Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Awesome food! Great Mexican! Great prices! I stayed the night at a local hotel and came here before heading into Mt. Zion. This place was so good, I stopped back here on the way out of Mt. Zion. I got a carne asada burrito and a carnitas burritos...great quality! They make it all fresh! They do NOT keep their meat in bins! The burritos run $5.25 and they come with guacamole. They also make homemade tortillas...yummy! Good size portion too! And they have their asorted salsa bar.

We ordered the two beef taco combo. The beef was tender and flavorful. The beans and rice were authentic Mexican, fluffy, tasty and well cooked. Great customer service. The young lady was friendly with a nice smile. Whenever, we travel through St. George, we'll sure to stop and try some other items on the menu. Maria & Tony.

Got food poisoning. May have been a freak thing. But definitely was from here. Valerie's taco shop was my only meal of the day as I was drinking Slim Fast for lunch and breakfast.

I have eaten here a lot in the past but this time it was anything but good. I ordered the bean and cheese lunch special which typically comes with a bean and cheese burrito, churro, and a drink for $3.99. At the window I was told they had no churros but the price remained the same without a substitute. I agreed to this. When I got my food I was not given a drink with my "lunch special". The window was closed in my face as I was asking for it. The burrito was dry and cold. Tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. Had I known the special was nothing but an overpriced dried out bean and cheese burrito I would have ordered a specialty burrito. It would have cost the same. I will not be going back. Service and quality were lacking. Was not impressed with this lunch outing. This is the first review I have ever been compelled to post.

The carne asada tacos are made with cheap steak and are almost grounded like hamburger meat, a real mexican taco is never like hamburger meat. The bean and cheese burrito was not good, the beans where dry and the cheese was hardly melted. The rice was dry amd bland. Do not eat here! I tried it because of the other reviews, I am from Los Angeles where we have a lot of good mexican food, dont understand how the other reviewers thought this was good.

It's tough to find a good Mexican Restaurant now these days. I'm visiting Utah for a couple of days and I read on yelp about Valerie s Taco Shop and its had great reviews. My wife and I decided to try this place out and it was fast service and the food was really good! We had the Sopes and a Carne Asada Burrito. Definitely coming back before we leave. Do I recommend this place? Yes I do!

We were traveling through St George and read the great reviews for Valeries Taco Shop. The service was awesome however the food was just so so. My first enchilada was cold. The cheese was still in shredded form and the sauce was cold. They quickly made me a new one which was served warm. The rice and beans were too salty however the chicken and beef were seasoned well. The enchilada sauce was unremarkable. It tasted like it came from a can. All in all it was fair. Slightly better than a Taco Bell. Service was very friendly and place was clean. We won't eat there again.

Wow this Valerie s is just like the ones in San Diego, the food is made very well just the right amount of seasoning , they give you a lot of food for your buck. And the service is just as good as the service in California.

Ok, my friends, Valerie's is my most favorite place for Breakfast burrito's. We get the Carne Asada with added potato. So dang yummy. When I lived in Cali., I would rave over breakfast burritos there until I tried Valerie's. Perfect mix of steak, eggs, cheese, and potato. And I made a special order for the 4th of July and they were Awesome to work with. Thank you.

I saw the five star rating and couldn't resist. My wife and I were both very disappointed. We found the food to be bland. My beef tacos had very little taste. Her fish taco had very little fish and it was cold. Her chili rellano was very much overcooked. There are a number of places in St. George to get better Mexican food. The positives are that is close to the freeway and the ladies are friendly.

Wow. Nice lunch surprise on a journey through these pretty lands with our 5 year old. This old fast food joint converted to a clean local Mexican eatery is an oasis. I knew I was in for a treat when I had the pickled carrots which were home made and not canned. Sure enough my wife's enchiladas had a from scratch sauce and the scratch tortilla made my chimichanga a puffy work of art. I was able to get mine with no beans so I know it was assembled just for me. And the asada was quite tasty. 7 bucks. My son's cheese and asada quesadilla was so stuffed with meat that tasted so good I could not help a second bite. ( first was justified by the review: ha!). We are just passing through this time but our next visit to Zion/Canyonlands will include another stop here. Ok half way through this ( she did not know I was writing this though) she felt bad they were out of churros for my son so she, of her own accord, made some scratch flour crispas with cin and sugar for him as a surprise. Are you kidding? Come here! Ps view out window is quite nice too!
