Welllll, because bagel buddies exists, I never need to use stomach space on bagels when I go to NYC. And, since there are so many things to eat in NYC, this makes me thankful. Personally, I love the onion bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese. I also love all the people that work there. It's great. That's all you need to know.

Stopped by here on my way to work one day to grab some food and coffee. The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich (on an everything bagel) I got was tasty. The iced coffee, however, tasted super, super watered down. I get iced coffee from places very frequently and this was among the worst I've ever had. I will probably be back for another bagel- I'd like to try their cream cheese next time- but will stay clear of their coffee drinks.

Bagel Buddies was a disappointment. We came on a Saturday morning, so we expected the line to be long. There were tenish people ahead of us, and we thought the wait would be okay - it ended up taking a very long time to place our order. There were only three girls working behind the counter and two of the girls were making the sandwiches. When it was our turn to order, I decided to get the Long Island (one of the more expensive sandwiches), which is basically lox, cream cheese, and tomato on a supreme bagel. My brother ordered two bagels: a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and the Bronx sandwich on an everything bagel. We ended up taking our order to-go. When we got home, we noticed there were only two bagels in our bag. I immediately called the store to notify them, and the manager was very nice about it. My brother then opened his packaged bagel and saw that they had actually COMBINED his two orders into the Bronx on plain bagel WITH strawberry cream cheese. We had a pretty good laugh out of it, because it was SO gross. It was ultimately, I guess, our fault for not checking the bag before we left, but I definitely did not expect this silly mistake from the workers. Strawberry cream cheese with the ham, turkey, bacon, American cheese, and mayo?? Ew. Anyways, I also could barely eat half of my bagel. The bagel itself was hard and tasted stale and they barely gave any salmon. The iced spiced chai latte was really good, but I probably won't be coming back for it.

Unless you absolutely craving a bagel with a pound of cream cheese...I would recommend choosing a different location to grab lunch. For starters the kid behind the counter making the sandwiches told us that the wrap was corn when in fact was flour. The cash register was broken and the girl behind the cash register asked me to "take a picture of my computer screen to get a receipt". The ice machine was broken and they were running in the back to get ice in a pitcher and asked their patrons to "scoop it out"... And when they brought our food out 15 minutes later it was over filled with cream cheese and literally 2 Slices of turkey meat in the wrap. It was horrible! Bagel sandwich was ok, lacking flavor.

Oh Bagel Buddies how you never disappoint. This bagel hot spot of the Chantilly/Fairfax area seems to always have steady business and I can definitely understand why. I mean really, who doesn't love a good bagel? I popped by Bagel Buddies while visiting home and ordered one of my favorite combinations, granola bagel with strawberry cream cheese. One of the best things about this place is the variety of bagels. They have your classics: everything, onion, plain, sesame, etc but then they get deliciously creative and have granola, french toast, whole wheat everything and more. To pair with these great bagels they offer various types of cream cheese and sandwich options. The strawberry cream cheese is one of my favorites because it has chunks of real strawberries in it! Overall, if you are looking for a good bagel place that isn't one of the popular chains, Bagel Buddies should be on your list!

Stopped in Bagel Buddies while in Fairfax. The bagels were really good. Got two everything bagels with Cream Cheese and one with lox. The lady behind the counter said she would bring it out to me. Shortly after sitting down she was at our table with our order. At 11:30 AM they had every kind of bagel ready for the choosing. We even washed them down with Yoo-hoos! Will defiantly be back when I'm in Fairfax. Now the best part: the kids were watching a guy make the bagels over the counter. The lady working asked them if they would like to watch the bagels being made. They went back into the kitchen and watched. It really made there day!
(5)Matthew S.
Great bagels! Still looking for that great NY/NJ style bagel bakery, but this one did a great job! The bagels were extremely fresh and the spreads were very good (the cream cheese and lox spread was a bit thick but very good!) Prices were exceptionally high but I guess that's what happens with the two spreads. I was tempted to try Virginia Bagel, but that place sounded too nasty on the phone. I shall try John's Bagel Bakery next to see how things compare; but for now, this one was a great fit!
(4)Demetry P.
Homemade delicious bagels. Been a customer for years and will continue. Absolutely love the selection of sandwiches.
(5)Kristina P.
I've been searching the NoVa area for a bagel place that reminds me of Long Island bagels. My boyfriend calls me a bagel elitist! It's true! I went to Bagel Buddies today and told them that I heard their bagels are close to LI bagels. I got a basic plain bagel with cream cheese. Bagel Buddies did not disappoint! The bagel was soft and had that sweet yet salty taste. Yum! There was a good amount of cream cheese on it as well. Good job, girls! This LI Bagel Elitist is happy and will be back! I can't wait to try their sandwiches!
(5)Athena W.
I was becoming hangry this am, so my friend dropped me off while she went into micheals. I was ecstatic when I saw they had lox, my fav. The bagels are huge, cream cheese is amazing. AND they have coke zero. #boom. The employees were super friendly, and they place is cute and clean. When I come back into town, I will deff be hitting buddies back up!
(5)Mark S.
I wouldn't use this bagel place. The selection is not great. The service is slow and not customer friendly. The guy didn't even toast my bagels and too so long putting cream cheese on I felt like I should just do it myself.
(1)Crystal C.
Order: long island burger on a toasted supreme bagel. Sometimes coffee, other times tea. I had the Manhattan crab vegetable once, and man am I ready for it to return. I don't think the manager guy is grumpy, he is efficient. I'd be just like him if I kept the hours he does. People get so sensitive in Fairfax about someone not being nice. It's a bagel shop, you order, you pay, you eat. Why does it need to be a candle lit experience? They recently updated the register so they are still getting used to it so if the line is longer than you can tolerate, call in. My order is consistently correct and delicious. I have to keep the visits to a maximum 2 per week bc I would go 5 and that would be a carb filled disaster.
(5)Elise F.
Delicious "puffy" big bagels. My father in law was visiting and wanted an everything bagel. It's supreme here. There was a big selection and I got both savory and sweet bagels. Some were still warm when I brought them home. The jalopeno cheddar was my favorite. At 8 am on a summer weekday morning, I was the only one there for a few minutes. The staff was friendly. Other customers came in and were ordering breakfast sandwiches. Maybe next time.
(5)Seeta A.
I go there often , I regularly order spiced chai latte , love it , I'm surprised on how many negative reviews on the owner, I found him to be very nice and friendly , he might look otherwise but he is nice !! He is easy to talk to , I like coming here !! And yes !! The place need to get updated !
(4)Kino A.
I wan't really impressed by their bagel sandwich here. Their bagel is pretty standard but they do have a variety. I ordered a double egg with muenster cheese. The egg is microwaved so it was pretty dry. The cheese was lacking. I maybe had half a cheese in it. I did buy their homemade artichoke cream cheese dip. It was decent. Definitely creamy.
(2)Bella H.
Not bad but not very good. It was pretty basic, nothing special and not much flavor. It was fresh and piping hot but was so bland and uninspiring that I would likely not go back. Too bad cause good bagels are hard to come by.
(2)john h.
Inconsistent Bagels, Slow Lines, Curt and Grumpy Mgt, No Readable Receipts for purchases......we won't be back!!!!
(2)Jenn C.
Excellent service. Really cool mom and pop type sandwich place. Bagels are made in the store and are pretty good. I loved my vanilla spiced chai tea. Definitely a great bagel and sandwich place. The only negative thing I could say is that it is need of a decor update. But that kind of adds to the charm....
(4)Lynda F.
I go there all the time and it is a regular stop for the kids after swim practice! The owner created a special sandwich for her sons swim team and it is amazing.. even made a veggie villain for me! Totally family owned and operated and generous with the spread of cream cheese..try the new olive and pamento! Owners are wonderful and even give tours to schools and scouts. Anyone who has anything bad to say about this place has serious issues! Bagel Buddies ROCKS!
(5)Abby E.
The bagel sandwiches here are awesome. However, they are pretty pricy for what they are. The guy who works here isn't overly friendly, but the food always comes out quickly. They seem to cater to their regulars. One time we were waiting in line and a "regular" walked in, and the guy working let him jump the line ahead of us. This was pretty annoying, but we keep coming back because the food really is good!
(3)Angel S.
Bagels are delicious! They are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The line is terrible on weekend mornings but if you call ahead, it's faster. The bagels freeze well, too.
(4)Sharon L.
Best bagels in the area. Really enjoyed the selections. Would stat away from their egg sandwiches as they seem off.
(4)Amira N.
A small mom and pop business in fair lakes shopping center. Bagels are huge and quite affordable for the price. They're tasty and chewy, much tastier compared to other chains. Their rugelach is a must try, very delicious. I've tried their egg and bacon bagels breakfast sandwich and they are incredibly fresh, made to order. The decor is quite lacking but hey, for some good old bagel and a hot breakfast that don't bream the bank, come here, enjoy the food and support this mom and pop business.
(5)Rachit B.
A little disappointing... Got an Egg and Cream Cheese on a Bagel. Expected the egg to be fresh but it was the frozen microwave kind. That just ruined the entire sandwich. They'd be better served not offering egg at all. Bagel and the cream cheese itself weren't bad but not particularly noteworthy. Check out Main Street Bagel instead.
(2)Mary Y.
I'm from New York, I'm very particular about bagels. Bagel Buddies comes darn close. I've yet to find that NY bagel. When I visit my Dad, ( I get a bunch from Utopia Bagels in Queens when I visit. Check them out if you're near) but I digress. I went in yesterday to try these as the reviews seemed good. They were right. Nice crunch on the sesame bagel I got. Bagels must be boiled first, then baked. BB does this. These are good size bagels with a good chew to it. I will be back to get my morning indulgence, a bacon, egg & cheese on a everything bagel. I have no doubt it will be quite tasty. The girl at the register was very friendly, as was the lady who took my order. You can't get a real NY bagel here in NoVA, BUT you can get a very very close bagel at Bagel Buddies. I recommend it to all my mid placed NYers, or anyone who wants a good, tasty bagel. Kudos for having copies of the NY Daily News, and NY Post on sale also. Thumbs up BB
(4)Victoria L.
The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and they don't skimp on the egg either. That thing is huge, but yes it's premade and not sure how real it is!! But I don't mind after taking a bite into a piece of bacon on top of the egg. Their chai tea latte is pretty damn good also. It's perfect on a cold winter day. The workers are usually nice but the owner seems upset everytime I come in like he doesn't want to be there? I don't ask for too much so I'm not sure how he really is but he is usually nice for the most part.
(3)Lindsey J.
Bagels are big, cream cheese selection is perfect, the pastries are always delicious and the owners/employees are great. I just wish they would open more locations! Go to bagel buddies to support a local business but grab a bagell because they're the best.
(5)Lauren G.
My husband and I love breakfast bagel sandwiches: egg, meat, and cheese on an Everything bagel. I really wanted to love this place. It's a neat little shop and was teeming with families with children when we went one Sunday morning after Mass. When we got to tuck into our sandwiches, we were disappointed by the pre-made egg patty and the lack of butter on the bagel. Maybe we're just spoiled with what we make. That being said, we should've saved some money and just made a better version at home.
(3)Jesse W.
Avoid at all costs. Ordered a burrito and a bagel. The burrito did not have HALF the things on it that the menu said it would. What WAS on it was dry eggs, dry potatoes, and a piece of ham (maybe?). The bagel was NOT what we ordered. We asked for honey wheat - we got onion. We asked for ham on the bagel and cheese, we didn't get either. Waste of money.
(1)Marco S.
Your regular bagel shop- pretty cool little nook in Fair Lakes for those who like a nice bagel deli meal at a sit down place. A little pricey for the quality.
(3)Fangjing C.
Had breakfast with my friend two days ago at BB. We ordered bacon egg and cheese on plain bagel and bagel with veggie cream cheese. Their veggie cream cheese is always my favorite!
(4)Mark S.
I've probably been here 4 or 5 times within the past month or two. They have plenty of fresh made bagels and a large variety of different cream cheeses. This place reminds me of a bagel shop in NYC. I really like how everything is laid out. Everytime I come in, there is always someone ready to take your order. Once you place your order, you just pay at the cashier and then you can sit down while you wait for your order. Whether you are dining in or taking the bagels home, the people always bring you your food with a smile on their face. Definitely my favorite bagel place in the area! Sure beats those chains that are around here.
(5)Albert S.
I really enjoy this place and wish I had found it sooner. I stopped in today after having Bagel Buddies' breakfast sandwiches recommended to me by a coworker and was not disappointed. Service was great, I came in an hour before closing time on a Saturday and the girls were incredibly nice, I did not feel at all rushed and there was still a great selection of delicious bagels. I asked what the most popular breakfast sandwich combo was and she made me a bagel sandwich with a huge slab of egg, round cuts of bacon, and cheddar cheese on the last jalapeno cheese bagel they had. The sandwich was great, bacon was not too chewy and the egg tasted great (while I'm not sure it was a real egg, I certainly couldn't tell if it was an egg substitute). The star of this sandwich is definitely the Bagel, I will be going back to get a dozen jalapeno cheese bagels very soon. I'm also going to be sure ask for more details about the "Weekday Work Special" they have advertised on their website for bagels and coffee next time I go in, grabbing some of these jewels for the office might be the quickest way to get a promotion! 5/5 will munch again
(5)Erin F.
Bagel Buddies used to be a wonderful place to stop in for a bite to eat in between shopping from store to store at Fair Lakes. Ever since the new owner has taken over the atmosphere is cold, boring, and almost jail like. The owner has yelled and put down employees in front of customers. I never see it as busy as it used to be because of the negative atmosphere the owner has created. The bagels are getting smaller and the amount of cream cheese is getting skimpy. It is very sad that they prices are going up and portions going down.
(2)Irene C.
This was a while back in November of last year which was the last time I've stepped foot into this place. The reason why? I saw cockroaches roaming around near my seating area. I immediately threw my food away and left. It was absolutely disgusting.
(1)Denise E.
I stopped in here by chance this morning when my first appointment was cancelled. Boy, am I glad I did. I ordered a toasted onion bagel with butter and it was the best bagel I have had in a long time. True boiled and baked New York style bagels. They also have breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, cappuccino, etc. The decor isn't much to look at, but the owner is extra personable. After I finished my bagel, I went back to the counter to buy 6 more to go! Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be back. I will also keep it in mind for client breakfasts and lunches.
(5)Alyssa G.
Inedible bagel. They really need to change their recipe. I got a sourdough bagel that was completely flavorless. My mom got a sandwich with chicken and the chicken wasn't completely cooked.

I was born in the Bronx. My family went to Jersey when I was five, but Dad worked in the city so I was spoiled by a healthy stream of bagels and pizza. I loved lox but it was the only seafood I'd eat. I couldn't explain it other then where I was raised. Moving to Virginia was a depressing experience. Morbidly so. Athens Pizza in seven corners and afterwards Carmine's in Sterling, for a while sated me. As did the Holey Roll bagel shop in Alexandria. But Carmine's and the Holey Roll are gone and Athens has moved, renamed itself, and the owner retired... so it's just not the same anymore. If youre getting my world-view, you can understand why Bagel Buddies is an oasis to me. Once every couple of months I head there and bring home a dozen and a few ounces of lox and try to kill myself with carby goodness. Really, side by side, you will always gravitate to this place's bagels. I always do. And yes, I'm sure the owner is from NY. The sandwiches they serve honestly are a bonus. No NY bagel place sells such things, so I find them unnecessary, but this is the marketplace we live in and I want this place to stay in business. That being said, The "Brooklyn" sandwich actually isn't bad as the roast beef and horseradish does successfully evoke memories of a decent NY Deli. If that's what you want though, "Chutzpah" isn't that far away from this place (and in a former bagel shop's location. Coincidence? I think not!). Anyway, BB does all I want and more and if ever closes I may die of a morbid depression I have not known since Carmine's Pizza in Sterling closed. I'm glad to hear the Manhattan Bagel in Greenbriar closed. Once when they told me their grill closed at two PM, and that they only had chocolate and blueberry bagels (on top of their soup-naziesque drink refill policy), I left, and actually left and went to Bagel Buddies who *never* has that problems. They use the time honored tradition of selling the leftovers in bulks as day-olds.
(5)Austin K.
I eat a lot of bagels and I honestly believe that Bagel Buddies is the best bagel place in Virginia. The bagels are fresh and the selection is great, even during busy rushes. The employees are very nice and attentive. When I order an everything bagel, they always offer to bag it separately from the other bagels (which for me isn't necessary, but I appreciate the offer). My usual is a baker's dozen of whatever is fresh, and I always try to include a jalapeno cheddar bagel. I've only had one less-than-good experience here, and that's out of many, many visits.
(5)Christa F.
Addictive!! Truly, my colleague and I have had to put the brakes on our consumption because these bagels are quite simply OUTSTANDING!! Favorite for breakfast - everything bagel Favorite for lunch - Bleeker street That said, you just can't go wrong at this place. Service is brusque, but not unpleasant.
(5)Jenn G.
oh i was soooooo close to finding my local bagel joint! I've been on the hunt since moving here and have been miserably disappointed in my search. I'll give it to Bagel Buddies - their actual bagels are fantastic. No complaints there. But for their breakfast sandwiches, they use premade egg product. YUCK! No self-respecting bagel joint should be putting breakfast sandwiches in the microwave! If this place ever gets a real grill and starts putting real eggs on their sandwiches, they'll be my new fave... until then...
(3)Kristi J.
Service was 5 star and the food was exceptional. You can see that the bagels are made fresh in an oven from where you are ordering your food. The bagels were soft and did not feel like you were biting into the usual stale bagel you find elsewhere. Anyway, we had the asiago bagel with egg and cheese and the omelette on an onion bagel. Overall, the bill came to 9 dollars. I will definitely be back there next time I'm in the area.
(5)Keith M.
I've been in here one time but my brother and my sister-in-law have been back several times after being introduced to this place by my wife. Just like Tony's next door, If you're a transplant from the NY/NJ area, you'll love this place. I'm not sure if the owner is a new yorker or not but I can kind of understand why some V'Ginians are a little put off. Gotta have thicker skin. The service was prompt, the food came fast, and he got my order right. They have a plethora of NY named sandwiches to choose from that sound delicious. My wife tells me that they are in fact delicious. I wanted to go to Panera this morning feeling more secure with a consistently good product, but glad I went to Bagel Buddies instead. The bagel was great. I'll be back here. There's no other sandwich shop in the area that makes the kind of sandwiches I used to get back home. (NJ sloppy joes and such..... Wiki it. Apparently a lot of V'ginians don't know about any other sloppy joe than the one that comes in the can. go figure....). 4 stars is for service, variety, and a good bagel. Since I haven't tasted any of their other offerings yet, I'm reserving the right to withhold a star until I do.
(4)Greg X.
Bagels: Good / large selection. Service: The owner is very rude.. he treats customers like &@#$ as if he's doing you a favor. For this reason alone i stopped going to that place.
(2)Jon W.
Five stars for the whole wheat supreme (everything) bagel. Haven't seen that anyplace else. I get the lox sandwich aka Long Island Burger. Always fast and friendly service. Highly recommended.
(5)M B.
LOVE their bagels and their bagel sandwiches. Also have awesome pastries and great coffee.
(5)Elain X.
The portions here are really small. I felt like my bagle was lacking but none the less flavorful. I got the manhatten and it was pretty good but the price for what they give is not worth it. I won't be returning though.
(3)Emily L.
Bagel Buddies is my go to on Saturdays before work! They're always friendly and have a huge variety of bagels as well. Only thing I would say is that they add A LOT of cream cheese, and it also isn't the best place to go when you're running late and just trying to grab a bagel either, as it takes a bit of time since they're usually pretty busy.
(4)Philip S.
Bagel sandwiches are good, a little under salted, but tasty enough. Coffee was a little weak but compared to other breakfast joints and bagel places this one is one of the quicker ones, and it's not that fast, but great for picking up on your way to the office in the morning.
(4)Andy M.
Excellent food, fair price, prettt speedy service but finished product however was a bit messy and sloppy...had to use a whole bunch of napkins Other than that def great and will come again. Good for breakfast and lunch
(4)Anna L.
This place isn't fancy - It's a family owned business in a strip mall. But, the bagels are freshly made on the premises and delicious! I had the Western Omelet bagel sandwich with bacon instead of ham on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. I also asked for a side of bacon scallion cream cheese. Yes, I love bacon. The sandwich was delicious. The variety of bagels and cream cheeses they offer is almost overwhelming. Loved my blended ice coffee as well. Will definitely be back.
(4)Chow N.
Stopped by for a quick lunch. I had the Manhattan, which is a combo corn beef and pastrami with swiss and coleslaw on rye. The sandwich was quite thin, but decent in taste. It cost $5.99. I also tried the matzo ball soup, which was a regular 12oz size. Tally came up to almost $12. What? Next time, I'll just stick to Jason's deli.
(3)Karen V.
Best bagels I've found in NoVA. Great service. Friendly owners. Great variety on the flavors of bagel, as well. I am forever grateful to the Manhattan Bagel in Greenbriar for closing so that we'd go looking for something better. The best part? So many sesame seeds on those sesame bagels. Thank goodness. Too bad they're next to Tony's instead of Pomodoro. No one-stop meal-planning for me :)
(5)Jessica C.
My boyfriend and I went here for brunch on the weekend. The experience started with a male teenager smoking out front. As we waited in line, said teenager came into work (no uniform, no hat, and stinking of cigarettes around the food). After we were helped by a nice young girl the smoky male teenager asked us if we needed help, after we said we'd been helped he pointed to the man behind us and said "you" in a very rude tone. Once we had placed our order we realized that ALL of the employees were wearing one glove or NO gloves on their hands. Eww! The manager/owner (not wearing a uniform/hat either) seemed friendly and rang us up. We each got a cup of coffee and were not satisfied with any of the 6 flavors- they were either too weak, burnt, or lacked any of the flavors they advertised. When my boyfriend went back in to try another flavor of coffee he said two of the male employees were talking loudly behind the counter about how their other guy friend was still a virgin... With the manager no where in sight. Super disappointed in the service here. Our food tasted pretty good which is the only reason this place is getting two stars.
(2)Amy L.
The only edible bagels in NoVA. And they even have bialys! This transplanted New Yorker can't say enough about this little slice of home! I had them cater my son's bris. If you've gone there and eaten some weird wrap or funky (non-Jewish) ethnic food, you're missing the point.
(5)L P.
Very legitimate bagels and breakfast sandwiches. However, service is eh and decor is eh. They are always out of coffee and the girls behind the counters are too distracted on their cell phones to notice unless a customer says something (I've done it 2 out of the 3 times I've eaten there). It's very annoying especially if you are hungry and sleepy. Have coffee ready!
(4)Neal E.
A great place for all things Bagel! One of the things I love about this place is the range of options available for cream cheese. Seems like most places offer 4-5 flavors. But Bagel Buddies has a lot more than that! I did not count, but if I had to guess - I'd say at least 20 different cream cheese options. Today I ordered a toasted sun dried tomato bagel, with Bacon & Scallion cream cheese, and a large coffee. It was excellento! Is that a word? If not, I just made it up! They also offer a wide selection of breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, and a lot more! Coffee was good and strong, there is a steady stream of folks in line at 11:30 am this morning. Lots of Moms with kids in here. There are a few outdoor tables as well. I will return here in the future to make buddies with more bagels!
(4)Sarah G.
This place is a NOVA hot spot fo sho. Be prepared to see some soccer/lax moms enjoying a bagel on a Tuesday morning while they're gossiping about the latest scandal at Chantilly HS. The owners here are great and have kept the bagels consistently delicious. They're more New York style than D.C. style, but it's all good because, after all, this is closer to the Capitol. Also, super good motzah ball soup here!
(4)Vanessa P.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this place, at all. Great food, great prices, great dessert. The Beau had a western omelet on a plain bagel and I had a bacon, egg and cheddar on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. At first glance it doesn't look very filling or like very much food. By the end of the meal I was full (but not too full). I really, really liked the jalapeno cheddar bagel as it didn't over power the rest of the sandwich. The Beau said he would have liked a little more kick to his -- maybe by adding hot sauce (which, IDK if they have there or not though I'm sure they do) but overall he was totally satisfied. I ordered three rugelach to go -- a raspberry, cinnamon raisin and chocolate (listed the in the order of my favourite). They're $0.75/ea or 10 for $6 and totally worth it, especially the raspberry one, which, IMO, was the most flavourful of the three. We can't wait to go back and try their sandwiches. You should all immediately go now (cos they close pretty early) and chow down!!
(5)Lilly W.
I love Bagel Buddies. We stumbled upon them while out for a day of shopping and everything is fantastic. I always get the Park Avenue Deli Sandwich--- SO good! My husband switches it up, recently he ordered the Central Park, again so good! Perfect Sunday breakfast! I definitely recommend. Pricing is good too.
(5)Angela H.
My favorite bagel place in the area and they have excellent veggie cream cheese! Their sandwiches are really good as well. Pretty much everything! Price is good and they have some pretty good desserts too!
(5)Sam C.
Let me start off by saying stay away from this place. Although their bagels are decent, the service and staff is awful. Not only was the young girl that was trying to take my order ask me multiple times to repeat myself and the owner over her shoulder trying to explain things to me that she didn't know, but when the man in front of me asked how the chicken salad was and the owner said great, the owner then proceeded to talk to the girl helping me. He was saying horrible things about the man who asked a simple question saying hes an idiot and why would that jackass ask that question. He said this all infront of me and my girlfriend out loud. This guy is rude and practices bad business. NEVER GO HERE! Plus idk what this guy is thinking with this "long island burger." Lettace on a bagel with cream cheese and lox? Doesnt make any sense.
(1)Matt Z.
Fantastic local small business, offering a superb product. They serve bagels of all types and they do it well. They also do bagel sandwiches and a few deserts (rugelach being my favorite). GET THERE EARLY as they run out fast and stop making bagels after the lunch-hour rush. Best bagels in Fairfax, hands down.

This place has the best bagels in Fairfax. Come on the weekends, the baker who works Saturday and Sunday is the better of the two. The negative reviews seemed to be based on sandwiches, or single experiences, which in the case of the former is not their principle focus, and in the case of the latter is simply stupid. Come early on a Saturday morning, get a couple different kinds of bagels, try their cream cheeses, of which they have many choices. You will not be disappointed.

We've been going to Bagel Buddies since they opened back in the mid-90s. For a bagel shop in a strip mall in the far-out suburbs, Bagel Buddies does just fine. The bagels will not make you think you're on First Ave. in Manhattan, but they are a cut above the crap bagel chains (the only bagel chain that is worth a darn is Brueggers, and they mostly vanished from this area in a franchisee dispute years ago). The egg supreme bagel is excellent. They also have very good rugelach, which is a real plus since most store-bought rugelach are crap. (My family rugelach recipe is world-class, so my standards are very high). The coffee is pretty good. As a final note, they used to give you enough cream cheese on a bagel that you could just buy another plain bagel and have enough cream cheese for both, but lately they seem to be skimping on the cream cheese a bit.

This was a wonderful find while we were in Fairfax. While in town we were determined not to eat at chain restaurants. Being from NY/NJ I'm always looking for a great bagel and this comes pretty close to it. They are water bagels so they have the perfect crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I had a poppy seed with cream cheese, my husband had a plain with sausage egg and cheese and my daughter had a muffin. The only complaint was that the egg was microwaved. Excellent find, it definitely ranks up there with the best.

This place has rave reviews so I was expecting a lot, but it's just an average bagel place. Good bagels, but nothing spectacular. Of course, this place makes sammies and desserts and all I got was a half-dozen bagels, so maybe I missed a lot of the appeal. But basically all I really want from a bagel place is good bagels. These were fine. They had a good crusty exterior. But other than that, what's the big deal? The garlic on the garlic bagel was bitter; this is usually the case with garlic bagels, but if that's what I want I can just go down the street to Wegman's. The granola bagel sounded interesting, but it was just a cinnamon-raisin bagel with some oats sprinkled on top. What I was really looking forward to was the sun-dried tomato bagel, but I was told they don't make those anymore. So I guess it's back to Einsten for those. Veggie cream cheese was decent though.

This place is amazing. I come here so often they know me by order because I always get the same thing every time. Best part of it all are the bagel are fresh baked on spot. Yum!!!

Ok, if you know what a good bagel is....then you have found where to get your fix. If you have not yet experienced Bagel nirvana or if you think that Einsteins makes a great bagel...please....for your own sake get to Bagel buddies ASAP! These holy creations, get it...cause there's a hole!....are not to be missed. The cream cheese is also wonderful, and they offer a special on the leftover bagels between 3 and 4pm each day when they close so that you can stock up. Seriously...I can't stress enough. Get yourself to this place immediately. Their bagels are everything I've been missing in life, and they complete me. I only just found them at the near violent urging of an acquaintance that lives in the area and I am already a devotee for life. I particularly loved the whole wheat works bagel. However the salt ones....those are pretty fabulous too. Mmmmm.

I've been here alot, but I write this review after my first visit to Bagel Buddies post changing ownership. Before, I could easily say this was a 5 star bagel/deli restaurant. Sure the decor and dining room are just passable, but the bagels are outstanding, and the sandwiches always came piled high. Something has changed though, and while the bagels are still excellent the sandwiches themselves have grown a bit skinnier. The "Long Island Burger" (a lox bagel with the trimmings) in particular seems to have suffered from the recession. As a die-hard smoked salmon lover, to see my favorite sandwich at Bagel Buddies go from being a Brooklyn-rivaling masterpiece to just another bagel with lox is enough to warrant a slide in stars. However their rugelach is better than ever, and the bagels are yes - outstanding.

This place is fantastic!!! Their bagels are always fresh and cooked perfectly and their selection is extensive, as is their cream cheese selection as Robert B noted. Their bagel pizza is awesome, but you probably wouldn't get that seeing as how Tony's is a only a few feet away. Also, their bagel sandwiches are great too. The best bagel place in Northern Virginia!

Bagel Buddies is a rare find in the chain-infested dining scene in Northern Virginia. It's an actual, independent, locally owned eatery. Nearly all of my business with them is buying a dozen at a time. On the occasions when I've eaten there, I've found the sandwiches to be well made, the ingredients fresh and everything delivered as ordered. The bagels are as close to being like those you'll find in Manhattan as you'll find around the DC area. They're better than the chains, and they make the bagels in the traditional way by boiling before baking. They're generous with the toppings or coverings or whatever it is that you call them. They're crusty on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle. Exactly what a bagel should be. New owners have taken a little while to settle in. as a result there is some inconsistency in the size and shape of the bagels. In addition there are times that the proofing has been allowed to go on too long. But in general the bagels are reliably good, and much better than anything else in NoVa. The sandwich service reminds me a little of the Chicken Deli on 28th street in Manhattan in terms of their selections and the frantic pace. For a sack o' bagels, this is the place to go.

THANK YOU to the owners of this place for finally providing the Northern VA area with a decent bagel place. Growing up in Boca Raton, FL, I was surrounded by these types of establishments and I've missed them so much since I moved up here. My mother found this place in Farifax one day-- and it is a kosher-style place. They have great matzo ball soup-- usually when I go, I get a cup of that along with an everything bagel with cream cheese and lox. I love that they have lox, matzo ball soup, rugala and bialys...which are so hard to find up here. They also have other things as well-- all types of sandwiche, pastries and coffee drinks. Breakfast sandwiches served all day too. Anyone that says this place is "just average" doesn't know the definition of a good bagel place!

Very good. Better than last visit and back to their good standards. Forgot then name of sandwich I ordered but it had chicken, cheddar, bacon, and BBQ sauce. I ordered without the bacon and on a honey wheat bagel. Didn't care for the bagel as a sandwich but as just a plain bagel it was good. The bagel just didn't work with the sandwich which was my fault. The BBQ sauce was really really good. Ordered 4 bagels to take home for breakfast. Yum! They were out if asiago cheese bagels :( otherwise they would have received 5 stars.

Solid bagel spot.. Def the best in the area. Plenty of bagel types, diff cream cheeses, and specialty sandwiches. Staff is also attentive and friendly.

I moved to Fairfax nearly a month ago and after doing some recon came up across this place (and only 5 minutes from my place). Let me start by stating that there is nothing like a NY/NNJ bagel. I grew up in Northern NJ and still haven't found any bagels that can compete with the tri-state area however Bagel Buddies does a fine job in attempting too. They have many different bagel flavors to choose from including their cream cheese selections. I've been back about 4 times in nearly a month. Would recommend for anyone who loves Sunday morning bagels.

Well, my review might be a little jaded as I've been going to bagel buddies for the past 14-15 years. I've known the original owners (new owners took over as of the middle/end of last year) since I was working at the TCBY in the same shopping center and they never let me forget it, haha. Regarding the bagels, unless you. The main differences are that the bagels are baked fresh on site every day, the sandwiches are actually piled high and the bakery items, while limited, are very good. The new owners have done a great job of keeping the product true to it's original form and have even updated a few of the less sightly things. I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing some breakfast but keep in mind, the 7-11 crowd can get pretty thick at times... Especially on the weekends.

Great service, great bagels. Almost feels like New York.

I woke up this morning with a craving for a bagel... Never having had experienced this craving before, I hopped onto yelp and looked for a spot to grab a bagel from. I'm not a fan of Einstein's... and would rather attempt to make my own bagel at home (aka: make some pathetic toast) than grab a bagel from McDonalds down the street. Enter: Bagel Buddies. I drove a couple miles and ventured into the establishment. There is a seating area to your right and a line to the counter on the left. On various signs there are ads for various types of their bagel concoctions (breakfast, lunch sandwiches, etc). When I arrived at the counter, I was a little overwhelmed. I decided to play it safe on my first visit- ordering a plain bagel with bacon and scallion cream cheese (I had never seen this flavor before)... As I waited for my bagel to be made, I grabbed an Orangina out of the fridge (which also held various types of vitamin water, teas, and juices) and took a look at the rest of their menu. They offer a ton of cream cheese (I probably couldn't name half of them for you- because I've never even heard of half of them before), baked goods (muffins, cookies, other pastry items), bagel sandwiches- for breakfast and lunch... the list goes on. A pretty extensive menu for a small bagel establishment. I ripped off a piece of my bagel when I was driving in the car (I wouldn't wait...)... ... and half of it was gone by the time I got back to my apartment. YUM! I will definitely be back (and be more adventurous) to Bagel Buddies!

I have never tried it for breakfast, so maybe it's good for then. However, for lunch, go some place else. I went with my friend and sister for lunch. My friend had a veggie burger, sister had a tuna melt, and I had a thai chicken wrap. I also asked for a White Chocolate Mocha. First off, it took forever for them to take our orders. We should have just ran out then. After we ordered, it took another 20 minutes for them to make our sandwiches. We were probably better off going to a sit-down restaurant. After the long wait, they had forgotten my White Chocolate Mocha. We finally left. I thought that because it took so long that it would be amazing. Ewwwww....gross. The wrap tasted more like a flavorless Vietnamese sandwich. After I talked to my sister and friend, they also said that their food was disgusting. The White Chocolate Mocha tasted like Hershey milk with a little bit of coffee. I don't think the three of us will ever return.

Best bagel place in Northern VA. I love how after almost a year of not coming in for my Saturday bagel the owner still remembered me and gave me grief for not coming more often. Try their black & white cookies if you can get them. They're very authentic and delicious!

Fast friendly good coffee cheap.

I'm so glad I found Bagel Buddies. As a New Jersey native, I no longer have to stock up on bagels when I go home to bring back to Virginia. By far, the best bagels I've found in the area. If you're looking for sweet, I love the Orange Cranberry. Savory, Asiago is my favorite, with tons of cheese baked right on top. The also do a flavor of the month, so make sure to check what this month's is (I've had delicious lemon poppy seed and spianch and herb in the past). They have a large selection of cream cheeses and a lot are available in both regular and light....my go tos are usually strawberry for sweet, and olive and pimento or spinach artichoke for savory. We usually only come here for breakfast so I can't comment on the sandwiches, but if you want a good bagel, this is definitely your place.
(4)Shelley M.
Great family owned business. I actually like the fact that they employ local high school students. They need to start somewhere. Bagels are delicious and always fresh! The black and whites are to die for....
(5)Mark D.
I've been getting my bagels from Bagel Buddies for over 10 years now and it's just as good as it ever was. If all you want is round bread, Giant, Safeway, Wegmans, or Chesapeake Bagels is just fine. But if you want real New York style bagels that are boiled before cooking and you don't want to drive to Maryland, Bagel Buddies is the place for you. The new owners took over from the Schiffman's last year and I am pleased to see that they've maintained this great Chantilly tradition.
(5)Marlene S.
Went here for breakfast with my bf. They have a lot of different kinds of bagels!!! We both got breakfast bagel sandwiches. I don't remember what time we got there, but it was pretty early and this place was busy...the line was at the door. If I still lived in Fairfax, I would def. go there more often to get bagels. Their black and white cookies was really good too...mmm!!!! Ok, need to stop reviewing places when I'm starving!

EXCELLENT AND UNUSUAL VARIETY OF BAGELS! Today was my first visit to Bagel Buddies in the Fair Lakes Shopping Center. Fair Lakes is a very pretty area. The bagels were authentic, NY Style Bagels, and this restaurant has very unusual kinds...Peanut butter Bagels and French Toast Bagels to name a few. The staff was very nice even when it was crazy busy and I like that this restaurant is very clean. They also do the "scooped bagel" (take out the bagel inside for less calories). The bagels were steaming hot -right out of the oven at 10am. They didn't even need to be toasted! A few outdoor seats in the front of the store is a nice place to sit on a sunny day. It's very close to COSTCO and it's in a huge, huge shopping center with Home Goods and many other excellent stores so I can go shopping after we all get our delicious bagels. I would definitely recommend this place and we will return!

Friendly service. Inexpensive and delicious food. Excellent cream cheese. Excellent sandwiches.
(5)Jennifer M.
This shop has a good selection of bagels and spreads, and a wide variety of sandwiches if you're looking for something more. I live near this shop, and while I've had their bagels and spreads for breakfast somewhat frequently, this was my first time trying a bagel deli sandwich. I ordered the Central Park, and while the sandwich was good, and the bagel was fresh, I thought the garlic herb cream cheese dominated the flavor profile of the sandwich, which was somewhat unfortunate because the turkey and tomato pesto spread both looked delicious. Next time I go for a deli sandwich, I will probably stick to an option that doesn't contain cream cheese, or ask them to go light. One of my favorite things about this shop is the fountain soda contains Birch Beer!
(4)Kristin D.
For that authentic bagel texture and taste, this is the place.
(4)R B.
My husband and I visited Bagel Buddies last month on a weekend morning. It was pretty busy and I waited in line for a really, really long time. I thought the long wait would mean that the food was super, not quite. I ordered a toasted bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagel was loaded with cream cheese to the point where I needed to spend even more time removing most of the cream cheese. The end result was that the bagel was below average, the place was small, and the wait was too long, I wont be back.
(1)Jessica J.
Bagel Buddies has the best bagels in the area. Fresh, quality bagels in a variety of interesting flavors. I'd much rather go to a good independent bagel place than a chain, but some of the independent ones we've tried around here have been pretty crappy. Bagel Buddies, however, is delicious!
(5)Christine R.
I've lived in the area for years and have never been to Bagel Buddies and probably won't return. I love love love me some breakfast bagel sammies but the one I got here was probably the WORST I've ever had in my life. I'm not a picky eater either. The bagel was nothing spectacular... it's was a bagel. I'm not sure how people can say "this bagel was the best"... The only way a bagel could be terrible imo is if it's not the "flavor" you like or it's stale. Anyhow I ordered a ham, egg and cheese and this thing came out with what looked like it was made with 6 eggs. Microwaved. It was huge. I absolutely hate places that microwave their eggs too. Next the ham that was on my half dozen microwaved egg on a typical bagel was straight inedible. I mean just thinking about the way it looked, and felt in my mouth while I chewed for 10 minutes is making my stomach turn. And we waited at least 25 minutes to place our order. Totally bummed overall about my experience here. Not returning.

Mmmm delicious bagel sandwiches! I would give them 5 stars if the service wasn't so slow. They have a bunch of teens making the sandwiches and I often see them (I go 1-2x a week) moving along like turtles, sometimes even goofing off. Other than that, the bagel sandwiches are awesome. I suggest taking bagels to go and not dining in because it is very small and stuffy in there. While I'm waiting for my order to be made, I always notice a ton of crumbs scattered all over the floor. Anyway, their menu is pretty big (extensive array of bagels) and I intend to try most of them!
(4)Bill P.
Definitely superior to Manhattan bagels and others among the very limited choices in NoVA. Huge bagels... The garlic, onion, and supreme bagels actually HAVE lots of garlic, onion, and...er...supreme-ies on them, as opposed to Manhattan Bagels in Fairfax, which has like...three slivers on anything on any of their bagels. Their cream cheese is very expensive , but great quality...always fresh. UPDATE: 1. Now they have fresh Rugelach!!! MMMMMMMMmmmmm 2. Noticed another reviewer stating the main dude here is impolite. I kind of disagree. I think he just comes across as a little NYC-like, matter-of-fact, and kind of neutral. Granted, he's definitely not the bubbliest guy to ever work a bagel counter, but I woudn't go so far as to say he's "rude," per se. I mean...he says "thank you" to me when I'm there, so I take it as a win. Makes a decent espresso, too. Besides, at least he speaks english, which is NOT the case at every single Manhattan Bagels I've been to in Fairfax County...
(4)Robert B.
This place is great! They have an exhaustive list of bagel and cream cheese flavors and everything is super fresh. Try their bagel sandwiches if it's a bit later in the morning and you are in the mood for something different. The Bleeker Street on a toasted asiago cheese bagel is simply heavenly. This place can get pretty busy on the weekends, so expect to wait a little bit. The staff is friendly and courteous, but unfortunately the small size of the kitchen/prep area doesn't allow them to operate efficiently when people pile in. As they say, "Good things are worth waiting for."
(5)Val C.
I've been a Bagel Buddies customer since the original owners opened in the '90s. Yes, the new ownership is different but the bagels are still the best around. I get them every week, keep in plastic bags in fridge or freezer and go for lunch a few times a month. We call it "The Mothership" for displaced New Yorkers who appreciate good food with no frills.
(4)Gurkie C.
Whenever I am in the mood for a bagel this is the first place I think of. The food is good, and the prices reasonable. Personally I like adding tomato/lettuce to my bagel sandwichs at someplace like Einsteins this inflates the price to 5 bucks, here they add 15-30 cents... The bagels are very similar to what you find in NYC. My personal favorite bit about this restaurant is their jalapeno creamcheese! soooo good.... I tend to like things on the spicy side and this gives the bagel sandwichs just a bit of a kick!
(4)Sue C.
Best bagels since our family moved out of New York...fantastic. I'm sure the sandwiches and all of that are great, but if you just want a big, hot, chewy bagel old school NY style...go here.
(5)Vinnie P.
A nice alternative to the Paneras and Einstein Bros. of suburbia, Bagel Buddies is a cozy little place with charm. They have a very wide variety of fresh-baked bagels and cream cheeses that change daily, covering the usual stuff (plain, sesame, poppy bagels) while also offering more adventurous fare (pumpkin, peanut butter bagels). They'll also cook up some bacon and eggs for a breakfast bagel sandwich, or throw on whatever veggies and meat you want to make a lunch platter. On top of that, they have a number of speciality drinks and Jewish delicacies to help round out your meal. The friendly staff and the unusual food selections give them the feel of a laidback, neighborhood deli. Unfortunately, that charm and good food can translate to wait lines to the door on weekend mornings, and the place often runs out of seating room. Go at off hours.
(4)vinnie t.
best place for FRESH bagels. many different bagel to pick from. love the bagel sandwiches
(5)Andrew E.
Great Bagels but more importantly GREAT corned beef! I love the Manhattan on the Sourdough bagel! My wife really enjoys the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast bagel on any of the choices. The menu can be a little overwhelming for a newbie. For example, my wife in a rush somehow ordered a french toast bagel with strawberry cream cheese...an odd combination to say the least. Highly recommend.
