Thank god for this cute coffee shop in otherwise boring and chain/franchise populated suburban Alexandria. Fast wi-fi, good sweets and coffee (pretty good sandwiches too), great staff, free parking and nice atmosphere. PS I hope more places like this open--they would have ample customers.

I ordered an Almond Milk Latte. The coffee was Ok. Though the service was very slow. The lady on the counter had to confirm 3 times for my order. She kept getting it wrong. Then the service was slow. The sitting area is also limited and they have wooden chairs and benches (not too comfortable). The interior was good though! But then I came here only once. May be next time the service would be better!

3.5 Stars, but rounded up due to the consistently friendly service. This cute little coffee shop is tucked away in a shopping plaza off of Van Dorn St. I stumbled upon this place via Yelp while looking for a place to kill time before my Sensazao class down the street. Well, I'm glad Yelp lead me here because it's now my go-to spot whenever I have extra time before Sensazao! The place itself is pretty cute. Wood panels and benches along the right side of the store. Stools and countertops towards the front. I'd lovee the front seating if there was actually a view to look at and not an old/run down shopping plaza. The place seems a tad bit crammed just because there's so much going on with offerings. The register area has a bunch of goodies just laid out and then there's racks around with additional goodies. The drinks: What I love is the variety of lattes that they offer! They seriously think of so many different creations and so far everything I've had has been well executed. They are a TAD bit on the sweet side, but kind of expected depending on what you order. I've had the horchata latte and taro latte, which were both delicious. My usual drink is an Americano and I haven't been disappointed with the quality. I've only been here in the evening, so I can't comment on the "busy" service and how they handle a line because I've never encountered one. I'm usually the only customer there or one of three. So, the service has always been quick and attentive.

I was looking for a coffee shop to study while I was staying in the Alexandria area. This place wasn't far and had good ratings, so I gave it a try. The employees are notably polite and welcoming. I ordered a gouda turkey sandwich with a black iced tea, very simple but hit the spot. They have wireless, plenty of seating, and is part of a strip mall with ample parking. I ordered an additional sandwich to bring home, and they were great, saying to let them know 10 min before I was leaving so that they could give me the sandwich as fresh as possible. I wish hours were longer, but otherwise, a really nice place to study.

A comfortable neighborhood coffee stop. Something of a gem - in fact - for this Landmark Mall area. Friendly atmosphere. Family-operated. A wide selection of snacks, sandwiches, and pastries. The coffee is adequate but far from being sophisticated brews found at Cervantes (Springfield) or Ceremony (Annapolis). 3 Stars - A solid option for your afternoon coffee break or study spot.

Great place! Cozy, awesome service, TONS of great coffee options, pastries and sandwiches. I go about 2-3 times a month and I'm always very happy with whatever I get! I prefer places like this over Starbucks or Dunkin any day!

Recently moved to the DC area and found this hip little coffee shop via Yelp. Tried the green tea latte. It was great! And I like the cozy vibe of the place. Wifi is free and super fast. Will definitely return.

Excellent coffee drink (I'm picky)! Slow service. Bad breakfast sandwich. I came in at 9:09am on a Thursday and took about 3 minutes to decide what to order. One guy was in front of me and ordered 1 drink and 1 sandwich. I also ordered 1 drink and 1 sandwich. There was one man working both the register and espresso machine, and I was really hoping there was a second person in the back to make the sandwiches...no luck. He was the only one in there. After ordering, I left with drink and sandwich in-hand around 9:25am - 13 minutes is much too long of a wait for this type of food. I would hate to see the line when there are multiple customers trying to get their caffeine fix first thing in the morning. However, I ordered a medium iced decaf soy mocha lightly sweetened, and it was the best iced mocha drink I have ever tasted. He made it perfectly. I was worried the drink would be wrong because he didn't write it down anywhere, but he really surprised me on that one. *Edited update: I'm really bummed because a few hours after finishing the drink, my heart is still racing, and I can tell the beverage was caffeinated. This is after I took a sip in shop, thought it tasted pretty strong, and then went over to confirm that he made it decaf. He looked me in the eye and said "yes" but definitely was not confident in his reply. This is not acceptable, since I'm pregnant and tried to make certain it was decaf.* The egg and ham breakfast sandwich was not good. I hate to say it, but I would've been better off getting a McMuffin. The sandwich ingredients used at Java Loco appear to be the cheapest of the cheap. The ratio of egg to meat is not balanced (see pic). All I tasted were egg and dry English muffin. I'll be back again for another drink (no more sandwiches here for me) to give them a second chance and hope the service will be accurate/faster next time.

I spend a lot of hours doing work here. My drink of choice is the JAVA soy latte which is mocha and white chocolate. The menu is quite expansive although I haven't had the best of luck with their food. The black bean sandwich wasn't good, and the breakfast sandwich was simply ok. After striking out twice, I'm in no rush to try any more menu items. I'll just continue to enjoy my soy lattes which are AMAZING!

  • Cathy B.

I was there for a quick pick me up. I got a white chocolate mocha with skim milk. There were 3 guys behind the coffee bar and each guy was really attentive and offered great customer service. 1 guy for the register, 1 educating me about the sweetness level of their WCM syrup, 1 guy making the drink. Each person was very nice. The shop itself was clean and I liked the decor. I was only able to stay for a quick minute but it seems like a really nice coffee shop to meet up with a friend or to study.

I stopped in for some coffee and a snack before my work shift and was pleasantly surprised at how awesome this place is. I told the guy behind the counter that I needed something to wake me up but not give me jitters. He suggested a white chocolate mocha iced drink with 2 shots instead of 3. It worked fantastic- I was wide awake until the end of my shift. The cupcakes are HEAVENLY. I definitely found my new coffee spot when I'm in the neighborhood.

A nice cozy local coffee shop. Drinks: The coffee is great. If you don't like the stomach acid that Starbucks seems to think is coffee then this is a great alternative. The other drink types are good as well and their mocha drinks are fantastic. Food: Their Cuban sandwich isn't really a true Cuban sandwich, but it's quite good nonetheless. The breakfast sandwiches are spot on and very good. I saw someone complain that there was too high an egg to meat ratio, I'd disagree; when I get a BREAKFAST sandwich I want mounds of eggs. Service: It can be a little slow, but overall the is decent. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere: Very cozy store with a good vibe. It can be a little crowded though especially when you get those people who order one $2 coffee and say on their laptops for 7 straight hours. Also there's a daycare place next door so there's occasional roving gangs of minivans and children. Also protip to you readers out there: decaf is not caffeine free, there is a little caffeine in it. It's just a lot less than normal coffee.

I had the iced soy mocha and it was delicious! I also had their cheese bread. I actually believe it's called pandebono, which is Columbian cheese bread folded into the flour. I like how they have such a unique drink menu. I am a new fan:)!

Nice local coffee place. Good wifi, nice selection of coffees. Dark roast coffee was good, not bitter like starbucks. Seating is decent but can be limited when busy. Will definitely come again to sample their espresso beverages.

Really great coffee shop, very good coffee, free speedy wifi. I come here 2-3 times a week to study for my IT certs. Great atmosphere for relaxing and for getting some work done. Feel blessed to have a place of this quality in my area. Service here is always great, they always hand deliver my coffee when I'm sitting down studying so I don't have to stop what I'm doing, little things like that go a long way and they do a lot of little things right. Just an all around great coffee shop!

Tried the tiramisu latte and Canadian bacon breakfast sandwich. I asked for extra shots of espresso in my latte and it was amazing. They give a lot of options for the sandwich so it was perfect for me. Customer service is stellar. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back.

The service has always been quick for me, the employers are always pleasant, they have a large variety of coffee drinks/flavors (that are delicious), and the breakfast sandwiches are very good. I am going to miss this place when I move.

Cute little spot! Turns out I had this on my bookmark list and never had the chance to sit down/in. I think I even came by before with a friend but we didn't stay for some reason :(. Seems like they did a revamp from what I remembered. Location is a bit obscure, but once you find it, it's really a little hidden gem. Parking isn't an issue since it's located inside a strip mall. The ambiance is really cute/cozy with lots of seating and free WiFi. The owner/worker I saw today is this pleasant Asian man. He's super friendly and nice, great service. They play Christian piano music in the background, so it's really relaxing and enjoyable, in a non-intrusive way. The menu is solid; many coffee and tea options, both hot and cold along with fruit smoothies. Good sandwich selection, breakfast sandwiches served all day. Seemed like there was a small selection of pastries available too. Of course, you can't forget the Gelato options, which I'll have to dip into next time. Prices seem average, not cheap but reasonable. The hours are also pretty good; open real early and stay open til 9p on everyday except Sunday, which closes at 7:30p. I'm so glad I stopped in today on a whim to do some reading... I'll definitely be coming back!

Just stopped in for the first time and had a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival a gentleman appeared from the back and greeted us warmly. How nice! We ordered two Gouda Gobbler sandwiches which includes a bag of chips for $7.99 along with a small black coffee for $1.95 and a small vanilla latte for $3.60. They have several bread options for sandwiches. When I asked what they recommend for bread he said the ciabatta. Great idea! It was soft and thinner than I thought, which was perfect! The bread was also slightly crispy on the edges and complimented the sandwich which comes with mayo and Dijon mustard. Yummy combo actually. When we went to pick out our chips, the lady in the kitchen area chatted with us and we updated and confirmed our sandwiches. She was quite warm and friendly. The coffee and latte were delicious too and while the place is cozy, the atmosphere is nice. Upon leaving the two staff were seated at a table and greeted us goodbye and asked how we liked it. We appreciated the attention and said we enjoyed it very much and will be back. My only negative thoughts were: the music was a bit odd and there are way too many signs everywhere, especially on the windows which blocks the sunlight coming in, and a lot are repetitive and between the signs and menu there are a lot of misspellings. They do offer a crap ton of flavor options for every drink imaginable as they are just trying to make you aware of them. Other than that, which is no biggie, we will surely return often. Can't wait to try the gelato. I've got my eye on pistachio and tiramisu.

I quite enjoy the drinks and gelato from this coffee and gelato shop. And no, I have not tried the other food items, so my review will not be wrongfully skewed. I've had a few lattes and specialty drinks here. They were made well, in my opinion, because they tasted good and were hot. The flavorings weren't too strong or overly sweet. The gelato was alright and a good cure for a warm day. The people working here are nice and timid. The place itself is clean. There are a few tables and a counter with stools against the window. I wish the stools weren't nailed to the ground and that they had a place for my feet to rest. The tables are always taken when I stop by here, so typically, I am forced to sit at this counter, slightly uncomfortably. Prices are okay for a local coffee place. Outside, you will find a board with featured flavors/options. In the past, I've seen lavender and taro. I wish they were posted inside too! By the time I had read through the inside menu, I had forgotten the specials! When I left, I realized I had wanted something on that board instead of the standard menu. Bottom line: While there are minor details I would like to be improved, the point here is that this place makes good drinks. That's all you really need to know.

The owner designed the whole place himself! Ask him about the furniture and he has stories behind each piece (got the bench from a church). Super sweet guy. Great customer service, all of then bring a smile to my face.

  • Sishu G.

Loved how cozy this little place is. It looked very clean organized. They could've done better with the design and I didn't like how they decided to hang some of their specialty drinks or subs that they wrote on a piece of paper all over the walls. It kinda ruins the whole idea. I tried their gelato, blueberry, vanilla bean, and peach. The vanilla bean was yummy. The peach, eh not so great. My boyfriend got some ice coffee and he said it was watery (maybe because they were about to close), still not an excuse but oh well. The server was very nice. Since its walking distance from our apartment we shall go back sometime. But if there was a Starbucks to be open around here, probably not.

Whenever I feel like going out and getting a cup of coffee, this is where I go. The atmosphere is great, and the coffee is delicious--much more so than any of the big coffee places out there (Starbucks, etc. ). I've never had a problem with slow service, and I've always found the staff to be very pleasant and courteous. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of their food, so I can't give any opinions about their food menu, but from my experience, Java Loco is an excellent place to get a delicious cup of coffee and sit in a quiet and quaint atmosphere.

  • Lucas T.

I'm a big fan! Friendly staff. Not yo crowded. Lots of parking. I'm not coffee expert, but they offer tons of different drinks. Could be cozier and have more comfortable seating.

  • Mikhail K.

It really pains me to do this. Really does...but service is just unacceptably slow, to the point that it's ridiculous. I have experienced it myself on at least five occasions and watched others experience it. Just about everytime I went there, there is only one person manning the whole place. It took me 7 minutes to get my green tea and 18 minutes to get a sandwich. I recommend not to even order food, because the guy who usually does everything is put in an uncomfortable situation where he can't leave the floor to make a sandwich, since it's much simpler to make a coffee drink, but then customers who ordered the food first feel left out. Regardless of how cute and cozy this place is, there are obvious staffing issues. So I'm gonna go back to Starbucks until they sort it out...

I stopped here for breakfast before going to the Safeway nearby for grocery shopping. This place is owned by Korean. The sandwich is ok, nothing special, but their coffee is very good. The tables and chairs are not comfortable. They also sell gelato but I did not try.

About a 2.5: I was in the area, and I saw Java Loco from the corner of my eye. I did not realize that there was a coffee place in the Van Dorn Plaza! I saw that they had a little easel in the front, stating some of their special lattes and drinks of the day. The cafe itself is very cute, and there were plenty of tables to sit down, enjoy your cup of brew, and to do some work/chit-chat with friends. The place is Korean-owned, and they offer pastries, cookies, coffee, smoothies, as well as sandwiches, wraps, and paninis. I wanted to try their special, the Breve Latte, made with heavy cream - the female cashier/employee had no idea what I was talking about - I stated that it was on the sign out at the front as one of their specials; she actually walked with me outside to the sign, and she still had no idea what that was, as it was written by her boss... she then asked her male counterpart, and he also had no clue what that drink was. So, I decided to try their other drink, the 'Banana Nut Bread Latte' - I've never heard of that, so I was pretty excited for that as well! When I received it, there was no banana or any nut flavor, and it just tasted like a mocha... I was kind of really disappointed :( My husband, on the other hand, had the iced Passion Fruit tea. This actually was quite tasty, but it does come as a straight tea, so you can add sugar/milk/cream to your heart's desire. The brown sugar at the little station, however, was all clumpy and dried out. I am not sure if there is some type of a communication issue or what not, but the staff is unaware of their drink specials, and also are not well-versed in creating the drinks as well. They also seemed to be running around, being confused, and looked as if they were overwhelmed in working the register and in making the drinks. +baristas not familiar with specialty drinks +weak beverages T___T

Cute place - and shocking for a strip mall! Went in for a latte, and to get some work done. Free wifi! Didn't try the food; though it looked great. Very authentic coffeehouse feel.

  • Beth S.

Awesome espresso macchiato. Great little coffee spot - but wait - they have gelato and a they serve bagels and sandwiches etc. Great find!! Free wifi, but limited seating. More of a cafe setting with tables and chairs instead of what I'd envision for a coffeeshop (couches or comfy chairs/lounge setting). I'll be back!

Nice cozy spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is always pleasant. I usually grab a coffee from here before work or in the afternoon while I'm studying. Prices are decent for a local coffee shop and the breakfast food is pretty good.

Amazing, strong coffee. They have a litany of delicious flavors from tiramisu to Banana nut bread. They also have really good tea. They serve good breakfast and lunch. Amazing Gelato flavors

Loved this place. They have an amazing assortment of hot and cold espresso drinks and will make them with soy or almond milk too which Is essential for me. They have pastries, gelato, sandwiches, free wifi, and nice seating. They also serve breakfast sandwiches. Had a JAVA Chiller made with soy and it was fantastic. Think I've found my new favorite coffee hangout.

Nice little place. Great customer service. Tasty hot Cuban sandwich for an ice cold day. Red Eye espresso coffee that wakes you up quickly. Seating is not luxurious but not a showstopper. I'll be back. Check it out.

I occasionally stop by on the weekends to get coffee. Unfortunately they open too late during the week for me to grab coffee before work. I thought the coffee was pretty good. I am very big on customer service and today they failed miserably! A couple in line before me decided to make out and not place an order. The cashier actually told me to wait because he was helping them. He was unable to get their attention and actually thought that it was appropriate to have me and others wait in line. I am pretty sure that the couple would've come up for air and placed an order when they were ready. I immediately exited and will not likely return. Clearly this isn't the only neighborhood coffee place in Alexandria. NEXT!

I love it because it's so peaceful. The baristas are always polite and the espresso is delish! It's my go to study place. No super loud music or hustle and bustle. Exactly my kind of place...

  • Jamie G.

Sorry, but no. Tried this place today on the strength of the reviews and sad to say it didn't live up to the billing. The staff is friendly and kind, but their knowledge of coffee service is painfully obvious. I ordered a triple espresso and while the volume was right the spro itself was a befuddled mess: over extracted and clearly made with beans well past their prime. I also had a croissant, which was dry and chewy. Clearly several days old. I did not finish either. My wife had a drip brew, which was very weak. She also ordered a biscotti. They served it on a dinner plate, so much for presentation. The ambiance isn't half bad though, and like I said the the staff is friendly. So, if they can figure out how to make coffee it might just turn into a decent place. --- P.S. One weird thing I can't get over are the number of yelpers talking about Boar's Head meats. Really? This is a big deal? It almost feels like someone is buying reviews.

I want to give this place a 3.5 but I'll be nice and give this place a 4 because I want to help out this business. I feel like this cafe shop has a lot of potential. This cafe shop is located in a plaza right across from BJs. I thought it was an awkward spot for the business because not a lot of people would notice that there's a coffee/cafe shop there. I've only had iced black coffee at this place, and the coffee itself was pretty good (and average pricing as well). I ordered one of their turkey sandwich, and boy did they put a lot of turkey on that sandwich! I thought it was a decent typical American sandwich, but the pricing of the sandwich was a tad too expensive. I would still recommend this place if you're looking for a study spot with free parking.

  • Meredith S.

I wanted to love you. I wanted you to not charge me 2 bucks for a muffin you wrapped up from BJ's or Costco. Somebody that owns this shop is making a killing. Guatemalan Antigua coffee was good and the atmosphere is cute. You lose points on your baked goods. I will go somewhere else next time.

So glad to have FINALLY had an opportunity to stop into my local coffee shop, because this place is awesome! I agree with a lot of my fellow Yelpers, this is a hidden gem in an area of Alexandria that really could use some great coffee shops. And here you have it - great coffee and sandwiches with great ambiance. It really is the cutest decor and it really does feel like you're in Old Town or Clarendon (for a moment, I thought I was back in the SF Bay area) - thanks for making my neighborhood feel a lot more quaint! The coffee was amazing - hands down, the best caramel macchiato in town. No bitter aftertaste, just smooth coffee. As for lunch, I had the Gouda Gobbler - a very yummy sandwich, and a healthy sized portion. I look forward to coming back for gelato and to try out the other sandwich and coffee options - I noticed after I placed my order that they have at least 10 varieties of caramel machiatto - crazy! Once again, thanks for making Landmark your home, Java Loco. The hipsters/yuppies/coffee lovers here are glad you did. I'm very excited to support this local gem.

I'll take Java Loco over Starbucks ANY day. They made my coffee from whole, fresh beans, and since they have alllll the flavorings you can imagine, I got my dream cup of coffee made to perfection. (A chocolate orange latte/macchiato). I can't wait to go back!

Freshly brewed coffee, made to order bagels and sandwiches, yummy gelato, and many other pastries and packaged snacks. Very nice staff. Free wi-fi. Indoor and outdoor seating for a quick or long meet up with neighbors and friends. Even keep a high chair for the little ones. My neighborhood go-to!

  • Joseph P.

My one suggestion to this amazing little gelato and sandwich coffee shop (and I'll put it in the first line so it gets seen) is to amp up the tea selection with more than just Tazo/Starbucks teas and generic grocery teas. More herbal options would be nice, and high-quality brands like two leaves and a bud, or Queens' Tea or others would be fantastic as they are lesser known, but great for indy cafes. Otherwise, the decor is fantastic, the owner, his wife, and their staff are truly enjoyable to mingle with, and there is free Wifi so what's not to love?! With Boar's Head meats for their hand-made, made-to-order deli sandwiches, and wide selection of snack foods, it's a great lunch spot as well. Really, it's a much needed cafe in an otherwise dull part of town, and you can get a Coke should you fancy as well, something you can't do at any old Starbucks.

  • Jennifer P.

One thing we seriously lack in this neighborhood is a coffee shop. I mean, it's not yuppie central over here in Landmark, but there are a couple of us! The nearest Starbucks is, well, a special trip, and Dunkin Donuts doesn't count, so I was very excited when I saw the notices that we were getting a coffee shop! My fiance and I stopped in today and got what was more or less a frappaccino, but way better. They have sandwiches with Boar's Head meats, and this could be a little better (toast the bread, maybe have some more options for the sandwiches), but it was fresh and very nicely put together. The sandwiches are about $6 and they come with chips and a pickle. There are some service things-where are the napkins?-that I'm sure will be worked out when they get into full swing. The space is very cute and very clean. I will definitely be back!

  • Tracie M.

The sandwiches are tasty. They use high-quality Boar's Head meats but there isn't much selection. They also have gelato and some treats -- but they come out of bags and boxes you buy at Costco or the supermarket, not from a bakery. Service is good, the decor is pretty nice, there is free wi-fi and it's a nice and fairly quiet place to camp out with a laptop. The prices are pretty outrageous, I think, but it's probably what they have to do to stay open. There isn't a lot of customer traffic here. I don't know how they stay open, really. But $12 for a BLT and coffee is pretty steep to me. I'm here right now so let me give you some of their other prices right off the menu. 20 ounce smoothie is $5.99. 20 ounce cappuccino is $5.05. A 20 ounce mocha is $5.25. Cheapest items are 12 ounce coffee for $1.75, 12 ounce hot tea for $1.95, 16 ounce iced tea for $2.10. A small gelato is $3.75 but it's REALLY small. So, I do like this place but it is pricey. I guess it's worth it to me, though, because I keep coming back.

I had the Nutella latte and was not disappointed. An excellent place to hang out, drink coffee, and chat with friends!

We come here almost daily for coffee. They have every syrup flavor imaginable, including all kinds of fruit flavors - sounds weird, but try one in a mocha or white mocha. You'll be surprised! The staff is super friendly and recognizes us whenever we come in, which is really nice. The lunch sandwiches are good. I really liked the chicken salad on a croissant. The breakfast sandwiches are good but not great - they microwave everything and don't toast their English muffins. If they can improve how they make their breakfast sandwiches, this will be a solid five-star recommendation from me.

  • Liz G.

Perfect little coffee/sandwich/gelato spot. We thought for a moment when we walked in that we were in Old Town Alexandria or Clarendon, as the quaint decor and delicious gelato that this place had is not normally found in this immediate area. We love gelato and are so happy we no longer have to travel to get it. There are 10+ flavors to choose from- we especially loved the strawberry with lavender (could actually taste the lavender!), the hazelnut vanilla (with hazelnut chunks), and the espresso. We will back many times for a quick sandwich, specialty coffee, and, of course, the amazing gelato!

    (5)
  • Randy P.

Keep in mind this is not Starbucks. This is a real coffee shop where it smells like real coffee grinds, where you ingest real strong coffee that contains character that alerts the mind. The moment I first walked in this establishment, I felt incredibly excited to get served from a coffee joint other than Starbucks and Caribou and so should you.

I got the mocha chiller and a chicken salad sandwich on rye and both were yummy. They sell sandwiches, drinks, coffee, pastries, noodles and more.

Glad to have a coffee shop in the area! Love the design of the shop, definitely made me feel like I was "away from home." My latte was excellent and the free wifi and quiet atmosphere with mild relaxing music made it easy to get work done. Looks like the food menu is lacking though. Could use a soup of the day or some original food items and a simple breakfast menu (i.e. sausage egg and cheese croissant, fresh fruit, etc.). I wanted to order more to support the business (and get dinner) but nothing intrigued me. If they partnered with Indaroma for their home-made pastries, that would be a match made in heaven!

I've been to this shop a handful of times now and definitely find it a great alternative to Starbucks. The coffee is great and the service has always been very nice. Price is comparable to Starbucks which is unfortunate but I understand the need to stay in the market. It appears they are no longer open at 6:30AM during the week days though. I've stopped by several times the past few two weeks and they've been closed. Perhaps not enough business that early? Nice place though!

Fresh ground and brewed coffee, for EVERY cup. Fresh hot sandwiches. Very good Gelato brought over from D.C. It's a nice atmosphere where welcoming, neighborly people are working. Also great place to sit with a good friend and chat a while. Bring your kids for a cup of gelato for good behavior, as I've seen many people do :) I love it here. Skip Starbucks and support locals!

I think this place could be really popular if they decorated more. The decor is a mix match and doesn't match the Java loco name. The coffee is really good and the staff are friendly! I haven't tried the food, yet, but they have sandwich options. I would suggest they have someone with artistic talent to update their menu boards. This place has great potential!!! They have the basics down. They just need to put more effort into the decor and I bet they'd get more business. Local favorite, for sure.

Great little cozy coffee shop and more. They have a variety of coffee choices - I tried the Caramel Macchiato and I swore it tasted better than Starbucks. They serve breakfast and sandwiches to order- along with various types of tea. The lighting is good, the customer service is great, and the WiFi is free. You simply can't go wrong with Java Loco.

This is a good alternative for a nearby coffee spot over the paltry, sorry choices of Dunkin Donuts and such. The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good. A couple times the sandwich press wasn't warmed up yet so you had to wait a while to order. It would be really awesome if they maybe added some cold pasta salads or sides to the menu. It is a good place to get some work done while grabbing a bite and hot drink.

JL Rocks! How can you not like this place? Clean, quiet and peaceful with great coffee. I plan to return often, it was an enjoyable and relaxing visit. I cannot remember when, if ever, I found a trip to Starbucks to be a relaxing experience.

Great coffee shop with very nice owners who allow you to try the gelato and coffee before you buy. I was chatting with the owner and he gets his gelato made by a well known Italian chef in the DC area! It was exceptional. I've had gelato overseas and this is very similar !! Try the pistachio! Amazing! Very cozy shop to sit down relax and enjoy a taste of Italy!

After spending one afternoon here, my husband and I now refer to this place as "our coffee shop," something we have been seriously missing since we moved to the area. Everything is tasty, the sandwiches are delicious, coffee is good and there are a lot of options. And the have GELATO!! It pretty much has everything you would want in a coffee shop and they are extremely friendly and go out of their way for you. We are now regulars.

I've stopped at this place twice. The decor is cute and people are nice. I do wish they had homemade baked goods though. And when I went to get coffee Saturday morning at 715 it wasn't brewed yet! Still cute place and great potential. Plus they serve board head!

Love this place. The interior is nice, staff is friendly, and wifi works well. I have tried the blueberry bonanza smoothie, iced dulce de leche macchiato, gelato, and a vegetarian sandwich and all were excellent.

Originally came to the pet store next door, but the sign advertising some coffee flavors caught my eye as well as my husband's. Came in on a Sunday evening and it was empty. The flavors we seen were for hot drinks and I prefer the cold. Got an iced double mocha that wasn't bad. Also had my receipt emailed to me after using my debit card, less waste! Look forward to trying other items in the future. There's also a couple of chairs and a table outside, alongside a doggy bowl for water :)

Went by this evening to check out the place. I wasn't in the mood for coffee (it was almost 8pm!) but I discovered they had gelato - salted caramel gelato - so I had to try it. It was better than Dean and Deluca's in Georgetown! I talked to the owner for a while to see how the first couple of weeks were, so far so good. Four stars because, well, I only had the gelato, and it's a coffee place. So I'll be back there, and maybe for more stars, here, too! Wife had the lemongrass something or other gelato which she also found good. She loved the decorations!

Wonderful intimate coffee shop! We went looking for something other than the normal chain coffee shop. This place is definitely not the run of the mill coffee shop! Coffee was spectacular and the owner was so friendly! Cool atmosphere too!

Support mom and pop shops!! Randomly found this place even though I've driven by this plaza several times. Being NYer I'm always trying to find mom and pop places. They have great coffee and Boars Head meat!!! Only deli I've found besides Giant to carry Boars Head Coldcuts. Highly recommend this place.

I am so glad to have a cute coffee shop in the neighborhood! This place has a really nice decor, and a great seleciton of coffee drinks and teas (I am a tea drinker and really enjoy the Chai spice). I stopped by on the way to work, and my only complaint is that I had to wait way too long for being in a rush. It wasn't terrible, but the one guy working clearly seemed overwhelmed and didn't have the best system for expediting things. They need to be able to get people in and out in the morning. However, I am willing to overlook that because my tea was great and the sandwich and food selection looked quite good. I definitely want to come back soon and sit and do some work.

This is our new go to spot! The espresso drinks are on point and remind me of Europe. The staff is super polite. Love!

Totally agree with other yelpers. This area is in dire need of more coffee spots. I have no idea even where the nearest Starbucks is and while I love Dunkin Donuts I need a good espresso drink. I tried their coffee and it was excellent. Strong but not burned like Starbucks. The second time I tried a vanilla latte. Unfortunately, it was not strong, tasted a bit watered down, and was heavy on the vanilla syrup. Also they charged me for skim milk which I thought was ridiculous. I don't think I should pay $5.50 for a large latte with skim milk. However, I will go back to get more coffee and try their food items. I would not recommend their pastries because they look oddly familiar like they are Costco muffins...Their gelato looks very tasty though. Hopefully they will work out their kinks within the next few weeks.

This place is freakin amazing. If you're an uber espresso snob like me, this is one of the *very few* places I've found in the area that has respectable espresso. And the employees are the nicest people on the planet. They're so nice it was a quite unexpected infusion of awesome in my day... the kind of thing I had to smile at. Great people. Great espresso. And great food (they're got a gluten-free hot dog bun they'll make a sandwich out of too! :)

Horrible service. 7-11 coffee at Starbucks prices, if they sell to you that time of day. Usually one person working and can't handle the traffic. They advertise sandwiches but if it's after 5pm you can't get one. Certain coffee is not made two hours before close. If you go in one day the same stuff is not available the next. They seem to make up their own schedule and what they serve for the day.

The guy that works the counter must have been too busy with the only other customer in the shop to take my order. Stood there for about 3 minutes, and then left. On top of it all, they sell Costco baked goods. As they say on Monday Night Countdown...C'MON MAN. SMH.

So glad we finally have a real little cafe in this industrial wasteland! On the way to Subway for lunch (ho-hum) I got enticed by Java Loco's sign out front with their sandwich lunch specials. They had me at Boar's Head. So good. Although it took awhile for my roast beef sandwich, it was delicious and made with care. I also had their passion fruit iced tea, which comes with the lunch special, and it was really good. Not too sweet at all. Can't wait to come back and try their coffees and gelato.

I work next door to Java Loco and we've all been anxiously waiting for coffee! I'm loving the soft opening and really looking forward to the Grand Opening September 1st! Today they were giving out free samples! I've tried a few different coffees, hot and cold, and all were delicious. I've also tried the gelato and had a bagel with cream cheese today! Super excited to have this place next door!

If you are craving Latin Almojabanas in the morning you can buy them freshly baked everyday. Almojabanas are small bread rolls made with cheese and are found throughout Latin America, especially Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Panama. Got homeland bake goods cravings? And order some coffee too:-)

I only tried their dulce de leche latte. I shared it with my mother and we complained about how typical tasting it was and that it tasted nothing like dulce de leche. That is, until I got the very last sip. I over estimated my mothers sense of logic because I had assumed she stirred it. She had not. The very last sip was a big sludge of dulce de leche... So yes, their dulce de leche latte truly has dulce de leche in it and IF YOU STIR IT, you will not regret it lol
