A surprisingly good little place in Torrey - great service, very friendly and helpful. They were unfortunately out of lasagna, and both the bison and game burgers when we visited for dinner. I had the fish and chips - nothing extraordinary, but they were good. Hubby had the mushroom burger and devoured it. Daughter had the small cheese pizza and loved it. Other daughter had the kids' cheeseburger and was happy too. (The kids' burger is more like a slider - small but ok for a younger kid) We also ordered ice cream - yum! They have quite a few choices of flavors and sizes. They also have beer and mixed drinks, too. Overall, a good deal and good food.

This place is a gem when you travel around there in Winter season. Usually you don't have good food when you are on a long road trip but this one! It is the only place open in town during that season but their burgers and fries have way more exceeded my expectation. The restaurant seems like a family owned business that only one lady serves and cooks with one another person. So during the lunch hour, it took relatively a long time to have the food we ordered but it was worth it! We ordered a cheese burger, jalapeno burgers and bacon cheeseburger. The burgers were properly cooked in pretzel buns (mmm) and the fries were so deliciously seasoned and fried! Although the lady was extremely busy, she was kind enough to serve everyone in the restaurant. The vibe there is a friendly small town restaurant. It reminded me of my grandma's small town.

Terrible service. Nobody helped us or even greeted us. Sat down and waited for 15 mins and not even a water in sight. Left after 15 minutes of nothininess. Keep driving past!

The burgers and fries were delicious! The service was not the best but we were there on a Sunday afternoon which was understaffed. I would still eat here again!

I think some reviewers have got this place and the Red Rock restaurants outside of Torrey confused. This restaurant is located in central Torrey and its menu includes pasta, pizza and hamburgers. Red Cliff is great value for money. We ordered pastrami hamburgers. The burgers were tasty, the salad fresh and they even provided me with a gluten free bun and gluten free homemade potato wedges (they also offer gluten free pizza and pasta which is excellent for a small town). This place can get busy which can effect the speed of the service so allow some time. Although, the waitress still kept us informed of wait times and checked on us regularly. They have a good range or local beers and also serve wine and spirits. In winter this is one of the only restaurants open in Torrey. Keep an eye on their opening hours as we saw them turning people away by 8pm as the kitchen was closing. I don't think yelp has the correct opening hours for winter. The space is good for groups and couples if you want a good quality burger for less than $10.

Great restaraunt! Our server had to serve the whole restaraunt and did a fabulous job! I ordered the Game burger which was a combination of Bison and Buffalo (I think). Either way it was DELICIOUS and cooked to order on a pretzel bun. If I ever have the pleasure of visiting there again, I will go back.

People are really harsh with reviews sometimes. ... you are in the middle of nowhere... and surprisingly the prices are very fair. Seeing how there aren't many options around they could totally hike up prices if they wanted to. My personal size deluxe pizza (overloaded with meat) $9, my brother had a game burger (mix of elk and bison) $13. Food wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst... Service was nice and I'd recommend the burgers over the pizza. Be nice and support small town businesses... you get more food here and it still costs less then "fancy" places or the airport... true decor isn't all that great- give them a break. They also aren't charging you $20 a meal!

Good service and food, we dined here twice. The crawfish cake and smoked trout appetizers are very good. I had the fresh trout entree and it was excellent. The second day I had the veggie enchiladas and it was OK. The molè sauce is good but it was mostly onions. The ice cream dessert and the pecan pie a la mode, excellent of course. I'd definitely dine here again, it's got great views, near the hotels, and good service.

Visiting Capitol Reef, staying in Torrey. Decided to give this place a try. We were very pleasantly surprised! The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. It's not fancy at all, but if you're interested in local art, there are several pictures on the wall which are also for sale. I ordered the small combo pizza. Holy cow! It was amazing! It was loaded with fresh ingredients, tri-colored peppers, onions, tomatoes, olives, and tons of meat. The crust was exceptional, and had a nice char on it like it was cooked in a wood-fire oven. Ordered the small cheese pizza for my 3 year-old and that looked fantastic as well, although I didn't taste it. The crust had just the right amount of blister and char. My husband and son ordered the double cheeseburger with fries. Oh my word! First of all, it's HUGE. Second, it's served on a pretzel bun. The meat was not over-cooked, but was a nice pink in the center. Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles are served on the side. The fries were crispy and delicious as well. My husband, who is pretty particular when it comes to his burgers, said it was fantastic! My son couldn't finish the behemoth. I would definitely go back! The staff were friendly and prompt. Our server checked with us frequently to see if we needed anything. They have several pizzas to choose from, burgers, sandwiches that range from chicken, to fish, to Philly's, to ruebens, etc. they have some pasta dishes, as well as American fare, salads and bar type appetizers. As for the haters in the comment thread, all I can say is they are a little too uppity for this part of the country. I've eaten at 5 star restaurants all over the world. While this clearly is not one of those places, it has it's place here in Capital Reef. The food was great, the service friendly, and everyone left full and happy. No complaints!

Got bbq chicken pizza and my wife got the bacon cheeseburger. Both were excellent and served in about 12 minutes once we sat down. Fries were excellent as well. Recommended if you are in the area.
(4)Debbie M.
This place gets busy for dinner, come early, even on weekdays. I got a cheeseburger, the best part was the pretzel bun, the rest of it was okay, I should have asked for it to be medium, it came well done. The fries were good. The pizza was good. The waitress was very nice, it got slow when it became busy.
(4)Jessica P.
Atmosphere was lacking, but totally made up for by the delicious pizza. Was impressed by their gluten free crust-- not usually an easy item to find. Theirs was delicious! Great find!

open in winter, cheap food ($6.50 black bean burger), good fries, quick service... what's not to like about red Cliff?
(4)Bic T.
There isn't much choices out at capital reef .. Town of Torrey was pretty much a ghost town in November .. we saw the open sign and just decided to drop in to give it a try. We were hiking for 2-3 hours out at the Grand Wash and was pretty hungry. There was only two other customer when we step in the door around 3pm, late lunch. It's an all American/ Italian food type of restaurant with burgers, salad and pasta. We decided to go for the large pizza and salad to share for two of us. The pizza was pretty large for a large coming from LA. It was more like an x- large. We had the combination which had everything from sausage, tomatoes, olive, mushroom and onion. Crust was not too thick or thin Just right for exceptional large pizza . Pizza was done fresh . The chicken salad was nothing special but was good enough.
(4)Spencer P.
Not bad at all. This is a good place to get pizza or a burger. It is also the only place open! So it's safe to say it's the best place in town.

Just found out this place is promoting open carry policies. Who wants to eat with a bunch of ignorant low life losers packing guns? We love Torrey and have eaten here a dozen times or more but not now.
(1)K H.
This place was a delight. I never order burgers when I'm out to eat because I can usually make a better one at home. That is not the case here. The burgers were fantastic and since they're served on a pretzel bun, unique. The pizza was really good as well, and the salad bar was a nice respite from "on the road food". The veggies were fresh and tasty and (yay!) no yucky iceberg lettuce in sight.
(5)Alan R.
Our 1st night in Capital Reef and decided to try this restaurant for pizza after reading the reviews. We had the Vegetarian Pizza which was perfect. All fresh ingredients and tasty marinara sauce on a tasty crust. The servers were polite and attentive. A great find!

Stopped in for lunch. After seeing the prices my wife went for a $3.99 side of fries, she got a small saucer with about 25 fries on it, we thought they were kidding. I went with cheese fries witch was the same but a little bit of melted cheese on top for $4.99. Daughter got a $6.99 small peperoni pizza witch was actually really good but not worth 7 bucks. Asked for a fork 3 times and never got one. Ate at the place across the street for dinner and next time will wait in line if I have too for that. I think people must just come here for the drinks.
(2)Hope S.
We were starving after hiking in Capitol Reef and decided to come here for some pizza. It was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. One point of caution, the large is like a traditional extra large, so order one size smaller than you think you need! If we were staying in the area longer, we'd be back!
(4)Philip M.
The burger is bland. Fries were okay. Coffee was lame. Lousy decor. But it was the only place open at 7pm, so...

Excellent choice. The pizza was very fresh. Had a nice little salad bar. Good prices good service.
(5)Carol K J.
Went here because they had a salad bar and heard they had home made lasagna. We'll, the salad bar was the best thing (and it was minimal). The lasagna well, we had never seen lasagna that even looked like that. We had one meat and one veg, pretty bland and small. Sauce was dry, not even like sauce, strange...also 2 hard, weird bread sticks served with it. Go to Slacker's across the street. Decor? What decor?
(2)Neil S.
We've eaten breakfast and dinner there now. First, it's a pleasant room simply but nicely decorated with pictures. All our servers have been pleasant and competent. I had my usual restaurant breakfast, involving fried eggs and sausage and hash browns. All were good. The sausage, which is where too many places fall short, was spiced very well. But not hot. My wife had a short stack, which was not very short but very good. Light and fluffy she says. Grade of A for the breakfasts. Dinner was good but not as good. We both had soup and salad bar. The salad bar contents seemed fresh and there was a fair selection though I've seen better. The soup was clam chowder. I've eaten clam chowder on both coasts and had some very good chowder. This didn't measure up to that. It was a tad thin and could profit by more clams and even more potato. But, as my wife points out, we've had a lot worse. Their dinner menu is, I think, reasonably diverse for a place that size in an area with limited clientele much of the time. Grade of B for dinner though my wife would probably give B+. I would not hesitate to go back but would probably void the clam chowder.
(4)Nicolas V.
This was just okay. Service is nice but the burger that I had was pretty blend and boring. Also the place is sort of awkward. Is it a dinner? Is it a bar? A fast-food?
(2)Lars N.
The decor is on the mildly depressing side but the food is quite good. I had dinner here twice (it is one of the only restaurants in Torrey open in the low season). The menu is pretty down-homey and I would stick to what looks like it would be sourced nearby (why order clam chowder in rural Utah??). I recommend the chicken fried steak! The wait staff was friendly and efficient although they tend to bring it all out at once (appetizers and entrees). It is located just outside Capitol Reef to the east of Torrey. Good hearty food after a day of hiking.
