Decent Japanese, really covers all bases for a Japanese restaurant. I'd been looking for a decent Japanese restaurant in the area since being let down by Tsunami across the freeway and decided this is the best in the general area. Most Japanese restaurants focus on one type of restaurant but Fuji packs them all into one. They have a Teppanyaki area for the "Dinner and a Show" style cooking. The basic dine in restaurant with a variety of Japanese dishes. And a Sushi bar for getting some sushi. While I wouldn't say they excel at any one type of dining it's nice to have the variety and choice. I usually stop in for the bento box, for a quick lunch, variety of food, and all for a decent price. The included California rolls are nice as they're not all rice and nothing else; and the salmon teriyaki was good. The service is also good and attentive; although the Japanese girls serving seem a bit shy they do their job well. I don't think I'd drive across the valley just to go here but when in the area it's a great place to get some Japanese food.

Nothing here was bad, but nothing stood out as being great, either. I had the tempura entree as I wasn't in the mood for sushi. The batter was good (fairly light and cripsy) but the veggie selection just wasn't as good as I would have liked. The chicken and scallops were good though. I enjoyed the fried rice, but the Udon Noodle soup that my wife had seemed average as well. Like I said, nothing was bad, but nothing was good enough to make me want to run back for more.

Buy 3 rolls get 1 free. Average place, kinda run down atmosphere. Also does Tempanyaki. Hubby and I have been going here for a couple years, amongst others.

If you came here when this place opened I recommend you try it again so much has changed and it is my top 5 sushi joints in salt lake city. Perfect atmosphere and food is authentic!

Fuji is my favorite place to get sushi! My favorite rolls are the dancing dragon, and the volcano. The service is great and the atmosphere is also great. I've never been disappointed with the rolls I've gotten here. We also love the hibachi grills and the cooks are awesome. This is a must for any one that loves sushi!

It's times like this I really wish Yelp had a negative-star rating, because I'd be putting it to some great use right now. Our experience at Fuji was all-around horrific. We arrived just prior to a huge dinner rush, and were seated at a community table - even though we were ordering strictly off the sushi menu and there seemed to be plenty of small-party tables available. We inquired, but there was no explanation, just the hostess pointing at the seats she had taken us to. Okay. We ordered a sashimi appetizer. Our table neighbors ordered no appetizers. They delivered our sashimi to them. Neighbors questioned the delivery, and the staffer didn't even respond. We didn't want to be rude to our neighbors, so we awaited the staffer's return before dealing with the sitch. In the meantime, our innocent neighbors had eaten about 1/3 of the sashimi. Finally, the server returned, and we asked about our sashimi appetizer. He looked around madly, his gaze landing on our neighbor's sashimi. He then promptly removed it from their space and added it to ours without a word. Wha wha WHA? We were struck dumb, and unable to snag him before he took off again. We handed it back to our poor confused neighbors to finish. When the waiter returned, we explained that what he did was not acceptable, and we would like either a replacement sashimi, or for it to be removed from our check. It seemed like he understood... The sushi selection was decent. I wish I could say the same for the sushi. It barely qualified as mediocre. We had a coupon for one free sushi roll with the purchase of another. Prior to ordering, we showed it to the waiter because we needed clarification on which rolls were included. He pointed them out. This was the first time we've left pieces of sushi on the plate without being way too full to finish them. Nope. Not too full. When the check came, we thought it was a joke and seriously looked around for the hidden cameras. It not only included the appetizer we technically never got, but also included TWO rolls and FOUR drinks we didn't even order, and NO credit for our "free" roll. It took our server 20 minutes to reappear allowing us to request a correction. Some time later, he brought the "corrected" check, which was mostly correct. Still no credit for the advertised free roll. Upon inquiring, we were told that they refused to honor it. No valid or discernable reason, mind you. Just nope, not going to honor it...tonight? For you guys? Who knows... It truly felt like we were being paroled when we begrudgingly paid the bill and got the hell outta Fuji, never to return. Sit in the corner, bad Fuji! Tsk tsk! P.S. - Do NOT confuse this place with Mt. Fuji Sushi which is located on 13th East. They're NOT the same.

If you are in the area and want a great lunch for $8 this is the place for you. A great amount of food and they are usually really quick so you can get back to work quickly! Dinner is great too if you like the hibachi experience. It's the same price as all of its competitors but never as busy so you can always get a table. I am obsessed with their salmon and love their California rolls.

Fuji... you keep us entertained, you silly old bastard! My friends and I come here pretty often as it's located right down the street from the house where we meet up. Each time we've been, it gets pretty rowdy! However, I think it's mostly due to the company I'm with. We always roll up in a huge group and we always start the meal off with more than a few sake bombs. At this point, I'm sure it's easy for the chef to impress us. And the chefs play along without fail... they're good sports. We usually order both hibachi and sushi amongst our group of friends so we always sit at a hibachi table. The chefs are your typical hibachi chefs with the same old tricks, except for one (extremely fun and obscenely popular with my friends) "move" that they pull. They squirt sake in your mouth from a squirt bottle! How can this be legal? It's probably not. However, it's a huge hit! Kudos, Fuji, for not playing by the rules. The sushi is usually pretty good. No complaints. I always order the Dancing Dragon and it's always yummy. The fish is fairly fresh. The gyoza is pan seared (the correct way!) The hibachi is well cooked. My friends are obsessed with the side salad that comes with any hibachi meal. Overall, I give this place 3 stars for food. Still, I think the highlight of every visit is the hibachi chefs. They know how to have a good time and they always accommodate our obnoxious group with flying colors.

My wife and I used to go here 3-4 times a month. We had a horrible experience last night and will take our business elsewhere. Service was horrible as we sat waiting for our server to take our drink order for over 25 minutes and waiting an additional 20 minutes before placing our dinner order. Don't even try asking to speak to a manager. Our appetizer was cold and delivered well after our dinner had been prepared. To top it off, our check had several items that we did not order including additional drinks that we probably would have ordered if our server had bothered to stop by.

Great all around sushi place. We got several rolls and the sexy beach was the favorite. The tempura chicken strips were spot on. Maybe a little on the pricey side, but that IS sushi. They also have a grill side, where you can sit around the chef as they prepare your food, but we stayed at the tables. A great idea for another night.

Just came back from this place. It was quite possibly, no, actually the worst sushi I've ever tasted. The sushi at the local supermarket is better than this place. Bait shops are better than this place. I sat at the bar and asked the sushi chef what they had tonight. He mumbled some inaudible nonsense. I was able to make out 'yellowtail' so I place one order of hamachi. Well, I've never had one piece of sushi in an order. I've always had two pieces. Maybe this is a Salt Lake Shitty thing. It looks okay so I take a bite. The friggin' thing is still frozen inside! I just paid $3 for one piece of frozen fish. He asks if I want something else. I ask for the check and get the hell out of there as soon as I finish my sake.

I cannot believe I spent $30 at this place for dinner. All I had was green tea, one sushi roll, two pieces of sashimi, and one dessert. Thirty dollars! And the sushi was of mediocre quality. The only reason I am elevating it from 2 stars to 3 is because the service was good there. The decor is very pleasant. My co-worker was smart enough to stay away from the raw stuff and ordered a pleasant smelling teriyaki. Also, half of the restaurant was geared toward Japanese steak - and since I didn't try that yet, it seems un-nice to bring my snooty West Coast sushi sensibilities to a nice little SLC restaurant that is trying very hard. Also, I recommend the fried ice cream. They use cake instead of the usual dough flour stuff - and that makes it all the more tasty!

Service was prompt (I was the only diner) but I would have preferred if the several remaining waiters had congregated in the back to talk instead of right by the sushi bar. The nigiri sushi was alright. I've had better quality salmon. The mackerel was good. The miso soup was terrible, unfortunately. It had absolutely no flavor and a pitiful amount of tofu in it. For the price, it's really not worth visiting in my opinion.

I stayed in Sandy, UT for business a couple of nights. So yeah, I had a hard time figuring out where to eat. Sandy's full of chain restaurants and the Chic-Fil-A was closed on Sunday. Then I found Fuji online. So I drove down and ordered some stuff to go. I ordered the salmon teriyaki and a shrimp tempura roll, pretty safe choices in my book. It was surprisingly good! So I went back the second night with some people from work and we had a bunch of different sushi rolls and they were all pretty good. The only weird thing was that the waitress came by to ask if we wanted more beer like every 30 seconds. I swear to God, she kept asking. Oh well, I guess they weren't that busy. Anyways, Fuji's a good choice for Asian food if you ever find yourself fortunate enough to stay in Sandy, Utah for business.

Service was very nice. Seaweed salad was delicious with a few extra things in it. Sushi and sashimi reasonably priced but not the best in the west.

When I go to Fuji i have the habatchi style cooking. You get some great food and an entertaining show. If you go for lunch you can get it for 6.99 and for diner it 10.99 before 6. You get fried rice, vegetables, and a choice of meat. The steak is great. This takes a while so if you are in a hurry then this might not be the good choice for you. Especially if you have a big group.

My husband's teriyaki seafood ($28) was good. The yaki udon ($13) was a tasteless glop with 4 mushrooms, a little napa cabbage and some chewy chicken. The salad was a few over-sized pieces of lettuce with one half a tomato slice and one cucumber slice. The miso had a four or five pieces of tofu floating in it. The sushi was beautiful. We had no less than three waitresses serve us in a confused series of oddly slow service. And there was a tv showing a baseball game. A tv. When you walk in you are asked to choose which part of the restaurant you want. If I ever go back, I'll choose the hibachi side. Maybe it's better.

We really enjoyed their sushi. We are definitely going back. Also, they have 20% off your entire order until March 15! I read another post and it said they couldn't serve alcohol yet, but last night I had no problem getting a Kirin. The service was very good too. My honey and I ordered the sweatheart roll and the sushi was in shapes of hearts and had a blue light in the center of the plate. Something different, good detail. Next time we'll try to steak side of the restaurant.

This place is awesome!!! everything i have eaten has been exceptional. We even went 2 nights in a row to bring our family there after my wife and i ate there the night before. Very fresh california rolls with fresh cucumbers and non of that mayo mix crab meat, it's a solid chunk! They have amazing noodle bowls also!!! go there, it's easily missed so be careful, it's a definite must.

I've eaten at every Sushi place in the valley. I didn't think I'd find a place better than any of the "good" sushi places that are around town. I was very surprised to find this restaurant to be the best I've had. Even though the chef is named Ivan, and he doesn't really communicate well in English (he also seems very shy) he made some dishes that were the best I've had anywhere including Hawaii. The jalapeno yellow tail was beautifully presented and was spectacular. Live oysters were sublime. The "mountain fuji" roll was full of a variety of subtle flavors. Take the time to ask ivan what is fresh or what is good and you might avoid the experience of the 1 star diner...I think he should give it a second chance...had. There is one waitress that seems to be a bear pusher though, the rest of the wait staff were quite acceptable. All of this and the fact that the most expensive roll is 12 dollars and you have a winning combination. I haven't tried the non-sushi items on the menu so this is limited in scope but it will be along time before I get tired of the suhi and try something else!

Ya'll ready for story time? Because this review will be a story, whether a good one or not, you can decide at the end. I had been to Fuji before and had an alright experience so we decided to go back. Note: I like to give 5 stars and take away as I deem appropriate. Tonight, we went for just the sushi for my cousin's birthday. Also, we made a reservation for six on the non-habachi side and our table was promptly ready for us when we arrived. -1 The wait. Despite getting seated promptly, our server was quite overwhelmed. He had a lot of tables and it took a long time from the time we sat to the time we finally got to order. I had mentioned we were ready to order when he brought drinks but he left and didn't come back for a long time. Afterwards, we learned they only had one sushi chef. One! On a Saturday night! I didn't understand. We waited incredibly long for our food and we were still missing a soup. -1 Forgetfulness. Speaking of missing a soup... Our server was forgetful. I can usually dismiss this because I once was a server. However, when we began to order we made sure to drill in to him that my sister has an allergy to avocados so we can't have any in any of the sushi rolls. Yes. He did forget and the first two rolls came out with avocado on them. -1 Lack of understanding seriousness of food allergies. We told him and he took it back. Sadly, all they did was remove the avocado on the rolls they had originally brought out. I'm not sure why they didn't think we would notice. Avocado is mushy. Some of it was still left on top of the roll. IT'S A FOOD ALLERGY. NOT A PREFERENCE. Need I say more? -1 Yes. I need to say more. The next plate that came out had two rolls on it and as the server sets it down, we ask no avocado, right!? He say yes. We each go in for a piece and sure enough, there's avocado. He server finally says okay we will remake this one. We sat in front of the sushi chef and I watch as his shook his head in irritation when the server asked him to remake the roll. We kept a menu to order more rolls as we went but decided not to after waiting so long for what we had ordered. Not only my poor little sister was still hungry since she couldn't touch much of the sushi, we all were feeling a bit empty. Even after the $109 worth of food we ordered. The six of us rode in three cars. After leaving Fuji, one car stopped at the Taco Bell, conveniently right there. One, us, stopped at McDonald's. And the other said he's cruising State St. trying to decide what to get. I hope he's found something by now. I'm so sad we experienced this because the food was actually pretty damn good. But we won't be returning. I don't want to stick an epipen in my sister anytime soon.

We are able to get here only once a month but it is the only Sushi we go to in Salt Lake Valley. The only negative about Fuji is that the food is so good it is too crowded on certain nights. So, if you only have 30 minutes for dinner then getting made to order Sushi this good is not going to work. The Sushi Chef is trained in the orient and is truly an artist. Ask for Ava and tell her you know Marc and May and you will feel like family immediately. Dang, now I'm hungry!

I tried the sushi... we bought 3 and we get one free. Truthfully, the "Dragon" is one of the worst sushi that I've ever tried, too much cucumber and eel sauce without the eel/unagi, very disappointing. We tried Mt Fuji sushi... too much rice without enough fish... horrible. The crunchy and "sexy beach" sushi are just OK. We may try their hibachi next time, but not the sushi...

Best value if you are wanting teppanyaki style. Lunch special of only $8 with choice of chicken, steak, shrimp or salmon. Comes with soup and white rice. I personally like their salmon especially with the seafood sauce. Upgrade to $11 and you get 2 choices. The sushi is mediocre, but come here for the hibachi lunch or dinner.

This review is for the sushi and non hibachi side of the restaurant. Our group ordered a variety of sushi rolls and bento boxes to share. Nothing to complain about the sushi, it's moderately priced and just your average rolls, done just right enough to satiate those cravings. The bento boxes were tasty as well, good meats and salmon served with rice, tempura, salad, and miso. Why the 3 stars? The service was slow. Albeit it was a Saturday night, it took about 15-20 minutes to get the server's attention that we were ready to order. Also, 6 out of the 7 in our party got our food and the last person had to wait patiently for 20 minutes for his sushi to arrive after all our food was served. Overall, a good place to get our sushi fix if we are in the area but would not go out of way to dine here.

Utah isn't exactly know for their sushi/seafood thanks to it being a landlocked state, however, after eating here, I feel as though maybe it should! My mother and I ordered lots of menu items, but because of our food intolerances/allergies/preferences, we had to modify pretty much all of them... However our waitress didn't even flinch! She was so accommodating and complimentary, I almost wanted to invite her to sit down with us! The sashimi deluxe was filled with juicy, thick pieces of fish (they even included EEL!), the tuna tataki wear seared to perfection, the salmon skin hand rolls..... I ordered 7, which obviously means I was a big fan, and the low carb cucumber wrapped sushi (yellowtail and avocado) was melt in your mouth delicious, that we had to order another one! If I ever come back to Sandy, UT, this sushi restaurant will CERTAINLY be on my "to eat at" list! I'm officially a new fan! Just Keep Swimming Mt Fuji Japanese Steakhouse, JUST KEEP SWIMMING! I kind of want to get some to go for the airplane........

Change it up with hibachi style Japanese cooking. this local Japanese restaurant gives you a great value. We like to go there for the early bird special. Before 6 o'clock you can enjoy the hibachi dinner for $12.99. That means soup, salad and the main course cooked tableside. You get a full blown chef show, juggling knives, flaming onions and maybe get a piece of shrimp tossed across the room for you to catch with your mouth. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are good plus you watch them prepare your meal tableside. The service was excellent and the waitstaff was attentive filling our drinks on a regular basis. They also have a sushi bar that seems quite appealing. I haven't tried it yet but the prices are reasonable and I'll give it a try. Take the opportunity to break away from the national chain restaurants. Give Fuji a try. Salute!

We love to come for the hibachi dinners. It's a lot of fun to watch the show as dinner is cooked. That being said, the food is good, pretty average. They do steak pretty well, but the chicken and fish tend to get overlooked. The calamari is not as good as most, but I do like the sauce. Our biggest disappointment is that they charge now for fried rice, where it used to be part of the meal. White rice is still part of the meal; fried rice is a $2 up charge per order. Pretty steep IMHO. We will probably only come once a year from now on. My 10-year-old loves coming for his birthday.

Ahhhhh sushiii! If I had a love, this would be it. I would celebrate anniversaries with it by getting some fresh Yellowtail. We would cap a movie and dinner with a lobster night cap. It would be a healthy yet destructive relationship because I would end up getting fat. All jokes aside, Fuji Japanese Steakhouse is good for its sushi. Not so much for its lunch/dinner specials. I feel they add a bit too much oil to the foods and the fire for the tepanyaki is way too hot. I was already dark enough, I think I got darker with all the oils in my face. But, thats a Tepanyaki place for you. I also docked it a couple of stars because of the inconsistent quality. Sometimes, I have come and the sushi is mind blowing. Or, I get home and I am like I need to go back ASAP. But, sometimes for birthday dinners or lunch, I am left unsatisfied with the taste and freshness of the sushi. But why you ask, am I complaining over fresh Sushi in Salt Lake? Its because they do have fresh sushi some days of the week. I just need to find out which days? Until then, I guess I am coming back?!? Tips: Order sex on the beach roll (its fantasia)

Simple review, the food is good but the service is not. If your patient give it a shot. We were seated and it took over 10 minutes to order. My meal came out in three different sections with my rolls first, appetizer 2nd and fried rice at the end of the meal. Two servers were coming by without talking to eachother.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here for my dad. The staff was incredible, charming personable and attentive. Our food was delicious, we were 5 but got 4 entrees at the Hibachi. We had filet which was tender and delicious and cooked perfectly and then the calamari shrimp which was great. We brought in our own wine and the corkage fee was so reasonable, only $5.00. Loved the veggies, noodles and rice. All good flavors and fun watching them put on the cooking show.

We decided to try this place after hearing they were pretty good. My husband and I sat at a hibachi table and had the waiter quickly take our drink and sushi order. Once our drinks came, he took our order for the hibachi grill. The chef was good and entertaining as was the food we got from the grill. I had shrimp and scallops and my husband had the steak and shrimp. We really enjoyed this and the vegetable variety they offered compared to some of the other hibachi places. Now for the bad part. Once we ordered it was impossible to get the waiter back over, the place was not that busy so I feel we should have been able to have better service. We also ordered our sushi before our meal and never got it till we were done. We also eat sushi a lot and were very disappointed with the sushi. We left most of it there. This is not a place I plan to visit again.

Drove 13 miles to go for a nice hibachi dinner and boy was disappointed: 1. There was no hostess... It took 10 min until the waiter seated us 2. The waiter seated us on a table opposite from a full table (it was one of those 2 hibachis, 1 cook in the middle, or a big U shape) 3. To our surprise they took our order and the cook cooked the entire time with his back to us 4. The cook pretended to throw an egg at my daughter...she is only 3 and was deeply upset 5. The cook was tossing shrimps so people could catch with their mouth, my wife is highly allergic and despite saying no SEVERAL times he still did it 6. I ordered the calamari and chicken from hibachi menu.. The calamari was previously deep fried and the cook tossed some sauce and served it to me... It was extremely chewy 7. We had to ask the servers several time for water 8. My wife ordered the filet mignon and it was barely 4 oz I am not from the Salt Lake City area but HIGHLY recommend you to avoid this place... Service is not there

Came here for a girls lunch with a friend and we got to watch the hibachi show. I got the chicken lunch box special, which came with a salad, soup, 2 potstickers, a California roll, rice, and chicken teriyaki. It was pretty good, but nothing amazing. The potstickers were tasty and I really liked the sticky rice. The salad was drenched in dressing though, not good. The chicken was kind of rubbery and bland. The California roll was good,a little heavy on the cucumber though. I also tried the steak Hibachi and that was pretty decent. The fried rice and veggies were really good, the steak was good, but not the nicest cut off meat, a little on the fatty side. It was fun to see our food cooked in front of us, but I feel like the other Hibachi grills I've been too had a bit more theatrics, tossing food around and whatnot. Service was just okay, had to flag someone down to get more water and no one ever asked if we were doing okay or needed anything. Overall, everything was just okay, maybe I'd give them another try in the future.

Went here for a birthday celebration. It was pretty good! It's always fun to go to a hibachi style restaurant and get to watch the show with the flames and the chef tossing knives around without chopping a finger off. However, usually I leave those types of places thinking the show was better than the meal. Not here! The food was very good. I had fried rice that was perfection, along with the hibachi style vegetables. The soup and salad that came before were very tasty but not filling, so there was still room to enjoy the main course. Other members of our party had steak, shrimp, and chicken, and they were all very flavorful. Service was good, waitress was attentive, and everyone left happy. Overall, this is a hidden gem in the Sandy/Draper area, where dining options are limited to chain restaurants and buffets. It's nice to have something different! I will be back. Tip- if going with a large group, call ahead to ensure you will be able to sit near a grill.

I've tried pretty much every sushi joint I could find in South Jordan and Fuji has been the best so far. I really like the sexy beach roll, dancing dragon roll, and the mt. fuji roll. These special rolls range from about $9 to $14 but Fuji has a buy 3 get 1 free deal so my friend and I always split 4 rolls and it comes out to about $18 per person. I have also tried their hibachi lunch special with chicken and calamari and I thought the meal was tasty and fun! It was perfect for a birthday celebration! I did have to take off one star because I had trouble with their to go service a few times. One time, they didn't answer the phone for the longest time and when they did, the guy told me that they were really busy and wanted me to call back in 15 minutes. I did and there was again no answer. It took me about an hour to finally be able to put an order in. Another time, my friend and I were told it would take 20 min for our order to be ready so we show up after 20 minutes and they haven't even started making our rolls so we had to wait around for another half an hour. We usually only call in these to go orders during our test weeks (which means we were on a time crunch) so we were not happy campers. So now, instead of picking up our food at the time they specified, we call them and see if it's ready before we head out and it has worked out so far.

D.E.licious! We enjoyed a birthday celebration here and I tried my family's plates as well. The shrimp, filet minon, shrimp, chicken and salmon were all great. The seafood wasn't fishy at all and the texture in everything was amazing. The shrimp was my favorite. The salad was better than other places but the miso soup wasn't as good as other countries places. Also had a crunch roll and it was maybe the best I've ever had. Veggies and fried rice also delish . Definitely would come again. Also our cook was the most entertaining I've seen. Price was great imo especially for hibachi. 4 adults with combination meals, sodas and an appetizer was just over 100

What's good about this place? It's cheap teppan for lunch at $7.99 for fried rice, veggies, and your choice of meat: chicken, ny steak, shrimp, or salmon all cooked in front of you. You also get a show with it. The cooks are always really friendly and entertaining. It totally beats fast food for about the same price. What's bad is that it can take a long time sometimes since they like to fill up the table before they start cooking, so if you're in a rush for lunch or really hungry I dont recommend coming here. They also have a sushi special on rolls which is buy three get one free which averages out to be normal price for sushi rolls maybe a little cheaper. Overall, it's not 5 star food but it's a good bang for your buck for lunch

This place wasn't bad. My friend's little sister loves that they cook in front of you so we came here. I ordered all sushi though. Guess I'm lame. I started off by asking the chef how long he's been cooking and he responded "I start cooking now." So there's a definite language barrier. Unless that was literally the first meal he's cooked. Who knows. It was fun, entertaining, service was good. No complaints. Except for when I got tired and laid my head down on the grill for a second. That sucked.

I have been going here for a year or so and they used to have great lunch specials ... But now they have "trimmed the fat" and charge for fried rice. White rice is free with meal but they will forget to bring it to you until you ask for it! So the lunch special is really not that special as far as price goes. That would be my only negative here and why I did not give them a 5 star. But as far as the food goes and the chef go, this place is great! The chefs are always fun and try hard. But it is all about the food, I have tried everything off the grill and I can't think of anything that does not taste great. Like the gyoza and edamame are great starters too. I have heard the sushi tools are pretty good, but I don't do sushi so .... As far as tepanyaki service and food goes, this is the best for the price. And i have never had to wait a long time. So check it out.

Long wait. The food quality was low and had to wait for 40 minutes for food to arrive at the table. No drink refills. The vegetables were mush. Not a great experience and highly overpriced for the quality of food and service.

Fun place to eat if you don't mind waiting for a bit to get your belly full. The family loves the hibachi grill and pyrotechnics. Chicken and steak were cooked perfectly and the wife loved her shrimp. We will go again!

We have eaten at Fuji countless times over the past four years or so. Our kids loooove the hibachi meals & beg to eat here. If you like hibachi Fuji is definitely worth trying during their lunch and dinner specials. I think lunch is $7.99 for soup & hibachi meal. This used to include hibachi (fried) rice, but much to our dismay the last time we went they had started charging $2 extra for hibachi rice instead of white rice. Hibachi rice is a must, so this hikes the price of your tab considerably when you go out as a family. We will be going less often because of this. I want to say the dinner special is $10.99 if you are seated before 6:00 & includes salad and soup. Don't forget $2 extra for hibachi rice. The Hibachi food is good but can be inconsistent. We have ordered sushi several times & we like their buy three rolls, get one free special. Most of the time their sushi is solidly good. Every now & then it tastes less fresh & just isn't as good. All in all though, I like their sushi & it's a good place to enjoy a meal as a family. Service is inconsistent as well, but we have only had flat out bad service once. We love Ava!! She's the sweetest server.

This place would get 4 stars, but every time I come in is A different experience. I've a great time, with good food and drinks and then the next time it's like the server is lost. The crazy tuna roll and the rose are my favorites. Great flavors and the presentation is beautiful. Not a very deep sake selection, but it's Utah, sooooo....

Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Had the Sashimi lunch special. It came with 9 pieces of fresh sashimi... 3 salmon, 3 tuna, 3 hamachi. Each piece was sizable and fresh. The miso soup left something to be desired, but was not horrible.

I love this place. We go here on celebratory occasions mostly. We would rather go here than Benihana any day! The hibachi is great and the price is even better. Our most recent visit was New Year's Day. My favorite is the steak and shrimp with hibachi fried rice. Our chef was very skilled and had a great sense of humor. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of the wait. But just don't go if you are in a hurry and you'll be fine. It's worth the wait.

Food was ok. But the place was almost empty, and it still had to sit and wait for over 30 between the salad and entree. Aged tofu tasted like nothing.

Meh.... Not bad and not great. Just an ok strip mall experience. Friendly servers and ok food. The Asahi beer was nice and cold which is a plus. Not much else to say about this place.

My boyfriend and I come here couple times for last 3 years. It is kind going downhill. We always liked to come get the lunch combo here and it is only $10. our favorite is the salmon. Service and food were ok in beginning. Later on, the salmon is getting smaller and smaller. Service is getting worst too. Last time, we ordered some lunch combos and fried banana ice cream for to go. We appreciate if you got everything ready when we got there but the ice cream. Common sense: ice cream will melt if you put it together with the hot food. Hot fried bananas right on top of ice cream basically melted all the ice cream. We noticed the ice cream was on top of food but we didn't want to complain because the lady had thick accent and having hard time understanding us. When we got home, the dessert became banana ice cream soup and it was all over the bag. Sigh....maybe better luck next time.

Was good. Sushi was great! Love the salad and wish I knew how to make the dressing! Got a bento box and it was delicious. Usually go to these places to have a show performed but didn't this time and it was still nice. The only thing wrong was the pepsi was super flat. Will be back!

I'm giving them 5 stars because they did a fantastic job catering a bridal shower. The staff is friendly and helped out a lot with the menu. The guests loved the food and commented on how beautiful it looked too. I will absolutely go back to Fuji every time I'm in need of sushi catering.

We visited this place a few times, the overall experience had been average in general, and there are definitely some hits and misses. The restaurant is divided into a Teppanyaki (not Hibachi, very common misused term) section, and a sushi section. I never tried the Tepanyaki side, so this is only for the sushi. We usually start with tempura here, and they are actually larger and tastier than most places. The rolls are mediocre, and there were not any innovative design or special worth mentioning. I actually like how they plated by the sashimi like a flower garden, but the quality of fishes did not live up to the look. They were not fresh and definitely frozen then defrosted fishes. The waitress informed us that they actually get the fish from a nearby Asian market, which shipped frozen from the coastal states. The service had been fairly consistence on the good side, but the fish quality is just not quite there. Overall, Fuji could be a great place to dine if they can get better fish, but I do not think that will ever happen.

I've been here many times for lunch and dinner and have always have had a good tines and I feel that the service and food is better than the chain places like bennihana. They are quick portion size is great for the price and the chefs are friendly

Yelp's location of this place is incorrect, I've submitted correction, but until that goes through it's actually north of the Chinese place, way in the back of the small strip mall. So this is Beni-Hana lite. A million of these types of places are dotted across the United States, and I try to eat at every single one that I run across. First for the positives, the lunch and dinner specials are both great prices. You can't get much better, even going to fast food. Unfortunately, the food and service aren't really much to talk about. If you've never seen the grill show of slapping spatulas around and lighting things on fire, then it's worth it for the novelty. On the food front, the sushi was universally boring, made wrong, or plain just not that good. Granted, this place is a few hundred miles from the nearest ocean so freshness suffers slightly. I realize that correctly made sushi rice is an art form, but it doesn't even seem like they try here. But it's also little things like a lack of correct ingredients in certain rolls. The hibachi side is "eh." Obviously due to low quality ingredients, but again at the price point I can't really complain much. Both times I ordered it, the chicken came out luke warm and chewy. The steak was better, but only because I upgraded to the Filet. The Miso soup is obviously just chicken stock with a few dried mushrooms thrown in it. It was tasty, but disappointing if you were looking for the miso. The salad was drowned in the ginger dressing, even after trying to mix it up better. The worse part of both meals though was the beef negimaki. It tasted more like it was microwaved instead of actually broiled in teriyaki sauce. Of everything I tried here, it was the only thing that was actually inedible. Service here is spotty. It seems that the guy who works the front desk, also works as a waiter. Frequently he lets water go low, and doesn't really know the menu very well. He had issues describing the actual ingredients in the sushi, and he didn't understand when I tried to ask what the brand of Sake was. For the record, the Diamond, Pearl and Ruby sake bottles are from Momokawa, a company based in Oregon who makes some of the greatest sakes around. Overall, the food and service are at two stars, but the price really does bring that up to a solid three. If you've never done Hibachi at all, then this is a good, cheap, introduction to this great food genre.

Have gotten sushi here so many times and have never been disappointed. My must-have rolls: sexy beach, dancing dragon, crazy tuna. If you're looking for something with a kick, the hot tako roll is a must. One complaint about the crazy tuna- sometimes the tuna can be masked by the excessive amount of black pepper. They have a get 3 rolls get 1 free deal which is nice- my friends and I always take advantage of it. Can never have too much sushi!

This was not a good night to eat here. We waited a long time just to order drinks. The hot tea was warm tap water. The dishes were greasy before food even hit them. The chef looked like he was ready to stab someone--rushed the food and had no personslity. We felt very anxious the whole time. The fried rice was burned. Not a great experience at all. We won't be back.

hibachi grill for $8 during lunch 11am-3pm. really good deal and ill come back for sure. sushi was ok...lunch special for that's $9 for 2 rolls or $11 for 3 rolls--rolls are standard ones that are usually about $4-5. i tried their dinner specialty rolls buy 3 get 1 free and it ended up being $50 after tip so not bad. not great sushi, but better than other places i've tried in utah. i liked the hibachi...good show, better than benihana in my opinion and hibachi tasted really good too.

I tried this new place for lunch, having the teriyaki shrimp, bento box style. It came with salad, rice, 3 small dumplings (not sure what they were but they were tasty), California roll and the shrimp of course with sauteed veggies. It was quite filling, although they have a selection of desserts for anyone able to eat dessert after so satisfying a meal. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. There is a large variety on the menu, which gives me cause to return again. Prices are very reasonable. The corner location is not the best but give them a chance. You won't regret it. An aside: at a nearby table, there was a family with 2 children. They had ordered an appetizer that lit up and changed colours. Not sure what it was but the children were oooohaaaah. I'll have to find out what it was they had.

My goodness, the sushi here is extraordinary. The rolls are smaller than some other (more Americanized) sushi places I've been, but the prices are too. I would stack this up against any other sushi place in Utah; it's that good. Half the restaurant is dedicated to Benihana-style japanese steak, so the small-ish sushi team of 2 can take a while to get your rolls out to you. Once they do, the service, presentation, and taste are all unbelievably good. With sushi, taste and mouth feel are dramatically improved when fish is same-day fresh, and these guys aren't playing around. It literally melts in your mouth. Across the board, it was the best sushi I've had in town. The tempura wasn't greasy, and again, the taste of everything we tried was outstanding. There's a reason this place is so busy in its first week and despite its inauspicious location: the food rocks. The only problem is we may never get around to trying the steak; there are a dozen more rolls on the menu to try first!

We tried both the habatchi dinner and the sushi. The habatchi was fantastic and definitely the best part of the meal. The "show" the chef does at the table was your typical stuff, cute - the next time we go, we'll probably bring the kids and I think they'll like it. The sushi was ok. In particular I really liked their crazy tuna roll. We also tried their sweetheart roll and a few random pieces. Sweetheart roll was pretty good. But as far as the pieces went, some of the fish tasted like it could have been fresher - but the restaurant is relatively new. If business picked up, my guess is the sushi would get better too. I'll definitely go again, but probably not order the sushi pieces and instead try some of their other more interesting and creative rolls. (And definitely the habatchi!) The prices were reasonable in comparison to other sushi restaurants we tend to go to - if anything this place is a bit better priced. Also - and maybe this is just because they're so new - these types of restaurants tend to be really greasy - probably from the oil on the tapanyaki tables - but this place wasn't greasy at all. (Maybe they use less oil too - because the food wasn't as greasy as those dinners tend to be).

Salute!

It's always fun to go to a hibachi style restaurant and get to watch the show with the flames and the chef tossing knives around without chopping a finger off.

They know how to have a good time and they always accommodate our obnoxious group with flying colors.

hibachi grill for $8 during lunch 11am-3pm. really good deal and ill come back for sure. sushi was ok...lunch special for that's $9 for 2 rolls or $11 for 3 rolls--rolls are standard ones that are usually about $4-5. i tried their dinner specialty rolls buy 3 get 1 free and it ended up being $50 after tip so not bad. not great sushi, but better than other places i've tried in utah. i liked the hibachi...good show, better than benihana in my opinion and hibachi tasted really good too.

Fuji... you keep us entertained, you silly old bastard!
