I've been trying to find REALLY GOOD Thai in Utah. They are definitely hard to find. These guys have handcrafted plates, and the best service. Get the Beef Stew, you won't find a beef stew this good anywhere else in Utah. They are also famous for their Sweet Basil Chicken. Not a necessarily a unique dish for a Thai restaurant, but they way they do it at High Note is something special. The flavoring is balanced so well, it's just tasty. If you want to try a Thai restaurant in Utah that is a notch above the rest, come to High Note.

Ordered take-out and was a bit disappointed, to be honest. The Panang curry was more of a soup consistency, had good heat/spice but I wouldn't consider it a curry by any means. The fried rice had too much salt/soy sauce. The gold bags were tiny and composed mostly of pork, which was also heavily salted. Overall, it was edible but I won't be ordering from this location again. It definitely wasn't worth the money.

Best Thai food in town. Coconut chicken soup was fabulous! High Note Vegetable Curry was the best!! Spring rolls are fried....wouldn't order those again. Everything else was amazing!!

So delicious! The pad Thai was some of the best I have ever had, very authentic! The coconut curry soup was good-the ginger was a little strong, but still yummy. The Vegetable Curry was fantastic as well. I'll be back for sure. Best Thai in the area.

I ordered take out today, and was incredibly unimpressed. I got the Massaman Curry and my girlfriend got Green Curry, neither of which had vegetables that were fully cooked. Nothing quite like biting into a raw potato. The curry was also very watery and not integrated with the the meat or veggies well (which had little flavor). We also got hot and sour soup which was incredibly average. Would not recommend unless you really like raw veggies.

If you wanna have a peaceful talk with your loved ones with good food, think no further. Love the service. I love the way the lady owner treats us every time we go there. V sweet. The food is good, fresh and tasty. I always order cashew nut chicken and its tasty. I don't see why i wouldn't go there again and again.

Love, Love, Love this place!!! It really is the BEST! It's run by a husband and wife. She runs the front end and he runs the kitchen. They are great! The food is amazing! Everything is cooked to order and the veggies are always crisp and just right. All fried items like the spring rolls and Goldbags come out so crispy and hot. Since it is just the two of them running the restaurant the service can be a bit slower if the place is busy. It's well worth the wait!

Great Thai food! Little mom and pop Thai restaurant. The food is fresh, light and delicious! Best thing about it, it's not Americanized. It's our favorite Thai restaurant my wife and I eat at.

Wow, super nice folks! The highnote chicken fried rice and coconut/chicken soup were excellent. LOVED the coconut ice cream and mango sticky rice. Also very enjoyable, not too sweet thai iced tea. Awesome stir fried noodles drunken style and spicy potstickers. Everything was decently spicy and flavorful I love everything, basically. I think this is a rock solid place who really values your business. We got take out on valentines near closing time and it really made our day.

Fresh and delicious! The chicken coconut soup was a hit, so hot and tasty. The curry was spicy and very very good. Saturday night and got right in, no wait and totally worth it. Pad tai was really good too. Definitely will be back!

You wanna like this place, they really try to please and the menu looks promising but where people are raving about best Thai food ever, they don't get out much. We started with chicken satay which was the strangest satay I've ever had. Generous, almost too thick skewers of chicken grilled in olive oil (proudly touted on the menu that they only use olive oil) served with a side of sticky rice and the oddest peanut sauce I can imagine. This stuff was thickened with corn starch or something that made it a gloppy, somewhat peanutty flavored goo. The whole dish was exceptionally bland although very hot and freshly cooked. Next came Pad Thai and Kuai-Tiao Phat Khi Mao, again freshly prepared but bland as can be. One was ordered mild, the other medium hot so it wasn't bland from lack of spice, it was bland from lack of understanding how to make good Thai food. Desserts were the bright spot. The cocoanut ice cream was perfectly made and fresh and the mango with rice was tasty and a nice contrast of fresh mango with warm rice pudding. The service was a standout. A very sweet and attentive lady who was constantly busy cleaning and fussing and seemed to really care that we were there and happy. If only she had more flavorful food to serve.

I have just recently started trying new food and once i tried Thai i realized it was amazing! I pass this place on the way to my parents and have gotten take out many times and even ordered a meal for my dad (very picky) and he was very impressed. I have never been dissapointed when eating here.

Not too long ago, Highnote got some new digs at 80th and 700 East. It's a big tile building kitty corner from Union Middle School with parking around back. The new place is nice, if not a little awkward in its layout. Park behind the building, walk up front, and head in. The main dining area is to the left, the counter and another small space to the right. Inside the decor is splashed with a few Thai accents, but also has chrome tread plate. A little weird, but since you're not really after fine dining here (read: flat screen in the dining room) you can chalk it up to personality in your local Thai joint. We started off with a little Tom Khaa Kai soup. For the size of the cup it was a little steep in price, but that's a darn tasty soup. This had a little kick, a little burn, and that was very welcome. We also had a few spring rolls--these are the deep fried variety--and they were solid. I decided to go with the Kuai-Tiao Phat Khi Mao (described at stir fried-noodles with veggies served drunken style). It was okay. Decent flavor, but light on the noodles. They were plenty generous with the chicken. The veggies, noodles, and meat never really melded into one cohesive dish, but I can't find fault in any of the components. Nice taste, decent portions. There are a ton of Thai places in SLC, so it's really tough to circle back around. However, next time I'm here I think I'm going with a curry. I'll also see about hitting lunchtime prices and portions.

This is my entire family's favorite restaurant, we love it! The hostess/waitress and chef, who are also the owners, are superb. I have gluten and dairy allergies and they are great at making accommodations for that. The thai iced tea is popular with my family, we get it with coconut milk instead of sweetened condensed milk - it is soooo good. We have never had an issue with any of the food, it is all made fresh and is delicious. It can be a bit on the spicy side so you have to tell them if you like it mild. Patience is also required since the owners are the only 2 employees usually. Some of our favorites are the chicken satay, pad thai, veggie curry, pad prah ram (I think that's how it's spelled?). But I don't think you can go wrong. Try it, you won't regret it!

I had a lunch special veggie highnote curry with brown rice. This is very good. Thai ice tea with less sweetness is also awesome. Ambience is decent. Only thing I did not like is they give spring roll instead of soup as part of lunch special and they don't substitute - which is different from other Thai restaurants I have been to.

Needed a quick place close to home, and went here based in being tired of everything else near by. I was a bit nervous walking in, the interior layout is odd, but nothing to overly complain about, the place was deserted, so was not quite sure what we were in for. We started out with the gold bags, a delightful little appetizer, followed up with some chicken/coconut soup and chicken stir fry. The flavors were crisp and the food was extremely fresh. When we walked in on a weeknight, the place was deserted so I wasn't sure how good it would be. People must pass right by without noticing it because the food was definitely top notch. Hopefully their new location which is under construction will give them some more visibility because I'd hate for this place to go out of business. They have all the usual Thai fare, but what impressed me was the freshness and the amount of veggies included in the dishes as well as the how everything was cooked. It seemed perfectly executed from the meats and tofu to the noodles, rice, and veggies. It's good to have a solid locally owned restaurant like this one in Sandy.

I live nearby and if you get a few people together, this is a great place to come and try all the currys. It's amazingly good. Love the green and massaman curry. You will not be dissapointed. Cheap too. The main quiet old lady waitress is the wife of the chef.

    (4)
  • Laura A.

Worst experience ever. Given, the food was good. I loved the curry chicken dish I got. We were having dinner with an old friend and her child. I'm sure many a restaurant owner has wanted to yell at an "out of control" child...but you never do it, no matter what. Unless you are the owner of Highnote Thai Cuisine. While the 2 year old threw a tantrum, the owner got down on the floor and screamed at our friends child, I mean CRAZY screamed. It was pretty scary. I asked for my money back, and the lady owner obliged. I would not consider this a family-friendly joint.

Highnote's Thai fare and it's lovely staff are just two of the reasons that I return again and again to this neighborhood favorite. I would probably choose take-out over sitting in, making it a trusty weeknight go-to. Their curries are fantastic, but the fried rice is really over the top. Surprisingly good ethnic flavor for Utah - give them a try!

the service was great, They had a lot of tables but handled the crowd nicely. The only reason for the three stars is that I feel the food was bland. I had the pad thai. I think its a nice place but I will probably keep looking.

Ate at Highnote for lunch today. My friends and I shared the massaman curry, pad Thai, and the highnote fried rice. Mango sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious and the server (I believe the wife of the couple) was courteous and sweet. Happy to have found a Thai place on Sandy!

Easily the best Thai food I've found in Utah. The food is fantastic, very reasonably priced and the husband and wife owners couldn't be nicer or more appreciative of your business. A few of my favorite items on the menu: Red Curry (a bit spicy but excellent), Pork Fried Rice (not your typical fried rice dish, trust me on this one), Pad Si-Ew and Papaya Salad. All of these dishes are fantastic and in my constant rotation of takeout items. Downside of Highnote is that the decor is lacking and they don't have a liquor license. But for a low-key dining experience or takeout, I have yet to find a better Thai food option anywhere in the state.

Good lunch specials with fair prices. The food and service was great and the interior was well decorated. The only thing I didn't like was the height of the ceiling and the openness of the place but other than that it was great. I would definitely go back.

I live nearby and if you get a few people together, this is a great place to come and try all the currys. It's amazingly good. Love the green and massaman curry. You will not be dissapointed. Cheap too. The main quiet old lady waitress is the wife of the chef.

I will definitely return. The staff was charming and the beef curry delightful. No beer or wine but hey, that's Salt Lake City for you.

Great Thai food! Little mom and pop Thai restaurant. The food is fresh, light and delicious! Best thing about it, it's not Americanized. It's our favorite Thai restaurant my wife and I eat at.
