Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

CARB OVERLOAD! STATS: Sunday - Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Free lot and street parking Picnic area in the back EXPERIENCE: After backpacking for several days, me and The Crew were in dire need of a protein and carb overload. We wanted to find an eatery that met our criteria; open now, within walking distance of our hotel, clean, good quick service, and able to accommodate our group. Thankfully with limited establishments in the small town of Tropic and few options, Pizza Place hit all the marks. Only a few hundred feet from our hotel, Pizza Place was open. Upon walking in, I think we took the staff by surprise. The place was empty the the exception of one couple sitting in a booth. Looking around the woodzie interior, clean and set booths ran along the wall, as well as a couple tables that could accommodate large parties. So far so good. Once seated, we were handed menus and water was delivered. Off the bat, Leader of The Crew wanted jalapeno poppers. Order went in and we continue to deliberate over which of the seven pizzas to order. We narrowed it down to three; The Veggie-Onions, Mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes and tomato sauce. Chicken Bacon Ranch-White Meat chicken breast, real bacon, with Ranch dressing drizzled on top. McLain's Favorite BBQ Chicken-White chicken breast with their sweet and tasty barbeque sauce. The wait time wasn't long at all, then again, perhaps we just didn't take note because we were enjoying the oven hot poppers and collaborating our return to the Paria. Having heard from the hotel concierge that Pizza Place makes their own crust every couple of hours, we were in anticipation on the taste and texture. After first bite, the taste buds confirmed it's freshness. All three pizzas were delivered within moments of each by our friendly server. It's feast or famine or survival of the fittest with the peeps, so no time to take pics, this time. Pizzas were hot, the cheese was ooey gooey, and the crust soft and light on top and slightly crispy, not burnt on the bottom. Once the dust settled, four pieces remained, but not for long, just long enough for me to click a pic, then there were none. Yep, this place met our criteria. Would we be back? Why, yes. In fact we returned the next day, two less people and one less pizza; veggie and McLain's favorite.

Acceptable pizza served by friendly people. The pizza was hot, the drinks were cold and we had enough left over to enjoy the next day. It was not great but it was good enough in a place with few choices. BBQ chicken pizza was three star. Not crowded on a week night. Lots of locals dining while we were there.

This place was amazing! We weren't sure based on some reviews, but we loved it! Service was fast and friendly. The large salads were REALLY large for only being $5. We were thinking it would be a side salad, but it was much bigger than a typical side salad. Bread sticks ) ours were cheese and mushroom) were great and came with both marinara and ranch to dip in. We got the Supreme pizza, which was delicious and had lots of leftovers since the salads and breadsticks mostly filled us up. I highly recommend this place. Super reasonable prices, not like the more touristy places in Bryce.

This place is awesome. A must if you are going to Bryce or Grand Staircase. We got the 15 inch pizza. Half supreme/half pepperoni. We just got back from a 2 hour hot hike. Our family of four are all but three yummy pizzas. The cheese breadsticks and the brownie with ice-cream is also to die for. I don't think you can go wrong with this place. Great crust, great sauce, great cheese, great topics. Thanks pizza place for the great experience. Staff nice too. Hit the spot!

Really beautiful deck, nice and friendly serving staff. Good pizza halfway between deep dish and thin crust. Good value:)

We drove here from Ruby's Inn for a change of pace. It was a good experience. Clean, the service was friendly and the food was good. Atmosphere was relaxing. We enjoyed our meal. Good portions, and the brownie sundae was worth sharing.

There is nothing remotely tropical about Tropic, but it is remote. There appears to be three places to eat dinner in Tropic - an overpriced restaurant with a view, a diner serving frozen food, and this pizza place that is literally called Pizza Place. The "Pizza Supreme" had the right amount of sauce and cheese for the crisp and medium-thick crust. Trying to be healthy eaters, we had a green salad with a variety of non-lettuce vegetables and hard-boiled egg. Pay extra for extra dressing because the one tiny cup wasn't enough. There was a slight delay being seated, but after that there were no problems with service. Ultimately, dinner was quick and cheap which suited us weary travelers just fine.

After hiking in Bryce canyon we had dinner here, ordering a salad, meat lovers pizza, and bread sticks. The salad came with radish, cherry tomatoes, ice berg lettuce, cucumbers, and dressing of your choice. It was okay, standard and nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing fancy. The bread sticks were buttery, crispy on outside, and chewy on the inside. They came in a small sized pizza pan topped with cheap mozzarella, suggesting that the bread sticks are actually pizza dough cut into strips rather than wedges. They had good flavor, and came with marinara sauce and ranch dressing. Both were pretty standard of what you would expect from a pizza shop, my only grip is that the marinara was cold. The pizza was 15" diameter, and pretty massive for its size. The crust is a medium thickness, not super thin NYC style, nor fat thick like Chicago, but has enough heft that 15" will definitely be enough for a party of three. Toppings for our pizza included pepperoni, ham, and sausages. The pizza tasted good. It is your typical grease ball pizza, eaten at birthday parties or base ball games. The decorum isn't anything special, but it is clean, and well lit which is a plus. My only problem with dinner was the service. During power hour, around 7pm, the inside dinning area was packed. All 16 tables were occupied with at least 5 people per table, all of which only had one server managing them. This resulted in 15-20min delays in orders. I assume the kitchen was getting slammed, and required the other staff to make ends meet. The waitresses themselves were kind and very accommodating. Price wise it isn't cheap but what can you expect from limited options in a semi touristy area. If you have to choose between frozen 2 dollar burritos and this place. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

We visited Pizza Place while in town to see Bryce National Park... staying in Tropic quickly revealed the limited choice of dinner places and so we went for the lesser of the two evils. The food was decent, the fries were ok and the bread stick dough was tasty but maybe too much cheese . The ranch dip was weird, but it could be that I'm not a big fan of ranch dressing. The pizza was decent, not too bad; the dough was fresh as were the toppings, but the same as most other thick crust pizzas. What was most disappointing about this restaurant was our waitress. Though she was prompt about taking our order and the delivery of the food, that was about all we could say about that. She was more than pleasant with the other tables but with us - it was business as usual. In the end it's a reasonable choice in Tropic, home of three restaurants.

We had a long day of ATVING and the gluten free pizza was perfect. We ordered the Hawaiian, taco and the veggie pizza and all were great. We would have given five stars had there been a wine list to choose from. Beer only and soda/water. We ordered two house salads that both had fresh veggies. The service was prompt also and the restaurant cleanly. One thing on way out they have a dish of Andes mints and they were charging .25 cents for one. They should given each customer in the party one free with the bill.

Pleasantly surprised by my pizza. This place was recommended by Echelle from the coffee house next door, so we decided to give it a try. My friend and I both ordered personal pizzas, hers Hawaiian, and I had the BBQ Chicken Pizza. The crust was really good, I couldn't believe it. I was expecting frozen food style. BBQ Chicken was the favorite out of the two, next time I would add some red onions to it. We both had dessert, my coke float hit the spot, and my friend had the sundae, which was pretty standard, but good. I'd come here again if I find myself back in Bryce.

Wendy made it great. We had a problem with our order and Wendy made sure we were taken care of. She really turned around what would have been a sore mark on our Bryce vacation to that of fond memories of the entire experience. She did exactly what I would have were I in her position and it shows her dedication to keeping her customers happy! Wendy if you read this we were the couple over Labor day weekend. I had a yellow shirt and we had that cute little daughter. Thank you again you made it great! The restaurant menu offers a variety of hot sandwiches sides and pizzas. Comforting hot food after a day of snacking on trail food. I highly recommend.

As others have stated, not a lot to choose from in Tropic. We were seated promptly, and our waitress was very friendly. Furnished like a typical pizza joint with tables and booths. The pizza was pretty blah, but ok. Same with our beers. We each had a Goose Island IPA, but because of UT liquor laws, it was 3.2 percent, and did not taste right. It wasn't bad, but pretty light. If you are staying in Tropic, a decent place for lunch or dinner.

Considering this was one of the two restaurants within walking distance in town, it wasn't too bad. Got a great deal with the Family special ($25 for a large two topping pizza, breadsticks, and 4 fountain drinks) with a group of 4. We were even able to split our pizza toppings, with half bacon/pineapple, and the other half pepperoni/sausage (a very nice gesture on their end). Overall, I'd say the food itself is 3 stars, because there isn't much else to eat in town, unless you're willing to microwave frozen food for $6-$10 at the nearby grocery store. Personally, the pizza reminded me of Costco pizza, which I'm not a huge fan of, but some people like it. Maybe it's the cheese, who knows. Service was nice, considering they were friendly and flexible, but it was a bit on the slow side. I'd attribute this more to the culture of the town, since there is practically nothing around. So, +0.5 for that. In the end, I'd say this place is 3.5 stars, but because we had a fairly good experience here, I'll round up to 4.

We went there today and wanted a beer and some dinner. When we walked in the it said "hi how are you" to the hostess. She replied with "2" and I said yes there are two of us. She led us to a table and walked away. Several minutes later a woman delivered a pitcher of water without making eye contact. There were 4 other people in the restaurant at the time. We sat there for about 8 minutes being ignored. The hostess was on the telephone in the front and the waitress would walk by and check on the other two tables. I wondered if we had actually died in Bryce Canyon and nobody could see us. As we left I thanked the hostess for the water. When I was getting in my car I could see the silhouette of the waitress staring out the window at us. The service was terrible (or I am dead) The water was crisp and refreshing

This was the only restaurant open in Tropic when we came in to town, so that made our decision for where to eat pretty easy. The food was nothing to get excited about. My wife and I split an order of the Garden Salad and a Supreme Pizza. The salad, to its credit, had a lot of good toppings on it - cherry tomatoes, onions, carrots, cucumbers, green peppers, hard-boiled egg, and croutons. While most of the salad seemed fresh, I had a few cherry tomatoes that looked like they had seen better days. The Supreme Pizza was topped generously as well - pepperoni, sausage, ham, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, olives, and pineapples - everything you'd expect on a supreme pizza. The crust, however, seemed like it was a pre-made, pre-frozen crust bought from a nearby grocery store. While the food was so-so, the service was lacking. Our waitress seemed like she was constantly in a rush, and we were more of a nuisance than we were appreciated customers, even though the place wasn't even half full. I asked her what size the salad was, and she told me it was a garden salad. I asked her again what size the salad was, telling her I was more interested in how big it was rather than its contents, because I was curious to know if my wife and I could split it, and again she said it was a garden salad with tomatoes, carrots, etc. Um.. ok so I asked to give me and idea by showing me with her hands how large the salad plate or bowl was, and she said she never measured the size of the plate, so she didn't know how else to describe the size of the salad except that it's a garden salad. Interesting. I also overheard her tell the couple at the next table over that the reason they hadn't been served yet was because they sat themselves instead of waiting to be seated by one of the waitstaff. Who says that to a customer? It seems like restaurants are slim pickings here in Tropic, so I suppose beggars can't be choosers. But I don't think that's a good excuse for sub-par customer service.

Had dinner there last night with my family and thought the pizza was excellent. Not quite sure about any of the negative reviews because our experience was quite the opposite. The food portions were generous and the service was quick. We had the largest size pizza, a kids meal and two breadstick orders that came to just over $38. It was a busy Wednesday night and customers were moved through nicely. Our servers were friendly and accommodating when the drink my son wanted wasn't available they offered other options not on the menu. My husband considers himself a "pizza snob" and he thought our pizzas were amazing. He had the BBQ Chicken and I had the Chicken, Bacon & Ranch pizza. I thought they were quite good too. The breadsticks were excellent as well and we had two different types with our son gobbling up the cinnamon/sugar ones all by himself.

Had a veggie pizza, salad and a few beers here tonight. Salad was large-my hubbie and I split it. The pizza was pretty good and the beer was cold. After a long day of hiking in the canyon it was just what we needed. Servers were pleasant and the place was clean.

Given the very few options for places to eat in the area, we were really impressed. The salad was not a typical pizza shop iceberg lettuce salad but was entirely mixed greens with a lot of additional veggies. Pizza was real good. Pasta was OK. Portions were enough for two meals. Would definitely recommend a stop at pizza place if you're looking for dinner.

Stopped by this place while we were visiting Bryce Canyon. We stopped by at around 8PM after a long day of hiking. Waited for 30 minutes before being seated even though there were plenty of tables. They have one waitress and a little kid helping with cleaning tables. Seem like a family owned restaurant. Our foods came out fast and was not bad. We got pizza, breadsticks and chicken wings. Overall a good place for dinner. Just be ready to wait.

Atmosphere is fine, menu has reasonable variety, food is (sort of) fine, but service was excruciatingly and unbelievably slow. Not sure if they were short staff the evening we went, but we heard no apologies or explanations. We were there over 45 minutes before we received our dinner, and the few other occupied tables in the restaurant already had their food. The new "refreshing" caprese salad was very small and made with lettuce instead of basil (!). The kids meal of Mac and cheese is the kraft made from the box. Cheese pizza was flat tasting and seemed like something from a grocery store. The one star is because the food did finally arrive and while it was not as described or savory, it was edible.

Delicious- we had the Navajo pizza and a supreme, it fed our family of 5 and we had leftovers. The Navajo was unique but really good. The salad on top was odd but worked. The crust was perfect. The supreme was a little heavy on the pineapple but you could order it without. The price was right too, under $30 for the 2 pizzas.

In November this was the only nearby restaurant that was open. Surprisingly it was pretty good. Service was very good but we were also the only customers in the restaurant. The chicken wings were surprisingly good and crispy. The pizza was decent and would have been better if it was cooked a little longer so that the crust is crispier.

My family and I had a very nice meal here tonight. I don't understand the negative reviews, as the salad, breadsticks, and pizza were all very good. The waitress, Wendy, was very nice and kept our drinks refilled and the food coming quickly. The ingredients seemed of high quality and the value was excellent; a little more than $30 fed the family of 4 with a few slices of pizza left over. We are all pretty big eaters so that is no small feat. I would definitely visit again if in the area.

Dining options around the entrance to Bryce Canyon are notable in their mediocrity, but just down the road in the modest, misnomer-ed town of Tropic we thankfully happened upon The Pizza Place. Nothing special in the decor or ambiance, but these guys sure know how to throw together a wicked tasty pie. The crust is slightly crispy with a soft-bread-like demeanor, and the toppings extraordinarily generous. Our first design-your-own pizza was a Hawaiian, loaded up with ham, pineapple and extra cheese. (Note: hiking through canyons creates profound feelings of justification for extravagant eating). Each slice was a meal, meaning we had dinner and lunch the next day from one 13" pizza. You have to love it when good value and great taste come together. As we bounded through the door for a second consecutive night, we considered duplicating our order of the previous night, a feat that we suspected would amuse our friendly waitress even more than simply the return of a pair of starved, hike-dusted out-of-towners. We ended up with the chicken and artichoke pizza, a similarly toothsome feast that left plenty for the long road trip the following day. If you are ever looking for a diamond in the Bryce Canyon restaurant rough, or just a way-station along lonesome Route 12 in Southwest Utah, give The Pizza Place a try.

We ordered pizza and salad. The salad took 30 minutes to come. We never heard from our server again. After another 30 minutes I asked about our pizza and was told it took so long because we ordered the Supreme and it has more ingredients. Silliest thing I have ever heard. She had apparently forgot to put in our order. The pizza tasted like it a take home frozen pizza. I would not eat here again.

Stayed at Ruby's Inn and loved the location of the motel, but the overall hokiness and food options were a bummer. Luckily, we found this gem in nearby Tropic. The pizza is pretty awesome as is the sidewinder and the desserts. Definitely skip the Ruby's Inn owned restaurants and come by this place when visiting Bryce or passing by on rt 12.

The pizza is fresh and more than made up for the service which is a little frosty. I would happily return if I make it back to Bryce again.

very slow service. The pizza looked and tasted aweful. Almost looked frozen. There is no A/c in this place so it is very warm inside. Not worth it.

3 stars. Pretty much what should be expected for Pizza in the middle of no where. Place was clean, our waitress was friendly. Would have been 4 stars except for our waitress leaving the charge slip to sign and then disappearing. The menu stated that they reserve the right to add a 17% gratuity, but since we were not given an itemized receipt, and she disappeared, I had no way of knowing whether a tip had been added. So either it was added and she was hoping for an additional tip to be added to the charge slip, or it wasn't added and I ended up stiffing her.

This quaint little pizza place deserves higher praise than it's getting. Our group decided to try it, even after reading their reviews, and were pleasantly surprised. We did a large take out order and not only was it totally correct, but hot and delicious. The interaction with the staff was excellent, thorough, timely and efficient. It's good food reasonably priced.

Pizza was hot and fresh. Our veggie had fresh mushrooms on it. I have often seen canned. Price for a 15" cheese was 25% lower than in the fake city of Bryce Canyon. Service speed was typical for southern Utah, on the relaxed side.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was despite the mediocre reviews. I loved the crust, kind of thick and chewy... not like frozen pizza at all. We dined here twice during our trip. We had a pepperoni and mushroom pizza (very good) and the taco pizza (very dry with an odd flavor, but that's a matter of personal taste). Service was lacking, but it was not the fault of the waitstaff. It looked like two ladies were running the whole show for a nearly full house. Although they were rushed, I found them to still be friendly and accommodating. We went during shoulder season so it was only open for a brief time in the evening. Definitely call ahead to see when they're open.

Try the other place to eat in tropic. The wife and I were seated after waiting at the front and then waited 10 minutes before I had to ask if we needed to order at the counter-- after another party had been sat right next to us and their order taken by the same kid who sat us. I had ordered a pepperoni pizza and breadsticks. 20 mins later garlic bread came out to us. It was cold so we sent it back in favor of the breadsticks-- which we had actually ordered-- when the pizza arrived. The pizza was hot and was not too bad, but not of any exceptional quality. Another twenty minutes and we finished the pizza. I had since refilled my drink from their fountain myself. Note that we have not had him, or any of the staff, visit our table since walking in. The group right next to our booth has gotten plenty of service though... We decide to abandon the breadsticks and walk to the counter to pay, we hear that our breadsticks are coming out (From the kitchen: "Why are there still breadsticks in here?") We take our breadsticks and vacate. So....Food was decent, staff did a terrible job of waiting on us. 30 minute meal was 50 min.

Passing through and the city was packed for Bryce Canyon came upon this place cause it was the only place that didnt have a wait. Soon figured out why, not that good. Service ehh. And the way the restuarant is set up is weird..hard to explain unless youve been there. Definately not cozy!

Not sure why people are posting negative comments about a food place in a tiny town, far from the Interstate. The salad was excellent- lots of mixed greens and fresh veggies. The pizza was fine. Not great, but when you are not in a big plane, you have to have changed expectations. Service was very good. Lots of nice, cold water for free. I was very happy with this place and would eat here again.

Considering there is only one other restaurant in the city of tropic, this place is not that bad. We ordered a 10in pizza combo and it was ok, the onions where still raw, but the they really packed the combo with many many toppings. Be prepared, because the crust is thick. We also ordered some Breast sticks w/marina which was delicious and a side of buffalo wings which the cashier didn't even know they had in the menu. She kept saying chicken wings, so we just went a long with it. When we got our orders, what we got was fried chicken and not hot wings (WTF?). So disappointing.

The pizza was just ok. We had the veggie which was decent but lacking any sort of seasoning. Service was just ok too. If I lived in the area I wouldn't make it a point to come back here.

I feel kind of bad giving this place a bad review. I guess they are known for their pizza, which we didn't have, so maybe only the pizza is good here. It's family run and is one of the two places that we could find to eat at in Tropic. So it has a relatively big crowd, mainly of tourists coming to check out Bryce Canyon. We ordered a cheeseburger and the marinara pasta. The cheeseburger tasted okay, my pasta was overcooked. It also took an hour for us to get our order togo, so I don't think for their prices, it's worth coming here. I'd rather get food at the general store down the street.

LOVE this place!! My husband and brother-in-law are very critical and picky about their Pizza and both my husband and brother-in-law LOVED this pizza! They always say we need to go to Tropic just to get some more of that Pizza! I also thought it was yummy and the cheese breadsticks with dipping Ranch and Red Sauce was amazing!!

Local place with decent pizza. Service was a bit lacking while we were there, but the place was also pretty busy. Carbo-load for a day of hiking!

This place is a joke. "Hell of a good pizza," or something like that... .. This pizza tasted like the frozen pizza I get for $1.00 at the supermarket and on top of that it was super expensive. The kids or young adults working here were eating, cleaning, and talking over the food while they were making our pizza. One had kitchen gloves on, left the restaurant, came back and continued cooking. I still ate it cause I was so hungry and I paid a lot for it, and there wasn't much of a choice in Tropic. If you're going to Bryce Canyon anyway, eat near the entrance, lots more food choices there.

Tropic is a Southern Utah town outside of Bryce Canyon where the teenage girls go to St.George for shopping and Cedar City for groceries and ride motorcycles for fun times. In the evenings, they work at the Pizza Place. Great place to chill with non-alcoholic beer after a day of hiking.

Should have got the pizza, but got the BBQ rib special instead. Probably the worst chewy bland no flavor ribs I have ever had.
