Excellent food, comfortable dining area. Service was acceptable. Worthy of a visit. Wait for food was very well timed. Portions sizes are spot on. The Gulab Jamun was served nice and warm which was wonderful compared to the boring chilled served elsewhere. When I was here the dining area was very quiet. I was the only diner when I entered, but a couple other groups arrived while I was eating.

This was a very nice convenience place to grab Indian food in the Sandy area located just off State St. The interior was average in size, can fit a med size party, and ambience was a bit dark. The naan here was probably one of the best I ever had in state, very nice consistency in the fluffiness within the bread itself, and they have many styles and flavors to choose from too. We tried a few of their curries, the karahi with lamb was a decent combination, and their curry coconut korma was great as well. Portion was fair compared to places in town . Indian House turned out to be a nice close by place to grab Indian food in the Sandy area, and they are a relatively close to a fun zone if you are into augmented reality gaming.

I like this place. I don't know that it's the best possible Indian food in the history of the Salt Lake Valley but I think it's worthy of my continued patronage. I've had dinner and I've had the buffet. Don't expect a dollar menu because those only exist at McDonald's. I have a favorite Indian restaurant but these guys are open on Sunday. That alone is enough for me to return. Quality ingredients, good service, average prices. (What it's it about Indian food here that makes it at least 25% more than anything else? ) Don't care for location or ambiance but eating out is more about eating than anything else. I'll be back.

I love Indian food and this place is mediocre compared to Bombay house. It looks like they have buffet line for lunch but I came for dinner. The chicken coconut korma was great, however I wish there was more meat. I think there were only 6 pieces for $12.99. I couldn't remember the other red curry dish that was ordered but it tasted like canned spaghetios and I didn't like it at all. It was one of their special dishes. I love pershwarmi naan! I think it's better than garlic naan. In also not a big fan of sweets but the pershwarmi naan is great! Indian coffee tastes a little like chai tea. Not as strong as tandoori. Environment is pretty cozy but it can be loud as there are lots of seating places and a buffet line. There's a coupon for $5 off $25 purchase if You check in using yelp.

Big fan! This town has some solid Indian choices and often times it comes down to how close I am to the nearest restaurant. I also get the same dish so I might not have the most interesting review. Chicken Tikki Masala and Garlic Naan. I always order it Calcutta hot and they deliver.

Lee M.
First off, the naan selection is amazing. I wanted to order nothing but naan. I had boti lamb with my naan and was impressed with the spices used. I requested medium heat and it was perfect. The butter naan was pretty plain - get one of the special ones and enjoy!
(4)
Pin H.
Their chef really know how to utilize spices, all dishes was given special attention.
Thee best Indian food in the valley, hands down. We love India House. They have the best chicken tikka masala around. We come here often because we crave this dish. We always get garlic naan. The pashwari naan is amazing for dessert too, if we aren't too full. I recommend the mango lassi. Good service too. No complaints about this place. They're better than the rest.

Guys, if you had good Indian food then you don't want to go to this place. Do not let the 4 stars full you!!! 1: Mango Lassi was Orange when I asked why, they told that they put colorant inside!! What??? 2: Coconut korma had 0 flavor. 3: Lamb was dry and hard. 4: Chicken Tandori wasn't even marinated. It was in a Paprika/Tomato kind of sauce. Horrible!! Come to Vegas if you want to eat good Indian Food!!! Sorry.....

India House is without a doubt THE BEST Indian restaurant in Utah. Their food is consistently well cooked, expertly seasoned, and served at just the right temperatures. I really love their chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo. No mean is complete with some naan of course and a manjo lassi drink. I love this place!
(5)
Charlotte S.
Lunch buffet is quite delish. $8.99, not a very big selection BUT the food is sooo good!!! The naan is yummy and all the other things I can't pronounce. Finished off with a rice pudding that satisfied my sweet tooth. We were a group of six and everyone was very happy. We will be back!

This is probably my favorite place to get Indian food. It's consistent and delicious! I'm also a Bombay house fan and I would consider them close rivals. You won't be disappointed.

Ryan C.
YES! YES! YES! India House made me fall in love with Indian food. Specifically the chilly chicken - it's amazing. It can be quite spicy if you get it hot so opt for medium for the best enjoyment. Add a garlic naan and you've got a great meal ahead of you. The servers are attentive and they take such good care of you. This place is like the jewel of Midvale (not that they have a lot of competition - but still). Love This Place!

/!\ Lunch Buffet Review only /!\ If you're tempted by their lunch buffet, don't bother. It was like the Indian food version of cafeteria slop. Watery sauces, greasy naan, and flavors that betrayed the poor quality of ingredients used. This is bizarre, since I've only heard good things about the dinner menu. My only guess is that there is a great disparity in the quality of the food they prepare for dinner and for lunch. So while you should just go somewhere else for lunch, their dinner menu might still be worth checking out.

Holy crap Indian food is delicious! The mango chicken curry is the bomb! The chicken marsala was also delicious!

We have been to India House a couple of times now. It appears to be the standard family owned / operated ethnic restaurant. It is good to support someone so directly. I love Indian food, but do not claim to be an expert ;) The Chicken Tikka Masala is outstanding! Everything else we have tried is very good. The waitress is knowledgeable and helpful. We will be back again.

I have only come here for dinners and take out, but I have never been disappointed. If you LOVE chicken tikka masala, like me, then do yourself a favor and try the Kerla Chicken the second time you come here. You will thank me later. Also, the lamb saag here is out of this world delicious.

Decent indian food but nothing great. Samosas aren't bad but don't order the mango lassi. Since when did lassis become watery and served with ice? Odd, and not tasty. Entrees I've tried: Chicken tikka biriyani- not bad, the chicken was cooked well and the flavors were there. Rice was mushier than I would have liked but other than that a decent dish. Chili chicken- completely different than any chili chicken I've had before. Not sure if they were going for an Asian fusion thing- kind of reminded me of orange chicken which was weird. Malai kofta- probably the best of the 3 dishes I ordered. Cooked well and spiced well. This place doesn't really satisfy my Indian food cravings but not bad enough to where I wouldn't go back.
(3)
Chris K.
Amazing food and great prices! They make the naan fresh to order and have many items I have never tried before. I will be back!
(4)
Jim H.
2 chicken entrees and 2 veggie entrees does not a great buffet make. The naan was not very fresh or abundant. The spices were sparce as was the heat. Perhaps a good option for an Indian food beginner, but not add much for the enthusiast.

India House was a rather late discovery for me. But better late than never. For the food over here turns out to be quite good. The chicken dishes are spicy and flavorful. I would think that among the Indian restaurants in Salt Lake City, their food is up there with Bombay House. However, the service can be a little flaky. They can try to be a little more friendlier. That being said, India House is definitely better than the other Indian restaurants in Sandy and I wouldn't mind driving all the way down south to have dinner over here.

This is the first Indian food I've tried in Utah and I have to say I'm not terribly blown away. I ordered take out and was told it would be about 15-20 minutes to get the food prepared. I planned accordingly and arrived about 15 minutes later, only to be the one greeting the waiter at the front who barely acknowledged I was there. 25 minutes later he came out handed me a bag said nothing and walked away. A bit off putting, but I'm there for the food not the service so I figured what ever. On top of this experience, I got home to some relatively subpar food. The garlic naan delivered, but couldn't say the same about the rest of the meal (which included a pretty flavorless meat samosa). Judging by the other reviews, perhaps I just had bad luck of the draw. But I can say next time I get a hankering for some good authentic cuisine, I'll be dining some where new.
(2)
Carla B.
This is our favorite place. We probably eat here at least once a month. Still haven't figured out what we love the most. Unlike other indian restaurants nearby, this one is actually rich with flavors and every dish is unique. The naan is buttery and always hot when served. Oooh I just love this place. I think I'm actually going to order some right now.

Been a fan of India House from day 1. Normally I'd give a review of dinner, but I recently came in for the lunch buffet. The thing I like most about IH is that the food is always fresh and doesn't sit in the steam pans for too long. Daals, curries and such tend to dry up or go stale if it sits in the pans. They did a great job of making just enough food for the lunch crowd. The naan (bread) happens to the best in the valley! At other places around town, they tend to be crispy and flavorless. I'm guessing their secret is a little bit of milk in the dough to keep it moist and flavorful. Don't quote me on this though. From a spicy standpoint, the food is "ok". It is definitely approachable for any palate. Mine tends to skew towards to the spicier side give my Indian heritage and penchant for all things on fire. The mango lassi is a great way to end your meal (IMHO). It soothes the palate and leaves you with a fresh taste as you leave. Decor is nice. It's come a long way over the years. The bathrooms are clean (usually what separates a 4 star from a five). Also the owner/manager is a very nice guy. Talk to him if you see him. Young Indian guy. Talk to him about the food. He is very passionate about it.
(5)
Nathan B.
Magically delicious. We ordered the naan, fish masala and chicken coconut korma. They were all so good! My only complaint was that I didn't receive more pieces of fish in the bowl of masala. When the fish was gone, I used the naan to get the rest of the sauce (no way I was leaving any in the bowl). I'm no professional Indian cuisine critic, but you can trust me anyway. Eat at India house and you'll love it.
(4)
Jamil A.
The food is the usual north Indian fare. Nothing different or imaginative. Good for a quick lunch. The ambiance is better than your run of the mill Indian restaurants.
(3)
Zoe D.
As you step in the door the odor hits you, stale not a good spicy smell as others have reported. There were only 2 people there for Saturday lunch and the man who "greeted" us at the door was about as inhospitable as you can get. Hoping the food at least was as good as the yelp reviews we decided to stay for lunch. I had the Chicken Coconut Korma, great flavor but 5 one inch cubes of chicken for $12.99 is not a value in my book. My dining companion had the Peshwari Naan, sweet but tasty. There was an older man who delivered our meals and cleared our table, he was courteous but couldn't make up for the lack of any service skills exhibited by the host/server. I'll choose another option next time I'm in the mood for Indian.

order the mango lassi!!! it's the bessaattt!! ilysm (i love yogurt sometimes maybe)

All I need say is spectacular. I have eaten in many Indian restaurants in the country and this is by far one of the best.
(5)
Marc K.
While reading the reviews on Yelp I was creating a high expectation for this place and it under delivered. The lunch buffet is SMALL. When I was there it had 3 dishes with chicken and 3 vegetarians, then rice and naan, besides salad and 2 deserts. I've been to Indian buffets with way more options of food and even with the mango lassi included (on India House you pay $3.99 for it). For the variety of dishes offered, the lunch buffet price ($8.99) is a little steep. Not sure if I'm returning here.
(2)
Deanna J.
The buffet included tough chicken, unflavorful kormas and bland basmati rice. If you are looking to fill yourself up, it will accomplish that. However, if you are looking to have a flavorful Indian experience, you might try another Indian restaurant.

Everything I've had here is great with favorites being Coconut Kormo and Saag and Tikka Massala

Husband and I were offspring free so we decided to go wild and head to Ikea -I know right? We were on our way to Chinese however we decided Indian would be a better choice. On our way south we yelped Indian and came upon this little gem in "Super, Awesome, Doesn't-Get-Any-Better-Than-This Sandy." We were close so we dined here. I had the chicken tika while the husband had the lamb saag. I enjoyed my tika however, the husband really enjoyed his saag. I'd go here again IF I'm ever that far south again. Awesome garlic naan -a bit crunchy but good taste.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants. Ive been going since they opened and the owner really strives to make a great experience with great food for guests. Lunch is one of our favorites for the all you can eat buffett. Love the curry chicken! Dinner is also great. IF you love INdian food or curry, you got to go here.

I am happy to say that I officially love Indian food. I have only had Indian once before and it was a "meh" experience. The atmosphere and service was great but the food is what made this place shine. I ordered the Chicken Manchurian and the Mrs. got the mango chicken curry. I got mine on the spicy side with a side of naan bread. These dishes happened to be some of the most craveable foods I have had in a long time. Their prices are pretty expensive, but that is expected when using such exotic spices. I will go again, the question is on when...

I don't really like Indian but I managed to find some palatable foods on the menu. My husband loves Indian and proclaimed it delicious. Clean, prompt service, thoughtful decor, and they were not bugged by our baby being obnoxious sometimes. Everyone was very nice.

Anyone who doesn't believe this is THE BEST Indian food in the U.S. Is dead wrong. Period. I've eaten at the "popular" places everyone talks about, & they pale in comparison to India House. It is above and beyond what any other place serves, and anytime I eat elsewhere I only can think of how disappointed I am that it's not here.
(5)
Rob C.
I was surprised to see that India House has not been reviewed. This place is one of the best Indian food restaurants in all of the Salt Lake Valley. Their peshwari naan is the best I have ever had - stuffed to the max. The curry is delicious, and the mango lassis are tops. This place regularly competes with the Bombay House for the best food in Salt Lake.

My favorite Indian place in the valley. The prices are better than average, and the food is just super flavorful. Their naan is my favorite in the state by a long shot. Perfect mix of crispy and chewy. The butter naan is my wife's favorite and I can eat just about any thing on the menu.

We were driving back to Salt lake city from Bryce Canyon and were very hungry... so we decided to trust yelp reviews and called this place... and placed our order over the phone so we could pick it up in 20 minutes... anyway.. the person on the call wasnt great in providing suggestions nor did she give us a proper idea of the portions.. she decided not to tell us that Chicken tikka came with rice.. so we ordered extra biryani too... the paneer dishes didnt have enough paneer , the kpofta dish had very little kofta... all in all very expensive indian food and quality way below par...

Nice lunch buffet. Best Tandoori chicken I've had--very juicy and flavorful. Some great spicy chicken stir-fry, and some very good pastries for dessert. The curry on the buffet wasn't the best. Worth trying again and checking out the entrees.

Conspicuous C.
The food wasn't really that good, sorry. So they sprinkle garlic powder on the naan...big deal. It was fairly fresh, but the variety and overall quality wasn't very good.

I love India House. Period. I know everyone in Salt Lake thinks Bombay House when they think of Indian food. India House is a great alternative if you're in the southern end of the valley. There is never a wait to get a table and the food is consistently good. And they do a great job w/ take out orders if you'd prefer to call ahead and eat your pakoras at home.

I'm not indian but I do have some tasteful tastebuds and this indian food resonated with them like the new york symphony orchestra on a good day. not the only draw back but without complaining too much... I had was my seating. I got sat next to this group of people that were too loud for comfort. What a bummer on an otherwise good authentic indian thing.

I had never tried Indian food before and was hesitant to try knowing how spicy the food is known to be and having seen Along Came Polly that made fun of the cuisine. However, my partner and I wanted to try something new and she recommended India House. Walking in, my senses were blasted by the strong smell of curry powder and I was immediately on guard. The atmosphere was nothing special, but the service was immediate and polite. We ordered a number of dishes and drinks, although my girlfriend got the better end of the deal with the mango smoothie type drink that tasted incredible. Despite my worries, the food was only slightly spicy, but overwhelmingly delicious. It was an incredible dining experience and I recommend it and will return sometime soon.

Best Indian Food I've had in Utah. Im part Indian so it's exciting to eat food that resembles Grandmas cooking in Salt Lake City. This restaurant offers an excellent selection on a well organized menu, great prices (especially on their wine glasses) and great service. My wife and love this place and will continue to dine in and take out. If you have time during the week, try their lunch buffet it awesome too.

Everytime Im in the area I hit up India House. Great food and great service. Chicken curry, tandoori chicken, fish coconut korma, and chicken tikka masala are sooo good. Dont forget my favorite...Mango Lassi!!

**** - Above Average, Very good Back in MA where I am from, we lived in Waltham where on nearby Moody St were four Indian restaurants, of which three were excellent examples of the finest Indian cuisine. I ate tons of Indian food there and all over Boston and also in India itself. I have been to Bombay House and while I would give it 4 to 5 stars, India House in it's own right has excellent Indian food. I live not far from India House so I do not feel the need to travel all the way to Bombay House when I want good Indian food since I can get it right here. From the mango and plan lassi to the different curries and tandori chicken and the various nans etc, it's all good! At India House you will get great, rock solid, consistent quality of fine Indian cuisine.

Very good Indian food and this makes one of two great Indian restaurants ( the other being Bombay House) . The food is excellent and the service friendly.

This is one the really good indian food i had in Salt Lake Area. Being a indian i know how the food should taste. Trust me i have been to so many indian restaurants here in SLC, this is one the good ones.
(4)
Nate S.
The food was pretty good for the most part. I ordered a chicken dish as spicy as they would make it, and not surprisingly(in Utah) it wasn't too spicy. The naan wasn't as thick as I'm used to, but it was fine.
(3)
Christie B.
Taking a novice to an Indian Restaurant is always scary, but he enjoyed the experience immensely. The buttery naan and the two sauces, mango and cucumber, were amazing. Basmati rice with curried chicken was very good, as was the lamb vandaloo. Excellent vegetarian selections. We will return.

Really great food for a decent price. Indian food is one of my guilty pleasures that I could eat several times a week and this place did not disappoint. I came off a yelp deal which only made it even better. The atmosphere is very quiet but in a comfortable way and the staff were friendly. They stopped by several times to check up and refill our drinks. Definitely get the garlic naan! It came out charred on the edges and so oily/flavorful. I got a ccurry dish with cauliflowers and potatoes off of the servers recommendation and my parents got the meat platter to share! everything was delicious.

If you have tried out neighboring Indian Restaurants such as India Palace and Saffron Valley, you will be glad to hear that this place is the mix of 2 and its a very healthy combination. Maybe they could change their name to India Valley because the features of this restaurant are so eerily similar to the aforementioned restaurants. We ordered the Fish Masala and the Chicken Makhanwala (butter chicken). The spices and ingredients used in both dishes were so eclectic that they could only mimic Saffron's taste. India Palace taste came from the creamier side of the dishes which made them wholesome. There were enough Fish and Chicken pieces to let you know that you got your money's worth. There's a lot of Indian restaurants out there that will skimp out on the main ingredient to save costs but you can trust this restaurant to not do that. The Fish Masala was a very unique dish and I would recommend your taste buds to order it when you are here next. Chicken Makhanwala was not out of this world but was worthwhile for me to try it out. Will definitely come back here again to try different stuff off their menu.

I have been EVERY Indian place in this valley. If you ask me this is the best. I love everything I have eaten here from the Vindaloo to the Masala. If you like spicy food like me (I eat sriracha like its going out of style) they will make your food so hot your ears will melt while still tasting like the most amazing Indian food ever. The do sell beer here which is also a plus.
(5)
Brad H.
Best Butter Chicken I've ever eaten! It has been consistently delicious 3 times in a row. I also love Bombay house, but India House has superior Butter Chicken, peschwari naan, and Gelab Jamun. Their Gelab Jamun is super moist and the right amount of sweet.
(5)
Jeannette M.
Fabulous food! Indian doesn't get any better than this! Every person I've taken here has enjoyed their meal. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere - it's quiet enough to enjoy a nice conversation with your lunch date. Highly recommended.

Indian Food has never even been on my radar until friends introduced me to India House. I can't believe the flavors and the quality. Honestly, its like a party in your mouth! This has quickly become our favorite restaurant of ANY ethnicity (including American!). I don't know about other Indian restaurants around, but I really don't want to know. It can't get any better than this.

Went here for lunch. Heard it was good. Arrived at 2:29 pm. The sign was lit up as "open" and the manual flip sign also said "open". The male attendant came up to us when we arrived and said they were closed. So we struck out on our first try. Thought that if they really wanted some business, they might have let us try their food. Don't think we'll be going back.

The best Indian food in the valley! I go here all the time for dinner. I love the coconut korma, and the tandoor meats. Most items on the menu have a vegetarian option and a variety of meat options including lamb and chicken. Last night I had the tandoor mixed grill and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. It was a huge plate of roasted meats lamb chicken shrimp and lamb sausage. It was packed with flavor! I also got the garlic naan. For dessert the peshwari naan is a must. Go there dinner for my wife and I was around $50.

I was there on Monday (12/16/2013) and decided to have their lunch buffet as I wasn't sure how much I would eat. Their selection was okay but nothing to get excited about. Out of the minimal options they had I decided to go with the Chicken Khorma. I didn't load my plate up with all that much as there wasn't much left- so I got maybe a ladle full of sauce and TWO pieces of chicken, I also got a small piece of naan and some rice. The flavor was really lacking- it had very little if any spice to it at all. So I finished what was on my plate and then went back for dessert, I had this bread ball thing that was soaked in sugar syrup. Along with the soda I ordered my total was just over 11$. As I was leaving I thought, not bad but not great..... until a few hours later when my stomach was killing me. I spent most of that night hugging a bottle of Pepto on the toilet. Wondering oh dear God why me? Today, after barely being able to eat since Monday and still making constant runs to the toilet I went to the doctor and was told I have SALMONELLA!! At least now I know why I still feel terrible but needless to say I will never be going there again.

This place doesn't even deserve a half star. I have never been to a restaurant this bad in a very long time!! The service was beyond horrible, and the buffet was baron at prime lunch time. We had to ask them ( because they were not go to watch the buffet line) and to wait for them to fill up the buffet when we got there just to eat. The food was ok, nothing that great. After our first round we noticed some people scrapping the sides of the pan to get some kind of food in there plate. ( thanks people for not saying anything and scrapping together something, so the wait staff didn't know they where doing a horrible job on keeping the dishes full) after waiting for 10 we decided to leave, AND that's when vindaloo revenge starting happening. Poor costco bathroom!! I will NEVER go back or recommend this restaurant to any one. It was BAD!! Stay away unless you enjoy diarea, and stomach cramps all night. If you do this is the place!! But bring your own water they will not fill your glass.

As soon as you edge toward the front entrance be sure to take a deep breath. Here will be your first impression of India House, and it fills your nostrils with the smell of spices, and you will start to salivate with anticipation. Don't worry, this is in no way the best part of your experience, but it signifies to me that there is so much more that is about to be experienced. I've eaten Indian in a lot of places, and on 3 continents to be exact, and India House is my favourite. Period. Firstly, there's nothing better to pair with your meal than a Squatters IPA. Secondly, vegetable pakoras should always be on the menu. Whenever they are missing, I have a sadness that can only be compared to that of the loss of a child. No really, they're that big of a deal. Try the Samosa Chaat too for something a little different, it's made up of crushed vegetable samosas, and topped with onions, yoghurt, mint, and tamarind sauce. It's great to share, and very flavourful. Thirdly, Lamb. I love lamb, Australians LOVE lamb. Just like it isn't a special occasion without some, it's not an Indian restaurant without it either. The lamb at India House is prepared wonderfully, never tough, always tasty, and when you pair it with the spices used in the Boti Masala it somehow gets even better. Other dishes that belong on my favourites list are the Paneer Masala (we love a good cheese dish, and the masala sauce is a wonderful blend of tomato, peppers, and fresh spices), the Coconut Korma (for those days that require a little bit of sweet with your spice), Saag Aloo (oddly, Saag being spinach, this dish is *surprise* mostly spinach, wonderfully spiced and cooked into a curry sauce - it's also great with paneer, chicken, or the lamb), Chilli Paneer (this sauce is magnificent, and the cheese is so tasty with it), Aloo Gobhi (Potatoes and cauliflower, my second favourite cauliflower dish behind Tandoor's Gobhi Manchurian), and the good ol' Vindaloo is perfectly heated and spiced. Honestly, I have yet to meet an item on India House's menu that I don't like, and they can and will prepare the majority of their dishes vegan if you have that requirement. Wait a minute, how can we talk about an Indian restaurant without the breads? My marker for great naan is the garlic, and India House again doesn't disappoint here. Theirs is the perfect balance of garlic (real garlic), butter, and herbs, and it is hot and with just the right amount of crisp every time. Other notable naan to try are their Keema (alright Amy, enough with the lamb!), Saag, Paneer (Oi with the cheese, too!), and I really enjoy their Aloo. For something again a little different in the bread world, give their mint a try, and for something sweet to perhaps round out the meal, try the peshwari which is stuffed with coconut, cashew, nuts, raisins, and then brushed with honey. Finally, and speaking of the sweet, Kheer (rice pudding) and Gulab Jamun is the perfect end to your already delicious meal. Even if you don't think you can fit any more food in, somehow after eating these two dishes in combination your stomach will feel less full, but just that little bit happier. It is truly the panna cotta of the Indian world.

I used to go to this restaurant when it was own by someone else and it was good. Since the new owners took over it has become great. The portions are bigger, also the food is better. The garlic naan has actual garlic now, not just powder. The service also took a turn for the better. This is my favorite Indian restaurant. I hope they keep the consistency and continue to improve all aspects. My only complaint is that they do not have a baby changer in the bathroom. Great job!

So far, I have to say that India House hits the top of my list for Indian food in the SLC. Many of you, dear yelpers, are probably trying to put that into some context. Does this guy know Indian food? Has he had a lot of it? The answers to that question are kinda, and kinda. So take into consideration that I'm not an expert, but I know what I like. I like Indian food. Let's start there. I'm becoming more and more a fan of it, and this was a pretty sweet experience. To start, there's not much to the restaurant. A rectangular dining room that's simple, if not a bit stark. I had lunch, so it's tough to say if it gets a little warmer (vibe-wise) during night time service. That's not a complaint, but could be useful if you were looking for a romantic dinner. There's a small parking lot here, and plenty of parking in the area. It's just north of the Sandy Antique Mall--look for the blue sign out front and enter from the south side. During Monday through Friday there's a buffet. $8.99 gets you the golden ticket and it looks like there are perhaps a dozen or so dishes... maybe less. I came over the weekend so it was to the menu. Being a fan of saag but also in the mood for some protein I opted for a chicken tikka saag. Oh nelly. That was some tasty, tasty saag. Rich, complex flavors bu not overwhelming, and just a hint of heat. I also got to sample the alu gobi, a cauliflower veggie curry, which was unexpectedly good. Not a sharp flavor, but decidedly more pointed than I expected. What order is complete without a side of naan? This time it was garlic, and it was a more subtle garlic naan than is sometimes served. I actually prefer it that way, and was pleased with the taste and serving size. Service was kinda and efficient, though we were the only ones there most of the time. It was a very late lunch and it was kinda quiet. The food came out pretty quickly and we never wanted for water. If you've not had Indian food, I should probably mention that uuuusually you pay a little more for it. In that way, India House in on par with most other places in town. That being said, you do pay for it just a bit. Our two entrees and naan came to $26 pre-tip, and they were on the cheaper side. But good Indian food is worth it, and this is good Indian food.

I hit this place couple of times while traveling to SLC based on the yelp reviews. Good thing about this place is they will customize the dish per you need and make it spicy the indian way :) I had the best chicken tikka masala, and they made it spicy per my request. However the buffet is ok and biryani was just a colored rice with no flavors.

Oh India House, may Angels sing on high for thy delectable smorgasbord of Indian goodness. For the laymen, that means it is damn good stuff! First, if you read the rest of this review and don't just leave now and go try for yourself, well (a) there is something wrong with you or (b) it's closed. So for the two people still tuned in, here's the details.... I've been here a few times over the years, but hadn't had dinner here in a long time, so while on my quest to build a list of my favorite Indian food places tonight became the night, and it did not disappoint. Food was phenomenal and consisted of: - Pappadum: Okay, but the microwaveable type common in a lot of places. Chutneys though we're very good. - Vegetable Pakoras: Absolutely delectable, best I have had anywhere. Had no idea how they could beat this. - Chicken Tikka Masala: All I can say is WOW. Got this hot and it was the perfect blend of spices, flavorful and creamy, and the chicken tasted phenomenal. One of the best CTM I have had anywhere. - Basmati Rice: Yep it was Basmati Rice, so all good here! - Naan: Just had the plain variety, and nothing wrong with it for that. Very tasty, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside but not doughy like some places. The atmosphere here is a little lacking compared to similar establishments, but it's still pretty nice. Service was okay but nothing outstanding, but food came quickly. Really it is the food alone that gets this 5 stars. It's a little pricey but most decent Indian places tend to be. Highly recommend this to anyone. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes.

The food itself was mediocre at best but the reason for my 1 star review is the service my friend and I received. The hostess/waitress seemed put out from the moment we walked into the restaurant. She seemed annoyed that we would even be there which was odd given the fact that it was during normal dinner hours... At the end of the meal she asked if my friend and I wanted to billed separately or together. When I said separate please, she actually rolled her eyes and said "really?" followed by a sigh of disgust. Wow. I was put off. Won't be back I'm afraid.

This is by far my favorite taste of India when I'm getting the craving. Went with my mother and we were instantly greeted and were sat to our table. She had the chicken curry and I had the coconut version. They were both amazing as I expected. The rice used is my favorite I could eat that alone. The cracker thing they brought in the beginning was different but good the paneer pakoras were nothing short of delicious! I plan to be going back again and again

Tasty Indian food. Varieties can be more in Non-Veg and Pakistani restaurant without briyani or lamb!! That's not right. Apart from this chicken is very good and tasty. service is also nice.

Indian food in Sandy Utah! It's not very far from Downtown SLC so maybe worth a visit if you are nearby and want Northern Indian food. I ordered a bunch so all 5 of us could share: Mango lassi - decent, small glass. Garlic naan $2.29- decent, one giant one. better to get 2 if you have 5 ppl. Aloo Gobhi $9.99 (cauliflower & potatoes) - small bowl, tasted fine Bengan Bharta (eggplant) - tasty $10.59 Lamb Boti Masala $15.49 - nothing special, maybe only 4 tiny pieces of lamb. I don't remember if I even got a piece, but the sauce was nice & plenty of it. Tandoori Chicken $12.99 - barely enough for 5 people, tender & juicy. I liked it. Too much onions though. Rice - we got enough for 5 people. I don't think they charged us. Check-In with Yelp save $5 if you spend over $25! Charge it!

Very disappointed. Food was flavorful, but portions were abnormally skimpy. Got to go lamb korma and saag chicken - maybe a total of 3 oz of meat on 2 entrees. This after being overcharged and given the wrong order. Wont be going there again

The atmosphere was quiet and unassuming while the food was excellent. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala and it was delicious. The Naan bread was so fresh it tasted homemade. You can tell this restaurants roots are authentic. I will definitely visit them again and I highly recommend you give them a try if you're looking for the taste of India while in Utah.

Best Indian we've ever had. Chicken tikka masala and chicken coconut korma, along with plain naan is what my wife and I get every time we are visiting Utah. Incredible food and great service.

Been going here for years. Taste-9/10 Variety 8/10 Cost -8/10 Cleanliness, was a 7/10 but after they remodeled a while back it is now 9/10 --Wine and dine or eat on a budget. Able to get my fill and have leftovers plus a little tip for just a few bucks more than fast food combo, literally 10-15 bucks if you pick and choose. Some items are a little pricey but no biggy. Never tried the buffet, should one day I guess. Can go for a date, casual, or as I did often in my dirty work cloths. Just a great all around place.

This is my favorite restaurant, and has been for the last 15 years or so! So many friends I have "converted" to eating Indian food, started here! Love the food, service and prices! If you eat here, you will not be disappointed.

Came here off a recommendation from a couple of friends. Our Order: Veg Samosas with Tamarind and Mint chutneys, Lamb Coconut Korma, Lamb Saag, Fish Masala, Naan, Garlic Naan. Everything came hot, tasted fresh and delicious, and the service was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by the naan. It reminded me of the best naan I'd ever tasted at a place I used to frequent on my mission in Japan (of all places to get Indian food). Note: when you order medium spice, it's a step above mild. Just perfect for me.

NEVER EAT HERE! The most horrible food I have ever had in my life! I would rate it a negative, not even a zero! Being a huge foodie, I have ate at a lot of places, and nothing was even near to being as horribly yucky as this place. The place always seemed empty when i drove past it and now I know why! I was checking for Indian food places to cater for an event I was hosting and hence tried this one too. I asked for samplers for a few dishes I had short-listed and the woman there said she couldn't give us samplers for two reasons- one, that they don't have it and two, she just couldn't afford to give two spoonfuls of a couple of dishes for free !( even when we were ordering food for over fifty people!). She asked us to BUY food and try it and that "if you like one dish, you will like everything". When I bought dinner and had it with my family, all of us thoroughly hated all the three dishes we bought. So all their will deserve the same I guess! To start with, even a kid can tell that the food is stale. Very stale. The 'aloo bindi' was all under-fried bhindi and no aloo! The ' chicken saag' had tandoori chicken pieces in it! The chicken was orange in color to go with the green colored saag. And it was slimy! There was something that was in it that made it slimy!! The 'mutton rogan josh' was a totally different color to start with! looks like they made a common curry and they would add mutton/chicken pieces to it and serve! maybe one ingredient would be added and made it into a different dish and fools the customers. And the mutton pieces were super chewy. It lacked flavor big time and it was no way near what mutton rogan josh is supposed to look like! Oh, and the portions too are less compared to better tasting Indian restaurants like Bombay House and Tandoor!. When we went to the restaurant, there were only two people in the restaurant. Just 2! No surprises now, because this place doesn't even deserve them!! I'll always remember this restaurant. Because this is the worst ever Indian food I have had and maybe ever will! I hope we don't end up with some infections from stale food! I seriously wonder how this place is still alive, if not anything else! Phew!

I tried India House yesterday. I was happy to be able to get ahold of someone at 4:00 pm since my normal Indian place is closed. Put in orders for Lamb Coconut Korma and Peshwari Naan. I was a little confused that they then said they didn't open for another 30 minutes and that my food would be ready about 15 minutes after that. On an hour lunch break that doesn't give me much time. Maybe I should have checked yelp first but I didn't find these hours on their website. About the food...Hands down the best Naan I have ever eaten! The honey that is on it really makes it that much better. The Korma was good. I liked that I was able to get it really spicy. I will definitely have to go back.

Love the rice they used. Coconut korma and chicken Korina were great! Liked the butter naan better than the garlic but still tasted great! Only complaint is they forgot our silverware.

Food was superb!!! Service wasn't spectacular but certainly not the worst in the area. If you want fantastic tikka masala and an out of this world garlic naan, this is the place to go!! Will definitely be heading back!!!

I grew up in this area and agree with other reviewers that this is not the most visually appealing stretch of the valley. But, whenever I come back I am curious to try some of the restaurants that have popped up around here. I saw that it received good reviews and so we tried it out. I had the garlic naan and tandoori chicken. Both were excellent. The chicken was very succulent unlike other dry tandoori chicken I have had elsewhere. The wait staff was a little timid and could have more confidently answered my brother's questions about the menu. I couldn't tell whether they didn't know the answers or were just reserved. Next time I am in town, I will definitely come back.

I was on a business trip and had a little time before heading to the airport and was craving Indian food. I yelped the area and searched out this place, When I came, it had the lunch buffet available, and though small, the choices were very diverse. It was great for lunch on the go. The various dishes were good, but I like my Indian food a little spicier. However, I know that in buffet situation, you have to appeal the masses, and so the spice factor has to be compromised. The naan was good, the curries were fine, and the tandoori chicken was also decent. All in all, I would say the food was pretty average as far as Indian food went, but the price (under $10) was a steal for the choices you had. If you need to scratch the itch, this place would do just fine. As far as the service went... again, because it was a buffet, it appeared somewhat less then average. The girl who helped me was not that friendly. No one really checked on me to see if my water needed refilled, and it took a little bit for someone to clearly my dirty dishes from my table. When it came time to pay, the guy at the cash register was on the telephone the whole time he was checking me out, and it did not seem to be a business-related call. So, they could use some work in this area.

3.5 stars food here is ok. The dishes here are a bit different that other Indian places I've been to. I got an eggplant dish and you could not even tell eggplant was in it since it was all mushed with the spices and sauce. I wish they had left pieces of eggplant in it. The naan was ok, wish it were more crispier. Service here is rather attentive or disorganized. We had about 3 different ppl come to the table to ask if everything was ok eg a few minutes after the other. I guess this is better than no service, right? Prices are fair. I wish they would turn the heat up though, it was rather cold while eating and it didn't help that we sat by the window which made it colder.

Prior to last Friday if somebody would have asked me where to go for lunch on a Monday through Friday India house's buffet would have been a top 3 recommendation. After this last visit I'm not so sure anymore. It's been a little over a year since I've been here and it seems that things have been switched up a bit. Big fluffy whole pieces of garlic naan served fresh to your table is no more. The naan is chopped up and on the buffet line and was consistently burnt on the bottom. The main meat curry dish in now chicken Korma. There was no tikka masala or fish curries like once was. I never used to mind spending a few more bucks here due to their superiority but now I feel like I'm back in search of Utah's best Indian buffet.

I really enjoyed this Indian restaurant. The food was great, the coconut Korma was really good, and the Masala dish had a great flavor. Service was ok, prices are average for Indian food.

Good, authentic Indian food. Friendly servers, great vindaloo! I will be eating here many more times. I've not tried the lunch buffet, so I can't speak for that, but the entrees were very flavorful with decent portions.

I am a total wimp when it comes to spicy food so typically am wary at Indian restaurants. But the India House does mild right. The chicken coconut korma is my favorite, and the variety of naan is wonderful. They recently remodeled the inside and updated the serving dishes which are beautiful. It is a great place for a girls night out, or date night, or even a nice family dinner. I have not had anything bad here. So why 4 stars instead of 5? No weekend buffet.

India House serves excellent Indian food, probably the best in the Salt Lake City area. The place looks weak from the outside and it has a funky, Indian decor with simple tables and chairs, but the food is amazing. I've had the Aloo Tikki (my favorite) Samosas and on the last visit, Samosa Chaat (my new favorite) as appetizers and they're all wonderful. Very fresh ingredients and filled with flavor. For mains, any of the curries that I've had have been delicious. The Coconut Kormas are too sweet for my but other diners I've been with loved them and they do have the same excellent flavor as their other dishes. They have loads of vegetarian dishes and can accommodate Vegans, if you're foolish enough to be one. My favorite appetizers are all vegetarian and I've had both meat and veggie mains and been totally happy with everything. You absolutely have to get some of the naan to go with your entrees. Yeah, they bring you delicious basmati rice, but the naan, freshly made is amazing. One order is enough to split with another diner, but you'll want more. Indian deserts don't do much for me, but other diners I've been with swear by their Kheer (rice pudding) and Gulab Jamun (like donut holes soaked in honey syrup). Also, I pass on the lassi, but it's had rave reviews from other diners with me. Don't miss this place if you're a fan of good, freshly prepared Indian food! Coke products.

Check out the Chicken Coconut Korma it's very tasty. I love it super spicy so I when I ask them to make it Spicy I tell them INSANE spicy and make this contorted face. They bring it out with a look on their faces like I hope this guy doesn't hurt himself. I smile as I inhale the whole dish is a minutes and leave happy. I shall return again and again and again. Woot!

India House was a wonderful experience for us! Our food was flavorful and very delicious. For the appetizer we ordered the Meat Samosa which was amazing! It is a crisp turnover stuffed with mildly spiced ground lamb and peas. My husband loved his Rogan Josh which is an aromatic lamb dish that consists of browned onions, yoghurt, garlic, ginger, and spices. It had a beautiful red color from Kashmiri chilies. My Chicken tikka masala was wonderful as well! The sauce was so creamy and wonderfully flavored with the right amount of spices. Overall, we had a wonderful time and the food was great. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Went here for lunch buffet and arrived after 1PM. The hot food kept coming from the kitchen. I love to see a buffet updated often like that. The hot, fresh naan was appreciated! The vegetarian dishes were uniformly excellent. The pakoras were particularly delicious. (I smother them in the sauce from the tikka btw.) I don't think I've had better Aloo Mattar better than theirs. The potatoes were soft while the cauliflower had some bite to it. The spice level was mild, but the salt level was perfect in every dish. My one criticism was that the chicken dishes weren't as good as the veg items. The chicken in the chicken & mushrooms tasted microwaved--that kid of "off" flavor. The chicken in the tikka was just plain dry. The tandoori chicken was excellent however. Service was minimal but appropriate. Everyone was very nice. All in all, one of Salt Lake's better Indian options. I'm not sure that the buffet is better than Taste of Punjab or that the food is overall better than Bombay House...but it is excellet nonetheless.

Very good food at a reasonable price. I had the Chicken Mango Curry and it was truly scrumptious! I ordered the medium hot and it was plenty hot. I usually like my food on the spicy side and I wasn't disappointed. The service was also very good with attentive and helpful wait staff. This was my first time and I'll be back.

It can be hard to make okra enjoyable, but India House did it. It has the largest selection of naans I've seen, and the saag naan was perfect. Actually, everything I tried was perfect. India House is as delicious as Provo's Bombay House, but the decor is less nice, which is fine because the prices are a bit lower.

GO, GO, GO, GO, GO, GO.... You will not be disappointed at either the buffet or dinner. The staff are VERY quite! My picky as hell five year old eats all sorts of things while we are there. It is so strange to me because as good as Indian food smells, it may not always look appetizing. But for whatever reason, my daughter loves it as much as I do.
(5)
Steven R.
The spicy lamb curry was great, also tried the chicken coconut khorma which I enjoyed. My friend ordered his mild, and they actually made it a good mild. I asked for spicy and got spicy. Hard to find Indian places who can do both. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

We were out running errands and drove past this restaurant. This used to be our favorite Indian restaurant before we discovered several that were closer to us. We stopped in for the lunch buffet and were not impressed. Service was great, but the food was just ok. The naan was cold as were most of the curries. If this was the closest Indian restaurant to us, we would probably be back. Since there are two better Indian restaurants that are closer to us, we will go to either of those first.

Ate here for lunch, buffet is $8.99 per person which is a deal. I loved the delicious variety of curries with rice and naan and I loved the mango shake which was free thanks to the 15% off (entire order) coupon/book from Residence Inn. Service here is very attentive and the interior is amicable. I would return for lunch.

India House is some seriously delicious Indian Food. Great spot for dinner or a quick lunch. The Bad: The area is ugly (off State Street near grungy used car lots) and the parking is limited. The service is hit or miss. I suppose it depends on the waiter, I've had both excellent and terrible service at India House. The lunch buffet isn't great either. Stick to the entrees... The Good: With that being said it is the dinner entrees where this place shines. I especially recommend the Rogan Josh.. best in town. Order it spicy if you want to grow some hair on your chest. They also have the best Peshwari Naan ANYWHERE - and this is not an exaggeration. Eating their peshwari naan is.... pure bliss. Especially when you combine it with a cup of their house coffee. I feel like Vishnu surrounded by his concubines reclining on a lotus when I eat their Peshwari. Yes. India House's food is comparable to Bombay House. Although if I were to choose one over the other Bombay House would come out on top as the service and location is far superior, however, if you live or work in Sandy or South Salt Lake, do yourself a HUGE favor and come to India House. You will not be disappointed.

Went there with Josh S. so won't repeat the details but it was good solid Indian food. I haven't had Indian food in India but I have had similar in Nepal, where most of the restaurant cuisine is of Indian origin, and an absolutely fantastic place, the best I've had in the world hands down, in Japan, yes Japan. And out in the boonies to boot. But I digress. This is about middle of the road as far as good Indian places go and would have no qualms going back.

Dinner is the best choice for dining here and seeing what their chef can do. Buffett can be crowded and the offerings are pretty much all prepared mild. Their onion kulcha and vegetable pakora are quite memorable. They expanded their seating area and remodeled significantly in recent years, both inside and out. I preferred the way it used to be when this place was unknown and was a tiny, somewhat run down white building with hardly any seating. Oh well, that's life. It looks much better now and the food is just as good. Yelp map is misleading. India House is located on the west side of State, about one tenth of a mile north of 90th.

The food is good if you go early enough for the lunch buffet. They don't replace the food items quickly enough once it runs out. We had to ask an older man, who appeared to be the owner, several times to bring out specific food items. The servers are nice but over worked so the service lacks greatly. The atmosphere is dull and not too welcoming.

I experienced India House for the second time and I wasn't disappointed! I absolutely love their veggie pakoras and their paneer dishes are amazing! They make their own paneer cheese, and it's de.li .cious. I've tasted both the masala and saag paneer and they were quite tasty. I even reheated my leftover saag paneer today and it tasted just as good as the day I bought it. It's hard to create dishes that are just as tasty the second time around. One thing that was kind of disappointing was their naan. I think I'd rather heat up the frozen naan you can buy at the store because it tastes exactly the same. Their naan is the only reason I docked them a star. Their service is great, we received our take out quickly and it was packaged to avoid as many spills and leaks as possible. Great restaurant and I'm glad it's so close to our house!

I'm no expert in Indian food and certainly not northern Indian food but I think I've eaten enough Indian to say I know good food. I live in SoCal and travel the whole west coast and I eat out a lot as a sales guy. This place is very good considering it's in Sandy. The Indian coffee is great. It has a made on the spot authentic flavor. The naan is sick good. I had the Peshwari Naan and it was really yum (it's sweet). It's not a 5 star place so you have to set expectations but it is legit authentic northern indian food and in Sandy! The service was cool too and a nice alternative to the chain restaurants in the area. It's worth visiting. Oh and the spicy is spicy but not overwhelming but only if you really eat spicy. I use Sriracha as ketchup to give a benchmark. It's a great mom and pop shop.

Warning: this is very long because when it comes to indian food I CARE but there is detailed info about the dishes I tried if you wanna just scroll down to that. This review is also my husbands opinion. Hmmm. First of all I hate to be one of those people that doesn't have anything good to say, because those are the reviews that are so extreme I disregard them. The food wasn't so incredibly horrible, nor was the service. So if I had the choice I would fairly give this 1 1/2 stars. The way I rate a restaurant isn't just based on the taste of the food but one of my biggest requirements to make my Great List is if it tastes properly made from scratch- or as scratch as a restaurant gets. Coming from someone who has a super sensitive palette, who makes food from high quality scratch- I was not impressed at all. Bombay house is way better. Even Taste of Punjab was better. India House tasted like Indian fast food. It reminded me of an indian curry sauce block that my sister was once so excited about to make quick indian food. It is based with hydrogenated oil and perhaps some wax with the spices and you melt it in a pan and add the veggies and meat. I am kind of into health so I don't purposely eat that kind of food. It could have just been that the dishes just had way too much oil and not enough seasonings. With the solidification at reaching room temperature, maybe they added their own hydrogenated oil. Maybe all the dishes are not like that- I don't know. It reminded me of the Indian restaurant in Orem close to Smiths- the taste was a little better there- but still, Indian fast food. I know this is UTAH but there are way better Indian Restaurants than this here. Also there are good and bad cooks all over the world so just because an Indian made it doesn't mean they are a good cook in India. Or just because someone went to a restaurant in India doesn't mean they picked one of the better restaurants there. I tried 3 sauces on the basmati rice, as well as a mango lassi, the onion salad, and the Roti wheat bread. *None of the sauces had that deep complicated rich flavor of properly made indian food. -Bread is very telling of a good restaurant and it wasn't great in any way. It reminded me of Rhodes (some people love it I know, but as indian food? ...maybe those people still don't care) It was also too thick like the indian bread you buy frozen. -The mango lassi tasted like they might have used mango powder which still tastes good, but a lassi is way better with mango puree. -The Lamb saag... my least favorite (but a favorite at Bombay) was barely flavored and the meat was not tender and the cream sauce kind of had the feel of a mayonnaise based sauce. -The Channa Masala seemed the closest to made from scratch out of the three dishes but again didn't have that deep rich flavor and the garbanzo beans are better when they are cooked longer. This dish was a little more flavorful the next day. -The Vegetable coconut korma, which actually tasted the most flavorful, was the one that tasted like the hydrogenated oil curry block. It still didn't have enough flavor. -The onion salad surprisingly was my favorite part, I only wished it had more of the special spice mixture, and it needed more lemon. I didn't really like that I had to cut up the green chili myself. - also there didn't seem to be any cilantro in anything. not a surprise since there wasn't all of the other flavors (or enough flavor) present in the dishes anyway. Plus the medium spice level was hardly even mild :( I actually ended up adding things to towards the end of my meal to make it taste more because It was so unsatisfying. MAYBE my expectations were too high to begin with and I am being too critical. *The food gave me and my husband gas. His stomach hurt and I also got a headache. I have probably mentioned Bombay House enough but we don't get that reaction from there. Now that I feel and sound like a total food snob condescending to your adulterated taste buds- It is possible that MAYBE I got all the wrong dishes there. I am surprised at all the reviews that thought the food was so fantastic... sigh, oh well. Maybe it was just a bad night for India House. MAYBE since my review was so bad, you won't have high expectations and will actually enjoy the food for what it is. MAYBE, you really love India fast food.

Review only on to-go orders. Service: Friendly staff and short wait! I LOVE tamarind chutney and they seriously hook me up each time, no extra charge. Food: Delicious, delicious, delicious! They give plenty of basmati rice and the curries taste so good. I've had Indian food in many cities and this place makes theirs very well. Their garlic naan is good size and plenty of flavor. Price: Moderate and fair. For the quality and quantity, I definitely think they're charging just right.

When in the City of Utah this is a normal lunch spot for me. Being that my sister in law is a very strict health nut, my brother in law is always craving to get away to eat a little Indian buffet. This small buffet has just enough choices to make a perfect lunch. Tandoori chicken, curry chicken, lentils, everything was spiced just right for lunch. So the next time I am back in the City of Utah, my brother in law and I will be back. That's my story..

I have been here twice for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch buffet is very good with food coming out regularly so as to keep it fresh. The food has a decent amount of spice (for crackers like myself at least) so it's an improvement over many Indian buffets that are Blandsville. I could have handled hotter, but if my wife was there it might have been too much on a few dishes. (If this isn't a good indicator, feel free to buy us dinner so you can relate to our preferences) The only complaints I have for the lunch buffet are: 1) The meat dishes contain very little meat. I was fishing for any chicken in my Tikka Masala. No prob though, the "gravy" is awesome and I certainly didn't starve. 2) The same damn guy was always in front of me taking forever! I have a hunch he was stealing all the above mentioned chicken too. Come on man, its a buffet, scoop and move on. The garlic naan kept coming out of the kitchen so it didn't get soggy sitting there. All in all its by far the best of the 3 or 4 Indian buffet's I've had in SLC. Dinner is as above with the benefit of being able to choose what entree I want. I have been on a Saturday night at 7:30 and had no wait. So let your friends enjoy waiting an hour at Bombay House. Instead drive out to Sandy and get better food, faster.

My favorite Indian food in the whole state. Before this review I have been here 10 times, each time would be rated a 5. I'm surprised how many people haven't tried Indian food. One visit here and they are usually a fan. Chicken Saag is my favorite and the Peshwari Naan is amazing.

This place totally bummed me out. On their website, it said the buffet ended at 4. We went at 2:30 and the buffet was closed. Oh well, said we, and ordered vegetarian coconut korma and curry. Also, naan and some onion naan stuff. The lady was MEAN. She slammed our food down on the table, practically threw our naan at us, walked away as we were asking her a question, took our orders without writing them down and then showed up a few minutes later and took them again crankily (at least this time she wrote them down!) and she was just very unpleasant. She also sat in the opposite corner of us and stared at us for a good 10 minutes. I got serious creepy angry serial killer vibes off her. The food was okay. I've had better coconut korma, but the curry was quite good. I didn't like the spices on the onion naan, but since I've only ever tried it from one other place I don't know if those spices are normal or not. I thought it was kind of overpriced, especially since we ordered lunch portions. The meal cost over $30 for two, which is a little pricey in my book. I probably won't go back here, mostly because I'm terrified of that waitress. I just know if I walk through their door she's going to throw boiling hot tikka masala at me!

Great great great! I've eaten at other Indian places in SLC, but none impressed me like India House. I will be a regular here. Thanks for caring about what you do!

The Mango Chicken Curry is the absolute best and have rarely been disappointed by the other menu offerings. I prefer the meat samosa to the veggie but my significant other feels the opposite. Have not yet eaten in the restaurant, only gotten take out about 5 times. They always give plenty of rice in the take-out orders.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

(4)Mylan D.
(3)Howie O.
Big fan! This town has some solid Indian choices and often times it comes down to how close I am to the nearest restaurant. I also get the same dish so I might not have the most interesting review. Chicken Tikki Masala and Garlic Naan. I always order it Calcutta hot and they deliver.
(5)Lee M.
First off, the naan selection is amazing. I wanted to order nothing but naan. I had boti lamb with my naan and was impressed with the spices used. I requested medium heat and it was perfect. The butter naan was pretty plain - get one of the special ones and enjoy!
(4)Pin H.
Their chef really know how to utilize spices, all dishes was given special attention.
(5)Brittney N.
This has been one of my favorite Indian places for a long time, but it's got a lot more competition now. What I'm realizing about Indian food in general is that 1. I believe it is overpriced no matter where you go. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to overpay every once in a while because I don't want to take the time and effort to make it myself. Nevertheless... My boyfriend is a big eater, and after 2 orders including rice, we were both still hungry. 2. Every place is going to have dishes that they do better than others. For example, this place has one of the best lamb saags. Conversely, I find their chicken coconut korma to be lacking the rich creaminess of other restaurants. 3. Seems like a lot of people are going for the lunch buffet, which I have no experience with. 4. I know some places give you "free" naan, but usually their entrees are more expensive. This place is not a free naan place, that being said, their garlic naan is lovely. I think part of the problem is that the bf and I don't eat flour, and so we don't get full on the carbs like other people do. If we had our druthers we would druther the entrées big bigger and with more meat. Still, the flavors here are nice and we will keep it on our list of Indian food go to's.
(4)Ariane A.
(5)Peter B.
Sorry.....
(1)Sam S.
(5)Charlotte S.
(5)Aimee S.
This is probably my favorite place to get Indian food. It's consistent and delicious! I'm also a Bombay house fan and I would consider them close rivals. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Ryan C.
YES! YES!
(5)Tiiu O.
(2)Lori B.
Holy crap Indian food is delicious! The mango chicken curry is the bomb! The chicken marsala was also delicious!
(5)Steve G.
(4)Emily J.
I have only come here for dinners and take out, but I have never been disappointed. If you LOVE chicken tikka masala, like me, then do yourself a favor and try the Kerla Chicken the second time you come here. You will thank me later. Also, the lamb saag here is out of this world delicious.
(4)Anita C.
(3)Chris K.
Amazing food and great prices! They make the naan fresh to order and have many items I have never tried before. I will be back!
(4)Jim H.
2 chicken entrees and 2 veggie entrees does not a great buffet make. The naan was not very fresh or abundant. The spices were sparce as was the heat. Perhaps a good option for an Indian food beginner, but not add much for the enthusiast.
(2)Harsha R.
(4)Nate B.
(2)Carla B.
(5)Dave N.
(5)Nathan B.
(4)Jamil A.
The food is the usual north Indian fare. Nothing different or imaginative. Good for a quick lunch. The ambiance is better than your run of the mill Indian restaurants.
(3)Zoe D.
(2)Chris K.
order the mango lassi!!! it's the bessaattt!! ilysm (i love yogurt sometimes maybe)
(4)Mike H.
All I need say is spectacular. I have eaten in many Indian restaurants in the country and this is by far one of the best.
(5)Marc K.
(2)Deanna J.
The buffet included tough chicken, unflavorful kormas and bland basmati rice. If you are looking to fill yourself up, it will accomplish that. However, if you are looking to have a flavorful Indian experience, you might try another Indian restaurant.
(1)Mark C.
Everything I've had here is great with favorites being Coconut Kormo and Saag and Tikka Massala
(5)Fae L.
(4)Dave R.
(5)Maxwell M.
(4)Sabrina R.
I don't really like Indian but I managed to find some palatable foods on the menu. My husband loves Indian and proclaimed it delicious. Clean, prompt service, thoughtful decor, and they were not bugged by our baby being obnoxious sometimes. Everyone was very nice.
(4)Max S.
Excellent food, even though service was a little slow.
(5)Will W.
I visited on Feb 7. They had a Yelp check in bonus. The Karahi Lamb was ordered medium and was great with the correct amount of spicyness. The Peshwari Naan was delicious also.
(4)David H.
Fantastic Indian food.
(5)David J.
Wonderful, try the lamb coconut korma. I count this among the best Indian I've had in America.
(5)Nick J.
(5)Rob C.
(5)Upasak B.
Best chicken vindaloo in town..there is definitely room for improvement with their service but the food is awesome.. highly recommend
(4)Robert W.
Excellent tasting food. I had some great tasting nan and chicken tikki masala. Yummy. It was suggested by my waiter. I will be back.
(5)Ryan M.
My favorite Indian place in the valley. The prices are better than average, and the food is just super flavorful. Their naan is my favorite in the state by a long shot. Perfect mix of crispy and chewy. The butter naan is my wife's favorite and I can eat just about any thing on the menu.
(4)Sid G.
(2)Derek S.
Nice lunch buffet. Best Tandoori chicken I've had--very juicy and flavorful. Some great spicy chicken stir-fry, and some very good pastries for dessert. The curry on the buffet wasn't the best. Worth trying again and checking out the entrees.
(4)Conspicuous C.
The food wasn't really that good, sorry. So they sprinkle garlic powder on the naan...big deal. It was fairly fresh, but the variety and overall quality wasn't very good.
(2)Tammy M.
Our favorite place to go! We crave their food! Good portions and great flavor! Best in the valley!
(5)Kelly H.
(5)Kelsey M.
(4)Michael M.
(4)Gavin B.
(5)Monica R.
Everytime Im in the area I hit up India House. Great food and great service. Chicken curry, tandoori chicken, fish coconut korma, and chicken tikka masala are sooo good. Dont forget my favorite...Mango Lassi!!
(4)Joe S.
(4)Jorgen M.
Very good Indian food and this makes one of two great Indian restaurants ( the other being Bombay House) . The food is excellent and the service friendly.
(4)Alan M.
I'd heard great things about the lunch buffet. The food was good, but the buffet selection was weak.
(4)Vishal C.
This is one the really good indian food i had in Salt Lake Area. Being a indian i know how the food should taste. Trust me i have been to so many indian restaurants here in SLC, this is one the good ones.
(4)Nate S.
The food was pretty good for the most part. I ordered a chicken dish as spicy as they would make it, and not surprisingly(in Utah) it wasn't too spicy. The naan wasn't as thick as I'm used to, but it was fine.
(3)Christie B.
(4)Vivi N.
(4)Varun Y.
(4)Julie H.
(5)Brad H.
Best Butter Chicken I've ever eaten! It has been consistently delicious 3 times in a row. I also love Bombay house, but India House has superior Butter Chicken, peschwari naan, and Gelab Jamun. Their Gelab Jamun is super moist and the right amount of sweet.
(5)Jeannette M.
Fabulous food! Indian doesn't get any better than this! Every person I've taken here has enjoyed their meal. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere - it's quiet enough to enjoy a nice conversation with your lunch date. Highly recommended.
(5)Randy J.
(5)Flyn D.

Great food, a little pricey for their portion sizes but adequate. The male servers aren't the best.
(3)Clayton B.
The chicken tikka masala is great as is the korma.
(4)Olyssa K.
We did their all you can eat buffet and I have to say they had a pretty good selection. Definitely will be going back.
(4)Annie S.
Great weekday buffet. I've come here a few times for dinner and love the butter chicken.

(5)Sarah B.

(5)Arun T.
Tasty Indian food. Varieties can be more in Non-Veg and Pakistani restaurant without briyani or lamb!! That's not right. Apart from this chicken is very good and tasty. service is also nice.
(4)Ann L.
Charge it!
(4)joe z.
Very disappointed. Food was flavorful, but portions were abnormally skimpy. Got to go lamb korma and saag chicken - maybe a total of 3 oz of meat on 2 entrees. This after being overcharged and given the wrong order. Wont be going there again
(1)Rick W.
(5)Josh W.
Best Indian we've ever had. Chicken tikka masala and chicken coconut korma, along with plain naan is what my wife and I get every time we are visiting Utah. Incredible food and great service.
(5)Sean D.
(4)Angel F.
This is my favorite restaurant, and has been for the last 15 years or so! So many friends I have "converted" to eating Indian food, started here! Love the food, service and prices! If you eat here, you will not be disappointed.
(5)Joshua S.

(4)Carissa F.
Love the rice they used. Coconut korma and chicken Korina were great! Liked the butter naan better than the garlic but still tasted great! Only complaint is they forgot our silverware.
(4)Ali C.
Food was superb!!! Service wasn't spectacular but certainly not the worst in the area. If you want fantastic tikka masala and an out of this world garlic naan, this is the place to go!! Will definitely be heading back!!!
(5)Cory C.

(3)Julie C.
(4)Todd D.
(3)Sri V.
Had vindaloo which is not so great. Good ambience and background music. Service is okay.
(3)Byron S.
I really enjoyed this Indian restaurant. The food was great, the coconut Korma was really good, and the Masala dish had a great flavor. Service was ok, prices are average for Indian food.
(4)Joshua S.
Good, authentic Indian food. Friendly servers, great vindaloo! I will be eating here many more times. I've not tried the lunch buffet, so I can't speak for that, but the entrees were very flavorful with decent portions.
(4)Stephanie J.
(4)Jim D.
(4)Daniel Y.
Woot!
(5)Holly S.
Wonderful lunch buffet, reasonably priced and wonderful food choices.
(4)Ann N.
(5)Gena O.
Super delish... Would have licked the bowels clean. Took an extra helping home of the mango chicken curry.
(4)Annie W.
We dig it so much. Delicious Lassi and curry. This was a random yelp-inspired dinner in Sandy. We weren't disappointed!
(4)Laura C.
Very good. Good service, good food, good buffet for lunch, and pretty clean. All around good every time we go.
(4)Jeff H.
(4)Jim P.
(5)C. C.
(5)Jessica S.
(5)Steven R.
The spicy lamb curry was great, also tried the chicken coconut khorma which I enjoyed. My friend ordered his mild, and they actually made it a good mild. I asked for spicy and got spicy. Hard to find Indian places who can do both. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
(5)J J.
(2)May R.
(3)Christian V.
(4)Mark S.
(4)Albert H.
(4)Jaz L.

My first time in slc. This place was near the hotel so we gave it a try. And we're so glad we did. They have great food!
