If you love hibachi, at a good price, then this is a good fit. Friendly, clean and has a nice atmosphere. The "show" is nothing special, but it is priced for a fun family night out.

I want to make it very clear that whoever had uploaded those photos of the sushi selection might've been at a different lunch buffet, cause it clearly wasn't at Samurai. The photos uploaded are extremely misleading with regards to the sushi selection. The sushi selection was comprised of your typical rolls (ie. shrimp tempura, California rolls etc) which by the way tasted like it had been refrigerated the night before. You honestly could get better, if not, the same quality sushi from your local grocery store. There was no nigiri sushi available. The hot food was simply ok. The buffet is $8.95, which in majority of instances is very reasonable, but in Samurai's case, is $8.95 too much. Please save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else for lunch. Their lunch buffet is awful.

GROUPON SCAM ALERT- AVOID This company is willingly taking advantage of groupon users. If anybody else at your communal hibachi table is using a groupon, management will not allow for another bill to use one. Spoke to management and explained that we were not with the other party and had come because of a groupon we had purchased, but this was of no use. The company knows that you will have to come back if they deny your groupon because you have already made the initial groupon investment. Refusing a paying customer's groupon is shameful at best. The food is average and the cooks and wait staff are very pleasant.

It was clean and had room to move around. We sat at the hibachi side of the restaurant. Our guy was ok. He was very goos with my 4 year old son. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. So I would say its a bit pricey considering the food and the show was just alright.

Fun place with great food. Very entertaining meal! The hot meal is definetely the best option eating there. Overall, great eating experience.

I tried this restaurant on a summer Monday evening. There weren't many patrons at 6:00 PM most likely due to normal DC traffic. When we sat down there were 2 other tables in the dining section. The hibachi section had two tables that were already served. By no stretch of the imagination was the restaurant busy. 5 adults, one toddler and one infant were seated immediately at a laminate table made for 4 people forcing my father-in-law to sit in the aisle. The chairs were uncomfortable and tables were small; both the chairs and the tables looked as if they were purchased in bulk from possibly another closed restaurant. We ordered two sushi combo platters and 4 Chinese dishes. 30 mins later Happy Family, fried rice, and beef with broccoli are served. Now I've been to quite a few Chinese restaurants around DC, my favorite being Peking Gourmet Inn. They are the gold standard for a great Chinese restaurant. No matter how busy they are (and they are always busy), their courses are served in the correct order at regular intervals. At Samurai, the Happy Family, fried rice, and beef with broccoli came first at the 30 minute mark followed by the sushi 15 minutes later, and lastly the crispy beef our fourth Chinese dish a little later. Now let's talk about the food. All the Chinese entree portions were laughable. For a entree at $13.00 to $14.00 range at dinner I would expect a charger plate sized plate filled with a generous portion of food. All 4 Chinese dishes were served on square dinner plates and were mostly filled to cover the surface of the plate and no more. The Happy Family was a seafood, chicken, beef, and vegetable dish that had a nondescript and flat taste. The fried rice was standard fried rice, nothing noteworthy. The beef and broccoli was seasoned with pilus (hair) and was immediately sent back. The best dishes of the night were the sushi combo platters and the crispy beef. I wrote this review to highlight the terrible management problems and disregard for customer experience. Chinese food cooks faster than Japanese food. If this restaurant is wants to be successful at pan-asian cuisine look to manage the the time between the two types of cuisine better. Don't skimp on the portion sizes and please keep the food sans pilus. At least buy some Ikea brand chairs and tables; they are inexpensive, look like they belong in a restaurant, and fairly comfortable. Lastly hire more people like my server. She kept a horrible experience from becoming a disastrous one.

This place is great. I've been coming here the past two years with my family. They've had a deal on groupon for $20 for $40 worth of food. The service from the waiters is extremely slow but the chef and food is amazing! Definitely one of my favorite hibachi spots in the area. It's usually not very packed and don't ever have to wait for a hibachi table. Enjoy!

I love this place! It is the best Hibachi I have had in a long time. Every time I travel to Northern VA, I make it a point to eat here. The cooks are so nice and entertaining! And the food is phenomenal.

Service is okay. Quite entertaining atmosphere. Food is so so. Ordered steak and shrimp/steak and scallop w/ fried rice. overcooked, maybe because the chef talked too much. can smell the nasty burn of proteins. seated with other two parties we didn't know. used groupon for Hibachi and it was fine. might come back for fun but not for food.

This place gives me a case of the sads. *loooooooong deeeeeeeeep sigh* We used to come here and it would be packed on a Saturday night. Last Saturday, it was empty. And I see why. We were shown to a hibachi table. I couldn't wait for them to turn on the fire, because it was freeeeeeeeeezing in there! The servers all had on jackets. We waited for a few minutes - I guess they were trying to see if anyone else was coming in. Nope. Just us. The server took our order. Pretty soon, we were given the standard soup and salad. But this wasn't how I remembered it at ALL! The soup was pretty much just salt water. No flavor. The salad was the center part of the lettuce - the bitter part. And it had a dressing that was nowhere near like what they used to serve. The chef who was cooking for us was really nice and since i told him he didn't have to do the whole show for us, we just chatted. That was cool. The yumyum sauce is now yuckyuck. I don't know why they changed it, but it wasn't a change for the good. The meal itself was ok. The prices have gone up. I can't see why. The money certainly didn't go toward quality of anything. So, needless to say, that was my last time ever going there. I feel like prices are rising and quality is dropping and that's just insulting.

  • E Y.

I saw this post from a previous review of this restaurant, and I TOTALLY agree: "The yumyum sauce is now yuckyuck. I don't know why they changed it, but it wasn't a change for the good." We used to LOVE they yum yum sauce at Samurai, but when we ate there this week.....the first think we noticed is the yum yum sauce was...um...yucky! It looks totally different, and its now bright orange, with almost the same consistency and taste of French salad dressing...and it really is YUK YUK. Bring back the good Yum Yum sauce, Samurai!! This change in the sauce alone will make us go elsewhere for Hibachi form now on.

I like the food here, but every single time I try to order to have my food delivered they always say they aren't delivering right now and never can answer specific times when they allow delivery. I even ordered on the delivery website from Yelp and I got a phone call 10 minutes later saying the restaurant isn't delivering and they cancelled my order because the "restaurant was closed", when it was actually open. The delivery fee is a high amount at $5, which I am even willing to pay for convenience, and I don't live that far away. I'm not sure why it's such a problem to simply get food delivered from this restaurant. Don't waste your time with this restaurant if you want delivery.

Stopped in for lunch... They have a small buffet for 9.99. Very little choices however what is there is pretty good. They do offer about 8 different types of sushi and it's pretty good too. Nothing super fantastic about the lunch buffet. It does look like they do the cook at your table type deal and the restaurant is nice and clean. When I'm in area I'd come back.

The food was great. Our chef was funny and playful. We enjoyed our meal. The teriyaki chicken was great. We were able to catch some shrimp in our mouths that was the highlight of our meal. I liked the community type seating, we sat next to a family. It was really fun for the family.

We headed to an impromptu dinner/movie combo Monday night, all three of us starving. Samurai is conveniently located next to the University City Mall Theater. We arrived at 6pm and were going to the 7pm movie showing. When we walked in, and noticed we could sit at either the hibachi grill or a table, we collectively decided we should sit at the hibachi and enjoy a show before the show. The host asked what time our movie was and recommended we sit at a table and have them cook our dinner in the back. Sounded good to us. We ordered the Shrimp and veggie tempura and an order of shumai, then a few moments later ordered our hibachi meals. After a good 30 minutes I asked where our appetizers were, and they brought out a white plate with six little albino looking dumplings, no sauce. Chris took one look at that plate and said, I'm not eating that! The dumplings were soggy, fishy and had zero flavor. They looked just like the shumai you can get from Trader Joes and microwave at home. Then came the soup and salad. A+ for the salad! Fresh and crisp and served with a ginger/peanut combination dressing. The miso soup, D-, cloudy, flavorless and barely bathwater warm, served with a chuck of tofu smaller then my pinky nail. A few moments later they brought out the tempura which I have to admit was really good. Very flavorful and super crispy. That was the highlight of the meal. Immediately after dropping off our Tempura, they came back with our entrees. Ugh... biggest pet peeve while dining out! Do NOT bring appetizers and entrees at the same time! Anyhow... I ordered steak and scallops. Scallops are my most favorite thing ever, even when they aren't stellar I am still pretty happy... however, these were frozen, defrosted and bland. They had no sear on the outside and had an unpleasant fish taste that had been muddled by sitting in defrosting water. The steak, however cooked well, was cold. The carrot/mushroom/zucchini combination was cooked well and flavorful. They rice was okay, not good, not bad, perhaps a bit dry for my taste. Also on the plate was a pile of greasy noodles that I left untouched after the first bite. Everything was luke warm or flat out cold. The ginger sauce was pretty potent and really refreshing but the yum yum sauce was a serious disappointment. I LOVE yum yum sauce. This... was "Ranch dressing with a little coloring added to it." (Illysa's quote!) -ugh. Dinner for the three of us was around $108.00, not including the tip... and all of us still had a plate full of uneaten food. I wasn't impressed. Considering the likes of Sakura in the area, I don't know that I'll be back to Samurai anytime soon.

Okay listen! I only come here with a Groupon deal. The catch is when u come w/ a deal, you MUST sit at a hibachi table. Their sushi is pretty good too. Try not to judge my life, but I definitely enjoy this place. The food is always good. The restaurant can definitely be updated, I won't deny that. The drinks are cheap! I'm talking happy hour prices basically.

Oh dude with a ponytail, this place is awesome was my first thought when I came in which made me laugh I asked my gf where she wanted to go for a special night and they came through for us. Great service. Great atmosphere and John our cook was amazing showman. The time I had with my gf at the hibachi bar, I will never forget. It was a great time. We came in two hours before closing on thanksgiving eve and the people were all cheerful, even playing Christmas music. The food was ok, no where as good as the show by John but was still really good. I liked the steak and rice but didn't like the chicken. The prices are high but I understand why. It's worth it. I will be back

Very disappointed with the food quality, quantity & service of this restaurant. Sushi & hot food could be better. Once the waitress (Michelle) sat me down, she's never once come to ask me if everything was well & if I needed anything else, such as a refill on my green tea. She did come by my table 30 minutes later & brought me my check even though I didn't ask for it. Keep in mind this is a buffet & I not even 1/2 done with my 2nd plate. My waitress has not once smiled at me. If you must eat there, request for Tom to serve you, he's been very attentive with his tables. He smiled & actually talks to his guests.

Maybe just maybe they don't understand Cold plates with hot food = Cold Food, tasteless food, got cold because plates are cold. Nothing special maybe the sushi is good, cause it's cold and so are the plates. Service is ok, but not great, small selection on buffet, not many choices, disappointing. Go somewhere else.

We eat A LOT of asian cuisine and the Japanese Steak place is by far the best. They offer many selections and the quality of food is great. Also the portions are huge so come hungry. Can't wait to go back!

Giving it a 3 out of 5 because Service is a little slow but I enjoyed the habachi and sushi. Food isn't bad. We ordered the combo deals with filet mignon + chicken and filet mignon + shrimp and the Tuna's lovers maki. The habachi was a bit too salty for my taste buds. The tuna maki was amazing though. I'm not a big habachi fan mainly because the show isn't ehhh in my opinion so I came tonight for the food and to use my groupon. Not bad of a place Food 3 out of 5 Service 4 out of 5 Atmosphere 3.5 out of 5

  • Christian K.

Sushi and sashimi were ok. Shrimp tempura was cold. Tuna sashimi seemed like it was frozen. Extremely slow service and we were the only ones there. Also wasn't sure who to leave a tip for as we never had an official waiter.

I don't know why the reviews aren't better. Let me give you a bit of a background. I'm a college student, so being able to enjoy going out all the time isn't really an option because, well, I'd rather pay my tuition. But that's besides the point. I love it here. The staff are great, very kid friendly, and the hibachi menu is adequately priced for what you get. It's affordable as a once-a-month "lets go out and splurge a little bit" as a student. The fried rice is the best in northern Virginia. I really like that they serve noodles with the hibachi entrees as well. I go for dinner typically, however, we went for lunch once, and decided that the portions weren't big enough. Whatever, now we just come at night. I will say this. If you have a groupon, CALL AHEAD AND MAKE A RESERVATION and let them know you have one. It is in the little itty bitty fine print of your groupon. They will not honor it if you don't make a reservation. I never had to deal with that, but one very angry middle aged man sitting next to me was very displeased with this. I say, it's their restaurant and their groupon, it was stated up front when you bought it, those are the rules. All in all, I love this place. I take my parents here when they come, and I take my boyfriend out once in a while. I would recommend it to anyone.

Vegetarians, do not go here. I ordered the Tofu Hibachi Dinner and explained that I was a vegetarian. The next thing the chef does is dump a bunch of scallops all over my food. He then finishes cooking it after he used the same utensils on someone's steak. After all of this, he plops several shrimps on my plate right in the middle of my food. I couldn't eat the tainted food so I gave it to my brother, who said it wasn't that good anyway. I also never got a refill of my drink, which was my only sustenance for the evening. I would have complained to someone there but my boyfriends cousin had an issue and the manager was horribly rude to him so I decided to let it go lest I cause a scene. So much money wasted. I don't recommend this spot.

We bought a Groupon for this location after researching online for some places to eat Hibachi. We arrived on time really expecting to wait for our table but we were ushered right to it with no hold ups. Food quality and chief presentation were pretty good/fun for this type of restaurant. Everything was done well and in a timely fashion, we had a group of 4 so we tried everything and shared it all which is a good idea, it's plenty of food trust me. I will definitely recommend this place the chief was very funny and his presentation was awesome.

Solid time. Great staff. Total bill was $55 brought it down to $15. Left $15 for awesome service and show. Very pleased. My friend and I were going to get our own Groupon as we wanted try their pricier menu items, but we couldn't use two at the same table. Yeah, that sucks. Wish they put that on the Groupon terms. Other than that 5 star experience.

I brought my wife and kids for a family celebration. The place was clean and the service was pretty good. The soup that precedes the meal was not very good. I would have preferred a more flavorful miso soup. The salad and dressing were both fine. The teppanyaki chef did a good job, both in terms of entertainment and cooking our meal. We ordered sushi in addition to the main meal, and it didn't arrive until all our other food was already eaten. If it had been even a minute or two longer, I would have cancelled the sushi portion of the order. Overall we enjoyed our time at Samurai and would return. If the soup were more flavorful and there wasn't such a delay in delivering our sushi, I would have given them a higher rating.

Good service. Somewhat cheesy faux Japanese ambiance. Entirely unremarkable food, both Chinese and sushi. Chinese is cheaper, sushi are about 30% overpriced, and prepared by an authentic Mexican chef, with corresponding results.

My family and I went here for dinner and used a Groupon that saved us $40. We had Hibachi combinations along with sushi. Hibachi Steak & Scallops Combination and Shrimp & Chicken Combination were our main courses. They say that one entree should be for one person, but we had four people and ordered only two entrees and some sushi. Hibachi gives you big portions, so don't let them fool you or you'll be taking home leftovers! (Unless you want to do that.) You get miso soup (it was a little watery) and a salad as an appetizer with your entree. The Rainbow Sushi Special is really good, so I recommend that! The restaurant staff was helpful and very friendly, and the cook was great, minus the time he accidentally spilled some of my boyfriend's beer onto the grill. EEK! Hibachi places are mostly all similar to me but overall the food was pretty good and there was great variety.

  • Minna S.

Went in for the buffet and there wasn't very many options.. all the rolls were basically the same and were soggy. The only thing I really enjoyed was the salad with peanut dressing. There were only a few other food choices like teriyaki chicken and fried vegetables and there was barely any left and they didn't bother to make a fresh batch. I don't think I'll be coming here again...

    (2)
  • Becca H.

We've been here 3 times now and the sushi is consistently high quality. The service can sometimes be slow so take that into account. That being said, we like the food well enough to keep going back here over other sushi places in the area.

  • Courtney S.

This review is for the hibachi: The food was good but way overpriced. My friend had a groupon for $40 for $20 and we still owed $30 at the end... Just for 2 people eating dinner. Also, our waiter was visibly sweating which was kind of off putting. But like I said. The food tasted really good... Scallops were cooked perfectly.

I hate to do this, but I have to give just 1 star to Samurai. My boyfriend, friend and I had the most awful / laughable dining experience here. We still laugh about it. Hard. Let me share my story with you.... A coworker and I used to ALWAYS go to the sushi buffet at this joint before it was Samurai. They had a great selection and it was a great price. The service was not so great, but I could look beyond that because of what a deal it was. So one day, my boyfriend and friend wanted to get the sushi buffet, I told them to come pick me up on my lunch break, and we'll go. Sounds easy enough, right? Not so much. (Let me preface this by saying my coworker and I had gone the week before on a holiday and while the restaurant was open, the sushi buffet was not. We figured that was due to it being a holiday). My boyfriend, friend and I get to the restaurant, and there's no sushi buffet. In fact, it was a different restaurant (apparently it had changed owners and they did away with the buffet). Strike number one. We are seated, and my bf asked for he and I to be on one check, and our friend to be on a separate one. Little did we know this meant that our friend's sushi would be brought out about 15 minutes before ours! He was practically finished eating before we even started. Strike number two. Before the check comes, my friend asked for a glass of water. This will be relevant in another paragraph or so. The waiter drops off the check, and my bf presents a Mastercard and our friend presents a Discover card. Waiter tells us that the Discover cards are not working that day. What? Never heard of this before, but okay. So he presents an AmEx card. Apparently AmEx wasn't working that day either. WHAT? This is bizarre. Whatever, so he finally decides to also use a Mastercard and everybody's happy. Strike number three. Between when the server brings out the check and brings back the copies to be signed, the previously mentioned water arrives. The glass was HALF EMPTY!! (I realize how I chose to word that probably says a lot about my outlook on life... but in this experience, it's only appropriate). All three of us were kind of like "huh? Never seen that before". The only logic we could come up with is that they figured we were leaving soon so he wouldn't need a whole glass of water. It just struck us as really odd, and didn't sit right (for whatever reason) with any of us. Combined with everything else that had been happening, this was definitely strike number FOUR. On the way out, my friend grabbed a mint from the bowl. We're leaving the restaurant and laughing about this experience. We get in to the car and we're still griping about all of this, when from the backseat I hear "This mint is not even mint flavored. It's grape flavored". We all erupted into uncontrollable fits of laughter, but strike FIVE nonetheless. I wish I was making this up. Actually, no I don't because the three of us still get a kick out of this experience. To be fair, the sushi was really good. It was fresh, tasty, and they certainly were generous with the amount of fish they put into each roll. A few weeks after this, my coworker and I went back. Just to see if this was general practice, I ordered a water before leaving and the glass was 100% full when they brought it out. But combined with the service consistently leaving you wanting more, and the story above, I just can't give it anything more than 1 star.

All You Can Eat lunch buffet. Came here even after reading all the mixed reviews about this place. So here are the facts for the buffet only .. Sushi 3/5 sushi was good not great (way better than wegmans) and had a limited verity of rolls, all mostly your basic stuff. But enough satisfy any sushi craving. ..Hot Food 4/5 good when it comes to buffets but again a limited verity mostly of a Chinese type food. ..Service 4/5 good service nice people everyone seemed to be in a good mood and very friendly Now the main reason I gave this place the 5 stars is the VALUE, the buffet was only $13 for good sushi that is a steal! I would even go as far to say that , at that price you can get that and a special sushi roll and still pay under $20 So next time I have a sushi craving and not a lot of cash, I know where I am going

This restaurant sucks at all. My friends and I went there for sushi, but it took us a hour to wait for the sushi to come. It's not like they were busy, there weren't any other customer beside us. I would not recommend people to go there. We're so disappointed.

We had a great time here yesterday with three other couples who are good friends. This place is about the show and spending time laughing and talking in a fun atmosphere. Our at-the-table cook was very witty and fun with all the normal tricks you'd expect at a place like this. But he did it well and we had a great time. The food was good, but not great or I would have given 5 stars instead of 4. But we were happy with the evening and would do this again. I would probably only go here with a group of at least six. Most of the fun is being with your friends or family as they try and catch a piece of shrimp thrown at them by the cook, or watching them jump back when he (purposely) catches the grill on fire. It's a fun time with the right people.

  • Mary T.

We go here fairly regularly. Although we are not Sushi people, we do like their Hibachi grill. We have tried several combos and feel they are quite good. As with most Hibachi tables, they attempt to wait for as full a table as possible. Understanding this, we haven't found the service particularly slow. They do Groupons frequently but limit the number one person can buy in a certain period. However, we have purchased them more than once and it is a good deal. We go back in the interim groupon or not.

I have been to this restaurant several times despite the name changes. I have been disappointed every time. I have only eaten the sushi and not the hibachi. The sushi is medium grade and not worth the price. However, the most frustrating part of the place is the service. We have had the same server each time and he is pretty rude. He seems bothered by the fact that you dared order or even enter the business. I keep returning after each name change in hopes it will change. I will not be back.

We went on a night when everyone was being trained. It took 20 minutes for a chef to come to our table (we originally wanted hibachi) and because of this we moved to the regular dining area. It took 12 minutes for me to get my glass of wine and when my boyfriend ordered a second beer, he never got it and they still tried to charge us for it. Also, my boyfriend is deathly allergic to shrimp and when his meal came out, it was loaded with shrimp although the description did not mention shrimp at all. The only reason I did not give this place one star was because the manager/owner/someone was very apologetic and insisted my boyfriend have something else but he did not want to risk it with his allergy. Also, she was somewhat unprofessional because instead of resolving our issue, she pointed fingers at everyone else. Very disappointing because the food was not great at all either. I had the teryaki chicken and it barely had any sauce on it and the chicken tasted like cardboard. We were very irritated we paid almost $50 for one meal and 2 drinks and had such terrible service. Would not recommend to anyone wanting a quick meal or is craving hibachi because this place will not satisfy.

The bartender here was awesome! I had no idea what I wanted and he made all my drinks. They were all new to me and delicious. I'm so sorry I forgot his name!! He had a cool bow tie though

Mediocre at best. We bought a groupon for this place, and even with that discount, it's still not worth the price. Portion size is really small, noodles were sweet, and the soup tasted like straight chicken bouillon. Only positives: salad dressing and white "yum yum" sauce were good. There are much better hibachi options in the area. You're not missing anything here.

Went here because of the groupon but won't come back again. Server appeared to be a confused person. Told him we were ready to order when he got our drink order. This totally baffled him as he left and didn't come back until we told the host we hadn't ordered. We didn't sit at the teppanyaki show and got our sushi fairly quickly. However, our server then proceeded to give us our check BEFORE we even got rest of our food! Guess he forgot to put the order in. Food prices were higher than the Japanese place we normally go to. Rolls look okay but sushi didn't seem too fresh.

I won't be back. We had to wait a very long time for a cook to arrive at our table. The guy who eventually showed was clearly new and inexperienced. He overcooked almost everything we ordered. The shrimp was hard rubber and practically inedible. The med-rare steak ended up med-well. The rice was burned in spots. The quality of the meats/veggies seemed pretty good so if we had had a better cook, we probably would have had a significantly better experience (which is why I'm giving them 3 stars). Also, the girl bringing us drinks was attentive and friendly.

It's a shame that I have to give two stars because the food was delicious and our chef put on a great show. Service on the other hand, was the absolute worst I have ever experienced in my life. My friends and I were utterly humiliated in front of the entire restaurant, and the staff stared and talked about us in front of customers. I've actually cancelled my Groupon account since this experience. My husband and I drove four and a half hours to visit our friends who live in DC. We decided to each purchase Groupons since we would be paying separately. Upon arriving, we were sat at the same table by the host. When the waitress saw us looking at our Groupons, she told us that we could only use one since "we knew each other and were sitting at the same table" even though we were paying on two separate checks and they're the ones who chose to seat us together. The waitress refused to let us speak with a manager and was very rude. After going back and forth for ten minutes and realizing she wasn't backing down, and not wanting to make a bigger scene, my husband and I agreed to move to another table - on the other side of the dining room - while the entire restaurant stared! After our meals, we noticed that the lady across from us at our new table was using a Groupon too which really upset us further. We had to move away from our friends because (according to the restaurant) two Groupons cannot be used at one table, but now the lady sitting across from us can use hers because she's a stranger to us?! That's still two Groupons being used at one table!!! How does that make any sense? We weren't shocked to find out that the people sitting at our friends table also used their Groupon also. At this point, my friend and I demanded to speak to a manager. He came out and introduced himself and at first seemed very pleasant. We explained the situation to him (which he was already apparently aware of) and told him that we felt we were being treated unfairly. He did nothing, but smirk at us and nod his head. At the end of it all he said, "I'm sorry if that's how you feel.", and left. While this is happening, the ENTIRE staff is not only staring at us, but talking about us right in front of our faces too. Since they had no problem humiliating us in front of the other customers, we had no problem telling the customers exactly what was going on and why we were upset. The customers agreed with us that the restaurant was being unfair by not letting us sit together and use our deal just because we knew each other. We could have went to a Hibachi ten minutes away from our friends home and paid more money (which I wish we would have done, now), but instead drove 40 minutes away because of the great deal we thought we had. Instead, we were humiliated and couldn't enjoy dinner with our friends who we rarely ever see on our last night there. I promptly canceled my Groupon account because of their inability to resolve the issue. I also discourage anyone who is looking to go here thinking they are in for a deal or great customer service. I can understand fully why the reviews are terrible and it's a shame that this review couldn't be 5 stars.

When this place first opened as Cafe Ima it was great. Service was excellent and the sushi was fantastic. I've been here a few times since the name change to Samurai and the previous visit was mediocre and the last time was pretty bad. The Service: We ordered four sushi rolls and one came out as a different roll from what we had ordered. They apologized and took it off the bill and that was really the least of my worries. It was the fact that our waiter disappeared for ten plus minutes so we couldn't tell them the order was wrong once we realized it and my drink went unfilled. It was pretty close to empty when he had made his last appearance. The Food: Diet Coke was kinda flat. You know what helps make a Coke a Coke? The fizziness. If I wanted a flat soda I would have asked for a Pepsi. The sushi was average at best. I've had much better and I've had better at this place. Side note: Several few months ago I came here and had hibachi and it was pretty typical/average. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. I hate when places I really like go downhill or close. I miss Cafe Ima.

We have gone here before and use the Groupon with no problem. Today when our meal was over we attempted to use a Groupon again and we're not allowed. It turns out that somebody else at the table was using a Groupon too. We didn't know this guy, but we're told only one Groupon per table. I find this ridiculous! We will not be returning.

Very disappointing. We went for the lunch buffet and they only had a few low-quality sushi rolls and old-bad tasting hot food available.

I don't know why the reviews here are so mixed... my friend and I ate here on wednesday night around 8 and it was a little dead but we weren't really worried. My friend ordered the filet and chicken and I ordered the chicken. Let me say before I continue that I lived in japan, having said that, the food was fine- it was good. Our service, unlike many, was very good. Our server was friendly and fast and our chef was entertaining and fun. Our salads were good and the miso soup was so-so. But the main course was really quite big AND we got shrimp and noodles too. :) We also got an avacado salad which was fine. All in all I really enjoyed this place, other than the miso soup everything was really good. To me it didn't taste too salty.

This place would have gotten 4 stars if I had written this review after the first time we dined here. This experience was pretty bad. We decided to get hibachi without "the show" which turned out to be a huge mistake. Our food was completely cold when it arrived. We sent it back only for it to returned on a smaller plate (make it look like there was more food to hide what we had eaten) and it tasted like it had been microwaved. We ate it because we were starving although we should have just left. We complained again and the waiter said "nothing could be done" and he really didn't seem like he cared. While I never expect a free meal, 5-10% off would have been a nice gesture or a free dessert. I will say this - their food is decent if you get the hibachi with "the show". Not sure if we will be willing to give this place another chance though.

I loved coming here! At first i thought since I had a groupon, they were going to treat me like whatever, but I was wrong. Our server and the chef doing the cooking show were excellent. It was fun, and the food was delicious. We came at the perfect time (right before closing) so we got front row seats to the show rather than on the side of the table since there were no more customers . We got a small soup bowl and a small salad complimentary to start and then the show started. The guy was funny and did an outstanding show for us. Our server stopped by to check on us on a timmely manner and he was also great. I also got the california roll sushi which was delicious. we ended up getting boxes because it was a lot of yummy food that could not go to waste! The groupon was good for 40$ and we only had to pay 25$ plus tip of course. i will come back to Samurai and i recommend everyone to go and hope that you get the experience I got. We ordered the filet mignon and chicken combination, and the new york steak and shrimp combination, both delicious.

This is a fine restaurant when you're looking for the "theater with a meal" and want something much better than the dinner theater buffet. Samurai is hidden away in this little strip mall near George Mason University and is (IMHO) the best choice for dinner if you're heading to a movie in the same shopping center. We tried the filet and chicken. The food was cooked nicely, our chef was entertaining (and carefully held the salt on our request), and several people at the table were interesting. Overall, a nice evening. Service was a bit confused, but everyone was there to help. All things considered this is a competent Japanese (theatre) steak house. With a Groupon, its is quite affordable. Without the Groupon, ya' gotta really want the skilled knife play of the chef (but then why go to a Japanese steak house if you're not a fan of the cooking theater)?

I saw them being built and have wanted to go for a while. I love hibachi. I have been to 6 different hibachi restaurants. I bought the group on for this place. This was disappointing. The rice and veggies were under cooked and the food was bland. We ordered appetizers early while the table was being sat and they did not arrive until the cook had started, after the soup and salad. We told the waitress we didn't want them but she brought them any way. There were dirty plates beside me the entire meal. There were 4 glasses that stayed empty the entire meal. My husband and I got sick from the food that evening. I would have given 2 or 3 stars but restaurants that serve food poisoning and cross contamination get 1 star.

I decided to take my mom out to lunch here. The sushi was very good. As for the hibachi - I asked for medium rare received a VERY well-done. However, the cook was very friendly and engaging so I didn't bother complaining. My mom's set was done just right. Perhaps it was just the time of the day I visited but I was pretty disappointed a the service. A slow time of the day definitely does not justify why the staff members should openly be moping around in the back, just hanging out and not attending to their customers. The waitress that served us only came to sit us down then to pick up our payment. The location is very convenient for me as it's across the street from my campus and 15 minutes away from home. However, I don't think I will be returning until I hear of improvements in their services.

I've eaten here several times over the last few years, both the lunch buffet and hibachi grill for dinner. Dinner is always very consistently good. The different chefs put on slightly different shows, and some are more energetic than others, but we always enjoy the entertainment. Prices are a bit high but include miso soup and salad, so overall not bad. I agree with other reviewers that soup is lacking in flavor, but I've never had miso with a lot of flavor anywhere. The salad always comes with a puddle of water at the bottom of it, which dilutes the otherwise good dressing so it runs off of the lettuce. It should be drained in the kitchen before the dressing is added. At a dinner last week they seem to have resolved the "one Groupon per table" issue because we were allowed to use one even though another couple at our table also had one, so no unpleasantness there. We all enjoyed the evening and the food and left feeling comfortably full. Lunch buffet is also generally good, despite the limited number of hot offerings. There is a good variety of sushi choices, but I'm no sushi expert, so I'll defer to others' judgement as to how good they are. They all tasted fine to me. I always wonder why there aren't more people here for the buffet, because it is a pretty good value, and with so many George Mason students in the area, I'd think more of them would be filling up for the day for the price.

This is a review of the sushi lunch buffet and not the hibachi. Blech. Ick. Never again. Their sushi chef has no idea what he's doing. Big fish, little rice - that is the goal in a reputable sushi spot. Nigiri: Salmon - The teeny piece salmon was shredded to pieces and twisted up and piled on as an afterthought to an enormous wad of rice. Eel - so dry it looked like a cat tongue. There was a platter of completely unrecognizable fish that looked like salt cured duck. I later saw them bring out their "fresh" sushi from a vacuum sealed plastic pack. Who knows if it was frozen. The miso soup tasted like dish detergent smells. One bite and no more. The waitress, in an attempt to provide good customer service, brought a freshly made platter of salmon nigiri to our table and asked if we wanted some before it was taken to the buffet. She didn't have any tongs with her so clearly, she would have been fine with us using our used chop sticks to help ourselves off a platter that was making its way to a buffet. Disgusting! We declined. Not a place for sushi lovers (although, I have heard the hibachi is good).

I love habachi! So when I saw a groupon deal, I had to get it and try this place! The food was terrible and the service is just ok. The miso soup taste like boil water with those ramen msg dumped in it. Also, it doesn't matter if you request well done, medium, or medium rare for your steak, you'll end up with well done steak. Our habachi chef also gave this poor kid's chicken to the wrong person, TWICE!

Groupon Review: We recently purchased a $15 groupon for $30 towards hibachi dinner, essentially making one dinner free. Reservations are required with the groupon which likely means you will be seated with other groups, and may have to wait for the other parties to show up before cooking begins. We were a party of four with another party of 5 seated with us as well. Service was okay; our server took a while to get the drink order out, and I'm talking water and fountain drinks, not complicated or bar orders. Refills were also a little slow, but I noticed this was not the case at other stations. I think was more a reflection of this particular young man and not a generalization of the entire staff. The food itself... The soup was better than some of the other hibachi places I've tried, and the dressing on the salad (okay, really?? If you call a bowl of wet iceberg lettuce a salad..) was pretty sweet and tangy, but there was so much water on the lettuce, it quickly got watered down. But you don't really come to a hibachi for the soup and salad, do you? I read some reviews about things being too salty, and as someone who doesn't use a lot of salt, I was concerned, but I think they've read the reviews because things seemed a little under seasoned. The fried rice was pretty bland, but the portion was huge! Salmon, scallops, shrimp, and filet were all pretty tasty. Ask for meats slightly more rare than you would normally. I asked for med rare, and got a pretty good medium. The teriyaki chicken looked and smelled great, but again was pretty under-seasoned. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I've had better. Prices are pretty consistent with what you'd expect and the groupon deal is a nice bonus. It's probably not a place I'd seek out again, but not a place I'd avoid either.

I bought a Groupon for hibachi at Samurai before reading the Yelp reviews. I was a little nervous based on some of the reviews that I may have made a mistake, but it made for a good date night with my wife. Honestly, I don't know why this place only has three stars. The food was good, the portions were large, and the chef was very entertaining. My wife and I started with cocktails (she had the geisha and I had the ex-girlfriend) which were good but fairly weak. As an appetizer, I ordered a Philadelphia roll which was pretty good (if you really want good sushi, try Todai in Fair Oaks). For dinner, I had the shrimp and chicken, and my wife had the steak and chicken, all of which came with miso soup, salad, fried rice, hibachi vegetables and noodles. Have I had better hibachi? Yes, but I also paid considerably more for it too. All in all, this is a good place to go, especially if you can pick up one of the groupons.

I heard about Samurai through Groupon, and I am sure glad that deal was purchased! I visited on a Friday evening around 8pm, there were only a few other couples in the restaurant, so it was a very quaint and quiet atmosphere. The servers were nice and very attentive! Chef James was engaging in conversation, friendly and put on a great show! The food was delicious and well-cooked. I will definitely be back, and bringing some friends along for the experience!

This is a great place IF you get the right chef. I always reserve and request for TIM. He's the head hibachi chef, who does a fabulous job and presentation is awesome too. Make sure to check out Groupon for savings for this location

We went because my wife got us a Groupon deal ($60 for $30) for four of us. I'm not a fan of Teppan Yaki style of Japanese cooking, and it's more show than a food experience. Saturday evening at 7pm, tne place was hopping back in the teppan yaki tables. The main dining room looked pretty deserted, and a few customers were dining at the sushi bar. We were seated right away and our orders taken. Soup and salad soon came out and the show as on. Our cook was okay. He tried hard and gave us a little show before proceeding to cook the rice and noodles, and then the veggies and meats. My main complaint is that most everything was oversalted, with overuse of soy sauce. For me, with high blood pressure, that's something I should avoid. The steak, while the chef asked if we were okay with medium, came out well cooked. Everything tasted okay, with nothing really negative. All in all, it was an okay meal. I think the place was busy because most of the customers came with Groupon coupons. Everyone at our table had one when the checks came. Without the groupon, I would not bother with this place as I'm not a fan of the type of cooking, much prefering simple sushi or ramen if I wanted Japanese. The service was good, as the waitress was quite attentive; and the chef was trying hard to put on a good experience for all of us, so I can't really complain much. If you want to try teppan yaki without blowing your budget at more expensive places, this is a pretty good choice if you can get a discount.

Compare to other hibachi places, Samurai is sub par for certain. I'm Asian and I like salty food. But this place is WAY too salty. The steak, fried rice, soup are all too salty. Even the sushi is too heavy flavored. I've been here four times and and always have to drink 3 cups of water every time. I've gave this place 4 tries and I've decided to not come here anymore. The second and third time I came the service is average, not good or bad. However, the first and fourth time service was terrible. I always come here as a Groupon user, and I expected to be treated equally as other paying customer. But I was wrong. It's clear the attitude from waiters are different. The last time we went, there was even drama about how we cannot use groupon because we wanted to eat both sushi and hibachi sitting at the hibachi table. I'm done with this place

  • Brenna H.

I ate the hibachi, didn't get any sushi. I've been here a few times and always had about the same experience. The waitress was very attentive and the chef was wonderful again (I have someone different every time I go). The soup they give you is not my favorite, but I don't like salty things typically. I ordered hot tea because I'm not terribly picky, but it was terrible! I forgot to ask what it was, but if you're a tea lover like me check what their tea is before you order it because I will not be getting it again. I love their salads and hibachi though! People seem to complain about the price, but you're not paying for just the food when you get hibachi, you're also paying for the experience of a hibachi restaurant. I felt like I got exactly what I paid for and it was a wonderfully served dinner.

This restaurant and their conniving attempt to trick people into the store using Groupon is a total scam. What a horrible experience. My wife and I met up with my parents while in town who also purchased a Groupon. We were on separate checks. Simply because we spoke with them, we were not allowed to use our Groupon. We made friends with people at the table too - maybe they shouldn't be allowed to use their groupon either! The rude waiter had the audacity to suggest we could switch to another table and then we could use our Groupon! I would expect better customer service from a used car lot, let alone a place people might actually want to go for dinner. I wish it was possible to leave negative stars.

This review is for the Hibachi. Have to admit I was a little scared b/c I didn't check yelp before making reservations & this place seems to have lots of bad reviews, but The service was on the good side, we were seated promptly no complaints there! The food was great as well for the price (groupon 20=40 make sure you read the rules and details) we order the filet mignon ($25) and newyork steak ($23) they were good portions. The chef John was great he remembered how everyone wanted their steak so that was a plus. The only complaint I have was for the complimentary "miso soup" and salad that comes with the meal. The soup was chicken broth with *a* mushroom inside (just skip it) The fried rice was the best I've ever had. We will be returning but with a bigger party next time.

Meh. My kid attends George Mason so I was hoping this would be a winner but it wasn't. I ordered the hibachi (steak and scallops) without the show (big mistake), steak medium rare. The food when it arrived on the plate didn't look very appetizing. I agree with a previous poster that I think the "without the shows" are microwaved and made up of whatever they have in the back. The scallops were raw in the middle so I didn't finish them. For some reason I received four scattered small shrimp (in lieu of scallops?). The steak was in cube form and looked like it had been sitting. Other hibachis I have attended use strips of steak. It was not hot. I also ordered California roll to go and was disappointed when daughter said it was all cucumber with little or no avocado. I realize that avocado is expensive but I didn't have a groupon so this was an expensive meal. Service, however, was excellent.

Great food and show! "Honda Acura" aka Tim cooked us some excellent food while putting on a great show. I saw at least 2-3 new tricks I had never seen at Hibachi before. And his fried rice is the best I've had. He has a secret ingredient, so check it out! Sushi was great too. Service excellent. The only thing I'd comment on is that it didn't feel like they had the heat on, and it was snowing outside! Brrr. Tim advised they had only been open three months, so pretty great for being open such a short time. Overall, worth it! Food was even great reheated the next day!

We went into Samurai only because we had a Groupon for the restaurant and for the ice rink just down the road and were making a date night out of it. I have been to many Hibachi restaurants before, but it my fiancee's first time. We both had a great time. The server was nice and attentive. The chef was very fun and entertaining. The food was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. It was the first time I had ever used Groupon, so I was a little unsure of using it, but there was no problem in using it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I stopped at Samurai for a late sushi dinner tonight on our way home. We had been to this place once before when it was called IMA and thought it was ok. We were promptly greeted and seated, but one look at our table cloth and we realized we should've walked out. The table cloth had multiple stains, strands of hair, and leftover crumbs from previous customers. We overlooked this because we were hungry and just wanted to eat. Our server was attentive and friendly. We asked for two drinks and an order of gyoza to start. While we were waiting, our server brought us complimentary miso soup. So far, everything (except the table cloth) seemed ok. My wife and I each ordered two sushi rolls. My California roll and salmon roll came out as expected. My wife's order - not so much. She ordered an avocado roll and a yellowtail roll. The avocado roll was ok, but it was clear that the yellowtail roll wasn't. We are not sushi masters, but we've eaten enough yellowtail to know what yellowtail should look and taste like. The fish looked gray-ish/brown. My wife reluctantly started eating one piece and had to go to the restroom to spit it out. She said whatever the fish was, it tasted off. Our server noticed we were not eating the "yellowtail" roll, and asked us what was wrong. We mentioned that the yellowtail looked off, and he mentioned that it did and that it didn't even look like yellowtail. He took the sushi back to have someone look into it. We never heard back from him what it was - bad yellowtail or some other kind of fish entirely. He was apologetic and said he would take it off our bill, and when another group of customers came in to order sushi, he said the sushi bar had just been closed. Hmm... So now we're ready to pay the bill and leave, when our server comes up to us and says that our ticket got thrown away and he needs to ask us what we ordered again so he can ring it up. We repeat our order to him as he writes it down. Our server comes back with a new bill, we wait for the credit card receipt, pay, and then leave. Not once did a manager come out and explain the mystery fish. We didn't understand why the sushi chef would make something that was supposed to be yellowtail, when clearly it wasn't, and why it would be served to us when anyone could see that it wasn't what we ordered. Far more concerning is that raw fish has strict guidelines when it comes to storage and handling, and it's not something we like to take chances on with our health. Despite a friendly server, this was our first and last experience at Samurai.

We had your wait to be seated, then once we were sat (with no place settings), no one came to take our order for 10 minutes. When that finally happened, it was very clearly a bus boy with little to know knowledge of the menu. I was told I couldn't order what i wanted. I will not be returning.

My boyfriend and I tried this place out because of the Yelp.com coupon that allows you to purchase a $40 value voucher for $20. When we went to the restaurant, it was very clean and well-decorated and the staff were incredibly friendly and courteous. :) Like most Hibachi restaurants, you sometimes may have to wait 10 minutes before they take your order because they have to wait for the grill/table to fill up with multiple parties. We had to wait closer to 15 minutes because the dinner rush hadn't started yet but went ahead and ordered appetizers and drinks to hold us over until the table was filled. The staff apologized for the wait and even comped us one of our appetizers (the edamame, which is reaaally good by the way!) Everything about the food and service was above my expectations. The sushi (we got the Samurai roll and Shrimp tempura roll) was great quality, fresh, and the portions were much bigger than expected! As for the hibachi meals, they give you rice, noodles, veggies, and your choice of meat, and a 2 pc. shrimp appetizer, with a soup and salad side. (Most places only give you noodles OR rice, not usually both, not to mention the portions were generous as well so that was very nice to see). Instead of miso soup, they served (i think its called shoryu soup) which has onion broth, scallions, and mushrooms - while different it was still served hot and was satisfying like the miso soup you'd usually get at other hibachi places. Everything was served wonderfully, had great texture and flavor, and the chef put on a great show! (Of course it had the classic tricks like the train/volcano onions, the huge flames of fire from the grill, the "Egg" roll, and the chef had a couple of unique tricks up his own sleeve too). All in all with the coupon we paid around $30 for over $50 worth of food. The other customers we sat with were also very nice so that helped for the atmosphere! :) Either way we would DEFINITELY come back again, even without a coupon. The prices are pretty fair, the only suggestion I'd have is for them to expand their sushi menu a bit more (selections are plenty, but compared to other sushi bars in NoVA, they could add more to it I think).

This was our first time eating here and we had an excellent time! The food was cooked perfectly and our chef, Khoi, put on a great show. We've been to quite a few Japanese steakhouses and I've got to say that he put on one of the best presentations. We would highly recommend this place!

Took my grandparents here for their first hibachi experience. Our host and chef were both very good. I had a groupon ($20 for $40 worth off food) which brought down the cost significantly. We had the tofu, teriyaki chicken, and scallops/lobster/filet dinners. A little busy with all the construction outside but nice atmosphere inside.

The service was good although the waitress doesn't smile much. She knew when my glass is empty and refill with hot tea right away. The chef who cooked the Hibachi is very attentive and a funny guy. I had Filet and Scallops and my friend had Filet with Shrimp. You can taste both seafood and beef are very fresh, but the beef is slightly overcooked. The Filet is at least medium than medium rare that we ordered. Maybe I should rare instead next time.

Had a late dinner (around 9p) on a Friday night. The place was absolutely dead (2 other couples total) which made me worry. That concern was quickly resolved. The service was quick and friendly. They brought a complimentary bowl of Edamame as we reviewed the menu. We decided for hibachi even though we were the only people at the table. The chef was friendly and engaging...got the standard hibachi show. After choosing fried rice with our entrees (Chicken/Shrimp and Filet/Shrimp), the chef made sides of noodles for us as well. The proteins were great and we were stuffed after dinner. Will definitely be back...

The food is decent, but I am giving it a one star because they were deceitful during our visit. We had a coupon for buy one, get one free from them. We ordered two regular hibachi entres and one kids hibachi, and they only deducted the kids hibachi. The experience was decent until then, the food was fresh, cook and wait staff friendly, but left with a bad taste because of their deceit with their coupon. I guess the next time we feel like Hibachi we will be driving to the one at the Worldgate in Herndon again! UPDATE: I was contacted by the restaurant manager apologizing that this was a mistake and they have informed the servers not to do this again. So, bumping the stars up by one. He even offered a discount on the next visit.

If it wasn't for my 9 year old daughter who loves the cooking action, I would never set foot in this joint. I've gone about 4 times. When seated, the tables are sticky. When you look up, you see splatter marks down the walls. The floors are filthy. The food is so over salted that I gag. The soup literally tastes like hot water and a chicken boullion cube with ONE shriveled mushroom floating. On my third visit, I asked the waitress for CA rolls with NO roe. I said it three times. She brings me sushi at dinner (forgot about the appetizer) and it had roe. She argued with me about taking it. Almost each visit I have to ask for water. Good comments? The chefs are nice and they know their drills. I haven't gotten sick yet.

The service was okay. We didn't have to wait long before a girl came to our table for our drink order. She was very nice and the drinks came out fast. Then she took out order. After person told her their choice she'd say,"Fried Rice?" We each said yes as the Fried rice is part of the show and we didn't want steamed rice. After about 20 minutes our chef came out. He was very inexperienced. He didn't do any of the tricks, No egg spinning or flipping, no tossing of the chicken or shrimp. The volcano leaked all over the Hibachi and it took him a while to even assemble the rings. He was cutting all the food in half to check whether it was done inside. Kind of a let down. We all ordered shrimp and he painstaking counted each shrimp with his spatula before putting it onto each plate. By the time he got around to me they were over done. Then, he has 8 left. Instead of passing them out he put them back on his tray and tossed it under his cart. Someone said, "Hey give em to us," To which he replied, "No, you only get 8 pieces each." We all joked about it after he left. Why wouldn't he give them out? They were already cooked? What did he plan on doing with them? As three sets of strangers we all found it odd enough to talk to each other about it. In reading other reviews I see other people got a 2 shrimp appetizer with their meal. We didn't, which would explain the "extra" shrimp. Then we get our check. They charged everyone at the table $2.00 extra for fried rice! Who charges extra for the rice! Our entrees were $25.95 and our beers were $7.95! Now they charge extra for the rice! Maybe they justify it because now it seems you get a sloppy spatula full of noodles with your meal. Anyway, I'll never go back and it was dishonest not to mention the up-charge. The sushi was cheap, but I've had better Sushi at Trader Joe's

It was nothing special. I ordered hibachi chicken and shrimp. The meat had no flavor. The noodles, rice, and vegetables were good. The waitress was great. No real complaints. I would take my children there again.

This place was huge and clean. Our family has been there about three times. Their chefs seemed so friendly. Our family's favorite chef is Tim, and he was very entertaining. Also, he served very good fried rice and vegetables.

I went here a couple times when it was Cafe Ima and twice now since they changed the name (again) to Samurai. I wonder if it's because of the poor reviews that they keep changing the name. I've only had the sushi, never sat on the hibachi side. Every time I've gone we've been the only ones on the sushi side, and I'm talking 7:00 on a Friday night. The sushi isn't bad, it's actually pretty good compared to other sushi restaurants around here. The service, however, is pretty much non existent. I don't think they've ever got our order right, but it wasn't bad enough that I decided not to go back again. That changed last week. My teenage son and I went on a Sunday afternoon. It took forever for the woman to take our order, we had been sitting there for at least fifteen minutes after a young man took our drink orders before a woman came to the table and took the rest of the order. We ordered miso soup and salad, shrimp tempura as an appetizer, and 5 rolls between us. She brought out the miso and salad, then it was about 25 minutes later when she brought out the two rolls I ordered for myself. I asked about the appetizer which we still hadn't received, and that came another 10 minutes later. So we're sitting there waiting and waiting for my son's rolls to come out, and finally she comes back after FOREVER so we ask about his rolls. I can't understand a thing she's saying, then there's all kinds of drama going on with her and the sushi chef. So a while after that she brings him a single roll that he didn't order. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't anything like a tuna roll, cali roll, or philly roll that he ordered (it looked good, but he's new to sushi and easing into it with the simpler rolls). Then she brings our check. So I guess that's it? He gets one roll and the appetizer? We gave up, paid, and I stopped to get him a burger on the way home. When we got home I was telling my daughter about it and her only response was "is that the place that didn't ever bring me my octopus"? I had forgotten that the last time we were there my daughter didn't get her order either. I doubt we'll be going back.
