this HTC

Hit and miss. We go to the non-smoking dining side on the left of the entrance. The food quality and service is sometimes four stars but sometimes only one. Recently it seems that portion sizes have decreased and prices are up. Good for large groups.

Separate dining area. Huge Bar and seating plus numerous pool tables. Lots of TVs in a sports bar environment. Great beer specials and food is excellent!

We love the grilled chicken salad, think it is one of the best salads in the Fredericksburg Area. We also like the chili, everyone has a different favorite. They handle groups well, we tend to go there with 8-10 people and service is little slow as expected with a group but good.

Six of us went there for dinner. Cigarette smoke was thick enough to stab with a knife. The long bar was filled with locals, the several pool tables were vacant and so was the dance floor. We ate in the bar area since the dining room was vacant (bad move, we didn't realize the wall of smoke we were about to go into). Group inertia settled us in. My Texas chili on bubba (corn bread) was spicy and good. Others mentioned that their choice of the four chilis was very salty and greasy. Waitresses were friendly and attentive to the drinks (my diet coke was never empty before another appeared).
