Ok, the food is three star average diner food - no complaints and good for those mornings where you gotta do the American Diner thing, but don't want to make a big deal out of it. What makes it a four star review for me though is the warmth and kindness shown to me by the regular staff. By my third visit they were already remembering me like a long lost friend or family member. It's a blast from Arlington's past before the millennials came of age and started ruining Arlington for "regular folks." Yes, you're ruining it. Now hush up.

Usually I go to Metro 29 Diner, which is a good solid 3 stars. At Linda's Cafe, my ham looked like no other, and I am from pig country in Nebraska. My grits were definitely out of a box and were watery. Eggs were good and over easy. The grill was disgusting and filthy. My service was excellent, Romey asked numerous times if there was anything else he could get me.

Food was exactly what we ordered. Didn't knock our socks off but didn't disappoint either. The convenience here is exceptional -- No wait to sit down & easy to park! The staff was very friendly & welcoming! Service with a smile could certainly be their motto!

The staff was great, the food was OK, and the place was dirty. I went there for breakfast. I had french toast with bacon. It was OK. Simple food with no frills. Kind of like this review. Ordinary bread covered with egg and fried. Nothing about which to write home. (Simple writing, for sure, but are we primitives?) The bacon was good, thick and tasty. The floor was filthy. This place was OK. There are many other places to try that are better.
Excellent food! Great service. Doesn't look like much from the outside... But has a great feel to it inside. Very "hole in the wall"-esque. Definitely a regular place to get breakfast/lunch/brunch.

If you love a good home-like breakfast, this is the place to go. A little hole-in-the wall kinda place, it's a small restaurant and you have to get there early or you won't find sitting. The place has regulars and i am proud to say i am one of them. They have friendly staff, and they make you feel like a part of the family. I recommend Linda's cafe to everyone i know. Best breakfast, best coffee. I almost always get the corn beef hash and waffle. They have the best omelette. So basically all i am saying is if you go to Linda's, you will not be disappointed.

Been coming here for years. Best diner food around! Do yourself a favor and order waffles, pancakes, French toast or a burger. Yum!!!

Linda's Cafe is a classic. Unpretentious, friendly, inexpensive, and serving quality food and coffee. Usually full of regulars, and friendly staff. As I am from the south, I compare it to a Waffle House, but with pancakes and french toast. In NoVA standards, I compare it to Vienna Inn. I have only gone for breakfast, but they have a pretty lengthy lunch menu as well.

A real American Diner. Linda's Cafe is the new name pasted over the old "Steak & Egg" restaurant that served typical greasy-spoon diner food at that location for decades. New name, new hours (unlike Steak & Egg this is not 24 hours), new staff but the food has stayed basically the same; Breakfast all the time, plus burgers and anything else that a short order cook can make. They place is smallish, and expect a moderate wait for your food if the place is full, because the their griddle is tiny. Some might say it is just the right size for the number of seats, but personally I think it could be a foot wider. When it was Steak & Egg I always had the waffles. This time I got a burger because outside they claimed "Excellent Burgers" and inside "The World's Best Burger". The last part is a bold claim, but I will rate the burger as being **almost excellent**. They make the patties from scratch. I wouldn't have a problem ordering a burger from them again, but to be honest I'd prefer one from Five Guys instead. The waffles looked outstanding so I'll probably have those next time. TL;DR -- Good breakfast food, and reasonably priced. PROTIP: Avoid sitting in the "booth" on the left hand side that seats two. The table and chairs are fixed and it is a TIGHT fit. We switched seats to move to the stools. The stools are nice because I find watching a short order cook work interesting. They have to have excellent organization skills.

Linda's Cafe is my favorite breakfast place around Arlington. I've been many times. There's hardly ever a wait, although it's not unusual to find it busy. It's a friendly, comfortable, no-nonsense atmosphere. The wait staff is always attentive and on the ball with keeping coffees or other drinks filled. It's fairly quick too. They've never botched or lost my order or the orders of anyone in my party. Can't speak too much for their lunch or dinner items as I've nearly always gotten the breakfast. The Linda's Combo and Four Deuces are my go-to items. I'm a big fan of Linda's Cafe!

I met a friend for breakfast. We ordered breakfast sandwiches - pretty simple and straightforward. It was good, but my biggest issue was that we felt that we were pushed out too quickly once we paid for the check. We got there at about 8:50-ish, and were "shooed out" by 9:15....and there was no line at all. That was definitely a turn off, I'm not sure if I'll be returning, and if I do, I will make it clear that I am not leaving until I am finished with my coffee and water (especially with being there just for 25 minutes, it's not like we were there for 2 hours). Also, the place could be a little cleaner.

A decent greasy spoon diner. Coffee is good, breakfast is good...what else is there to say. Solid.

This is an awesome place. Classic diner with countertop seating and a huge menu of quick, cheap and delicious food. Service is pleasant and patrons clearly are locals. Small, but comfortable. I had the steak egg philly cheese sub - yum! My son the pancakes - big, fluffy classic. Good place and perfect alternative to Mclean family diner, Mylos, and Metro 29 (pricier).

This place is great. No pretentiousness, very kind, friendly waiters. I love sitting at the counter. The cooks are friendly and the waitress always remembers me and she remembers my order. I have seen people come in and are just plain rude to them for no real reason and the staff are very patient. I definitely think some food is better than others. Once you figure out what you like you can get exactly what you want. I always get the Thousand Island Burger with everything and onions, and a side of bacon. I also recommend the waffles and the chocolate chip pancakes. I highly recommend trying it out. I always leave with a smile.

Linda's is the best. Yes it is a greasy diner - but it's much more than that. Linda herself is the sweetest person ever - and it's like visiting family with every trip. Notice the pictures on the walls of kids and weddings---those aren't Linda's kids---they're customers. A testament to the type of place this is: one worth coming back to. PS- get Linda's Omelette.

What the heck? How is this place open? I am blown away at how absolutely dirty this place is. Really, the servers just chill there while the filth piles up day after day. Further, I hate myself for watching them prepare my food. I had to cancel my order before I ever got it because the absolutely refusal to adhere to food safety standards left me crawling out of my skin. To anyone interested in running a restaurant: Please don't touch raw bacon with your bare hands and then immediately handle cooked food. If you can handle that basic directive, you will be miles ahead of the folks at Linda's Cafe. I stopped by because everything about this place appeals to me - a family-owned business with a solid menu, but good heavens, we need to save ourselves from these people who truly do not care whether or not you walk away from their restaurant sick to your stomach. Good luck.

Good 'ol all American neighborhood diner. Love this place! It's small and always filled with regulars. It's reasonably priced and the staff are always so warm and friendly. I've gone for breakfast multiple times and have yet to have a complaint!

We went for the first time at the height of a lunch rush, and the man behind the counter still managed to be efficient about getting our group of seven apportioned throughout the establishment. It wasn't exactly the family meal we'd anticipated, but the food was tasty and served with a smile.

I can't speak for anything else except for the burgers. As a Texan, finding a decent, simple, hamburger in Virginia is next to impossible. Sure, there are places that have great burgers, but not the kind that I remember with such fondness. Then a fellow Texas transplant introduced me to Linda's Cafe, and I wanted to weep tears of joy! The soft sesame seed bun, a juicy patty, the perfect ratio of condiments all transpired to make my hamburger dreams a reality!

Divey diner with a small parking lot but great staff. Four of us zombied in after a LONG night spent round a campfire and copious beverages. The breakfast prices were reasonable, the service was pleasant, the food was average. Personally, I was sad that they didn't have hash browns, home fries just don't do it for me. I ordered two eggs (poached) with toast and ham. I was rather shocked when my food arrived and the ham was just two slices of deli ham that had been grilled on the flat top. yelp.com/biz_photos/lind… My eggs were so over-done that I had to send them back, but the server was incredibly apologetic about it so that helped - the replacement eggs were poached perfectly. Maybe I just need to learn to emphasize that I want them poached "soft". No one in my party had any complaints about their food, but no one raved about it either. Maybe it was the cook or maybe it was our ragged state, but I just didn't love the place. I will, however, give it another try on a morning when I'm not feeling so under the weather.

This place is DIR-TAY. Dirt McGirt! Gross! We headed in for breakfast before work and dishes were piled up on every table - even in the bar area, making it nearly impossible to find a seat. The floors looked nasty too, like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. Yuck. I can only pray that the kitchen was cleaner. Once seated, our waiter took his good ol' time getting to our table, even though he served some peeps who arrived after us, first. When he finally rolled up, his attitude was just as filthy as the restaurant. Dude was rough to say the least, borderline rude. We got our food in decent time (I had to ask for my grits, which he forgot). It was tasty, just what you'd expect from a mom and pop hole in the wall kinda place. We were happy. Our waiter softened up as our meal continued. He topped off my coffee. On our way out, I overhead another customer ask for tea, which he gruffly replied that they were all out of, and saltine crackers, which he barked that they didn't carry. They looked offended by his attitude, and I felt sorry for them. On our way out, he seemed chipper and told us to have a great day. I replied that we would, and I told him to do the same. He said he'd try, but he didn't sound confident in his response. I got the sense that he was barely scraping by, and generally angry at the world. I can't blame him, but it's not cool to take it out on your customers.

Old fashioned diner set up. Great diner breakfast and good for lunch too. Eclectic menu of American food classics, like waffles, pancakes and various omelets.

Other reviewers are right to note that this is a greasy spoon. If you don't like greasy spoons, you can go up the road half a mile to the Metro 29 diner. You'll get brighter lights and nicer silverware, but the food will be mediocre and the service will be bad. If you don't mind a greasy spoon, this is your place. The kind of place where they already remember your name the second time you visit, and where you know the waitresses well enough to let them hold your baby so you can eat. I always get the bacon, eggs and waffle, and its great every time. Pretty much everyone I've gone with has loved the waffles, but the egg sandwich on a croissant is also pretty fantastic.

First off I want to say I'm between 3 and 4 stars for a couple reasons. The good was this just a plain american diner with large portions for cheap prices. I definitely enjoyed my meal which was three pancakes, bacon, eggs, and homefries. The food was ready in no time and our waitress was kind and prompt. The only bad of the place was just it was a bit dirty. The food wasn't amazing but hey it's a diner, I don't expect high quality here. If you're looking for something fast and cheap, this is your place to go.

I wanna love this place and I want, WANT to support it. Family owned small joint that serves Breakfast lunch and dinner, I think. All I can say is, margarine packets for toast, and fake cheese in my omelet. But gosh all mighty I want this place to be amazing.

Cyndy K.
Cyndy's BOTTOM LINE: basic diner breakfast 2.5 stars and good service 3 stars. Always been curious about Linda's Cafe as we pass by often to go to Metro 29. We finally detoured and tried Linda's Cafe for a change and to cure our curiously for once. I ordered the eggs with bacon, potatoes and I asked, for a biscuit in place of the toast. The waitress was nice enough to accommodate me with a biscuit instead of toast. The eggs were cooked to over easy perfection. The bacon, was crispy enough, and the biscuit was soft inside and golden brown on the outside.

An okay dinner for breakfast. It's either this dinner or the other one down the road, the price difference is what got me to go here. I ordered country fried steak and potatoes. Altogether it was an alright plate of food that filled me up in between finals that I had that day. I'm not much for breakfast anyways so I can't really complain.

This place was okay. I've been to better places and had better quality food. I found a strand of hair in my food and got a new order but feel that more could have been done. Maybe the cooks should wear hair nets. The place could have been a bit cleaner. The staff carried on conversations that could have been a bit quieter so that the customers didn't hear it. This is just very poor and unprofessional on their behalf. Also, I ordered the Linda's omelet and was dissatisfied with the fake cheese. Last, the menu needed to be altered since we were charged a different price for orange juice than was stated on the menu.

I give it 2 stars. First i'll state the positive. I arrived about 7:30am, being the only customer at that time. Good service from the 2 gentleman. I had Country fried steak, home fries and a bisquit. The steak was frozen and he deep fried it. The bisquit was canned. The gravy,i would suspect was not from scratch. The cook preparing my meal didn't wear gloves, not always a problem, except watching him prepare my meal i was kinda worried about the way the food was handled. I was especially disturbed about food safety. Overall, the home fries were ok. I'm really disappointed every time i have a bad experience from a neighborhood place. I will not return.

Pretty darn good little dive diner. I've only eaten breakfast here, which is very good. Great pancakes, hashbrowns, etc., although the grits are a little tasteless. The wait staff are pretty friendly and very nice to our kids. Prices are very reasonable. The breakfast down the street at Metro 29 Diner is better but also about two to three times as expensive.

Linda's Cafe is the ultimate neighborhood greasy spoon diner, like TV's Boston "Cheers" bar, without the beer, with better breakfast, and great burgers. The friendly staff knows their customers. Returning after several years in another town I was warmly greeted as long-lost family. Linda's is a "foodie" place for diner fans. Everything is exactly as it should be - or better. Don't pass it by. Or, make a special trip to get there.

This place is amazing. My family has been going to Linda's for breakfast since I can remember, the staff has always been so kind and friendly, and their food is inexpensive and never fails. I recommend the gyro platter-- so good!

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite breakfast places. Cheap, quick and never disappoints. Not the best breakfast I've had but really solid "hole in the wall" type of place. Great and friendly staff and a lot of regulars. Love the corned beef hash!!! The coffee is nothing special but that is standard for a diner.. It's a not a big place and it has a small parking lot.

I love Linda's! But don't expect more than what it is: a greasy spoon-type joint with friendly service and good prices. They have a broad menu and I've never gotten anything that wasn't good...and the prices are great. Highly recommend it.

Very small diner, pretty much perfect size really. The staff is awesome. The food is solid, but something just felt off to me about it. It was good, just not FREAKING AMAZING - which is something I look for in my diners. I'll definately be coming back here though, it's WORLDS above the metro 29 diner down the street... FYI, very limited seating, I wouldn't go with more than 4 people. Also a tiny parking lot (but check the back).

I guess people like this place because its greasy and old and gross looking, so that means character? What about the fact that the food is doodoo? Made the mistake of sitting at the counter so I could see the gross food be prepared. Pop my sausage gravy in the microwave? Great. Bland potatoes and eggs on a grill that looks like its never been cleaned? Check. Trust me, I like greasy spoons as much as the next guy, but this place is gross. Plenty of other Arlington breakfast options.

Linda's Cafe is tiny, local, friendly, and culinarily good enough. That's an honest assessment from a regular patron. The waitresses are wonderful, warm, and great in all regards. If it weren't for them, I probably would not go, or not as often. The food? Stick with simple things like the waffles and pancakes, both of which are great. That said, the bacon could be crispier. The home fries are often not cooked enough and are served in sparse portions. Do not order any kind of omelette with cheese, because the latter will be some low-grade substance that tastes like some institutional castoff. But the eggs, toast, and sausage are all quite good. I wish they would stock real butter, but it's margarine in those annoying little pats that you have to peel the paper off of. I would pay more for real butter. Also, I don't think they make things like biscuit gravy fresh; it often tastes reheated. Still, it's a genuine local, family-owned greasy spoon, and for breakfast food, it's what you probably expect. The highlight is the waitstaff and the fact that it's not IHOP.

Linda's gets a solid three stars from me. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely make it a regular spot. But I don't, and Linda's really offers no reason to come out of your way to dine here. The best part about this place is that it's a *real*, old-school diner. Not a restaurant built to *look* like a diner. Formica, tiles, outdated color scheme, open kitchen with flat top grill, counter seating with swivel seats. The second best part about Linda's is the friendly, honest service ("Don't order the grits," our waitress cautioned. "They're really not that good.") The food is fine. Nothing wrong with it. Can't complain about my spinach and feta omelet (OK, so maybe I'll gripe I prefer fresh over frozen spinach) or home fries. Husband liked his two egg platter; Moms thought her Belgian waffle was fine and extolled the super crispy, extra thin bacon. If you live close by, you probably can't go wrong eating at Linda's. But I gotta disagree with The Washington Post's recommendation that you should seek this spot out.

This is a really cute little diner on Lee Hwy that I've driven past for years. I Finally went in one morning because my little two year old wanted eggs and bacon, and I didn't feel like waiting at the 29 diner. I'm so glad I came in and tried it! They are so nice here--especially to my daughter. There are usually not more than 2-3 people working here, but the food is very fresh and made quickly (but not too quickly). They always remember us, and the prices are very reasonable. I don't think anything on the menu is more than $10.00, and mostly in the $7-8 range. It is sort of a blue collar crowd of just really, really nice patrons and everyone seems to know one another. A great small-town feel and nice food. Love this place!!!

Ah, Linda's cafe ---it was well recommended on other sites, even this one. Even Urbanspoon liked it. So we get there. It isn't much of a place. It has seen better days. Homely and rickety --a place where you'll see the bologna omelettes advertised in pen on the wall. Yum. All of about 10 tables. And all handled by an older Black gentleman who will seat you. And then there is a very chatty server who is either Italian or Latina, couldn't tell. who is especially garrulous with all of her customers. She must have spent 15 minutes with neighboring Italian customers chatting away, coffeepot in hand, while we were waiting to get our check. The fare is passable: I had the pancake sandwich --three flapjacks (just OK), two eggs and some greasy strips of thin bacon. Coffee was average, won't win any contests. My friend had the same only with sausage. There have to be better greasy spoons in the area and it's probably best to try those than to have to sit waiting for your check in a tiny place.

Quite possibly the best breakfast in town. Quick, decently priced, and good ole breakfast food everyone knows and loves. You won't find any snooty waitresses, but family members who care. You won't find fancy dishes with odd add-ons that run you $20, but simple breakfast dishes that are fabulous and will cost you $8. I probably go here too often... Can be a bit of a wait at peak morning hours

Ah yes, the local greasy spoon. Linda's is a great place to go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner anytime, when you want a quick bite to eat, or if you just want to stop by and pass some time with the locals over a cup of coffee. The service is outstanding. The cooks love what they do, and the servers are always friendly and smiling. Custom creations are no problem at Linda's... just tell them what you want and they'll be happy to whip it up. Linda's does not get 5 stars because it isn't the cleanest place around. The restrooms are cramped and the floors could really use a good scrubbing. Overall the restaurant shows its age, but that's just fine... Linda's doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is; a great local diner that serves up comfort food with a smile. My favorites: Gyro, Chicken Souvlaki, 4 Deuces Breakfast Enjoy!

I really love independent small business breakfast pancake and omelet places so I was excited when I stumbled across this joint on Yelp. Walked in and got a seat at the counter. Everything was reasonably priced on the menu. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. It was definitely made from a mix or a can. This was not the DDD gravy that makes my mouth water and soaks my couch cushions. I will be back to go for an omelet or glutenous breakfast cakes.

If you're looking for mimosas and goat cheese frittatas, this is not the brunch spot for you. However, if you want to eat a reliably good plate of breakfast staples in your sweat pants, come on down to Linda's! Linda's is a no-frills diner with a classic diner menu. You can't go wrong with any of omelettes, breakfast combo plates, or breakfast sandwiches. The servers are friendly and the food comes out hot every time. Again, this is not a "bring your mom to Mother's Day brunch" establishment, but if you're looking for a good meal after a long night, this is the place for you.

Learned about Linda's from having bought this year's Entertainment Book and being a visitor to Virginia on the Memorial weekend ran in for a quick lunch. A restaurant experience unlike anything I have ever had in California where I live. except on TV watching some comedy show. Bottom Line: At least 4-6 people beyond the diner counter attempting to put meals together and one lead person trying to train people. They have on their menu gyro platters and sandwiches. That sounded great and when I asked why the gyro machine was empty, they said they were down to last batch and had it in the back. I ordered that and watched as they threw meat on a very greasy grill and cooked it up and then put it on top of the pita bread, and ignored the request for sauce on side and when bought to me had to refuse it. They took it away and re did it. Not authentic, highly over seasoned, and came out much to grilled. The French fries served to the child with us were greasy, not well cooked, and our child refused to touch them. From the reviews looks like breakfast is the safe bet and be careful about the rest of the lunch menu. If you have a sense of humor as we tried to have on today it was like having wandered into a relative's kitchen watching them 4 people cooking up something so simple I could have done it better myself at home. I was looking for a "Diners and Dives" kind of experience and instead got a restaurant that needs help.

Solid classic place for a basic breakfast. We always go with the 4 Dueces - 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon. Pancakes are what you would expect, my kids love the sausage. It is a little pricey for what you get, but my stomach is always happy and full when I leave. The staff is the reason to come back - they make you feel like family.

Good diner food, reasonable prices. If what you want is diner food, and you're nearby, come here. If you don't want diner food, don't go to this establishment. If you're far away, there's probably a closer diner to you than this one that you should go to instead.

Linda's has become a regular Saturday morning event for us. Consistently well prepared meals, friendly staff, and decent prices make for a winning combination. My favorite choice is Linda's omelet, but I order it without cheese (if you're a cheese lover, however, it's not to be missed). Overall great value. One last point: the reviews about limited parking are inaccurate. Plenty of parking in back.

I ordered the Cajun chicken platter. I'm sorry but this place was awful. The "Cajun" chicken was nothing more than a barely grilled chicken breast with seasoned salt on top. No spices whatsoever. The water pitcher used to serve me had a black rung of dirt or mold on the bottom. In sum the food was horrible. The people were nice, but that's about it. I hate to give a scathing review to a mom and pop diner, so I won't. My advice, eat here only as a last resort.

Love this place! A simple walk in and seat yourself restaurant with classic meals for a great price. I love the breakfast menu and the staff are very friendly. It's a bit tight getting to the cash register to pay but well worth it. Nice portions are delivered in a timely way. Will definitely be back as often as possible!

I wouldn't bother stopping in. Food iis so much better in other diners!!! Coffee was weak and they can't brew it any better because of the machines they have. They use dark-brown mugs to hide how weak the coffee was. Sunny side up eggs was very very soupy and runny. Over easy eggs was very undercooked too. They both should have runny yolks, but half the eggs weren't even cooked. I could have slurped my eggs through a straw. Country ham was EXTREMELY salty and inedible. They should really try de-brining it. Grits were very very runny also! I could drink it from the bowl. They had forgotten to give me my grits and it came when I was more than halfway through my meal. Country fried steak was nothing to brag home about. The gravy was kind of bland. Needed hot sauce. Home fries were slightly undercooked and mushy. I will never eat there again.

Oh Lindas, you are my diets worst nightmare. Breakfast is greasy and delish. Steak and eggs are my favorite-- with the steak cooked how you actually order it. Bacon cheeseburger with french fries are the go-to lunch, and its definately one of the best in town. Service is friendly, food is cheap and awesome, great little hole in the wall.

I was surprised to see a review dated 11/04/2012 because this place has been closed for months. Did it reopen when I wasn't looking? It was still closed the last time I drove by. I liked this place, with a couple of caveats: 1) This is the only restaurant I know that essentially ignored it when Virginia's smoking ban in restaurants went into effect three years ago. There has often a lot of cigarette smoke in there, both before and after December, 2009. 2) Some items are rather overpriced. (For example, they change about $5 for a single-serving box of cereal with milk, more than some of their cooked-to-order breakfast items cost.) Other items are not overpriced. So examine the menu if value matters to you. 3) There is no decor. The place is a dive, not a hipster dive but a true dive. 4) Sometimes service is good. Sometimes it is gruff. Often there is only one person there running the entire restaurant. Caveats aside, they serve good gyros, good burgers, good french toast, decent pancakes and eggs. But call before you go there, or at least have a backup restaurant picked out, because Linda's Cafe have been closed for months.

This can best be described as hangover food. I'm no prude. Based on what I'd heard about Linda's, I was looking forward to a cheap, greasy, diner burger. What I got was cheap, all right, and definitely greasy. So they get an A+ for that. Unfortunately, the burger was soggy and flavorless. It was served with a plateful of potato chip crumbs. That's right, crumbs. Our conclusion -- definitely stay away for lunch.

Great breakfast place. We had the spinach feta omelet and Linda's omelet with side of potatoes. Both were delicious, perfect portions and the ingredients tasted fresh. Coffee was great too and constantly refilled. The service was great as well, a genuinely friendly staff. We'll be back to sample the lunch menu. Highly recommended.

I used to live in Arlington, and this is the best diner I've come across for that area. The place is TINY, and it's hard to show up and get a table together for more than 2 people. It is affordable, and the food is typical diner food, although I've only had breakfast there. Sunday brunch is typically full of hungover 20-somethings.

Linda's is the perfect hole-in-the-wall type atmosphere (no offense, Linda!) with delicious and affordable food! Went there for brunch and was served ample food with the perfect greasy touch. They serve breakfast all day long, which is nice! Service was quick, employees were friendly, and the bill was $18 for two.

A very nice mom-and-pop diner, located in one of Arlington's more pleasant neighborhoods.

I love the small town diner feel of this place! I've gotten in the habit of going here for brunch pretty much every Sunday. The employees are always so genuinely friendly - I think the place is family owned and you can definitely feel the staff's close-knit vibe. I always get the Linda's Combo - which I consider to be the best bang for your buck - and I'm always surprised at how quickly they prepare it. Also, they do a great job of refilling my coffee, which is essential to me. And best of all, I always leave feeling ridiculously full and satisfied. I just LOVE Linda's!

Found this place a week after moving to town and quickly became a regular. I can't speak to the lunch menu because their breakfast is too good to pass up and try out the lunch options. Friendly and fast. My go-to option several times a week. Great pancakes. Don't miss it.

You may have noticed the mixed reviews that this place is getting. The reason: it's not for the uptight. Definitely a greasy-spoon. Good greasy hangover food, good service, and low prices. It would be fair to question their cleanliness, but they have a completely open kitchen. How many places could stand up to that scrutiny? If you want big portions, cheap prices, friendly service, and decent food then definitely give it a try. If you're hung up on things like cleanliness, atmosphere, and healthiness, just cook your own damn pancakes.

I got the country ham once and it was a thin dry old piece of greasy ham. Came back to give it another shot and got the corned beef hash which was ok but they gave me a 5 year olds serving. Dont think Id come back.

Great Homestyle breakfast food for when I do not feel like cooking. Service is awesome and friendly.

This is a tiny and cramped diner that just has typical diner food. I came here for breakfast which was fine, but it is pretty difficult to screw up breakfast food. The thing I wasn't a big fan of were the prices. I thought prices were a little steep for what you get, but I guess everything in the Arlington area is probably expensive compared to where I'm from. Not a bad place to stop, but I'm not overly impressed with anything about this place either.
Finally, a real dinner (screw you Adams Morgan version). You don't come these sort of places expecting Marco Pierre White to serve you a pig's trotter (so please food snobs, do us all a favor and just don't come to places like this). You come because you need comfort food, and a great breakfast, and this place does that. Everything is suitably greasy, the eggs are great and the biscuits and gravy are top notch.

Pretty decent and good local place. If you go make sure you order some French toast! They make the best french toast as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise it can get a little too expensive to eat here if you're super hungry but the good news is that their portions here are HUGE.

The staff here are really great and welcoming. The menu is really delicious too, I especially love the omelettes, but less a fan of their biscuits and pancakes. This isn't an extravagant breakfast place with flavored syrups or granola options (which I do like), but the menu is full of seriously good and filling proteins, fats, and carbs. I'm always happy to see breakfast served all day and so many options to choose from. The prices are pretty cheap especially for the portions you receive. They do have a limited parking and seating, but I've been here dozens of times and it's never been a problem to get either right away. The largest tables seat four, but if you have a larger party, you can sit at the bar or two tables next to each other. If you want a low key and delicious breakfast, go here.

It's a diner. It's good. It's a greasy spoon. It's EXACTLY what it should be! And they're friendly.

I can only speak to the tastiness of the breakfast sandwiches, since that is what we always get and take it back to the office to devour it. There are several other places that offer breakfast sandwiches between Linda's and my office, but this is our favorite. The staff is very courteous and you feel like you are family, they call you hon or darling and remember you from visit to visit. I need to make a point to come in on a weekend and have a sit-down meal so I can try something other than the breakfast sandwiches.

If you want eggs benedict, or a fruit plate with yogurt.... this is not the place for you. Metro 29 down the street may have a bigger menu but lack's Linda's personality. This used to be called "Steak and Egg" in the mid-90s. These are hard working people who live and die on every customer and tips. Abdul has been cooking here forever, Jerome the waiter is a colorfully funny guy and lifer (he grew up on the street behind Linda's), and Mariana and Carol (mother and daughter) are the two main waitresses who hustle around to make sure people are happy. They are very nice people. If you toss out attitude here, you will get attitude back. They are way to busy to deal with picky morons who expect everything to be perfect. I've seen customers bitch and moan (probably because they just enjoy arguing) and it doesn't go over well. Customers who are nice get treated nicely. Don't be a dick. Their prices are pretty good, but amazing compared to say Original Pancake House in Falls Church (way too expensive). I've been to several diners in Boston, Jersey and NYC and Linda's is the best bet around Arlington for greasy spoon grub. Be ready for the service to be slightly slower on Sat and Sunday between 10:30-Noon as the church and drinking crowds flood the place. Regardless, the food is awesome and if you are looking for character and a more intimate place, this is it. FYI it's not a sparklingly clean place so be ready, but food is consistently hot and yummy and GREASY! I ran across Linda's in 1999 and am a big fan. I recommend the "Linda's Platter", "Linda's Combo" or the "Four Deuces". Very good burgers.

You have to appreciate Linda's cafe for what it is, which is a no frills local diner-ish eating hole. This is the place where you and your best friend go to talk. You're not holding business meetings here but there is a comfort in its simplicity. I'm a fan.

I've been here a few times with one of my girlfriends. We go there Sunday mornings for breakfast. We make it a point to get there before the late-morning/early-afternoon rush. The food is great. I've had their eggs, waffles, pancakes.... oh how I LOVE their pancakes!!! The one drawback is the fact that their silverwear as well as their coffee cups dont seem to be very clean. I'm always having to wipe them myself. Also, parking space is limited. Even when the restaurant isnt packed, you may not find parking. Service is A-OKAY. Nothing great to write home about. But, it isnt bad (at all) either!

This is one of my favorite places in Arlington. Since discovering it a few months ago, it has become a regular breakfast place. It's cheap, unpretentious, delicious diner food. The staff is uber friendly and the service is really good. Also, nothing cures a hangover like breakfast at Linda's. Also, it's the perfect place for those who don't want to wait 50 minutes at Whilows for their brunch.

We went twice. The first time it was ok. We were just looking for some greasy hangover food and that is what it was. We went after a sober night in and one of us mistakenly ordered the biscuits and gravy. First of all I love B&G, growing up in the south. What we were served was white speckled jello with very little flavor. My husband actually gagged.

Great greasy breakfast diner food; less generic clientele than metro diner 29.

I have been going to Linda's Cafe for years despite the ho-hum food quality. Some mornings you just need to taste greasy home fries and high-calorie waffles -- Linda's fits the bill exactly!

I have been having breakfast on and off at Linda's for at least 5 years. The food is good no frills eating, staff is overall warm and welcoming. I gravitate to the 4 deuces, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs. They have recently upped their prices a bit, but still to my mind the best breakfast value in Arlington. It does get crowded sometimes, and the bathroom could be cleaner, but those are quibbles. I agree that Linda's puts poseur diners like Silver Diner to shame.

Kirk W.
Great, greasy-spoon diner. Among the best independent diners around and among the best gyro platters around, especially for the price. Super friendly service. Been here many times over the years and always leave satisfied and happy. To be clear, this isn't the nicest facility in the world, but as long as you are not expecting a white table cloth experience, you'll be pleased.

Genuine, classic old school Arlington. In the 10 years I have been going to Linda's the only thing that has changed is the payment method: they now accept plastic. Linda's is a tiny mom & pop with such a varied menu that you can get just about anything anytime. Great breakfast. Good place to enjoy steak and eggs at 2PM on a Saturday. The coffee is excellent - nutty and smooth. Leave the cream and sugar in place, you won't need it. Parking is limited but there are plenty spaces in the back. Don't be a jerk and take up multiple spaces. If there is no parking, wait a few minutes and a space will open up. The system works. Everyone goes to Linda's. My wife and I have seen everyone there from Supreme Court justices to cabinet members and congressmen. There is a reason this place is a favorite.

Linda's cafe has had a recent downturn in my view Could it be a change in management? We have been big fans but something has changed just in the last month or two. they substituted their standard grilled chicken with some kind of red seasoned gyro-type chicken meat and it is chopped very small in the sandwiches and souvlacki. It tastes odd and seems skimpy in quantity. Also, there was a young cook that got several things wrong and the service was pretty indifferent It seems like several new people are working there that just don't have the same quality and charm as the old regulars. It was pretty disappointing. I hope things get back to the way they were soon!

Look, you can't just order any food when you go to Linda's. Because there's only two reasons to go here, but they're both very compelling: excellent pancakes and big, greasy cheeseburgers. What do these two things have in common? Linda's is the perfect common denominator for your group's varying hang over needs. So wander in, order the coffee and then get some pancakes. Tell your lunch-mood friend to get the cheeseburger. Then thank me because the pancakes and burgers are way better than Silver Diner, IHOP or Metro 29. On Sunday mornings plan on a crowd just like every other brunchy place. Oh, yea, and the bacon and sausage (links and patties) are good too.

Disgusting! The food was greasy and I cant believe that the thing I ate was called a Greek omlet. My friends had equally disgusting eggs.. the bacon was safe (thankfully). Not going back

The classic Greasy Spoon - and I mean that in the very best way. Love the food, love the staff, love the t-shirts, love the waffles with the malty tatse - our preferred breakfast (anytime) place. But use the bathroom someplace else before arriving...

I did not have breakfast there but awhile I had lunch there and vowed to never return. it is definetly a diner and a place for regulars who can eat disgusting food. I don't know how they get business but the food definetly upset my stomach.
(1)
Glaciala A.
For a weekend morning when you just want simple breakfast, it is a good choice. The omlets were decent, coffee is just eh. A place for the locals and for the less-sheek minded than those who would go to say Silver Diner.

Linda's is the quintessential neighborhood greasy spoon. I tend to stick to breakfast dishes when I go, which are never disappointing. The burgers are incredible, I've heard from friends, and the service and clientele are exactly what you want when you walk in. Locals chatting about news, weather, politics, and Jerome, the waiter/sometimes grill jockey, always ready to chat you up. The perfect place for a comfort-meal or hangover-cure, I keep going back again and again.

I've been twice. The first time, it was just ok, not really good, but the second time, this morning, was plain bad. First of all, the guy who took my order got it wrong. I specifically named the dish I wanted and pointed it out on the menu. He got me the wrong thing. Because I was in a hurry, I decided just to go with it. But the food tasted kind of weird in a bad way. It was just off enough that I still ate most of it, but quietly hoped that I wouldn't get sick later. The bill arrived which I checked carefully to make sure he hadn't charged me for the more expensive dish which I had actually wanted. He hadn't. But when I went to pay, the man at the cashier asked, "you had coffee too, right?" Then proceeded to add two more dollars to my bill. I had not ordered the coffee late in the meal. In fact, it was the first thing I asked for, BEFORE even ordering anything else! My total bill ended up being $10.00 which is kind of high for breakfast in my opinion. (All I had was scrambled eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns.) And the coffee was not good coffee. I will not return.

the only real diner in arlington. classic greasy spoon, the food is always great for curing a hangover. if you have a sensitive stomach and can't handle real food, stay out. i recommend the country fried steak and gravy. coffee is solid, waitresses are friendly and the service is above average. cheap relative to other shitty chain diners (silver diner, etc)

$62 for a family of 5 for breakfast is a bit much (especially since 2 of the meals were "kids meals.") The food is not worth it, I complained and the manager gave me a whole $2 off.

I bought an ENTERTAINMENT.COM discount coupon book in order to enjoy discount prices at restaurants around town and Linda's Cafe was one of my discount coupons in the book. So my co-worker and I decided we'd go there for lunch the other day and give this place a try. The small parking lot and an old restaurant that badly needs remodeling is what we saw when we arrived. But we were impressed by the cheerful attitude of the staff. I showed the "GREETER"(an older black man) my discount coupon and asked if there would be any problem using it and he said there would be no problem. We even ordered the specials from the board menu from him and he did not tell us there would be any problems. The Gyro sub they served me was cold and not very tasty. My co-worker ordered the "LINDA BURGER" and he received a greasy double cheese burger with lettuce, tomatoes and onion...so why not just call it a double cheese burger???But the big surprise came when we received our check and found that the staff had "jacked-up" the prices on what we ordered and then took the discount coupon off making what we ordered to be the same price as the special prices on the board that anyone without a coupon would have paid.... This is a totally dishonest way of "SCAMMING" people and we will not be back! I made a point of showing our discount coupon and asking if there would be any problems...and even ordered through the same person and he did not inform us upfront that he planned to "jack-up" the prices or we wouldn't have ordered the specials.

After driving by for 2 years we made in it there today since the line outside of IHOP was 25 deep....well I am glad it was. Linda's Cafe is adorable and the staff is happy, friendly and efficient. It's so nice to go the a little diner and be greeted with happy staff that even throws in some small talk and a joke. I will agree with one review regarding the sausage gravy...not great...BUT the eggs, potato's coffee were great. The burgers that were going out looked and smelled scrumptious (we sat at the counter) I am so glad to have found the place and will go back many times. Prices are very reasonable and you get PLENTY of food. Try it!

I noticed this place about a year ago and always intended to stop there and try it out. I finally did. This place is your standard small greasy style diner. The food is made in front of the bar, the waitress was chatting with costumers, and prices were good. It is not an elegant diner (ala Metro 29 or Silver Diner). The food is simple, tasty, American comfort food. Do not come here if you want a special fancy fru-fru omelet. Come expecting typical, classic breakfast and lunch food, and you will not be disappointed (e.g. eggs, bacon, home fries, pancakes, burgers, steak sandwiches...). This is the kind of place I will go to when I want reliable food at a reasonably price. That being said, I had a sub-sandwich burger. It was great; greasy and tasty, just like I wanted. It was also enormous, easily the size of two burgers at silver diner. I actually ended up using it for two full meals. Fries were good and made of actual potatoes. I will definitely come back again.

Think: Mel's Diner and you'll have a complete and total understanding of this place. It is the original greasy spoon. Linda's is a rather unknown place that serves the area's best breakfast - all the traditional breakfast foods and yummy lunch goodies like cheesesteaks and fries. Don't go with the expectation of Metro29/ Silver Diner-esque decor as you will be sorely disappointed. No, this place is homegrown and original, but that is one of the reasons I enjoy is as much as I do! Oh, and depending on how many other people are there to ease their hangover or enjoy a good ol' fashioned breakfast, parking can be a bit of a nuisance.

we went for a weekend brunch. while the food was decent 3 stars, the staff was friendly 4 stars, the pricing nice 4 stars, overall what you get is appropriate for the affordable price. eggs, sausages, pancakes were good, but I didn't think them outstanding. the real ding was that my coffee and her orange juice were too thin. Overall 2.5 stars.

(4)Timothy E.
(2)Meg L.
Food was exactly what we ordered. Didn't knock our socks off but didn't disappoint either. The convenience here is exceptional -- No wait to sit down & easy to park! The staff was very friendly & welcoming! Service with a smile could certainly be their motto!
(4)Bob T.
(3)Kristie S.
Linda's Café is a greasy spoon, it's not dirty, it's old. Standouts were the waffle and French toast. My omelette wasn't so great, the onion and pepper wasn't properly sautéed and was crunchy. The homefries weren't crispy or particularly warm. The service was very prompt and friendly, coffee was hot and fresh. This place is just fine for a greasy spoon.
(3)John Y.
Excellent food! Great service. Doesn't look like much from the outside... But has a great feel to it inside. Very "hole in the wall"-esque. Definitely a regular place to get breakfast/lunch/brunch.
(5)Nyasha C.
(5)Amy B.
Been coming here for years. Best diner food around! Do yourself a favor and order waffles, pancakes, French toast or a burger. Yum!!!
(5)Jess C.
(4)Mike F.
(4)Taylor B.
(4)L C.
(3)Joe L.
A decent greasy spoon diner. Coffee is good, breakfast is good...what else is there to say. Solid.
(3)Tom M.
(4)Grace O.
(5)Nikki B.
(5)Carrie N.
Good luck.
(1)Mary T.
Good 'ol all American neighborhood diner. Love this place! It's small and always filled with regulars. It's reasonably priced and the staff are always so warm and friendly. I've gone for breakfast multiple times and have yet to have a complaint!
(4)Tonya C.
We went for the first time at the height of a lunch rush, and the man behind the counter still managed to be efficient about getting our group of seven apportioned throughout the establishment. It wasn't exactly the family meal we'd anticipated, but the food was tasty and served with a smile.
(4)Christy K.
(5)Amanda M.
(3)Shae S.
(2)G H.

(2)Cyndy K.
(3)Troy M.
(3)Mark L.
If you're looking for some good ol american breakfast food..this is the spot. Basic breakfast items for a great price. Staff is super friendly..seems family owned which is a plus. Waffles=great eggs bacon=great

(2)Paul C.

(3)Ken P.
(5)Natalie R.
This place is amazing. My family has been going to Linda's for breakfast since I can remember, the staff has always been so kind and friendly, and their food is inexpensive and never fails. I recommend the gyro platter-- so good!
(5)Justin L.
Non-existent parking. Non-existent seating capacity. Non-existent service. It may as well not exist!
(1)Daniel A.
(4)Andrew B.
Excellent place to go with friends and family for an affordable, home-cooked meal. The staff treats you like family. I recommend those places to all of my friends in Arlington.
(5)Jim M.
I love Linda's! But don't expect more than what it is: a greasy spoon-type joint with friendly service and good prices. They have a broad menu and I've never gotten anything that wasn't good...and the prices are great. Highly recommend it.
(4)Scott S.
(3)Adam A.
(2)A. N.
(3)Mac O.
(3)Andrea N.
(5)Matt A.
A small greasy diner with lots of charm and great tasting food. Go here for breakfast or burgers. Friendly staff. Not very clean, so lower your expectations before eating here.
(3)Alfonso L.
(2)Melissa S.
(4)Lawson E.
(4)Matt C.
(2)Katy M.
(4)Joanne L.
(1)Annalena W.
(3)Bro H.
Good diner food, reasonable prices. If what you want is diner food, and you're nearby, come here. If you don't want diner food, don't go to this establishment. If you're far away, there's probably a closer diner to you than this one that you should go to instead.
(4)Mike S.
(5)F. O.
(1)Julie P.
(4)Y B.
(1)Jessica M.
(4)James S.
- Great breakfast! - plenty o parking! (unlike bob and ediths) - lots of seating (also unlike bob and ediths) - great service and food comes quick - solid value
(4)Le T.
Favorite breakfast place in the area! Cheap and delicious food and a really great staff, but if you're looking for something fancy, don't come here.
(4)Michael G.
I had a nice Sunday breakfast today. Great food, attentive service, and a nice homey atmosphere

(4)Quaker W.
(1)Chase M.
(4)Minda M.
(3)C B.
(4)Joe G.
A very nice mom-and-pop diner, located in one of Arlington's more pleasant neighborhoods.
(4)Katie F.
(5)J B.
Found this place a week after moving to town and quickly became a regular. I can't speak to the lunch menu because their breakfast is too good to pass up and try out the lunch options. Friendly and fast. My go-to option several times a week. Great pancakes. Don't miss it.
(5)Greg M.
(4)Umit I.
I got the country ham once and it was a thin dry old piece of greasy ham. Came back to give it another shot and got the corned beef hash which was ok but they gave me a 5 year olds serving. Dont think Id come back.
(2)Joelle H.
Great Homestyle breakfast food for when I do not feel like cooking. Service is awesome and friendly.
(4)Aaron H.
(2)Luis And Dave U.
To everyone who has never been here it's worth the trip. My boyfriend and I have been here twice in the last 2 weeks for breakfast and had no issues with the quality of the food and coffee and even think the food is much better then the "get them in, get them out" of most national chains as the food is actually cooked and not reheated, as it's very hot upon delivery and you can taste the ingredients. They will adjust the meals for anyone who has specials needs or those who just want to mix and match. This is the typical small town like place so if you want massive seating and server drones then this is not the place for you, but if you like the feeling the they are happy that you stopped by then you wont be disappointed, yes seating is limited but that's the trade off for the more personal service but don't worry because the locals that eat there do not linger and the staff is very good with getting everyone seated in a timely manner. ok the place is kind of old and a bit of a Dive... but hey isn't retro in Each visit the service was great and the waitress even asked our names and used them, then introduced us to her daughter that also works there and she asked our names as well. Yes there is limited parking in the front, but there is a parking lot behind the store and on weekends you can park in the lot next to the café as those shops are closed. So a break from those monster chains and very enjoy your food and give this place a chance.
(5)Artur K.
(4)Linh O.
Pretty decent and good local place. If you go make sure you order some French toast! They make the best french toast as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise it can get a little too expensive to eat here if you're super hungry but the good news is that their portions here are HUGE.
(4)Jen S.
(5)Jayson W.
It's a diner. It's good. It's a greasy spoon. It's EXACTLY what it should be! And they're friendly.
(3)Angela J.
(4)Fletch F. F.
(4)Tim P.
You have to appreciate Linda's cafe for what it is, which is a no frills local diner-ish eating hole. This is the place where you and your best friend go to talk. You're not holding business meetings here but there is a comfort in its simplicity. I'm a fan.
(4)DeerEyes A.
(4)Lindsey R.
(5)J W.
(1)B W.
Great greasy breakfast diner food; less generic clientele than metro diner 29.
(4)Osman A.
I have been going to Linda's Cafe for years despite the ho-hum food quality. Some mornings you just need to taste greasy home fries and high-calorie waffles -- Linda's fits the bill exactly!
(3)Jim O.
(4)Kirk W.
(4)Keith H.
(4)Sara P.
Good, reasonably priced diner with amazingly fast service. The cheese grits make me happy.
(4)Brandon S.
It is closer to a diner then anything else we have here. I look forward to a 2nd visit.

Great little diner with staff that will remember you if you are a regular. I've only been there for breakfast. Good waffles and pancakes.
