Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
It's was just bad. The waitress kept asking what we want every 15 sec. And after telling her so many times to give us finally some time to decide she backed off and totally ignore us for maybe 20min?! We went to look for her around the restaurant or somebody at all. So we order our food finally. It came fairly quickly but guess what?! It wasn't the meal I was ordering! I thought I'll just be going home hungry that night...so once it came, I just put it in the box and left. So disappointing. Plus I don't eat a lot, but the portion of the meal was super small comparing with other places I usually go eat. Not gonna come back to eat at that location ever again. Although-I like Applebee's in general!

Seriously, I've never had a great experience at Applebee's no matter the location so this isn't necessarily a dig at this specific Applebee's, it's more of a dig at every Applebee's - this location just happens to be the last Applebee's I went to. So why do I keep going back? We'll I keep thinking that I'm ordering the wrong meal and I've recently realized I'm not ordering the wrong meal, I just happen to be in the wrong restaurant. The thing that brought us in this last time was that we had from free kids meal certificates that my son got from his school. I unfortunately said to my wife when we got home, can we make a request to the school to quit handing these things out to the kids because I don't want to go back there again.

We had an Applebee's gift certificate, so for the first time in several years, we visited them for dinner. Reviews at our table ranged from "it didn't taste BAD, but I wouldn't call it delicious" to "totally unmemorable." I believe many of their sauces, entrees, and other dish components are prepared off site at a factory and sent to the individual restaurants to be finished, heated, and served. Unfortunately, you can taste it. The food really lacks that "mmmm" factor. That said, the restaurant was clean, and our server, who rocked one of the largest, coolest Afros I've ever seen, was awesome. He brought 5 drink refills, so bonus points for that. However, unless someone gives us another gift certificate, I can't imagine we'll come back in the foreseeable future. The food just underwhelms.

Too bad I have to even give one star!! The service was always horrible, the employees are not friendly, food takes forever, David the GM needs to get in gear and fix this store! What happened to customer service now a days? As a fellow server, i have to WORK for my tips... Maybe the employees here need to understand that. Never returning to this location ever again.

I came here a few days ago and was definitely not impressed, especially with the servers. They had been sitting in the corner talking to each other for about 10 minutes while tables were needed to be bussed This business was clearly understaffed. I also am sad to see that the manager, John has left. The new manager seems to not care what is happening around the restraunt. overall, the food was okay. I've definitly had better. I will definitely not be coming back here.

I have been here many times, each time I ask myself WHY DO I COME HERE???? Service sucks, they're out if new menu items, and I get to watch servers hang out at the curbside pick up door!!!! I LOVE it when they sweep the carpet next to my table!!!

Veggies with salmon flavorless; children's pizza partially Burnt; yogurt warm with less than 1 strawberry; oriental chicken salad wilted. Mozzarella sticks great, salmon good but had only about a tablespoon of artichoke sauce which was very dry.

Whatever you do don't go on a Sunday! I made that mistake today! It took 25 minutes for our food to come out and when it did my burger was burnt and dry, and had to ask the waitress twice for a refill. The manager did offer to buy the burger or cook another one. I remember now why we have been there in over year. Won't be back.

Worst service EVER took the waitress 15 min to get my husband a1 sauce, we asked a manager and still didn't get it asked a bus girl and saw her walk back look around find our waitress and tell her and then 10 minuets later we finally got it. We asked for an extra side of ranch I had finished my food by the time I ate all my food. The black and chicken Pena wasn't every good. The 7oz steak wasn't very good. I won't be returning.

The new menu is more varied with some interesting combos. Good casual dining atmosphere with a full bar. Our waiter made even our screwed up order right. You have to remember, its Casual Dining, NOT Fine Dining.

Being pregnant with twins, I was not in the mood to cook. We had been out all day and I needed to eat fast as my stomach was killing me. My kids had some certificates from school for free meals for Applebee's so I thought that would be perfect..... First complaint was service was SUPER SLOW and it was not busy at all! In fact there were probably less than 8 tables filled and at least 5 plus servers who were off on the side talking most the time. As for our waitress, she would come out every 25-30 min (or more) then disappear in the kitchen. Doing waitressing for 5 years myself, I know when the service is lacking. There was no excuse for the time it took our waitress to greet our table, get our drinks and food and be checked on us. When they brought our food, my daughter wanted fry sauce for her fries but our waitress left right away and didn't ever come out to check on us after bringing our food. Then the manager came to check on us (20 min. Later) and I decided to ask him for the fry sauce. He said "sure" started walking off, only to stop four tables away to start chit chatting for at least 10 minutes or more with another customer. By then I knew he had forgotten and I had a very irritated daughter ( which I didn't blame her). Since our waitress never came to check on us and the manager obviously forgot to get the sauce, I finally grabbed the greeter by the door and we finally got our fry sauce 35 minutes plus minutes later after our food arrived. My salad tasted descent but it seemed small for the price and it was suppose to be a full size. My sons meal tasted horrible! He got the cheese bread pizza kids meal and it tasted like metal. My daughter said hers was good until she ate her last mini hamburger and said it did not taste right and tasted like grass. I wasn't going to taste it. My poor kids were so patient and fairly good for dealing with their late arriving and disappointing food, that I got us all a dessert to share. That was probably the only good part. I wish I could say our bad experience ended once we left, but now I am up at 2 am with a very sick daughter who is throwing up non stop. There is no doubt in my mind it's food poisoning from her hamburgers that tasted like grass! Being pregnant with twins and now cleaning up someone else's throw up was not worth the break I took from cooking. Never again will I go to this location. Especially after now seeing all the other reviews.

This will be my last time coming here. Service sucks, it took forever to get our food. Spinach Artichoke dip was cold in the middle, I ordered water with lemon (no lemon came) when I asked for it again, it never came. When our food finally came, my food was warm and when I took a first bite there was some kind of burned particles in my shrimp scampi. My boyfriend's food came in all wrong, it took a while again to get his corrected & served. He ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes & mixed vegies. The salmon was tasteless & dry, the mashed potato was cold, the mixed veggie was uncooked (seems like it was just dipped in hot water for 15sec). We did not even got offered if we wanted refill on our drinks. Our check came all wrong too!

I took my beautiful girl out for a dinner date and we were expecting the kind of service we usually found at Applebee's--which has always been not great, but decent. This one was the worst. When we first sat down, we ended up having to wait quite some time for the waitress to come by. When she finally did, she took our order, then we both finished eating for the night before she asked how our food was. The food wasn't really that great, at least not at this location. My girlfriend was full and still had food left, and asked for a box. The waitress said "ok" and took the plate--i even heard my girl ask for a box. Then we sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for the box to get back. The waitress then came and asked us (25 minutes later) if anything was wrong. We then asked where my girl's box of leftovers went to. The waitress said that they threw it out, and she was not even sorry or polite in the slightest about it. She then said, "Well, if you want I can have the kitchen cook up some noodles and pour some sauce over it." Then I said "Just forget it." And we left, without ever having a visit from the Manager, who visited the table behind my girl, skipped us, then asked the table behind me. Wow. What an unacceptable experience. But, it seems I'm not the only one. I hope the place closes down and the waitress doesn't get a job elsewhere. It'll only cause more bad experiences for others down the road.

I was so embarrassed. I went here with my father-in-law from out of state. It was busy, so they asked if the two of us would like to sit at the bar and we wouldn't have to wait, so we said yes. I think the bar tender was upset that we were only ordering food, not alcohol, because he barely spoke to us, we always had to flag him down for everything, and he was snippy with us on two occasions. From the time we asked him for our bill, it was 20 minutes before he stepped up to the computer and printed it off. The host was the one who asked if we would like to sit at the bar, we didn't ask to. My father-in-law was upset and I was very embarrassed.

I ate there last night for the last time. Sat at the bar. Some kind of Bingo game was going on, just finishing up. I swear off Bingo as #2 on my Non-bucket list. (#1 - Kareoke, #3 bikini-trim a Kardashian). The bartender is the only person who actually works in this place. I can tell she is tired, but is always pretty nice and calls people "honey" a lot. The manager comes out every now and then to run his badge for coupons. She has to get food orders, drink orders, deliver food to tables and take back dishes. She needs a raise, or a real job at a better establishment. Ordered the roasted garlic steak (550 calories) medium rare. The last time I had this it was perfect. This time it was sorta grey in the middle like it was old and used up (see #3, above). I never send food back, so I ate it cause I was starvin-marvin. God knows what kind of laxative ability this will have on me, but I wait patiently. At least I didn't throw up last night.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
