The summer rolls were fantastic. I loved the peanut sauce that came with the summer rolls and the sweet vinegar sauce for the spring rolls is equally yummy. The spring rolls were a little greasy and I prefer a lighter crispier wrapper, but still good. The Pho is delicious. I had the tofu one and loved it. My daughter had the beef one with soft tendon. We weren't sure what soft tendon was, but tried it anyway. It has a fatty, wet texture kinda like raw bacon. My daughter did not care for it, but the beef was great and the Pho broth was mild and delicious. They delivered quickly through eat24. I loved the delivery bowl container. It made eating easy. The website says 90-150 minutes for delivery but ours came in 35. I will definitely order from here again and the eat24 app was easy to use.

I have to say that I'm very surprised at this restaurant. I thought i can only find legit Viet food at Eden center. This restaurant is probably better than half of the ones at Eden Center. The Pho is very good and authentic. It's probably second best in Nova beside Eden kitchen The vermicelli noodle is amazing. The meat is tender and tasty. The crispy roll is crunchy and delicious. The portion is huge which is a plus. The best thing bout this restaurant is their services. I am Vietnamese and I'm usually embarrassed with all the services at Viet restautants in Eden center. Servers there are very rude and nasty. All the servers at this restautant are very nice, friendly and can carry a conversation with you...both in Vietnamese and English. They forgot one order at my table so they gave me the dish for free even though i only had to wait for extra 5 mins. I don't think i can even find that kind of service at any restaurants. This is such a hidden diamond. The only cons is their fish sauce. It's not as salty as i expected; however, i think they try to cater for all kinds of customers. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Vermicelli bowl is always a good choice. Lots of great spring rolls and b&w pork. Also lots of lettuce
(5)Miki D.
Excellent soup flavor. Best spring rolls. Outstanding service. Grilled Lemon chicken is the best!

I've driven past this place for a few years but never once stopped in until recently. It's been very cold in NoVA lately and I was in the mood for soup. Fortunately my boyfriend was feeling adventurous so we decided on pho for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. We both ordered pho and hot tea (we were in the mood for something warm). I ordered pho with eye of round steak and brisket and my boyfriend got eye of round. Our soup came out quickly and arrived hot. The soup was good, broth was flavorful and good portions of meat and noodles. The prices are decent though. Good service, friendly staff, and importantly, tasty pho. If you're in the Fairfax area and want good pho fast, make a stop at Viet House.

This place is a quaint little Ma & Pa establishment located in a strip mall. While I'm always skeptical of restaurants in strip malls, this place is definitely a hidden little gem. The Pho is actually quite tasty and some of my favorite in the area. It is a little pricier than most, but then again, you get what you pay for. The service is okay. Most of the time when we go in we have to remind the staff to refill our drinks. That is not such a big deal as the food is always quick to get to our table and the staff is extremely nice. They are extremely personable and really do try and make you feel at home in their little establishment. I would definitely recommend for anyone that wants good Pho.
(4)Tram N.
The pho is pretty good. Meat taste fresh. Fast and friendly service
(4)Sarina P.
This is one of my favorite pho places because, in addition to consistently good pho, they also have a full line of bubble teas and fruit smoothies. Service is fast and pleasant, parking is plentiful. The grilled meat platters are a good size, as are the bun bowls. Something for everyone!
(4)Kimmy L.
My extended family and I have been coming here off and on for the past 15 years and this was my go-to when I lived in Clifton/Centreville. Their service and quality are consistent and their pho broth is on point. Very authentic broth and nice portions of meat. I also love their rice and vermicelli dishes...the Com Tam Bi in particular is cooked well here and their fish sauce is actually good. If you are extra hungry, I highly recommend their crispy spring rolls! Any excuse to drink up their fish sauce :) My mom make the best fish sauce ever so it is hard to find decent sauce at other Vietnamese restaurants. Typically they taste like water and you can barely taste any lime.
(4)Mike G.
The pho is excellent and is one of my favorite places for Vietnamese food in the area. The spring rolls are good and i usually get the iced coffee which definitely packs a punch.
(4)nel r.
The food is "okay" but their soup tastes like soap. Won't order and eat here ever again.
(1)David H.
It's a good option for Pho, but as some others have mentioned, not my first choice. I ordered the #2 which included flank steak, brisket and unfortunately, tripe and fatty chunks of something else that I didn't like. But because I didn't read the description carefully, it was my fault. So next time, I'll try and get only meat and NO fat. Who orders fat in their pho anyway? I also had some spring rolls as well; they were pretty tasty but a little greasy.
(3)Jacob K.
My goto pho spot. Mainly cause its 5 minute walking distance. The broth can vary sometimes, but overall its the best around. And its also the most expensive around. I wish they would realize the rate at which they raise their prices is not competitive, but its their business and long as they keep making above average pho I'll keep coming back.
(4)Giovanna P.
I've been going here the past 3 years. A little location on Main street that is always has regular costumers eating. Broth is flavorful and the hostess are friendly!
(5)Chris C.
By far the best vietnamese restaurant in NoVa. I have tried many different ones in downtown DC, Eden center, etc. and none of them come close. The broth is the best I have ever had and the meat is always cooked perfectly. Their Vermicelli bowl is absolutely the best. The noodles are the perfect texture and temperature. The service is great as well. Cant recommend this place enough.
(5)Alexandra G.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. They have hands down the best vegetarian pho, spring rolls, and summer rolls in Fairfax. The owner tells me they spend 5-6 hours cooking the veggie broth each morning and that ingredients include pears, yellow squash, and zucchini. It is well spiced and traditional--not Americanized. They use fresh soft tofu which they make in house and a tofu balogna from an exclusive distributor. They also do not use any MSG. The portions are generous and the food is well priced. I recommend getting hot jasmine tea with your meal :)
(5)D M.
My go-to place to get vegetarian Pho!!!! It's hands down the best in the area. The vegetarian pho has vegetable broth, which is nearly impossible to find in other local pho restaurants. Peter - he runs the place - is SO friendly and knows me personally. He's so kind and awesome and wants to make every guest feel at home. He welcomes everyone with a huge smile and wants to make sure all guests are happy. I'm actually going to get myself some tonight before this huge storm!!! Hits the spot every time.
(5)S. T.
I went here for lunch a couple of days ago, the pho was pretty good. I got the #16 special (bo vien or vietnamese meatballs), my loser friends got the #1 combination (so basic), in fact one of them got a small bowl and bo vien on the side!!! like who does that. Well aside from the Pho, I got the Ca Phe Sua Da ( the iced coffee) it was pretty good and it woke me up for my 3:00 class. I would recommend this to my friends, but not potential lovers.
(4)Scarlet K.
Before I moved, this place was my it-pho-place all the time. Whenever I have a pho craving I go here! The food is good and the service is alright, nothing really to complain. Super convenient location.
(5)Jenny S.
This is pretty much my "to-go" pho place if I'm not in the mood to drive all the way to Falls Church. Viet House is consistently packed and delivers good pho. I love their egg rolls and summer rolls. The service here has gotten better I believe, much friendlier and quicker with your orders and water refills. Although not my favorite pho place, Viet House does satisfy my pho craving and I always leave happy.
(3)Solange R.
The owner of this establishment always makes me feel so welcome! Wonderful pho. The broth is delicious. Lunch time gets busy and for all the right reasons. Definitely try their boba tea :)
(5)Brandima A.
Still the best, eat in - take out always ends up more of a headache than necessary.
(5)Lisa N.
Viet House offers a variety of Vietnamese dishes, besides pho. I like this location because the service is quick and friendly. The pho is a little better than average for the area, but it's pricier. The crispy egg rolls are a bit oily. I like the rice dishes... and always get the iced Vietnamese coffee!
(4)Tim H.
Good menu with large and prominent vegetarian page. The rest of the menu looks quite good, though my friends and I all had the pho, which was good but the meat had more fat and connective tissue than I like. I'm something of a regular at nearby Pho Today, but came here with my officemates to see what we might be missing. We'll probably come back to try again, but I wasn't blown away by the pho, which was also more expensive than Pho Today. Points upfront for the great vegetarian options, but other than that I'm waiting to find something special.
(3)David S.
This place is really good. I usually get the Vermacelli bowl and it is outstanding. I have brought friends and family here that had never had Vietnamese and they have all loved the Vermacelli bowl. Highly recommend this place.
(4)Gregg M.
I was running some errands in Fairfax and it was lunchtime. I'm always in the mood for pho, so I stopped at Viet House for a steaming bowl of goodness. It didn't immediately occur to me that it was part of a small local chain of pho shops and that the same people own the one close to me on Richmond Hwy. Once I came to that realization, I assumed the pho would be better than average. I started of with an order of summer rolls. The two summer rolls came out first. They were decent sized and generously filled with shrimp and other things. However, they seemed a bit dry and the Thai basil leaf was the primary flavor profile I got from the roll. The accompanying peanut sauce was a bit too sweet to my particular taste. Next, I ordered the small bowl of Chin, Nam, Gau, Gan, Sach (well-done brisket, well-done flank, fat brisket, soft tendon, and tripe). My bowl of pho soon appeared. It seemed to me to be a bit on the small side for its $7.95 price. I've seen bigger for cheaper. However, the broth was very flavorful, perhaps a bit darker, possessing a beefier taste than its sister store on Richmond Hwy. So much for consistency between stores! I didn't mind, though, since I favored this location's broth more. The pho contained an ample amount of meat and noodles. The basil, bean sprout, jalapeno pepper slices, and lime add-ins were fresh and sufficient in quantity. All told it was a successful bowl of pho.
(3)CYNTHIA C.
Delicious pho. Typical Asian service ... don't expect too much. Quick service. The Thai Ice Tea boba drink was gross.
(4)Kim D.
This place is not that bad. I think we go here way too much because the servers pretty much know what we want already and how we want it. It's definitely the place I go to chow down after a stressful day or if I'm raving mad hungry. After a nice large #9, I'm usually content with the world again. :) Oh yeah, the summer rolls are good and so is the grilled chicken and strawberry smoothie! Mmm, pho... Ok, the only downer was that I heard that their kitchen is disgusting from the brother of someone who works there. That made me not want to eat there for a while, but I just couldn't stay away. The dining area seems pretty clean though, so I don't know for sure about the kitchen.

I've been to the other Viet House in the City of Fairfax many times, this was my first visit to the other Fairfax location. I needed lunch Saturday afternoon after getting a haircut - so I stopped in as it was not out of the way. The place was packed for Saturday lunch. I waited less than five minutes for a table - they had to quickly bus it - they had two large tables open - but I told them I did not want to take up a large table all by myself. As usual, I ordered the Pho Ga - with white meat - small bowl, and a glass of ice water with a wedge of lime. Food came out quickly - a nice steaming bowl of broth - veggies and herbs were all in good shape: Culantro, Basil, lime wedge, and sprouts - strangely - no jalapenos. Ah well. The chicken was delicious and not dry and overcooked. The broth straight up was very good on its own - I slurped down a good bit of it before spicing it up with the Sriracha sauce. Of course I had to add squirts of Sriracha to many individual bites of noodles and chicken! Service was good - the waiter refilled my water glass promptly. The men's restroom here was in pretty decent shape, it could have used a spiffing up. I will come back here again!
(4)Richard S.
Pho's alright. Kind of expensive relative to other places but it's the closest place to my home so I can't really complain. Yeah...
(3)Al O.
The pho is great here, no questions about that. Nice and clean broth and a decent portion of meet. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the price is high. It is about a dollar more in comparison with other places nearby.
(4)Mickey V.
Great Pho
(4)Alida H.
2.5 stars. I decided to come here after an exhausting snowboarding trip because it was convenient. The restaurant decor seems old and outdated, however, it was a very spacious place nonetheless. The food came out fairly quick, but the pho wasn't piping hot like I expected it to be. The flavor was a bit on the bland side, but decent for the time being so I ended up using more hoison sauce and sriracha than normal. Next time I'm going to stick to my usual favorite pho spots and not sacrifice taste for convenience.
(2)Boyd H.
Meh. Their takeout method is chilling the food, which is weird. The broth itself isn't as well spiced as others I have had, and unfortunately the tendon was... undesirable.
(2)Josh B.
We dropped in for a bowl of Pho on a cold rainy night, and weren't disappointed. The staff is very friendly and efficient. My Pho Ga was good and filling, if unspectacular. Hey, it's Pho. I wasn't expecting miracles. You get the usual side ingredients and condiments just like at the other hundred thousand Pho houses out there. The staff was very sweet to my 3 year old daughter, and I'm sure that we'll be back if only based on location.
(3)Dan M.
Good pho! Friendly service.

What better way to judge a Vietnamese place than it's pho? Plus, it's always hard to tear myself away from this tantalizing type of noodle soup. I was expecting a lot from this place because of all the raves on yelp so I was willing to drive the extra distance. My first impression was of the typical family-owned restaurant and it was filled with Vietnamese clientele. I hadn't had crispy spring rolls in a loooooong time so I ordered some to share. It wasn't the thin and smooth fried spring rolls that are typical, but the extra-crispy type with some bubbling that I absolutely love. It was fresh, hot, and not too oily. Oh lord of crispy spring rolls, how I praise thee! And the dipping sauce (fish sauce+yumminess) wasn't watery like other places. It was flavorful and just how I liked it! YAY! The pho was good. It was flavorful. Maybe too flavorful. There was a strong strong taste of.... maybe anise like another reviewer said... but it was heavy on some one spice. Not quite to my taste. And my bowl of pho was pretty salty! Which was strange because my bf's bowl wasn't as salty as mine. The beef came on top so I could make sure it wasn't overcooked. Cut was thin and yummy (quality, not crap). Although there was maybe only one piece of tripe in what I asked for =[

We weren't wowed by the pho here when we've tried it, we go to Pho Thang Long for that, but this place has the best Bun (Vermicelli Bowl) we've found anywhere. The Bun here is a pile of rice vermicelli noodles with sliced of carrot, cucumber, and grilled pork, plus two sliced up crispy summer rolls. They also bring you a small bowl of sauce, which we like to dip out summer rolls into before pouring the rest over the noodles. I'm not sure what's in the sauce, probably some sort of fish sauce and some stock, but whatever it is, it is delicious. What really sets the Bun apart here from the other places we've tried it is the freshness of the vegetables and the lightness of the sauce. Every other place we've tried this dish has a sauce that has a greasier feeling to it, but at Viet House the sauce is nice and light, but with just as much flavor.

If I look at just the pho and the pho only, I must say their pho is good. It had all the fresh ingredients and visually looked right. If there is such a thing as dark and mild for phos I must say their pho is in the mild side. The broth had no oil floating around and it had that clean look, and it tasted just the way it looked. I personally prefer a bit more flavor in it but I can see others who may prefer this mild tasting broth. The dark and heavy broth in comparison I can think of is Xinh Xinh in Boston, which was wonderfully thick and oily and tasty. Their fried spring rolls were big. The problem with the big spring rolls is that although it may be crispy outside, the inside stays soggy and that was the case here. I was here last night by myself and the restaurant was about half full at 8:30pm. The waiters were nice enough and had no problem understanding what I wanted to order. I read some complaints about the waitresses/waiters here on some of the previous reviews so I was compelled to write a little bit about the service and my own experience. The only thing I did not like was, and maybe because it was getting close to their closing time, is that all 3 waiters at the time occupied a corner table and engaged in a very loud conversation amongst themselves while there were still other patrons eating.

The food has consistently been above average in over 10 years of eating here. I make it a habit to try all the new Pho restaurants in the area and I always come back to the Fairfax Viet House. You won't find the traditional fare found at higher-end Vietnamese restaurants at Eden Center, but those restaurants, I've found, don't do Pho as well as Viet. You will find the common dishes like lemon chicken, lemon pork, and vermicelli bowls but the quality of the food and service cannot be beat. The broth especially has a delicate taste and isn't oily like I've had at other restaurants. My wife likes the vegetarian pho with "ham". Besides the Pho I recommend their lemon chicken with rice dish. While it's the same kind chicken dish you'll find at other places, I find they don't overcook the chicken and they season this plate better than others. Order a small cup of broth if you order a non Pho meal, it's really cheap and sometimes they'll even give it to you for free. One item you don't find at most other Pho restaurants, which I particularly enjoy here, is there summer rolls with (fried) tofu.
(4)Kim V.
came here three times with friends. Their rice dishes and pho is pretty ok, I liked the rice more. I wanted to cut my meat into small pieces and I tried to ask the waiter if I could get a knife or scissors then he starts speaking in viet saying wth I need a scissor for the meat is already in a pretty good size. The waiter then storms into the kitchen and comes out and drops the scissor on the table. The scissored looked dirty and had stains on it, I asked politely if it was clean because it looked dirty and he got mad and said "then don't use it" in viet... hmm -___- the food is good in which I would consider coming back, but I don't understand why they have such an angry waiter/staff working there. Poor service does not exactly boost reputation. Most people I know that usually eat here are students because it's close to campus. probably would have given 3 stars but 2 stars only because of poor service.
(2)Kasha W.
The most delicious vegetrian pho in fairfax!
(5)Jack F.
Tasty pho. Generous portions. Fresh ingredients. Flavorful broth (something you don't need to add sriracha or hoison sauce). Reasonable prices. Isn't that all you need to know about a noodle house? [Original Visit: September 2011]
(3)Dave A.
Haven't tried much apart from the pho and summer rolls, but those are very good. Of course pho is fast to make, and cheap, so we like the price and service! I don't think we've ever seen it full, so no long waits for a table. One oddity though, they seem to follow the "go to the cashier to get your bill and pay" procedure, rather than the typical American style of the waiter dropping off the bill, taking it with your credit card at your convenience.
(4)Carolyn B.
Maybe others have not had issues but my waitress and me had a hard time discussing my order. Just point to what you want is the best idea. Quite tasty. The Vegetarian Pho did not have as many veggies in it but it was good. The tofu was cooked which was nice and there was tons of additives on the table. I had not been here since high school but I was fairly pleased with my meal. It doesn't beat Pho Golden Cow for vegetarian pho but it still hit my Pho spot. At the end of your meal, you must pay near the back of the restaurant at cashier when you are done.
(3)Mikey Z.
Got the vegetarian/tofu pho for take-out after shopping at the Goodwill next door and a long day of work. There were a lot of toppings, and they were nice and fresh. The broth, however, was just okay, and nowhere near as good as other pho I have had. I also found it strange that in addition to the tofu, there was also fake meat slices, which are described as "chicken" on the menu but I found closer in texture to ham or canadian bacon. An interesting addition, but I think I would've preferred to have more tofu than the 5 2-inch chunks they gave me instead. All in all, the pho was okay, and the takeout service was great, but I would probably not return here with all the other great pho in the area. Edit: I have since found out that the "chay" pho is actually meat broth? Not sure if this is still true, but if it is it's upsetting.
(3)Jorge V.
Whenever you are in Fairfax City, you must stop by this place. The people are extremely friendly and courteous. The food is great. I love thier vermicelli bowl which is awesome. Took the kids and the vegetarian wife and we loved the food.
(4)Ari D.
I love Viet House. I actually went here tonight with my family, but I also come here all the time by myself too for pho (I usually get the Pho Tai) and summer rolls. The spring rolls are pretty good too. The pho is fast and cheap, and I really like their broth. Service is relatively good, just be aware that some of the servers English is not the best. Overall I love this place. Great place to go out for a cheap lunch or dinner. :)
(4)Mark S.
PROS: food was good, restaurant was clean CONS: wish they had a fish tank to look at while I waited for my carryout food. yeah petty.. but boring just sitting there. a bit pricey compared to some other pho places.. but ehh fairfax.. it's where the rich and famous (ok maybe just rich) people flock i dunno what i ordered.. but it was OKAY. my girlfriend ordered some sort of porkchop dish with lemongrass flavor.. so much better tasting then mine. i think i had their pho a year or two ago.. but obviously it cant be SUPER good cause i would have remembered it.
(4)David L.
Being Vietnamese I guess it is natural for me to just love pho. The pho here is just not that good. The broth was very oily and had a lot of fat. The quality of meat used at this restaurant is not very good. I do not eat the vegetables that they bring out at pho restaurants, besides the lime, but it looked like it was sitting around for a while. I gave it 2 stars, because the pho was edible- not that I enjoyed it. They also take credit cards, which is nice.
(2)Ariel Z.
I used to go there for Pho and spring rolls. But I found a hair in the noodle soup last time and the waiter didn't even say sorry so I stop going there. And I also feel they put too much MSG in the soup coz I always felt thirsty after eating their noodles.
(2)Irene K.
Went in today for a hangover cure and ordered pho and the spring rolls and it definitely hit the spot. The flank meat was fresh and soup was plentiful. The spring roll is better without meat in it. I gave it 4 stars because I had no problems with the staff. They were actually very friendly with us. Had the coconut water but it was sweeter than I would have liked. My husband being a pho connoisseur claims Viet House has the freshest meat compared to other Pho restaurants.
(4)Jee D.
I usually end up at Viet House on Sunday mornings when I come visit the 'rents in VA. It's a small place, but I've never waited longer than 5 minutes for a table, even when it was packed to the gills. The prices have gone up at least a dollar since the last time I've come here, but with the economy the way it is, I understand. I usually order a small #12 (I believe it has flank and round in it) or a vermicelli bowl, and we split orders of spring and summer rolls as a table. The summer rolls are fresh with a little pork, vermicelli, bean sprouts, lettuce and shrimp in a little cylindrical bundle. The peanut sauce that accompanies them is also really good - not watered down like some other places - with a little sprinkle of chopped peanuts on top. The spring rolls are super tasty too - the wrap is chewy with some give but still crispy and so yummy; however, they were a bit oily last time we got them. I usually like the pho here, but the past couple of times I noticed that it tasted a bit....soapy? At first I thought it was the spoon, but no, it was the broth. Sadly no amount of hoisin and sriracha could cover the taste. The vermicelli bowl is really good - strips of grilled pork, spring rolls, noodles and veggies with fish sauce on the side. The grilled pork isn't the best ever but it's still good. I really hope they figure this whole soup = soap thing; otherwise, I won't be coming back, which is a shame since about a year ago, I probably would have said Viet House is my go-to pho place in Fairfax.
(3)Heidi S.
I stopped in here for lunch after reading the reviews and I was disappointed. The waitstaff was pretty rude, including when my waitress killed some kind of insect or bug on the wall over my head while I was eating my meal. She grabbed a napkin from the napkin holder on my table, glared at me, then smashed the insect or whatever it was on the wall for several seconds, then walked off, without saying a word before, during, or after the insect squishing. I spent the rest of the time wondering what kind of bug it was and, suffice to say, I lost my appetite. Other than the service, the food wasn't that great. I had grilled pork and fried spring rolls over vermicelli noodles. The pork was overcooked and tough. The spring rolls were not terrible.
(2)Hassito V.
After eating at other Pho places in the area, I always come back to this one. They may not have much beyond pho, but if thats what you are looking for then this is the place to go. They have the absolute best pho broth I have ever had! Its delicious in the hot weather, cold weather, in the rain....its just heaven. The best part for me, (though I never checked if other places did this) is that they do Pho-To-Go!! This is handy because sometimes I fall into a coma of food ecstasy after eating here. Also, their smoothies are tasty! So Viet House, I must apologize, because since moving to McLean, you are not as convenient and sometimes I'll cheat on you with other phos for the sake of travel time. But please know that in my heart, there's only you.
(5)Ninja E.
Excellent Vegetarian Pho! the broth was so good taste like regular Pho. I only had the vegetarian pho & eggroll, so I can't speak for the other items on the menu.
(4)Margarita M.
This is my go to pho spot! The more I go the more I love it The food is always fresh, the vegetarian pho isn't too salty which is why I avoid the meat one, and the staff is great. The vermicelli bowl (bun) is awesome I love their spring and summer rolls.
(5)Kevin G.
Viet House is located in a frumpy-looking little shopping center. While the restaurant itself doesn't wow you with its atmosphere, the pho is the reason to come here! I get pho every time. I haven't found a better pho in the area... at other places the broth is too salty or too bland or the ingredients don't seem all that fresh. The broth here smells great! If you order your pho with top round they put it in raw and very thinly sliced and the hot broth cooks it in the bowl. The "toppings" (cilantro, thai basil, lime, bean sprouts, jalapeño) are all very fresh and crisp. MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE "SMALL" SIZE PHO! You'll be loosening your belt if you finish a bowl of the small... I can't imagine what a large looks like! The price is right. I've been eating here for nearly 3 years now, and probably at least 3 times a month for one of those years (I lived around the corner for a year). The pho is consistently delicious and it's one of my top restaurants for when I want a good, hot, healthy meal for under $10. The summer rolls and spring rolls are great too. I recommend you get a fruit smoothie. They have a variety of flavors, but my favorites are the jackfruit and the avocado. They're all made with real pureed fruit! The avocado smoothie has a pleasant texture and is delightful if you like avocado (it's very avocado-y!). The jackfruit I tried on a whim once because it was the only kind of fruit I'd never heard of. It's awesome and I recommend you try it. It has a flavor all its own. Sweet but not too sweet, not tart or sour. I order it nearly every time now. Overall, nothing flashy here but great food and a good quantity for the price. I've also been to the other location on Lee Highway. The experience and the food was pretty much identical.
(5)Yan W.
One of two establishments (the other one is also in Fairfax...), this Pho place is nice. It's unpretentious, gets food out fast, and has an excellent beef brisket. I'm always a big fan of their special chicken and rice dish. It's served with a bowl of Pho broth on the side, so you don't feel like your missing out if all of your friends are ordering Pho. It's Pho is not as good as Pho75, but then again, it's service if much better!
(3)Yelper O.
I love their Vermicelli. I have been to real Vietnamese restaurants that couldn't make Vermicelli as well as Viet House. Their pho is pretty good too. The portions are pretty decent. Their rolls are delicious, they are not microwaved!! (There are so many Vietnamese restaurants that microwave their summer rolls). This is the only pho restaurant along with Viet Crystal that I go to, it is clean and service is great!

I guess I'm cramming all my reviews in today. I've visited this place about 6 months ago and I will never go back. I don't care how bad of a hangover I have and this is the last pho place within 50 miles radius- I won't be going back to this place. Food, portions, and service sucks.

Price is really great here. The wait staff takes care of you and they're always attentive. Pho is pho-nomenal.

Came here with mom and aunt. Viet House was close to where we needed to go to next, so we decided to grab lunch here. I came here one other time, years ago. It's not one of the most memorable Pho experiences I've had but still OK. Service is friendly, which I greatly appreciate. I like that they offer fruit smoothie type drinks, though they aren't the best. It's not made with all fresh fruit, I taste some artificial powder stuff in there too. I still like the option of having a fruity smoothie drink with my soup. Their Small Pho had a generous portion of noodles, meats, soup, and other yummy goodies inside. The broth was lacking in depth of flavor but still quite tasty. I wouldn't say this is the best Pho out there, but it was convenient for us and we had a pleasant experience here. There is plenty of seating inside.

This is a pho place. I literally came here for something small to tie me over til I got home. Ordered 2 spring rolls to go. They were crispy, light, flavorful and crunchy. Came with a side of some sort of seasoned vinegar with seasonings for dipping, sort of sweet. It was really good actually. I really wanted to check out the place before coming for a meal. The place is plain, not much ambiance.

Flavorful herbal broth, plenty of meat, right amount of noodles = great bowl of pho. Good spot for simple, inexpensive Vietnamese comfort food. I love their meatball pho (bo vien) the portion is very generous and I always leave satisfied. Their egg rolls are crispy, but smaller than the usual that I've seen at other Vietnamese restaurants, but still tasty. Customer service is OK, but they're quick with water refills and orders. Come in, order, eat, pay at the counter, and you're good to go.

It's really difficult to screw up Pho, but this came close. I only have two major perspectives for how to set up pho success. The broth shouldn't be too dark or have fat pockets, and the noodles should be freshly added. You can usually tell by the texture on the noodles how long before arriving at the table they were added. Not only did both of these metrics fail, but the table smelled like It had been washed with a mop. Dank. Will not be back.

Best Vietnamese food in the western DC range according to my family. Excellent food, good prices, great service. Summer rolls and spring rolls great. Always get them before the main course. Pho Ga, the best. Broth is different than every other place, not sure why. Chicken is very thick pieces, dark or light meat. Chicken was juicy, not at all dry. Vermicelli lemon chicken is another favorite, always fresh, always very filling. Hefty amount of chicken, very tender. Definitely recommend the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Coffeezilla that even a Turk would love. The only down side is that everything is so good you end up with a food baby. (Oof)

Used to go here often as it was right in the neighborhood, close to home, had good pho, was inexpensive and quick. But the last time I went about two months ago, the broth wasn't very tasty, was unique like previous visits. It seemed as if the restaurant had changed ownership and changed the taste of the pho. Will probably try again in a couple of months because of the location before i simply give up on this restaurant.

Amazing pho soup flavor and great spring rolls. The smoothies are delicious as well. Customer service is not really present. You come in, order, get your food, and they don't bother to come back until you are ready to pay. Doesn't matter to me, the food is amazing. 5/5

Been coming here since I moved into the city of Fairfax about 7yrs ago. Their pho is consistent and I have to say the they more than just a hot bowl of pho. I highly recommend the vermicelli bowl. Grilled pork over noodles and cut up spring rolls heaven. I normally get the iced coffee for that extra kick of caffeine the stuff is high octane! The summer rolls are great also, fresh and tasty.

This place is good if you like traditional Vietnamese food and don't mind iffy customer service. I've been obsessed with pho these days! So I've dropped by this place at least once every couple weeks for the past two months or so. I always get their Thai Nam Gau Gan Sach bowl (#1-the one with everything in it) and it never disappoints. They always give a generous amount of meat and noodles. The soup's flavor is very authentic and addicting- it's what brings me back every time. Even with their bad service rep. I ordered for carry out once on the phone, and when I went in to pick it up at the expected time, they had just put in my order. Not knowing this at first, I stood around waiting, only to hear some lady at the cash register (who seemed to be the manager) talk smack about me in Cantonese to their waitress (guess she thought I didn't understand) -.-" jokes on her(?) Other times when I dined in with family and friends, the waiter/waitress always forgot something from our order. Their main waitress is very sweet, seems to be fresh out of high school and off the boat. The owner on the other hand (or the guy who seems to be the owner) is a bit unsettling. He sometimes takes orders and brings the dishes out to you. But I'm actually scared to ask him for anything (like lime -.-" they just don't give you enough per bowl) these days, since every time I do ask he looks like he wants to bite me. He'll just give me this look and nod and walk away. Sometimes he doesn't come back): and he knows english! I promise you that. Overall, the food is on point. No complaints on any of their pho or rice dishes from me, my family, or my friends. Their bubble tea is alright (it's all flavoring, no real fruit) but others seem to like it much more than I do. Overlooking the service, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Love this place. The bbq pork and chicken dishes are very tasty and the service is very warm and friendly. Pho is prepared in a very traditional way, the broth is so flavorful. Spring and Summer rolls are a must. Highly recommended!
(5)Michelle S.
This is my favorite place for Pho in Fairfax. I like that they have other items on the menu too like Vermicelli noodles with grilled meats and shrimp. If you are a vegetarian, they can accommodate you very well. The good is delicious and the service is very good.

I have been going to Viet House for a few years now and it never disappoints. Their spring and summer rolls are great, but we go strictly for their pho. Always consistent and delicious. I like that their broth is always very hot and it's not greasy like some other places.

Today was a nasty (blistering even) cold day and I was feeling pretty crappy, so figured perfect day for pho at work! Ordered the norm from here, beef of course, flank and eye of round. Main thing is always the broth, and this broth always tends to be on the lighter side of the pho horizon. Relatively clear, very little clear fat visible, nice taste with a good bit of onion taste. They must be using bones that aren't too fatty or maybe they just skim the trash many times. Whatever, it's pretty good albeit not for fans of a "strong" broth. Amazing as usual, beef were decent cuts and not overcooked. The flank was stupidly tender today; probably the best I've ever had from here. The vegetables are usually decently fresh, but the rosemary today looked sad to put it nicely. Although I get food from here a few times a month one thing makes me sad. The selection of adds for the pho is sooooo small. It's like going into a cheese shop and only having 2 types of cheese. Could use a bit improvement, average gang of heroes in the bowl consists of rosemary, sliced jalapenos, sprouts, and sliced onion/green onion/parsley mix. I've had the egg rolls many times too, tasty! Not the best pho in the world, but for Fairfax it's a pretty strong contender.

We NEEDED pho one night while driving around ended up here. The service isn't fantastic but for some reason I kind of expect that out of pho places. Someone to grumpily take my order, grumpily bring it to me, and then ignore me until I go up to pay - my bar is *that* low. My husband got a basic lean flank and spring rolls and I got lean, crunchy, and fatty flank. The meats were all good, the veg plate was generous and fresh, the broth was perfect and there were a ton of noodles for both of us. The spring rolls were sitting in a pool of their own grease but my husband said they were great. I'm only giving 3 stars because I live in Annandale and I know I have to be missing the Pho jackpot that I just haven't found yet. I may get another bowl here and scurry back to yelp to declare them king - who knows.

Viet House is conveniently located near GMU, which makes it a popular yet affordable lunch spot among students. I've been here twice during my pre-veg years. The pho and service were so-so. They have "vegetarian" pho, but the broth is still made out of beef stock (just like at all other Vietnamese restaurants). The pho was very uninspiring, borderline bland. The service was alright, no complaints there. They do take credit cards which is convenient (hence two stars). I'd rather go out of my way to Eden Center at Seven Corners for better quality Vietnamese food. In the meanwhile, do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
(2)Ka-Loon T.
On the Pho ranking scale, I'd say this is pretty much average. Nothing particularly special about it. I personally prefer say Pho 75 over this place except for the fact that Viet House takes credit card. And I definitely prefer Pho Bistro in Centreville (see my other review of it) over this place. But when it comes down to it, I've definitely had worse pho. Situated in a rather dingy strip mall that has nothing to pull the average pho hunter in, the 2 things that keeps me coming back, is the shock of seeing a complete takeout set they gave on my first visit (a bag full of bean sprouts and basil), and of course, the fact that this is the closest pho place to me. I like Pho 75 and Pho Bistro more, but not that much more that I'd drive the extra couple of miles. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood and have a craving, just look this place up.

Like 3.5 stars... There are a few things you should probably know prior to reading this review a) I am one of the biggest "white girls" you'll ever meet b) I will not eat anything that they reference in my human anatomy book (aka tendon, stomach lining... and yes, if they called hamburgers cow muscle i wouldn't eat it either!) c) the concept of Pho baffles me. I'm seriously going to pay $8 for soup? Not for me. But i was meeting people here, so i sucked up my misunderstanding of Pho and was promised they had "grilled things" too. They had four. Pork BBQ, Chicken BBQ, Grilled Lemon Chicken and some other thing i don't eat. So i opted for the grilled lemon chicken. So we get our little silverware sets and there are chopsticks and little ladel things in everyone elses. Nope, not mine! I got the "white girl utensil pack" with a fork, giant spoon and steak knife! Seriously. it was like they already knew that there was no way i was going to be able to handle chopsticks! Food comes and i dig in to my little salad (with three tomato and cucumber slices) and meat that I'm still not 100% was actually chicken cause it had a very odd texture. I was told it was just dark meat chicken (which I've never seen grilled) but i ate it anyway because it tasted really good. Who knows what it was. The flavors were great and the meat nice and tender. Overall a very pleasant experience. I liked that they didn't bring you the check so you could sit and chat as long as you'd like, but i was kinda creeped out by the two single chairs in the one room bathroom. Will i return? Probably if I'm meeting people, but i think this white girl will stick to burgers and BBQ for a while...

Now that is some good pho! Thanks to Tony P for recommending Viet House to me and giving me a new goto pho restaurant in Fairfax. There are many items other than pho here, but I think pho is the main attraction. Substantial bowls with one of the richest and heartiest broths I've had. Lots of anise, and tons of flavor. Noodles were a bit clumpy, but after a few minutes they managed to separate. Meats were decent, but I've had butter cuts before. Props for providing culantro, which seems to be a fairly rare veggie plate feature. The spring rolls were also excellent in flavor, but way too oily. I had to wrap them up in a napkin because they were making such a mess, but the flavor and crunch was second only to homemade spring rolls. Price was a tad high (over $8 for a large bowl), so I think I'll still swear by Pho Bistro in Centreville as my current all-time favorite, but for the Fairfax area, I think this will be my gold standard. Plus, it's right down the street from Woody's for some great soft serve during the summer!
(4)Jill K.
Just got the small pho tai, and the vegetarian summer rolls. Both were really great. Fresh, yummy, nom! This place was a touch more expensive than your typical pho place, but the broth was so delicious and complex it was worth it.
(4)Tony P.
I love this pho restaurant. There's a second sister restaurant down by the corner of Germantown Road. The pho is very good. I've been going to this place for several years now.
(4)Clarissa B.
This pho is really good!!! The only problem is the young waitress that work there. She keep on forgetting our orders and never refilled our water. Good thing the food is really good!!! Summer and spring rolls are amazing!!!
(4)Joy F.
I came for the Pho. It was my birthday and I brought two other office mates with me who had never had pho before. We ordered the small bowl of Pho - that's more than enough - and they also ordered the summer rolls which are beautiful translucent wrapped shrimps, veggies, and noodles accompanied by a peanut sauce. I ordered lemonade and the vietnamese iced coffee. The Pho was some of the best I'd tried, and I am a longtime Pho fan of Pho 75 (Arlington) and other Pho places. It was hot, full of beefy flavor, onion-y and had some other spices that I couldn't quite identify. We all enjoyed our lunch, and adding the fresh sprigs of basil, slices of peppers, bean sprouts and slices of limes to our soup to personalize it to our taste. This restaurant is lacking in the ambiance dept. You won't be impressed by the strip mall atmosphere. But you'll know something is up when you can't find a place to park, and its really packed for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon when the nearby George Mason University isn't even back in session yet. The food is quite good, prices are low, and you'll be in and out of there in 30 minutes because the service is quick.
(5)R F.
I have gone to this restaurant for years for one reason...the food. I get the same thing every time.. Chicken vermicelli bowl with a summer roll and spring roll instead if two spring rolls. The peanut sauce here is my favorite in this area, wish I could bottle it up and take it home with me! The service lacks a bit of etiquette and charm, but in the end, who cares? They refill my water and bring me the food I love. What more do I really need? Think I'm gonna go grab myself an order of summer rolls now, it is so cravable!
(4)John H.
Good tasting pho. Order the tai and ask for it rare. They leave the meat sitting on the top so you can cook it in the broth to your taste. My kids always order the lemon chicken which taste good too. I agree with other reviewers that it is slightly more expensive than other pho places, but we come here because the broth is good.

Viet House is actually a local chain in the DC area. I'm not sure how many restaurants they have in total, but I have been to two other Viet Houses besides this one. I'm not too knowledgeable about Vietnamese cuisine, but Viet House seems like a solid Vietnamese restaurant to me. I can't really comment on their pho, since pho seems to be a food I cannot eat. I'm not sure what's in it that disagrees with me, but the two times I've had pho, I've ended up with terrible headaches and nausea. So, one of the things I like about Viet House is that they offer other menu items besides pho. My favorite is the grilled chicken. It's very simple, but quite delicious. For not a lot of money, you get a about 4 skewers of grilled chicken, an assortment of fresh vegetables, and a good amount of white rice. Healthy and inexpensive, what a great combination!
(4)Phoebe C.
If you want to go somewhere to grab some quick pho and be out of there in 15 minutes, this is a good place to go. Their soup is warm and the meat is tender, but I wouldn't say their service is as great.
(3)G L.
This is the closest pho place next to my office so this is where we go sometimes. The spring rolls are too greasy and the summer rolls are not as moist. The soup is ok.
(2)Howie H.
This has become our Pho lunch spot for some time now. In the last year we come here at least once a week either a small group of us or a large party from work. The Pho tastes really good and is very consistent here. The lean brisket and meatballs are my favorite and the summer rolls are excellent. My friend always gets their ice coffee which he seems to enjoy a lot. The service is friendly and nice. There are other dishes for those who don't enjoy Pho all the time. It's always busy during lunch, but we always seem to have a table, all in all a very good place for some Pho.
(4)Nicole D.
Rude service. Really, really rude service. For whatever reason the waitstaff really made my husband and I feel unwelcome. And after our appetizer was dropped off, we just wanted to get out of there. The food was also mediocre. We got an order of summer rolls, which were probably the best part of the meal. They had good flavor. We both got the vermicelli. I got mine with chicken and my husband got his with pork. The spring rolls in with the vermicelli were mushy (and not because of the sauce on the dish) and tasteless. The worst Vietnamese spring rolls I have ever had. We were both completely unimpressed. May have gone back if the food were good. Never going back. Would like to rant and rave and swear but would prefer the review to remain visible.

I've ate at this restaurant, ever since day one. This was a great place gone bad. Broth quality has been dromatically washed out. Price has gone up twice, now at over $9 for a large bowl with tax. I will recommand other dish if you goto this restaurant. Their summer roll and spring roll hasn't suffer the same faith as Pho. They are still the best around DC area. Vermacelli bowl is excellent. However, if you are looking for Pho, don't go to this place anymore. You will find planty of cheaper place with better tasting Pho. For the price of $9, you will get lot of water(broth), same amount of noodle as small bowl, pretty much same amount of meat as small bowl. I think the owner needs to wake up and smell his Pho and realize where he is going wrong. I'll recommand Pho Xeller(?) in 7 corner. same price, much better food.
(2)Kenneth L.
Short menu, excellent quality and decent prices too. Soup is the real deal, their rolls are alright, too. There're more other choices on its menu other than pho. However, the service needs improving to match the food.
(3)John F.
This is a very clean and friendly restaurant. The pho is excellent, served hot and steamy with lots of bean sprouts, limes, sliced peppers and basil on the side. Try the summer rolls with dipping sauce, they are fresh and tasty.
(5)Michelle M.
You can definitely tell a change of ownership. This is the place I would take people who had never had pho or thought they had pho. The broth, which is essential to a good bowl or pho, WAS outstanding here. They would give you a bunch of beautiful sprouts and basil. The noodles were so fresh..it WAS a big bowl or yum. The last time I visited (November 2007), I thought I had just hit them on a bad day. Is it me, or did the prices jump? The soup came out, but the meat had already been cooked. That was strange, as traditional pho is served so hot it cooks the paper thin strips of beef as you add condiments. I also had to LOOK for the beef. Usually, I felt overwhelmed by the amount of meat. Not this time. I thought perhaps I got them on a bad day, but not so. I was there today (1/11/08) and was again disappointed. My noodles were stuck to the bottom of my bowl?! The broth didn't loosen them. I had to chisel them out with the chop sticks. For three bowls of soup (my sister and two nine year old kids came with me) they gave us a stingy plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapenos. I was again on the hunt for any meat and when I found it, it was gray and cooked to death. The broth was so salty and there was no taste of anais. It doesn't have the business it used to so there was no line. I guess that's a plus. This place isn't awful, it's just not as good as it once was. That's a real shame because I love a good bowl of pho in the winter. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars, but I can't here. I'm giving it the nod to three stars instead of two because of the memories.
(3)T N.
This is the number one place for PHO! I have not had any other pho as good as this except when I went back to Vietnam. They give generous amount of beef and whatnot and always give extra plates of bean-sprouts and herbs when needed. This place is always packed during lunch hours so sometimes you will have to wait.
(5)Bobbi Rae S.
#1 large review: broth: good depth of meat flavor, but where is the ginger and clove? perhaps too subtle for my tastes, but nothing outstandingly bad about it. i don't feel bad sullying it with sriracha however. noodles: good amount, always perfect texture. meat: paltry portions to be honest, unless you order extra meat on the side. not enough tendon or tripe. the flesh parts are cooked well though, and are nicely thin. veggies - sprouts are always crisp, and the basil is rarely not fresh. perfect plate of accoutrements for ONE person. why they give a single plate for 3 people is beyond me. - - - cha gio: always crispy, hot, fresh. filling is a little too salty sometimes. - - - vinegar-based dipping sauce: subtle, smooth. i prefer a more garlic-heavy sauce, but no real complaints here. lime juice dipping sauce: fresh, very tasty. could use more lime and less fish sauce.

Best 3 bean jello drinks!

This one of our neighborhood favs. It's yummy, filling and perfect for a cold day. $8 for a meal that healthier for you than any of those fast food places.
(4)Mochi K.
This is my personal favorite pho place. I can tell there is msg in the broth but I don't care cause it's so good. The place is small and a bit small. The clientele is mostly Koreans (go figure.) Why I also like this place better than others is that their spring and summer rolls are so yummy.
(4)Matthew C.
Waitress was very nice and attentive. Their food is always consistent in quality.
(4)Crystal C.
3 stars for the food, 1 star for the to go containers. I have a cold so I'm pretty much sans taste but pho is my comfort food. I tried the white meat chicken, the meat is juicy and perfect size for chop sticks. I like that fish oil was included. Make sure you have the correct location, there are 3 in Fairfax. This location is past 123. I will return.
