Man, I dislike this place so much. Bland salads, squished sandwiches and soups with ingredients that resemble sawdust more than the mushrooms and cauliflowers that they claim to have been. That being said, Zupas is a convenient place to eat with a large group of people - falling along the lines of "something for everyone" - or to grab something to go on a quick lunch break. The staff at this particular location are super friendly and annoyingly chipper. Their system is cafeteria style: order a salad or sandwich at the counter, or you can skip directly to the soup station. This is where you'll usually find me. Wisconsin Cauliflower and Mushroom Bisque are my personal recommendations. But can someone please tell me what the difference is between a small and a medium? Besides the bowl being bigger, I don't believe they dish out any additional scoops of soup when paying for the size-up. By the time you make it to the cash register, you will have been asked at least 3 times, "What did you order?" And you'll have to yell back at the cashier because the place is so loud. Don't forget to grab your forks, spoons, and knives around the corner if you're ordering to-go, because they don't put them in the bag for you and I've left more than once without any utensils.

I absolutely love coming here for lunch! It gets really busy between 12-1:30pm during the week but their staff is super fast and also super friendly. My favorite soup is still their tomatoe basil and I recently tried the chocolate hazelnut creme brulee that they have and it was delicious (I know, kinda unwarranted to get a dessert at a soup and salad place!). I also love how they give you a chocolate covered strawberry with whatever you order - this is forsurely the zupas signature. I will definitely continue to come here for lunch.

Their food is edible buy very overpriced. They are so cheap about their toppings or even an extra piece of bread. I found out they use lard in all their soups to make it taste better. Believe me eating soup and salad there is no different than a big basket of fried chicken.

Their service was beyond great - I was helped along the way by 3 unnervingly chipper employees, all desperate to help me in some way. The MangoBerry salad was insanely delicious, the white bean soup was tasty and the french onion soup was one of the best I've ever had. Great experience all around!

The food at Zupas is always good. I love the sandwiches. I'd like to see a few more flavors of soup. Salads are huge and will provide a hearty meal. At this particular Zupas the staff seems to be very well trained and courteous. We rarely ever to go any other location due to its proximity to home, so I can't really say others are worse. But the managers train their employees well to be kind and have a good attitude about work. They are also really fast at getting the orders made. I'd like to see a larger food selection, but otherwise great place!

Great food -- fresh and fun flavors (with the exception of a couple clunker soups) -- at good prices. The employees are SO friendly that their good service doesn't make the inefficient ordering system any faster. The manager and several employees checked in with us while we ate, though, which is rare for a self-seating place like this. Fancy drinks and desserts too! I'm definitely going back.

I had the vegetarian sandwich and enchilada soup. Both were okay not horrible but definitely not amazing. And about the lack of tea or coffee, the cashier said their management wanted Zupas guests to have only caffeine free drinks. Ugh. Really? Considering how bad carbonation is for bones and teeth I would rather have tea. I understand the difficulty and liability associated with alcohol service but the decision to omit even tea and coffee really bugs me so I deducted from the rating I gave by one star.

Great fresh sandwiches, soups, and salads. I keep coming back for the vegetarian sammie. The staff are all super friendly and there's plenty of seating. I brought my relatives here and they loved it. Good for the whole family! My one complaint: out of Diet Dr. Pepper two days in a row!

I've been here at least a dozen times but hadn't written a review. So here it is: I like their variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. Everything is fresh. You can change ingredients without problems. They give you a free chocolate dipped strawberry with every meal plus you can buy cheesecake or creme brulee or mousse. The drink/utensils/napkin area can get crowded; same with tables and parking during busy times. My favorite foods are the ultimate cheese panini and mushroom bisque. I wish they had takeout containers available without having to ask. The employees are service oriented. Fast, good food.

I don't understand why this restaurant is so popular. The food is boring, bland and not prepared with care. Not to mention the service is terrible. If you can even consider it service since its more like an over priced cafeteria. On one of several terrible visits I've had to make here because of my work I accidentally gave my client an old menu. The sandwhich she ordered was no longer on the menu. I simply asked them to make something that was similar. The staff could not figure this out. I compared the old menu with the new and found a sandwhich exactly the same minus pesto... I'm not a sandwhich expert but then again its not rocket surgery. I try to avoid this place as much as possible.

When I came in yesterday for lunch the place was STACKED! There was a line almost out the door! I thought about going somewhere less busy, but I needed my Carnitas!!! I prepared myself for a line that could've understandably taken 15 minutes, however, I was pleasantly surprised as I was sitting down with my food in under 4 minutes... (Yes, I timed it!) I want to give another great shoutout to this amazing Zupas location. The service is always unbelievably wonderful. Everyone from Jen, the hospitality manager to everyone on the line is genuinely kind and goes above and beyond to make customers feel welcome!

I love zupas. My favorite soup is the garden chowder. If you really want to splurge, try their desserts!

Our grandchildren like Zupas. If we ask them where they want to go this is their first or second choice. They enjoy the food. They don't have to go through the ordering process. It's enough to drive you crazy. From the front of the line to the Cashier, you're asked to repeat yourself at least three times what you ordered. If we have a large group of (say) 13 family members all coming through together it's so complicated that we're all NUTS before we ever get to the table. If you're blessed with patience as a virtue...this place could be for you. For those of us that can see 15 ways to streamline a very simple process, this place will make you crazy. Their food may be good...I just can't taste it because I'm too frustrated by the time I get it. (BTW, I assume the employees feel the same way. I don't believe I've every met one twice)

I have gone to zupas many times, I like their food, but I don't love their food. The soups are very good the rest is average. My customer experience has been poor as of late. I go there on my lunch break and get a small size on the soup. Found out today that in the last month the price has increased almost 20%. I understand that prices do go up for 20% - common!?!. a cup was just around $5 now its right at $6. hold the break and strawberry and just make it affordable. I am having a cup to stay economic- geez. Also, the ladle of soup is tiny and the cup of soup that you fill up is barely 2/3 full. If that is the size (which I guess it is) then so be it, get a smaller cup so it doesn't look like you are cutting your customers short. The other issue is that everywhere else a cup of soup is full. So to add insult to injury you don't fill up the whole 'cup' and you are now charging close to 20% more. UGH. Last but not least- its confusing for customer to go through the line without feeling like I am cutting someone off if I don't want salad and only soup.

I like the salads a lot, though I hate that they throw them in bowls to mix because I am allergic to nuts and sometimes I order a nutty salad sans nuts and they throw it all in the same tossing bowl. I always have to say something, and half the time by the time I get down to the soup section, there comes my salad with nuts on top anyway. The soups are delicious and calorie laden. I love the lobster bisque and clam chowder. The little chunk of bread and strawberry that accompany the meal is a nice touch. Sandwiches are meh. I super hate being asked 3 times what my order was by the time I get to the register. There has to be a better way!

Wonderful food. We had the nuts about berries salad. Wow the flavors just popped. The crab avocado melt was yummy. We also had the carmel rockslide brownie. It was not the best brownie I had. The brownie was a little cakey but I would try one of their desserts. Service was very good too. free wifi.

I love Zupas which offers delicious salads, soups, sandwiches and desserts. The nuts about berries is my favorite salad. The Cottonwood location has a great staff on board. It usually has plenty of clean tables so its nice for families and groups to go to for lunch or dinner.

There are many other great restaurants within this complex, pass on Zupas and find something better. The soups are good. The salads are ok. The panini is terrible. The place is crowded and loud. Just like all the other Zupas, It is an ok place to eat but nothing special.

Food is consistently great. The only things I would change is that it always seems too cold for children and I wish they had a playground for kids.

Food is good and tastes great. A 5 year old could have made my sandwich better though. I did get sand in my salad once.

If I could give this place a zero star I would. Zupas as a company has decided to say that it is now a policy to say that none of their soups are Gluten Free. I have gone to Zupas before and had different soups and have been fine. I understand the possibility of cross contamination but it very possible to have the employees of Zupas have the knowledge of what soups don't contain gluten ingredients. Suffice to say Zupas at this location lost the business of 3 people, only 1 of those being gluten free. They had already taken all of our orders and had made them, so they not only lost our business but product as well.

Talk about friendly service and delicious food! Chances are you'll be greeted at the door and then encounter about a dozen more smiles as you make your way through the order line. When it comes to customer service, this place knows how to please! I've always had great lunch experiences at Zupas. They offer a wide variety of delicious sandwiches, healthy salads, and a unique selection of soups that you can't help but love! And the complimentary chocolate covered strawberry is the perfect way to end your meal. I suggest a combo meal, where you can choose from a combination of soups, salads and sandwiches.

I find that Zupas is the perfect place for healthy soups, salads and sandwiches. I had a Shanghai Chicken Salad, which was lite and fresh tasting. For all their salads, they place the lettuce in the bowl, drop salad dressing on top, toss it together and bam, perfectly mixed salad waiting for toppings. Everything is made right in front of you, ensuring your meals comes out just perfect. If you choose to get a fountain drink, you get 10 choices of flavored syrups to add splash of flavor. Here's my favorite part, with each meal you get a strawberry dipped in chocolate, yummy!

I was hesitant to try Zupa's my first time. The sandwiches have a very specific style and flavor. But after I did, I couldn't stop going all week. Zupa's serves medium sized panini grilled sandwiches (like turkey with sprouts and cranberry, or honey bacon club, etc), large portions of unique and tastey salads, and delicious soups. They have a featured soup every month. My favorites are the Honey Bacon Club, the Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo, and the Chipotle Salad. Everything is served with a chocolate dipped strawberry, and soups are served with baggette bread. They also have cookies, brownies, and cheesecakes for dessert. The atmosphere is modern and clean. Most of the time, this location is bursting with customers, and there is a feeling that you won't find a seat. I've never actually had to eat my food elsewhere though. The staff is courteous and happy. They clear your table for you.

Kind of like Panera but much better. My salad base was all greens and didn't include any tasteless, white lettuce pieces. The Tuscan white bean soup was wonderful. Wish we had these in MD.

My family and I initially called the Holladay location to place an order for pick up. Upon placing the call, I was greeted with a recording, and only a recording, letting me know their catering services were booked for the day. There was no chance to speak with an actual employee of the store. So we decided to travel to the store to order for carry out instead. The employees made us feel rushed and hurried. The cashier charged my card incorrectly and had to run it twice. Then when we arrived back home to enjoy our meal, which we so often do, the salad my father ordered was missing its chicken! Again, I tried to call the Holladay location only to receive the recording letting me know their catering was full for the day. I was not able to speak with anyone. The recording allowed me to press five to speak with a catering coordinator, I was then put on hold for two minutes and the recording cycled again back to beginning. I then tried to reach out to Zupas on their website. Each time I tried to click the link to write an online review, the website said the link did not exist. I am very disappointed that I cannot, in the very least, make Zupas aware of their blunders. I am very disappointed in such poor customer service.

Unfortunately Zupas has been quite disappointing lately. They changed their menu and got rid of my favorite item and added some mediocre sandwiches. They also now have people to greet you at the door trying to force a menu in your hand. Doesn't sound like an issue but these menus are To-go menus, and for a company that has signs about being "green" it's not very efficient to print thousands of menus for people to throw away when they are done with it. Food quality also seems to be a little different these days. Not quite sure what happened but it seems to have gone downhill since the beginning.

The service is annoying and ridiculous, each clone down the line seems to have no communication with another, asking us the same questions repeatedly with cloying phony sincerity. Even the checkout person has no clue what the order was. The salads are meager. One teaspoon of each bland ingredient on bitter lettuce. ick.

Zupas offers a wide-variety of soups, sandwiches, and salads. I've eaten at this location a handful of times and generally been pleased with my food. Although their presentation is by no means great the food itself is simple and food. The staff has generally been friendly and quick to get my order. I do think there ordering system is a little rushed and not very organized, but it gets the job done so I guess thats fine. One thing that bugs me about this location is the greeter. There is a greeter at the door every time I've been there, the same guy, and its awkward and weird. He gets right in your face when you walk-in and tries to be overly helpful. Maybe some customers appreciate that kind of customer service but I don't. Price-wise Zupas is somewhere in the middle between inexpensive and pricey.

  • Dustin B.

What's there to say that hasn't been said? The food is good but not amazing, and for the price I can't complain. I think the secret ingredient in the soups is salt. As an odd side note I've noticed a massive gender bias for who likes Zupas. If you ask a guy what they think they say, "Yeah... It's pretty good." If you ask a girl they say, "OMG!!! I FREAKING LOVE THAT PLACE!!!1 Me and my mom and my sisters go all the time!!!" So yeah, pretty good and even when packed they rush you through the line even if you don't know what's happening. I like the Chicken Enchilada Chili and Turkey Bacon Avocado if you can't decide what to get. And while we're on the subject, DON'T get in line till you know what you want. If there is one place you don't want to be indecisive then this is it; even when you know what you're doing you can get confused they rush you through so fast. Plus the "Lunch Group Girls" behind you will be freaking out, "Hurry up and order! It's all good! OMG I Love it! GO-GO-GO!!!"
