Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

This place is a dirty hole in the wall (-1 star) but if you want a great gyro in Arlington this is your spot, though not the best one I've ever had (-1 star). French fries might actually be the best you'll ever have though. Seriously. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Get carry out and get excited for yummy Greek food from a very non-Greek family. Bonus if you go in to pick up, check out the ceiling!!! Btw the best gyro I've had is in Queens, NYC

I ordered a delivery of a chicken parm and a small pizza. The delivery time was good. For me,this is a duable bite. The taste wasn't really kickin' and kind of lacked it a tiny bit,but I'm ok with it. .....Step ya sauce game up :) .....This isn't enough for a full all round review because it seems like this place has allot more to offer... but this is just my experience on my first order.
(3)Eric L.
They have a large menu... a really large menu. I just ordered the pizza with a couple toppings. I dont want to say it was bad... but I definetely wasnt happy with the way it was made. It somehow just tasted more like dough than toppings and all the good stuff I want on it. Owner was there and he was friendly. Nice mustache. The place has potential to be great and I would like to change something up because it is a great location just not exciting pizza.
(2)Alison M.
Nothing fresh and exciting here, but solid food and cheap delivery. Fries are super crispy and arrived hot.
(4)David G.
Visited completely at random while visiting the area from out of town. The pizza and french fries were great. Pizza had just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The french fries were nice and crispy. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Live potted ivy along the ceiling invokes a sense of sitting outside under a grapevine trellis. Would certainly eat here again!

Ordered half beef half pepperoni large pizza at 11:42pm and it got here at 1:13am. So it was a nice option late at night. Pizza was well seasoned and tasted fine, just a slight bit cold. Would order again during more normal business hours.

Oh no. No. The French onion soup tastes like sewer water - the onions weren't even cooked properly. The bread in it had the consistency of being heated in a microwave - tough, chewy, hard to swallow. I also got the chicken florentine pasta. The little chicken in it was bland and the sauce was so tasteless I had to add a ton of salt. The spinach in the dish tastes like it was thawed and from a box. Garlic bread was free but they can keep it. Not delicious. And Certainly not worth the $15.95 they charge for it. Not even close. Terrible food. I have never been so disappointed. I will say though, that the delivery guy was super sweet. And the food was still got when I got it, which I super appreciated. And after reading some of the other reviews I understand that this is a family owned local business so I will give it another try to support them, I was just super disappointed tonight.

It's polar vortex season so I apologize in advance that my next barrage of reviews will only be about take out and delivery restaurants. This island girl has no love for the cold. Pros: * An extensive take out menu that includes everything from wings, pizza, and sandwiches to Greek and Turkish specialties *They have curly fries (with extra long ringlets) *You can order everything online so you never have to talk to a human being (perfect for anti-social, hungry types like me) *Delivery is REALLY fast. Not to mention free. *Reasonable prices Cons: *I'm not trying to be uppity, but the food just isn't that great. I consider myself a bit of an expert on inexpensive, hole-in-the-wall delivery joints and Mom's just isn't anything to write home about. The food is soggy (due to improper packaging), the texture is off, and everything is drenched in a terrible smelling sauce. I'm going to stick to Bangkok 54 and Dominoes for take out.
(3)James L.
This review is for their pizza. Definitely didn't satisfy the pizza craving. TLDR: very dry, not nearly enough sauce. Ordered delivery and paid almost $20 for a 4 topping pizza. They only gave us three toppings. The pizza is also very dry. Lacked sauce almost entirely. I don't understand pizza places that do this. I don't ever think Ive ever eaten a pizza and said, boy that's just too much sauce...when there's not enough, its just dissapointing. If your ordering their pizza, I would ask for extra sauce on the side.

My four stars are based on the food and NOT on any of my dining experiences . The Food isn't the best Italian food I've ever tasted , but it's good enough for me to keep coming back for more ! The pizza is among one of the best in the area , and they're very generous when it comes to adding cheese , unlike the Papa John's which is a few stores away . Now , as far as the service goes , it isn't all that great ( even when it's not busy ) . The owner tries to be attentive , but he's always either on the phone taking in orders , or making sure the kitchen staff stays on point . But his job isn't to wait on people , that's why he has a server . I've been served by two different female servers on different occasions , and both of them have been mediocre at best . I've got to admit , I found both of them to be attractive , and eventhough my eyes were pleased , I would've rather they had been more attentive to my dining needs . All in all , I would recommend this place if you want to please your taste buds .

I ordered pasta (spaghetti with meat sauce) yelp.com/user_local_phot… and mozzarella sticks yelp.com/user_local_phot… from here for dinner Friday night. The pasta came with garlic bread yelp.com/user_local_phot… and a salad yelp.com/user_local_phot… . The staff member that took my order was thoughtful enough to let me know that delivery might take longer than normal due to the storms that were passing through the area. Despite the storms, my food arrived within a half an hour and everything was still piping hot. The mozzarella sticks are nothing special (tasted like the kind you can buy in the freezer section) but I thought the marinara sauce that accompanied them was great. It was sweet without being too sweet and unlike many sauces, was not overly salted. Next time I order pasta from Mom's I am going to get it with the marinara sauce instead of the meat sauce. Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything wrong with the meat sauce, I just prefer the marinara. Mom's pasta is a quick easy fix when I want delivery other than pizza or Chinese food.

Love this place. I almost always order the shish taouk dinner. Tastes great, lots of food and they serve it with an amazing tzaziki sauce. I've tried pizza, burgers, pasta, Greek salad all good. Delivery is always fast, it is free and the minimum order amount is lower than many other restaurants.

So happy I found this place! Great food, great, customer service, fast delivery and pickup! They are so friendly too!

"Family owned mom-n-pop Italian food that's almost there, not quite at the threshold of great" Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 2/5 Parking: 4/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Mom's Pizza restaurant in Arlington has been around for over 50 years and is completely family owned. The dough is made in house but I can't be sure about the remaining ingredients. The gyro, while flavorful and of good texture, is certainly not the best (best = La Plaka in Vienna) and I'm fairly certain the meat is commercial grade, not made in house. The fries are ok, the salads overly-dressed, wings are ok, pizza's good, not spectacular. However the interior décor is....drab, dated, tacky, generic, and poorly executed. There is literally a trellis with faux grape vines (everyone hates fake plants), the token fat-Italian-man-holding-menu ceramic statute with hand-written menu items, not to mention the addition of neon signs *barf*. Certainly badly in need of either an interior decorator or someone, anyone, to update this interior AND exterior AND menu AND that 1990's-style website, yikes! This may be nit-picky in the eyes of many but this isn't a rural area nor the South/Midwest - this area is highly demanding and competitive while being simultaneously populated by yuppies, hipsters, and affluent customers. As such, the restaurant must cater to this demographic. Service is friendly and attentive and delivery is fast. Prices are great and parking is fairly good with the private strip mall lot servicing all the establishments in the shopping area.

Horrible!! The young waitress had no Idea if what she was doing. She forgot our drink a couple if times when she brought refills(why didn't she bring a new cup instead of taking our only cup, beats me) Anyways I order the Ravioli a la Pana, and after getting the wrong order twice, I got the worst placent for ravioli I have ever seen, it got serve in a lasagna plate which they leave it there for you to enjoy. On top of that the Panna is nowhere close to last layer of ravioli!! Horrible

I went there to get some dinner using delivery.com and was very pleased with the owner and the quality of the food served. The meatball sub was delicious and they served high quality fresh brewed iced tea. The owner made me feel like I was visiting my grandparents house for dinner. He made sure my tea was refilled before I left. I loved the total experience. I hope to go back again.

If you would to wait over an hour and a half for your pizza and then have them deliver it to you cold and get the order wrong please order from here. They sent another pizza but it had spit in it and I would not eat it. Also, that pizza took 2 hours...maybe they forgot ?
(1)Meg T.
I'd give Mom's 3.5 if I could. The calzones are the bomb! They're also the best bang for your buck there. Greek salad was lame--really stingy with the toppings. GREAT service though!
(4)K C.
Good for a late night delivery. Fast Saturday night delivery. Food was ok, it works for 11:30 pm delivery. The Pizza, the crust, together with the light sauce, is dry in my opinion. The gyro dinner is served with a modest portion of meat and the pita bread was toasted too long. The salad accompaniment was ok. But overall not a $14 dinner If it was earlier in the evening I would pick up a Costco pizza
(2)Bruce M.
Excellent steak and cheese subs. I love their lemonade
(5)Charity B.
Is Mom's the best Italian food out there? No. But I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years and will continue to be. This is a small family owned business. If you come in a few times, they will remember you and greet you like family every time. It got to a point where they even knew me by voice when I called. I used to order a steak and cheese with fries every Friday night before heading out for a night on the town. I don't think anything else on earth prepares you better for a night of alcohol consumption than Mom's steak and cheese and greasy fries. Their pizza is ok, not great. I've had a lot of their pasta dishes and they are pretty good. The food here is more comfort food, not gourmet or authentic by any stretch. Good service, family owned business, cheap, hearty food. The cozy little dining room is actually kind of charming. Good for families. And come just to check out Mr. Mom's mustache. It's worth a visit if you're in Arlington and looking for a good, no frills meal.
(4)Jules Z.
We've ordered several times for delivery and pickup, pizza mostly, altho we've tried some of their more popular sandwiches and entrees, plus a few desserts. A couple of the pizza's were decent. It seems to be a matter of who is preparing it rather than the pizza itself. We've gotten identical orders over the last months that were completely different in quality. Several times we've received pies with almost no toppings. A sausage-mushroom pizza with 5 pieces of sausage & 16 mushrooms total. (BF counted.) A meatball pizza with 3 meatballs. etc.. Their eggplant parm sandwich is soggy and bland, with minimal cheese and sauce. If you want eggplant parm, get the panini at Astor Med.. excellent. The rice pudding came in a styro cup, the rice was undercooked and too sweet. Yuck. I don't think their pizza is good enough or cheap enough to put up with the inconsistencies. Overall, they're extremely bleh.
(2)Lia M.
We only ordered pizza from here because I had a Seemless coupon, and nothing that great delivers to me, so this appeared to be one of the better options. And we were being lazy. I did not care for the cheese pizza. Broccoli was not offered as a topping - boo. Pizza was greasy and had a strange taste. Crust was thin and not fully cooked. It was a bit greasy, and there was lots of cheese, but it needed more sauce - and I'm not a sauce fan. While I don't really care for any delivery pizza in this area, I've tried a few others, and they are (marginally) better than this one. I'd skip this place if you are just getting pizza.
(2)Sam B.
They deliver until 2am on Saturdays! $12 minimum order for delivery. I actually love the greek salad here (without any meat). It's slathered in a greek sauce and feta cheese and it's very filling. Most of the time I just get that. I ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich once and it was great too. The eggplant is breaded and baked, then they add tomato sauce and mozzarella. The sauce has a good flavor. Apple pie is my favorite and I will eat any type, but the one from Moms is pretty terrible. Veggie calzone and curly fries are also great. The chicken parmesan is huge and very good for what it is. If i'm in the mood for chicken parmesan I would just get it from this place because I really like their sauce.
(4)Ciara S.
Giving it one star because my pasta tasted good but everything else was terrible. Took forever to be delivered so it was all cold when I did finally get it. Worst of all, the bag smelled of cigarette smoke and the baklava I ordered tasted like it had been sitting in cigarette smoke all day, made me sick to my stomach. I don't know if it is the restaurant or the deliverer's fault. It's unfortunate because like I said, my pasta tasted good, thankfully it had no cigarette taste.
(1)Coco B.
Mom's Pizza Restaurant is my go-to delivery for one thing only; the Shish Taouk Dinner. It's a great helping of seasoned chicken, warm pita slices, a very feta-cheesy Greek salad, a side of crispy fries, and a ramekin of of yogurt sauce. I've tried other things on the menu, but they don't compare at all. Delivery rarely exceeds 30 minutes, and they have a number of coupons on their menu and online. I use the Buy 1, Get 1 Dinner Half Off coupon frequently for two Shish Taouk Dinners right over $20.
(3)Ross M.
If you're old and looking for a last meal before you croak, this place is for you. If you have any appreciation for good Italian food with homemade pasta, you need to avoid this place. I've done the dirty work for you. Look at my review history. I'm sick and tired of seeing all "good" Italian restaurants with white table clothes and fancy dining where they inflate the prices of pasta and tomatoes like it's oil or gold. So I'm taking a chance on dives, trying to find a good one. The waitress informed me the "homemade" pasta is NOT made there. It's made somewhere else, and they order it. So much for home made. I should have walked out, but I got some pasta. I guess I was bored. Horrible flavor, masked by cheese and oil. The meat was just ground beef. No herbs or spices or anything really. My meal did come with some garlic bread and soup, which was okay. I didn't go there to fill myself up on carbs and heavy foods though. I just want some damn pasta! I'd pass.......the quest to find a decent homemade pasta in NOVA NOT served on white table clothes continues. Someone please let me know if you find it. My face smells now. Good service, timing, convenience and portion size keeps this place from being a 1 star. LOL way to go!
(2)Stephanie J.
Ordered white pizza and tossed salad for delivery. Took an hour, which would have been fine, if my pizza wasn't seriously COLD, HARD, and DRY. And I made the rookie mistake of assuming dressing would be on the side. Instead my salad was drenched in ranch, which I could've used for my dry pizza. Won't be ordering from here again.
(2)Amber L.
This place doesn't suck--which is more than I can say for most places in the area. The food isn't the greatest, but we've ordered several time and nothing has been terrible and/or inedible. The pizza is consistent...never burned or super greasy. Even the salads and such are okay.
(3)Jason S.
My go-to order here at Mom's is the Basica Calzone. It has ricotta, provolone, and mozzarella cheese stuffed into a calzone and served with sauce. It's really really good! I've tried the veggie calzone but it doesn't pack the same impactful punch like the warm cheesy goodness, known as the Basica. :) I'm not a fan of going to an Italian restaurant and finding out that their "calzone" is literally a pizza that's been baked and then just folded in half and called a calzone. NO! That's a "pizza folded in half." That's not a calzone! Mom's calzones are formed individually and then baked so it comes out looking like a giant pocket, not like pizza crust on both sides. Just ordered one of their pizzas for the first time. It was ok, nothing to rant over, but could have definitely used more sauce. That didn't stop me from eating the entire 10 inch pizza in one sitting...but it was lacking in the sauce dept. The owner of the shop always comes over and says hi and thanks us for coming there. The place is very simple with a few tables and is decorated with plants all over the ceiling. It's no frills and comfy. On several occasions there are tables full of police officers so you know if police officers go there on a regular basis, they must be doing something right! Mom's is now on LivingSocial's takeout and delivery section! SWEET!! For every 5 online orders you place (for takeout or delivery), you receive $5 to spend on your next order. You gotta love when one of your regular eateries in the area is added to the LivingSocial app!
(4)L S.
As of 5/1/14, they're off my list for delivery. They are located 2.1 miles from my office. I called in my order at 11:50a.m. Affer calling back twice to find out where the food was, and being told the driver was on the way, the driver showed up at 1:05 claiming "no parking, no parking." This place delivered to me a couple of times before this with no problem. Additionally, people here at work order food delivered all the time without this being an issue. Yeah, parking is tight, but he could have called from his car and I would have happily come out to get the food. To be fair, when I called back to tell them I refused the cold food, I did get an apology and was told my card woul be credited. But who has time for that kind of headache in a busy workday?
(1)Ron E.
Mom's Pizza is lacking real pizza flavor and texture. Recently I had the misfortune to try Mom's Pizza while staying in Arlington, VA and found it to be an event I would not be repeating. We had ordered delivery to our room so we would not have to go back out into the DC area after a long day and while we technically received what was order we were not happy with the meal what so ever. We had placed a simple order of garlic bread sticks and a large pizza. When we received our order we found that it was bread sticks similar to what you would buy from Wal-Mart and a soggy, tasteless pizza that drooped when you picked it up. The lack of sauce on the pizza gave it a soggy bread taste that was overcooked on one side and not enough on the other. I would not recommend tempting fate by repeating my mistake.
(1)Chris K.
Extremely bad service, unfriendly, and belligerent crew! Extremely rude and aggressive delivery driver, and incompetent management! Haven't tried the food, but given my experience placing an order, waiting for it to be delivered, then never receiving it, I don't wish to try it and don't recommend the place!
(1)D R.
$10 minimum on GrubHub, and no delivery fee. I'm in. I ordered a 12" chicken parm sub ($10.45) at 2:35pm, and GrubHub estimated delivery time at 3:24pm. No-nonsense delivery guy arrived at 3:18pm with a paper bag containing a styrofoam clamshell box, which kept its contents warm enough. While pretty flavorless, the sub (see photo) was vastly improved by a copious slathering of Chick-fil-A sauce that I keep squirreled away for just such occasions. Came with a side of Utz potato chips and a rather crisp quarter-pickle spear. Comparable to Subway in deliciousness (or lack thereof), but it left me full and that's all I was out to accomplish. I'll probably not bother ordering with them again, though. 2.5 stars, but I'm a round-downer.
(2)Joye P.
Mom's Meat Lovers pizza is great! (Order with extra sauce.) The crust is better than Lost Dog's; I have done a taste test. I love ordering for pick-up when I want something quick, and it's perfect if you have hungry, easygoing guests.
(4)Lauren C.
I was in the mood for pasta and my husband for pizza. We decided to try Mom's Pizza Restaurant as it received decent reviews on Seamless. I tried the ravioli baked in cheese (Ravioli a la Panna) and my husband the Hawaiian pizza. The pasta filling was rather bland (thus very meh), and the cheese sauce overpoweringly rich, almost sickening (at least to me; my husband didn't think so). We both agreed that the pizza was actually very good, and might have become our go-to over Lost Dog had the prices been more reasonable. Don't get me wrong, I've certainly spent more than $30 on worse food, but sadly our quest for decently priced but good delivery pizza continues. Clearly that may be too much to ask for in NOVA.
(3)Kurtis D.
This is a good family owned local business. The food is good, but not great. I'd say there pizza is definitely there best item on the menu. If your looking for that local business to support this is it.
(3)Jim M.
Got the Za, on a scale of 1 to real pizza, it was frozen quality. The "large" was pretty small, the cheese lacked flavor and they must have literally gone for the thin crust because it wasn't much thicker than a piece of card board. In all honesty, you are probably better off getting some from dominos. I'd avoid this place if you are looking for some good pizza.
(1)Sande E.
I've ordered from Mom's several times now and I find it generally a-ok. The tzatziki sauce for the gyro is hit or miss as I would guess someone else makes it each time. The burgers are good but make sure you get the big burger or you will be left wondering wth? Great for a gluttonous delivery place.
(3)Robin S.
This place came recommended, so I was looking forward to giving it a try. I ordered a chicken parm sub and my husband ordered their smallest pizza, with extra cheese. MISTAKE. First of all, the chicken sub was made with what seemed to be chicken fingers, severely over cooked, and coated with not much sauce or cheese. The pizza was not much better. It had virtually no tomato sauce and was slathered in grease. I could practically see through my napkin after blotting it. Maybe this place had better Greek food than it does Italian food. But if you are seeking pizza or a sub, look elsewhere.
(2)Jon F.
Best pizza, best little salad bar! Love this place!
(5)Nick P.
The good: They delivered to my Crystal City hotel when I called at 10:30pm on a Wednesday. Ordering over the phone was easy, and they let me add the tip in at the time of order on my credit card so I didn't have to screw around when the driver arrived. Price was reasonable for a 1 topping with a six pack of Diet Coke. The bad: I'm a pizzaholic, not a pizza snob. While I might drive 50 miles for a specific type of Napolitana pizza because they use imported buffalo milk for their fresh mozzarella, I've also inhaled my share of those cheap pizzas they make in toasters at dive bars. All pizza is good to some degree, because at the end of the day, it's always melted cheese on freshly baked bread. How can that not be delicious? But what I got from Mom's that night (a larger pepperoni) was bland, cardboard-like, and dry. A little packet of garlic powder or herbs might have helped, but there was nothing except napkins. You have to give delivery pizza a little leeway because it can be 45 minutes from oven to mouth, but this one didn't cut it even with that consideration. The reviews here suggest that they do make some decent food but, based on this one data point, I suggest that you look elsewhere for a late night pizza fix when on a business trip to Arlington Nick in Palm Springs
(2)Jess T.
We went here to try the pizza the other day but it wasn't that good. Not enough sauce, just had a bland flavor. Not bad exactly, but not worth the price. The place itself is really kitchy and has a strange anachronistic 80's feel to it. Like, there's a salad bar and lots of cheap decorations. The pizza man statue holding the menu board when you walk in- well, his face gave me nightmares. But overall, this strip mall restaurant has a family business, honest feel to it, so I can't dislike it too much. Maybe the pasta and entrees are decent. I would go back if a friend wanted to to try an entree, but I'd stay away from the pizza.
(2)Carly C.
Checked out groupon yesterday and that's how I found out about this place. At first when walking into this place, I had some serious doubts. The decor is on the cheesy side and a smidge sketchy. Thankfully, the food made up for my initial feeling! We opted for the salad bar and the 16" Mom's Special with meatballs, bacon, pepperoni and olives. The salad bar was more than adequate and not at all what we were expecting. Same goes for the pizza. The toppings were pleantiful, sauce was savory and the crust although simple was tasty with just the right amount of crumbly texture.
(4)Charlotte M.
We've ordered from Mom's over the past 6 years of living in Arlington and have found their food to be in the decline. It used to be one of the only pizza places who delivered in this part of town & u could count on them for quick delivery & decent pizza. No longer. After last night's pizza that tasted worse than frozen, it's off our list. Sawdust crust, thin rock-hard cheese, too much seasoning- virtually inedible.

Take a bite into my eggplant Parmesan sub and transcend time and space to place where hunger no longer exists. That is how I felt. I ordered from here via Delivery.com . The order came in about 20 mins which is shorter than Lost Dog Cafe. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan Sub and my co-worker ordered a Tuna Sandwich, Pecan pie, orange soda. The total of our order was $23.75. Not bad for two ordered. Each Sub and sandwich comes with a pickle and a bag of chips. My sandwich was delicious and I did not feel gross after eating it. It was healthy in some means and vegetarian. All I could think about after every bite was that i didn't want it to end. It was one of those commercials where you are sailed away after each bite. Maybe I'm over doing things. I guess I will go here when I am NOT so hungry and then maybe my opinion will change but I doubt it. Overall, my co-worker was filled with sanctification and I was VERY PLEASED! I will be eating here again!!!

After the first bite, immediately what came to mind was 'I need to review this on Yelp!' Either I'm addicted to Yelp (getting there) or I had that great of an impression after the first bite. Horrible! My wife and I were looking for a local pizza joint to support, and we stumbled on Mom's PIZZA... and with a name like that, how can you go wrong?! Wrong. The pizza crust is like cardboard (kindly pointed out by other reviewers after we ordered) and flavorless. And the bread sticks, completely tasteless, (literally nothing on them) were dry and hard to get down. We totally had to fix the pizza (put cheese on it as there was barely any) and fix the breadsticks (put some melted butter, and salt and garlic on them) to make it edible. Did someone say Digornos? That's what we should have said....

"The usual, please" is what I order here (you know, the chicken) but sometimes I'll try something else just for the sake of it. So I ordered the shrimp cocktail (sometimes I get a craving for the seventies, and not just the Bee Gees) and got a bucket/pail with lots of ice, some lettuce, lemons and a few shrimp. They were good enough but there weren't enough of them for me to really get to know 'em. But the zinc pail did make for a fun visual and it harkened to the seaside... a good thing when dealing with seafood. Next time, I'll take photos of my main meal.

Fantastic. It doesnt look like much from the outside, but if you were to ever go inside; you will end up loving it forever. Service is great- truely what you think of as a "family owned business". I have been in there and sometimes their children are working as waitresses/hostesses as well. They start to remember you, and now know my boyfriend and I as regulars. Food is fantastic, huge portions. It has both Italian and Greek food which is a huge plus. I have always stuck to sandwiches or pasta but I have heard great things about the Greek options. In an area where there isnt as many Greek places, its a fantastic find. Its also open extremely late; so if you want take out/delievery/after bar time you can stop in here. Nearly everythign there is available for delivery as well which is a huge plus. They are also always open during snow storms (which is when I found it- last year).

Great local business. Good service and delicious food. Don't let the simple decorations and furnishings deceive you.

Ordered take out twice from here. Both times, everything was delivered much quicker than the estimate from the online ordering website. And the delivery guy was super friendly. Pizza is decent. I'm pretty picky about my pizza and after trying several places, I think this will be my go to.

Ordered pizza for delivery and it took over an hour and 15 minutes and the pizza was terrible. The pizza is extremely dry and flavor-less. The sauce tastes like cheap, store-bought, canned spaghetti sauce, and the dough tastes like it was frozen. On top of the awful quality, this pizza is extremely over-priced. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

I ordered the eggplant parmesan sub and it was inedible. There was almost no sauce on the sub and the eggplant was grilled and soggy. After one bite I had to toss it out because the eggplant had a bitter taste.

I went here last night with a friend to redeem a Living Social coupon. I didn't have the verification number and the owner said he couldn't remember signing up for that particular deal. He said he would honor it anyway but then appeared to change his mind as my friend and I were ordering. He then accused me of making up the deal! I kept showing him the deal and my receipt on my phone but he kept denying that he signed up for it and insisted that Living Social made a mistake. I completely understand that he needs the verification number but he yelled at us until we walked out. He accused us of treating him like he was "stupid" and insinuated we were just trying to get away with not paying an extra $12. But who knows, the food might be amazing.

First let me dispel a couple statements previously made about Mom's. Despite an earlier claim here, those plants are real. In fact, the entire ceiling is covered with lovingly maintained Golden Pothos (Devil's Ivy) suspended on a wooden trellis, which gives the place a pleasantly garden-like atmosphere. The food is real too. While, as with most restaurants, some of their entrees are partially prepared in advance, whether Greek, Italian, or Middle Eastern, it's all made in-house to order. Be patient, and enjoy the generous fresh salad bar and a glass of vino while you wait. In fact, try their featured Greek Kouros red wine ... it's serious. The name is a misnomer. While the pizza at Mom's is usually every bit as good as or better than the chain-restaurant variety, their menu shines best with their specials and full-meal entrees. Two things you can always rely on ... whatever their pasta special of the day is, and "Mom's Baked Chicken". That chicken is to die for ... seasoned with Greek spices and baked to a crispy-skinned perfection, then topped with sauteed (not fried) onion rings ... it's best with a side of rice (or fries, if you really must), but it's by far my most favorite entree there. You'll have to hunt for it in their large menu, but it's worth the search. Yes, this is one of those tiny little neighborhood strip-mall places. It's owned and operated by a real family, and "Mom" and Pop can frequently be found there during peak business hours, he presiding over the kitchen, and she manning the tables. They and their staff are friendly folks who remember you when you come back ... and you probably will. I know I and my friends will ... we've been doing so for some fifteen years. P.S. ... they also do a significant delivery business. Nearly everything on the menu is available for delivery. Last time I ordered a pizza from there, none other than "Pop" showed up at my door with it. (He said it was a really busy night, but Mom was minding the store).

So good!! A friend and I ordered calzones for delivery - they came right on time and still very warm. We had the spinach/artichoke and sweet calzone. AMAZING!!
(4)Shane S.
Lamb shank is incredible!! Salad bar with grape leaves is worth multiple visits, and the baked chicken dish is fantastic. Love the neighborhood feel (a real one complete with mom/dad/kids working) and friendly. Good prices and great service.

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant, and we eat there a couple times a month. It is small and cozy. The staff is friendly and the food is consistently enjoyable. The food is served piping hot and the portions are large. The pasta dishes are good home style cooking. You can't miss with the specials. And if you like stuffed grape leaves, they are exceptional! They also have take out for most of their menu. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but you'll end up being a regular if you go inside.

Mom's pizza restaurant is located in a strip mall, so you have to look for it. I found it and tried it out because of a Living Social instant deal. WOW! The menu is large and complete, two kinds of great food, Greek and Italian. First off, everything is fresh, including the tomatoes on the pizza. Very friendly waitress, she was there every time you needed her but not a pest. Food came out fast and hot! Pizza was great! Prices are very very good, great place for a date or families. Lunch or dinner for two below $25.00 easy, they serve beer and wine.

I really want to like this place--their Grilled chicken salad is really good and the house dressing is great too. I ordered their white pizza to try because it's my favorite kind of pizza and I find the fact that Pizza bolis has the best white pizza in Arlington to be, well, quite pathetic. The delivery guy was very nice and arrived quickly (I'd say about 30 mins from the time I placed the order.) But the white pizza here sucks, it tasted more like cold card board than pizza. They also forgot the garlic sauce but that kind of thing happens. I can't get over the poor quality of the pizza though, before I tried it I was going to give this place 4-5 stars based on delivery and the awesome chicken salad but one slice of pizza was enough for me to throw the rest of it away...which takes a lot.

This little restaurant (about 12 tables) is hidden in a small shopping center on the corner of Glebe Road and Columbia Pike. Inside is nothing special. A little dark and dated but what are going to do? They have the trellis with the faux grape vine. They have half-melted candles, using bottles as candle holders, on the tables. Italian music playing on the sound system. The service has been great both in store and via delivery. The owner (complete with waxed mustache) came by our table on one occassion and asked whether we were enjoying our meal. My wife and I have eaten there twice and ordered delivery service from them about a dozen times, and have always found the food to be great. One caveat, we have only ordered from the pizza and calzone menus, and have not yet sampled from other spots on the menu. Not sure whether it is worth mentioning but my wife (Italian) really liked their sausage. I believe that the owner stated that they make their own. She inquired because she tasted fenel in the sausage and knew that most store-bought sausage usually has no fenel. They have a salad/pasta buffet bar at lunch, although I have never tried it. One note, on their delivery menu are pizza coupons (both of which are available online), which are only good for delivery orders...so it is actually cheaper to have a pizza delivered than to pick it up yourself.

Flawless. Perfect dolmades, terrific souvlaki, pitas on the mark, lamb shank from Olympus, and service that makes you family at hello. Great baklava, if served a little cold. Great drink, great buffet, everything prepared to perfection. Has had quite a clientele over the years. This is five strong stars all the way and a must-have Arlington staple. Don't miss it!

I was in the area for the weekend and looked for a place close to my hotel. Mom's was the closest and I was impressed. There were only a few other people in the restaurant, but it was about 9:00 on a Sunday evening. The service was excellent, our food came hot and fresh tasting, not reheated. My boyfriend got the manicotti and he was very impressed with the portion size and taste. I had the chicken kabobs and they were delcious. Very good flavor and fresh tasting. A good serving of meat and vegetables. I would definitely go back if I lived closer!

Great pizza and garlic bread

Found a neighborhood jewel! We stumbled upon this place because we were checking out the mattress store next door. Food is delicious! The restaurant itself is clean and the decor too cute for words! It made me feel as if I were in a small restaurant in Italy. I loved it! Their pizza and pasta is good and they have a salad bar. The waitress was on her toes, refilling our drinks efficiently. Overall, I loved it and plan to go back.

They had great pizza and sandwiches. Then I saw a roach. Walked out and never came back.

We were traveling home hungry and it was late. Mom's Pizza Restaurant was on the way, so we thought we'd give it a try. The pizza (Mom's Special - 4 toppings) was not bad. Definitely better than any chain restaurant's pizza. The hot gyro (lamb and beef) was excellent. The accompanying fries, however, were too greasy. Do not get the deluxe gyro, stick to the regular and enjoy less greasy potato chips. The bill was only $21 for two people, so definitely a nice cheap place to stop at when you're really hungry.

I don't enjoy giving one star reviews but this place grossed me out. I wanted to be charmed here, but I sadly wasn't. I ordered the spanikopita which came drenched in oily tomato sauce. Why? I have no idea. The side salad was stale iceberg lettuce. All in all, not appetizing. Also, the price struck me as higher than average for this type of meal, especially given it's hole in the wall location. This may be the type of place where you need to know exactly what to order, and it may very well have hidden gems. I will not be spending time or money to find them.
(1)Sarah G.
ok, so not horrible, nothing delish. They have EVERYTHING you could ever want on a menu. Mms hasnt decided if theyre italian, american or greek. I love getting the salad bar and hummas as an app. My bf always gets the never ending pasta bowl. I think his pasta always loks greasy, but im like Grease-phobic. Its cheap, fast, and serves pizza late ight. Eh, could be worse!
(3)Adam N.
Love the food from this restaurant. Only have had delivery, but the chicken parm and linguine clam is very good. Food is about $10-15 per entree.
(4)Jackie W.
Can't say we have tried the pizza - usually just the subs and pastas. Great for a quick and cheap dinner when we are too tired to cook. Don't expect anything much - just food you didn't cook, good prices, friendly drivers and timely delivery.
(4)Kristy G.
Delivery service is hit or miss. I live right down the street and received cold food. I also received the wrong type of pizza--I think there was a language barrier when ordering over the phone. I recommend going to the restaurant to eat even though it seems more like a delivery place because every time that I go, there is never anyone there and there are a lot of to go orders. I like this place for the all you can eat spaghetti. You get salad (from the salad bar), garlic bread and spaghetti. The salad bar is not the best thing i've ever had, but I like their house dressing. The spaghetti sauce is really good.
(3)Judith G.
I like Mom's because it isn't a chain and the owner and staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. There is a certain charm about the place so I keep going back to try different entrees. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the pizza (although I have spoken to other customers there who LOVE it). The calzone was wonderful. The clam chowder is truly outstanding and if you like oysters, try the fried oyster appetizer. Also outstanding is their spinach/artichoke/crab (or something) dip with pita bread. Yum. The chocolate cake is delicious when it's fresh (that is hit or miss). I personally liked the eggplant entrée. Yes, the décor is dark and the restaurant could definitely use a makeover -- or at least a cleaning. There doesn't seem to be a lot of variety in the specials. I have seen the po-po there on many occasions and sometimes I think they have multiple delivery guys--there is always food heading out the door. Busy, busy, busy. The price is right and when you walk in the door, you get a huge, warm smile from the owner (John) and the servers. Give it a try!
(3)J D.
Just like the two stars explains. Meh, I've experienced better. Had a take out order, was ready very quick. Quality is below par, didn't get a chance to try the pizza, but from the looks of it when I walked it, looks like dominos. Still prefer "Italian Store"

Great late evening eating with some "interesting" ambiance inside. Mustached host is always friendly. As others have mentioned, the eggplant parm sub is trashy excellence.
(3)Ryan C.
Solid fallback delivery place. They have a pretty deep menu and are open late. The food has always been good, not amazing, but good. Have only tried the subs and pizza and calzones. I don't think the pizza is all that great, but they do a solid cheesesteak and the fries are good. Mom's is on the regular delivery rotation for those lazy nights.
(3)Monica K.
Food was very quick delivery but had not favor. The saltine crackers were the best part.
(1)Celia W.
Decent food for relatively cheap. I always love their hummus and their calzones. Their Chicken Marsala was really tasty. I almost miss having them as the closest delivery place for pizza.
(3)Karol U.
I order food from here at least once a week. Their souvalaki sandwich and gyro salad are amazing. Excellent house dressing. Nothin fancy....a nice down home dive joint serving comfort food.
(4)john s.
Terrible. The small hawaiian pizza came out to over $14, and then of course there's tip. The pizza was very small, very thin (not good italian thin, but cheap thin), the sauce and cheese were gross and there was barely any pineapple or ham on it. STAY AWAY.
(1)Roy B.
so promising from the outside. And tacky and charming inside. Could this be a neighborhood find? Nope. Lasagna was not good, nor inexpensive for kind of place it is. Even friend who eats pretty much anything thought food was terrible. Not willing to go back to try the pizza
(2)d c.
Comfort food is right. If you are looking for that local cosy italian place...well greek/Italian with red checkered table cloths and plants growing everywhere, then this is the place. The pizza crust is different from dominoes with more character and so might not be for everyone. I've really enjoyed the veggie sub and eggplan parm sub, but our favorites are the stuffed shells and manicotti....just thinking about the stuffed shells is making me drool a little. Their sauce has some kind of crack in it that makes you want more. Garlic bread comes for free which is also cool. The owner or manager has a handle bar moustache and is very friendly. I think he was trying to get my mom shnockered on wine samples once, though.
(4)Chris M.
Carry out and delivery, which seems to be their main business can be hit or miss, but I love their all you can eat spaghetti and salad bar eating at the restaurant. It's not the cleanest or fanciest place around but for $10 you can't beat all you can eat spaghetti with either meat or tomato sauce, bottomless garlic bread and a salad bar. The salad bar isn't always the freshest and would probably disappoint if I got it on delivery, but in person it's not half bad when you can pick and choose what you want, and their house Italian dressing is really good. Love that they have fresh peppers on the salad bar. Have occasionally gotten their delivery pizza or subs which are ok, but without the all you can eat deal not sure I'd go back. The chicken parm sub used to be pretty good, but the last time I ordered it was not very memorable and the fries it came with were almost cold when they were delivered. Their staff must all be family because it seems they've all been there for years. Even if there's an occasional strike against this place, it's great to have it in the neighborhood. Feb 2011 Update - this has become a go to staple on the weekends. Everything is good dining in. and the salad bar that used to just be okay is something I now crave. Chicken parm subs are back up to the level they used to be. Their pasta sauce, both marinara and meat, get better with each visit. And to top it off, since I've become somewhat of a regular, the staff, almost all family, have become extremely friendly, to the point where one of the reasons to go there is to simply support their small business.
(5)Ken S.
If you love good pizza, avoid this place!!! Crust reminded me of cardboard. You're much better off at the frozen food aisle in your grocery store or stopping at Pizza Hut. The atmosphere is rather drab and the service just ordinary. Maybe other menu items are better, but after one visit to try the pizza I will never find out.
(1)ca z.
We used to eat here years ago then the food started to get a little "off" if you will then there was the roach in the soft drink episode and we have given up on it. Another local eatery bites the dust. :(
(1)Alex C.
I guess you should stick to ordering pizza from a place called Mom's pizza...I don't know cause I didn't try their pizza. But the gyro plate and mom's baked chicken came out dry and gross. I got delivery and gyro meat was so stiff when I picked up the long strips, they stood straight up like piece of wood. My husband said the chicken was dry and just gross. Fries looked like they would be good cause I like breaded seasoned fries but since it was delivery, they ended up soggy (which is no fault of theirs). I will not be ordering from there again.
(2)Andrew P.
Ordered a pizza which was almost decent. They deliver which is a plus, but I really can't recommend the pizza.
