What an amazing experience of cuisine! The empanadas were incredible... All three of them were so fabulous! The best sandwich was Ave Palta. The avocado was so fresh and light! The best dessert ever was the Manjar Empanada. The prices are so reasonable! The service was great, even though it's a little unconventional. You walk in and order from the wife and then they call your name and you grab your food! The entire experience was TOP NOTCH and I will be back again!!!!!

Small, self-service, and an absolutely awesome churrasco palta. The jugo de durazno? Incredible.

3.5 Stars. I saw the reviews, and figured I had to give this place a try. Upon walking in, a quaint little restaurant lay in front of me. 4 or 5 tables tops, this place maybe seats 20 at full capacity. I am not too familiar with chilean food, so I had no idea what to get except for what was recommended on yelp. After looking through a few reviews, I decided on the steak and cheese sandwich. At $9.99, I expected a little more. I understand that steak is expensive, but it wasn't anything that blew me away. There were a few flavors, but not enough to really separate itself from a lot of the other meals I have had anywhere else. However, My buddy ordered a cheese empanada and it was fantastic. Fried to perfection, the cheese was so flavor I couldn't even handle it. It melts in your mouth, and the whole thing tastes a little sweet. In fact, if I ever go back to this restaurant I will probably just order 2 or 3 empanadas and call it a day. The service here is interesting. You sit down - order your food, then they call you at the front when it is time to come pick it up. There isn't really any waiter service in between, so i'm not sure if you tip or what when your meal is over but I tipped a buck or two on my $10.00 meal. The Verdict - I think I need to try a few other meals, and a few other chilean restaurants before I can really give any solid recommendations about this place. It wasn't bad, and I was in and out of there very quickly given it was the noon rush hour. Come give this place a shot, and let me know what you think

We came on our way back from Vegas, and it was my fault we came in right as they were closing. I'm torn because it was a very rushed experience and I'm sure they are very nice, but the husband was not very friendly. He said they were closed but there were empanadas left that we could buy. I'd assume at the end of the day they should give a discount for the leftover food to get rid of it but whatever. $5 for an empanada is pretty steep, but it was delicious. I really wanted to try the steak avocado sandwich which was $10. The wife, however, was very amicable and accommodating. When we paid, the husband asked if we had cash instead of card probably due to the charges they incur. Fine. When he gave me my change I told him he could use it for my friend's change so that he didn't get as much change back. This somehow completely confused him and he got very frustrated when it clearly wasn't our fault. I'm sure a lot of people come here and I want to give it a second try if I'm ever in the area, which is probably only when I'm on my way back from Vegas.

This place is a real novelty. I've never had Chilean food before, but I had to give his little hole in the wall a try. It's decorated really cute and was very clean inside. I was greeted with a smile by the couple who run the place. I got the Churrasco Palta which is the steak sandwich, and the Melted Cheese Empanada. It took quite a while to get my food, but it was worth the wait. First off, the steak sandwich was really good, but not amazing. The steak on it was delicious but it had so much guacamole that you could hardly taste it. The bread that it's served on is REALLY good. All in all I really enjoyed the sandwich. It came with a side of fries and fry sauce that was 10/10. Now, here's where my meal really shined. I got the "Melted Cheese Empanada" and gosh was that delicious. It had what tasted like mozzarella cheese melted in a fried pastry like coating. Words can't describe how delicious it was, it really melted in my mouth. I will be going back to Pantrucas as soon as I can, can't wait to try other things on the menu as well!

This little mom and pop eatery has four star food from Chile which should make this restaurant a stand out. The problem that drops it three stars? They haven't got the hang of moving from the home kitchen to a business. We come in, and a young gal, possibly the daughter, is cleaning grease out of the vents over the counter that extend out from the fryer. Not the thing to be doing during the lunch hour (and a little gross, sorry, Pop). That the owner bears a bit of a resemblance to Bill Murray is kind of funny in that you might think you're on Candid Camera. Surely he couldn't have you sit down, come to take your order, say there's no table service, and oh, could you make sure you bus your own dishes at the end? Be one or the other pop, but not both. Get a waiter. They're worth it, and you can bus the dishes and not do that half-service thing with the customers. Ordering was very weird. He came around and took four tables orders, including ours. Their current menu sports dishes with no prices. He writes down our order. Mom cooks linearly, so each order is made in its own time, which, if you have the time, is cool, but if you don't can be a drag if you're the tail of the ordering dog, as we were. When the food did come out, pop forgot two of our items. When we let him know, and asked him to take the other items off his reply was "That's ok. It's enough food anyway." The restaurant is quaint but it has lots of edges. The walls here and there look inconsistently painted, the hanging "vineyard" doesn't quite make the ceiling less dodgy, and while I'm sure that they got a great deal on the refrigerated case without the plate that covers up the refrigeration unit, staring at it is ugly, and it, along with zero presentation, makes the nice desserts in the case look so unappealing they're not worth a try. Likewise the piles of dishes on the front prep counter are a big no-no. If the young lady is helping, let her keep those coming to the back for washing. The food itself was very good. My bread was great. The beef with shredded canned green beans on my sandwich was okay, although something less salt-filled would be better. The steak was bad-ass. We had ordered an empanada and soup to try it for this review, but, as pop said, it was too much food. Mom needs some help back there to speed things up, both in terms of her having some things prepared that make it move faster, and having a prep/line cook to help her pick up the pace. For what they charge, it is not a luxury, it is a necessity if they want to stay open. Last came the check. We haven't seen any prices yet, as they took them off the board. Pop works up the bill on his check book, never presents it, and tells us the total. I guess we have to take his word on how much everything costs. Nothing that an afternoon with Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible could cure.

If you love Chilean food, this place is great. This place is run by a Chilean family from Santiago and is a fairly small but very nice place. I took some of my in-laws there who had never tried Chilean food before. I recommended some dishes and they absolutely loved them. They left saying that this was a place they'd have to eat at again. The food was good, the service was friendly, and they even had a kids meal for the little ones we went with. Overall a great experience. I only wish they had a little more variety in their Chilean food. I was hoping they would have a good pastel de choclo, but no suck luck.

Delicious food and delicious prices! My husband and I stopped by after several recommendations from reputable foodie friends. Totally worth the stop! The host and hostesses are spirited and kind - upfront that we came in at a very busy time and that it would be a few minutes before we got the food. I appreciated the honesty. The food was worth the wait!! We had the steak sandwich, salad, peach juice, and ham and cheese empanadas. They were flavorful, not greasy, and so satisfying!! The owners stayed late to chat with us and were delightful! A true gem of a mom & pop shop that deserves our support!!

  • Chris H.

The food was amazing! I had the churrasco palta sandwich and it was so great. They make the bread there. The empanadas were also way good. Expect a long wait because it's just the owner and wife who do it all!

Would have earned a 5 star had they not run out of rice over an hour before closing. My son and I ordered the steak/avocado sandwich & fried fish platter (daily special). The fish and side salad were the best I've had in a long time and the fries (no rice) fine considering they looked like the frozen/krinkle cut variety from your local grocery store. The Mango juice tasted fresh and was chilled perfectly. 5 star taste but don't expect 5 star service. This cute Mom & Pop shop has you pick up and return your plates to their counter since they appear to have only two employees (Mom & Pop). Not a big deal though considering the size of the establishment (4-5 tables).

Favorito place to eat. I haven't had hotdogs like the ones here since I was a kid. Also the empanadas are to kill, and the fresh fruit juices are the best I've ever had. Personally it's my favorite

  • Jason B.

Here is a near perfect sandwich. The bread - it's crunchy on the outside, and light in the middle. Not too heavy, and it's plain amazing. Meat - flank steak with some light seasoning, grilled, and still soft. Plants - sometimes it's pretty much plain avocado, and sometimes it's a little more like guacamole. I think it depends on the how the avocado tasted before seasoning, but so far they've never provided me bad plant matter. Eat - slowly. Enjoy it.

After hearing so much about this place, I finally got to have lunch at this place one recent Friday when I found myself in Utah county. I'd never had Chilean food before and I'm a sucker for these family run type places, so it was all right up my alley. We started with some ham and cheese empanadas, which were tasty. For our entree, I ordered the pork sandwich and my husband got the steak and avocado one. We each had half of both sandwiches. The pork was solid, but the steak was the clear favorite here: nicely seasoned on some wonderful homemade bread. I wish I could have gotten rice with my sandwich instead of fries, but that's just the part of me that's trying to be healthy talking. The fries were delightful. The steak sandwich was very popular at our table, but one person order the roasted chicken that was on the specials menu and enjoyed it very much. Prices are not bad and the service is friendly. They were a bit slammed when we were there because someone had ordered a large take out order. So the wait was a bit long but not a huge deal. Overall, I was very happy with my experience here and would love to come back and try some of the other intriguing things on the menu.

This place is splendid. The hubster served a mission in Chile, and he says it's legit Chilean. I say it's legit delicious. I love the churrasco palta - a steak sandwich with avocado and tomatoes, on yummy bread. The steak is high quality and the sandwich is served with wonderful fries. They have fresh fruit juices that are to die for. My favorite has been the mango so far. The only negative is they keep odd hours, and the service can sometimes be a little slow. But they're a mom and pop place with made-to-order food, so I can cut them slack. It's totally worth it.

Amazing food all around. The sandwiches are my goto though. Wonderful people and service as well.

Make sure you bring your passport. The minute you take your first bite of the Churrasco Palta (Steak & Avocado Sandwich) you will be in Chile. The sandwich bread is almost crispy on the outside, and as soon as you get through that outer layer, it just melts into the most perfect sandwich in town. This entire experience was amazing. The setting is about as authentic as you can get. Small indoor seating area, about 8 tables, very Chilean decorations. The proprietors, a Ma & Pa duo, come out to take your order, and after that it is counter-service. We had some empanadas, and they look like they came out of a Chilean Foodie magazine. They were absolutely perfect. Cooked to perfection, and very flavorful. And at a great price. (Wish I had gotten some to go right about now) There is plenty of parking out front, but be aware that they have somewhat odd hours. Closed Sunday and Monday, and from 3-5 in between lunch and dinner, "to make more bread". #worth This place single-handedly gives the Provo food scene a standard to rise to. I will be back here, because this food is "serious business"

  • Anna S.

Empanadas are yummy but their sandwiches are delicious. The bread is baked to perfection.

Love this place. Fantastic Chilean food made by an awesome couple from Chile. Authentic, home made, delicious food. You pay a little more, but worth it in my opinion. My favorite meal is a cheese empanada, fresh fruit juice (big enough to share), and the churrasco palta sandwich and fries. Go! You won't regret it.

  • Devin B.

The food was great. What was even better than the food was the couple who run the place. They are from Chile and have been running the restaurant about 10 years. They were very personable and would speak to the customers individually. We went on a busy evening and they made sure we were okay while we waited and afterwards thanked us for waiting and enjoying our meal. It sort if felt like going to grandmas house, in a great way. The fresh juices are also great. My favorite was the pineapple juice. It tastes like a fresh pineapple had just been whipped up and nothing like the store bought pineapple juice. Pro tip: if you want the oven cooked empanadas (I can't remember the official name) you have to call ahead a couple days. I hear those are much better than the fried ones but they need time to prepare.

I don't yelp often, but when I do, I really mean it. My husband and I came for dinner on Valentine's Day and it was amazing! He had the fried fish with a spring salad and rice. It was some of the best fish we have ever had, and we are picky. I had the churrasco palto and a cup of bean soup. The s andwich was delicious and the soup was sweet, salty, beany, and well seasoned. We also had fresh juices, which were perfect accompaniments to our meals. We'll be back!

  • Karen C.

I thought the good was excellent. I ordered the steak sandwich with avocados and tomatoes, while my daughter ordered the fish special. Then we shared our meals with each other. Both were delicious! The owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and personable. Loved eating here and will probably come back when we are in the Provo area.

I have been going here for years and absolutely love it. The people are wonderful! I love their beef and cheese empanadas. They also have delicious fresh pineapple juice! I love going here. The hours are difficult, and have been an annoyance through the years but they recently posted hours they stick to.

I am from northern California. IO am bout 2 hours away from the closest Chilean restaurant. It stinks! Luckily when I got to Utah to visit my sister, we get to visit Pantrucas. YUMMY! The empanadas de Pino, remind me of being in Vina del Mar. I loved the pastel de choclo as well. Please try it out! You wont be sorry!

  • Dallin P.

Excellent food!! The momentum that they are building on yelp maybe catching up to them. The owners seemed a little frazzled with the amount of traffic they had tonight, but they handled it well. With a few more staff members this restaurant will be running smoothly. Overall I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the delicious food.

  • Camilia L.

Wonderful hole in the wall place!! The wife and husband run it as if you were in their country. The food and juice are delicious!! It is all made after ordering. Come here to enjoy, they work as hard as they can, but if it is busy expect to wait a little bit. They are very upfront about the wait, and we enjoy it there so much! Just don't come if you are in a hurry.

    (5)
  • John W.

Fantastic!!! One of the best places to eat in Provo by far! A mom and pop place, they're the only two workers, and they're some of the nicest people you'll meet! The wait can be a bit since they are the only two working there, but the food is VERY worth the wait!!! I got the steak and eggs which was fantastic, my wife got the steak avocado and tomato sandwich which was SOOOO good, and we shared a fresh peach juice which was to die for! Also got an empanada which was delicious! We will absolutely be going back, no question!! I give it my highest recommendation!

  • Kaitlyn W.

The previous reviews were spot on! I went here after reading all the reviews on Yelp and was not disappointed! First off, you should know that you bus your own tables. This was a little strange to me, but it makes more sense when you realize that the couple who run the joint are the only people who work there. They are super cute! There was quite a crowd when we came (there's only about 5 tables total so it's easily crowded) and they kept apologizing for the long wait. But honestly the wait was like any other place on a Saturday afternoon. I got the steak, avocado, and tomato sandwich. I've never had a sandwich that good before! It was so good. It had this great lime and cilantro flavor. Really good! My husband got the steak, onions, and eggs and that was also good! Nice steak for the price, not amazing but it was a cheap price for a steak. Looking forward to when we can go again!

  • Austin S.

This mom-and-pop hidden gem will not leave you disappointed. The owner is so nice and the service is great, even though you might have to wait a bit longer than most places. The homemade bread and fresh avocado make the sandwiches melt in your mouth. The fruit juices are to die for. The only negative criticism I have is that I would've liked to have more French fries with my meal. I will definitely be back here.

Great food, but never get my order right. They always seem to forget something and then overcharge.

Went here for a Valentine's brunch coming from SLC for the first time. Being from Chile it was everything I expected in a good way!

  • Anu M.

If its family owned mom and pop store... u got me sucked. Had the delish mango juice and the chilean sea food platter with saffron rice and a very lemony salad. Best part was chatting with the owners and enjoying the breath taking view of snow capped mountains. Will be back for more!

Food was amazing a very good portion, the juice was incredible and the service was fun. They know what they are doing! I would definitely return here

What a WONDERFUL couple that owns and runs this place. They were so cheerful and kind to us and everyone at the restaurant. My wife and I ordered the Churrasco Palta, Ave Palta, Completo Italianio. My favorite was the Churrasco Palta. The food was really good. It didn't blow my mind. If you are a Chilean food and you will really like this place. I will return.

  • Alyne T.

Ummm, this place is adorable. As other reviewers have said, you should be WARNED: -You will likely have a long wait, as it is run by ONE COUPLE (who are super sweet and Chilean and lively) -The wait will be fun because the place is tiny and homey -Again, it is tiny, so not a lot of tables, but a fun experience -Hours: are kind of weird? I think they close early-ish so just plan accordingly :) FOOD: -DELICIOSO. Empanadas? Delicioso. Lentil soup? More for those who like plainer/blander food. Juices/Jugos? DELICIOSO and sooo fresh and huge. Pineapple (Pina) is the best en mi opinion. ATMOSPHERE: PERFECTO. The owners are soo nice how are they so nice they have to work all day?!?! They like, come sit at your table and hang out while they take your order! Love it. PARKING: SO EASY so much parking.

  • J W.

Everything about this place is good: the owners are friendly, the prices fair, the decor appropriate (and kinda homey and welcoming in a strip mall kind of way), and the food is excellent. I've never been to Chile and thus can't comment on its authenticity. What matters to me is that it tastes good, and it does. Well portioned and seasoned, plated with care but not fussiness, Pantrucas gets it all correct. As others have mentioned, the juice is superb and reason enough to go. But we have yet to try anything that was less than delicious.

  • Ross S.

Food This was my first experience with Chilean food and it was excellent. The fresh peach drinks and the currasco palta were amazing. Honestly the perfect blend of ingredients and textures. The homemade bread was also very good. Service I have rarely ever experienced such warm and sincerely great service. Doesn't get better than this. Atmosphere It's a smaller place. Very nice and clean. Casual, but intimate. Friendly.

  • Kember B.

A really fun experience, the owners are both Chilean. It's a great hole in the wall type place, definitely fun if you want to try something new. From what I have heard, it is pretty close to authentic Chilean food. Seriously though, try the juice it's delicious!

  • David B.

Located in an unassuming strip mall Pantrucas is owned and operated by a hilarious husband and wife duo make who make absolutely great food and provide a wonderful experience. Churrasco Palta is my favorite and you have to try the fresh fruit juices. I only get to eat there a handful of times in a year but it has become a tradition l when I fly into Utah for business to make Pantrucas my first stop when I leave the airport and my last stop before I fly out.

  • Ali K.

I adore this little place. It's unpretentious, the owners are so sweet and the food is well-prepared. I'm a cheapskate, so when I order a drink you know it's good-- I love the peach and pineapple juices. My only qualm is the lack of vegetarian entrees, though I'm fine with just the delicious soup and a cheese empanada.

    (5)
  • Emily W.

My boyfriend called this place "the most adorable restaurant I've ever been to" and I have to agree. The sandwiches and empanadas were wonderful, the watermelon juice refreshing and the couple thats runs the place.... Well, adorable. Definitely a great stop on our road trip.

  • Maira C.

Some of the food was good but the service was awful! This place is very poorly run. There is literally only 5 tables and the 3 employees in the kitchen can't handle them. When we got there, we had to go up to the front to order since no one was at the front. The guy told us that they didn't have service at the table so we had to pick our own food and that we had to clean up our own table when we were done. Which I don't mind ordering at the register or even bringing my plates, but the other lady running the place was extremely rude about it! We get called to pick up our food 1 plate at a time a couple of cups at a time here and there so I was constantly getting up to get our stuff. When we were ready to pay I go up to the lady and ask her for our check to pay and she says, Well give me a min and are you going to pick up your plates? And I'm like yes he already told us to. I start cleaning up our own table and I see she looks like she is not too busy to give me my check so I go up to the front and try to pay again. She looks at me and says alright here is your check but is your husband going to bring the rest of the stuff? And I say, yes we'll get that in a min. Which at this point there was only like 2 cups left that my husband and my daughter were still drinking from. As I am taking my card out to pay the lady yells out my husbands name ( the guy asked us for our name when we got there) and says hey Jon can u finish cleaning up the table?! Like what the heck? I just don't think it's ok at all to first, have no service at all at the front when u have all 3 of your employees working in the kitchen cooking for 3 tables and then, you treat your customers like employees for a service that you are paying them to do! Also when we were waiting for our food which also took forever, 3 different groups of people came in and left since no one was at the front to greet or give any service to them. We will never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone! I rather stay at home and cook some hot dogs with guacamole in them that don't take that long to cook. Terrible place!

    (1)
  • Pauline W.

Delicious! Super authentic and I imagine Chile food would taste amazing like the food here. A bit pricey but everything is cooked in front of you. Served hot and fresh. The juices are hand made and on point!

I always have the steak and salad for lunch. The dressing is great with a sharp citrus bite. I try to low carb so haven't tried the bread but it looks delightful. Small selection of pastries also.

We had" Empanadas Pino", Which was a large, seemly homemade flour tortilla stuffed with ground beef, a little bit of hardboiled egg, a black olive, raisins and then baked. Came with a kind of pico de gallo sauce. Lentil soup, eh pretty bland so I took a couple bites and pushed it to the side to make sure I could eat more of the" pastel de cocolo"* AND the steak sandwich both very delicious.* Not sure if spelled correctly* The pastel was like a meat pie ground beef, raisins, kind of like empanada stuffing but with sweet corn type mixture on top. I really loved that. I regret not having the juice, looked good. Also .....yes the wait thing is true, and you serve yourself and grab your own food at the counter. Also the owner will direct you to sit down and wait your turn, but its not really a big deal. Don't be in a hurry if you want to enjoy this place. I only docked one star because I enjoy having the option to add salt and pepper to my taste, I like a little more salt than average. Would definitely go back.

Love this place, it's how Chilean food should be. It is authentic Chilean food with better quality ingredients. The couple that runs the restaurant is really nice and it's fun to talk to them. I recommend the churrasco and spring for the real fruit juice.

  • Matthew K.

Yes. Come eat here. A great Chilean couple run this place. We tried the churrasco palto, lomito palto, ham and cheese empanada, and the fish plate. The simplest and least expensive dish that we got was the ham and cheese empanada. It was super delicious. The crust was fantastic and the ham cheese were very savory. The churrasco palto sandwich was really good. Great bread, well seasoned steak, and creamy avacado. Yum. The fried fish plate was good. Fresh fish with a tasty batter, rice, and some salad. The lomito palto was OK. It was more bland than the churrasco, but still A OK. Also, as others have noted, the juices are really good. Seems pricey at $4 but it is fresh and you get about a quart.

  • Brittney C.

Everything here is SOOOO good. Empanadas are crispy and delicious. Churrasco palta is fantastic. And you must try the completos. AND the alfajor. What can I say? It is all spot on amazing. The folks at Pantrucas are originally from Chile, so you know you're going to get the good stuff. I always go back to visit whenever I'm in Provo.

  • Charlie G.

The food is delicious and you get true Chilean hospitality. You will most likely have a longer than normal wait for food and the ambient is a bit different as it is a smaller restaurant. So be prepared. My wife loves the fish special with spring salad. I'm a fan of the churrasco and the fresh juices are great. It can get a bit pricey for a family but I'd rather spend my money on some good food and support a local business than on a chain restaurant with mediocre food.

Perfection. The juice is incredible and is a must have. I'd pay $10 for it if I had to.

  • David G.

If you go to Pantrucas and don't order one of their excellent juices there's gotta be something wrong with you. The owners are super nice, super friendly and make great food. Everything is great but I love the empanadas. One note - avoid peak times like Friday night. There's only two of them and while they try their best, if it gets busy you could be waiting a long time for your food. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars.

    (4)
  • Johnathan N.

This restaurant is fantastic. I've been three or four times and it's never disappointed. People complain about the wait. But honestly that's how Chile is. Its a place to relax and wait for some good food. That's what we got used to while living in chile. So honestly I won't complain at all. But, like other reviewers have said, don't expect to just walk in and walk out in 30-40 mins. It will take a while to get your good. But it's been delicious every single time and the couple who runs it are super nice and have always taken care of us. They gave us some free bread one time because I told them that the bread had always been one of my favorite things in Chile so they indulged me. That's how they are. So, come, prepare for a wait and enjoy the atmosphere.

  • Terd F.

Doesn't matter if you like Chilean food or even know what it is.....this is the best place hands down! The empanadas are better than authentic handmade empanadas I had in Argentina. The completo is awesome...highly recommended as well. I would drive from any part of the state just to get this food. The owners are SUPER nice! Authentic food, excellent company, great quaint place. Can't recommend enough.

Worth the trek into Provo from highway 15. This was easily the best food experience of our road trip. How often do you stop somewhere where the only two people running it are the incredibly welcoming and nice owners? He sat down to take our orders, asked our names, chatted a bit and let is take our orders without putting us off. We had peach juice that for 4 bucks was way bigger than I expected. Plenty for two people. The cup of lentil soup was delicate, perfectly seasoned, healthy and delicious. We tried two empenadas (beef, ham and cheese) the crust was PHENOMENAL! and the fillings were great. The sandwich is on thin and crispy homemade bread with tons of avocado and is great. To top off the killer food, charming interior, great service, and affordable prices, they have a fantastic dessert case. I will go back anytime I am within 100 miles of Salt Lake City. A true gem.

Quaint and satisfying. Despite the lack of space/seating and time it took for the food to come, I had a good experience here. The owners were very welcoming and gracious. They are passionate about providing a good experience. This was my first experience with Chilean food. It was simple, yet delicious. I would have enjoyed a slightly larger portion. The juice was great, but not worth the price. Worth a try.

I love this place so much. It reminds me of eating in people's homes in South America on my mission, although I did not serve in Chile. I have tried almost everything on the menu and haven't found anything that I didn't like. That said, the first thing you should try is a completo italiano, which is a footlong hot dog on a home baked roll topped with avocado(a lot of it), tomato, and mayo. Other favorites include the fried eggplant, pastel de choclo, and of course, any one of their amazing so-cold-it's-almost-frozen fruit juices. Man, I'm making myself hungry. Even if you hate food (what are you doing reading restaurant reviews on yelp?), go there for the experience of talking to the lovely couple that owns the restaurant. Overall, this is one of the hidden gems of Utah Valley, and eating there is an experience that you won't regret.

Very good Chilean food. Their Churrascos were better (not bigger mind you) than any Churrasco I ever had in Chile. Get anything Italiano style (avocado, mayo, and tomato) it's sooo good. The juices were also amazing. Fresh peach juice was like a smoothie. It's a little on the expensive side and the portions aren't Chilean enough, but the food is great.

You will never taste anything more heavenly than the fresh fruit juice in this lifetime. That's a fact. The sandwiches made with fresh bread are amazing. If you make it here in the few hours they are open, it's more than just worth the trip. WOW.

Everything here is fantastic. Family-run and homemade everything, including bread. The juice is really great as well! A fun find here in Provo that's a must-try.

Important update - no choripan here. I came in for some and they informed me that it didn't sell well enough to keep on the menu. So what you see on the chalkboard is what you get...if they haven't run out. Also be warned they CLOSE EARLY relative to other restaurants. That said, this place is wonderful and makes awesome food. FYI "Chilean Salad" is marinated sliced tomatoes, with this wonderful balance of garlic, herbs, oil and vinegar. The thing that surprised me that most is that, in my ignorance, I expected some heat. You know, like the Mexicans do. However, not one dish have I found to be spicy. Flavorful yes, but not spicy. Just a note if you're not a fan of heat and were wary.

A great taste of Chile! I spent some good time down in Santiago, Chile and can say that the food they serve at Pantrucas is spot on because the owners are from Chile! They have made the food a little more glamorized than what you would find on the streets of Chile but the flavor and quality is still awesome. The fresh fruit juices are spectacular!

I am Argentine, so I was excited about my eating experience here BUT it does not live up to all the hype. The food is okay, but the service is TERRIBLE. It takes forever for them to get to you, once they get your order it takes forever for them to bring you your food AND they are closed on random days and random times. You've been cautioned. I probably tried this place 5 times before I gave up. Not worth the headache.

I wish this place were open for longer hours. They're only open for dinner towards the end of the week, and I think they're closed Sundays & Mondays. They have a facebook page where they post the specials sometimes, and I sometimes wish I lived in the area so I can sign up to get their email specials. The $2 fruit juices were indeed tasty, but the listed price was $3.49. In any case, I preferred the cantaloupe juice over the peach. The juice had more flavor, sweetness, and texture. The owner was nice enough to give us a sample of the mango juice, which we would've ordered, but that was a bit too sour. We ordered the Chilean classic: Pastel del Choclo (sp?) it reminded me of shepard's pie, but made with meat and corn. The corn was very sweet, and the meat was perfectly seasoned. We also got the Churasco Palta, the beef with avocado on freshly baked bread. Ordered that sandwich with Fried Cauliflower, rather than the usual fries. The cauliflower was lightly breaded and seasoned, with their fry sauce, it was just tasty! We also got a beef and a ham & cheese empanada to go. I must say the beef tasted better, and had more filling. The ham & cheese looked the same size from the outside, but it was all just puffed up from the inside.

This is a tiny, family owned place. The owner is super friendly, and the food is incredible. A little pricey for the amount of food, but worth it in my opinion. The fruit juice, and homemade bread is amazing! I will be coming back

Really great place. You might have to wait awhile for your food, but mostly it's because your food is made with love. I like the empanadas. The juice is incredibly creamy and refreshing. The Churrasco Palta is very good. Such a cozy place!

The food here is delicious. It is extremely fresh, and there is good attention to detail. The food seems healthier than at most restaurants because it is really homemade. The downside is that it is slower than most places, but nothwithstanding the speed, I'd say you can't get better service anywhere. The owners are very warm and attentive, just be aware that you will have to wait a bit. It's all part of the experience.

The empanadas are crispy, flakey, good; an improved version of the kind you might buy on the street. The extra tastiness comes at a cost to your wallet, but these need to be tried so you understand what an empanada could and should taste like (regional differences aside). At least one of their soups uses squash to thicken it instead of cream. In doing so it maintains a creamy texture but has less calories and is healthier. Many of the recipes on the menu are health conscious and avoid using fatty ingredients yet maintain a taste that wouldn't make you think you were eating something so healthy. However, they do have a great assortment of fried vegetables, if that's your thing. They even have a decent vegetarian selection (considering the size of the menu). Due to the odd hours and random events (they did a catering job and so they were randomly closed) it was hard to actually get a bite here at first, however If you can get over the hurdle of being able to place an order, it is worth is. Service is considerate and charming although (as I was warned by the owner Ricardo) it may be a bit slow. However I found the timing to be within a normal sit down restaurant range and if you keep good company you won't notice the wait anyways. While this place is hard to frequent if you are a student on a budget, it would be a crime not to visit at least once. The portions may be small but they sure don't skimp on the good stuff. My sandwich that came with guacamole ACTUALLY HAD guacamole, unlike any other sandwich /burrito/ taco I have ever bought in the States. Made me feel like I was South of the border again. In conclusion, if you know good food, go here and appreciate.

Best chilean food that i've had in utah so far. I ordered a Completo and 3 empanadas, one of each. Completo consists of a hot dog, chilean style. It has mayo, avocado, tomato and a special sauce, their bread was homemade and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Empanas were also homemade, and fresh I had one of each, a cheese ham and cheese and beef. Awesome place!!!!!

This is a fantastic little gem in Provo. I have been three times now and everything I order is good. I've had a steak sandwich, the fish and chips and the steak with fries. Everything has great flavor and texture. The service can be a little slow at times, so don't go if you are in a rush. The owners are incredibly nice and always make sure you enjoy your meal. If you want to be a regular and save a little money, make sure you sign up for their e-mail list. They have specials every Thursday and notify you by e-mail.

I had a good meal thanks to Yelp. I would never have gotten here otherwise. I'll have to try it again to become a fan. My meal was just A-OK A co-worker and I went to give it a try at lunch. A lot of people love to throw the word authentic around without saying how they know it's authentic. I didn't recognize anything from my time in Chile. However, I'll admit to staying in business class hotels and eating at white tablecloth restaurants. This is obviously more like street food. That could explain everything being meat rather than seafood. Also, I expect sourcing ingredients would be tough. So, I'll just take the place on it's own merits. We both ordered the steak, fries and salad special. The salad was good. It looks and tastes suspiciously like the mixed greens from Costco. I didn't find the fries being overly salty. The steak was one of those large thin slices of meat like you see in the Mexican market. It's not obviously recognizable as a standard cut. It was marinated and had a lot of garlic. It had good tooth without being chewy. It was really tasty. I could eat it every week. I also ordered a fruit empanada. It was nicely cooked, but powered sugar could not sweeten the savory crust the cherry pie filling was put in. Maybe that's authentic, but I'd really like a sweet crust. I wouldn't mind something related closer to fruit either. I'm guessing it's just easier to use the same batter for both sweet and savory. It is important to realize you won't get a bill delivered. You need to get up and go to the register. All-in-all a bit of a mixed experience. I'll be trying it again and look forward to getting an experience I can use to raise the rating.

Be prepared to wait for a while, but it is worth it. Their juice is out of this world. I would drink their pineapple juice every day if I could. Also, the empanadas are fantastic. The couple who run the place are really sweet too. Overall, a good place for lunch if you have some time.

I can't stop going back. Truly one of Provo's hidden gems. The Fruit Juices are made from fresh fruit and make me giddy thinking of them. I love the peach, but the pineapple is close behind. I love all of their sandwiches, but the steak with cheese is the one that I dream about at night. It is so good. The meat is tender and moist with none of the weird gristle and fat that I am accustomed to find in such sandwiches. The cheese is stringy and mild with fresh herbs sprinkled on top. I need a napkin to wipe the drool off of my mouth just thinking about it. As previously mentioned, the owners are so nice and great to talk to. They love to give suggestions on favorites and have great service. I have taken many people here, and without fail they are quite pleased and swear their undying allegiance right there on the spot. Great place for a business lunch or a date. Make sure to get on their email list for really great deals

A friend introduced me to Pantrucas today and I am soooo glad he did! The Chilean sandwich I had was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time, but the highlight of our visit was owner Margarita sitting to talk with us for a few minutes. Ricardo and Margarita are awesome! Check this place out if you haven't you won't be disappointed!

This tiny little mom and pop café on Canyon Rd in Provo is indeed a hidden gem of Chilean/Chileno authenticity. Real aficionados of South American cuisine know that only city slickers bake their empanadas. Real down-home empanadas are deep fried, just like they do it at Pantrucas. We came here on a Friday night in the 6pm hour and got one of the 5 tables in the place. Though they cater to dine-in customers, they must do a lot more take out business to keep afloat financially. I used to live in Argentina and knew what to expect, but the surprise was that my wife and mother-in-law, who are much less into experimenting with other cuisines, also found choices that worked for them including beef empanadas and rotisserie chicken. I ordered 2 choripans and a beef empanada. Choripan is nothing more than a beef sausage on french bread complimented with chimichurri, a mildly spicy relish. In South America, these are sold by street vendors like at a hot dog stand in the US. In all, this quite satisfying order set me back just $11, making a very reasonable dinner. The husband/wife team have been making it work since coming to the US 11 years ago. Everything is authentic Chileno which means it also passes for Argentine and Uruguayan. Did I mention they make alfajores also? This is a truly authentic little café that provides a slice of real southern South American specialties that are hard to find anywhere in this country, and the owners run the place. I will come back anytime I'm in Provo.

When we entered this restaurant, the husband/owner greeted us with such warming enthusiasm and candor, we were instantly moved when we sat down. I'm not very familiar with Chilean food, but I absolutely LOVED the food we ate; we had sandwiches. I had something called the Churrasco Palta, which tasted similar to a torta, made with steak, avocado and tomatoes. And the bread that it was sandwiched between, they bake daily! Oh. my. word, it was amazing. There was this balsamic-like oil/vinegar-esque taste the tomatoes were mixed in; the spices used were a perfect mixture. They also serve fresh fruit juice, made when ordered. We had the mango juice, which was served in those tall carafes.. The tables were wobbly, the whole menu is scribbled on a chalkboard, the tables are all placed near a door that swings open quite frequently so you feel the cold chill from outside each time... but regardless, the food is exceptional. We do intend on returning soon. My favorite part about this place; when the husband took our orders, he took the time to write down each of our names in his book. It was sweet; he wanted to remember us.

Provo doesn't have a lot of little restaurants like this, which makes this place even better. It's small, mom & pop style, non-commercialized, authentic goodness. Everything is very fresh. The juice was amazing; a little expensive, but nonetheless amazing. Everyone should skip a time or two at Costa Vida/Cafe Rio to try this place. You might be hooked!

I love Pantrucas!!! First off, the owners (the Minonds) are some of my favorite people ever! Margarita will especially make you feel like a million bucks haha. The food is delicious too. I love the Churasco Palta which is a steak sandwich on a homemade roll with delicious avocado, tomato and onion dressing. It is so dang good! There is a chicken version too and the empanadas are delicious as well. The fresh fruit juices are delicious as well. I love this place and if you haven't been yet you have to and if you have, well it's about time to make another trip to Pantrucas haha.

oh dear. this is my new crush. p-town, you never cease to amaze me. smack dab by the lil' days market on canyon road is one of the best kept secrets of provo. (not too secret though, because they have been around for 4 years and are still keeping it real!) after reading a couple of reviews, i figured today was the day to test this baby out. boy howdy, i was not disappointed. first off, ricardo and margarita are 2 of the most charming people i've ever met. they were so sweet and funny, and i loved every minute of being there and eating their food. i heard so many great things about their fresh juices that i had to have one. so my s-i-l and i got the peach and the mango. both were amazing that i think i am gonna be craving that juice every day now. for our dishes, i got 2 beef empanadas (ricardo suggested cheese, but i don't really like a ton of cheese. i know. i'm weird. or just asian. dairy is not our thing.) with fries, and my s-i-l got the churrasco palta--steak, tomato, and avocado on fresh-baked bread. one word: delectable. portions were the right size. everything was fresh and delicious. it totally hit the spot. i will be sure to go back and try out a few other dishes and perhaps a dessert of two. as other people have mentioned, they email you deals if you leave them your email address. ricardo just gave me the heads up what day this week they would have a deal on their fresh juice, so i just told him i would be back on thursday. so when you're done reading this review, just head on over and feel the love from this chilean duo.

Well, I'm not as high on this place as most other reviewers.Majority have given it 5 stars, and minority gave it 4. I give it a 3. Why, well for one, when I walked in there was one other person in the place. So I'm thinking, if this place was such a fabulous place, it would be hopping! It wasn't. It was straight up 1:00 pm when I walked in. I know not exactly the 12:00 lunch hour, but there's always spillover lunchers like myself. Still, 1:00 is relatively considered lunch time if you ask me. At any rate, I started looking at the menu that was on this sort of chalk board thing on the wall, and the owner seen me, and pretty much demanded that I take a seat at a table and look at the menu while seated. At this point he did not even know if I was going to dine in, or order take out. I was there to stay for my meal so I didn't really have a problem sitting, it was just a little weird that he kind of ordered that I sit down. I observed the menu for a short time, none of it really jumped out at me, it was small, and for what it was, there was not a lot of descriptive words interpreting each item. Being a different type of cuisine, a newbie like myself, needs a little more descriptive menu guidance. The lunch specials were listed on a stand up easel, but lacked description. I did ask the woman, that came to take my order, to clarify a few menu items, including those listed on the lunch special board. I settled for a "steak" sandwich, which was about the only sandwich choice, you just had to chose a different variety (of what amounted to) condiments you wanted on it, such as avocado, beans??, (yes beans). and a few other slightly odd combinations. I chose the sandwich with steak, avocado, and some type of Chilean marinade type spread. I also ordered it with a side of fries. Still not knowing what really to expect from this sandwich, I waited a little longer that I thought may have been ordinarily normal, for what I eventually got. Remind you, that by this time I was the only one in the small restaurant, so I should have rbeen the main and only focus in preparing my meal. Perhaps had there been a crowd, I'm not so sure the guy would have been polished enough as a chef/cook to cook and run the pass very efficiently. So my plate came and it pretty much looks identical to the one picture below, with fries. It was on this flat bread type of "bun" sort of thing. The only thing I could compare it to would be a Mexican torta, but still had it's own unique look and shape. I will say one thing about the fries, -Way Too Salty! I mean I like to salt my fries if needed, but these had salt overload! Now the sandwich was kind of a new creature to me. I hadn't had one quite like this before, so I had to observe it for a bit. I didn't quite know how to begin eating it, in fact, I was issued a knife and a fork with teh meal, so I didn't know if I was to use the knife and fork and cut it up and eat it bite by bite with the fork, or was I to pick it up and eat it like you would normally eat a sandwich. Inevitably, my American heritage came through, and I said to myself, NO FORK ALLOWED! I did use the knife to slice it in half first. That made it a little easier to sink my teeth into. So, I'm eating it, and although it was pretty tasteful, I was thinking that it (at least the steak) should be a little bit warmer. I don't know what the chef had in mind, but I think he may have been trying to make it a warm sandwich, but did not warm the bread, and the avocado and tomatoes cooled it off pretty quickly. I eventually finished it off, an by then the owners were busy talking to what appeared to to be a family member of very close friend, who had come in, and they could clearly see that I had finished my meal, the plate was even pushed to the opposite side of the table. The didn't get the drift, and I even began to wonder if they were ever going to bring me my check, or was I to go to the counter and ask for it, and them pay??? Too many questions about the place and not enough simple direction, either vocally from the owners, or through POS (Point of Sale) signs. That was the original problem with me upon entering the store. Was I to order at the small counter, or just sit down at a table. There was nothing indicating any of that. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll know though. Based on what the sandwich was, I should have been prepared to take some acid reducers prior to eating, because I have been tasting the sandwich the remainder of the day. All in all, I was satisfied, however, I really can't give it more than 3 stars. Sorry!

I was actually very surprised by this little place. You would think it was a hole in the wall but they actually put some real thought in creating a nice ambiance. The owners are great and sit down with you and consult with you on what you would really enjoy. I was very impressed. You have top order one of their fruit drinks -- they are amazing and very filling. I had one of their sandwich-like dishes and it was delicious. I can be pretty critical of a place if I don't like it but this place really impressed me. Unique food, great prices, great service. I would highly recommend this place if you're a professional looking for an informal lunch or a college student looking for a delicious affordable meal. Buen provecho!

A great little place. It's a true Mom and Pop shop. The food is great; very fresh and authentic Chilean. Be prepared to wait a little bit- it takes her a little time to come take your order because she knows everyone that comes in and asks them about their life. Remember to check the daily specials; you'll find great food here.

I went to Pantrucas as after readin reviews on yelp. I checked their website and conveniently there was a deal on facebook that day on sandwiches and certain juices, so I dragged my friend and we went. We both had the charrascas palta sandwich, which is steak, avocados and tomatoes on a crusty bread with fries. She had canatoloupe juice and I had orange. We were instant converts and will definitely be eating there again. The couple who own the store were great and there is so much to try. You've gotta try it!

Family-owned Chilean restaurant with wonderful sandwiches, soups, and platters. I had Churrasco Palta, fried beef strips and green pepper with avocado on a large, fresh, flat roll. It was DELICIOUS and more than I could eat in one sitting. I had a side of hot, salty fries (with fry sauce) that were also wonderful. Another person at our table ordered pineapple juice with his meal, and it was freshly blended at the restaurant and served in a large carafe. We ordered a really, really tasty dessert made up of paper-thin pastry and caramel called Alfajor de Mil Hojas. Go there just for the dessert! The restaurant was small and clean, and the husband and wife who run the place were friendly and helpful. If you're interested in South America food, you'll love this place.
