Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Charming restaurant with excellent food and great service. Very clean. Amazingly complete menu including about 12 different margarita choices!

Plaza Mexicana is quite possibly the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. The service is always fast & extremely friendly. The atmosphere is upbeat and the decor is bright and festive, all in all a fun experience. The most important part is that the food is amazingly delicious!! The asada (beef) has always been cooked to perfection, juicy & the right temperature that's been asked, the camarones (shrimp) are cooked through and not overdone, the pollo (chicken) is tender & juicy. The sauces are full of flavor and amazing in themselves and don't even get me started on the cabbage salsa! It's a bit on the pricey side but you most definitely get more than enough food every time. My family & I have always had a great experience at Plaza Mexicana!

What a surprise to run into such an amazing Mexican food place in Vernal, UT! My friends and I were coming in from California. We tried the Colorado Chile and boy it was amazing. The portions are huge I think you can fill two people on one serving. The interior of the restaurant is fantastic, I have never seen such beautiful hand carved and colorfully pointed tables and chairs. It is a bit on the pricey end for a place in Utah. But considering the quality and quantity of food and the ambience of the restaurant itself, it's just worth it.

Vomit. And diarrhea. Two things you risk here, at least based on the experience of our family. Kind of a bummer when you're camping and and end up having to evacuate your tents in the middle if the night. Too bad because it actually tasted good

The servers are excellent! Super friendly, never had to ask for a refill & the cabbage/salsa with chips are delicious!! I have to make myself stop to leave room for the meal I ordered. Food is great. I have not left disappointed. I've eaten here a handful of times and will continue to.

Best salsa I've ever had at a restaurant! Perfect balance of chunky and spicy. Fantastic service too. It's pricy, but the serving sizes are huge so it evens out. Just more yummy leftovers to have later :)

Sorry not impressed food came to our table sporadic and some of it was over cooked and not a lot of flavor. Most likely not going back. Our party was 2 adults and 3 kids and they where not busy.

Didn't know I have to leave Denver, drive to Vernal UT to find good Mexican food. Been here twice. Food very tasty, staff super friendly and this just may become my favorite place in town.

Tried this place just after it opened (and just before I moved away from Vernal). Found the food very good (orders of magnitude better than any of the other "sit down Mexican places in town) and the staff was super responsive and friendly.

Superclean, soup friendly, super atmosphere, superfood! Would definitely return every time I'm in Vernal! Open Sundays and serves beer margaritas!

Very good food. Overly priced. The environment is great and we liked the small atmosphere but the pricing is crazy. $12.50 for a strawberry margherita is insane. Btw, you have to ask the price of margherita's because they literally cut that part out of the menu. There is a hole there...in the menu. It's good but not good if you want a normal priced meal.

This is real deal Mexican food. I hail from So. Cal - home of great Mexican food. I loved the salsa and cabbage salad that came out. Chips are eh...out of a bag. The drinks are listed as over $3, but that's if you get a refill. Otherwise, it was under $2. The margaritas are served in fishbowls! Everything here is huge in portion. I tried the 3 enchilada special: chicken with molé, chicken with cream sauce, and carnitas with tomatillo sauce ($14.25). If you like lots of sour cream, that's your sauce, not for me though. I liked the carnitas, and my favorite was the molé. Hubby had carnitas tacos combo ($10.00). It was really good, too. The beans and rice were great. Definitely homemade. For the price, it can't be beat! If this were in my neighborhood, they could charge more and I'd be able to visit often. Service was great, too!

Perfection! This place was fabulous!!!! We love the cabbage slaw and the house made salsa. Huge portions and lightning fast service help them earn the 5 star rating. We ordered a kids burrito, steak taco salad, and chile Colorado. All were amazingly deelish! If you find yourself in Vernal.... You MUST try this place. You're welcome.

I had cheese and onion enchiladas and asked for mole sauce on top. The meal was very good. The chips came with a bowl of tasty salsa and also a bowl of nice cabbage and onions. Really good. The refried beans were delicious. Service was outstanding. Hot tip! I would wait to drink until you leave. A 10 oz margarita on the rocks was $11.50! I couldn't believe it, and confirmed with the server that the price was correct. Star Count: Food - 4.5 stars in Vernal Margarita taste - 2 stars Margarita price - neg 2 stars

If I was Mexican, this would be the flavors of my grandmothers kitchen. Wonderful, authentic Mexican food in a lively atmosphere with attentive servers. You think you really have been transported to a plaza in Mexico. Plus, they are open on Sunday when few other restaurants in town are. Locally owned and operated - stay away from the chains and keep this local gem in business.

I have lived in Utah for ten years and have been throughly disappointed with Mexican cuisine. It is all slop with Uncle bens rice and refried beans from the can. Dinosaur Land brought us to Vernal for a family trip. I have to say I finally found good Mexican food. The rice was homemade and tasty. The beans were made from scratch. The carne asada plate is good and well seasoned. The chimi a la crema was the winner of the night amoung our group. The burrito was so so. And they over cooked the shrimp on my husbands plate. Just avoid those two plates and you are set for some good eating. The portions are huge. Each plate is enough for two. I recommend splitting them. We ordered way too much food. Nobody was able to finish.

This place was amazing. We stumbled upon it by chance and we didn't want to leave. Great vegetarian options, lots of food and so amazingly good. Make sure to order the guac, made fresh, very chunky and delicious.
