Delicious food AND great service?! Who knew it existed so close to home? Went here on a whim with my hubster and we were not disappointed. We got to chatting with the absolutely adorable hostess/waitress and found out more about the restaurant too. The owner, John, practically makes everything himself to ensure the best quality. How much more devotion could a foodie ask for? Try the calzone. Try it all. As a creature of habit, this will be a new haunt of mine... so glad we found this small gem in Ogden.

I grew up in Ogden and never eaten here, I feel I missed apart of my childhood! The pizza is amazing!! Not super greasy like most, they put a lot of ingredients on it and the bread is really good! The owner John and servers are all very personable and took amazing care of us! I will definitely be ordering or eating in here more often!

My family has been going here for the past 20 years and ordering the same pizza for all those years. I recently moved to NYC and while home visiting this was one of the places I had to eat. After our party of 6 had waited 20 min to even be seated when the whole back area was clearly empty I checked with waitress to see what was happening. She stuck her finger out to cut me off mid sentence and simply said "there is going to be a wait." I don't mind a wait but I can't stand bad customer service so our party left and ate at slack water. I am sad that after 20 years of loyalty to this restaurant my family will probably not be returning because of such rude customer service. I hope that this was a bad night and not representative of how this place now operates cause the food is delicious.

Stopped in Ogden for the night on a long road trip and chose Piccolo's based on multiple 4- and 5-star reviews. The place was completely empty at 7 p.m. on a Wednesday night -- not a good sign for a pizza place -- so my hopes weren't very high. The house salad I ordered was just iceberg lettuce topped with a store-bought Italian dressing, some slices of Hormel salami and pepperoni, and pepperoncini on the side. The veggie pizza was not great but better than expected; good crust, lots of fresh vegetables but tasteless cheese and sauce. The service was somewhat inattentive; two or three people picked up food at the to-go counter and a family of three came in as we were finishing up, otherwise we had the place to ourselves, but the waitress barely spoke to us.

Always great Pizza! My son ordered a calzone. My wife had the meatball grinder, and my daughter had the Italian grinder. I had the personal Johns Special. Definitely one of the best and only place you can have a cold beer with Pizza. Thanks Piccalo.

I was so disappointed in the food that we received when we came to this restaurant. When we travel we enjoy finding independently owned restaurants and we stay away from the big chains. We can get the chain restaurant food any day at home. And we have been lucky to find some incredible little diamond restaurants, usually through Yelp reviews. While the reviews for this restaurant were up and down, in general they appeared positive, so we gave it a try. Husband ordered the Chicken Italiano, chicken with mushrooms, a side of pasta and tomato sauce over it. The chicken was tough, mushrooms were little pieces instead of anything recognized as mushrooms, and the meal was very mediocre. I ordered linguini with olive oil, tomatoes, pesto and pine nuts. Unfortunately, what I received was linguini with pesto that didn't taste fresh, two small pieces of tomato skin, and no pine nuts at all. When I asked the waitress where the pine nuts were she replied that there were just a few of them in there and they were very small so it might be hard to find them. She wasn't kidding. They were non-existent. It is sad when the garlic bread is the high point of a meal. This meal would usually warrant two stars. However, the waitress was friendly and did a good job so I am bumping it up to three stars.

Tried this place out after noticing the high reviews on Yelp. Very disappointed would be the overall experience description. Pretty uninspired Italian food coupled with lousy service. The waitress wasn't attentive and didn't seem engaged at all. I asked her 3 times if the family style salad came with garlic bread (AFTER the salad was delivered) before she finally brought it to the table. One Italian grinder and a chicken dish later we left disappointed. The chicken in the entre wasn't fresh and the cheese sauce it came drowning in tasted canned. Ogden has quite a few great restaurants and this isn't one of them.

I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. I won't be coming back. I ordered the bredge bread and then the chicken parmesan, my son ordered the chicken parmesan italiano but wanted Alfredo sauce/white sauce instead of the red marina sauce. He wasn't eating it, so I asked why. He said it's not good. I tasted it...it was so sweet. Sweet. .no kidding! I asked if the sauce had any sweetner in it, well the waitress went to ask... and came back telling me that it had no cane sugar in it but it's a secret recipe and couldn't tell me what was it in...well, I wasn't planning on stealing the recipe. My home made white sauce/alfredo has no sugar or sweetner added.. never had never will. He left the whole plate. .no one came to speak to us about the meal. . And they took the 2.50 extra off that we got charged to put white sauce on......wow, what a wonderful way to promote good relations. I also agree with the other reviews, wait staff wasn't good. I had to get up to go tell them we were ready to order, because we got tired of waiting. My order wasn't bad, but wasn't great either.. was drowning in the red meat sauce. Big pile under the pasta, & under the chicken and also more on top of the pasta. The chicken was breaded but barely fried so really got soggy fast. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We ate at Picollos for the first time tonight because we heard some great things about it. Unfortunately, the food was not what I expected. I love linguini pesto and seafood but when I ordered the linguini pesto with clams it had no flavor at all. The garlic bread and "bredge" sticks were great, but that's basically what I got full off of. The pizza was also fantastic. Our waitress was horrible. She acted as if she didn't want to be there and was never around to fill our drinks or remove the empty plates. I will give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt and give it three stars. I just hope that we came on a bad day and it's usually a better experience than this.

Anytime I'm in Ogden I stop by Piccolos for a pizza or a sandwich, or both. The food is great and the service is very friendly. My personal favorite is the "Johns Special", I'm pretty sure I could eat the whole pizza by myself, seriously. If not that, I would get one if their sandwiches, they're all good. If you have time and are in the area I would highly recommend stopping in for a meal. For me me this is an easy 5 stars.

I have been to Piccolo's several times and it's always very good. John, the owner is a great guy and a master chef. The staff are always friendly and service is good. It takes a few minutes to get the food but it's well worth the wait. Good food takes time to prepare!

I was trying to find a place like this. Good price and good tasting pizza. It tasted fresh and not greasy. This is a lot better than your chain pizza joints. We had a few different pizzas and all were good. We had the mozzarella and tomato with basil. That was tasty. You can't go wrong with this place.

I've grown up in Ogden and we went to Piccolo's ever since I was a kid. Their pizza is cooked in a brick style oven and it is far less greasy than most pizza places. I've never had authentic Italian Pizza, but this is how I picture it. The ONLY reason I don't give Piccolo's 5 stars is because their pizza is horrendously priced. We probably ordered from them 10 times a year or so until recently. Ever since around 2005, the prices are just too high for us. It's a shame, because their food is delicious otherwise.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
