Best fish tacos and awesome service. Love this place.

We had ordered bean and cheese burritos which usually are just bean and cheese at every restaurant, however, this came with a lot of salsa inside which we did not want, the manager, Jared was very very kind and acted more than happy to help us fix this problem! I very much appreciate service like this and the food (after corrected) tasted great!

3.5 stars, and let me tell you why. Rubios is a great concept. Fast Mexican food, with a variety of options. I just have a couple of issues. I have now been here twice within the last two weeks and I've had mixed experiences. Overall, I feel like the temperature of my food when I get it is not nearly where it should be. It feels lukewarm half the time, and I personally like my food to come out hot. Last week I got Mahi Mahi tacos. The flavor is there. they are a kick in the mouth and they are delicious. I just wish they came out hot. Today I had the chicken enchiladas. These were also very very delicious, but they came out slightly cold and my rice was undercooked to the point of crunchiness. I keep coming back here for the flavor. The atmosphere is great. the prices are a little steep and my food isn't super hot, but I'll give it a few more chances.

Even though Rubios is a chain restaurant, it still deserves a solid 4 star in my opinion. The food is fantastic. I don't go anywhere else for fish tacos anymore. The original fish taco is fried to perfection and has a lot of flavor, but the gourmet shrimp taco is easily the best dish here. It has melted cheese along the entire tortilla and fresh shrimp and a sauce that is great. If you're trying to eat clean the salads here are awesome, the shrimp and bacon salad is my go to. The salsa bar has a lot of options and its self serve so you can get as much as you want. This location is always clean and the employees are nice and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Rubios in Orem, I have bought lunch from you at least once weekly for the past five months. And your consistent downfall is the spotty service. The management must be doing something wrong, becuase there is a bran new crew every few weeks, and they are pretty clueless. There are usually tons of people at the registers and cooking, but it takes a suprisingly long time to get food. And they often get my order wrong. But the fish tacos, oh my gosh. I tolerate the sketchy service and long wait times for those delicious, fresh morsels. They are the perfect incarnation of costal Mexican street tacos, minus the travelers diarrhea. Amazingly delicious. Plus, Tuesday afternoon they are just $1.50 each. Rubios, you are the indulgence I hate to love.

went in there for lunch order 2 street tacos, a few chips and salsa and a drink. $11.00. I could of went to sizzler for that. I won't go back too much money for mediocre food. needs some food safety classes. sanitation could improve. nope not eating there again.

Not a huge fan of this restaurant. We went for taco Tuesday and yes it was a little more busy than they usually are but it wasn't ridiculously busy. After ordering we ended up waiting 30 minutes until our 4 tacos came out. They really didn't taste all that great either. Later that night I was sick and was still sick into the day after. I probably won't be going back here.

You get a free entree on your birthday if you sign up :). Other than that I'm not really a fan... But you can't compete with some of the "Mexican" food around here... It's not fair.

Ahh Rubios. It's so hard. I love the food, but the service is so bad. I always feel like it's everyone's first day working there. I really don't like criticizing establishments. I mean, we're all doing the best we can, right? If I worked at a Rubios, I'm sure I would be terrible. With that said, the service really is bad. During my past 3 visits, I witnessed 2 fellow patrons take their meals up to the front in protest. A burrito takes 45 minutes to order. It's so hard. . . Food is great, service is so poor. . . . Rubio's, help a girl out!

Mediocre Mexican food. Their fish tacos are pretty good, but only go on Tuesdays when there is a discount.
I tried to Rubio's for the first time today I was not pleased with their service. I waited for over 25 minutes for two fish tacos, ended up having to have them make it to go because I missed my lunch break! I will not be back!

We visited the Rubios in Orem and were extremely disappointed. Slow (30-45 min wait), cold food, bad service, small portions and several people in our party never received their food. I've never visited a restaurant that failed in so many ways.

FISH TACO TUESDAYS!!! I'm torn about the 3 stars. Most of the food was a 5, but there were some things that were just meh. Downsides first: the wait was more than I thought it would be. There were several people working in the kitchen, and only 5 people ordering: a couple a baby, and the hubby and I. We ordered 3 fish tacos and a burrito, and waited close to 30 minutes. If they had something to munch on while we waited, that would have been ideal, but that wasn't an option so it felt like forever. Their chips. Oh my gosh. They were supposedly fresh, but they were stale. You know that texture chips get when the bag has been left open for weeks? Same thing. But here's the kicker: most of them were stale, but then I had one that was...chewy? What the freak just happened? Now for the upsides: I got their shrimp burrito and it was well worth the money. It was really good, my only complaint would be the lack of shrimp. I paid $8.00, so I shouldn't expect a whole lot, but considering the burrito covered almost my entire plate, there should have been more than 5 shrimp. But the flavors were all there and the rice and beans were perfect. The tortilla was soft, with that outer crisp you get with a great burrito. HOLY FISH TACOS. So good. They were as fresh as they could get, still almost hot from the fryer. I love that they give the option of flour or corn tortillas, since I prefer corn and the hubby loves flour. Tuesdays are officially my favorite day for food. I love their salsa. I'm usually picky about salsa: don't like it runny but don't like it chunky. But their picante salsa hit the spot. It wasn't too spicy, but not bland either. I will be coming back for sure. Maybe for the rest of the Tuesdays of my life.

Came here about 3 or 4 weeks ago, hands down worst Rubios I've ever been to. Food took forever and when it finally arrived it was cold and disgusting. The beans were thick and hard, cold as well. We couldn't believe it was a Rubios.

Quick. Easy. Cheap. Obviously not the best taco shop in town, but there's plenty on the menu and in the salsa bar to try out and like. The staff is friendly and they'll usually cut you a deal on sides if you're nice and just ask.

I have been to Rubios 6x now and each experience has Left me wanting to come back again. Their street tacos are amazing, as are their enchiladas. They're a little pricier than other "fresh mex" places (we're talking a dollar or so and you can usually find a coupon for that amount) but even full-price, totally worth it, as it is both fresh and different from what you would find at Costa Vida or Cafe Rio. The staff has also been great every time we've gone. Very friendly, get the food prepared quickly, and bring it right to the table.

The gourmet chicken tacos are the best tacos in the world!!! The chicken, bacon, crispy cheese, that yummy white sauce, they are to die for! But they are almost $10 for two!! And they are very small. LOOK, just take out the word gourmet and take away the little chips and beans and drop the price. I'm paying freakin $10 for two small tasty tacos just because they call it gourmet, and then try to make you feel better by throwing some chips on the side. It will drive me crazy for the rest of my life, because I can't live without those tacos

This place is a hot mess. I've been frequenting Rubio's for years in California. The service is always spectacular and the food is always fresh and clean. I go to the Orem location yesterday June 19, 2014, around 2 or 3pm, order $50 worth of food for fam/friends and the wait is over 25 minutes. Not because it took that long to cook the food. I saw my food wait on the kitchen counter for over 10 mins. You see, an employee off the clock kept coming in and out of the kitchen with her backpack on, that obviously had some sort of personal problem. All the other employees were standing around and talking to her about her problem, as if it were social hour. When they finally caught on to my stink eye, they were "kind enough" to break away from their personal lives and return to work and deliver our food. By this time, the food was cold. While eating my fish taco, i noticed the fish was larger than normal. I opened the taco and saw that a large majority of the taco was not fish, but fried breading. My sister had the same issue with her plate. I also noticed that the female cook in the back was particularly annoyed while preparing the food. You could tell she didn't want to be there and her body language was almost as if she were doing the paying customers a favor by working there. I complained to the manager and she was nice enough to refund the cost of my plate and my sisters, since they were not even edible. However, I was shocked at the managers response....I told her I was unimpressed with the socializing while my food sat there getting cold. I also told her that I've been frequenting Rubios for years, and none of the food prepared resembled the Rubio's brand. Her response was staggering, "I really don't know what the food here at Rubios is supposed to look or taste like." Nothing but clarity from that point on. Everything made sense.

It was empty on a Saturday night--it has been packed all of the other times I've been here during the week. The only downside was that the salsa bar was all out of the mild salsa, and it didn't look like the staff wanted to refill it since they would be closing soon. We settled on the smoky dark salsa and the tomatillo--both were great! All that aside, you can never go wrong with the fish tacos (especially on Tuesdays when you can get them for $1.50 each!). I've only ever had the fish tacos here, but today I branched out and tried the blackened Mahi Mahi burrito today and the hubby tried the grilled Atlantic salmon burrito. Both were excellent and exceeded our expectations. I preferred the seasoning on the blackened Mahi, plus the salmon seemed a bit fishy for my taste (most likely farm raised, and I prefer fresh caught). If you're looking to try something other than their fish tacos and you prefer more mildly tasting fish, go for the Mahi Mahi burrito or tacos. You won't be sorry!

I love the gourmet chicken taco! Chicken, bacon, avocado, melted cheese and a mixture of sauces that are amazing. I also love the side of pinto beans with chips and that sprinkle of parm on top. Mmmmm

I love fish tacos. Anytime its on a menu, I'll order one above anything else. I just didn't like rubios. The special white sauce was nothing more than sour cream and a little lemon juice, and it overpowered the flavor of the whole taco. I can still taste it even as I write this an hour later. egh. I had the original, my wife had the especial. I did however like the pinto beans as a side. They had a different taste than I'd had before, and were good. All the salsas were good as well, with my favorite being the roasted chipotle. Really not one of the better fish taco's I've had. I had higher hopes. The place was immaculate, and the service was good and very friendly. Nice to go into a place and get a smile.

Rubio's is the place to go for fish tacos or any time you can't really figure out what you want to eat! You'll never be disappointed. Yesterday was my first time and I have to say I had one of the best impressions I've ever had with a restaurant and its staff. The manager, Jeff, is an awesome guy! Very helpful and very down to earth. The decor and atmosphere are very inviting, so much so that you feel like your on a mini vacation. And the food was absolutely amazing too! You can't go wrong with the corn avocado tacos or the blackened Mahi Mahi. The corn avocado tacos were SO good I had to get an order to go! I hope you enjoy their dining experience as much as I did. Good luck!

Taco Tuesday for the win! Seriously, delicious fish tacos. On Tuesdays I get the original, because it is such a good deal. On other days I get the mahi-mahi, blackened and gourmet style. Try gourmet style. It takes the flavor to a whole new level!

As a huge fan of fish tacos, it was only a matter of time before Hungry G. and Rubio's crossed paths. Now that it's finally happened, the only question I have is: "Why did I wait so long?" I had the fish taco & burrito special, only $8.95. The fish was savory, plentiful, and cooked in a delicious batter. Each ingredient was fresh, noticeable, and contributed heavily to the tasty and filling outcome. Family members tried the grilled Ono which was also very good. They also serve steak and chicken versions that looked pretty good. Their salsa bar has 4 or 5 delicious alternatives of varying spiciness. We all walked away happy and very full. The place was clean, bright, and had a fun beach-Mexican theme. The manager deserves a lot of credit for running a very customer friendly restaurant. The cashier (obviously new) messed up my order and added an extra burrito. We noticed the error right away and they gave me a refund. When the order came, they included the extra burrito anyway. When I showed the manager he said "keep it ... sorry for the hassle on your bill." Wow, how cool is that? This dude not only made my day, but a loyal customer for life.

My wife took my to lunch at the new Rubio's today. It was pretty good. I got a fish taco, and the wife took steak, and we traded 1/2 way through. The beans and chips were good, as was the fish and tortilla. I thought the steak was unremarkable. Overall happy, but for $8 a person I felt like I didn't get a lot of food.

I have a confession, I have always wanted to try a fish taco but was always scared to do it. Something about the words fish and taco just sounded so wrong together, but let me tell you this... they are awesome! Especially the fish tacos at Rubios. It was actually a bit spicy, this taco had kick! It was awesome! Also loved how fresh everything tasted, and the service was fast and friendly. Also a plus? It's open on Sunday (great time to go actually since it's less crowded then).

I enjoy visiting the Orem Rubio's location because of Jeffery. He is the manager and a very good one at that. He is always greeting guests with a smile, along with his excellent staff. The food is always fresh and prepared to order and I love what they offer. Try the classic fish taco or the salmon burrito. To die for!!

I adore Rubio's. It's one of those places that is in your cadre of standard go-to fast casual places and when you're done eating you go, "dang, I forgot how good this is." Super fast service, fresh ingredients and good selection. I still prefer a crusty Del Taco fish taco, but man, these sure aren't bad either.

I am very fond of Rubio's. I'm so glad they came into town. It's clean, has good atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the food is simple and delicious. The whole experience of eating there is refreshing. And, for a non-Mormon living in Provo, one of the BEST things is that it's open on Sunday. Thank you Rubio's! You make me feel warm and fuzzy.

This is a rather specific review dealing with the fish tacos sold at Rubio's. By far the best fish taco you can get without risking sickness on a Mexican beach.

From the tantalizing fish tacos, and scrumptious vegetarian burritos, to the intense taste explosion of the langostino lobster burritos, I can never get enough of the obviously fresh and robust healthy flavor at my local Rubios. It is always like the first time when I dine in. I am in love with the salsa bar and never walk away feeling guilty of what I ate. I would drive 50 miles to Rubios (and have)!

If you've always wanted to try fish tacos this is the place. Nice enough for a date but casual enough just to go with some friends, the food is good, even if a little pricey in my opinion. The blackened fish burritos are great and filling. I wouldn't go with the health mex version though because they just take out the good stuff and put in re-fried beans.

I love this place. The food is good and tasty and filling and inexpensive! I'm the type of person who gets the same thing every time and this is no different. I order the 2-plate of the fish tacos with rice and chips. The sauce is my favorite part. Everything is so yummy! My husband orders different things every time and he says everything is tasty-- though, he's not a big fan of the place itself... but he does get a craving for it every now and then! :) We order two chicken taquitos for our 2 year old. She's a very picky eater, like all kids, but she'll eat these! My mom has order the Gourmet Shrimp Tacos and she loves them. We all order the corn tortillas. (The flour ones seem to make things a bit soggy, we've noticed.) The actual location is always very clean and never overly crowded. The salsa bar is clean and easy to navigate around and the drink station is the same. Highly recommended!

know, I know: how can a chain have great Mexican food? In the case of Rubio's, by using scrumptious, fresh ingredients and mouthwatering combinations of seafood, spices, crisp veggies, and great salsas. Seriously, I defy anyone to find a better blackened tilapia taco on the planet. It's that good.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Great location, always friendly staff and good eats
