I have always been super happy with their food! I personally only ever get a burrito, they do those very well! Barbacoa pork is my go-to, lots of flavor! ... though the other meat choices have never disappointed. They are fast, have a good location, has a outdoor patio for good weather days. Clean place. If I dig deep down i can find a complaint or two... The sour cream they use is - for lack of a better word - watery. Tastes fine, but it can make the burrito leaky. Also, if you aren't experienced in eating out of the burrito wrapping, some people may struggle... fortunately both of things things are avoidable. Dont order the sour cream. and for the other problem, learn to eat from the wrapper, or just put it in your basket and eat it with a fork. ... oh, and i still think the price is a little high, but it is comparable to Chipotle'.

Originally going to the location in central Holladay, this place has always been a favorite of mine. I find myself going to eat here for lunch about twice a week. Burrito, Bowl and Soup are my faves. Barbacoa pork is a great mild-spicy meat and their steak is meaty (unlike some places that leave a lot of fat on it) I lived in Ohio for awhile and had Chipotle, and it was the best I could get, and still didn't meet the taste of Barbacoa. Burritos are bigger and the meat has more flavor. Try the soup on a rainy day, I think you'll enjoy the treat.

Beef barbacoa. The spices and the flavor make this the best beef barbacoa I've come across. Maria's taco cart at RC Willy is the closest yet but everything else is a sad fail. I prefer the burrito bowl or salad bowl, but you can't go wrong. I don't understand why people go to chipotle or cafe gross-o. One thing I like in addition to the flavor & noticeable freshness, it's local and long precedes other local companies who were copy cats. I can't blame them though, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I had a terrible customer service experience here the other day. I haven't really eaten here before so I wanted to try a small salad. The associate gave me a large salad and when I asked for a small she stated that she had already 'made' the salad (she put rice on it). She was really rude about it. Also, I asked for a receipt and she wouldn't give me one. On top of that, the salad was gross. I would not have complained if it was a smaller size since I was just trying it. And there would have actually been enough dressing for the small. Ended up throwing away the majority. Do yourself a favor, drive down the street to cafe rio. Less money, Larger portions, and better customer service. Will never eat at this location.

Food is consistently good. I personally like it better than Costa Vida but not as much as Cafe Rio. The mango chicken is good. Lightly marinated, juicy and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. Staff is friendly an knowledgeable, good for a quick southwest fix.

I LOVE Barbacoa. It's my favorite local haunt for a quick and filling meal. That said, this is easily the worst location in Salt Lake. The food area is short and chaotic, they give incredibly small portions (whereas the 9th and 9th location excels), and I have often had the individual taking my payment forget items (chips, salsa, drinks) while being distracted for no reason at all. After my last visit I swore I'd never go to this location again. It's an absolute mess and not worth the hassle.

I live in Olympus Cove and I have eaten here a handful of times because friends have wanted too. Food is good but nothing is amazing. I like the fact they have queso but its cold every time i get it so its like cheese whiz. They are chinsey on the toppings too even if you tell them you want more. The place is nice and cozy. Great big patio over looking the valley.

I eat at Barbacoa just about every other week. Sometimes I eat at the Wasatch Blvd location, but most often at the Ft Union location. The food and service between the 2 is virtually identical. I have also eaten at the downtown location and it seemed different - both in food and service. I prefer Barbacoa over Cafe Rio or Chipotle. The meats and Cafe Rio taste to me like they have brown sugar added. Chipotle tastes as good as cardboard. I prefer the flavors in Barbacoa's meats and I've tried most of them. I typically get their Burrito Bowl, Burrito Salad, or Burrito Soup. I used to get plain Burritos but eventually decided that not having a plate/bowl or eating utensils in conjunction with the size of their Burritos makes for a big, freakin' mess. You can order online so that your food is ready when you arrive - awesome when you're in a hurry. There is a patio at the Wasatch location which sits right next to the road so plan to shout your conversations over the traffic noise. There are also, strangely, a lot more patrons at the Wasatch location who seem to be okay with letting their children run laps while they, themselves are eating. It's remarkably annoying to have someone else's messy-faced child, staring at you from the edge of your table while their parents are across the room enjoying a peaceful meal. Fortunately Barbacoa makes take-out a breeze.

The food is ok. Their ice tea is fake and icky. If you get the burrito, they nickel and dime you on everything you add, especially the guacamole. The soft tacos are where the value is. They are adequate in size, the price is descent, and you can add guacamole and vegetables without adding a buck or two.

We ate at this Barbacoa for dinner the other night. Maybe I was just really hungry or maybe the burrito was just delicious, either way the food was great. The restaurant staff was friendly and served our food up fast. For a hungry, work weary traveler this place was great.

Now it has been quite a while since I have been to this location. I haven't yet been back since that fateful day in 2011 when we went to Barbacoa for their gluten free options. When a business touts on their gluten free food n their website, you would expect that the employees would understand you when you tell them you need gluten free options. There is a whole song and dance that needs to happen. Ok maybe there is no song but the dance includes washing your hands, changing utensils, and making sure there is no cross-contamination. Chipotle does this well but are not certified gluten free. They did none of that there and my wife got sick from it. I enjoyed the food though. Hopefully they have changed their ways. Will have to give them another shot.

A great place to grab some fresh Mexican food before heading up Millcreek Canyon for a hike. There are Barbacoa restaurants all over the Salt Lake Valley, however this is the one I seem to frequent most often due to its location. The food is great, similar menu to Chipolte, and reasonably priced.

Good, inexpensive food served by a surly, clueless staff who may or may not speak any English what-so-ever. Get food to go!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
