Just went back to the Desert Thistle for a two day stay. Loved it more than the first time 3 years ago. Lots of good conversation and leaving feels like I am leaving family. Good family too, not the crazy cousins that you run from but still keep managing to find you. Make sure you show up early and book more than one night which will give you more time to slow down and enjoy the beauty and character of this BNB.

We had an amazing time at the Desert Thistle. The hosts, Maureen and Warner were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Warner upgraded us to the Anniversary Suite because it was vacant for the night (and he didn't even know that we really were celebrating our anniversary). The pool was great. The water was the perfect tempurature for a summer afternoon in the desert (meaning cool but not shocking). Breakfast was really nice with a lot of variety. We enjoyed chatting with the hosts and other guests (from Switzerland and Australia) for a good long while on our way out the door. Overall, a very nice place that I would highly recommend.

We were headed to Zion with our dog and luckily stumbled onto Desert Thistle after finding everything in Springdale to be sold out. It was a great find! This place was clean, quaint and super close to Zion- about a 7 minute drive. Maureen and Warner were great hosts and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be returning!

This is a great B&B. We booked this place because Springdale (a bit closer to Zion National Park) was all booked up except. No matter, Rockville is only 7 minutes away from Zion -- 10 minutes if you're driving by a noob tourist who insists on driving 20 mph. The hosts are relaxed, laid-back, friendly, and just try to make life easy for you. You want to check in later? No problem. You want to check out later? No problem if the room is available. You want to bring wine glasses out to the pool and drink wine? Not a problem. They were very accommodating and gracious -- super-wonderful and trustworthy hosts. Our room was very comfy. Sateen sheets! Some fancy shower gadget that I never figured out how to work -- and I've got a PhD. There's a huge living room lounge area, a pool, filtered water -- this place couldn't be more perfect.

My girlfriend and I stayed here as we were passing through the area. The hosts are extremely gracious and go the extra mile to make you feel as if you are at home and comfortable. The house and the bedroom we stayed in are decorated extravagantly and tastefully. I highly recommend staying at the Desert Thistle.

Sometimes as hard and sincerely as one tries... things just don't work out. This was my fiancee and my experience at the Desert Thistle a few weeks ago. We stayed two, non consecutive nights in mid-May. The first thing to go wrong was access to a suitcase we had left with Warner while camping out on the narrows. Because of a family emergency, Warner had to leave for several hours on a Saturday afternoon which just so happened to coincide with when my fiance and I emerged from the wilderness. While Warner left a key for us to get into our room, he inadvertently forgot to leave our suitcase which had all of our clean clothes inside. Not a gigantic deal as my we just rewore the clothes we had worn two days earlier on the trip over. Although we didn't have clean clothes, Maureen and Warner were nice enough to upgrade our room the second night to the couples suite which had a hot tub inside. We were so excited about this as nothing would have felt better after a 16 mile narrows hiking trip through cold, muddy water (than soaking in a warm jacuzzi). Unfortunately, I think because they were rushed with the family emergency someone forgot to clean the tub as it was pretty dirty (soap residue on the walls and lots of hair in the bottom) when we arrived. All of this said, the Inn itself is very clean and cozy. The atmosphere is very homely. I especially loved the porch room where my fiancee and I spent a few hours watching humming birds fly by with beautiful red mountains on the horizon. I know that both Maureen and Warner are very kind and sincere people and felt very badly about our experience. I got the feeling that for some reason the heavens aligned in a particular way and things just went awry. It happens to me at work sometimes when everything goes wrong despite my best intentions. Maureen called and left me a very contrite voice mail after our stay expressing how sorry she was for our bad luck/timing and hoped we'd come back for a repeat visit. I hope I can take her up on this offer so I'll have a chance to update this yelp review with a 5* one.

When you're visiting Zion and not looking to camp in the park, you NEED to stay at this B&B. The hosts are the friendliest couple I have ever stayed with, the room was clean and spacious, and the location is super close to the park entrance without having to deal with the crowds of people. Stay here! And ask to see their giant Newfoundland dog, Charlie. She's a sweetie!
