its a decent take out place. certainly not the *best* gyros in the DC metro. the meat was a bit dry and taste was just OK. the sauce is also average. maybe i'll go back since it is so close to home but i can't say i'm too impressed

Not sure how to rate them. Customer service is always super friendly. Hummus is AWESOME - lick the container good. I always buy multiple containers and I'm not usually a fan of hummus. Kabobs and gyros are probably four-star. I primarily go take out, restaurant decor is kind of corny (doubles as a nightclub).

This place is awesome! I regret the years I lived on the Pike before I discovered Atilla's. Everything that I've had has been great and reasonably priced. I've only dined in the restaurant once because we usually get take out. The service in the restaurant and take out has been excellent. Unfortunately, they do not deliver, but it is definitely worth your time to make the trip to dine in or for carry out.

The staff for both the restaurant and the carry-out of this Turkish establishment are very friendly. The food is always solid, and they revamped the look of the dining area a while back, and it looks good. They also have a market around the side which I admittedly don't go into, but it's cool that it's there. I love the hummus, falafel salad and turkish coffee. Atilla's is recommended!

Friendly staff, no frills restaurant. Price is okay. Their food bland for my taste. I might go to them once in a long while.

Yes. Not being a huge risk taker with food, I dared to try take out from this place with my sister, who had just returned home from a trip to Turkey. Not only was it incredibly delicious, but my sister said it was even better than some of the food she had while traveling on her trip. The Adana kabob was particularly memorable, as well as the Lamacun. We will be ordering from here regularly from now on! Highly recommend.
(5)Pedro R.
The Gyros are great, I always ask for extra onions and tizitki sauce. Bomb diggity. The kabobs are good too although the prices have been getting a little steep for me lately. I also tried the mushroom soup today which impressed me.

I'm giving Atilla's 2.5 stars, rounding up to 3. I arrived here on a Saturday evening and the place was almost completely empty. There was a host stand, so my friend and I waited but weren't acknowledged. We had to hunt someone down to seat us. Our waitress wasn't very friendly initially, but warmed up to us after a while. Overall, the food was good but not great. Here's what we shared: Hummus - really good with a spicy kick Gyro - under seasoned, but very large and under $10 Doner kebab - as described on the menu, "thin tender slices of a mixture of lamb and beef charbroiled on vertical rotisserie, served over pita bread or rice pilaf." This was good, but not great. Spinach and Feta Pie - It wasn't anything special. I didn't taste any feta at all. This restaurant satisfied my gyro craving for the evening. I may come back and give it another try because my friend lives close-by.

I eat from here almost weekly, so should give a review! The ladies behind the counter are super friendly, and the food tastes fresh and light and delicious. I always get the chicken kebab platter, and the chicken is juicy, the marinated onions are great, and the sauce that comes with it is a perfect accompaniment. They have a large parking lot, and a carry-out section and then a separate restaurant. There is also a Turkish store accessible from the parking lot, but I've never been in there. All in all, great Turkish/Mediterranean eats on Columbia Pike!
(5)Mileska R.
I go here for the Gyro Greek Salad with no bread. The salad is great and fresh and the gyro meat is awesome. They're closed Mondays so you've been warned if you're crazing Gyro goodness on Monday. I come here on the regular because the people are nice and the food is good.

I've been going to Atilla's for nearly 40 years and it's quality remains excellent. It has the best pita anywhere, the best cajik, the best tomato sauce, the best hummus, and the best baklava. Tastes in gyros vary, but their gyros suit my tastes very well indeed. In recent years I've mostly gotten food from the carry-out side. I call ahead and it's ready for pickup. Table service can be somewhat spotty, but it's hard to beat the value.
(5)Gio D.
Good cheap eat place. If you're looking for a nice meal with friendly service and a relatively low price I would say swing on by its not a bad place. Gyro's weren't the best but weren't bad, tilapia dish was very good and the veggie mousakka was good. The deserts are fairly simple and unimaginative but overall not bad. For the price, its a great option in the area.
(3)Ju L.
Pros: Take-out and grocery store are attached. Friendly waitstaff that speaks limited English. Hefty entree portions, but the appetizer portions are small. Outdoor seating. Cons: N/A
(3)Avril G.
From the outside, the restaurant looks slightly sketchy, but once you walk inside, it's quite nice! There is also a bar with a TV towards the back of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I normally order take-out but we decided one day to dine-in. The wait staff is very friendly and personable. I noticed that they treat everyone like family. Even the diners here were friendly (a man at the bar bought us a round of Turkish coffee!). As for the food, it is amazing! I've been to Istanbul and I find the food to be excellent and Atilla's provides that same level of excellence. I will be back soon!
(5)Oliver J.
At the sit down restaurant: The hummus and fresh bread - get it, got it, good. The baba ganoush - smokey - nothing special. I got the sausage and cheese sandwich and the gyro. It was cool trying the sausage and cheese combo. The gyro was meh - tasted and looked like packaged meat rather than meat off a spit. My friends felt their dishes was mediocre. Service was really friendly. I sense they need to pick up some slack and take this restaurant up a notch (make more things fresh and tasty that they are proud of) or it will be out of business soon.
(3)Ashley B.
All I can say is go here! Note: this review is for the take-out side. Atilla's has become one of my go-to spots for take-out food. My husband and I try to come here at least once a week, and we are never disappointed! The gyros and kabobs are all amazing!! We have tried several other kabob places in the area, and I would have to say that Atilla's tops them all! Love this place!!

We stopped by on a Friday evening, as we were in the neighborhood and were in the mood for some good Mediterranean food, which it certainly was. I really enjoyed Turkish food when I lived in Berlin, including the ubiquitous doener kebap, and this place has never disappointed. This time I tried the Iskender kebab, which is offered only on Friday and Saturday evenings, consisting of doener meat (ground lamb and beef) shaved thin and served over cubes of pita bread, mixed with a yogurt sauce, and with a tomato sauce on top. Very very good. My wife wasn't in the mood for meat at first (hint: go to a good Turkish restaurant only if you have an appetite for meat, because that's what you'll get!), but after the very helpful server suggested the beyti (sp?) kebab in place of the falafel, she ordered that and was very pleased---it consists of the lamb meat from the Adana kebab, wrapped in lavash bread and cut into small segments. The baklava that we had for dessert, along with Turkish coffee, was a cut above what we've had at other places, and the server explained that they make pastries fresh right there. As with previous visits here, the food was very good, as was the service, the only thing missing were other customers, which was surprising (one more table came in before we left, but other than that, we were the only ones there) given how good our experiences have been here, both this time and in the past. Definitely plan to come back when we make it to Arlington.
(5)David H.
3.5 stars for me Sandwiches are pretty good, decently priced. I haven't yet found a gyro in arlington that's really spot on, but this is a little different - sandwiches are stuffed into the pita pocket with toppings. Meat was decent, flavors were ok but pretty standard thin slices of meat.
(3)Anna M.
Food is ok. Service is terrible. 2 other people in restaurant and waitstaff wasn't paying attention. Waste of time.
(1)Tu-van L.
A doner kabob place! You don't know how I've been looking for you. And you're not too bad of one too. Note that this place is split up. One side is the sit-down restaurant while the other side is the take out deli. Just outside the deli are some concrete tables and benches for seating, which we opted to do on such a nice day. The Hubs and I went more casual and ordered our done kabobs from the deli side; he got it as a wrap and I got as a platter. The wrap was pretty hearty and not too ginormous with plenty of meat. My platter was huge with the shaved meat sitting on a piece of pita and some tomato sauce thing poured next to it with my sides and that thicker pita-like bread I opted for. Also got the baba gannoush. A pint size container of excellent spread with that smokiness I like in them. A MUST get. I don't remember the dessert I got but it was a cinnamon-y version of flam that was great. All that food was enough for the two of us to share a meal plus extra for me the next day. Pretty good.
(4)Kimberly S.
I find their gyros to be a little bit under seasoned and yogurt to be a little bit thick but I find myself coming to this take out portion of Atilla's on an almost weekly basis. If you live on the Pike it is one of the best locally owned businesses to find a fairly healthy, quick meal for under $10. A few things to note: - They will only accept credit cards if your order is over $10. - They also offer full rice kebab platters and even have swordfish on the menu. - Chicken Gyros only take five minutes to make! - There are three portions of Atilla's: the grocery store (their hummus is something else!), take out with a few dingy tables, and a full service restaurant.
(3)Lilian S.
I just recently discovered this place and so far I like it! Gyros are good. Service- depends who is on the register.
(3)Alan W.
Came here once for a large carry out order. I would give them a 3.5 Star. I think the food is pretty good, with a good size portion. But nothing really stood out to me. The fresh bread was a little bit tough. Other then that, it was good. I will definitely try this place again.
(3)Nicholas A.
I'm Not SUPER stoked on this place but it's worth a second try. Decent shop for a quick and easy lunch. I did not go crazy and try different items. Went simple with a Cheese steak and fries. The fries was OUTSTANDING. The place is very tiny inside. Not much for a sit and dine place, although they do have 3 tables and 7 chairs. Could I eat here again yes. Would I make it my go to place not really.
(3)Sydney M.
This is one of my favorite places to get lunch on a workday. I love the various pita options and they put it together very quickly. An extra pita slice is totally worth it -- comes soft and warm and delicious! The hummus is made in-house and is very smooth and tasty. Be sure to bring cash if your order is under $10.

I just organized a small Birthday dinner there. First of all, it was a tiny bit hard to get in touch with them. I had left a voicemail and had send two emails which were never answered... I called again and it worked out eventually. Still - for someone who wants to run a good business, I'd suggest a bit more effort in this matter. Here is what was the actual reason for my three stars only: The prices you pay for Döner and what you actually get for it. And what I mean here, is the quality of the Döner meat. To explain it a little - I am from Germany where, since we have many turkish immigrants, people's favorite food (actually #1 fast food) is the Döner Kebap. A Döner Kebab never ever in the world contains pressed meat! Not in any of the hundred places I've been to. We grow up on Döner, 50% of my friends are from Turkey and I've been to Turkey twice. I don't want to be a "smart-ass" here... but any turkish person that I know, would be insulted if you served them pressed meat! A Döner should come with pure meat (usually lamb) only !! We paid $20 (!!) for a plate of some pressed meat and Yoghurt sauce :( The flavor was OK. I can't say it was great, because it was just OK to me. BUT above all, it was not the pure good quality meat that I have eaten so many times before and that was disappointing, since we really were hoping to get the real deal Döner. Good quality meat is a MUST in any mediterranean kitchen!!! And for that I would not mind to pay $20. I didn't know that it was going to be pressed meat, otherwise I would have ordered something else. Another big issue was the check. They were not able to split the check.... that was a big deal to me, since the entire bill was $300. The 3 stars and my thumbs up are for this: Everything else of the food was authentic, or at least as I know it. The only comment here: the appetizers are somewhat very small for their price. But at least they tasted exactly like the foods I used to eat my turkish friends' house. I liked them all. Their bread is the bes.... And so is the yoghurt sauce! That made us all very happy. I so missed the bread and the yoghurt sauce and almost ate myself to death. LOL. The waitress was very friendly. Our thumbs up for her too! Even that the service overall was kind of slow.... a bit too slow. Maybe I'd hire an additional waiter for the weekends. The ambience was nice. They must have just renovated the place, since everything looked new. I liked that they didn't mind us being a bit noisy - as I said, we were in a smaller group (10 people + 2 kids) and we also stayed three hours, since it was a Birthday get-together. I would also say that it's definitely a family friendly restaurant. I liked that part as well. If I'd go there again, I'd just get a different meat dish and ask if the meat was pure or pressed (pressed is just not what you want). If you want the real deal of a Döner, then I would not recommend this one. But all in all, it was not a terrible experience and we also had some good stuff (ry the rice pudding for desert!) Some improvements and the place will be great!
(3)Richard M.
The food was excellent. The baclava was awesome. The best I have has so far. The hummus was also excellent - very well balanced. The ambiance was very simple and welcoming. Will definitely be returning.

(This review is purely for the take-out side, which is connected to the large dining area that's closed on Mondays.) On Mondays at least, Attilla's is a small, hole-in-the-wall take-out restaurant with excellent food at pretty good prices. (If you want more space, other than on Mondays Attilla's also has a regular-sized restaurant dining room right next door.) The food is full of flavor. 'Unfortunately' for me in the case of a review, the baklava was so good -- sweet, honeyed goodness... --that I've since forgotten anything else I might've added about the flavor of the rest of my meal. (It's a trauma I'm willing to experience over and over again though.) The staff is friendly and patient. The only drawback to Attilla's is the extremely limited seating (eight seats at four two-person tables); however, in nice weather there's a decent-size outdoor area if you don't want to take the food home or eat in your car.
(4)Cyndy K.
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Great place for Turkish food! 3.5 stars. We were in search of a lunch spot and hubby found Atilla's. Parking is easy because they have a big lot on the side of the restaurant. We went on a Saturday and were the only ones there. This is what we ate: 1. GRILLED SWORDFISH - Skewered Swordfish served with sautéed vegetables and rice pilaf. The swordfish was cooked and seasoned well. The sautéed mix of grilled vegetables were delicious! 2. DONER KEBAB (served on Friday and Saturday only) Thin tender slices of a mixture of lamb and beef charbroiled on vertical rotisserie, We were lucky to dine on a Saturday when they serve the diner kabob. Delicious slices of lamb and beef on top of rice pilaf. All the juices from the lamb and beef are soaked up by the rice which is so tasty. 3. Baklava - it is made daily and is so decadent.
(3)Tai F.
Really I just can't think of a bad thing to say about this cute little hole in the wall Turkish restaurant. We popped in here for a quick bite and it was scrumptious. Totally hit the spot. Mom and I shared the lamb kebab entree. It came with tons of rice, pita and the kebab. We also had the rice pudding to finish the meal. The staff was pleasant and enthusiastic. The food was fresh and tasty. It was a small place but there was still plenty of room to sit. I'm sure if we were in the area again we'd come back here. Parking was a breeze.
(5)Dee K.
I used to go to the carry out part of Atilla's often when I worked close by and now only rarely get over there which is painful as I love the food. My favorite thing is the hummus veggie wrap- I always get extra hummus to take home, best hummus in the area by far!
(5)Tim B.
This is a lunch review. Ambience: 3 hard to say, we were the only ones in there. The booth was fine, new floors, not much on the decor side, but clean. Food: 3 Babaganush was good. Koy Tavuk (chicken) was good. Gyro meat was good, but pita was a bit less than fresh. Location: 4 On Columbia Pike near Cinema and Draft House, easy to find, has its own parking spaces. Price: 4 Prices were fine. Service: 4 Good, no issues, prompt, not overbearing.
(4)Lia M.
I enjoy Atilla's, both for take-out and dine-in. It's not fancy, but it's reasonably priced and the food is tasty. The take-out section is tiny, with only a few tables, plus a few more tables in the adjacent parking lot. Call ahead is the way to go. The dining room, which is a separate entrance, is huge, with plenty of tables and a small bar in the back. Service was friendly both times, though neither evening was especially crowded or busy (each visit was on a Saturday). However, the customer service in the take-out part is so awful. Everyone has been extremely rude and unfriendly. I've ordered the chicken kabob wrap, fries, baklava, sigara bourek, and lamb shank, plus tried my companion's entrée of iskender kabob. The chicken kabob wrap and fries were very good and quite filling. The baklava was tasty, fresh, and covered with honey syrup instead of straight honey, which made it less sticky. When dining in, a fluffy pita (almost laffa-like) and olive oil are left on the table, which I enjoyed. We both had the Turkish red wine, Kavaklidere Yakut, which is paired well with our dishes and is a steal at $6.50. The sigara bourek were crisp and overflowing with cheese. I loved my lamb shank, which was quite tender. It was accompanied with rice, grilled peppers, and eggplant. My friend's iskender kabob was good, but I preferred my entrée. Portions are huge and you'll definitely have leftovers, which is a plus. Another great option in my neighborhood always delights me, and Atilla's has great food, but the customer service is so awful that I won't be returning to the carry-out section.
(2)Amy O.
I have no idea why this place always seems empty. It's one of my favorite places in Arlington. The hummus is amazing and comes with warm bread. I usually get the moussaka, but I have also ordered other things I can't pronounce and won't even try to spell. I'm never disappointed. The service is okay. Not usually great, but never outright bad.
(5)Nicole P.
This restaurant is a pretty decent place to have in the neighborhood! I recommend it to anyone wanting to branch out of the norm. They have some delicious Turkish wine that I really enjoyed, and our server was friendly and helpful with suggestions! I definitely recommend stopping in.
(4)Z D.
We went for dinner at the main restaurant which was closed due to the AC not working. Instead we just went to their deli (attached right next door to restaurant's entrance) and ordered some falafel and gyro; very tasty food, quick, friendly service. Definitely get the cucumber yogurt with these two staple orders. We'll be back for both pick up and dine in.
(4)Vishal S.
Awesome hole in the wall for good food. We were looking for greek food and found this place on Yelp. Its a big dive but food is authentic and non greasy and flavorful! The gyro and hummus are excellent. Seating is minimal - mostly takeout crowd. Their parking lot is 2X the restaurant size! Dont expect no fine dining here - just good food!
(4)Okomo M.
I've eaten here twice--the first time about 6 or 7 months ago in the carryout section and the last time about a month ago in the actual restaurant. This review is about the most recent visit. I also feel it's somewhat important to point out I lived in Turkey for a year and a half and ate a *lot* of Turkish food, specifically iskender; I was once at a point where I was eating iskender every single day. So I'm fairly familiar with what's authentic and what's not. The food was good. Probably even great--my issue with it was I've been hoping to get my hands on a good iskender for over a year now and this was definitely not it. It was a good dish, I'll repeat that. But if you're like me and are looking for authentic Turkish food, keep searching. You can tell they're trying and coming close (and obviously it can't be exactly the same), but it's rather disappointing. I WILL say, though, that I ordered the soup and it was fantastic--basically tasted like I was in Turkey again, super nostalgic and very good. I don't have much to say about the service. It took a while for me to be acknowledged when I first walked in (even though it was extremely slow--there was only one other table there) but once I was finally attended to, the servers on duty were very nice. One of the chefs checked to see if I liked my food which I was really surprised by. Kind of an intimidating guy, but that's probably just his personality; he was very polite. TL;DR- It's good Turkish food but not super authentic. The soup is A+. Maybe the service is more attentive when it's just a little busier? I would definitely recommend it to people wanting to try Turkish food for the first time but not to anyone familiar with the cuisine.
(3)David H.
I went on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday and I was surprised to find the place mostly empty and with a layout that seems like there are fewer tables than you would expect based on the size of the place. I headed to the (fairly small but uncrowded) bar and had a glass of red Yakut wine (not bad, has a little bit of a cherry flavor) while I waited for the rest of our party. I ordered the beef shish kabob which is grilled chunks of fillet mignon with grilled onions, tomatoes, and peppers. The beef was lean and not too overly seasoned and the vegetables were grilled without being charred to ashes. It was served with rice and I would recommend this entree and order it again. Also, it was served with a salad (lettuce, tomatoes, and what almost seemed to be pickled cabbage and a type of vinaigrette dressing). They serve bread which wasn't bad but wasn't too warm/fresh and could have used olive oil for dipping. On the plus side, the baklava was excellent and tasted homemade. It was little expensive, but then again it's DC, but the food was excellent and it seems like getting a table isn't usually a problem (by the end of the meal we were the only people in the restaurant). I'll go here again and would recommend this place for Mediterranean/Turkish food.
(4)Justin C.
Dine-in review. Went with the Gyro and appetizer of falafel. Both were really good, the lamb meat in the gyro was delicious, and the falafel came with two good dipping sauces - a hummus and a yogurt sauce. Baklava for dessert was good too.
(4)Janet C.
Great meal with hubby and friends at Atillas Turkish restaurant prior to a show at the Arlington Draft House (less than a block away). The Attila mix appetizer for two was more than enough for four! Hummus was delightful as other Yelp members have indicated and the other items on this full plate were excellent - notable favs were the feta, babagnoush, and cucumber yogurt dip. Donner (gyro meat platter) was enjoyed by everyone else as I loved my falafel sandwhich that were good with the yogurt sauce. Don't be concerned about the lack of patrons or decor, the food is really good. Please note that the huge parking lot does not allow for theater parking. The restaurant may drum up some more business if they allowed patrons to remain parked in their lot for a show after dinner.
(4)S. B.
Atilla's carryout for Turkish food has been my go to place when I need to feed a large group and don't have time to cook. I call in advance (even the day before to make sure they can make it all) and serve delicious dinners of pastitsio, moussaka, spinach pies. Anything I have ordered has been delicious. I came here to reveiw to tell everyone to check out the Atilla's grocery store around the back that you enter from the parking lot. I go there weekly now to buy feta and olives. The bulgur wheat, dried apricots and jams I have gotten are reasonably priced and the best quality. You really feel you are shopping in Turkey at this place. They will recommend which product if you aren't sure which cheese or whatever else to get. This is also a great place to park for the excellent farmer's market across the street on Sunday mornings until 12 noon.
(4)Christine H.
Walked with a group of ladies from work to grab some lunch, since yelp reviews had been very positive. When we walked in, around noon...we were the only patrons. We were worried for a second, but a nice man sat us and was patient while we figured out what we wanted to order, share as sides, etc... I ordered gyro meat on a greek salad, excellent and a large portion...we shared hummus and baba ghanouj...which was AMAZING! Others ordered gyros and sausage meals...all very good. We will definitely be back. The place needs a facelift, but the food is great!
(4)waleska p.
This is one of my favorite places, since I am a low carber I get the Greek Salad with Gyro meat. It is satisfying and filling. Their humus is delicious, and my hubby likes their Gyros. You can call ahead and pick up within 15 minutes. They make everything when you order so if you do not call you will have to wait and every time I have been there, there is a crowd waiting. Portions are really good. They also sell their Gyro meat by the pound. The review is for take out, been picking up for years, never been to the sit down restaurant. Support the Pike and our small businesses!

I needed to find a place to go with 2 gluten-free friends. Anything Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, of which Turkish cuisine is a member, is always a good bet for this. The place itself looks like a hole in the wall, and the waitstaff was quite nice, despite the language barrier that tripped us up a few times. There is a pretty large menu, so it took us awhile to make a decision. For starters, looks can be deceiving, as this place doesn't have a very stylish decor, but the food was served with a surprisingly modern presentation. Everything was plated in a very clean manner, typically uncharacteristic of hole-in-the-wall ethnic food. I am bummed that the table bread was more like foccia, as I would have preferred (and expected) some pita. I love mezze, so I was glad there was an appetizer sampler on the menu. Since it has no description, I am still somewhat unclear as to what exactly it consisted of, though if I were to guess I'd say this: taboule, kisir, white bean salad, feta, dolma, eggplant sauce, and humus. The taboule and kisir were unlike any other version I've had, as the bulgur was so big it was essentially like orzo and it was more like a seasoned rice than a salad--less veggies, more starch. But it was very flavorful and I liked it all the same. The humus was fantastic, creamy and on the thinner side. I was not a great fan of the white bean salad, as I am usually not, nor of the eggplant sauce which was too spicy and bitter for me. I also ordered the kasar saganda, in the hopes that it would be comparable to my absolute favorite Greek food, saganaki (as they are essentially the same, down to the name and type of cheese). Unfortunately, it did not live up to those high hopes, as the kasar used in this restaurant is much less firm than I prefer, and it had very little crust, which is the best part. But it was still yummy (it is melted cheese, after all). I ordered the chicken shish kebab as my entree. The chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. There weren't as many veggies as I would have liked, as there was one big piece of charred tomato and bell pepper and a few small slices of onion on the plate of 5 or so chicken cubes. It was served with what tasted like basmati rice, which really didn't compliment the taste of the chicken as much as perhaps a pilaf would have. Thankfully, it was served with yogurt sauce, which I was disappointed had been absent from my appetizer platter, as this is my 2nd-fav thing. I finished with some baklava, which were yummy, but way overdressed with butter and syrup. I had to literally wring out the excess onto the plate, which left a pool of at least 1/4 cup excess, and frankly grossed me out a bit. I clearly prefer a drier, more honeyfied baklava. The portions were much smaller than I expected, which is also uncharacteristic for this sort of food. I think this is the first time in my entire life I have ordered Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food I liked and had zero leftovers to take home. That was definitely a disappointment. So, the bang-for-your-buck isn't really there. But the food was good enough that I would most def recommend it. 3rd-best I've had in the DC metro thus far.

Best Gyros in town. For maximum pleasure, ask for double meat. I prefer the lamb but the chicken gyros are good as well.

This review pertains to the dine-in side of the restaurant. I discuss what I like about the restaurant and offer some constructive ideas to go the next rating level. First, we were seated immediately, service was speedy and the food quality is amazingly near 4.5 stars. We tried the Spicy Kofte kebab served over sauteed pita bread with yogurt and fresh tomato sauce. Amazingly full of texture and flavor contrasts with respect to the smooth soft yogurt contrast with textured seared lamb. Also we tasted the baked layered eggplant, tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, onions and spinach, topped with Bechamel sauce and Kashari cheese, served with rice pilaf. There was also a jalapeno pepper and potato in there for contrast too. Second, some easy ideas that could help this restaurant go to the next level. The signage could be a little more visible from the road (taller font size) as we had to search the grocery store, take-out to find the dine-in restaurant. I think the person serving us did not quite get the arithmetic right which delayed the close out a little. Overall this restaurant met or exceeded what we ate in Istanbul or one of the better kept secrets in Arlington. I highly recommend this restaurant and think that this restaurant could easily go to the next level.

I've only been to the deli side where I got a falafel sandwich. It was pretty good. Because I'm a vegan I didn't get the yogurt sauce and the woman gave me a tomato sauce instead which was delicious. I'd get something else next time, such as the veggie kabobs. They have a veggie section on the menu which is nice. It's annoying that you can't pay with a card under $10.

This review is for the takeout side only... Yum!! Ate here for lunch the other day. I went very conservatively - I ordered the Chicken Kebab with salad - super delicious. I originally ordered the kofte kebab but when I mentioned my wheat allergy, they were quick to warn me that there might be flour in that dish. The spices were just right on my chicken and it was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the tzaziki - tasted very similar to how I've had it in Turkey/Greece. It was pretty crowded although most people were doing takeout. The eat in area is very small and I wouldn't recommend coming here to eat in when the restaurant is closed, but nevertheless. Super delicious and highly recommended.

3.5 stars. This restaurant had a really odd decor. The middle was a dance floor and dinning tables were spread sparsely within the restaurant. The place was clean but also had a 1980s cheesiness like the episode of No Reservation in Uzbekistan when Zamir took Bourdain to a club/restaurant/theater joint. The waitresses were friendly, but were amateurs and it was kind of hard to get their attention. The meal started with fresh romaine salad dressed with a tangy mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, and sumac. If you are a lover of lamb, then this restaurant is perfect. Husband claimed the doner kebab was one of the tastiest piece of grilled meat he has ever had (with the exception of a perfectly cooked prime aged filet mignon). The chicken bursa I had was also tender and flavorful, however the addition of tomato sauce along with the yogurt reminded me too much of Italian.

Atmosphere was average. Authentic turkish dinner and service was outstanding. I will be back.

I wish this restaurant was up in my neck of the woods (Boston). I would eat there weekly if I could. We ordered the grape leaves to start, which were a little different than I'm used to (I typically eat Lebanese style grape leaves). They were cold, and the spicing was different, but still delicious. We each ordered a lamb dish. I had the Pirzola over rice pilaf, which are lamb chops spiced *just perfectly*, and my partner had the Yogurtle Kofte Kebab which is spicy Kofte kebab served over sauteed pita bread with yogurt and tomato sauce. Both dishes were excellent. The hummus is the best hummus I've ever had.
(5)Diane M.
Solid Turkish food. 3.5 stars if I could. Baked cheese - 3 (but really, what can you do with baked cheese) Babaghanoosh - 5 (the best we've ever had, anywhere) Hummus - 3. (good flavor but a bit too creamy; we prefer some texture) Falafel salad- 3 (terrific falafel and yogurt sauce; salad part was OK) Lamb kabob - 4 (great flavor and portion) The service was a bit slow on a Saturday night. Our waitress was new and didn't have a lot of help in the dining room. But she was very friendly and anxious to please. We will be back.

Great food. Good prices. Amazing Humas. The more quick-eats, take-out portion of Atilla's is fantastic for a quick cheap bite to eat that is very filling and reasonable for the quality. Head next door to the restaurant-portion of the location for a sit-down meal that will cost extra but will be worth it in atmosphere, taste and... you get free humas and pita... winning.
(5)Alex K.
I can't say too much about the ambience because it's more like a small grocery store, but the food was fantastic. I got the kefta kabob and was super happy with it. Lamb and beef ground into delicious skewers. YUM! I'd definitely come back, but honestly, I'd probably just grab it to go and eat it at home.
(4)Baris S.
I've eaten here twice now and both times I haven't been too impressed. The food lacked an authentic Turkish flavor that I've gotten at other restaurants in the area. I was hoping for excellent iskender and instead it was pretty average. This place has potential though since there aren't many Turkish restaurants in Arlington.
(3)Joseph W.
This review is for the take-out. I like their falafel quite a bit. Everything is fresh and that especially makes a difference with the tahini sauce. The times that I've been there I've noticed that its not exactly fast food, but this place is still a great place for this neighborhood.
(3)Eliza L.
I've been coming here as a little tike. everything from the kebabs, pizza and gyros are delicious. it is a tad pricey for certain items but it is worth it.the desserts are to die for the rice pudding! YUM!

Spoiler alert: I now eat here about once a week! Why/When I tried it Spring 2012-present. My girlfriend and I moved to Columbia Pike a few months ago and decided to try this place out since it's only a few blocks from our apartment. Location/accessibility A huge parking lot beside the restaurant. There is also Atilla's Grocery Store, which, as I understand it, is run by the same owners, but isn't really a carry out place. The carry out portion of the establishment faces Columbia Pike. Although, the signs for Atilla's are very easy to miss if you're driving westbound on Columbia Pike. The restaurant is also easily accessible by bus, as MetroBus' route 16 lines travel up and down Columbia Pike. Atmosphere The atmosphere is that of an authentic, family run, Mediterranean restaurant, complete with thick accents, a small dining area, and blaring music. Admittedly, I've never been inside the grocery store. Menu/pricing Atilla's serves a huge variety of Mediterranean cuisine, including gyros, doener kabob, and various spiced meat and veggie dishes. They've even got a separate menu of vegetarian friendly items, which my girlfriend appreciates. I'd say they've also got some of the most fair pricing in the DC area, for example the gyro costs just under $7. Food I always get the gyro, which is made with your choice of lamb (the best!), chicken, or beef. My girlfriend typically enjoys the *vegetarian* falafel and hummus sandwich. The lamb is perfectly spiced, and lucky for me my girlfriend doesn't care for the tzadziki (sp?) sauce, which adds a cool, creamy note to the sandwiches--more for me! Overall, the food is wonderful and it reminds me of my travels through Europe/Russia and street food outside a metro station--ahh the memories! Service I've only ever been to the carry out portion, but since they make the food to order, you wind up having to wait about 10-15 if you simply walk in and order. I'd recommend calling ahead. Grading This is our go-to place on Columbia Pike. I'd highly recommend it. It checks all the major boxes in my book and I'm happy to give Atilla's my first 5-star review on Yelp. I really hope the owners see this and decide to give me free food...
(5)Jennifer S.
The falafel balls are amaz-balls!! I will be craving the veggie kebab in the very near future!!
(4)Sarah L.
So good and friendly service. The dining room is nothing special and kind of looks like an Elk's Lodge but the friendly service and terrific food definitely makes up for lack of atmosphere. There is also a takeout counter which I frequent. Everything I've tried is amazing but so far the Yogurtlu Kofte Kebob and the rice pudding are my favorites.
(4)Anastasia B.
The best baklava I ve had! I hate spicy cinnamony taste of most types of this dessert. It`s just too overwhelming. Not with these guys! It is super moist, has ton of honey, and is not overpowering at all. Fan for life! (the price is a bit high considering the size of the slices though) The kebab portion size is generous. The yogurt sauce is so-so, but it is not the star of the show anyways, so I did not care as much. Honestly, these guys are better that much-talked-about Kebab Palace in Crystal City.
(4)Christie G.
Atilla's is fabulous! The service is always great, and personally I think the have the best hummas and bread I have tasted. A shout out to the staff! My boy friend's 50th birthday was in November, when we arrived the staff was super friendly! The wonderful waitress we had didn't know it was a birthday party, (just a table of 8 :) When I told her it was his birthday she went into "birthday" mode :) She played birthday music and we danced and danced!! It was wonderful! As usual the food was great and the staff exceptional! I recommend Atilla's for either dinner for 2 :) or even a 50th birthday party!! Thank you giving us a wonderful evening and some great memories! We will be back!!
(5)Jen T.
We shared the hummus, kisir, cacik, and doner kebab and everything was delicious. We went here specifically on Friday for the doner kebab and it didn't disappoint. It was cooked perfectly and not too salty. I'll definitely be back for dinner or take out!
(5)Nikki M.
I just ate here. In contrast to others, I was the only person in the restaurant. I sat at the small counter and watched CNN while the waitress dried silverware in a napkin and took my order. It helped that I was starving, but even if I wasn't, I think that this was easily one of the better meals I've eaten in D.C. The waitress was super friendly and called for a cab and kept calling without my even having to ask until the cab arrived. Lovely evening for one on a rainy night in February.
(4)Gwen L.
AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!!! Hummus with pita is the best. Everything is wonderful. Hours need updated as they ARE open on Sunday!!!!
(5)Corinne M.
Love this place. Best suited for takeout. Baklava is awesome, as are other menu items. Major girl crush on the hottie who works there, but it's really the food that keeps me coming back ;)
(5)Marie A.
This review is for the sit down restaurant side. I've eaten at Atilla's carryout for years. The food is always tasty, the seating always limited, and calling ahead is definitely the way to go. Last night I ate at the restaurant with a couple of friends. This visit rated only 2 stars for the extremely bad service. Our waitress (who I think also cooks for the take away side) was not as pleasant and friendly to our table as she was to the table behind us. We had to ask for water and we had to ask her to refill the glasses. The food was excellent as usual. Then she brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert, and we did. We ordered the baklava, and when she brought the check with the dessert added on to the tab, the baklava was packaged in a to go box. Guess we were done with our meal. It's not like she needed the table as there was only two other diners who sat behind us and 4 people at the bar. Guess I'll stick to the carryout.

Ohhh how I LOVE Atillas :) A hidden gem. I've lived in Arlington my entire life and have passed by this little place hundreds of times and never have I ever thought about coming here to eat. Thanks to Yelp, I gave it a try one afternoon and lunch hasn't been the same since. I come here at least once a week for either lunch or dinner (carryout). Now I have to talk about the hummus. It's the best I've ever had!! It's sooo good, if you only get one thing here - get the hummus! It's so fresh, so flavorful and the bread that comes with it is really good too. I always order either the chicken or lamb gyro, and both are delicious. Not only is the food amazing, the service here is consistently great...everyone here is super sweet and friendly.
(5)Laura F.
This review is for carry out only. My husband and I come here at least once a month. I always get the same thing because it's my all time favorite sandwich in the world... the Veggie Delight, extra crispy! It's a fresh salad tucked in a warm pita drizzled with a house vinaigrette topped with feta and provolone cheese baked until it's extra crispy.. the way I like it! I do wish they would chop the cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes into smaller chunks though. I may request that next time. My husband gets the Chicken Hummus Veggie Pita... basically the same as mine, but with chicken and hummus added. He loves it. The Hummus is excellent! I've also had the Spinach Pita which is delicious too!
(4)Rick G.
Longevity and still good! I can't remember how long Atila's been doing, but they've done it well almost forever. No quality, no longevity!
(3)Ron C.
We carryout YOGURTLU ADANA KEBAB and CHICKEN SHISH KEBAB. Both are delicious, fresh and make us feel healthy. It won't be too salty or greasy. It is just right flavor. This is our first time to try Turkish Kebab. We like it. These entrees have large portion size. My wife and I cannot finish all in one dinner.
(4)J W.
The food here is a blend of Mediterranean, Turkish and American. You can get pizza, Greek style gyros or Middle Eastern Falafel. Had a few different items from the menu for take out. Super Falafel, chicken gyro, dolmades, and baklava. Service is always friendly and the food comes out tasting fresh. Good food. Worth a stop.
(4)Cris Q.
The gyros with red sauce are the best in the area and we always take home the rice pudding, excellent, hummus and a bag of pita for the freezer I pop into the toaster with butter for later. The grilled fish dinners cannot be beat, even the vegetables are incredible. Cannot beat the excellent food for the price, wonderful! Yassou!
(5)Sarah C.
I have now stopped into Atilla's a couple times for carryout. I always leave satisfied with the quantity of food received for my money - an all around good value for the area. The gyros are tasty and the fresh baked pitas give me warm fuzzies. The lentil soup is really quite good - a mild spicy kick that when paired with a squeeze of fresh lemon provides a hearty, belly-warming treat. By far my favorite go-to joint in the area.
(4)David K.
My experience has been primarily with the take-out portion of Atilla's, which I believe serves the best gyro in the DC area. This hole in the wall take out on Columbia Pike is easy to drive past and not notice, but this corner of Columbia Pike is proving to be a real haven of Turkishness. Not only is there the Atilla's carry out, there is a full sit down restaurant serving classic Turkish fare, along with a fully stocked Turkish grocery. The gyro meat is freshly cut off of the spit and has a great blend of flavors and spices in it. The tzatziki sauce is top notch here and immensely wonderful. Don't overlook the other menu items however. The souvlaki is very tasty, as is the fresh hummus and falafel. Their baklava is among the best I've had, perfectly sticky and sweet. The prices at the carry out (and the sit-down restaurant for that matter) are very reasonable. You will have a delicious lunch here for under 7 dollars. Don't be afraid to sample this gem. You will be transported to Istanbul with a trip here. Note that there is barely any seating, although there is a picnic table outside for the warmer months. Be sure to pick up a jar of ajvar at the Turkish grocery while you're there.
(4)Olivia J.
I've been coming to Atilla's since 2002, when I moved in two blocks away. My favorite meal as a poor 22-year old was Atilla's hummus, the free bread that came with it, and a 6-dollar bottle of pinot noir from the supermarket nearby. As I grew through my twenties, I continued to frequent Atilla's for the rice pudding, tzatizki and wholesome sandwiches. I shopped at the grocery store behind it to get olives and foreign cheeses. Now I live in a ritzier neighborhood, but I still continue to make the 25-minute drive to Atilla's for hummus pick-up (in bulk). You'll never buy supermarket hummus again. Atilla's hummus has a whipped consistency with just a touch of spice and none of that "stinky smell" that you can find from cumin-laden supermarket hummus. Try it! You'll eat buckets.
(5)D. W.
I love Atilla's. I've only had the take out but think it's the best. Everything I've had is fresh and the hot items are made to order. Try it you'll love it.
(5)Diane M.
Wow. I am SO happy I found this place (thank you, Art and Frame Club, for being closed early that one night). Having eaten my fair share of doener kebab in Germany and Turkey, then having to quit cold turkey due to serious lack of doener goodness in the US, this place has been a savior. Best Turkish in the area hand's down, imho. It's all good: hummus, gyro, kebabs, sucuk, koefte. Mouth-wateringly good. Well worth the 20+ minute drive to get there from Falls Church. So if you're like I was, lamenting the lack of tasty Turkish sandwichs in your life, you have to try this place. Life will get just a little bit better.
(5)Ken B.
This place is fabulous. Really, really good food, service that's prompt and friendly but not pretentious, never a wait, not too expensive. It's not a super classy place, so if you're looking to impress clients, maybe not. If you want to eat some screamin-good mediterranean food (hummus and pita is top-notch!) and not be out too much cash tho, this is the place. And it's right next to one of the better salsa joints in the DC area as well. Score!
(5)Caroline U.
I tried Atillas because of the Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. They have Turkish style gyros, wraps, doner kebabs, falafels, baklava, etc. Dine in or carry out and the prices are decent ($6 for a carry out gyro). The best part? It's European street-food style. Every other gyro and falafel I've had in the US has been greasy with questionable bread. They were still tasty of course. I had just conditioned myself to so-so Mediterranean food. Luckily Atillas raised my standards. Minus a star for the location and restaurant layout. Parking at CVS down the block is ok. The storefront is nondescript and more of a patio area and more tables in the carry-out section would be nice.
(4)Cory H.
Maybe I should start reviewing places that are not that good, but I can't resist when I find a gem. I have really only had three things here, but since finding this place just a couple weeks back, I have barely made it through a day or two without going back. They call it Turkish, but my naive Amaerican way of thinking refers to it as a Greek place. I guess I just don't know the difference. The falafel is good...it needs some added sauce, or hummus, as it is a bit dry...but then again its falafel. They give you some tzatziki (their yogurt sauce), so it that works just fine. I just like mine with a little more wetness. The hummus is amazing. One of the best I have ever had, and definitely had here in the NOVA area. But what I am enjoying on an almost daily basis, is known as the Chicken Hummus Veggie Pita. And its perfect. The chicken is slightly shredded and tender, the hummus is brilliant, and the typical added veggies and tzatziki, bring it all together. They add provolone, which I actually do without, because I like tasting the Feta...but its good either way. From the other reviews, I feel like I need to try the Gyro, but have been trying to stick to healthier options. I guess if you are ordering for two, and want to split your orders...get the CHV as the second... Cheers
(5)Salmaan T.
I've had takeout once and dined at the restaurant once. Both times, prices were a bit different than what I thought I saw on the menu. Maybe it was me both times. Anywhoooo, the lamb gyro is pretty good as is the adana kebab. We order the hunkar begendi and you are much better off making the trek to Zaytinya in the city and getting the HB from there. Might be the best lamb dish you'll ever have. Atilla's hummus is ridiculously good. It's 5 star good, but the weirdness of the price mix up and them forgetting to put my bakhlava in my to go order (didn't forget to charge and didn't realize it wasn't in there until I was home) makes me rate this place a 3 star. Much better off, in my opinion, to stick with the carryout and not the restaurant.
(3)Scott V.
I'm soooo happy there's a good Turkish restaurant in NOVA! My wife and I have been to Turkey many times, and we often cook Turkish food at home. We were very excited to try this place last night for the first time, and we wanted something a bit more down to Earth than the shishi place in Georgetown. We were not disappointed. First, the wall murals are classic - Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge and dancing village Turks. Awesome! Also, the service was excellent. Our young waitress was quick to take our orders and bring our food. We ordered the babaganush for an appetizer, I had the yogurtlu kofte kabab (spicy lamb with yogurt on cut up pita bread), and my wife had the tavuklu ali nazik (sauteed chicken.) All were absolutely excellent, and didn't break the bank, and we'll definitely be coming back!
(4)Anthony M.
There is something terribly intimidating about going into a restaurant and no one else being there. There is an added level of intimidation when one goes in the middle of what should be a lunch rush and there is not a soul in sight. That is what my wife and I found when we went to Attila's. We went in and no one was around, not even a server at first. We stood for a few minutes until a sweet lady appeared and guided us to an open table. We stayed there without a single person coming into the restaurant the entire time we were there. The food was solidly good, and getting free refills were an extra bonus. I had a chicken kabob gyro. The sandwich was filling and tasted good. I would not go out of my way (again) for this restaurant, but if I was in the area or lived there, I would definitely try it again.
(3)Justin S.
Finally tried this neighborhood haunt for the first time... had the mussaka from the carryout (but enjoyed it in) and it was absolutely perfect. Also: the pide (Turkish ridged flat bread) was BRILLIANT and tasted like it was delivered from the oven and directly to my plate. The pleasant woman staffing the register brought the whole experience full-circle. I'll be sure to visit this joint VERY often for my frequent late-night take-outs, and I'll update later when I try the linen-tabled restaurant.
(4)Denise H.
everything is fantastic but I absolutely adore the tilapia sandwich. Perfectly cooked/baked and is a melt in your mouth decadent fish. Skip the fried and you will never miss it
(5)Aroosa A.
I've been coming here since I was a kid...as in no teeth only able to eat the tzatziki sauce kid. This place is incredible, and I'm very picky with my food. I've tried nothing but the beef/lamb gyro for my entree. It has never disappointed me so I saw no point in trying anything else. I have also always gone to the takeout side which is right next to the restaurant. The people are so friendly and food has reasonable prices and wonderful portion sizes. It's a whole in the wall place you'd love to stop by every week if not everyday. They also have a little shop filled with cute little turkish food in the back. The sausages never fail to amaze me. EAT HERE!
(5)Chunnu B.
Never having experienced Turkish food before I found this place on YELP and gave it a try for dinner one evening. Not impressed at all. Other than my dad and I, there was one large party. Service was alright, the waitresses were friendly, but very slow. We ordered the "Kasar Saganda with Sucuk" (melted cheese and spicy sausage) which smelled and tasted like nothing more special than a pepperoni pizza minus the bread. We had the grilled swordfish and kofte kebob for our entrees. Again, not impressed. The swordfish lacked flavor, the kebob was asked to be made extra spicy but it wasn't, and the rice which accompanied both dishes was too salty. For dessert we had a Turkish version of creme brulee. Was more like flan to me, it was good, but nothing exceptional. Overall I wish their food had more flavor and the restaurant have more character.
(1)Rachel B.
A great hole-in-the-wall kind of place!
(3)Ali P.
Koy tavuk is all I have to say. Try it and you won't be dissapointed. We tried this place on a Friday night for take out and I think we will make it a habit. The portion sizes are decent and match up nicely with the price. We had dolma to start, chicken shish, koy tavuk and baklava for under about $30. Except for the large amount of rice they give you, everything got eaten. Two thumbs way up. If you are calling to do take out though, make sure you call the take out line. the restaurant and the deli where next door where you pick up take out are separate. Happy eating!
(4)Angie R.
Let's clarify a bit. Atillas has TWO sections. One is a nice looking sit-down restaurant with a waiter, etc. The other is a small carryout that has seating for just a few (both inside and outside). They are right next door to each other. I've been to both and they are both great. I'm a big fan of bachlava and try it everywhere I go, Atillas definitely has the BEST in VA, hands down. Also, their taziki sauce is damn good. Give the carryout a shot, it's cheap...if you like it then you can try the more expensive spot next door. FYI: The carryout isn't baby-friendly. There were no baby chairs, but the waiter from fancy Atillas was kind enough to bring me one.
(3)Mendy C.
My husband is Turkish, so it's nice to find this place. Not only is there the sit down restaurant, but there's a carry out place right next door, AND a little Turkish market around the corner. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so we were the only table, besides a couple men at the full service bar. The waitress was great. We had an eggplant appetizer, a lamb kebab sandwich, and a kofta patty sandwich, and it was all delicious. The bread/veggies/meat were all fresh and flavorful. The prices were average, $7-10 for each sandwich. They have a great variety of foods, I look forward to going back.
(4)Jeff D.
Best hummus in the area
(4)Paul S.
called to order a take out at 9:47pm, and they close at 10pm. They told me they just closed. Bull Sh*T THE MIX APPETIZER (for one) $7.59 is a dream to eat. No meat, just heaven.
(4)Angel V.
Chicken kebab wrap was very delicious. Very good food reminds me of my trip to turkey. Definetly recommended.
(5)Vannesa C.
Atilla's was definitely a great find for my boyfriend and I on a rainy day that we were craving a good gyro. The place itself didn't look like a place we would normally go to but the food was remarkably fresh and a good portion for its price. They're hummus was amazingly good (and I am not even a fan of it). The gyro was completely stuffed and they didn't skimp on anything. If you think that you've had a good gyro...think again. The cashier was also very pleasant over the phone while taking our order and in person when we got there. She even gave us a complimentary baklava which took good care of my sweet tooth! They will definitely be getting a lot more business from us and we look forward to trying many more of their dishes.
(5)Jenna P.
I haven't ever eaten in the restaurant, but I'm a regular at their take-out shop next door. Atilla's hummus is fantastic. The flat bread is hot and delicious as well. I tend to order a falafel and hummus pita (with an additional side of hummus too since its so good) - the falafel is great. I also like the chicken kabob wrap. The moussaka was pretty good, though I've had better. I can't recommend the baklava, I didn't care for the style that they make. But you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches/wraps. Fantastic carry out spot on Columbia Pike.
(4)Christine R.
We do this all the time. We're notorious for scooter pootin' around town with no real destination, no real need to be anywhere and always hungry. So this is what happened on our adventurous (not to mention) lazy Saturday afternoon. Starving. Where to go. We end up driving around aimlessly and from the street see "GYROS, SUBS, KABOBS..." Sold. Busted a u-turn and noticed it was Turkish, even better we both have never had Turkish style... well anything. We accidentally walked into the carry out section and quickly correctly ourselves into the "restaurant" section of the building. We stood at the entrance waiting for about 15 seconds with no server or hostess in sight. Only two tables of people and awkwardly grab menus to look over what they had. I'm already salivating. The waitress comes back into the restaurant, greets us and motions us to take any table we'd like as she delivered plates to a table. We order the cigar filled cheese sticks, as one reviewer called them - yum! lightly fried and filled with feta. But then again it's hard to mess up or make anything fried or cheese associated taste bad, right? And an order of the grape leaves. They were good but I've had better. Much better. That doesn't mean I didn't finish them though. After reading the reviews about the hummus I know now I need to return and try it out myself. So I opted for a simple gyro sandwich because I didn't want "a lot" of food and it was massive. Well to me it was. And delicious! The lettuce and tomatoes were super fresh and make me enjoy my meal even more. I would likely return here on another scooter pootin (aka driving around aimlessly) session to try out their other dishes, including this talked about hummus. When we were finished with our meal our server asked us how we found them and how we liked our meals, which was nice. Then I told her we just saw them from the street and popped in. She quickly returned back with our check and baklava for each of us on the house. Super nice and a great way for me to remember the service and interest in our experience there.

Mmm...spinach pie. Crispity, crunchity, flakety spinach pie. I like it with the tsaziki sauce AND tomato salsa. Usually, they serve it on phyllo, though one time they ran out and made it on pita bread. Which was surprisingly tasty, too. Maybe even better than the original way. I also like their hummus, but when it comes to grape leaves, Moby Dick's are sweeter and yummier. The staff is always friendly and warm. But I don't like when they blast DC 101 from a greasy radio over the refrigerator. I can't hear myself eat.
(4)Cathy H.
The boyfriend ordered food-to-go for me while I was at work. He got a gyro, a falafel, fries, and a plate of lamb shish kebab! Sooo yummy! The fries are super crispy and the meat is not dry at all. We will get food from there again! He told me the place literally has 3 tables, so it's best to get carry-out food.
(4)Taylor G.
I have only had carry-out, but it's quick and great quality. The falafel is good. I really wish it was closer to my apartment then I would go more often!
(4)marc a.
I can't add much more to the other reviews. Excellent Doner Kabob, fantastic babaganouj and hummus as well. Not a huge amount of atmosphere and the price is slightly higher than other places (like the nearby Kabob Inn), but fantastic and with more of a Mediterranean feel to it. We really enjoyed this and will definitely be back.
(4)Meek Y.
Are you kidding me here? You call this Turkish food? This wouldn't even pass for food truck quality. Save your money and your time. Better food can be had at McDonald's. Take it from someone that has lived in Turkey. Gross. The meat was packaged garbage, the bread wasnt fresh, the white bean salad was old, the doner kabob made my friend sick.

This is one of my favorite restaurants and it's very reasonably priced. Yes, it's always empty but don't hold it against them. I think they make a lot of business with the take out next door. I like to order the donor platter or Iskendar platter from the take out, which is the same entree as if you ate at the restaurant. All of their appetizers are very good including the sigara börei which is like a little cigar with cheese in it. ---- Iskendar is ground up lamb and beef cooked on a spit. Then shaved off in slices with bread and yogurt...something like that. It's very similar and I think the same meat as the donor, but the donor is on rice.

I have been wanting Turkish coffee for months now. I finally got my fix at atillas. The tradition with Turkish coffee is that when you are finished with your beverage, you turn your cup upside down on your saucer and let the grounds roll down the side. Then someone comes along and reads the lines that form from the coffee grounds dribbling down the walls of the saucer and determines your fortune. The best fortune tellers come up with the most ridiculous stories and everyone always seems to have a pretty good time. The food wasn't bad. They have several traditional lamb, beef and chicken dishes mostly priced between $12 and $20 for the dinner menu. Sandwiches were mostly under $10. The facility is very open with a dance floor in the middle. The tables were largely pushed to the walls almost giving an empty feeling. They had what looked to be a full service bar in the back. On the whole, it's not a bad place for Turkish cuisine.

I've passed by Atilla's hundreds of times, but never felt the urge to try it. Why? The menu looked a bit pricey and it was never very busy. HOWEVER, I cannot endorse this abandonment any longer. A recent Tuesday, I finally tried Atilla's and was more than impressed by the Islim Kabob, with slow-cooked tender pieces of lamb in a seriously delicious tomato-based sauce. And the yogurt? Unbelievable. The meal came with a small salad and pita-like bread. Entrees were slightly on the more expensive side for the Pike, but with the great food and fun background music (between songs there was a jingle with the word "Sultan" repeated that I can't seem to get out of my head), it was a pretty great time, even if we were one of only two tables there.

So the hubs and I went to Atilla's for dinner before we caught a movie at the Arlington Drafthouse. First, it does look like a hole in the wall restaurant, BUT the food was very, very good. We got the taboulleh and hummus as appetizers - both were delicious. For entrees, I got the chicken shish-kebab - it was good but not very adventurous since I wanted something on the lighter side. However, my husband got the Tavuklu Ali Nazik , which was a chicken dish with tomatoes, eggplant, a big blob of yogurt sauce and what appeared to be some sort of cheese underneath. And oh, my, goodness - it was probably the most amazing thing I've ever eaten. Seriously yummy stuff. We'll definitely be back to Attila's.

Hidden gem. It doesn't have much in terms of decor but the food is delicious, inexpensive, and plenty. We have always had great service and never had a meal that I didn't like. The appetizer plate is my favorite to split with 1-2 others for the small one. Plenty for all.

Best Turkish food in DC area. The staff is very friendly and kind. Food tastes great. Also, the grocery store next to Atilla's is very convenient. Been there many times and will definitely go in the future.

Since April 2010, I have bought lunch at the Carry Out at least once a month. Of late, a colleague from work and I buy and eat lunch at one of the four tables in the Carry Out (or at one of the tables outside). The food has always been high quality.

Atilla's is actually 3 places in one. There's a sit down restaurant, a carryout restaurant, and a grocery store. I've been going to Atilla's carryout for the past 5 years just to get hummus. It is ridiculously good. I was not a big hummus fan before Atilla's myself...and I have many friends who are not hummus fans but always ask for it when they come over to our place (we get a large container every time). Even now that I've moved to Reston, whenever I need hummus, I'll still go back to Arlington to get it...there's no equal. Interestingly enough, there is another Atilla's location in the Courthouse area (I think), but the one time I had the hummus there, it wasn't as good as the one from this location. So I never went back to that one. The hummus at this location has never failed!

I've been lucky enough to try this place two times in the past month and I love it! So far I've only tried the hummus, ham/cheese personal pizza, and some kabobs. The hummus is the best I've ever had and the pizza was pretty delicious also. The kabobs were also very good. I've eaten in the restaurant, and also the carry-out next door. I enjoy eating in the restaurant, but you can save a few bucks by eating next store because the prices are a little lower (but the same place). Good service, clean, good food, decent prices. All in all, a solid four stars.

4 stars for food, 2 stars for everything else. Food is good when you finally get to order and it comes out. Decor is odd but clean. Service was pretty poor. The waitresses were friendly and helpful, there just weren't enough of them.

Nice..a great call. Just before sitting down to a few hours of cards, someone suggested we get some food to go from this place. I was passed a menu, saw that the prices were very reasonable, and ordered a lamb gyro and fries....It was the best Gyro I had ever eaten. I loved it. The cucumber sauce they provide is excellent. I'm not sure what my one friend had, but it is considered their signature dish and it looked very good. It was something with lamb, rice, a tomato sauce, and long, thin green peppers. Imian kabob, or something like that. I am most defiantly going to hit this place again next time I'm here visiting my friends in Arlington, and if you ever are in this area....try it. You should like it.

I got some food (minced lamb wrap for me and a gyro for my friend) in the carry-out section of Atilla. Both were very good! I also ordered the grape leaves....which came with a slice of lemon....nice touch! Atilla is a nice and clean establishment. The food is really good, and the prices are average for take-out/eat-in. Overall, a good choice for Turkish food and I am happy to have found it through Yelp!

Located next to Atilla's Restaurant, this little lunch/take-out place makes an almost perfect Gyro sandwich. The baklava is always super fresh and the service is polite but prompt. I end up eating lunch here at least once a week and would highly recommend it.

Lots of folks know about the gyros here, but their dolmas, falafel, hummus and lentil soups are top notch.

One of the better middle eastern style restaurants in the NoVa area. The chicken gyros and falafel sandwiches can't be beat. The cucumber yogurt sauce is as good as it gets. Lunch prices and portions are reasonable at the carryout location. The bread tastes like it's fresh and home made. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Best gyro in the D.C. area hands down - if only I lived closer, I'd go every day. Definitely the closest to the Turkish food I ate in Istanbul and Europe.

Awesome variety. Awesome preparation. Best for carry out. The meat is pretty tender and flavorful. Overall a good eat.

Just had a great dinner at Atilla's. The sampler appetizer is da' bomb! We also tried the mussaka and doner kabob, but did I mention the sampler appetizer is da' bomb yet? We even picked up some bab ganoush and bean salad from their carryout next door to keep the great times going. There should have been a lot more people there for the quality of the food. It seems Sunday nights aren't hopping in Arlington.

I can only comment on the take out part of the restaurant. And its good! Its not super fast or super cheap, but its good food, great size portions, nice people, and quality take out. I am a big fan and have already returned twice.
