My wife and I really enjoyed this place. The Las Vegas roll is 2 for $10 and was amazing. We ended up getting an appetizer and 4 rolls for only $34. I would highly recommend this place.

I love SushiTime!! It doesn't look like much, but is soooo good. Our kids live it too. It's a great place for those who like sushi and those who don't.

I took my daughter here (2.5 yrs old) for her first Sushi date with daddy and we had an excellent time. I ordered the Vegas and Playboy roll from the special rolls menu (got both for $20) and then some Sake. Got the shrimp tempura and veggie kids meal for my daughter and both rolls and kids meal were great. Waitress could have been a little more aware of my need for refills on my water, but I'll let it slide this time due to the mess left under the table by spilled rice, etc. from my daughter. I will be back... it's good sushi, well priced, and close to home!

My son's favorite's restaurant... he really likes the unagi sashimi or nigiri. The last time we went, my six year old could eat two portion of it. While for me, I loved the bento with combination of tempura, Kalbi (Korean ribs) and fried dumpling. The tempura shrimp and vegetable are tasty with its tempura sauce; I've never been disappointed. The only thing is that the shrimp is rather small for tempura; I used to have a much larger type of shrimp/prawn for tempura in Asia, but its tempura sauce is really delicious (not too salty or sweet, just nice...). Their Kalby (short ribs) is good, but recently, the portion is getting smaller. Their fried dumpling is crispy and good size; its sauce is tasty as well. The overall price for Bento is really reasonable, so I came down here often. My wife loved the tempura udon and ramen ... they use the same tempura like the ones used in Bento (even the vegetable ones). Their service is good, but it seems like they are under staff. We know the chef-owner as we kept coming back to this restaurant, as my son insisted getting the unagi.

We live nearby and eat here frequently. We love the friendly service, super colossal tempura, on point sauces, homemade miso soup, great sushi with no skimping, genmai-cha tea, tasty main dishes. Only things I would like added is fried tofu and ramen.

Color me impressed. Quality sushi in an unassuming location next to my everyday Smith's. This quaint joint situated in the strip mall off 9400 S. is a mere 5 minutes away and I've never been until tonight. After reading rave reviews on yelp, I decided to give it a try over Yi Sushi's unbeatable prices. The prices were off putting, considering I'm used to my half off awesomeness. Rolls were expensive, around $10+ per roll. They do have 2 for $10 maki rolls which are smaller. They also have 2 for $20 rolls which are what you typically think of when you think sushi rolls. I got the 2 for $10 spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail. They were excellent, despite being small. Most sushi joints use a type of chunky mush for spicy tuny, kind of reminds me of ground beef but with fish. This place uses legit pieces of fish. I was impressed. Excellent rice to fish ratio, probably 80% fish. Bro got 2 for $20, we got the funky and something else. They were both excellent. Great amount of fish, excellent flavors. Their spicy mayo and eel sauce are different than any other I've tasted, and I dare say superior. Mom got the bento special for $9.99. Comes with california rolls, shrimp and vegetable tempura, salad, and choice of chicken or pork. Mom got the teriyaki chicken. Which was surprisingly good. I'm usually not a big fan of teriyaki, but theirs is definitely not from a jar. Usually teriyaki is super sweet and I think that thick dark brown sauce. This was subtle, yet teriyaki-y. If I ever had a craving for teriyaki chicken, I'd come here. Their tempura batter is the best I've tasted. It's light and subtle yet delicious. Not overly done like most places. They do have happy hour which is only 25% off, but only from 5-6 pm. I didn't notice they had specials until we were walking out, but they do have specials I'd like to try next time. They also have their own ramen. Two Japanese gentlemen behind the sushi counter were very nice and greeted us when we entered. The only knock is the price, but I am comparing it to Yi Sushi, Red Ginger, and Ichiban. Their quality of sushi is superior to those places but my wallet would definitely prefer those places. I'll be back though :)

Excellent local place for sushi and lots of other yummy options for non-sushi lovers. Nice ambiance, this location has been several different things, but I think they finally got it right! Be sure to make special requests, they're happy to accommodate if possible and the chef seems to excited to hear suggestions, it may make his Special Menu! Overall, excellent food and service, we'll be back for sure!! If you're local to the Sandy area, they are excellent for take-out!

The place was packed. This is always a good sign when dealing with raw fish. High turnover equals fresh fish. Interior is clean and nice. Staff was over friendly to where I thought there was something wrong with me like I had a boog hanging. In any case It's a good spot. Too many fried rolls on menu, the avocado was hard and they gave my to go order a milliliter of soy sauce. Everything I ordered tasted great. I will go back for sure because there are a number of other things I want to try on the menu.

This place is really good! I had a bento with teriyaki chicken, tonkatsu, and Gyoza. My brother ordered a few rolls and loved each of them. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be returning at least once a week. This is my new favorite japanese restaurant in the southern part of the valley.

The sushi here is definitely the best in the valley. We love the specialty rolls, and always ask the owner to surprise us with one roll to finish our meal. We've never been disappointed! The restaurant is clean comfortable.

I won't eat Japanese in Utah anywhere other than Sushi Time. It has been the closest restaurant to me all along, but I never knew it was there. Everything on the menu is prepared with love and attention, and everything I have tried is delicious, and I want to try it again. I have never let any food go uneaten in 4 recent visits, and something is always left on my plate anywhere else. I am very hard to satisfy (check my other reviews), but this is an excellent restaurant where you can gorge yourself for $20 with a Bento Box and 2/$10 rolls. The Tonatsu pork is amazingly good, Tempura is mouth-watering, and the sushi rice has a magical texture that is hard to explain other than its not gluey like everywhere else. Excellent, laid back restaurant that is among my top 3 favorite restaurants in Utah-inexpensive, clean, fresh, quick, and made with pride. You'll wish you had be going here all along once you try it.

First visit to Sushi Time and we were very satisfied. Restaurant was clean, service was very good and prompt. Started with the calamari tempura...the large rings were very flavorful, not at all chewy. Sauce was slightly spicy and it was a good portion. On to the rolls...we ordered spicy tuna, spicy salmon, both standard, norimake style. Both were fresh and tasty. They were a little small but it was a 2 for 10...and it was alright with us since we had ordered 2 more rolls to go along with. We had the Fire Vegas, which was also fresh, tasty and nicely balanced. Not too much of any one thing. And the Mango ebi. Now let me say, I love any roll that includes mango. Usually better with a fish rather than shrimp, but that's not to say this was bad. This had a sliced sliver of mango on each roll...I prefer diced but still not bad. My date said it tasted like a "desert" roll. Very sweet. The one thing I hated was the big chunk of cream cheese they always stuff in there. This happens to be a common practice everywhere so I'm not knocking them too much about it. But you really never need that much cream cheese in any roll. Takes away from the flavor and you end up not really tasting the seafood at all. All in all, very good compared to most. Price was good..those last 2 were 2 for 20.

I really liked Sushi time. It is small and in a strip mall but pretty good sushi. They had two Japanese sushi chefs and a waiter. I think it is a family operation. They took a lot of care in their job and had good attention to detail. I got all special roll so I apologize if they are not still on the menu. They had really good but unique flavor. This isn't the most expensive highest end place near by but is definitely upper end. The prices was in that range more than the cheap places but definitely not $20 a roll like some others. I will come back when a want a step up from my cheap spots but not ready to spend $100 on dinner.

Restaurant is very dark without much light, sorry about the dark pictures. This place wasn't that great, the sushi, the hot food, the instant ramen soup, nothing really stood out. The service wasn't that great, there were only like 2 other tables in the restaurant besides us, they were slow to take our order, they were slow to prepare our food, they didn't check up on us. Don't think I will go back, the total price for the bill wasn't worth the quality of the food that was offered.

In town visiting me and my sister stopped here after getting our nails done. Place looked clean.. Food was decent.. Not the best but had worst. The price was actually pretty cheap. I just feel like you should be greeted right when you walk in and they should tell you bye have a nice day before you tell them. We frequent a sushi place back home and that place is on point with food cleanliness and customer service so maybe my sushi expectations are too high.
I did not expect much when I walk into this restaurant. I though it was just an ordinary sushi restaurant, but when the waiter brought me a pot of Japanese brown rice sencha when I only asked for a cup of hot tea, I know there's something extraordinary about this restaurant. My friend and I have ordered Funky Time roll and Beef Buffalo roll, and their dinner bento special. It is not usual you can find Beef Buffalo roll in other Japanese restaurants. When the waiter put the rolls on the table, they did not look special to me, but when I took a bite, I immediately knew how amazing the rolls were. The Funky Time roll has tuna and avocado in it. This already sounds good to me, however, the tuna was half the size of the roll!! Normally the amount of rice should be more than the amount of fish, but here, they did the opposite. The Beef Buffalo roll was awesome too. It has beef and cream cheese in it. The beef was spicy, but not too spicy, which was perfect for me because I could not usually do spicy. As for the dinner bento special, the tempura was good, but the tonkatsu pork was kind of thin, and was too dry because of overcook.

I'm one of the biggest sushi fans you'll ever meet. I've been to sushi all over slc. And let me tell you. This was in my top 3 for sure. So so cheap. AMAZING quality. So fresh ! We had the veggie tempura for an appetizer. Only like $5 ! Then my friend and I shared the fire Vegas roll (I usually don't like ANYTHING spicy cuz I'm a baby but I loved this) and the sunshine I believe ? So so good Literally the only complaint I have has absolutely nothing to do with their food or service at all ! That was all amazing. I'm just weird and like booths opposed to tables. I just wish they had a few booths is all haha !

Too bad their service is so awful because the sushi is quite good. Went in tonight (fri) at 6:30 and didn't get our 5 rolls until 7:40. I had to ask twice for someone to find out when we were getting our food before I said I was going to walk out. The 2 server employees were clearly overwhelmed with the 6 tables they had going to between them, as they avoided looking at us or checking on us at all costs. When we did get the bill, they took our total down from $63 to $43 and the server asked us to please not tell anyone he gave us the employee discount. Honestly I felt as though I still greatly overpaid due to how long I waited and how many tables I saw come and go while I was there. I just wanted to get out of there by the end of the 2 hour stretch though, and sadly I won't be coming back due to their complete lack of customer service.

My boyfriend had a craving for sushi so we decided to give this place a shot since it was kind of close to the area in which we were staying. We came on a Fri afternoon and it was not crowded. We were seated right away and our order was taken right away as well. My boyfriend and I split a "2 rolls for $20 special" with the sunset roll and playboy roll and a "2 rolls for $10" special with the spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll. And we got a large Asahi for about $7. The nori (seaweed) around the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls were kind of tough and the rolls tasted just ok. The sunset roll was alright. It's nothing too outrageous: just a california roll topped with raw salmon and a small slice of lemon. Then the playboy roll was pretty good: my favorite of the day. It was a shrimp tempura roll topped with raw tuna and a spicy mayo sauce. The other members of our party had the miso soup, a volcano roll, and a spicy tuna roll. All in which they said were "good." In the end, the total bill was about $55 tax included, but tip not included. The reason for the 3 stars was that the food was meh and even though we were able to order right away and get our drinks right away, it just took a little too long for the food to come out, like over 20 min. It wasn't busy in the restaurant, just us and another table of 3. I guess all in all it was ok in that we got our sushi craving fix (sorta), but it was a bummer that we left the restaurant unsatisfied. P.S. Take a look at the photo I took to see what the rolls look like. Sorry the volcano roll is taken from the back and not from the front.

Nice neighborhood sushi restaurant with many daily specials (2 rolls for $10, 25% off on some week nights, etc.) and surprising variety of rolls. We like the casual and kid-friendly atmosphere. Our favorites are: tempura udon, sashimi combo, sunrise roll, spicy scallop roll, and playboy roll. They also do nice party platters.

WOW! What a wonderful sushi surprise. This little hidden gem is now my favorite sushi restaurant in Utah! Not only does the chef put so much thought and love into his creations, he also caters to the pickiest of eaters. This one one of the only sushi restaurants in Utah that actually offers gluten-free soy sauce. How awesome! I have been bringing my own to all of these other places. No more. I will be coming here for all of my future sushi experiences. The troublemaker roll is awesome!! This alone will fill you up, however, dont forget to order some salmon hand rolls, a cantina roll, sunset rolls! I recommend you sit at the bar. The chef is awesome and will make you some special creations that you wont forget!!

We're very much flirting with five star territory here. I had a really great dinner at Sushi time and was really impressed with this little strip mall surprise. The restaurant is located on the north side of 9400 South just east of Highland. It's simply decorated, but does have a little ambiance going for it that you wouldn't expect right away from a strip mall location. There's a small sushi bar where the chefs are making it happen, and there are dark colors about on the wall with a little lower lighting. They also have TVs on the wall, so it's not all super serious. The name is sushi time, but don't overlook the bento box. In fact, they had a $9.99 bento box deal for dinner and we ordered it up chicken tokatsu style. Plenty of food there with the 4pcs of California roll, lots of shrimp and veg tempura, and salad with miso soup. They also have a few Korean style meat items on the menu that merit investigation, as well as a house ramen that's not on the menu but was on the specials board today. Continuing the dinner deal march, we ordered from the 2 for $20 rolls menu. We had the Funky Time and the Sunset. I've had many a sunset, but this was the puckery-est Sunset roll I've ever flapped my lips around. It was awesome. Imbibers note that they have beer, wine, sake, and plum wine on the menu so you've got some choices. Service was okay, but it seemed their timing was off. The gal was super nice and very efficient, but it took her a bit to find her groove. Prices were right on. Not quite a discount place, but for the in-house dining experience and the quality it seemed to be on par. I'd like to go back to try a few of those interesting menu items and a few more rolls. They may just get that fifth star--it seems very possible.

An great little hidden sushi place. Simple, straight-forward menu and very friendly staff. The tempura was crisp and not too greasy, and the assortment of vegan (vegetarian) rolls was creative & delicious. I recommend the Florida roll without omelette! They do not offer any warm teas which I found disappointing. I will definitely go back!

We are so happy to have this great place so near to us. Nobody will mistake it for a top tier sushi bar like Takashi, but that's not why we come here. They have a very friendly staff, terrific bento boxes (even at night!) and there is always a tennis game playing on the wall TV!

Best specialty rolls ever. I always make a point to drop in here when I'm in slc. Not the place for you if you're a sushi snob looking for something authentic. Great for well priced specialty rolls.

For strip mall sushi, I was pretty pleased. The digs are nothing to write home about, but I thought the choice of rolls was pretty inventive. Portion sizes are generous so definitely no need to order up. Our waitress was a sweetheart but definitely service wasn't great. I'd be more inclined towards a 4th or 5th star, if service was less a-d-d and the digs were a bit better decorated. But if you are looking for healthy fare and craving sushi, sushi time is a fine choice at very reasonable pricing.

Delicious fairly prices sushi with great attentive service, all conveniently located next to Smith's. Good sushi in what is essentially a strip mall? This is it.
