This was once the home of Andaman, a delightful Thai restaurant that couldn't get it's feet off the ground. I blame Sandy. Not city government, just Sandy. Enter Skipper's. Decided to try it with my youngest. She had chicken strips, I had fish. There are two batter options. I believe they are heavy and heavier. I went with heavy. It was heavy. Speaking of heavy, I felt right at home here. My then 11-year-old looked around and commented how "large" (not her words) everyone in the restaurant was. She was spot on. I guess she doesn't see me as the fat cow her old man is. Bless her heart! You order at the counter, get your tartar sauce and clam chowder then wait for your meal to come out. Our food was brought out quickly. There was malt vinegar. It didn't help much. Nothing light and flaky whatsoever. Pretty sure Arctic Circle does fish and chips better than this place. I hate being negative. Honestly. The owners have obviously put a lot of work and money into this place. I suppose they're doing well and while I haven't looked at any other reviews, I'd imagine there are people who go for this kind of thing. I see coupons for them in the mail. Maybe that's the secret? The beverages were good. I think the tartar sauce was a bit sweet. The fries weren't any lighter than the fish. My daughter is a breaded chicken aficionado. She wasn't impressed. I'm pretty sure I've reviewed this place long ago but don't see it anywhere. What's going on Yelp!?

I was still looking for a restaurant to replace O'Neil's Halibut fish and chips. And this restaurant randomly popped up on the Yelp radar and the reviews looked great. Sadness... When I got my order Halibut fish and chips, a single tear fell and wondering why the three pieces of fish are so small. After the first bite, another tear fell. The fish tasted oily and not fresh but I was hungry. So my solution was extra fry sauce on everything. Back to fish & chips quest again....

It was not that great. fish was good fry's were nasty .very little food in the platters overpriced food overpriced.if I ever eat their again I'm going to get the 3 or 4 piece classic fish everything else is mostly a waste of money.for instance the shrimp tasted like it came out of the box from the store and cooked instead of made fresh right there.

Although I wouldn't consider this as fast food, it'd somewhere along the lines of it. But for the money you're paying for the fried seafoods, the quality is great. Everything (except maybe the fries) are on point here. Chowder is as good as I remember. Oh the chowdah! My only small complaint is I wish the chowder was more chunky, I wouldn't even mind paying extra for that.

Glad to see Skippers is still going. Stopped by for lunch and the staff was friendly plus they still had the classic Skipper's cod. Also enjoyed the Classic 70s rock which was just the right touch for my lunch.

I have fond memories of Skippers from my childhood, not because it was great food or service, but because it was all you could eat. Imagine my pleasant surprise when visiting the new Skippers in Sandy to find very friendly service (mostly students), super hot and delicious chowder, crispy and flakey beer battered fish and a personable Owner on site. Skippers as a company should be proud of this store!!! I was sure impressed.

Glad to see them back in the valley. They have change the cocktail sauce and I didn't think it was all that good. The rest of the food was great. Please fix the cocktail sauce.

I stumbled upon Skippers just driving around during my lunch hour looking for grub. Everything is fried. Everything is heavy. Everything on the menu contributes to my early demise from some sort of heart disease. It's all so wrong. Then why do I love it? Because it's all so right. There is real fish, real clams, and real shrimp, underneath that batter (pic). It's fried crispy, not soggy. The cole slaw, the chowder, the fries, are all above average. They have unlimited, free condiments including regular tartar sauce, Siracha tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, fry sauce, ketchup, malt vinegar, and tabasco. I tried them all. Wonderful. I don't know if it was a fluke, but there was good classic rock music on the stereo throughout my visit, which is always a plus. My combo platter was so huge, I threw away half of it. Not because it wasn't good. Just because I know my limits. My digestive system would have been a wreck for the rest of the afternoon if I finished it. Skippers? Me likes.

We were happy to see Skipper's back in town. They have only been open since the first of Nov. My wife and I ordered the standard two piece fish and chips and drinks. The food was just like we remembered from days past. I did notice that there were a lot of people waiting for their orders to be delivered so I decided to get us a couple of bowls of clam chowder so we had something to do while waiting for our meals. For a chain type restaurant their clam chowder is actually very good. It did take a while for our dinner to arrive but they were pretty busy. We got ours delivered before our table neighbors that had been waiting longer and that always makes me feel guilty and makes me want to share my good fortune. Everybody was good natured about it. I'm hooked on malt vinegar and they had plenty of bottles of the good stuff on hand.
