Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Been going to La Frontera in SLC for years. This one is just as good. Must have; smothered chili verde burrito. Twelve of us ate and the bill was less than$100. Authentic Mexican, great house margarita. Better combo plate. Nothing weird. Nothing unique or special... Just good. If you like Mexican food, this is the place.

Horrible. Mexican food is my favorite but now I understand people who don't care for it, they probably experienced it here. The chicken in the burrito and the chimichanga tasted like boiled chicken. The sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can. Ordered horchata which we could not drink it had absolutely zero resemblance to a horchata, which if you are not familiar is a rice drink with a cinnamon note. Somehow their horchata tastes like coconut water. We were one of 2 parties in the entire restaurant yet service was still slow. Honestly just epic fail all around but the food itself by far the worst part of the experience. I was scared to eat the rest of my food all I could think about was an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

I have been to locations in the Salt Lake area and loved them! I went in with my family and we all ordered something different. When the food came out, it all looked the same. And it all tasted the same... Greasy and salty! I do not recommend this location!

We try Mexican on almost all of our vacations because it's usually very consistent, but this time it failed. This was the first bad Mexican meal I've had. My chicken enchilada was greasy and cold. My wife had a bean and cheese burrito that came under a thick greasy layer of cheese and had some kind of meat mixed in. Neither of us had much interest in finishing our food. Also, they charge for chips after the first round. The salsa was nothing special. Even though our waiter only had one other table to take care of while we were there, I had to search for him when we were done eating so we could pay the bill and get out.

The service was not good. We had to wait a long time to get a glass of water. My dad loves chilli verde it was not as good as they made it out to be. The rice was dry and the beans were too. I had a taco plate I thought was suppose to be fried tacos they weren't. The food was terrible and the service was just as bad.

Worst Mexican food ever. Service was nonexistent. We had to get our own napkins and utensils. Burrito consisted of watery beans in a doughy tortilla served cold. They were out of tacos so they gave us two cold meatless tostadas. There were zero whole chips in the basket. The chip fragments were saturated with paprika. Totally inedible. Margarita? Where was the alcohol? They knew it was bad. They cut our bill in half and didn't charge us for the drinks. It still wasn't worth it!!

I love the green chile. Lunch specials are a good deal. Thursday enchiladas are the best.

Worst mexican ever. The service was laughable, the food was subpar and the kids were charged extra for items (curiously, they refused to show us a kids menu). We will surely never return.

Went here last night. Surprisingly good food! Chimichangas (chicken and carnita) had a lot if meat. Salsa was great - spicy! It wasn't busy on a Saturday night.

I love this place! First ate here in Bountiful. Nice open space, service was fast. Food served hot.

I really wish I could leave a better review, but unless they change things here, I won't be going back. Here's my list of things to review: 1. The restaurant itself seems like it was built for another type of restaurant, not sure why the current owners don't redo it so it's more Mexican-style. 2. Service was fine, not great, but good. 3. Food - sorry, I was not impressed. We got a chicken burrito and it was basically just that - chicken and tortilla with not much else. This I just don't understand, and I think they could remedy very easily. 4. Salsa - as others have said here, just one kind? Really? Give me some good variety please!! Overall, they gave you a good amount of food it's just a little bland for my tastes. If they change things up I would gladly go back, but as it stands now I can't recommend them.

Interesting place. I wasn't sure what to make of it. Food came out in reasonable time period, but the food was not great. Mostly just ok. Plus they had only one kind of salsa - and it was very hot! Overall, I wanted to like this place but it did not really do it for me. Food was only ok. Not great. I thought they could of worked more at the service and the food. The television was nice to have, though my wife would have preferred I talk more to her than watch the football game finish up.

Love the smothered burrito here. Hard to find anything like it at any other Mexican restaurant. Long time family recipe and the tortillas are homemade. Been going to the chain for 20 plus year's now and will go for many more.

Great food. I was not sure if it would taste as good as their location in Salt Lake but I was pleasantly surprised. Great food and service. Our new favorite restaurant when passing through St. George.

We were visiting from southern ca and wanted Mexican food. We stopped at 3 other places before we found this place. The sauces on the burritos and enchiladas were so yummy! Super friendly waitress!!!

This place used to be a fine dining joint before it went under. The decor is ridiculous for the menu. La frontera has a big following in northern utah and have loyal customers. The poster plate for frontera is the chili verde sauce. It has chunks of pork in the sauce and the option to have the burrito drenched in sauce and cheese with onion. Its good. Not great but good. Not good for you though. But hey isnt that why wego out.they also make the flour tortillas in house. The service is mediocre. But that ok,its mexican food not fine dinning. Dont tell the building that tho.

Late posting. The interior decoration very nice. That was the highlight of the meal. The food was mediocre, at best. I prefer not to squeeze my salsa from a plastic bottle. Although we were visiting at the time, I'm sure we won't soon be back.

Food is okay. Service is the problem. We waited way too long for drinks and food and our server was not very familiar with the menu so it was hard to make a decision on what to try with our dietary needs and not very attentive.

We are from up North (Salt Lake City) and grew up on La Frontera food! My family was so stoked when we saw that la frontera was coming to St. George!! Amazing food, service & variety!!

I'm from California so am admittedly spoiled by an abundance of authentic Mexican family run restaurants. Nothing at La Frontera was bad, but everything was just OK. If you like your Mexican Americanized and/or you love gobs of cheese, then this place is for you. The staff was very pleasant.

You know when you tell a racist joke ... (neither do i, but lets pretend we know what thats like) ... and you pause just before the punchline to look around to see if anyone of that ethnicity is with in an ear shot ... BEHOLD! I give you La Frontera. I was waiting for the Hispanic Heritage Center of St George to pop out from the kitchen and surprise me with a Hispanic Ashton Kutcher and their version of Punk'd ... which I would assume would be called ... Punk'd. Anyway, I remembered I just made the H.H.C.St G up in my head which now gives me a brilliant idea, but lets get back to the real review here. 1) I should've realized this was going to be a disastrous Experience when I noticed the staff in the back room enjoying takeout from another restaurant. And I'm going to assume they were the owners, because there is no restaurant owner with any decency who would allow his staff to come into work wearing Cargo shorts and an Affliction T-shit. 2) The only have one option for salsa. DO NOT even tell me you don't care about this. IF you didn't, places like Taco Bell wouldn't offer 60 varieties of packeted hot sauce. You and I both know this is not right. What if Lil' Timmy cant handle heat but wants to snack on come chips n' salsa before dinner? Tough tamales Lil' T. You learn to handle the heat because La F only offers ONE salsa. 3) Im not going to tell you I was spoiled on amazing mexican food so that I suddenly have credibility. But I know what I like. And when it comes to Tacos, I like them a certain way (which I would like to add none of the other 15 Mexican options in St G seems to get wrong).... Steak taco with a little onion, a little Cilantro and some lime. You Don't serve Steak? Only Chicken and Ground Beef? (When you over spend on Decor you have to make cuts some where I guess) No Cilantro? What is this North Korea? Where did the idea of smothering things in so much cheese that you have to hire a mini construction crew of mice to dig out your order become a good idea? 4) when your rice is the same color of your beans, its no bueno. 5) Our Hawaiian waiter was extremely polite. I wish I was hispanic so I could justify how offended I was by this place. But alas I'll just take a cold shower and try to convince myself it didn't happen, and that everything will be ok tomorrow.

This is not your American-Mexican or texmex place. If you are looking for that go to CafeRio. If you like more tradition Mexican food this is a good choice.
(4)Jordan M.
Food is not very good, and the service is even worse. I don't think I will make another visit. Everything just lacked flavor. It wasn't busy the night me and my wife went and it still took them for ever to take our order and serve us. The only thing that it has going for it is the atmosphere. Nice design and very clean. So if you like atmosphere more than flavor and service this is the place for you.

Totally greasy and gross. The waitress staff is well worth five stars. The food coming out of the kitchen does not. I feel bad for the waitress as I am sure her tips suffer from the poor food. Both of our meals were greasy and cold in the center. My guess is it came out of a microwave. We choose to send or meals back the kitchen and went some where else for edible food. Our waitress did apologize. Her service was fantastic, the kitchen needs help.
