So this was our first coming here and our little boy is obsessed with trains and we decided it would be a fun expedience. Well little did i know my food was going to be awful. I ordered the parm chicken Alfredo and it was awful.. It was cold, the sauce was so watery and none of it had any flavor at all... Yes my waiter did bring me a new dish but by the time it came to me my family was done eating so i just took it to go... And i still had to pay my full price ticket.. I don't know if we'll be going back...

Visited the train museum so we stopped into the grill for dinner. Was really pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was really good. Steak medallions were cooked perfectly and the demiglaze sauce was fantastic. Kids hamburger was huge and tasty. The steamed veggie plate with grilled chicken was also really good. Also priced really fairly. Will be back.

Amazing food and great service. If you want to eat healthy, the steamed veggie plate is awesome. I got the salmon and substituted steamed veggies for the potatoes (remember to ask for no cheese on the veggies).

A favorite of mine. The best French Onion soup around. Their fresh tomato and mozzarella salad was perfect. The atmosphere is wonderful. The old train station converted into the restaurant is great.
Food was ok and service was friendly enough, just really slow. It took forever to get our check even though the restaurant was on the slow side. I ordered the chicken salad and fruit plate from the 'light' menu but it was huge. Other than the brown apple slices the fruit was good. Olives covered the chicken salad, which is something that should be on the menu, but fortunately they didn't ruin the dish.

For starters, I've only been here once, for lunch, and had a generally positive experience. I know people who swear by this place, but I got the sandwich they suggested and even though it was good, it wasn't as amazing as indicated. The sandwich was decent, the fries were okay. Even at lunch I ended up dropping about $10 for what I thought was a $5 or $6-caliber meal. Being a bit on the thrifty side with my restaurant excursions, I'm not super eager to go back, but if a friend wanted to go I'd be fine to join in. One notable complaint I have is the lack of bread choices. I'm not a wheat bread guy, and the only other option was a specialty bread that was extremely salty.

Union Grill offers a consistent 4-star experience. I am always in the lunch crowd here and, for some reason, never make it to dinner. A few things to try: The French Onion Soup. Some of the best around and Top Notch in the 844 area codes. You will find yourself picking cheese off the side of the bowl because you love it so much. The Pasta Salads. Wide variety and very tasty. The only thing that could make them better is if the pasta were made of bacon. Use this as your side dish. The lettuce side-salads are a "meh" and make you want to poach off your neighbor's plate. The Focaccia bread. It comes free with your meal but you have to ask for it. You will impress your partner and friends by ordering like a regular. For those who cannot pronounce it, just say "tasty bread" and they will know what you mean. The specials. They have different ones daily and they usually rule. Cajun prime rib is probably my favorite and paired with the FO soup and a pasta salad, I feel sinful. When you come here, give yourself some extra time. You will want to walk around the Union Station and meet some cool people that know a LOT about the museums and history housed here. The setting is fantastic and you could spend hours going through the place. Local Tip: Parking stinks in the lot in front of Union Grill. Small lot that is usually full. Go to the north parking lot in front of Union Station and walk through. You will be glad that you did for a.) parking reasons and b.) a preview of the coolness that IS Union Station.

Ben was our server, very aware of our presence and excellent service. The food- excellent flavors . house made creamy Italian dressing was a perfect consistency of spices and vinegar. French onion soup served hot, flavors were rich and filling. Cheese burger, and fries. Tasty and juicy. Strip steak, cooked medium, perfect, and bistro onions were a delectable addition. Meat loaf dinner, generous portions, delicious squash with a nice addition of fresh Parmesan cheese. Creamy mashed potatoes. Everyone satisfied and will be a new favorite place.

Just moved to the area, decided to check this out. Not too many recent reviews, something that worried me. Well, didn't have to worry! The place is very quaint, located in an old train station, with a museum attached. The food was rather tasty! We had potstickers (I know, right?) and a burger. The potstickers were great. The burger was pretty good too..... We also ordered the bread pudding.... pretty yummy as well. I would not rate this spectacular, but really nice fare on a weeknight..... The service was good as well.... We will be returning!

The food was good.. nothing fantastic, but nothing to complain about! The service was a little slow, but friendly. I would go again if going to the museums in the station, or riding the tracks. If just out for lunch in the town, though, I'd probably pick a different restaurant. Also, the menu is kid friendly, but there is very limited space. All of the tables are bunched close together so it is really not the best option if you are dining with children.

We took the ankle biters on a Frontrunner ride and ended our trip with a visit to the historic Union Station. We quite literally stumbled across this place while looking for a restroom. We saw the specials and decided to give them a try. I agree with other reviewers that emphasize how much the employees obviously despise anyone with children, even though the three at our table were well behaved until pushed to the limit because of the long wait. Slow, slow, slow service. Our server had something against us from the start, he was short-tempered and downright rude. Did I just see his eyes roll? Yes, yes I did. The atmosphere is dark and dreary, not a place I would want to hang out often. The one saving grace was what I ordered: the caprese sandwich on foccacia. Nice thick slices of mozzarella, basil pesto, tomato and a very thick and flavorful balsamic drizzle. The fries were tasty, too. Hubby really enjoyed his French onion soup. Too bad the experience didn't jive with the food.

Well worth the long drive we made out to Ogden! The service was incredible and the food was even better! I have to say OMG the best onion rings I have ever had!! The flavor was spot on with no gross bitter oil flavor telling me they really take good care of their restaurant as it was apparent their oil was frequently changed. I waited to gobble them up to tell others with me just how good they are so I didn't have to share. I am not kidding they are amazing!

Food was decent enough, I guess? Plate presentation wasn't good, service was awful, and prices were too high for such small portions (steak the size of a deck of cards was $20) Shrimp tasted like it was the "precooked" frozen kind from a bag in the freezer aisle of a grocery store. Not impressed at all. Roosters is nearby, has better food, better service, and their atmosphere is far superior.

I would have given more stars, but the service is never that great. Their onion rings appetizer is awesome. They are beer battered perfection. Their salmon pasta salad is my favorite, and their Santa Fe sandwich is a grown up version of grilled cheese, adding tomato, avocado and mayo is a close second. They have a very decadent chocolate mouse cake that's a must to share.

Good food at the union grill. Cool ambiance being an old railroad station hub. On more than a few visits, I can't remember anything being a less then favorable. Service might be lacking when they get busy, but that's expected. Busy service means people like it there, obviosly though.

Go at lunch and this place is bustling. Excellent service, prompt seating and quick turnover. The french onion soup is great and served daily so you never have to guess. Fish and chips are really good, cucumber pasta was meh. They have quite a few vegetarian dishes and the menu is really varied. Can't really go wrong here!

When I lived in Ogden, this was one of my very favorite restaurants in town. I LOVE that you can get yummy Roosters beer without having to eat the yucky Roosters food! Some of my favorites are the baked brie & fruit plate, ANY pasta salad, french onion soup and ANY dessert. I've always had great service there. The building is really fun to look around as well. They recently began a Frequent Diners club, too.

If you're going to leave your phone in Ogden, I guess the Union Grill is good place to leave it. YES, we have just returned from retrieving my little buddy. Our server was there when I picked it up, she said if I hadn't come looking for it by tomorrow she was going to start calling contacts like Mom or Hubby. OH YEAH! The Union Grill. It was good. I got the santa fe sandwich (grilled cheese w/ tomato and avocado. I ate it all. The beer battered onion rings were super delish. Really liked the server, she was efficient and nice, and she was going to make sure I would be reunited with my phone. I will go back after I have tried all of the other restaurants in Ogden.

The historic 25th street area is fun to see, but I wouldn't hurry back to this restaurant. The food was ok and the service was nothing to get excited about. The Cesar salad was good and the onion soup looked good, but the chicken carbonara was bland.

We had a burger and a cheese steak. Service was extremely slow and the bread was very dry. Also when you take a drink order before giving menus u should let the customer know if is mango flavored and not regular ice tea!

It's a bit noisy, but the food is great. If you go, try the cucumber pasta salad. We never order dessert at restaurants, but can never pass up the bread pudding here. Definitely worth the extra calories.

Excellent little restaurant with in the historic Union Station. Ate lunch while visiting the attached museums after a trip up from Salt Lake. Their soda fountain seems to be mixing Diet Pepsi a bit sweet, but other than that the waiter kept bringing one out after another, making sure that i was never empty for long. The Chicken Cesar salad was pretty darned good, and there was a lot of it for what I paid. The cheese was a nice touch on top of the salad, but the croutons were harder than a rock. The bread pudding is a must have if you are a fan of desert. Apparently its award winning, and I know why. While its not *as* good as the one at the Grand America in SLC, its the next best thing. The only thing I have to say is the sauce is a tad on the runny side, but it was gone very quickly and I was happy.

I would not go out of my way to come here, b/c there can be a bit of a wait, but if I had to, I'd order a few specific things. They started us off with the homemade focaccia bread. Sounds delicious in theory. The first basket was all right, but it was cold. That was kind of unappealing. Second basket was so heavily garlic-salted that although we appreciated the additional "flavor"...it was way too much. I had the beer sampler trio for $2. Delicious little beers from Rooster's! I wanted to try the "heavenly cream ale" but they were out. :( Instead, I went with the two-bit amber, which was my least fav of the three. I did enjoy the honey wheat the best and the diamondback ale second. For entrees, I ordered the italian sausage with creamy tomato sauce over linguine and my bf had the pecan chicken. We both got soups with our entrees...mine was the eggplant and my bf had the french onion for a little more $. The french onion was definitely the winner of the two. I actually really liked it a lot. The gooey provolone (I think?) was delicious. Great broth, too. My soup, however, tasted like a bowl of marinara sauce. I could not detect the eggplant. I was sorely disappointed, to say the least. For the entrees...my chunky sausage pasta dish came with snow peas mixed in. Whaaaat? I gave it a chance, but it was just too weird tasting. I think they should have added green bell peppers if they were wanting to throw in a veggie. The sauce was ok, a little less creamy than I was hoping. They served it with some more cold focaccia. The pecan chicken was more of a winner. The crust was kind of dark, but it was good. A very generous serving too, I might add. Our service was decent. The atmosphere here was nice and unique. We saw a train drive by, which added to the whole "train station" feel. The menu was very random, which kind of gave me the idea that it's a bit of a touristy place with more of an emphasis on the atmosphere than the food. While I didn't really like the food I ordered, the stuff my bf got was A-OK. Again, a hit or miss place.

This is a consistently good local restaurant in a beautiful historic building. There food is generally a hit with anyone we take. Our favorites include all the pasta dishes as well as , Signature French Onion Soup, Cobb Salad, Vegetarian Pasta Salad & Cajun Turkey Sandwich. They are famous for their bread pudding - it is to die for. All the desserts look great though. Good for anything from casual to a special evening out. We take our two year old often when we go, and frequently see other families as well as couples on romantic dates. If you want the homemade focaccia bread to start (complimentary) - you must ask for it, they only bring it to tables upon request.

We have been here several times. Never disappointed! Always a good stand by when in town and hungry. It is inside the old Union Station. The walls are brick and the floor is wood. It can be a bit noisy during busy times, but the food and service is very good.

My husband and I have long counted the Union Grill as one of the better restaurants in Ogden. Last Saturday, I realized that in our zeal to find new local eateries, though, we hadn't been there in a while. I regret to say that I'm sorry we decided to go back. It would have been better to let the memory stay intact. It was one long experience in 'meh'. To begin with, the hostesses started bored and moved to hostile. A line of people waited while three of them (perhaps one was a waitress) chose to spend that time tearing down a colleague, including using foul language to refer to her. While my language isn't pristine, it struck me as incredibly unprofessional to speak in that manner in front of customers. When we were finally being seated, my husband (who has worked in the restaurant business) advised the seating hostess that they really should at least acknowledge the large party that was had been waiting for a while: she responded with a shrug and, "That's not my job." It didn't surprise us at all to see that large party shake their heads and walk out the door about three minutes later. The restaurant was full, but not overly so. Even so, tables sat uncleared while servers chatted in the corner. Service was slow and unenthusiastic, and I had to ask about the specials twice before the server paid attention to me. The food, which was once quite good and cutting edge was the most 'meh' thing of all. I ordered a pasta dish; the angel hair pasta was overcooked (and should really have been a linguini or sturdier pasta, with the heavy vegetable toppings), and the pesto sauce had either been sitting for a long time or was not emulsified properly in the first place, as it was separated (solids and oil). The french onion soup, which used to be wonderful, was also just okay. It could have been improved if the onions had been caramelized (which they used to do), but as it was it just tasted of onions and Knorr beef base. Not bad, but not good either. The salad was generic bagged Romaine *shrug* The weirdest thing was my husband's Thai ginger chicken: not only was there no taste of ginger or garlic at all, but the peanut sauce tasted most strongly of flour. The only thing I can think of is that they tried to extend or thicken it with flour instead of the pricier peanut butter. Hint: it didn't work, guys. It was just strange. Neither dish was disgusting--just boring. The best thing we had all evening were the beers. Next time, we'll skip the middle man and go directly to Roosters (and hope they haven't gone downhill, too).

The food was great! Hubby had the Pita Chicken Taco's and loved it! It had a nice/slight amount of heat and great flavor. The salsa on the side was mediocre, but the main dish was well-worth it! We stopped in at lunch time, and while the place wasn't really crowded, they did put everyone in the same area..... which made elbow room a commodity. I had the Chicken and Spinach Fettuccine topped with large bacon crumbles and Parmesan cheese. It was really good, although a BIG portion considering it came with soup or salad. I chose to go with the French Onion Soup, and was NOT disappointed! Finished our meal with Tiramisu, that was FABULOUS!! Our service was great, food was great, and overall.. we will go back.

I don't like being a hater, but I can't avoid it sometimes. The food here is really good and usually pretty consistent unlike its sister restaurant, Roosters, which I won't review, because I worked there for 6 years. Anyhow, the service here is really horrendous. Unless you are some hoity-toity regular, you'll probably get ignored, especially if you have kids. The hostess barely acknowledge us and ignored our request for a high chair. When we asked our server, she rolled her eyes and said, "Oh, I'm sure she's going to get it." Alas, she didn't get it and the server finally brought one. After waiting 20 minutes for our check, my toddler had had it and was running amuck. Do you think our server noticed? No, she sat and gossiped with the hostess. I have a feeling this poor service is because the staff is overworked and the management is poorly trained. If someone complains about the service, you don't just say, "Oh, I really feel, like, so bad. Here's a gift certificate. Come again!" NO! I am not going to come again and maybe you should try and inquire why.

This is classic Ogden. Excellent food with excellent service. Lunch can be a bit noisy but evenings are mellow. Be sure to allow extra time to walk your meal off in Union Station and the grounds.

We have been here several times. Never disappointed! Always a good stand by when in town and hungry. It is inside the old Union Station. The walls are brick and the floor is wood. It can be a bit noisy during busy times, but the food and service is very good.

Good food at the union grill. Cool ambiance being an old railroad station hub. On more than a few visits, I can't remember anything being a less then favorable. Service might be lacking when they get busy, but that's expected. Busy service means people like it there, obviosly though.

I have only been here once, but I will definitely be going back. The food was delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. Next time I go I will be trying the stuffed mushrooms.

(2)Heimlich M.
(4)Tracy G.
Amazing food and great service. If you want to eat healthy, the steamed veggie plate is awesome. I got the salmon and substituted steamed veggies for the potatoes (remember to ask for no cheese on the veggies).
(5)Ac J.
A favorite of mine. The best French Onion soup around. Their fresh tomato and mozzarella salad was perfect. The atmosphere is wonderful. The old train station converted into the restaurant is great.

Every time I go to Union Grill I am impressed by the things that I order. One of my favorites is to get the Myzithra pasta with a side of Alfredo sauce. I also love the Santa Fe sandwich. My husband loves the gumbo and my good friend always gets the Carbonara. My favorite desserts are the mud pie and the bread pudding. They are to die for! I also like it because I'm on the birthday list and so I get a free entrée every year. I highly recommend checking out this cute restaurant inside Union Station.
(4)Jenn S.
(3)Angela Z.
There wasn't anything really special about our meal. The only reason I'm leaving a review is because the women's bathroom doesn't have a baby changing table.
(3)Montain B.
I can't believe the ratings are this high. You will be happy looking around the area for better quality, better plating, and better value. Even with a 25% Entertainment Book discount it was over priced based on the above.
(2)Cody H.
(3)Travis B.

(4)John W.
The service was very friendly. It's just that 1996 called and they want their menu returned.
(3)Abigail B.
I feel like the food here is okay but not fantastic. The one really good thing they have here is their bread pudding.
(4)Maritza M.
(3)Stephanie G.
(4)Candice S.
(3)July M.
Our waiter was great, but unpleasant vibes from the receptionists. Very pricey for that Not so good food.
(2)Ivy S.
(5)Maestro L.
Burger was cooked perfectly but absolutely zero flavor. I felt as If my tongue was in a desert of flavorlessnes. Fries and service was great.
(3)Cody B.
Hadn't been here in several years. Decided to try again - glad we did. The pasta salad brought before the meal was great! My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and it was really good. I had the tortellini with Alfredo sauce and it was also very good.
(4)Devin S.
(2)Julia S.

(4)Jennifer S.
Decent, reasonable place to grab a bite to eat. The beer sampler was a bargain and a good way to try out some local brew.

Decent, reasonable place to grab a bite to eat. The beer sampler was a bargain and a good way to try out some local brew.

There wasn't anything really special about our meal. The only reason I'm leaving a review is because the women's bathroom doesn't have a baby changing table.

I can't believe the ratings are this high. You will be happy looking around the area for better quality, better plating, and better value. Even with a 25% Entertainment Book discount it was over priced based on the above.

Burger was cooked perfectly but absolutely zero flavor. I felt as If my tongue was in a desert of flavorlessnes. Fries and service was great.

Hadn't been here in several years. Decided to try again - glad we did. The pasta salad brought before the meal was great! My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and it was really good. I had the tortellini with Alfredo sauce and it was also very good.

The service was very friendly. It's just that 1996 called and they want their menu returned.
(3)Abigail B.
I feel like the food here is okay but not fantastic. The one really good thing they have here is their bread pudding.

Our waiter was great, but unpleasant vibes from the receptionists. Very pricey for that Not so good food.

This is classic Ogden. Excellent food with excellent service. Lunch can be a bit noisy but evenings are mellow. Be sure to allow extra time to walk your meal off in Union Station and the grounds.
(5)Perry H.
We have been here several times. Never disappointed! Always a good stand by when in town and hungry. It is inside the old Union Station. The walls are brick and the floor is wood. It can be a bit noisy during busy times, but the food and service is very good.
(4)Brian T.
Good food at the union grill. Cool ambiance being an old railroad station hub. On more than a few visits, I can't remember anything being a less then favorable. Service might be lacking when they get busy, but that's expected. Busy service means people like it there, obviosly though.
(4)Collin S.
The historic 25th street area is fun to see, but I wouldn't hurry back to this restaurant. The food was ok and the service was nothing to get excited about. The Cesar salad was good and the onion soup looked good, but the chicken carbonara was bland.
(2)Kate A.
We had a burger and a cheese steak. Service was extremely slow and the bread was very dry. Also when you take a drink order before giving menus u should let the customer know if is mango flavored and not regular ice tea!
(2)Jason T.

I have only been here once, but I will definitely be going back. The food was delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. Next time I go I will be trying the stuffed mushrooms.

The food is pretty good. Get the Onion Soup and Bread Pudding for dessert.
