Although this place looks totally sketchy, it is 100% awesome. My family has been eating here for years and it's still one our favorite Chinese restaurants in town. I like pretty much everything I've ordered here, but lately the hubs and I have been ordering the dumpling soup with egg noodles, beef with green beans, and egg drop soup. The prices are also very reasonable, we usually spend around $15-20 including tip and have leftovers. The service lately has been very friendly and helpful too! Will be back!

Anything you order here is good. My all time favorite is the shrimpball tofu hot pot and walnut shrimp. It's a tiny almost like hole in the wall place so don't expect elegance if that's what you're looking for.
(4)Jen D.
No impressed. Went based in reviews and was underwhelmed. Same quality as fast food Chinese for more $. The place was dirty also.
(1)Tessa W.
This place is just average. I was really hoping for something special, but it's not to be found here. I had the pon pon chicken combination. It came with fried rice, an egg roll, two crispy wontons, and a fried shrimp. I thought the egg roll tasted the best out of everything that came with the meal. The chicken wasn't bad, but I think it would taste better crispier and more done. The restaurant looks really shabby, and there isn't a nice dining area to sit in. Considering everything, I don't think I'd choose to come back here.
(3)Surfi G.
Quality keeps going down and down and down...Now it doesn't taste Chinese anymore.

My old roommate used to really like this place a lot, going on and on about how they had the best dim sum in town and frequently driving across town just to get some. Dim sum is ok in my book, but not my favorite Asian dish, by any means and so it was quite a few years before I got there. Once I finally went, I was really just expecting the same sort of standard level most of the other Chinese joints around town occupy, in that it will be pretty decent, but unspectacular and possibly (probably) a little greasy. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually was, even though the wait staff can be more than a little brusque, which is a bit out of character for the rest of the Chinese places comparatively. Again, my expectations were a bit low going in and so any sort of quality at all with the dim sum was more than I had anticipated. The regular entree I had was more in line with my expectations. The building looks fairly run down and it's sort of dark and dirty inside, leading me to wonder if they might be a suspect for a rodent infestation. I can't say one way or the other, but that element is somewhat off-putting and a substantial reason why I haven't bothered venturing down there since. I would go again for the dim sum, which was fairly moderately priced, but I'd definitely have to be really in the mood for that particular food.

This is our go to Chinese restaurant in Utah. Their selection is huge so you have to know which dish to order because the food ranges from bad to average to pretty awesome. My husband love their general tso chicken. I generally don't like Americanized Chinese food, but I have to admit their general tso chicken was pretty good. Stay away from the sweet and sour pork because it is full of breading. Having been here so many times that now we have figured out what the best dish to order: wonton soup, black pepper pork and eggplant stuff with shrimp. You can never go wrong with these dishes. They come in huge portions so it will last you for days.

We are an traditional big family, my grand parents and my parents tried a big amount of chinese restaurants and they just prefered here the best
(5)Judy L.
good take out for your greasy chinese food cravings, but by no means authentic or mindblowing. they used SPAGHETTI pasta for chow mein. wtf?!
(3)Vida A.
I was driving on State and saw the Open sign so I pulled in, after 9:30. Upon walking in, the lady was already starting her book keeping. I could tell they were annoyed by my presence but why keep your sign on, if you indeed are not open? I told her I would order small and she was ok with that even though they helped and took 4 more orders after me. In keeping with my word, I ordered a cup of shot and sour soup which came out cold so they re-heated it for me. Some white rice and egg rolls that were so oily and bland. Granted I didnt order main dishes, I most likely will never be back. Shitty place and attitude.

I've visited Little World a handful of times over the past few years and really enjoy the food. The combinations are relatively cheap and generously sized, and while the restaurant is a little on the dingy side, you'll often find suits from downtown mixed into the lunchtime rush crowd. I don't really have any complaints about the food at Little World. When I went there for lunch yesterday, my Peking Spare Ribs were tasty and accompanied by soup; rice; an egg roll; fried wontons; and a fried, butterflied shrimp. The service, on the other hand, was bad enough to prompt me to write this review. At around 1:30pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was only partially full. Still, it was a good ten minutes before someone, chatting with the other staff at a nearby table, greeted our table (I use the word "greeted" loosely; it was more of a "Do y'know what you want?"). The food, as usual, was served promptly, but we again were left waiting as we finished up our meals and were in need of our ticket and a box. I was finally able to flag someone down, and we went to the register to pay for our meal. My boyfriend paid for our ticket in cash and received some change. As he took out his wallet, the cashier interrupted him and told him to leave the tip for the waitress on the table. The comment would've been off-putting to hear after any meal, but we'd been given less-than-stellar service, and to top it all off, the cashier WAS our waitress, meaning she was directing us to leave a tip for herself! Like me, my boyfriend was a bit stunned, but he obliged, and we went on our way. I absolutely believe in tipping wait staff appropriately, always keeping in mind that the minimum wage for tipped employees in Utah is a mere $2.13/hr. If I'd seen that my boyfriend had forgotten to leave money on the table, I would've been the first to say something. But I've never had a waitress remind me that she should be given a tip for her terrible service. Prior to yesterday's experience, I would've given Little World four stars for its food and value, and my past experiences tell me that yesterday's service was probably a fluke. I'd still recommend eating there (or using the convenient drive-thru), but just be aware that if you're looking for great service, you may not get it at Little World.
(3)ChefJames E.
Okay... Do not expect the best service, because honestly, it sucks. Especially if you phone an order in. BUT!!! That's where any complaint about Little World ends. The food is outstanding. I think I may literally be addicted to it. No, seriously, I'll go through cold sweats if I'm craving Little World sometimes. It's THAT good! The prices are definitely acceptable, even cheap for what you get there. That's always a plus. The menu is massive, which is usually a bad sign, but here, not so much. They have, of course, the typical american fare of sweet and sour, orange chicken and things like that, but if you go through with a keen eye, you'll see that they also have a LOT of traditional Chinese fare as well. Their Chinese Broccoli with Beef (not Beef and Broccoli, they're different), is killer! And I don't normally like any kind of beef and broccoli... just not my type of combination. But then again, everything I've had there has been great. Overall, I love Little World, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants Chinese food. It also helps that they're open until 10, when most places in Salt Lake close at 9.
(4)John L.
When i first saw this place i thought to myself "this is ghetto!". But after my first bite i was sold. The food here is amazing and the service is quick and actually very friendly. The plates are huge which you can share with another person and still take some home. The price is very amazing for the amount of food you get. Really a great find!
(5)Matty C.
Terrible service closed 25 mins early. Shut the door in me. Judging by the exterior and service, I am glad they did.
(1)Fiona F.
Almost turned away because the outside is definitely a little terrifying, but the good on the inside - delicious! And so cheap! One of the few Chinese places I've been that had fresh, wholesome white chicken that didn't seen old or overly fried. Would definitely recommend!
(5)JR G.
We've been in SLC for a week now. My daughter is staying in Children's Primary Hospital (long story). Anyway... Needles to say we were getting tired of the same thing from the cafe here. I decided Chinese would be a good choice. I found Little World on Yelp. Luckily it's pretty easy to get around Salt Lake, so finding the place was pretty easy. When I walked in, the guy at the counter nicely showed me a menu. After a couple questions, I placed my order: orange chicken and beef with green beens and a black bean sauce ($8.95 each), pot stickers, and some fried rice. First thing... The orders are huge. You could feed four people with just once order. Second, and most important... The food is great. Everything was as good or better than any other Chinese food I've ever had. I urge anyone in or around SLC to try Little World. You won't be disappointed. Just be aware you will have a ton of leftovers if you order too much.
(4)Kylie C.
Kinda scary on the outside (and the inside if we're being honest), but extremely delicious and super cheap. Definitely a great lunch option for anyone downtown.
(5)Nimay L.
A OK Chinese restaurant in Salt Lake City. I have been this restaurant for several times in the past few years. Convenient and fast choices for take-out and big portions. I had tried many dishes here. It is not my favorite Chinese restaurant in Salt Lake City, but if you are looking for some cheap and decent food, here could be one of the choices. I like to order noodles and fried rice, but I like the eggplant here. The eggplant here is kind of heavy flavor, so some people might not like it. I have tried their lunch and I think it is good amount for the price that could make you full until dinner. Very close to downtown salt lake city, so it's convenient for people live around. Overall, this is the place that I want to have some cheap take-out Chinese food.
(3)Calvin S.
No flavor. Ruins the insides of your stomach and really off putting service. Surprised, no, shocked this has 4 stars at the time of review. The worst Chinese restaurant I have ever attended.
(1)Natalie F.
This chinese restaurant is ok in my opinion. I went with my family and I got lost looking for the restroom. It is in the back of the building but not in the little shed area. It was quite scary walking to the back of the building because the back looks like a little ally way and scary at night. We ordered some chow mein (which was kind of salty) clam in black bean sauce, salt baked squid and shrimp. The shrimp was pretty good. Overall my first experience here was ok. I was expecting more friendliness though.
(3)Kassiah W.
Just go here, the food speaks for itself!
(5)Jason R.
Terrible customer service. I asked to substitute one side in our family dinner entree, he said they would, but instead they just didn't include any side! The place is gross inside, and the food is gross too... Save yourself the disappointment and go to one of the several other Chinese restaurants in the area.
(1)Cidney T.
Service isn't the best. But, they have the best, most authentic food in Utah. I have pretty high standards for Chinese food and I really enjoy this place. Good prices too. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
(4)Jessica W.
Love there greasy potsticker. Cheese wontons. But can't find a decent egg roll at any Chinese to save my life. When did fried rice paper spring rolls become eggrolls. You know I want the thick egg paper with cabbage and that funky red pork oh yeah
(5)John A.
I advise that before you go in, sit down and order. Place your order, go to the back and wash your hands first. Do not be selfish and accompany the person you are with to the restroom. This place is set up weird, you actually have to go out the front door and walk to the back in order to get to the restrooms. You would not want anyone to go by themselves. I am a fan of this place - just ask my friends. I have yet to find a place in Salt Lake that offers better Chinese food! I remember coming here for the first time and not knowing what to order, so I went with the chicken broccoli and it was decent. I have since learned and recommend the General Tso's chicken, beef broccoli, and dumplings. You can not go wrong with these three choices. If you order the Tso's chicken - make sure to tell them to make it spicy. It makes it a completely different and great tasting dish (Thanks Jeremy for the tip). The dumplings are big and the meat inside them is great.

06.16.10 first visit ambience: B- not as bad as i'd expected, HOWEVER, it wasn't pretty. i noticed that the booth behind me was kind of cursed. the servers kept spilling water all over the table, and on the floor beside the table. one of the workers was clicking green bean ends off at another table. reminded me of documentaries i'd seen as a kid about vietnamese/thai/chinese hole in the wall shops where the family would be making dumplings in front of the customers. service: B+ no nonsense. it was like spock had trained the staff. very efficient, no emotion. food: A holy shiz. i asked my chinese friend if they use MSG. he seemed to believe so. we quipped, that for chinese food to be authentic, it has to have MSG. (secretly, i hope not.;)) hot and sour soup i hadn't eaten anything all day. i needed something to wake up my palate. nice crisp veg, just enough chili to warm the tongue and back of the throat. tender chicken pieces. and i mean, 'pieces'. pork and eggplant hot pot this dish is made by flash frying freshly cut eggplant (i saw that they cut the fresh eggplant up right before they throw it into the deep fryer), then draining it, and transferring in to the boiling pot with the pork, scallions, nappa cabbage and broth. it was SO delicious. in my traditional japanese fashion, i asked them for a small rice bowl so i could hold the rice bowl in one hand and, with my chopsticks, eat the hot pot piece by delicious piece. overall: B+ if you're looking for pristine ambience, go elsewhere. if you're looking for a really friendly server, go elsewhere. if you're looking for good hot and sour soup, and the best pork and eggplant hot pot in utah, this is your place. 4 stars for the food.

3.5 stars OILY but alright
(3)Jim H.
I had to really think this one through. I don't want to extol a restaurant, no matter how the food is, if the staff continually acts like they'd rather you not be there. The menu items that are good are really good. But there must be places out there that has great food and still had nice people. I think I must move on.
(2)Dirk M.
I love love love love Little World. It is always my Chinese restaurant of choice. I could care less if it's not the cleanest place, I almost always do takeout. Plus I love hole in the wall dive restaurants, some of the best meals I've ever had have been at dives. I think I can eat their Singapore Rice Noodles everyday and never get tired of them, they're delicious. They're always the first thing I order. Another favourite is the BBQ Roast Duck, it is so moist and delicious, the skin is so fatty and crispy... just yummy! The BBQ Roast Pork, Hong Kong Style Beef, and Salt & Pepper Pork Chops are also favourites. Make sure you ask for their hot oil, it makes everything better.
(5)Linh P.
Everytime I have gone they havent let me down. The parking isnt that good, building is small and on top they don't speak very good english but dangggg their food is always delicious I might say :) The service is always faster than they say and the food is always up to standard. The "tufo with beef" was good, the "curry with chicken" was great and the "hot N sour" was to die for.. So all n all would I say will I recommend this place???? Good food for great price, this place is a for sure :)

I cried one night earlier this week. Not because I am emotional and hormonal. Well, I am, but that's not what we are discussing here. My beloved, very regular stop, Little World, did me dirty. Reeeeal dirty. It literally hurt my feelings. Now I know that this place is not known for their stellar customer service, but I know damn well that they know my face (and belly), and I am sure they are also aware that we stop in at LEAST once every 2 weeks as of late. If for nothing else, to satisfy my craving for their hot & sour soup. But seriously, I cannot let a restaurant's staff treat me like dookie and get away with it, with my money nonetheless. We placed one of our regular orders: a large hot & sour, garlic shrimp, & egg rolls. As we were waiting, Manfriend remembered to request our usual medium side of sweet & sour sauce (its delicious in the soup.. sounds weird. try it!) The lovely young lady working the counter (I use the term lady very loosely) informed us that it would be an extra $2.00 for the side of sauce. This is included in our order every time. Not only that, but she was a complete JERK about it. Calmly, he explained that there has never been a charge for it, especially considering we had ordered eggrolls, which one would think would include such a sauce. Even if there was a newly-in-place policy for sauce-charging, I wouldn't think 2 bucks would be appropriate. And her attitude certainly wasn't called for. I know this seems like a small issue, but I feel like customer loyalty should go a long way. When we told her we were considering not coming back, she gave a bitchy commment back, not even attempting to save the relationship. Their food is not worth being crapped on. Not EVEN close. Time to try a new Chinese joint... perhaps Cafe Anh Hong? I bet the inside of their restaurant doesn't look like a dirty boot either. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!
(1)Eric R.
A lot of food even if price is a bit high, not too bad. Inside it can be a bit claustrophobic and dense. Staff can be a bit impatient even with such a huge menu.
(3)Haley B.
This is easily my favorite Chinese restaurant in Salt Lake! I order pan fried noodles and pot stickers every time and they're awesome. Additionally, I wind up with enough leftovers to last for 2 or 3 more meals. The service isn't phenomenal, but the opportunity for people watching makes up for it.
(4)Ryan R.
Best Chinese food in SLC! Reminds me of San Francisco in so many ways. Crew has zero personality, establishment is kind of funky, but the food has flavor even though Utah seems to have something against food having flavor.
(5)Mark K.
Ok. The place is a dive... But I've been looking for a really basic shrimp fried rice and this place had it. Don't get me wrong, I love more complex Asian food but sometimes I just wanna shovel rice, egg, shrimp and sprouts into my mouth and enjoy the volume. This is a great place for that. The egg drop soup wasn't great but I'll be back for the shrimp fried rice. Good job guys.
(4)Kevin S.
I've been going there since 1996 and have really enjoyed their food (although they were closed for a while, I heard by the Health Dept). Anyway, I went there today with a friend. The friend remarked that the Shrimp Chow Mein hardly had any noodles, so I caught the servers attention and asked if we could get more noodles, because we thought there'd be more. She curtly said "You should have thought of that when you ordered," and walked away. We told the other server that we didn't mind paying more and could we get some. We continued to eat and by the time we finished, no noodles came. The server brought our check and we asked if the noodles that we ordered were coming. She said "do you want it or not?" We said "it's not worth waiting for now," up to that point we had been polite (I'm usually pretty gregarious and smiling), but she just stormed away again. I went up to pay (cash, thankfully, I understand they can't be trusted with plastic) and sarcastically told her "I really appreciated your heartfelt apology," to which she mocked me like a 13-year-old "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" in a sing song baby voice. UNBEFUCKINGLEAVIBLE. They lost a loyal customer. I guess I should have stopped going there when a friend told me he found a cockroach in his food.
(1)Jeffery S.
I absolutely refuse to go to any other Chinese restaurant in Utah UNLESS I'm forced, or far away from Little World. This is a Chinese restaurant that's been in business since 1992, think about that! A Chinese Restaurant in business that long? They're doing something right that's for sure. The food is delicious and prices very very very appropriate. I've been here probably 50 times. I'm so happy!
(5)Davin K.
Holy twelve plates, batman! This is a lot of food for a little wad of cash! Great soup, great shrimp, great eggrolls, great chicken wrapped foil.. wait.. scratch that last one, reverse it. No wonder this place is packed.
(4)Doug M.
I was tipped off by a Chinese friend that Little World is the most authentic Chinese food in Salt Lake and I have to agree. Since it is on State Street it is short on ambience but makes up for it in flavor. A lot of Asians eat there and that is a good sign.
(4)Rachel H.
I have been going here for several years. This place is always consistently good. We eat here for lunch and dinner at least a handful of times every month. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants true Chinese. I love the cream cheese crab wontons!
(5)Brandon R.
Get drunk and order take-out. I don't think I need to say more, but I will. We got sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, and vegetable fried rice. It was great, and super cheap. They keep it pretty classic, and by that I mean, the delicious Chinese food that we Americans are accustomed to eating. What sets this place apart was the tremendous service and low low prices. The place was packed when I ran in to grab my order, ready to go. Great job guys. The only thing that I can't get behind is they don't have any beef
(4)Karen S.
Here's a place I can definitely thank Yelp for. I never, in a million years would have stopped here if I were just driving by. The building is tiny and run down and the parking lot, well, we (me and friend/fellow yelper Miranda W) knew to keep our eyes open and still almost missed it. But, stepping tentatively inside, we found a large Asian family (large meaning the number, not the size, of the people, although either would be a good sign) happily chowing down on a variety of dinner entrees. Nothing inspires more confidence in authenticity I think. There was also a kid sitting at a fold out table right in the middle of the room snapping green beans, which, you know, was weird. Apparently there's not a lot of space in the kitchen. The menu is a little overwhelming, with hundreds of options, and not laid out in a very clear way. So, since Yelp had gotten us this far we decided to try out some of the other reviewers' recommendations. Miranda went with the Pon-Pon chicken as a meal combo and I tried the egg plant/pork hot pot. I'm pretty sure we both secretly thought that we had ordered the better thing, so I guess that means we did a good job! Although I really did enjoy the flavor of her chicken as well. I have never had such perfectly cooked, tasty eggplant, nor have a seen such a large pot of food and bowl of rice in front of me, just for me! No way I could eat all of that, and it was less than $9. The eggplant was the main part of the dish, the pork was cute into little tiny strips, which is PERFECT for a veggie lover like me. Also, there was a big piece of cabbage(?) down in the middle of the pot, stewed in delicious juices. It was even very tasty as leftovers. The service was better than expected. We were seated and given water and menus right away, they came to take our orders sooner than we were ready, and did answer some questions about the menu. Our waters stayed full. It was never much a 'service with a smile' feeling, more like, 'my dad says I have to', but the components were all there. I surprised myself and decided I would definitely go back.
(4)Sullivan B.
Sick, the place looks like something out of TV show kitchen nightmares, never clean since it was opened, grease fryer never been clean, floors are very dirty, the window blinds have 1" on dust on them and salt shakers are greasy. I'm surprised the health deptment has not shut this place down. The only reason I didnt get sick was because the fryer and wok sterized my food.
(1)Annie J.
1st time visiting I got S&S Pork, wontons, fried rice, egg drop (standard chinese order.) It ended up feeding my 4 year old, my husband, and I for 2 days. It was seriously some of the best sweet & sour I have ever had, and the fried rice is so, so good. I loved it so much, I thought about it all week and went back as soon as I could. I love the food here. It's my new favorite dive. If you're too persnickety to look past the crazy parking situation and the sketchy maintenance issues of the building, then move along, but if you just want the most scrumptious chinese food at rock bottom prices, this is the place to go.
(4)Jun H.
This one is the best that I have had for half a year.
(5)Sam V.
If I could use two terms to describe Little World it would be: cheap and fatty. Or if you prefer euphemisms, inexpensive and calorically compromising. Definitely not a place I would recommend if you're attempting to carry out your New Year's resolution of losing those extra pounds you packed on during the holidays. However, if you are against diets and eating healthy, or if you're just in the mood to splurge (calorie wise at least), Little World is the perfect place for Chinese food in Salt Lake. One thing to expect while going to Little World, it's super packed around lunch time. Why, you ask? Well, for one thing, you can feed two medium sized people by splitting a $5-6 meal. My personal favorite, the pon pon chicken. (It's full of pon pon... and chicken!) If you, however, are in the mood for a meal that's not just a slightly better version of what you can get from the Chinese spot in your mall's food court, go with the eggplant hot pot with pork, it quite possibly will change your life. P.S. For some reason, Little World is built with a one way driving system because of it's design to be a drive-thru, the entrance into parking is BEFORE you see it. Oh, and like with any other authentic Asian restaurant, keep your expectations low when it comes to service... and in this case, cleanliness. Remember, you get what you pay for.
(4)Tong F.
Very good and authentic Cantonese food. You can get the Hong Kong style noodle and rice dishes here, too. The chef's specials are great, and I like to share a few dishes with friends when we go because it's like home. Very generous portions on the food. Friendly staff.
(4)Matthew C.
I got take out from here, it was prompt and fast. The guy cleaning green beans was pretty helpful. The dishes we had were all pretty boring. The vegetable chow men, the egg noodle soup, the chicken and green beans, and Chinese broccoli, tofu, and assort. vegetables. I am not a fan of chinese food. I guess i'd much rather have thai food. This is nother like the food Anthony Bordain eats. I'll probably be back at christmas time.
(3)Shanalee R.
I called in a to-go order and STILL had to wait for it when I got there. The Singapore Noodles were good, the hot & sour soup was not bad. I'll probably try this place again, definitely ordering something else off the menu.
(3)H. W.
Although the place doesn't look that nice, you have to give it a try if you want to have cheap and tasty Chinese food. If you want to togo lunch besides their lunch special, 204. Roast pork on rice or 205. Spare ribs on rice or just go for the Barbecue Combo. My favorite two tofu dishes are Shrimp with Diced Bean Curd and Tofu & Ground Prok with Pickled Cabbage Hot Pot. If you go with family/friend, you can order Affordable Family Dinner which comes with Soup.
(4)Lela Y.
I have not lived in Salt Lake City for over 10 years, however, when I do come back I always stop in to this restaurant. It is not a pretty place, not the cleanest place, and the servers are not that attentive but.... the food is soooo good and hot! So if you are trying to impress someone on a first date, or looking for something romantic, this is not your spot. IF.... you are looking for authentic chinese, cheap food, big portions and really fast service, you have come to the right place. I always get the Deep Fried Tofu (Pi Pa Tofu). In all the cities and restaurants I have been, I have not been able to find this dish. Even people who don't like tofu like this dish! Another great dish is the egglant and pork in a hot pot.. soooo good, with eggplant that melts in your mouth... Give it a try, you may hesitate when you first walk in but you won't be sorry when you leave...
(5)Lester L.
Delicious food n dishes. However, the environment there is not as good as their food. Little sticky everywhere.
(3)Emily S.
This place looks like a crack house but it has the best Chinese food in salt lake! My colleagues and I go here at least once a week, order 6-7 dishes, go home with full bellies and lunch for the next day, AND never spend more than $10 a person. The food is great. We've actually decided as a group that when it comes to Chinese food, the shabbier the place looks, the more authentic, inexpensive, and delicious the food is likely to be.
(5)Steve V.
This is some really good chinese food. I had the sweet & sour Chicken lunch combo. Chicken is cooked to perfection and plenty of it. It is a dive on the inside and I was amazed how crowded it was. About 12 tables and every one was occupied. We did take-out which seemed to be a popular choice as well. This place has a good thing going. I will go back in a heart beat.
(4)Jason D.
AWESOME.... make sure you try the pot stickers....
(5)Sarah C.
Quick update: i can say after a few recent visits that they have decided to improve their service. I somewhat miss the surliness, but it is nice that my fav Chinese joint now has nice servers too.
(5)Eva R.
My favorite dish is their pot stickers... The pork is surrounded by thick dough that is yummy. I haven't found another place that makes them better. I also like their lo/ chow meins as well.

If you read Karen S's review you have the lowdown I just wanted to give a shout out for Little World. After searching the reviews for a good Chinese Restaurant I knew I had to try this place. So glad we took the menu suggestions- thanks Yelpers! I I ordered the Pon-Pon Chicken which was very tasty. My very base explanation: chicken perfectly breaded like sweet n sour with a complex sweet and spicy sauce instead. The sauce has just a slight kick to it. All the food was very well prepared. Karen being the braver of the two of us ordered the Pork Eggplant Hot-pot and it was fabulous. I'm not a big fan of eggplant but the egg plant was perfectly cooked, the pork was tender, and the sweet savory sauce was very very good. We split our leftovers and when I shared a bite with a hesitant coworker she vowed to make a trip to Little World for the hot pot alone. I will reiterate the portion sizes here are huge. I made my meal a combo (just had to try a little o this an that) and it came with egg drop soup, egg roll, 2 fried wontons, a fried shrimp, fried rice, and a very generous portion of Pon-Pon chicken. It was defiantly enough to satisfy me and my hubby who does not have a small appetite. Whenever I go out for Chinese it seems there is always an extra charge on my bill somehow so I was a bit weary to order a dish that wasn't listed under the combos. But when the check came my combo was only $8.50! I was so impressed with the amount of quality food for such a great price. I will be returning! If you're looking for ambiance order out, but if you are looking for down right tasty cost effective Chinese this is your place!

Fantastic. The best food for the price in salt lake. Don't let the dive that it's your turn you off, it really is amazing. Personal favorite? Panfried noodles. :)

don't let first impression of this place Fool you. when you first walk in the place looks kinda Small and run down but I have returned several times food is delicious
(5)Maria C.
Go here because it's cheap, good, and not chainy...where you should be going when you go to Panda Express instead.

I have yet to find a chinese restaurant in SLC with good food that doesn't leave my stomach hurting and this place finally fits the bill. It's not glamorous or fancy and if you don't want to eat in a crowded small restaurant then order your food to go. The menu is huge and the prices are awesome. Everything I have ordered has been excellent!! I love the crowded busy pace of the place and even though sometimes i have gone in and there is a line out of the building for take-out, the service is always good. This is some of the best chinese food in town!
(5)Ona R.
Best Chinese food! Anything and everything on the menu is great! My favorites so far are the shrimp or chicken lo mein with egg noodles. Orange chicken. Chicken fried rice. Cashew chicken. And pot stickers. The pot stickers are a must appetizer!

As we were leaving a party of 11 Chinese people came in so that about sums it up. Okay, I can see how it use to be a KFC, but there's a place in San Bruno (Fat Wong's) that use to be a Taco Bell. Soon to come..... PF Chang's in an old Starbuck's. Food is hot, fresh, tasty and very Chinese with chickens and ducks on hangers in all its glory. BUT BUT BUT ..... ALL 5 STARS GO TO THE CHINESE HOT MUSTARD. I asked the owner/cashier what brand it was and he said, "we make it". A wedding bought us to SLC and this hot mustard will bring us back.

Came back here on my last visit to SLC and guess what? They not only repainted the interior and got new booths, but also changed the blinds! It doesn't have that same ghetto-tastic feel anymore, but nothing else about this place has changed. The waiters are still the same dudes I remember from 15 years ago and the central table is still used for veggie dissection. None of the dishes or bowls have changed and the cups are still the same grimey grey brown ones. It was reassuring when we sat down and within 2 minutes the waiter comes with the check in hand, waiting for our order. We always get the same things: large bowl of egg drop soup, pon pon chicken, beef chow fun, and shrimp balls with tofu. I'll go through each dish below. 1) egg drop soup: not your standard egg drop soup, which is why I like it so much. This version has chicken chunks, green beans, carrots, corn, and some lo mein pieces thrown in. I always add a dab of the chili oil in it to add some zing. 2) pon pon chicken: like general tso's chicken, but with some spice to it and none of those pesky veggies thrown in. The chicken is cooked perfectly and fried to a nice crisp before being immersed in sauce. I do sometimes wonder what part of the chicken this comes from because they look oddly like McD's chicken nuggets...but sometimes mysteries should stay mysteries. 3) beef chow fun: soft beef tossed with lightly sauteed wide rice noodles, sweet soy sauce, green onions, and bean sprouts. You can get the wet version which is more saucy or dry with less sauce. I prefer the wet version because the extra grease coating helps it get into my mouth quicker. 4) shrimp balls with tofu: this is my favorite dish here. The tofu is the best I've had in any chinese restaurant. It is very, very soft tofu that has been flash fried. The texture is silky and it just dissolves in your mouth. Add that with the homemade shrimp balls (think meatballs made of shrimp) in a delectable light garlicky sauce and you've got a home-run. I can easily eat this for every meal of the day for weeks and not get tired of it. Lastly, they don't charge you for rice unlike some places... I need to start planning my next visit so I can eat here again. No other chinese restaurant makes my heart quiver (fear of the grease and love of the food) quite like this one.
(5)Jacqueline F.
Little World has the best Beef Chow Fan (flat noodle). Me and my boyfriend are HUGE fans of Beef Chow Fan. When we lived in San Francisco, we used to eat that once a week. Ever since we moved to SLC, we had been looking for good Beef Chow Fan. Little World never disappoints us with that dish. The other dishes are OK but nothing special.
(4)jay s.
This place is so good, I still miss the food here eventhough I'm in Los Angeles where there are authentic ethnic foods every block. Authentic Southern Chinese food at good price. One of the best.
(5)Arya P.
We've gone here as often as every weekend in the past. It is very good food for the price. Service is descent, many don't speak much english though. If you can get past the fact it feels like you are eating in a Taco Bell this place has a lot to offer. The best way to go is to order the family dinner, which gives you a start of egg drop soup, wrapped curry style chicken, some delicious egg rolls, and some huge tempura fried shrimp, with a few dips as well. This in itself is almost a meal it is so generous. Then you get a huge bowl of rice (fried or white) with your two (or more) main entree dishes, which are fairly generous, and delicious. The beef with snow peas is always great. And of course the meal is topped off with fortune cookies at the end. All this for just under $20 keeps us huge fans of this place. It's always very busy when we've been, it's best to get here before 6 if possible. Often times they are working through a big pile of fresh beans right up front, and they have ducks and chickens hanging around the corner near the front. We always see other Asians coming in to eat here, and was recommended by a Chinese friend of mine to try this place. If you are looking for a fancy atmosphere, you will need to go elsewhere. If you want a no-frills excellent Chinese stop that is very casual and very affordable, this is it! I'm updating this to add the fact that the other night I noticed their menu was numbered and it has 296 items on it. Everything from duck feet in oyster sauce to orange chicken. And their appetizers are all $2 or less, with most of their meals being $5-$8. You really can't beat this place!
(5)Paul A.
Some of the best authentic Chinese food in Salt Lake City. It has a dive atmosphere, but the food is great. If you go in the evening, you will notice a large Chinese cliental that likes the real flavors of China.
(5)rob r.
Don't order the american chinese food here. it is too greasy and bad. go with more authetic dishes like squid with black bean sauce or pork eggplant hotpot. dumplings are great. the pork fried rice is just like your favorite east coast chinese restaurant. i feel like im back in NY
(4)Cori L.
My husband I tried the sesame chicken and general tso chicken and I must stay this was some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Even though we had two different dishes the seasoning tasted exactly the same on both. Both dishes were terribly bland, I'm sad to say this is the first time we opted to throw out our Chinese left over's.
(2)Brian G.
It looks like a dump but it by far the best Chinese Food in SLC. Make sure you order by number or you might get the beef instead of shrimp.
(5)Rob W.
This restaurant has all the ambiance of a gas station bathroom. Of course that's not what you come here for, but sadly, the food doesn't transcend the environment. The food is just ok, better than average for Chinese in Utah, but in the overall scheme of things, it's pretty ordinary.
(3)coby f.
Gah! Bah! I LOVE this place. Whenever I am unsure what I want to eat, I always know Little World will hit the spot! Dive is FOR SURE the correct word to use in describing this place. Its somewhat unclean in appearance, the staff may not be the friendly, and the outside is a total eye sore, but the food is so wonderful! The lunch entrees are HUGE and easy on the pocket. Dinners are also large and moderate in price. The taste is AMAZING, and not from an MSG overload, but real approach to cooking that many places seem to miss. Going in during mid day, one might see a little lady cutting a mound of green beans, or peeling, chopping, cutting, and when something is ordered, one could get some of the very thing she was cutting. The food is fresh, well prepared, and great tasting. I usually order; cashew chicken, sechwan chicken (pretty spicy) or shrimp fried rice. Guh... my mouth is watering. Some negs; not very 'pretty looking', staff can be unfriendly... I usually get take out and call ahead.
(5)Emily M.
Gross! We went here are the suggestion of the local paper. Now, I love a good dive/hole in the wall, but this was ridiculous. Unclean, poor service, lots of yelling and the food was DISGUSTING. Also the server kept coming over and rearranging the food plates on our table, some right in front of us. I will never return, or take the advice of the restaurant reviewer in the local paper seriously, again.
(1)Derek S.
Been twice now, both times just for takeout. The food was fine the first time, but I was a bit disappointed today with the pot stickers, which I had been told were the best in the valley. The place was good enough the first time to try another couple of times to see if my opinion improves.
(3)Patrick P.
Love this place.. Like many reviews have stated, it is a hole in a wall restaurant, but those are the best places for great food. I had the pork and egg plant hot pot and the pon pon chicken. The food portions are quite largeand I had to take it home to eat later. I would highly recommend for cheap and good chinese food.
(5)Mark L.
I don't understand what the fuss is all about. It was just so so. Postives = inexpensive, quick service, and alot of food. Negatives = noisy and food quality.
(2)Monica T.
With the new booths, the place now looks 25% less scary (on the inside, at least). Yes, it very obviously used to be a KFC, and the blinds are always crooked, but come on in! Don't be frightened by the deep fried intestine on the menu; you don't have to order it! Don't order the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (no place in the city seems to do it right, certainly not this place), but everything else is delicious. The wonton soup and Singapore rice noodles are easily the best in town.
(4)Grant R.
I went to this place with my friend Nathan on his suggestion that it was a great dive Chinese restaurant. A dive it is, and the food is good, too. Very inexpensive, and very entertaining. When we walked in, one of the women simply pointed to a table and said "sit!" I busted out in laughter. When she came to take our order I asked a question and she either didn't understand me or didn't know I was talking to her, so Nathan answered me instead. The food came out very quickly, and just after we finished our soup. The combos are super cheap for the mound of food they brought out. The service isn't top notch, but with a place like this you can't really expect 5-star service. I loved their display case that had several of what looked like cooked ducks (may have been some other fowl), so I had to take a picture.
(3)James L.
Ordered the General Tso's combo to go. I liked the food, but it wasn't what I usually think of as General Tso's. The portions were quite large. I ate at least two meals from this. I need to try a few of their other dishes. Won't be ordering the General Tso's again though.
(3)Christie B.
Best soft tofu dish I've ever had. Very funcky surroundings, but clean. Nice people, although most do not speak enough English so that you can ask questions about the dishes. Menu very big; wish I knew what to order.
(3)Joe L.
Moved to SLC just over a month ago and this is the first chinese place I've tried. Kinda wish I'd found it sooner. This place has some pretty good chinese food. I had the house lo mein, which I'm used to having shrimp, beef, chicken and pork in, but they also put krab meat and calamari in theirs. Nice little surprise. I also ordered some potstickers that I didn't get to eat until the next day because my lo mein order was so huge that I couldn't even start on the potstickers. My take out box was literally stuffed to the top. Quick note, if you do get take out, don't eat it out of the box. I did and later found out that a lot of the flavor and juices had made their way to the bottom of the box. I've never had lo mein that juicy before. So, the next day I had the potstickers (reheated in the microwave) and they were awesome! Hands down, best potstickers I've ever had. And they were huge too! One order has 6 potstickers and that was my dinner. Also, if you do get take out, make sure to call in advance. I got mine on a Thursday night and had to wait outside because there was nowhere to sit inside. The place is small, easy to miss, but can get crowded at night. Definitely going back soon.
(4)Oscar O.
I have eaten chinese food all over the country at all types of places. Little world is one of the grossest ones I have ever seen. First of all the restaruant is disgusting and filthy dirty. Second the menu is way to big for any thing to be decent. I had my standard general tso and did not take home the left overs.
(2)Angel M.
Best chineese in Utah!
(5)Tom C.
excellent stuff. going into heavy rotation. what took so long to find this takeout gem? hard to believe there isn't more buzz about this place.
(5)Bryce S.
I would NEVER have expected this place to have some of the best Chinese food in SLC, which is why I would've missed this tiny gem if it wasn't for 2 of my friends who recommended it. Don't let the exterior fool you. My personal faves are the hot and sour soup -- still my gold standard even after leaving SLC 4 years ago, and the house special pan fried noodles. Pros: - Authentic, fresh and cheap Cons: - Not for people who worship Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart, or any interior decorator.
(4)Local D.
ok, im sorry but this place is not that amazing. We read a ton of reviews in Salt Lake about this place and majority were all singing the praises for this place. It was a hole in the wall and sometimes those are the best places to go. The staff was super friendly - but it was super dirty inside. The food can be great but if you are eating something that tastes great but is dirty - it kind of changes your perception. We ordered a ton of different food to-go and it was all terrible. I won't say much more because I believe on giving a restaurant a second chance but if you are searching for great take out chinese food - I would look elsewhere. We ate less than half of what we ordered.
(2)Meahaose H.
This is a great hole-in-the-wall kind of place. I have trouble deciding between this place and Ho Ho down the street on certain nights but this place wins out on occasion. My best buddy and I had come here a few times and the one thing he said about this place that I remember is that, "It has a lot of soul". That it does. The food is delicious and cheap, the service is as good as it gets for a Mom-n-Pops Chinese place, and the diners are mostly ethnic(a very good sign in my book.).
(4)Bert A.
This is great Chinese food. It reminds me of some of the places in Chinatown in SF (the good ones that the locals eat in not the overpriced tourist traps.) I have not been disappointed ever by the food at Little World. This is one of few places that my DW actually told ME about. I'm the foody in the family and she did a lunch with her friends at this place and told me about it. It's not much to look at but the food more than makes up for it.
(4)Scott L.
This is a place I go to when I'm in SLC. Food is always tasty, maybe because of the extra favor explained at the end of the post. I tend to go for the pei pa tofu (has shrimp in it), deep fried prawns or some meat dish and a vegetable dish. Price is reasonable and easy to get find. STOP READING if you don't want to know about the extra favor. Anyway one day I was sitting in the front area waiting for my take out order and peered through all the hanging meats to the kitchen and saw the cook dishing up a platter of fried prawns and one fell to the floor. Anyway, it was within the five second rule, so you know here the prawn went. This was years ago, so maybe they don't do that anymore...
(4)Linda T.
A hole-in-the-wall. This is my go-to place for Chinese food. The wait can be insane, but it's well worth it. It's pretty authentic Chinese food, and I would know - I'm from LA and I'm Chinese. Prices are pretty decent compared to what I'm used to having for their somewhat heafy portions. My recommendation is to get to-go. Don't eat inside; the ghettoness might scare you. Plus it gets too crowded inside since they don't have a lot of seats.
(5)jenny K.
Yikes. I read so many good reviews of this place on yelp etc and was SO excited to try it. We went there and ordered way too much food so excited to have left overs for the next day or two. After we opened it and started eating We threw most of it away. I don't know what they eat for chinese food in Utah but if this was the best around, I feel bad for these people. also the place is DISGUSTING! so dirty. I really wanted to like this place but ugh not good.
(1)Joseph S.
its ok HO HO south of here on 1500 State you have stole my heart and cravings for Chinese food
(3)Scott S.
When it comes to authentic Chinese food you'll not find any better in SLC. This small "hole in the wall" as Linda states will not disappoint your palette. The prices are reasonable and the portions may overwhelm the stomach. You know its good when you're the only one that can speak english, including the customers. No need to put the expensive threads on here. Yea, it is a dive, but you'll find none better between here and LA.
(4)Laura P.
Is it fair to give them 4 stars based on one dish, the dish that I order again and again without fail because I can't bring myself to deviate from my norm? Little World's house special pan-fried noodles are my gold-standard. I fell for this dish when I first had it years ago at a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Virginia but Little World is tops. I love how they set down a huge pile of thin egg noodles, topped with slices of silky chicken and beef, pieces of roasted pork, a sliver or two of fake crab, chinese cabbage, button mushrooms, carrots and snow peas in a not-too-thick sauce. The best part is where the egg noodles are still crisp from the frier and not touched by other ingredients. . .mmmm. Their baby bok choy is meltingly tender. The decor is less than minimal but the booths are comfy and have high backs. All the better for the other patrons who don't have to see me devour my house special.
(4)Donna D.
This place feels more authentic than most Chinese restaurant I've been too. I mainly order their beef stew which is a must to get the meat just melts in your mouth and shrimp balls with mushrooms nothing more to that because in most Chinese dishes they use a lot of oil base literally in every dish and I get easily sick from that. Anyways yeah this place is small but food wise overall is pretty decent. Remember to try their beef stew!!!
(4)B B.
both myself and another ordered the egg foo yung with high hopes ....only to be completely let down they DID NOT EVEN USE EGGS!!!!!!!!!! it was concocted with some type of corn starch base with some veggies and gravy no flavor, like cutting into a dough patty.....GROSS if they are so cheap not to buy some eggs.....well
(1)Mike B.
Nummm nommm numm. Little World kind of gets lost in my "best of book", and I often times kind of forget about it, but that's only because I don't often frequent that area all that much. However when I do get up around Little World, my mouth automatically starts savoring the many offerings they produce. They serve up about any chinese dish you can imagine, and although it's basically/probably in the category of fast food, just keep in mind it is pretty great food, done fast! I don't think I've ever been there were I've /walked away hungry or dissatisfied!
(4)Jason N.
I've been coming here since the late '90's. This is my favorite place to order americanized chinese food. I usually get the Mongolian beef lunch combo. For $6 along with your entrée you get soup, fried rice, fried shrimp, crispy wontons and an egg roll. The service here is quick and to the point. Recently they were shutdown by the health department. I have never gotten sick in the years I've eaten here but the violations are troubling.
(4)Kedy S.
Edit: you can do better This isn't the crappy tiny dirty hole in the wall Chinese joint SLC deserves, but it definitely is one is needs. Come here fully understanding that the service will be poor, the decor will be nonexistant, and it's not exactly a welcoming hangout atmosphere. This is a place to get delicious food, in large portions, for cheap. To go or dine in, these guys know cook good food (relatively). It definitely isn't the best Chinese food ever, but it's the best in Utah. The walnut shrimp should be ordered with the cook adding more sauce or making a bit sweeter. The Beijing beef was the tits, definitely the best dish I had. I'm glad I live near by because this is now the designated go to late night (relatively) Chinese joint.
(3)Jesus L.
I have come to this place since 2000. It has the best Chinese food in the state. It even offers authentic dishes such as duck feet and bean curd for the more adventurous. However, their Americanized dishes are all great. The handmade potstickers are a must have. That being said, the decor has not changed since I first went there and it looked like a shady hole in the wall back then. It looks like it was an old KFC back in the day. As for drinks, don't expect refills, unless you are ordering water. Sodas are sold by the can. Despite the looks, it is a place we return to again and again. I think instead of applying their efforts to the decor, they applied it to the food, because I honestly think it was better than ever the last time I went.
(5)Tony L.
This last visit was not all too pleasant, started seeing some old staff again. Décor was like the inside of toilet as was before. We tried a few more dishes in hope of redemption this last time. Wonton was ok, but the soup was a bit salty though. Wet Beef Flat Noodle used to be a great dish here, and it did not have this unbalance odd flavor like this last time. Beef Stew Pot, chewy and uncooked... amateur mistake or just laziness? BBQ Platter, it was awful, everything was reheat from X days ago. The duck had a rotten flavor in it, and everything was piled together like big mess. The chicken tasted like duck with spill over, the pork tasted duck as well, only that three letters acronym starts with a W ends with F could describe that dish. Service was same old indifferent poker face attitude. I will give them the benefit of doubt being a non-Chinese BBQ specialty joint like Ho Mei, but they should think about taking the BBQ stuff off the menu. Overall, I think they gotten either more comfortable or just lazier in this restaurant business. Definitely, a restaurant fallen star in town.
(3)Nigel L.
I'll leave it at a 3 for now, but people are right that the quality is going downhill. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in SLC, having frequented the place since I was a young pup. The last three times I've been, there was a marked decline in overall quality. Something about the food just wasn't the same. Some of my favorites: Chicken Chow Fun, their Steamed Potstickers, and the Shrimpball tofu pot. I also like the Flat Noodle Wonton Soup (testicle surprise as my significant other refers to it as). If you want classy ambience, this ain't it. I mean talk a stroll down State St. and you will see why. I am always hopeful it will return to what it once was and am very open to increasing my rating in the future, but I'll leave it at OK for now.
(3)Bryce B.
I have had little world a few times on other few occasions.... But today the food was unbelievably good and there was service to go with it.
(5)Gabe S.
As mentioned in my tip, cosmetically, the building and interior could use some updating but to me, that doesn't matter. What does matter is quality of the food and service. Both are awesome and portions are a really good size.
(5)Chris Y.
Pulling up into a tiny-but-at-least-it's-paved parking lot outside of this sketchy-looking, run-down building that looks like it used to be something else, but a long time ago... it definitely gives the impression that you can't expect too much from them. It isn't improved on the inside, either. But anyone who understands Chinese restaurants in the USA will know that there's an inverse relationship between the restaurants' ambiance and food quality -- basically, the best Chinese food comes from the worst-looking places. So you can already tell where I'm going with this: the food here is great! There are less than a handful of places in the entire Beehive State that can compete with the Chinese food that Little World is serving up. Not that there is a whole lot of competition. But still!
(4)Hang W.
Sadly with the change in owners and/or staff. This place has gone downhill. The flavor isn't there anymore and it seems like they're buying lower quality as well.
(2)Daniel O.
Honestly I was stoked for this place because of the reviews. I just moved here from Atlanta and have not tried any Chinese here in SLC. This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I got the broccoli chicken which at every other Chinese place I've ever eaten at is basically chicken and broccoli in teriyaki style sauce. Not here- it's literally chicken noodle soup without the noodles. The chicken has zero flavor- it comes with multiple vegetables even though it's called chicken and broccoli. It's in a nasty chicken stock broth and the soy sauce they use literally has no flavor. This is the most bland meal I've had in a long time- I posted a picture of the meal that's how much I threw away. 9.00 literally wasted. Will not be returning here. UPDATE: it's no wonder this place is "temporarily" closed for 71 yes count them 71 health code violations. sick.
(1)Stephen L.
Good chinese food.... I came here once and I loved their "fried rice with salty fish", it reminded me of the true Chinese food in Asian (i.e. Taiwan). The restaurant is rather small and it is not as nice/clean as other restaurant, but the price compensated it (pretty good/reasonable), so expect good good with simple ambience... worth the value !
(3)Tania S.
Listen! I've had Chinese food all my life in the Golden State like I've drank water and breathed in smoggy air. I have however, avoided most Chinese food in SLC probably out of fear of being disappointed. Like most of these little food adventures I've been on in SLC, it's turned out to be surprisingly good. In true Utah form, the staff was super friendly and took care of me and my group well... And fast! Our food was out no more than 15 minutes after ordering. The pricing is superb. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein, with the skinny noodles...The special on the cover menu page. I was happy with all the sides. The fried shrimp I would wholeheartedly recommend. Mind you, portions are huge so if you want leftovers, you Sir (and Miss) will get those damn leftovers! This place is akin to any Chinese restaurant I've been in a big city while staying authentic and well-made! Do try. The menu is huge so there's something for everyone.
(5)Skip R.
Best Chinese in the Salt Lake Valley. No question. NO QUESTION. I highly recommend the fried shrimp balls, sweet and sour pork, and the General Tso's chicken. And if you are looking for a noodle dish, you have to try the chow mein. Perfection. Like everyone else says, don't be thrown off by how the place looks - the magic is in the meal (which is safe according to the Department of Health).
(5)Tim M.
The dishes are decent and the service is quick. For a guy like me who likes the standards, there is some good stuff here. However, the hygiene leaves a bit to be desired. They even got shut down by the health department briefly. I've been worried in the past but I've never gotten sick and I keep going back!
(3)Sean F.
Review is for take-out only: Egg rolls were more like spring rolls with little filling or flavor. General Tso's chicken container was wrapped in plastic to ensure maximum sogginess. Flavor was ok but not General Tso's. Shrimp lo mein made with thin noodles not lo mein noodles. Very salty almost MSGish flavor. Roasted pork was good but not good enough to make this worth your while. Edible but not enjoyable.
(2)Nick W.
A great lunch value even if they recently raised the price to $5.99 for the deluxe lunch. You don't go to Little World for the ambiance and, the servers attitudes couldn't be less welcoming but you get good food served fast. Ask for house mustard with your egg roll and order extra fried (not filled) wontons to crunch up into the egg drop soup. You can order your beef and broccoli with pan fried noodle which makes it even better.
(3)Keri C.
The beef chow fun was outstanding. Lots of beef in it too! The egg drop soup was quite good as well, lots of different veggies I didn't expect.
(5)Marianne C.
LOVE the food here...that part of town though is a little sketchy don't venture alone!!! Also, I just heard it was shut down anyone one know of this?
(5)Missy B.
Best Chinese food in Salt Lake City. I come here all the time. Staff is friendly and food is delicious!
(5)Jess S.
Bland food and sick employees made this an unmemorable experience. We had intentions of not wasting leftovers but they went right into the dumpster. Bummer!
(2)michelle m.
Two words: shrimp balls. Shrimp balls shrimp balls shrimp balls. Shrimp balls. I only order two things from there-the first being SHRIMP BALLS!, the second being shrimp pan fried noodles. Every time. Never been disappointed with either, so I figure if it ain't broke-don't fix it. Various dining counterparts have ordered different things from the menu-all good, but god damn those shrimp balls are great. The place is a total shit shack with bars on the windows...which is part of the allure (for me, anyway). They also have a drive thru for those times you need to eat shrimp balls in your underwear in solace. They also offer duck which is exciting. Rather bony, but what did you expect? This, along with new gold medal in Oakland, are my go-tos for cheap, satisfying Chinese food.

The food was alright. The service was quick but curt. In all, I can't really complain for the price. This place will meet your needs if you are looking for edible cheap Chinese food.

This has got to be one of the WORST Chinese restaurants I have ever tried in the Salt Lake area. Between this one and Ho Ho Gourmet, it is a toss up as to which one is worse. But I initially decided to try out this place at the behest of a friend at work. She said she would swear by it that this was the best Chinese food she has ever had despite being in the smallest, dingiest place on State Street. So I tried it out with my dad. Boy, it was god AWFUL! The empress/regent chicken was SO HARD that I just couldn't chew it. It was like it just came out of the freezer. Perhaps the most freezer burned chicken I have ever had and quite possibly even besting the crap I had at Taste of Thai, which I utterly detest. The tofu was quite salty as well. I don't personally like overly salty food, but being Chinese, I'm kind of used to it. Aside from being too salty, the texture of the tofu was at least tolerable. Swallowable if you will. The same goes for the bok choy we ordered. Completely steeped in oil and way too salty for a vegetable dish. I just found it funny that all along the walls, both inside and out, were testimonies to how great the food was, how many awards it had been awarded, etc. Then, when you look at the dates, you realize that all of these were bestowed on the restaurant in the last millennium! In other words, a complete fall from grace in the last decade and a half. I then started asking some of my Chinese friends what this was all about, and they finally revealed to me that Little World's star chef, quite possibly the one reason why they had been steeped in awards, had left about a decade ago, and the rumor was that he had defected to Golden Dragon. This kind of made sense, as the menus for Little World and Golden Dragon are nearly identical, down the font lettering. Yet I have tried the food at Golden Dragon and it is NOTHING like the crap you get at Little World. There, the food is at least decent and recognizably Chinese. And it was CHEAPER! Might I add that the service was also a joke and practically non-existent. The manager guy came over to take our order. Clearly, he speaks Chinese, and clearly, he knows we speak Chinese, but instead of striking up a friendly conversation with us, as you would expect, he insisted that we point to the menu and just order in English. Was this meant to save time or hassle? Because it quite possibly did, but also left an extremely bad taste in my mouth as to how rude these people could be, even to their own people. So, in one word: DON'T. DON'T go. DON'T do it. Just DON'T. You will be sorry if you did. (And you will be praying to God that you don't get food poisoning because I certainly was feeling extremely sick afterward.) PS If you want the award winning food that people once raved about at Little World, just head over to Golden Dragon down the street. There, you will find quality food, better customer service, and far cheaper prices.

I'd give zero stars if it would let me. This place has been temporarily closed by the health department for some pretty disturbing finds. But from my experience, I'm not surprised to see it shut down. But they'll do the bare minimal to get it reopened, keep that in mind next time you're in the mood for Chinese.

I LOVE this place!! It's good food and they treat you literally like family, their prices are fair for the food you get. They could remodel their restaurant to be more friendly but it's not bad. Visit this place, you won't be sorry!

Surprisingly this place has improved since I last remember. My family and I used to frequent here often as my father will only go out to eat for Chinese food but in recent years we've noticed it went downhill. We tried it again recently and it was surprisingly good. We got the family dinner with 8 treasure soup, which is pretty decent. The service is always not the friendliest but always efficient, which I care more about anyways. We got the salty fish clay pot, which is pieces of salty fish and tofu, pretty tasty though not as much fish as I'd like. We also got the beef and green beans, which was tasty. The meat and seafood dish (literally called something as vague as that) was also good with shrimp, scallops, I believe pork, and squid. Tasty. Lastly we had to salt baked squid, which is always good. You don't feel the greatest afterward, but hey I love me some good old greasy Chinese food. I think I'll frequent here more often.

I really like the atmosphere, as I am a fan of every possible ambiance that places offer. This place is a dive. Now I do plan on going to this spot again to try out some other things and get a better bearing of what this place has to offer. I ordered the sesame chicken and egg rolls. I enjoyed the sesame chicken but I do feel as though I am still on the hunt for that great Chinese spot. The egg rolls... were a bit greasy and mushy. My partner in crime told me that is how they are at that place. She swears by this place, we differ in opinions on this one. I was told to try the eggplant hot pot, so that is what I plan on doing the next time around. However since alcohol is probably not allowed in this establishment, I may go the take out option because I do feel as though a nice cold brew may supplement well. So two stars for now, until next time.

I ordered take out from there tonight, got the sesame chicken. I took a bite of the broccoli and it tasted like rotten chicken. I took a bite of the chicken, just to make sure it wasn't just old broccoli and it made me sick. Where's the pepto bismol when you need it, ugh. It's a Friday night and they're serving rotten poultry...go anywhere else but here. Spare yourself a stomach ache and a waste of $9. Worst Chinese I've ever had.

The food is amazing! Don't leave this restaurant without trying the peking spare ribs. Mmmmm.

While the portions were large the meals we had weren't very good. Not terrible just completely forgettable. We had the cashew chicken, vegetable chicken, and a third dish that I can't even remember the name of.

Cantonese flavor. Quite good actually. Their 4 ppl set served with soup, rice and 4 large dishes was really a good deal with low price and lots of choices of dishes. The roast duck was really good!

This place is doable...well at least the things I've ordered thus far were good. Not the best I've had but it's above average. Very affordable prices, generous proportions and food quality was consistent. The atmosphere here is a bit like a restaurant somewhere in southeastern Asia and has a hole-in-the-wall feel to it. My friend and I went and got the salt baked squid and BBQ pork with bok choi over rice, and some other dishes that I can't recall their names. All of them were delicious. Give this place a go if you want good authentic Chinese food.

The waitress was actually eating a piece of pizza while she was setting tables, and came to take my order with a mouth full of food, and a half-eaten slice of pizza in one hand. really. she had food in her mouth, and un-eaten food in her hand.

While it's not the absolute best all around, it is the best in SLC, hands down. Since moving here over a year ago I have been disappointed time and time again by other Chinese food joints. This place is a little farther away from me but I will gladly make the drive for food here over any other place that is close by. My only complaint is the egg rolls, they seem more like fried spring rolls to me. I'm used to egg rolls that are wrapped in wonton wraps and fried with bean sprouts, egg and some fried pork. I'll definitely be back here.

I feel drunk. That's the measure of a really great divey place, and Little World has left me feeling totally light-headed. As a non-drinker, in my heart of hearts, I feel like I may never truly appreciate a place like Little World. Great low-budget Chinese food may very well be best enjoyed while inebriated, but there's an odd phenomenon that occurs with me - we'll call it a sober sixth sense - where I can just feel in my gut that a restaurant would be superb while intoxicated. And my spidey sloshed sense definitely went off. For starters, this place is a total and complete dive. And that's perfect. There are a few booths and seats around the dining room, but a big bulk of their businesses is takeout. There's a drive-thru window as well for chow-seekers on the go. The menu has somewhere in the neighborhood of 862,000 items on it. Let's just round up and say there are about a million things to choose from--soups, apps, noodles, rice dishes, fried noodles, and lots and lots of chef's specialties. They also do a nice hot pot (all prepped) so if you haven't before, give that a whirl. Tonight I had the shredded pork fried noodles. I received approximately four gallons of the stuff and paid 12 cents. At least it seems. If you want to be all precise, they gave me a large takeout container of the veggies and pork with sauce and another foam container with a pan's worth of fried noodles for about $8.. The meat and sauce was served at nearly 12,300 degrees Kelvin and though the leftovers have now been in the fridge for several hours it may have cooled to the temperature of a V8 engine block that's been running at full speed for a few days. I'm trying to say be careful, because it's hot. I did appreciate that they wrapped up the to-go box in plastic wrap to avoid spills. Bonus points. It was everything I had been hoping for. Greasy, sloppy, and totally indulgent in the best possible way. I'm not even going to begin the "authentic" argument because I truly have no idea. But was it authentically divey food? That I can affirm. And on that measurement this is perhaps the most remarkable in the city.
