The food at the other locations is a lot better compared to here. It's not bad, but it's not great either here. This is a larger location, so it's easier to get a table, and of course you'll have more than enough TVs to watch. I just couldn't really get into being here. I know not to order another rail drink here. Then again, I know to also not order a beer here, as it was so warm. Service.....she's lucky I didn't ask her to give me $2.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting better out of this place... I've been to the Greene Turtle in Fairfax twice and was impressed with their food, so I tried two of the same items here at the Arlington location. Here is the cross-comparison Buffalo Chicken Dip - Fairfax uses fried pita bread... Arlington uses nachos. WTF? That pita bread was like fatkid crack... why not use it at all locations? Cobb Salad - The salad just sucked... plain old sucked. I may attribute this to the changing of their menu, but still, that's no excuse for crap food. For noon on a Sunday... the place was deserted. Service was great, but there was a surprising lack of a crowd.

I love this place! Cheap cheap beer if you join the Mug Club....which I did! Food is very very reasonable...even more so during happy hour!
(4)Mirela T.
After a day of volleyball it was refreshing to sit outside on the patio and enjoy a well deserved meal. We stopped in at this location and it was very accommodating. We had our dog with us so it was imperative that we sit outside. They were very cool with having our dog sit under the table. The waitress was super and recommended we try the buffalo chicken nacho appetizer. Her recommendation was money, I enjoyed every bite. We also ordered the hand breaded chicken tenders with fries. Very standard but very tasty. We also had the green apple salad which was surprisingly delicious. :) Overall a nice chill place...granted it was chill on a Sunday afternoon it could be different on a Saturday evening.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! Came here with a co worker and did not get anyone to stop by our table. The place was clearly not busy and the waiters and waitresses look right at us. Dont waste your time coming here.
(1)Alicia A.
I went there and the food was terrible even the drink were terrible. I'm surprised that the place is not closed down its that bad.

Was here for the Pacquiao/Bradley fight - friend recommended this place because it has a ton of TVs and was charging a $10 cover to see the fight. When we arrived the place was 1/3 full an hour before the fight. Luckily because the venue wasn't crowded we did not have to pay cover. 2/2.5 stars based on: Drink prices - cheap. Were offering $3.50 margaritas in a can. Nuff said. Beers were $2-$3 - drink special based on the fight. Food prices - reasonable considering it was 'bar food'. Had wings which were alright. Food is edible but unless you are starving I would skip it. Size of venue - Big - there is a dining area in the front and middle, a sidewalk patio, and a medium-sized bar area. # of TVs - this place is going to make a killing during football season if they get the drink/food specials right. Ballston (still) has little to no bars and this place is spacious and has a ton of potential. Parking - street parking and I think there is garage parking as well. For those of you who live in N. Arlington you already know how much parking sucks on that side of town so don't need to elaborate much here. Thank goodness for Ballston Mall. Not the best sports bar I have ever been to but considering the other options in the Ballston area it will do fine.
(2)Dave F.
Worst service in fells point. Food was horrible. Never coming back to the green turtle.
(1)Holly B.
I love the new Greene Turtle location, and I've never even been inside! Let me explain. Living in the Arlington area there is no shortage on spots you can sit outside with your dog...however most of them have not yet 'been certified' with the county yet...what this means for dog owners is that they have to stay on the outside of the patio (other side of any chains or fences). If you have large dogs like I do, this makes it impossible to enjoy a meal or a few drinks outside because you are constantly fussing with the leash and the dog and such. The Greene Turtle that just moved in to North Arlington is fantastic about this, they 'got certified', they have fantastic outdoor furniture (comfortable and plenty of it) and their staff is fantastic. I haven't had anything but great experiences here and will continue coming back!

If you want to drink a gallon of ocean water from the Atlantic Ocean or the Dead Sea, so that your tongue fizzes and the roof of your mouth peels because of the overwhelming sodium, then come here to eat. Otherwise, order beer ONLY! Our order: crab dip, fish and chips, Philly cheesesteak (the provologne cheese looked like a film of placenta over the sandwich, gag). Small TVs for every table, but don't expect HD. Looks like there's tons of games which we didn't play. No one greeted us when we walked in. Hey turtle, peace out.
(2)Olivia P.
Don't go here expecting service. The wait staff might take your order once, but you'll never get a second round.
(2)Ethan B.
The Green Turtle seems like a good happy hour spot so that is where I started. With $2 Coors, Bud, and Miller Lites they had decent specials. I went with a $3.50 Yuengling because I like to taste my beer. There were also a few food specials which were good but nothing of note. Their buffalo chicken dip was not up to my standard but I wasn't complaining for $6. They had more TVs than I could look at and I honestly don't know what they would use them all for. There was also corn hole outside but due to the sweltering heat it was way to hot to stand there and play it but I would certainly play next time. This is just another bar with nothing to special but it's new and not run-down yet so I would go back.
(3)Jihad B.
Eh... Had the Buffalo Chicken Dip to start, it wasn't as filling as you'd get at most places but the bread bowl it came in was delectable. I ordered the stuffed pepper-jack burger as my entree and wasn't asked how I wanted it. It came well done but the cheese stuffing almost made up for it (almost). All in all this was a standard sports bar experience with nothing that really made me consider coming back here.
(3)Peter M.
So we showed up to watch march madness. Sit at a table, bunch of dudes. Order many drinks, and plenty of food. They're making good money off of us. After an hour the manager comes and says the table is reserved for some people that called in that morning. What? How do you kick paying customers out of a table? Oh, and the place is half empty. Review of the food: crab cake 90% bread, shitty. Wings were OK. Douchenozzle manager needs to learn about customer service. I mean, just atrocious.
(1)Lesley G.
I went to lunch with some co-workers and nearly all of us were disappointed with our meals. I was so excited to try the mac and cheese, but it turned out to be a flop. It tasted like an old casserole. The girls who got crab soup did not like it at all and ended up without lunch. I do appreciate the waiter offering to take the crab soup off of the bill upon a negative comment.
(2)Daniel B.
YASB. Yet Another Sports Bar. Color me unimpressed. With a standard spread of food selections, there really is nothing notible about this place. If the other places around are too crowded I guess this would be an option.
(2)Kim H.
Holy hell the wings are f*cking spicy!!! ....and we only got the "kinda hot", my lips were on fire and I seriously needed a good 20 min to recover. I can only imagine what blazing hot tastes like!!! The bar is not designed very well so it always feels very crowded. Other than that, they have decent happy hour specials, lots of TVs and friendly bartenders. There is garage parking connected to the building ($5 dollars).
(3)Jonathan B.
I just stepped into this green turtle and had the worst experience ever. I went for food because I actually enjoy their food. But this time I didn't. I got to the bar at the tale end of happy hour and it wasn't busy at at. I didn't want a drink but got offered one anyway. So I naturally took it. But as the whole time I sat down, 40 mins, I didn't get asked for food order or if I was ok. I've been to better places than that. I've been to this Green Turtle before and had better service at the bar and at tables. I'm saddened to say that Green Turtle is racist since I was the only one of color at the bar and didn't get any service besides just one beer. I left disgusted really and still hungry. I'm not coming back
(1)Oliver R.
Not a good experience. First I waited about 5 minutes at the host stand to be seated. I gave up and sat at the bar. The restaurant was not crowded yet the two bartenders seemed busy and flustered. I sat and waited a few minutes before they greeted me. The food was ok. Nothing you can't get elsewhere. They missed the simple things like welcoming a guest, checking on the entree before the last bite is taken and most importantly offering another beverage before the current one is empty. I'll skip this place next time.
(2)Donald P.
Good Happy Hour specials. Service was good. Food was alright. What you would expect from typical bar food.
(4)Matt B.
We chose this place only because the sign said kids eat free, and it was across from our hotel. Let me start out by saying our food was good. And they are lucky it was because it took forever to get our drinks, another forever to get our food, and another forever for me to get the RIGHT food. Our waitress first brought me a burger when I ordered a chicken sandwich, then another woman came out and apologized for the mix up and said my turkey sandwich would be out soon. Wrong again. So finally I got my sandwich after my wife and friends were almost done eating. She then never made any attempt to adjust my bill for my inconvenience. I walked inside and the manager was more than helpful and apologetic. In the end I did not pay for my meal. Not impressed at all with my experience.
(2)Tri T.
Late Saturday evenings (10pm) is dead. They are open but the staff is mix friendly or the opposite, lazy. Likely b/c they're not making much money and they want to go home. We sat outside waiting for our server to take orders while watching a table come after us and another server gave them drinks and food. We waited and still nothing (even after asking for help). 30 min later, we bailed for Rock Bottom which has full menu until 11pm or so and the food isn't so bad either.
(1)Lily M.
Customer service was horrible. The server (Ashlie) brought me the wrong drink and rushed us out of the establishment. Worst experience ever!!!
(1)Armond B.
Overpriced food menu, especially for lunch. I ordered chicken tenders and fries, which translated to 4 over cooked pieces of chicken and no fries for ten dollars. Also went here one night shortly after it opened. There's no room in the bar to stand, so you need to grab a table before it gets crowded. Blue moons were over $6 each.
(2)Brendan H.
There are 4 things I hate in life. 1) uva 2) aids 3) when Matt Damon isn't in a movie 4) repeat 1-3. What I don't hate is green turtle now. Grace rocks, Jeremy is a browns fan, and I've decided I now love Wally. This place has great specials and great staff. Come here and you will have fun.
(4)Mike M.
I never understand why a sports bar has live music or a dj on a Friday or Saturday night. I couldn't even hear my friend right next to me, let alone the bartender or any games on TV. No wonder she got our food order wrong. No wonder that place is perpetually empty. What they're doing there makes no sense to me & I'm certain they won't stay in business. I'm surprised it's lasted as long as it has.
(1)Craig B.
food is pretty good, but i just can't remember eating at a place where the servers were more apathetic, lugubrious, slovenly.
(2)Mattie C.
I was excited that this opened in Ballston. I had really wanted to go to the one in Chinatown but it was always so crowded that I never ended up going. So a couple of us went to this one the other night. I really like the fun, sports-like atmosphere and the huge open space, as well as the plethora of giant TVs around the bar. This seems like a good alternative place to come during football season so I am looking forward to that. When we were there they seemed to be having a special GMU night, with a table of paraphenalia and a lot of college people there. I guess GMU has a satellite campus around here? They had guiness, which made the boyfriend excited, and fat tire on tap, nice! Our friend got hit on by a hilarious/creepy guy while we were here, who made his approach by standing in front of him and rabidly humping the air for about 20 seconds, and then when asked what the F he was doing explained that he had already humped friend from the back while pushing by him to get to the bathroom and thought he should know. He then informed us that he was on his way to the bathroom again and that he was planning to hump our friend again on his way back to his seat. Maybe you had to be there, but we thought this was hilarious and added some fun to the night. We will be back to watch some football and maybe to be on the lookout for our little humpy friend. I'm glad this place came to Ballston!
(3)Susan W.
I have been here a few times and always really enjoy myself! The food is pretty good and there are great happy hour specials. One complaint I do have- I came in for happy hour around 6:00 last week and the music was outrageously loud. I looked around and everyone was sitting at a table trying to enjoy conversations NOT trying to bump and grind to hip hop. The lights also dimmed around 7:00. I think the atmosphere wasn't conducive to the crowd. I would definitely recommend this spot to watch sports or for an after work hang out! Especially in warmer months when you can sit outside.
(4)William M.
This place has all the negatives of a chain including disorganized and disinterested wait staff. We left after being ignored in a half empty room even after we got up and asked the hostess for a server.
(1)Jersey V.
This is your run-of-the-mill chain sports bar/restaurant, with lots of TVs and is more conducive to sitting at a table than hanging out for a drink at the bar. The bar is awkwardly laid out, kind of "trapping" people in the bar area, and because of the way the bar is angled, can make it hard to get drinks when crowded. That said, when sitting in the bar area, there is occasionally a server and that has made the visits better. On a recent Saturday night visit, the bar was nearly empty and everyone had plenty of room and ability to get to the bar. Other than crowding at the bar area, I've found the service here to be decent and polite. Prices are on par with other area sports bars. There is nothing inherently bad about this place, and there is nothing that really stands out either. I would not go out of my way to visit here, but I would not reject an offer to meet up here either. I am totally ambivalent about this place.
(2)Brian H.
Went once and that was too much. Visited on a Monday evening and despite the place being pretty dead the service was awful and the food even worse. Service was abysmal. No one knew what the happy hour specials were despite a sign promising good food ones, there are none on food we are told. Refills never came. Requests for sauce never happened. Waiter spent more time gossiping with the hostess than actually waiter-ing. The food was just as bad. My burger was way overcooked for medium and despite it being a BBQ burger, lacked bbq sauce. The fries were soggy and the new menu promoting kettle chips never came. When I asked for them, was given more than stale Lay's. My friends sandwich (veg) was also awful and heavily over dressed. This place is just truly awful and not worth your time (aggrativation) or money. It was good they came to Ballston but once the others open near them, they will be gone quick. Avoid it.
(1)Kostas P.
I stopped by for lunch in a business trip. I was staying over at the Westin just across the street. I saw that the reviews were not that great but I thought to stop by and give it a try since it was so close. However, I realized why the reviews were bad...While the stuff was very polite and very helpful and very fast, the food itself was possibly among the worse I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I got the turkey wrap. The turkey was stale, while there was a strange flavor in it from some sort of sause the used, which did not go at all with the wrap. In general, it seems to be a nice place to get a beer and watch a sports game but definitely not to eat.

Last night, my colleagues and I ate at the Green Turtle in Ballston around 730-8 p.m. Our waitress, a petite, Hispanic woman, with a slight accent, was our server. When we finally received service (she did apologize for the wait) she proceeded to explain the specials for the evening. One of the specials, according to our waitress was $12 pitchers of Bud Light. So, my friend and I ordered this and continued our evening. Service was extremely slow last night, besides the fact it wasn't crowded and we were sitting in the table area, not the bar area. Needless to say, we dealt with it, because we were hungry. When our bill arrived, we noticed the price was $15 instead of $12. Now, normally this wouldn't be a HUGE deal, but she is the one who told us HOW MUCH the pitcher cost. So, I asked her about the price, and she said actually said Peroni and Blue Moon are the specials. And I repeated what she had told us earlier, that the special was $12 for Bud Light. There were five of us present when she said that. She didn't apologize and stormed off after I tried to reason with her. After about 10 minutes, a "manager" type approached our table about the issue. I repeated exactly what happened, and told him that she stormed off. He admitted it was her mistake and apologized, but decided to keep the bill as is. Obviously, $3 isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I would expect better from a restaurant which is customer oriented. Not only was the waitress wrong, and got an attitude, but the guy (approx. 5'5, African-American) who apologized on her behalf, whom I thought was going to correct the bill, didn't. To lose five customers over $3 is ludacris. Why is service so damn slow and the place isn't crowded?! Customer service means accommodating the CUSTOMER We aren't a bunch of crazy, patronizing customers, it was after a bocce game! By the way, I have been to MANY GREEN TURTLES, this is not the best one in the game. Update: The manager wrote to me the next day and apologized on behalf of his wait staff, he also offered to comped meals for my next visit. So, I will change the star rating to 3.

Went in for happy hour on a Tuesday, immediately felt like a depressing place and lazy staff. Gave them the benefit of the doubt as it seemed like a slow night and stuck around for a few beers. But then, it got worse. We put in an order for food and the bartender acted like a complete dick for no absolutely no reason, at which point we canceled our order and left. Will not be coming back to the Greene Turtle.
(1)Ifiok I.
Amber is amazing. Best bartender in Arlington.
(5)Carolyn B.
Went Monday and no food specials for happy but drinks were decent. They just got a new menu which the server seemed to not know why was on it. We ordered a BBQ burger and I got a veggie flatbread. When we got our order, the salad that came with my meal had no dressing or side of dressing, I had fries which the menu says they will charge extra for and didn't care for. My friends burger barely had any BBQ sauce and when he asked the waiter for the sauce and chips instead of the fries, he got the chips but no sauce. The chips he got were stale!! So far, it was turning an unenjoyable trip. My veggie sandwich was drenched in glaze and had tons of mushrooms but lacked other a good potion of other veggies. For a new menu, I was unimpressed and the service wasn't great either.
(2)Anna D.
Not bad. When you come to the bar, the first thing you'll notice is the TVs. There's a lot of them. Their happy hour is $2 beers, $4 rail. I had a cosmo... ok, I had two cosmos, which weren't that great. I must have had a rough day. Anyway, Pinzimini at The Westin serves them up better. I also had a walnut and apple salad. I needed something healthy to balance out the liquor. It was pretty good, though its cost was inexplicable. I added grilled chicken and that tacked on $3 and change. In all, the salad came to about $13. That's pretty expensive for a bowl of mostly lettuce, if you ask me. For the trivia buffs, they had trivia on the Wednesday night that I was here. I actually got an answer correct, despite the cosmo taking its effect. Did I mention they have a zillion TVs? Yeah, they do.
(3)Carl S.
I'm updating this review to be two stars. The service has really gone downhill since they opened last summer. Very lackadaisical. I guess they wanted to make a splash when they opened, but now the wait staff can't seem to care less.
(2)Brenda D.
I like that their lunch specials include a free fountain drink. But nothing on the menu sounded particularly appetizing. I tried the crabby melt- and I'm not sure if I got food poisoning from that. The chips were oily, I'd substitute for french fries instead.

I came Yesterday night for the first time, to watch the UFC fights. Usually I go to Bailey's in the ballston commons mall to watch the fights. I will compare the 2. Below is my rating system to determine if I will go back: No cover, +1 Star. vs Bailey's $10 cover Parking on the street is not fun, -1 star. vs Bailey's mall garage or harris teeter Lots of TV's for the fights. neural as its a sports bar Bathroom was out of paper towels, -1. vs Bailey's always has paper towels it seems. Friendly yet slightly lethargic waitress, neutral. vs Bailey's Cheddar and bacon stuffed burger was amazing good+ 2. No bottled water -1. vs Bailey's has it After eating I noticed out of the corner of my eye, something scurrying underneath my foot. No fracking way!!! I huge roach was almost tautening me. I felt the burger in my belly rumble. I was so pissed I wanted to have evidence to show the people what I saw as I felt they would never believe me. I took an empty soda glass ( plastic) and trapped the roach. I wanted to have clear evidence of the roach, so we also got a few pictures ( dont feel I should post it here). I ask to see a manager. I tell him and show him my catch. He says it might be a beetle. Ohhh hell naw, I know the difference. Took me a few min to trap the super fast roach, and no beetle look like a roach and it that fast. He calls the general manager. He comes back and says most likely it was a beetle that came from outside as the door was open. I said well its a roach and its inside and I feel sick to my stomach after eating food here. They dont comp me anything, but write on a business card $20 off my next visit. What he failed to grasp, is I cant bring myself to patronize an establishment again after having a roach wrestle me UFC style. I might have defeated the roach, but I'm sure there are thousands more where that came from. it might of come from inside the place or from outside, but at this point I have no idea. All I know was it was big and fast. I dont drink alcohol, but I do eat, so I cant go back to a place where I saw a roach and order food again. Not gonna happen. Thanks for the 20 bucks anyway. -3 roach I'm not sure if I should post this review to yelp or not. Paul

Growing on me.. The first couple of times I came here I have to admit I thought about posting a 1 or 2 star review however the place is starting to grow on me. First off, realize that you are not coming here for a gourmet experience. It's a bar, with lots of tv's and enough well priced beers to keep you busy. If you are going to be disappointed because they don't have your favorite Belgium triple, go across the street to world of beer. If you are looking for a gourmet experience, try Willow, also across the street. But if you are looking for a casual place to grab a beer, give this place a try. They have good drink specials, beer pong, corn hole, and the wings are not half bad!
(3)Valarie G.
Came here with friends for the Caps game. The service was good and I loved that you had your own tv that you could change yourself but the parking is five bucks and the food isn't flavorful. A good sports bar but no wow factor.
(3)Munish G.
The fish & chips tasted like they were frozen. Also wasn't thrilled by the live cockroach that was on the bar.
(1)Josh S.
They have good happy hour specials, but other than that, this place is kind of a dump. It's never crowded, because it's never good. This place would have been better situated inside of Ballston Common Mall. It reminds me very much of Bailey's - you go because the deals are good and hope to have an ok time, but leave disappointed nonetheless. Also, they really need to work out some kinks at the restaurant. Seating people directly across from the side door is a problem during the winter. The door opens and guests are hit with bursts of cold air. You would think this would have occurred to the management. It hasn't. Also, I've never been to a bar that "runs out of glasses" as often as this. It seems like every time I want to order a large beer, they are out of the glasses. Get a new dishwasher, more glasses, or just shut the place down. I think the saving grace here is that the service is better than Buffalo Wild Wings next door (not setting the bar very high). It is likely to get overflow crowds from BWs.
(2)Samantha W.
Cheap happy hour deals -- $2 domestic drafts, $2 rails, $3 Yuengling. Can't beat that, even if it's PBR/Miller Lite/Bud Lite. Didn't get a chance to eat so I can't vouch for the food. Lots of TV's (though no subtitles), plenty of windows with natural light. A word of caution -- make sure you park in the proper building. I wasn't paying attention when I pulled into the garage next door (where GW University/Buffalo Wild Wings are) and they charged me $14 for 1 hour of parking. They also don't take credit cards so I had to write a personal check because I only had $6 on me. If you park in Greene Turtle's building, it's $1. Or park on the street after 6 pm. Colonial Parking is a bunch of a-holes.
(3)Dana F.
Not impressed. Service at the tables is always slow and the food is extremely poor. The group I was with got sliders and the bread was moldy! Disgusting.
(1)joe w.
Recommend happy hour dishes such as chicken quesadillas, sweet potato fries, and salad. Drinks are not bad and service is reasonable fast despite being crowded in the evening.
(3)J M.
Glad Yelp spelled this location's Greene Turtle correctly (Yelp still has it wrong at the Sterling location). Why do I care either way? When Motrya told me about this new location, I wanted us to check it out. I've had some not-so-great experiences at other Greene Turtle restaurants. I did enjoy the bacon & cheddar stuffed burger at the Sterling location a few weeks ago, and wanted to try one of the other ones. On Wednesday February 1st, we were actually greeted by the hostess and seated in the front dining area. The bar area towards the back was really busy with the younger crowd because, afterall, it was happy hour (Miller Lite was $3). The decor was typcial of other GT locations - sports memorabilia. Donald, our server, was patient as Motrya had him going back and forth from the kitchen a couple of times. I knew this was a new location, so perhaps, the servers are still learning about their food. She wanted to know how the sweet potato fries were cooked. Here, they're fried, but took our request to have ours baked. He did admonish me for trying to order first. Hmm - a little reality check on my part. Then again, I should've admonished him back for not asking me how I want my burger cooked. Motrya ordered the crab cake, which she said was good but "crumbly." I liked it too but had better ones elsewhere. I had the pep & cheese stuffed burger. Recently, we went to a pub where I enjoyed her dinner more than mine. This time, it was the other way around. I really like how it did have just enough "pep" and still tastes absolutely amazing. We'll be back because we each have a free appetizer coming our way the next couple of times we're there! We had to give our email addresses, but hey, it's free appetizers! UPDATE : as of today (February 11) we didn't receive an email for our appetizer!

I love the Greene Turtle in Chinatown so we thought that bringing a friend from out of town to the new location in Ballston was a great idea. We all live in Arlington and it's active, but we can still hear each other talk. This location has a place for corn hole playing outside next to some outdoor seating and lots of windows to bring natural light into the restaurant. TVs are everywhere. If you're worried about missing the game--don't be--they have you covered. The only thing that ruined our experience was the service. We were greeted (a large party of 8), seated and given menus immediately. Our waiter introduced himself, took our drink and food orders and all of that went smoothly! We ordered a mix of beers and mixed drinks. The happy hour is a great deal! $2 domestics and rail drinks from 6-9pm. We also ordered a plethora of burgers (Chesapeake burger, veggie flat bread, pretzel sticks, etc.) and everything was good! Things went sour after we received our food. Only some of us received our food and our waiter went missing for about an hour and even when he would pass by, it was impossible to get his attention to order another round of drinks for the table. He'd walk away even then before we were done ordering from him. We waited for a long time at this point, enough to kill a mood, and when we finally got his attention, we asked for the check. The waiter did offer to split our checks by what each individual ordered which was nice! It's unusual that they offer to do that for a large table but at that point it was too little too late. The service was fine at the beginning and the end, but for the hour in the middle, it was excruciating. Next time I'm going to buck up and go into DC to visit the Chinatown location.

I haven't been to any of the other locations but I've been here twice since it's so close to me. Once for the superbowl and another time just with a few people for dinner and drinks during the draft yesterday. I do like that they have a few veggie options that are more than just salads. It's great for the superbowl since they have so many television sets and no one really needs to talk to anyone. Yesterday's visit was not so great. We mainly went for dinner. The only tables they had were kind off off in two corners. Neither one seemed that great and we felt kind of secluded from everyone. If I wanted a private dinner, I probably would have chosen a non-bar type place. Initially our waitress was great but after she realized we weren't really drinking that much, she didn't come by too much. We had to get another staff member to have her bring us the check. She was good in that she did correct mistakes made though. Bottom line: The bar area is more fun and service probably will be better.

Here's the deal...their happy hour is awesome. $2 rails and domestics until 9, which is pretty much unheard of in Ballston. Plus, they have TONS of tv's. And now that it's summer and they have the patio open with cornhole, I am sure I will stop by on more than one occasion with coworkers at the end of the work day. For this portion alone, I would give the place 5 stars. In regards to the food...their appetizers are all mediocre, with nothing to write home about. It's just your standard greasy sports bar fare. The rest of the menu is really not very good. Even the burgers and wings are pretty sub-par. Definitely 1 star for their food. Verdict: 3 stars. If you are looking for a place to grab a cheap drink (or two), watch the game or relax outside, and get some apps with a group of friends, you are all set. Anything more.. I would go somewhere else.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about, but Greene Turtle is definitely one of the better sports bars in the area. Loaded with 15+ 50" tvs surrounding the bar area alone, drink specials all day long, and reserved tables with private tvs, Green Turtle is a definite must to catch your game. I've eaten here several times and they serve solid bar food. Their wings, jerk shrimp, and raspberry turkey flatbread are all good, and I've never had a problem with service. Get here early if you want to secure a seat for your game, and if the Redskins win you will be among fans singing the fight song played across their sound system.

The food is good here, and I plan to eat here again. It was nice that the manager came around to ask if the food was okay twice, once for my appetizer and once for the main entree. Waitress was attentive, but took a long time to bring the check. That was my only complaint. I liked this place and will be back. I gave it three stars because the food is standard sports bare fare, but the service was closer to four stars.

I just left during the first quarter of a football game. We called 3 times this week and were assured they were showing the game. The game was not showing, they ran out of glasses and served smaller beers with no discount, and after 30 minutes we never saw a waitress once. The management is horrendous, and I will never return to this establishment.

TREAT THIS PLACE AS CASH ONLY (SEE BELOW) So this location would actually be getting a one star if it was not for the fact that the design was nice and had a good fill of people. So I was here for a networking/ mixer event during a week day evening. The food was nice (wasn't spectacular or anything to drool over), the space for the event was awesome, and the overall design of the restaurant was very fitting. I agree that Arlington has too many sports bars; however, the location is nice and is not run down. Now when it comes to service this is where the negative start to come in. The servers were present but they really did not seem happy to be at work. I mean come on a smile goes a long way. I ordered a simple vodka tonic. When the drink came out I was a little shocked at the weakness of the drink ( I should have just asked for tonic water). Now comes the fun part. I get home that night and noticed that I had two different authorizations for $25. I was alerted but because it wasn't posted to my account I figured that it would fall off. Well I was wrong. One amount changed to the correct amount while the other moved to $12.00. If you read before I only listed about ordering a vodka tonic (the food there was free of charge/ probably supplied for the mixer). I gave cash as a tip as well so I was surprised that this unauthorized charge was placed on my card. So I called the location and was told to hold to speak to the manager (FIVE TIMES I WAS HUNG UP ON ). Seriously? Are you using a cordless house phone that has a short in it so every time you press the hold button it hangs up. So after 4 hours I finally get in touch with the manager who explains to me that I need to speak to the general manager. He took my information and explained to me that the GM would call me within the next hour. Three hours later I call back pissed and after being hung up on twice I finally reached the GM. He took my card information down and told me that the charges will be reversed. Fast forward two weeks to today and nothing has budged on my account. It is sad to see such horrible service and lack of regard for customers. Funny thing is when I went to the bank to dispute the charges the woman who was helping me out told me that she and some of her co-workers has the same issue. If you go hide yo kids, hide yo wife, and hide your charge card because they be over charging you too much!

Great food, great atmosphere, and the service was great. Big fan of this place and the root beer. I hear the other beer is pretty good too.

Came here with a group of friends to watch the VCU vs. LaSalle game. This place offers specials for VCU Alum for VCU basketball watch parties so we were pleased to find out that we had stumbled upon one that night. They provided a very large section for the viewing party which was filled up. Watching the game was fun...until we lost...lame. We got a beer tower of Stella and some of us got food. One person ordered the Margherita Pizza - it didn't look like any Margherita pizza I've seen before and it didn't look that appetizing (so this is a comment just about presentation because I didn't try it). It's a decent place and I don't mind coming back but it wouldn't be a first option. I think I may prefer Bailey's because they offer more lounge seating.
(3)Holly C.
Disappointed in this Green Turtle location. I tried several times to watch a Sunday game here and each time the freakin TV at my table would lose cable connection. For some reason their cable/satellite connection is iffy for some channels which seems to always have my game on it. The gluten free options are pretty limited here. The staff are friendly but often MIA even when the place is not that busy.
(2)Clara L.
This is a decent lunch spot and happy hour spot. They do trivia on wednesdays and have plenty of tvs if you are wanting to watching some sporting event. The food is pretty decent, but nothing mind-blowing. However it's kinda pricey for what you get, in my opinion. Then again, Greene Turtle is also just around the corner from my apartment, so I do tend to come here every so often for happy hour and will continue to do so.
(3)brandon p.
had the same experience as veronica below. i live around the corner from greene turtle and wish i could put the place into my dinner rotation but the service is as bad as any restaurant in the area. on two separate occasion i walked in and once waited 5 minutes to be spoken to by a hostess or anyone who works there and the other time waited a full ten minutes to be acknowledged. On both occasions i was then told that the wait would be a half an hour even though my girlfriend and i were the only two people waiting to be seated and the restaurant had LOTS of open tables and the staff didnt even look busy. i used to go here for games but was so ticked off at my last two experiences that i now walk to Buffalo Wild Wings without giving the greene turtle a second thought because i know i can at least get someone to say hello when i walk in the door instead of ten minutes later. maybe i will try again in 6 months in hopes that the hostess/management has been replaced but i wont walk into that place again any time soon and i walk past it every day. it's too bad this place turned out the way it did.

Decent place for some brews and some games. I did not try the food so I cannot comment on that aspect.

I've been to this location a few times and it's never been an amazing experience to brag about. The staff can't handle the football Sunday crowd, which is unfortunate because of the type of establishment this is. My boyfriend and I stopped in to watch the game and it seemed like the bar tenders were waiting tables as well.. One of them was sitting for a bit watching the game, while we still had no one come to our table yet. After about 10 min my boyfriend went to the bar, none of the bar tenders even looked in the direction of the customers at the bar. About 20 minutes passed before we were able to get a drink. Most of the people had buckets of beer because they said the service was poor so the buckets prevented them from having to wait around. (Good sales tactic I guess) Finally, after we already got our drinks, the bar tender comes over to ask if we were ok... Gee thanks. I bar tend at a sports bar too that is much larger than this one, and our crowd is 50x bigger, and NOBODY waits that long to be served. Some people are just lazy I guess...

A disappointing first visit to The Greene Turtle in Arlington. We stopped after work on a Monday night and I would say this newly opened location is still learning, training their peple and needs to adjust to their competition. We made it clear when we arrived we were looking to sample some beers yet were seated in the dining area and our waiter seemed more interested in serving us food than beer. We were all very disappointed the happy hour specials were on Bud, Miller and Coors beers versus what we came for: craft beers or imports. This immediately gives the impression this Turtle is interested in the 21-26 crowd which is something they should reconsider based on all the office towers in the neighborhood, the Westin across the street and other good establishments in the neighborhood. My suggestion is they immediately have at least one better beer available for happy hour or we just won't be going back even with our office 2 blocks away. And, the tables need to have ALL their beers listed because as our server told us, the menus are "from corporate" and only list some beers and have a list that's wrong at that. On the plus side, the convenience of this new Greene Turtle is hard to beat and the pretzel app with spicy cheese was fantastic. But what does bar food go with, good beer, not the ones you have for $2 at happy hour, the kind I don't drink anymore.
(2)Cory R.
I have been here twice, both times for sporting events. It is definitely a sports bar, and if you are looking for a place in Ballston to watch a game or a fight, it's not a bad place to go. The staff seemed friendly. I got the buffalo chicken dip when I went and it was actually very good. They have tv's all over the bar, and they even have some smaller tv's at some of the tables. Overall a decent place!

After a waste of my time meeting, I need I big tasty cocktail some food. They had just open for and were still setting, but the bartender made sure that I was taken care of. My cocktails and sandwich (chicken chesapeake) hit the spot. If you like the other Greene Turtle locations, you will like this one also.
(3)Jamie R.
Serious disappointment. Second time eating here. Food is just plain awful. Ordered a burger with onion straws. They were cold and soggy and the burger, undercooked, tasted burnt. This place needs some serious work on the food.
(1)Matt G.
This location is complete and utter garbage. I have never been to a place as poorly managed as this. I have been 4-5 times, expecting that in between visits, that they will work out the kinks. It seems to be getting worse, honestly. The wait staff is non-existent as pretty much wherever you sit, you are left to fend for yourself. Our group went to watch a football game with a noon kickoff and the bartenders were completely overwhelmed (2 bartenders on a gameday??). Despite calling ahead 3 times in the week warning them that the game was internet only and being assured it will be on, they began trying to set up the stream halfway thru the 1st quarter (the time we left). Management is clueless. Save your time and money and never go to this dump which is sad since given its layout and location, it has potential.
(1)Charles W.
After a good start, every subsequent trip has been more and more underwhelming. Weirdly designed and aesthetically cold. The food is middling. The servers are good though, so there's that.
(3)Trey P.
while the food is only so-so, the service here is awful for dining (bar service during happy hour is good) this turtle is in the building next to me so convenient for lunch, but every time I have gone to lunch it takes 1.5+ hours. there are plenty of servers from the looks of it, so maybe its a kitchen issue. even the times we've gone in a group of 4 (sometimes we have a 8 person lunch, yes those take longer) it just been absurd how long it takes. buffalo wild wings is opening right next door this month so maybe turle will step up their game?
(1)Leah K.
Lazy staff. Hostess repeatedly ignored everyone waiting to be seated and then started yakking on the phone. The place had flies and it smelled like rotten eggs/dirty restroom in there.

I'm a frequent guest at the Westin across the street, and I happened to wander in on a Monday night for a quick drink around 8 pm. The restaurant was deserted, but the bar itself was nearly full with a couple open stools. This place had TVs everywhere... including each individual table. The sound from all the TVs was kind of ridiculous in the dining area, but the bar was manageable. I suppose having control of your own TV would be nice, but I was just there because I wanted a drink, and I like drinking in a bar. What I hate, though, is being forced to sit with my back to a room. This place has an L-shaped bar in the corner of the room... which means that you have a great view of the wall directly in front of you... pretty boring. The beer menu was just okay. Nothing too out of the ordinary... Bud Light, Stella, Yuengling, Guiness, etc. I wish they had more microbrews or something different. After one beer, I had no desire to stay for another. Overall, this place seemed like it was some sort of a cousin to a Buffalo Wild Wings, but a little more douchey. Now that I know what they're all about, I probably won't be back. Front Page might be a better option if you are looking for a sports bar.
(2)Brenden J.
Really solid Happy Hour - it's a shame Arlington won't let us know what it is. As a non-liker of beer who prefers Liquor, GT's $2 rail Happy Hour is right up my alley.

Great service!!! My wife, daughter and I wandered by and decided to give it a try. Its a terrific sports bar with TV's at every table, and also happens to be good for kids. The food was very good, and my daughter's meal was free! But most impressive was the service - much better than you would expect from a sports bar. The hostess, waitresses, and manager were all extremely courteous with big smiles and very prompt service without being overbearing. Great place for a great value. We'd definitely go again!
(5)ReNata B.
Had lunch at The Greene Turtle. My mac and cheese was amazing. Friends had the fish tacos and shrimp tacos and loved them. Fantastic wait staff. Had a hard choice deciding what to order-- so many good things to choose from. Will be returning soon!
(5)Allan B.
I wish I could go more, but some of their better food is not good if you are looking at keeping the calories down. The crabby melt is wonderful! Very tasty menu!
(4)Chris R.
It's down the block from my house and I had a coupon, so we decided to check it out. We were turned off immediately by the lack of good happy hour beer specials when we're accustomed to $3 premium beers and microbrews at great happy hour spots in Clarendon, like Lyon Hall. I grimaced through some Yuenglings and spent a long time looking at the menu for appetizers, but really didn't see anything reasonably priced and appealing. I think the dozen wings were something like $13, which is just not a good value. When we tried to find a table to grab some dinner, we found that the outside seating was a mess. There was no busboy and the hostess was relegated to clearing tables, where she had fallen far behind. We got one story about seating ourselves from her, and another from a waitress, and finally just plopped down at a table piled with leftover food and trash from another group. We rolled with it, but when I looked hard at the menu I saw a long list of generic TGI Friday's-type food and pretty much decided I didn't want any of it. Ended up sharing a salad. I won't return here for happy hour or for a meal. There are too many other options close by.
(2)Chris G.
Very slow service. Food medium terrible. Burgers overcooked.
(1)Greer H.
Great food, but the service is not great. There is a waitress that works in the bar area who has a horrible attitude and is slow to bring your order (if she remembers at all). I have had to speak with the manager about her twice. Otherwise the bar is a fun environment especially during South Carolina games.
(3)Mark W.
Good place to hang out. Usually lots of people there
(3)Sab s.
The Arlington Greene Turtle is across the street from where I live, so I have been there three times so far. It is what it is. A sports bar with bar food. It does get pretty noisy. The service is slow and the servers don't really know the menu yet. Our server had to go to the kitchen a couple times to ask about menu items.
(3)Marco C.
The food was way too salty. I had the crab dip with pretzels and turkey bbq club sandwich. They were both laden with salt.
(1)Mel S.
First let me start by saying they have tvs at every table, but they only play sports channels including ESPN. I have had the crabby melt 3 times and it's still amazing!!! If you love REAL lump crab meat, cheese, and bacon then you will love this sandwich as well. Only think is it comes with chips not fries. It's $.99 extra to swap for fries :( The buffalo chicken sandwich is great as well!!!! Second, KIDS EAT FREE w/ adult entree but everytime I go the waiters act like they didn't know. Everytime I go I ask if my child's meal is free and the waiter says classically "I think so, I'm not sure, but I'll double check. However, if you go on the website it says in big bright bold letter "kids eat free." Now I don't blame the waiters, I blame the management for not making that a clear cut piece of information to know and to tell to customers. I have noticed that back when they first opened the waiters knew, but now with new waiters in and out they do not know most of the time. Last thing, the crab pizza (appetizer) is not good at all to taste. It's basically crab slob put on a flat bread and sprinkled with old bay seasoning. It's definitely missing a culinary touch. It needs chopped tomato pieces, bacon, maybe chives, or something. It's just so plain and so bland. Service could be faster but they are not as slow as other places. I'd say medium service speed. Good for families, good for business meetings, and good for a lunch date. There's barely any parking, so it's better to walk or park somewhere in the area and walk or park in the ballston mall parking garage and walk across the street to the restaurant. Hopes this helps! :)
(3)Kirstan L.
My boyfriend and I agreed to never come back to this Greene Turtle after our service last night. We had four different servers, which felt as if no one wanted to take care of us. One of them, who we assume was the manager, never came back to us after he sat us outside. I saw him on my way to the bathroom on his phone and he didn't seem to see the spilled ketchup on the floor. Anyway, we ordered two rounds of drinks - he got a jack & coke and I got a Long Island. There was no consistency in the drink making process - the second round tasted different from the first. And getting our check was a struggle. When we were first seated, I gave them my card to swipe and have on file. When we finally caught a waiter's attention to pay the tab, he had to take my card and swipe it again because whatever server who took it when we sat down didn't do it right the first time. Especially in an up and coming neighborhood like Ballston, customer experience is everything. I was underwhelmed with the wait staff. I can't speak on the food, and unfortunately I won't be returning to find out.
(1)Dan H.
I went to Green Turtle with several friends for the Women's World Cup final game. Admittedly, we made the decision to dine here after it was too busy at another sports bar. We were seated right away. As sports fan, having your own personal TV at the table is nice and gives everyone a good view of the game. There are also plenty of TVs mounted around the restaurant as well. We ordered appetizer specials including the chicken strips, loaded potatoes, and boneless wings. The strips and wings were okay, but the potatoes were very salty. Overall, a decent dining experience, elevated by the fact a great game between USA and Japan.

I've been to this Greene Turtle 10+ times in the 2 years I've lived in Arlington. It's about 3/4 mile from my house so it's an easy walk if I choose to go that route. It's easy enough to get to with a cheap parking garage underneath the building if you want to drive! GT has unfortunately gone down in customer-experience a little for me in the past few months. For starters, they changed the happy hour for the worse. They split the happy hour food up into $3, $5, and $7 (Used to all be $5) which is fine, but the drink specials really took a hit. It used to be $4 single mixed drinks from 5-9 pm and now it only goes until 7 pm. This being the place my friends and I liked to frequent to get cheap drinks, it really bummed all of us out knowing we'd have 2 less hours to drink here. Another unfortunate change was the format of the trivia on Tuesday nights. I think most places in the area have conformed to using the same format. 3 to 4 questions per round with rotating categories, and a bonus at the end. It used to be about 10 rounds of 10 or so questions with a specific category for each - and then there were chances for bonus points between each round. Getting used to the new format but it was an unwelcomed change. This review isn't all doom and gloom. I maintain that the best chicken tenders I ever ate were from Greene Turtle. The way they fry them is amazing - they are ALWAYS crisp and juicy and the sweet BBQ sauce that comes with the tenders is on point. These are tough to beat during happy hour when they're only 5 bucks. Another positive for GT is the amount of TV's on the walls. They're everywhere and the screens are often showing different things at one time - depending what season for sports it is. Even though my love for GT has waned lately, this is still a great option for a few cheap drinks and eats if you can get there for HH.
(3)Ziv B.
I have had the fish tacos and they were thoroughly ok, they use tilapia which is part of the problem. I had the chili the next time I was there. It was kind of bland as was the chicken wrap. They do have Dogfish Head 60 on tap, which was nice. The main reason I keep going back is that the Ballston Green Turtle has a car charger in the parking garage and some days I can use a few extra kWh's of electricity for my electric car.
(2)Scott M.
Green Turtle is always a great place for bar food and cheap drinks on tap. The "spiked" strawberry lemonade was amazing $7.99 and 4.99 refills You can be guaranteed there will be some type of special going on. There was a corn hole tournament on Thursday night outside.

***3.5 stars for a beer, a margarita and the buffalo chicken nachos*** We were early for a party and decided to stop here for a quick drink. I wasn't sure if the food at the party was going to be plentiful or good, so we erred on the 'safe' side and just had nachos. I've only been to one other Greene Turtle in Fells Point and I liked it there even though the vibe that night was very bro-ish. I digress. Me and the hub sat at the bar and the bartender was nice, she gave us space, but was always nearby to make sure we could get help if needed. The margarita was good. It hit the spot, but wasn't anything that would make me say it was one of the best. It wasn't too tart or sweet and the tequila was noticeable enough to tell me the bartender isn't heavy handed or a skimper. The nachos came hot and crispy. I was a little skeptical as many of my friends dislike TGT, but our experience was good. I thought the buffalo chicken dip with the melted cheese was tasty and savory. If I were to ever stop into another TGT, I would order it again. I'm glad my visit was not negative and would be open to having drinks here again.

I wouldn't even give our experience at this location one star, but I was required to. I went here with a group of 8 people for an organized watch party & would never recommend it to anyone I know. First, when we realized the bar area, where the watch party & specials were, was already almost full, we requested a table. The manager made it seem like we were putting her out. After confirming numerous times that we didn't mind having a server instead of ordering at the bar, she reluctantly allowed us to sit at a table & gave us menus. Our server didn't even greet us before demanding it know how we were planning on splitting the check, then became disgruntled when we told her one check was fine. After placing drink & appetizer orders, she delivered everything to one end of the table & made us pass everything down. Additionally, the wings that were ordered as "Kinda Hot" were so extremely spicy that we weren't even able to eat them. The server never cleared finished plates, bottles or cups, to the point that we didn't even have enough room for our entrees, but she didn't seem to mind. When anything was requested of her: a refill of water, a side of ranch, to clear a plate, she responded with annoyance & attitude. After waiting at least 30 minutes after finishing out meal, without any follow-up from our server, we finally managed to flag her down to get the check. Upon delivering the check, she, again, informed us that "She would absolutely not accept multiple cards for the bill" & walked away. The employees at this location need to be re-trained on the service industry unless you want this business to fail.

Surprisingly good gem in Ballston. Looks like every other Arlington Sports Bar, but it's better. Very large space inside and out, TVs everywhere, quality food, extensive menu, good service for the most part, great management. Suggest you skip the Wings place and go here instead.
(5)ML C.
Came the second time order the same "Hog Hammers" and the quality still the same , flavors, texture...makes you sing. Thanks to my server Rocio, she let me have a taste of the BBQ slaw. In my opinion the BBQ slaw need to be has staple on the salads section...is amazing and is unique. Highly recommended...again.

We went to the Greene Turtle to try something different that we don't have in San Diego while on a business trip. The menu was decent and I would have loved to try some of their deep fried, or cheesy choices but I opted for a grilled shrimp salad with blue cheese crumbles and vinagrette. The shrimp was kind of salty for my taste and it was overloaded with blue cheese. Personal preference though, if you like that much blue cheese then go for it! We also ordered the cheesy crab tator tots (i'm not sure what they were called). They were ok, I would probably eat another one if someone else was to order it, but I wouldn't order them myself. The service was great. No complaints there. The bathrooms were clean, the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly. They were hosting a trivia night which was interesting... There are plenty of TV's if you were wanting to watch sports. Being a big football fan myself, I would definitely be ok going back here when a game is on.

This review is on the wings. Had 12 wings on a Sunday afternoon. Go to Buffalo Wild Wings 3 doors down if you want wings! I tried 6 Buffalo wings and 6 Garlic Parmesan wings and the whole order was basically dry and the sauces and seasonings never stood out. I also received Ranch dressing with the order. The waitress never asked if I wanted Ranch or Blue Cheese so I assumed it came with Blue Cheese. Wrong. How in the world does a standard order of wings come with Ranch!?? Blue Cheese should come standard!

So I've been coming here for trivia on Wednesday nights. The trivia is pretty fun, and moves relatively quickly, but the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like no matter how far away you get from the door it's really cold inside. The service is pretty poor. It's usually not super busy, but it takes forever to get a server's attention, and then from there it takes a long time to get drinks, food, etc., if you get it at all without asking a second time. The food is fine. I wish they had some other healthy options besides the veggie wrap, although I do really like that wrap. If they didn't have trivia I wouldn't go here.
(2)Richell L.
Here for the first time with family and the burgers were great! We all enjoyed our meal. We did come in to the restaurant before another family that was served by the same waitress as we were. Other than that it was great!
(4)Greg W.
I only go here to watch the UFC fights. Honestly, I'm not sure how they stay in business. The bar is usually dead & the food is terrible. Some nights can get pretty ghetto so watch out. Fried mozzarella sticks - they aren't even sticks. They are half moons. Way too much cheese & grease. Gross! Chicken strips - typical, not great not bad. Mini crab cake bites - disgusting. They cake on the breading so it drowns out the taste of the blue crab. Typical nasty bar food. Beer selection is basic domestic beers.
(2)Tracy D.
Came to this location for NYE dinner with a bunch of friends. I could def see myself coming to this place to watch a game or something. Seems pretty chill and service was good. I shared the spicy meatball flatbread and smokey bbq wings with a friend. Both of these were yummy. There were many items I want to try on the menu so I will def be coming back to try more!

How I heard of this place: Our new friend Laurie recommended it to us in an email, after finding out that we were on the lookout for good food in our neighborhood. Type of cuisine: Appetizers including a plethora of fried and sodium-rich pub-grub, sandwiches, burgers, soups & salads, and entrees, including baby back ribs, crab cakes, T-bone steak, fish 'n chips, and mac & cheese. Ambiance: We walked up to the very corporate-looking, windowed building hosting The Green Turtle, and were first greeted by the extensive patio seating available for outdoor dining. Heavy, tiled tables accompanied by matching, luxurious high-backed chairs. We made our way around the patio and through the glass doors to a dark space, only natural light and the two hundred illumined television screens lit the dining room. Wooden chairs pressed against green marbled tables in wooden frames, tiled floors, tall ceilings and sports paraphernalia, including banners, photographs, frames of news articles and jerseys, on every wall and yellow or green pillar throughout the establishment. The bar, at our far left, other than the tall bar seating against long, cafeteria style tables, had the same look and feel of the entire establishment - a sports-watchers haven for any game. What I ordered: Having given our friends, Darrell & Deb the choice between three of our neighborhood eateries, we agreed on this burger joint for our Sunday brunch hour get-together. We started with two appetizers: Bacon Cheeseburger Flatbread Pizza ($9.49), certified Angus Beef® deliciously blended with hardwood smoked bacon, sharp cheddar, diced pickles, onion and tomato served over a tangy Terrapin sauce on baked flatbread, and the Loaded Waffle Fries ($7.99) topped with warm and creamy queso dip, chopped bacon, grape tomatoes and fresh scallions. For our main entrees, My husband and I shared the Bacon & Cheddar Stuffed Burger ($10.49), hardwood smoked bacon and cheddar charbroiled in the center and topped with crispy onion straws, sautéed mushrooms, creamy Dijon mayonnaise and A.1.® Steak Sauce. Darrell enjoyed the Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich ($14.49), handmade daily with all lump crabmeat then broiled and served on a soft potato roll. Deb, with her dietary restrictions ordered the Sirloin Steak ($13.99), an 8-ounce USDA Choice Sirloin steak, butterflied (at her request) char-grilled with a side of green beans. A round of "Sweeteas" ($ each) and we were happy campers! What I loved: The Cheeseburger Flatbread was my absolute favorite. An amazingly uncanny version of a cheeseburger, pickles included, eaten like a pizza. The two best things in the pub world in one bite. Yum. Why I loved it: Excellent company, a huge space with only one other party in the establishment, and staff ready to serve. Cost: Average ($9-$18 per entree)

Pros: - mini basketball hoop to recapture your arcade aspiration and your inner child. - mini TV on each booth. - chicken tenders (appetizer section) - happy hour specials on beer Cons: - indifference service - lighting is too dim inside - seats/tables dirty Recommendation: go for the beer and the chicken tenders. And try to beat the high score (57) on the mini basketball hoop.

Reviews stand pretty steady for what they have to say about this place. I can't say that I particularly care for it or the service. Food was cheap and so were their $2 rails which come with more alcohol in them than juice. Thank goodness.... I needed the alcohol for this horrible date. The Greene Turtle is huge. By my understanding it is one of their bigger locations. I think it is a nice space for watching the game and getting together with large group of friends since there are several large tables including booths and high tops. The booths all have tvs in them where you can adjust the channel and volume accordingly. It is too overwhelming with the amount of noise that rolls through the restaurant. What you get in a turtle shell (pun intended....) 1. Sports bar 2. Cheap drinks 3. Cheap eats It works for some who like these kinds of joints, but for yelpers who like a little higher class probably not so much. It serves the pure purpose of why it is there. I also think it is fitting for Ballston.

I got the chicken Caesar wrap and my mom and sister each got a burger. Everyone liked their meal. Great service (Delvin was our server) and we loved sitting in the outside dining area. Great lemonade!

I went to meet friends for something social on a Friday evening. I ordered the American Burger, which came with french fries. The food was tasty, served hot, and the service was friendly, prompt and excellent. If this were the only part of my experience, I would happily give it a 5-star rating. However, the live entertainment was so loud and so bad that we were completely unable to converse with each other. It ruined our evening. If we hadn't already ordered we would have left. If you go, order something simple, like the burgers. I'm sure it will be good. But be absolutely sure that the live entertainment is taking the night off.

I write this on minute 37. 37 minutes have passed since I've ordered my fried pickles. I didn't think that fried pickles are all that complicated. I'm pretty sure you just take some pickles, and fry them. But what do I know? I'm just a guy sitting on a bar stool getting all salty about the absence of former cucumbers slathered in grease in my life. Minute 40. I walked over to some colleagues across the bar, accepting the fact that my night would not involve consuming cholesterol spears. They informed me that the service was slow for all of them. One relayed a rather gut-wrenching experience of waiting 35 minutes for boneless chicken wings. Boneless! Do you even have to cook those? Minute 42. I return to the bar. My pickles arrive. They taste like fried pickles. I have to wonder what kind of adventure between the jar and fryer took nearly three quarters of an hour. I hope that during the journey, my pickles accomplished some Herculean efforts and stopped by the local community center for some volunteer work. One star for fried pickles that taste like fried pickles. Two stars for $3 rail drinks.

I've visited The Greene Turtle twice now (both times in the past 2 weeks) and have eaten there both times. Though the food is decent, it's pretty much just standard bar food. I do like that they have a lot of variety on the menu - burgers, sandwiches, flatbread pizza, standard bar appetizers like hot wings, etc. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 is that I liked the variety of the food/drinks. I've ordered both the Cowboy burger (Basted in Smoky BBQ sauce, topped with hardwood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and crispy onion straws) and the Spicy Jack Stuffed Burger (Jalapeños, pepper jack and cheddar cheese stuffed in the middle and topped with fresh slices of avocado, corn salsa and cilantro ranch dressing). I've also ordered the boneless smoky BBQ hot wings with ranch dressing. I like that they have a number of sauce choices for the hot wings, including: Mild, Kinda Hot, Blazing Hot, Smoky BBQ, Golden BBQ, Maryland, Chipotle, Jerk, Spicy Thai Chili, Garlic Parmesan. It's also nice that they have a bone-in and boneless option, as well as the option to order 6, 8, 12, 16 or 18 wings (depending on whether you get bone-in or boneless). You can also get your choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing as a dip. There are plenty of TVs and plenty of seating for game day, although this place has large windows through which the sunlight streams and contributes a glare to the visibility of the TVs. The drinks aren't that great - I ordered a mimosa and it came out in a plastic cup and was super bitter... very disappointing. I've had better $3 mimosas elsewhere. I've also had their house wine (recipe for disaster, right?) and it was also not great. The service can be very mixed. The first time I visited (on a Friday night with a somewhat large group), the service was actually decent - our waitress was quick to take our orders and bring our food out and was friendly. The second time, however, the service was pretty awful. Granted it was a Sunday football day, we waited to be seated for about 10 minutes. After that, we waited another 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence at the booth where they seated us. The service continued to be really slow. I think it took about an hour for our orders to come out (and there were just 5 of us). There are tons of other sports bars in Ballston and The Greene Turtle will likely not be my first choice in the future.

If I could give ZERO stars for today's visit, I would. While the food was decent, there were inconsistencies with items and menu descriptions, and the service was absolutely horrid! We were there for the AFC championship game and we're seated at a table of 12. With a large table, a server needs to be organized. Our server had no system of remembering who ordered what. While waiting for our drink orders, some of our food actually showed up before our drinks. Some of us never got our drinks, even after reminding our waitress more than once, when we went for almost 45 minutes without receiving them. She would bring out 3 drinks at a time for a table of twelve. She giggled and said she forgot one friend's lemonade at one point, didn't bother to apologize, and then took another 20 minutes to bring it. Our waitress seemed to think that she could smile and flirt her way to a tip despite crappy service. She also spilled whatever on my jacket and chair and giggled, without an apology. The "Browne sundae" which was described as having Reese's pieces and peanut butter sauce, had neither. The brownie was dry. We ordered it at halftime of the first game and joked that the ice cream would likely be melted as it showed up with about 2 minutes to go in the game. At the same time, another guest at our table ordered a basket of fries and never received them. Lastly two guests at out table order the same item. One was delivered to our table with a noticeably larger portion, as well as a side of cole slaw, that the other did not have. And when I say larger portion, I mean that one chicken tender basket had twice as many pieces as the other. Is anyone in the kitchen expediting or doing any sort of quality control? The last straw was when we tried to get our checks. Our server had no idea what anyone had ordered. Each person had to remind her what they ordered separately. Yes, she had two large tables on a busy afternoon, but that's poor management. They should have given her some help. She had no system of taking orders. That's poor training. We'll never go back to Greene turtle ballston again.

The only reason that I've even eaten here more than once is because this is where Virginia Tech's Executive MBA holds our lunches. Their wings are actually pretty decent and raise my review from two to three stars. And, the shrimp tacos are the dish to beat. Their burger was just so so. The meat was kind of flavorless and the bun was quite dry. I drowned it in ketchup and got some slices of avocado to add some moisture back into it. The chicken in the Fleet Street Chicken tasted like burning. ( youtu.be/z0kVbXvId3A ) But, seriously. It was over cooked and the only flavor that I could taste was that carbon, burnt taste. I've also had the Blackened Tilapia. That was just very meh. On Saturdays at dinner, they have a live band. One might think that's a great thing. The problem is, I had no idea what he was singing half of the time. It became a game that I played. It usually took the chorus to get me there. I'm not sure how their bar is. The place is great for watching a game as their are tvs everywhere that you could want one.

I've been here several times. The food is pretty good for bar food. Normally the service is good. Tonight I sat down in the bar area. It was busy because trivia was going on. A few servers walked right by me, but no one brought a menu or asked if I wanted a drink, so I left after 20 minutes of sitting there and walked next door to Buffalo Wild Wings. I was greeted and served immediately there.

I'm only giving this place two stars because the crab cakes are pretty good & the drink specials are good. But the times I've come here the service is AWFUL, if you get seated don't expect a waiter/waitress to tend to you for about 10 minutes at the earliest, & this is not even on a packed night. I've come here three times, same result. Yesterday a waitress didn't tend to us for about 15 minutes..& when she finally came to the table, she said "hey I'll be with you shortly"...No "hey would you like a drink?". Didn't see her again for about 10 minutes. Make sure you ask for everything you need the moment you get a server's attention because it's no telling how long it will be before you see them again.

Out of all the places in Ballston area, whatever you do, DO NOT walk in here or the place next door (buffalo wild wings). The first and last time we came here about a couple weeks ago, the waiter told me 10 minutes, we didn't get seated for 30 minutes. Then when we went to go sit...there were empty tables!!! What the hell! Our waiter was a complete jerk, he definitely hates his life and took it out on us. You can tell he didn't want to be there and wanted to go home. He took forever with drinks and everytime I looked over to get his attention he was on his phone or talking to his friends. I got the cowboy burger with bbq sauce, bacon and onion strings with fries. As good as it sounded, it was a dissappointment. It was overcooked, almost burnt and it came with like 2 strings of onion strings. Ugh just a horrible experience overall. Whatever you do, don't come here, save your money!!!!

It's hard to write a review because we actually didn't get any service after a fifteen minute wait. Not even water , or a "hey, would you like to eat smth? 'Cause we're a restaurant and stuff..."). I would have thought the screaming baby may have clued them in that we had at least one hungry member in our family, but the wait staff was either busy with other customers or watching TV. We eventually left, followed by a childless couple who was also being ignored (so it's not just that they don't like kids, they're just not particularly good at customer service. The 1-star is because GT as a whole has some decent items, assuming they allow you to order it. Didn't happen today, though.

A friend and I stumbled across this location while trying to find somewhere to grab food after getting off late. He's not from here, but I am familiar with Green Turtle only because of being raised near UMD, but since I hadn't been in a while I figured let's give this location a shot. We didn't eat heavy but we had some beers and shared the crab dip. Saying it was delicious doesn't do it justice. It came in a piping hot skillet with soft pretzels instead of tortilla chips which made it a lot more filling. It was also reasonably priced. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars because I believe I need to come back and try out the main entrees to give a better review.

Wings are subpar, on the same level as pizza huts. Chilli Nachos were lacking cheese and rather soggy.

Delvin was a great server! He was very attentive to our needs and the food and drinks were very promptly served after placing our order!

Food: Fried Mozzarella: If you have had fried mozzarella before you know what this is all about. Kinda hard to mess that up. Basic. Chicken Strips: I like the breading they used for these. The sauce that comes with these, Golden BBQ, is a damn good sauce. I would even say that they would make a good choice as a wing sauce. Jerk Wings: I wasn't expecting a dry wing. That is my fault as I should have asked ahead of time. They were basic. If you get the wings and can take a little heat, I would suggest getting the Spicy Thai sauce. He has good flavor and a nice kick. Workers: Constantly checking in making sure we were fine. No complaints. Atmosphere: Walked in here on a Saturday Night ready to see UFC 170. There was a Metal COver band performing right before the 10:00 hour. They were annoying at first because I wasn't expecting them to be there but after a while they starting hitting recognizable songs so it wasn't that bad. I enjoy each table having a private TV. I was able to watch basketball on my tv while UFC was on the big tv. Nice touch. If you are in Arlington and need somewhere to watch UFC, go here. Solid bar.

Normally I like Greene Turtle, but this location.. not so much. My husband, son, and I came to GT for lunch last weekend, we were promptly seated but after 15 minutes no one had stopped at our table, not even a drink order. I'll be the first to tell you, I've worked in several restaurants and I know how it is when its busy, but our experience was beyond unacceptable. In the area we were seated in I watched two other tables get seated in the time we were there. There was a young couple that was seated next to us after a few minutes (who also left because no one ever stopped at their table) And then a few min later another couple was seated at a table across from us. I watched the THIRD table that was seated order their drinks, get their drinks, and order their food. I don't care if I was not in that servers section, he looked right at us several times and could have stopped by our table and flagged down our server. There were plenty of staff members that walked past our table multiple times that should have been able to see that we were waiting so long without as much as a drink order, including several servers, and what appeared to be a manager standing around watching the game (and you'd think the screaming hungry kid would bring a little bit more attention our way. ) Needless to say I was very disappointed, I really wanted crab dip... When we left we drove around a bit and stumbled apron ATR in Clarendon and they were GREAT! Awesome service, good food, and the best kids menu I've seen, but I still did not get my crab dip..

I don't know how this Greene Turtle location is still in business. It is almost completely empty every single time I go in. I find the bar is a typical bar and the beer selection decent, but the food is not good at all and the service is very hit or miss. I have had excellent servers/bartenders and extremely horrible servers here (one server even rudely argued with me when I mentioned to him that the beer he brought me was not what I ordered and then later apologized saying that it was, in fact, poured from the wrong tap). The management seems to be transient and you can tell. On one occasion, I was charged for my tab three times and when I called to get it fixed, I was told that there was no manager at the moment because they were all in training...what? I give this place two stars instead of one because a) it is usually clean b) they have a decent cornhole space c) I get pretty decent specials through my recreational sports league. The verdict is that while GT isn't the worst bar in town, I avoid it unless there is some sort of event going on that forces me to go there.
(2)Matt K.
They were out of the majority of food on the menu. Then when we did order food it took almost an hour to get it. Will never go to this location again.

Went here once, don't plan on returning. I got the fish and chips on a Saturday night. Most of the restaurant was empty, but there was live music. It was very loud, and not really my thing, but I guess the other couple people there seemed to be there for it. The food started out okay, and went to bad. First fish strip was good. It wasn't amazing, but it tasted good. Second was very stringy and had very little meat in it. Third was nothing but batter. Just a chunk of fried batter with zero fish in it. Fries were bland. Arlington has countless restaurants every where around this place. I'd never recommend here just because of that. If this was the only restaurant in town, sure I'd come back. But its not, there's much better options in Ballston, VA Square and Clarendon, to the point where I wouldn't even recommend trying it once.

Came here spur of the moment for Wednesday "District Trivia" night. I was very nervous at the idea of drinking a few beers while having to think and answer tough trivia questions. Bad idea in my mind. However I got over my aversion and it was pretty fun actually. The trivia host had jokes, good personality and the questions were so random that it was comical. Service was to be desired. Perhaps our server was in a bad mood or something and really did not want to be there that night. She never smiled and was very short and brief with our group of four. Trying to be somewhat health conscious, I ordered the Southwest Chicken Chopped Salad. The romaine lettuce was beyond chopped, beyond diced, it was masticated!! I just realized they forgot the onion straws...I was looking forward to those. The only thing "Southwest" about the salad was the corn. Not the best salad. Friends ordered chicken fingers, fries and burger sliders. Standard bar food, no complaints. $3 domestic beers until 9pm, Bud Lite, Coors Lite (I think) and Yuengling. If you're not a trivia pro - no big deal. Just get as many of your friends together and check it out. I don't think they have a limit on team size, but I could be mistaken. One table had about 14 people on 1 team. Really!? All in all - I plan to go back for another trivia night.

What do you expect out of your sports bar? A bunch of TVs? Decent food? Good beer specials? That's exactly what you'll get from The Greene Turtle. I'd go so far as to say their food is slightly above average for an establishment of this category. What I've had: - Crab Cake Sandwich. You won't find a cheaper one anywhere else. It isn't the best I've ever had, but also not the worst. - Pulled Pork Sandwich. Very tasty. - Boneless Wings w/ Garlic Parmesan sauce. "Squishy" and not very good. I'd go with regular wings and a different sauce next time. - Fries. Not my style. "Regular" fries that could use a bit more time under the oil. Like the boneless wings, they were a bit "squishy," but seemed pretty fresh. For lunch, my bill was $11, which is pretty cheap for a full-service establishment in this area. Being in the new VT building in Ballston, this bar is touting itself as a VT and Redskins bar. Yes, they do have a "Mug Club." No, I don't know parking details as this is located in an office building and street parking is usually not too available. My guess is you're on your own for a public parking garage... That is kind of lame :/
(3)Tom G.
3.5 stars. Fairly typical sports bar with a number of TVs, good beers on tap and typical bar food, although the menu was extensive. It was very wide open and the shouts of people enjoying football on the other side, seemed to echo through the place. Wouldn't be my first choice.
