Terrible service!! We had to go find a server to take our order after waiting 15-20mins. They ran out of beef after I already ordered so had to reorder. Everyone at our table got served at different times. We didn't even get to eat together... Sushi is okay.. But definitely won't be back because of the lack of service.

What did I expect coming here? After all it is a 50% off Sushi restaurant. The sushi at best is just ok; I found all the rolls I ordered to be the same, drenched in mayo. The flavors all mixed together and in the end you were just eating the same thing. We didn't even finish because we got so sick of all the same flavors, and we actually boxed it home (which is a first for us). I would never pay full priced for what we ordered; it was so not worth the money. With $9 tip, we spent close to $60, and that to me seemed too expensive for that type of sushi. We were better off going to Tepanyaki or Nagoya Sushi in Sugarhouse. My favorite item from the place was the miso soup and that was about it, I will not be returning.

My boyfriend and I, were driving around and we saw this sushi restaurant. They recently just opened, and we thought it would be good since they're selling their sushi for 50% off. We loved their sushi, we had the Lion Roll, Executive, the tigers eye, and our favorite was the Hidden Dragon roll and everything was under 30 dollars! Service was good, they were friendly and reliable. We're definitely coming back!

They have a vast selection of specialty rolls and the sushi is made very well (looks authentic). Presentation is nice, but it did not taste very fresh. Rice seemed to be prepared a while ago. Had the spider roll and the lion roll. Also had the spicy tuna roll and eel roll which comes with miso soup or salad when you buy two of these rolls. Location is in the area where Ocean Mart is, so its convenient for people in the Sandy area. Very spacious restaurant too.

I am usually weary of sushi restaurants that permanently advertise "50% off rolls" because most put out food with pretty poor quality. This unfortunately is one of those cases, and in fact it turned out to be one of the worst sushi experiences I have had in a long time. Most of the rolls are 50% off just as advertised (except for "naruto rolls" which are the ones wrapped in cucumber instead of rice and seaweed). The price for specialty rolls ranges from $5 to$7 after discount, while the simpler maki rolls are $2.5 each and comes with miso soup or salad when you order 2. They do have a pretty good variety of rolls, here are the one we ordered. 1. Rainbow Roll - Just your standard variety with salmon, white tuna and avocado on top of a california roll. Pretty small portion even for the discounted price. Tasted okay. 2. 101 Roll - This is a deep fried roll with avocado and white tuna (?) inside. Everything inside was mushy and for some reason the avocado left a weird sour aftertaste. I would not order this again. I'm still bloated from eating it. 3. Sea Dragon Roll - This one is the best tasting one out of the bunch. The shrimp on top gave a nice crunch and was a good contrast with the snow crab roll underneath. 4. Salmon Maki and Tuna Maki - These were terrible and I would not order these ever again even if they were $1! The seaweed was super chewy and the fish was chewy. The pieces are tiny and had way more rice than fish. They look very unappetizing as a whole and I actually had to spit one piece out because the fish was too chewy and there was something really hard mixed in the rice. These were bad! So overall, I think the food is pretty bad and not worth it even with the discount. The service was good though and the waiters were very attentive. I don't know if it is because I came on a bad night but I have no plan to return any time soon.

So it begins of the 50% off sushi/Chinese fusion sprouting up like uncontrollable weeds in the valley. It also marks the end of our journey to try out such places. The end result is the same. Poor quality fish and even poorer quality Chinese food. Please stick to either "Japanese" or Chinese food people, the two are not the same nor are they meant to be "fusioned" together!!!! We didn't realize it until we saw the menu, but this is the second location of the original location on 3300 S. and State Street. We have had only tried the sushi at the original location and ventured into also trying the Chinese at this location. Sushi - 3 Stars - A-ok. It's 50% off sushi, you get what you pay for! Chinese Food and other menu items - 0 Stars - The chicken and egg in the udon soup dish was spoiled and sour, we brought it to the waitress' attention and it was comped off our bill. Lemon chicken was very bland and had no flavor of lemon nor the tanginess of traditional lemon chicken. Service - 4 Stars - Our poor waitress was very nice and sympathetic to our experience there. Overall, Ichiban is good if you want a cheap sushi fix. I would not recommend it to sushi fanatics nor to anyone looking for good Chinese food.

My favorite place to get sushi in all of SLC. My favorites are: 1. Executive 2. Hidden dragon 3. Playboy Seriously. Get these. They are amazing. You will get something between shitty and decent service. But nothing meal ruining.

Love the online ordering for take out. For the price, this place is terrific. I've paid 3x more for equivalent food elsewhere. I had the Cowboy Roll and it was excellent. Super-flavorful and fresh. Not fancy, but quite good. Definitely a great option for a quick, affordable, sushi fix.

This location is much nicer than the one on 30th and state and the service is a ton better. We visit here a few times a month. All the sushi is 50% off the menu price including the sashimi and sushi combinations. The chinese food is about what you'd expect from any of the other area chinese places. The pineapple chicken is fantastic, although it is the typical deep fried chicken bits in sweet sauce. If you're a sushi connoisseur - you're not going to like Ichiban, but if you know what to expect from a place offering 50% off rolls, this is the best of the best.

Food does not taste fresh. Rice is weird. Service is surprisingly fantastic. It's just cheap mediocre sushi.

Great selection and how can you not love 1/2 off rolls? I do the take out frequently and the staff is incredibly friendly.

I am not much of a sushi expert, but the rolls were good. Service was excellent. Just 2 of us and 3 rolls, just around $22. We will go back when we want sushi.

Half off all the sushi. Hidden dragon is a must if you come here. I also recommend the lemon land if you're a fan of salmon. The rolls are a good size and the servers are nice

We love this place. The seating time and service is much quicker than the 33rd south location, the price is great and they have a large selection of sushi rolls. Our favorite is the UU roll. We've never had a roll we don't like here. We typically spend under $30 for two of us to stuff ourselves, so it's even cheaper than all you can eat sushi restaurants and the quality is much better.

Miso was really watered down and bland. It was even the wrong color. The sushi was fine. Not Tsunami quality but not Tsunami price either. The service was actually super quick. I'll go back.

First of all, don't judge how looks on the outside...it's very well decorated when you walk in. Sadly, this is the only thing positive about this place. The sushi rolls were not goo at all....very fishy and smelly. The bathrooms were disgusting and as we walked closer to the kitchen it smelled like mold.

I need to remind myself how not good this sushi is. I've come here 3 times now and always leave saying I'm not ever coming back. The sushi is warm and mediocre at best. The language barrier can complicate orders. The booze is cheap with a small but good selection. The majority of the rolls pictured in the menu are fried and covered in sauce. The veggie rolls are really skimped on the veggies so you're eating majority rice than anything else. If you want to binge on cheap fried sushi come on down! If that sounds absolutely disgusting then let's go somewhere else Ps bathrooms are kinda gross so hold it till you get home

The sushi really is 1 star at best. My review overall is 2 stars due to the nice host/waiter and fast service (then again, looking at the food...it didn't look like it'd need much time & effort...okay, that was a little harsh but not untrue). When I order a chirashi bowl, I expect a variety of fish delicately presented on a bed of sushi rice. On top of that, when it's described as fresh fish in the description, that's what I expect. What I received was a bowl piled high in cold rice drenched in soy sauce with messily arranged random poorly cut shreds of fish, imitation crab, and a shrimp. Needless to say, even at 50% off, this $8.50 bowl was a disgrace. The imitation crab was still frozen with bits of ice and the fish was difficult to eat. The tuna itself tasted bloody and reeked of an irony smell. The salmon (both in the chirashi & sashimi) was cut like uneven shreds and had black dots...it also tasted sour. Overall, the food itself is just ridiculous. Even if I were to be at a friend's party being given food like this, I'd probably throw it away behind his/her back out of respect. To come to a restaurant that has a permanent 50% off deal is skeptical, but this was below acceptable for any food institution. +1 Star: This place has wifi and the password is the same name as the network (Ichibansushiut). +1 Star: Nice host/waiter that brought food out fast -1 Star: Chirashi bowl was disgusting -1 Star: Sashimi was disgusting -1 Star: Fish was sour. SOUR...salmon had black dots and tuna was bloody.

Went there yesterday after a trade show. Almost Everything there are 50% off :) we bought a bottle of sake the waitress hooked us up with a glass of unfiltered sake for free :D waitresses we're very attentive to us. There must b at least 5-7 sushi chef there at the bar so we didn't have to wait long to get our food. This place has good sushi for very affordable price. :D

Cashew chicken lunch special was ok , cream cheese wong tongs were good. Sodas had weird taste. Miso soup was cold. Mars and Vegas roll were pretty good. What isn't going to make us return here would be the fact that when I went to bathroom one of the employees went in as well and she ended up walking out without washing her hands that's was gross. What was worse was when I exited the bathroom she was with the rest of the employees and continued to serve food. We are definitely not coming back.

It may be the time of day that I'm eating here but the service has been on point today. As soon as I stepped into the door there was someone there to seat me. Within the first 5 minutes of being seated I was asked twice if I was ready to order... There was a point where I had to just hurry and pick some stuff off the menu because I was scared the waiter would be back and I still wouldn't have something. The first thing I ordered off the menu was a wonton soup. The soup was less than 2 dollars and it tasted mediocre. The soup was a pretty flavorful broth but the won tons weren't the typical type I have. These were filled with a very authentic beef... Sort of like the ones in dim sum. My first roll was the 101. When I picked up my first piece I noticed it smelt like the inside of an empty shoe box that had been sitting in the garage for 5 years, for those of you who don't know what that smells like than it also can compare to the smell of the plastic that the creepy dolls at dollar stores are made of.... Then I realized it was the chopsticks. It ruined my first impression of the sushi though. I ended up having to hold my breath for every bite because the chopsticks smelt so weird. The 101 roll was my favorite of the two I ordered. Deep fried and crispy but there was a bit of a sour taste that lingers in your mouth after each bite. The second roll I got was the hidden dragon roll. I picked this one because every person that had a review pretty much ordered this roll. I couldn't believe how "on fire" the roll was. I wish I had taken a picture but I was so shocked when the waiter walked up to me with a plate of aluminum foil on fire and as soon as he set the plate down he realized his spoon was on fire too. After spreading out the aluminum foil to reveal the roll in the foil I tried one bite and had a really hard time chewing it. The roll was really soggy and chewy. The eel on the top of the roll had a really soft gelatinous texture and it was really hard to eat. There was way too much sauce in the dish. The roll was drenched in sauce and it was sitting in a pool of sauce too. I ended up leaving half the roll behind because the taste wasn't that great and the texture made it really hard to eat.

After the short-lived buffet joint in the exact same location, a second location of Ichiban sushi opened up here, I believe they are affiliated with the one on 3400 S State St. Rather than putting their name on the sign by the road, they placed "50% off sushi" there. Presumably, they are using the same marketing strategy as restaurants like Yi Sushi. We started with some Tempura Shrimp & Veggie. They were a bit disappointing, from the picture, you can clearly see the thick dough, not a sight of flakiness as should tempura be. Then we got some Nabeyaki Udon, not being a fan of mushrooms and with them overloading it with shiitake mushrooms almost induced a vomit for me after a few sip. For sushi, we got some Spicy Yellowtail and Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. It was quite sad to find out their quality was worse than the hand rolls I had at a local AYCE joint. Rice seems to suffered some serious overly sweetness issue, they might have added sugar into the mix. Other rolls we had were Super Spicy Roll, Caterpillar, and New Volcano, which they all had rice problems. Super Spicy Roll was hardly "Super" in any ways, since they only added more Srirachi on top of the diluted mayo mixed sauce. They got this special featured roll called Hidden Dragon, it arrived flaming wrapped in foil, which should have been highlight of the night, but was quite the contrary. The roll topped with some grossly sour vinegar based sauce, which did not turn out great with the problematic rice, and you end up with a mouthful of inordinately sweetness and sourness. Ichiban means "first" or "number one" in Japanese. I can perfectly see them being first in the mediocre sushi category. "50% off" truly translated to "50% less in quality". Service was not that great, but they just opened. Since sushi generates more profit than buffet in a sense, they will probably stay in business longer than their predecessor had been, and hopefully correct their problems soon...

Sad! So sad. So far downhill so fast. Terrible service, forever to take order.. Longer to get cold food.. And the front staff annoyed to be bothered with work. Only the 90th south location has gone so wrong. We recently visited the downtown location, and they were awesome.

Ichiban Sushi and Asian Cuisine replaced East Buffet not too long ago. (yay! I've heard horror stories) Anyways, great food for the price! Nearly all of the sushi selection is 50% off, making the rolls come out to be $2.50 to $7 per roll. (I think their sashimi/nigiri was a dollar a piece or something, forgot to actually take note). The Spider Roll was not bad, but I would have preferred that there was more soft shell crab. The 101 Roll (deep fried) was delicious. The fish and rice inside pretty much just melted in my mouth. The last roll I got, was the "Hidden Dragon Roll". The main reason being that the menu showed a roll wrapped in tin foil (get it? hidden? haha!). Well apparently, the Hidden Dragon Roll comes with fire, yes, literally fire on the plate. And guess what? It tastes good. I'll definitely be back again if the prices stay the same. They also have Chinese food on their menu, but didn't get a chance to try it. Perhaps next time.

Bad service than the ichiban on the state street. We've been sitting in the restaurant like 25 minutes to waiting for our rolls and they don't have alot of customers but it still took sooo longg for foods coming out
