I've got no complaints about Roma, but there is also nothing to rave about. I thought the prices were reasonable and the portions were a good value. I had a sausage and pasta dish and there was lotsa sausage in it, which is not always the case with Italian restos. The girls and I each got a salad and all were crisp, fresh and tasty. The young'n chose the kids' pizza and was satisfied. The owner was hanging out and was very friendly, helpful and really seemed to care that we were happy and satisfied. And we were. Was this the most authentic Italian food in town? No. Was it the worst? Hell no! I'd eat here again for sure, especially if I'm already in the neighborhood.

We have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. The food is delicious and the service warm, friendly and efficient! The delicious house baked bread (Grandmother in the kitchen!) started us off with a delicious bang. And the food just got better and better from there!

The food isn't bad. Service was slow which boggled my mind because there was only one other table there with us. Slow that it took forever for someone to just greet us and bring us water. I've been to Europe and get that the dining experience is different that in the US. But everything took forever, and the food ok. Nothing to write home about.

I had been here before and thought it was just okay, but I went again tonight and thought it was really good. The bread they serve with the meal is to die for. The members of my party ordered the pork mignon and the checca pasta and thought both were fantastic. My only complaint is that the green salad was literally lettuce with tomato, but that didn't overshadow the experience. Even the service was amazing. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.

The first time I dined at Roma, I had just finished moving and was dirty and hungry. I figured that a strip mall restaurant wouldn't require me to be fresh, clean, and dressed up. When I walked into the place, I felt sorely out of place! However, I was greeted and treated like any other guest, despite my dusty shirt and ragged hair. The atmosphere is mildly cheesy, but comfortable. The owner was a doll. She was accommodating and generous. The server was, as well. I ordered caprese salad and chicken Parmesan and wine. I was disappointed that my red wine was chilled, but the food was outstanding. Now, it did take quite a while for the food to arrive, but it was worth it. The portions were big, but not obnoxious. My second trip to Roma, I ordered a filet Mignon. I hate to say it, but it was the worst filet I have had. It would have been decent if it was just any ol' steak, but for a filet Mignon it was fatty and tough. I won't order that again. My third time, I ordered cheese ravioli and it was delicious. Overall, I love the service, though it can be pretty slow. The people are incredibly nice. The food is, mostly, delicious. The prices are good for the quality. My biggest problem with Roma is that all the wines are chilled. I love red wine, but I don't like it chilled. I wish they wouldn't do that. I will be going back soon!

The service was slow at the beginning but they made up for it at the end. The staff is very kind but on the awkward side. I had the beet goat cheese salad and it was really quite good. I would be fine with coming back for a second time but it's not somewhere I'll be bringing a date.

We show up for dinner the other night just after 8:00 pm. We are standing waiting to be greeted by a host/hostess when after to much time the waitress comes over to tell us that they are closed because they sent the chef home... what? The restaurant is supposed to be open until 9:00... I told the girl that I had a groupon expiring the next day... The girl says let me talk the the owner. So after another long wait she comes back with a message from the owner saying "come back tomorrow". I said that is not realistic can you please send the owner out so I can get some kind of rain check. After another 10 minutes with no sign of the owner we left. No wonder the place was empty and they sent the chef home. With that management. Saturday night we went to Lugano. Had a great dinner and before leaving the owner came to our table and asked how things were. In summary.. why bother going to an establishment like this one when the choices in Salt Lake are so vast..

Strip mall restaurants don't scare us, in fact most the time they are awesome establishments. This place has that potential of being amazing with a bit of help from Robert Irvine. For a Friday night just a handful of people were here. We were seated immediately by Alex who seemed very quiet but he became our waiter. He gave us our menus and off he went, the other waiter was bubbly and happy, telling the other patrons about the specials. Alex came back and asked what we would like, waiting for him to tell us the specials. I finally asked, "are there specials tonight?" He said, oh ya, I forget the specials. Lol....I said it has potential. Our Caesar Salads came, nice fresh, crisp roman lettuce not overly dressed with dressing, it was enjoyable along with bread and butter which was also good. My husband wanted lasagna, they don't make lasagna! What!? Strange? Well ok, fettuccine Alfredo and seafood linguini, both came hot and tasty. There was no lack of seafood in the linguini. Yummy! The Alfredo was your basic Alfredo, no hype here, still hot, fresh and edible. Our waiter was a no show for most of the meal, but that's ok because the other waiter took care of our drinks during this time. We ended with a shared slice if limoncello cake which was delicious and hot coffee that was just so so in flavor. Overall it deserves a second try.

Wow, EPIC Fail! Way overpriced for what you get. Service was "difficult" and awkward. I had to ask for everything, it was hard to get refills. Our dinners came out very spread out, so I had to stare at my pasta for a long time waiting for the other orders to arrive so we could dine together. The server seemed put off when we asked for drinks or butter. When we asked for more bread, we were informed that it would cost extra?????? WHAT, at this price? Go Figure. My sons Sprite was flat and warm. The food overall was OK, but mostly flat and boring, for the price I would expect a lot more. There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant at prime time (7pm), this is a good indication about Roma. I think the server sensed that her tip was quickly evaporating with each passing moment, So she went ahead and added the gratuity directly to the bill. That was the final straw. Roma, you made sure that the six of us will never return. Too bad. Beware! Shrimp cocktail did taste nice though. Too bad it was $9 for 5 tiny shrimps.

There is this thing known as the 'Utah pallet.' It refers to the bland flavoring that Utah overall enjoys. I can only assume the positive comments generated here are from those with said pallet, or perhaps pigs flew the day they dined here. I went here once with my husband. It was a packed house, so I was excited. My excitement faded as I was served one disappointment after another. The salad was boring, the tortellini was bland, the pizza was nothing to write home about. And, it cost us around $40. Blech. I enjoy food that punches me in the face with flavor. If you do too, take a slight detour south and visit Cous Cous. Now THAT is good food! You're welcome.

Best Italian food in all of salt lake city. Owned by a first generation Italian family who works in the kitchen and waits tables. Caprese is incredible. I eat here twice a week.

Everything you read on Yelp is wrong. At least for this restaurant. Okay, so ALMOST everything is wrong. Some people claimed that it's pricey. It's not, for a sit-down Italian place. Entrees are in the $11-20 range, with pastas hovering round $14 and meaty plates around $18. Seems totally reasonable to me. Other complained about the wine selection. But there are plenty of $20-25 wines that are perfectly acceptable. (P.S. Lara B. - wines that come in screwtops these days can be as good or better than wines with corks... and if you had a bad bottle of wine, tell your server it's bad!) Others said the portion sizes were out of whack. They seemed about right to me. Others called this amazingly authentic Italian. I admit, I've not been to Italy, but I sure would be disappointed if I got all the way over there and had _this_ for dinner. (It doesn't seem like homemade pasta to me, and the few Italians I know would not serve box pasta at their own restaurant.) We skipped the caprese (perhaps missing out on the reason to go here?) and had salads. My wife's mixed green salad was standard, not offensive. My caesar was fine, but had no anchovies (or even anchovy paste, or taste). I know a lot of people don't like anchovies, but if you're an Italian restaurant, and supposed to be closer to the "fine dining" side, I think that should at least be an option. My wife's pasta was tasty, but that's all. She had two bites and said "I could make this." I thought so too. The little balls of sweet fennel italian sausage were the only unique additions. My chicken dish... well, let's just say that it was a chore to finish. The sauce was essentially just tomatoes, and not vine-ripened, Italian-sunkissed tomatoes. And there was absolutely no seasoning on the chicken. I guess sort of banquet-food-like. We were hearing other servers talking about limoncello. Oh boy, Italian, house made limoncello sounded like the best way to end a meal. Turns out it was just limoncello cake. We passed. There was nothing particularly wrong with most of the meal, and it certainly was affordable. And there looks to be good stuff on the menu, but I don't think we'll be back. It's not worth a drive farther than a few blocks for the forgettable fare we had.

Slow service. Asked for a refill on my drink never got it. Food was ok but over priced. They charge extra for bread refills. This could of been a great place but they totally bombed it. Oh well won't be back.

I went here with my sister tonight, after reading great reviews on Yelp. I've come to the conclusion that everyone who gave this place rave reviews has never been outside of Utah and experienced actual, great Italian food. It's not terrible. Well, the food wasn't. The wine we got (as a second choice, after the one we'd originally picked was all gone) was terrible. I highly recommend you DO NOT choose the Kings Ridge pinot noir. We purchased a bottle, and had to use a water chaser to get it down. The twist off cap was not a good indicator or presentation. The food itself was okay. My sister ordered the chicken parm. The chicken was huge, the pasta was tiny. If you can get over the unproportionate proportions, it was still just okay. I chose the chicken and mushroom alfredo. Mine was not terrible, but nothing special. We had two meals, two salads, and a bottle of wine, all for the low, low price of $75. Definitely too much for the mediocre food.

Someone in another review mentioned the nice decor, what decor would that be? A few arches with artificial cracked and peeling stucco? I think I've seen that dead horse beat to death at other Italian places. Really its all about the food here, no homemade pasta but the people in the kitchen seem to know what they're doing. I tried the Bolognese stuffed Mushrooms, Manicotti & Rigatoni that is unique to the restaurant, loved them all! The service was great, the kid was all over us and was knowledgeable about their offering and making recommendations. If I had to offer any advice or criticism I would say please don't worry about making artsy little dabs of Marinara and balsamic on the rims of the plate, it just gets my hand dirty and makes a mess.

I gave my daughter a gift certificate that I have had for a while, there is no expiration date on it, it is not a Groupon type deal but rather a gift certificate directly from Roma. They went to use it at Roma and the would not honor the certificate, nor would the manager give her the owner's name to try and reconcile the issue since the manager had poor customer service skills. I have also tried to contact the owner but they have chosen not to respond. The food is okay but the one star is based on very poor customer service and follow through. If you buy a gift certificate from Roma caveat emptor!

Im writing this review as i sit in the restaurant for the first time so my review will progress as my experience continues: Upon walking in i am instantly in love with the absolutely charming and romantic decor, the staff so far is wonderful and very nice. They just brought us some fresh bread and butter that is very good, i usually like breadsticks in italian places, but this bread is actually really good! When our food arrived it was a lot more appealing and "pretty" on the plate than i was expecting for the very reasonable price. Holy crap!!! it is soooooooo good!!! both my stuffed pork roast and my wife's carbonara is absolutely amazing! This is for sure the best italian in Salt Lake that i have had!!! very good and authentic, sorry olive garden, i don't have to settle anymore! You absolutely have to eat here, don't be deterred by its location and look on a less than busy strip mall, it is seriously out of this world. The overall experience has earned a definite 5 star for overall, the staff could have been a bit more a tentative, but sometimes i think they just try to enjoy the down time when its not busy and hang out, and we had plenty of water and got our food to us fast, plus we usually like to just sit there without being disturbed anyway. Plus you feel like you are sitting in a little romantic pub in italy, so it gets huge points for the atmosphere!

Heard about this place from my brother-in-law and he said that is was good... Well, it is located in a strip mall, which would have prevented me from going there, however I must say that the food is great, the service is great, and I think this is one of the hidden treasures of Murray. Anytime I have company coming from out of town, or a business meeting, I try to take them there... I like the atmosphere and the food. This is a must-go and must-eat restaurant.

Great Italian food in Utah. I had the Fettucini Carbonara, which was incredibly rich and just what I wanted after a full day of skiing. The Caprese salad was a wonderful appetizer as well. Staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was nice, although the restaurant is located in a strip mall, which detracts a bit from the authenticity (though parking is really easy!)

rThe first visit for myself and my wife. Food was good but service was mediocre. Server never asked what we wanted to drink nor did she offer to put ground pepper on our salads. We also were disappointed the bread wasn't warm. This restaurant is nothing special.

WOW!! Let me just start this review off by saying that our experience at Roma Ristorante ended with one of the owners telling my friend to go F$&K yourself as we were walking out the door! Roma Ristorante has terrible service, bland food & a sloppy overall attitude. Granted, we were a party of 12 people & but that is no excuse for our meal to literally last over 3 hours. We were there an hour & twenty minutes before they even took our order. When he took my order I ordered the Parmesan chicken & pasta with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara. He said their chef couldn't prepare the meal that way. I persisted cause nothing else seemed appetizing. He ended up storming off angrily. We were left scratching our heads. After another 15-20 minutes he came back & said they would do it for me. What a guy. Refills on our drinks never came without us harrassing someone. I guess it was a struggle for the servers to keep up with the 4-5 other tables in the restaurant. As we were waiting for the check I actually leaned back ever so slightly in my chair & it broke apart. A perfect end to a horrible night. It finished up with our waiter putting up a stink about splitting the check. Whilst chatting with the manager/owner for a bit about the lack of service her husband came out & said not to speak so loudly since there was one couple still left in the place. My friend ended up saying "have a good night, sir!" To which the pirate owner responded "listen to me, go F$&k yourself!". Let's face it, if you'd like some mediocre Bosnian wannabe Italiano, Roma ristorante is the place for you.

Yeh it is a strip mall, get over it... If the food is good who cares where the restaurant is located. . Our waitress was nice, helpful and prompt but not overbearing. The Dover Sole was light and tender. Sauce was not overly done. The Balsamic Vinaigrette is not my favorite but this was very good. Limoncello Cake was lemony and fluffy.. . Although I did not like the veggies on the side. The peas added a difference but it still was the usual side. The dinner was bright and amazing flavors

First of all, where the F is Murray??? I was at Wheeler Historic Farm (address SLC) and ate down the road here... oh well. Decent and cheap Italian food. The owner is actually Italian too - a plus. The place is in a strip mall near a UPS store though (boo) and the decor is a little lacking. Overall the place seems to be neighborhood-y. My pasta was not what the menu described but it was good none the less and under $10. One complaint on my dish was the OVER USE of olive oil, it as drowning in it. Very good bread and good service. I'd go back.

I was a little nervous about trying this restaurant after seeing the widely varied reviews. Fortunately, I went anyway. The food was excellent - I had a taste of 3 different entrees (Pork mignons, Fruite de Mare, and Spaghetti Carbonara) and they were all delicious - some of the best Italian food we've had in SLC. The homemade desserts were great, too. We thought the prices were quite reasonable, and the service was good. We'll definitely be going back.
