3.5 stars, but rounded up because of the service. We received 5 STAR SERVICE without a doubt. Our waiter was fast, funny, nice, and made sure we had everything we need. My food (Nachos Grande) was mediocre though. The flavors didn't meld together like most nachos do and they were very bland until you squirted salsa on them. I say "squirted" because they literally put the salsa in squirt bottles for you to fill up your salsa bowls and apply to your meals. All of my friends get the fish tacos and they say they are without a doubt the best fish tacos in the world. I normally only eat fish when I'm by the ocean, but next time I might have to give it a try. I also tried a bite of another girl's tamale. OH MY GOSH. That was GOOD. I love tamales, but I'm pretty picky about them so I don't normally order them. However, It was AH-MAZING! It was smothered in a spicy sauce and I would definitely recommend it. I'm pretty shocked that it took me so long to come and try this place out. It's a sit down restaurant, but I was expecting it to be more fast food style since it was in an old fast food building. I'm constantly seeing groupons and other deals for this place, and next time I will have to snatch one up. I'd love to come back and try a few more things on the menu. The chips and salsa were good and it was only $4 for a 24oz Modelo with lime.

Very tasty Mexican fare at excellent prices. We had been to their other locations and this one has the same delicious food and great service. Staff is helpful and friendly and their food and drink specials (corona-ritas) are always appreciated!

I make sure to eat at La Puente every time I visit my family in Ogden. Best smothered burritos ever! We know the staff because my family loves eating there so much. It's clean, friendly and delicious. They have really great lunch specials, so if you're looking to try it out, that's a great time to go. Get a smothered burrito with cheese and onions, it's delicious.

This place is delicious, love the smothered burrito and the Carne Asada plate also the menudo is to die for. I hope these guys stick around for a long time, its by far my favorite mexican restaurant in Ogden. Better than Javier's and El matador.

I tried the smothered tamale with cheese for the first time today. That will be my go-to dish from now on. It was so flavorful. The tamale was moist and it had a generous filling of pork on the inside. I love tamales and so far that's the best tamale I've had in Ogden. Our server, Carlos, was very nice and he made sure that we were taken care of. My husband ordered the ribs and he didn't even need a knife because the meat fell off of the bone. We will definitely be going back!

We eat here very often, at least once a month. I love the Chile Verde Burrito with cheese! The cheese enchilada is also fabulous! It's so wonderful. We also call in and use the to go option which is great, they have never made a mistake! I highly recommend this place and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The smothered burrito with cheese is my go-to dish, and is always amazing. It arrives quickly, and piping hot. Their rice and beans are yummy, where in some restaurants they feel like an afterthought. I also like their homemade chips and salsa!

Don't share your food with your child. They charged me $3.50 for an extra plate. Am I buying the plate or just eating on it???

As far as Mexican restaurants go, La Puente wins on atmosphere -- colorful decorations, lots of comfy booths, and loud families enjoying good food. Their seasoned chips (and ice cold salsa -- served in a ketchup bottle) are surprisingly delicious. Their chile relleno is good ($4 without rice or beans), not great, but better than any I've had in Ogden. Worth a try for sure.

This place is great. The place is very clean! The food is cheap! The food is also very tasty. The staff is very nice. Carlos and Jesse are the best! It is family owned and operated. Give this place a change and just remember that it is not five star dining and if you have a problem bring it to their attention and I bet they will fix it.

We always get the smothered burrito with cheese, abd rice and beans! Yum! Delicious chips and salsa! Definitely recommend it! Plus it's a steal of a deal for the portion!

driving by, fron out of town and wanted to find something local and not a chain. What a find, great service, excellent pricing, to quality meal. I, will be back, I will be working in this area in October and i have made a mental note of this place. I had the beef fajitas, large about a food on the plate. i started with the chips and salsa, chips are pretty light the salsa in different, not bad, but I haven't had anything like it before. what is unique is they are located right next door almost next door to a Taco Bell and they had a nice amount of business on a Tuesday evening. I am not wanting to compare the food, but to have both next door to each other and both are surviving should say something,, if you are ever in the area and have a hankering for some Mexican food, for sure stop in.

First visit. Clean restaurant and good service. Had the menudo and a few bites of smothered burrito. As I was eating I thought "This tastes exactly like Lorena's," which, in my opinion, is a very good thing. I've had menudo in four states and in Mexico and Lorena's menudo (or more accurately, menudo colorado) is the best I've eaten to date - well worth the drive to Woods Cross. Four stars for the menudo alone. You really should try it because it doesn't get much more authentic than this. [edit] It turns out that there is a connection. The late husband of the owner of La Puente was the founder of the La Frontera chain and it appears that all of these restaurants share menus.

We decided to try La Puente when it came up as a deal on Groupon. So we went with friends and kids. It was fairly quiet, maybe 3 other groups in the whole place, and yet the service was TERRIBLE. Firstly, the waiter bought corn chips and salsa for one table, and not the other. Then when I went up and requested some for our second table the waitress gave a look of utter disdain, and plonked a squeezy bottle of salsa on the table, with no bowl to pour it into. I then had to ask for a salsa dish. Again, she looked very unhappy that we were there. When our food did arrive, one meal was missing. When I realized that the waiter was finished bringing the food I asked him where the meal was for my son, and he went away and came back saying that it was on the order but the kitchen had missed it. So my 5 year old was upset to watch everyone else with their food, while he had to wait another 10 min for a meal, but it did eventually come, with an apology from the waiter. There was barely any refilling of drinks or other normal service, and then when it came time to pay, our friend and her family were told that she couldn't use the groupon $20 voucher, unless she ordered another entree (she had purchased 3 meals). If we had known that they would do this, we would have put through some of our meals (we ordered 6) on her order. So then we had to wait another 20 min while they cooked another meal, so that she could use her groupon. It was very, very poor customer treatment. Apart from the service, we had been fairly open to returning. The food was reasonable for the price. I had a Carne Asade dish, and for $6.99, it was a nice big serving, and was pretty good. Not the best I've had at a restaurant, but good for the price. They had kids meals for around $4, and the kids enjoyed them, some mexican food, some cheeseburgers and corn dogs. If it had not been for the server who glared at us and wanted to argue the cheque, we might have gone back, but we left on an unhappy note. She even glared when I took a mint as I was leaving! To the girl who served us: I am sorry that we put you out by coming to your place of work. We won't do it again.

Delicious mexican food, for a dirt-cheap price. Eat-in like a normal restaraunt, or call in to get a smothered burrito for take-out, go home, and indulge yourself in messy delicous-ness. :)

The best Mexican food in Ogden! My favorite is the chicken enchilada with rice and beans! I take visitors in from out of town to lunch on a regular basis, because everyone loves their food. Clean and friendly. If you love Mexican food you just have to try it. I think they also sell beer! Drive thru is great for picking up dinner to go.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
