I was really impressed by this place. I've been to many Indian restaurants and my top 2 are Bombay and Kathmandu and now this will be one of my favourites. I look mainly for traditional and flavorful food when it comes to Indian. I came here with my family on a Saturday and I believe it was the owners who served us, they were really nice and welcoming. But what blew my mind was the food! They explode with flavors and spices. I would definitely recommend anyone who's looking for authentic spicy or not Indian food here.

Fantastic Indian food! A little pricey. We had the chicken Biryani, chicken and potato curry, and roti. Loved them all, although the chicken and potato curry was a small portion. The roti was very good with a mild flavor, add salt.

After an exhaustive survey of all the Indian options available in the Ogden area, Bombay Grill is our favorite. While the decor is, um, minimal, and the service is just ok, I definitely thought this place had the tastiest Indian food-- which is what matters to me the most. We got a variety of vegetarian options (samosas, garlic naan, Malai Kofta, Saag Paneer, and Baingan Bartha), and unlike some other places (where you ask for medium spiciness and can detect no spiciness at all) this was pleasantly hot. A little too hot for my spouse, which is a pretty good feat. The restaurant itself was practically empty while we were there, and had a laid back atmosphere. While it may be more expensive than some other Indian joints in town, it is worth the slight increase for the quality and tastiness of the food.
(5)David B.
Legit Indian food, mom and pop run, even had a 6 month old behind the counter in a makeshift bed. Veggie kurma was good, a little overcooked, good rice. Got takeout but restaurant clean.
(3)Randal L.
Ogden finally has it's own Indian restaurant. Food is great. Owner is very personable. I will be back soon and often to try everything!
(4)Liz D.
We ate here on 03/08/2010. I'm giving it 5 stars because the dining experience far exceeded our expectations. The food and the service were much better than we expected (my companion is a New Yorker and I live in Silicon Valley). You don't go to Ogden, Utah, expecting even good Indian food, and this was well above average for similar restaurants in Silicon Valley. At least one of the yelp reviews said to expect "horrible service" but our waiter was attentive and the food was served promptly. The ambiance isn't much, but it is clean and welcoming. We shared the mango lamb curry and the chicken tikka. I thought it was one of the best lamb curries I have had in the last three years. I also had a salty lassi, which was just the way I like it. If I lived in Ogden, I'd try to get a group together to eat here often to sample the extensive menu.
(5)Tony T.
Expensive, the naan is meh, the curry is too runny. Not terrible but certainly not great.
(3)Amber M.
Absolutely delicious! The food is amazing! Atmosphere is a little different, not bad, just different, go there and get really good Indian food!
(5)Jeff M.
Straight up delicious food. My favorite thing to do with my wife is get the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma, mix them together, and make a sandwich with some garlic nan. It's heaven on earth.
(5)Gary M.
This place has incredible taste and spice. You can pick your heat which makes it more enjoyable. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys indian food.
(5)Whitney W.
This place is awesome! The food is great and the staff is really friendly. I haven't had very much experience with Indian food in general, so the weekend buffet was a great experience. I got to have some of the Chicken Tikka Masala I love, and try out a few things I might not have thought to order, but which have all been delicious so far :-) PS! I just saw that they post the buffet menu on their Facebook page. I thought that was a brilliant idea. The only thing I might hope for next time is a never ending basket of naan. It empties out pretty quickly, and let's be honest, there's just never enough naan in the world when Indian food is involved lol.
(4)Jennifer A.
Very Disappointing! Food was tasty but interior was dirty & service was horrible. Our table of 4 were the only customers just after 1pm, and they served us begrudgingly. 3 different servers & none cracked a smile. We love supporting mom & pop places but we won't be back.

My favorite Indian restaurant anywhere in the US. I have had Indian food in many major US cities. I have not found any better. It's hard to believe that food this good is found in Ogden, Utah. My only advice: be careful about ordering it spicy unless you really mean it. I ordered something at five out of 10 level and found it almost too hot to eat. However, if you like your food spicy, they will find a level that satisfies. The family that owns the restaurant is a delight. They are always there working. Often their children are also present working on homework or entertaining each other. I always get takeout, so I can't really comment on the table service. Don't be surprised that hardly anyone is in the restaurant. The attendance is no reflection of the food. It is a little pricey, however I usually get at least two servings from one order which makes it worth it to me. The naan is extra but it is good. My favorite dish so far is the chicken tiki saagwala. My only complaint is that their website does not work anymore. Therefore, I find it difficult to explore other menu options.

I am an Indian. Most Indian restaurants here disappoint me, as I know what the food tastes like at restaurants back home. And seriously very few restaurants come anywhere close to the real taste! This being said, Bombay Grill always comes very close to home! Very authentic taste! Malai kofta, makhni dal and naan are just spot on! Thats how they are in india! You may not bee too impressed by the ambiance its not the best but I suggest you overlook it once n try the food. Its worth it. The owner is very nice and attentive. Good service, great food!
(4)Stephanie H.
Not a polished interior, but very good food. An 8 was almost too hot for my spicy-loving hubby!
(4)Aaron C.
Dont let the exterior discourage you from trying Bombay Grill. This has to be some of the best Indian cuisine that I've had. All entrees are spot on and the spices are excellent. This has been my goto spot for indian since moving to Ogden two years ago. Discovered a new dish tonight that has to be one of my favorites Chicken Tikka Saagwala. It combines two favorites chicken tikka masala and saag paneer into one. And I like heat so getting a level 7 was perfect with a little spice on the back of your palate and a slight mist of sweat on your brow. Oh so satisfying. Price is between $11-16 for entrees and is usually enough to share. All of the naan is extremely good and all the food is cooked to order. If you are a lover of Indian food definitely do not miss this place.
(5)Kermit S.
Good, great, grand pianos! Good Indian food, what I expected. Look in the back for the pianos.
(3)Casey R.
My favorite place to eat in Ogden. I've driven from salt lake just to eat here. Love it!
(5)Holly J.
I have been here twice in the almost ten years I have lived in Utah. Both times I have loved the food. Authentic Indian. Both times the wait was super long and I was basically the only person in the restaurant. The first time I ever dined here, it was in summer time and I decided to sit outside at one of the patio tables. A child, the owner's son, was running around in the restaurant. He decided it would be funny to shoot me with a squirt gun repeatedly. I had to get up from my table to go inform the owner. He was very apologetic and offered my my meal for free. I paid anyway because the food was delicious, but was not super happy with the experience.
(3)Nate B.
I was introduced to this fantastic place back in 2008, and have been enjoying it ever since. They have the best Chicken Tikka masala in Utah. Plus they are super friendly. Give them a go.
(5)Tim S.
My family and I are Indian food connoisseurs to say the least. We've dined at nearly every Indian restaurant in Utah and Bombay Grill tops them all! Not only do they have the best tasting Indian food, but the staff is always so warm and friendly. They treat their guests like family. This is our favorite restaurant and we've never been disappointed with the quality of their food or service.
(5)Jake P.
Hands down the best Indian food north of SLC. Food is excellent, service is ok but it's family run and they do their best. We've been coming here for 5 years now and hope they stay around for the long haul. Favorite dish is the chicken jalfrezi. If you are concerned about food being to spicy, specify less than a 3 on there 1-10 scale. It varies... We find 4-5 optimal for most dishes.
(5)Kelly S.
I LOVE Indian food. I've eaten at many different Indian restaurants in northern Utah, but I keep coming back here. Nowhere else will you find Chicken Tikka Masala so creamy and to the perfectly desired spice. I'm salivating just thinking about it. If you're in the mood for Indian, LOOK NO FURTHER. While the restaurant itself isn't fancy, or "cool", it's you're typical hole-in-the-wall establishment where you know you're guaranteed good food and service. It's family owned and their children help bring food out. I love family businesses and this is one I surely love to support.
(5)Evelyn S.
Apart from the food, that was not good, the place was filthy! Don't look up or you'll see the filth from the light fixtures floating down to your food. You could see the kitchen. ..oh don't look to close...filthy also. Are there no health inspectors in Ogden? Service was barely passable. Location? Dont go alone in the night.
(1)Troy M.
I have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed it. The food is good and the portions are generous. The service can be slow at times but it is a family run restaurant so that isn't surprising. I would and have recommended Bombay Grill to my friends.
(4)Susan P.
Service: Good. They don't check on you constantly, which is fine because they still get the job done. Water stayed full, asked how spicy to make the dishes from a scale of 1-10 and checked that we were done before taking dishes. Food: We've had Indian food in NY, NC. CA and my brother has been to India. This is the place we always go to in when in UT. Best Indian we've tried in UT. The best Saag Paneer anywhere we've tried. It was my mother's first time trying Indian so we played it safe and ordered her a kabob and let her try our curries. We all enjoyed it. Naan was soft and flavorful. Atmosphere: It is a little weird if you enter from the back entrance since you enter through what appears to be run over from the next door antique shop. The dining room is fairly nice, cloth tablecloth and napkins, plastic water cups, and nice natural light through the large windows. They also have front patio seating.
(5)Drew D.
Mango chicken curry was amazing, heat index 5 out of 10 was a good heat. Garlic nan also good. Only take MC and Visa.
(4)Spencer S.
Was looking for Indian food in Ogden. Was a little leary of this place seeing that the stars were not to high. We had the old standby Chicken Tiki Masala. It was different from what we are used to, but had great flavor and was quite good. Also, we had the Chana Coconut Masala, which was a great surprise. The flavors were excellent and complex. We ordered it on the mild side and it still had some spice. We had the Aloo Naan, which I would highly recommend. Next time we are there we will be sure to try the pashwari Naan
(5)Brandon B.
Amazing Indian food here that is always fresh. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere that is lacking in other establishments. The owners do a lot of take out and for good reason once you have tasted their dishes. The owners are eager to help you through the menu if you are willing to explore something other than tika masala. The biryani is great as is the machni and sagwalla. If you like spicy you can decide on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 is fire and 7 seems to be just right. Give this place a shot and you will love it.
(5)Warren T.
the food was good and the serice was good. the portions are ok but its just way too expensive. i could have a full course meal at a top rated restaurant for the same price
(3)Vince P.
This is truly one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. The food quality has been great every single time. The service might be a bit disorganized but the cleanliness of the place and the great flavors make up for that.
(5)Lizzy P.
Pros: Totally decent Indian food Open on Sunday Family Friendly Cons: Sketchy location (maybe that's just all of Washington in Ogden though) More pricey than most Indian places Bad Parking I took my family here to eat, and we had a decent meal on a Sunday evening. We had the place to ourselves as well. The parking options were not that great, and Ogden is just sketchy in general, but I was glad to have a good place to eat on a Sunday Evening in Utah. I'll probably return if I find myself in Ogden and needing to eat.

Here's what you'll get when you eat at the Bombay Grill: outstanding Indian food carefully prepared and served to you by the family who owns the business. - It is true, this treasure can be found in Ogden, UT. - Yes, you will pay a reasonable price for your food, and you will receive generous portions that should last you for days. If you prefer budget food that has been rotating under a heat lamp for an unspecified period and is priced according to weight and/or bulk, you can also find that in Ogden (see, The Corndog Eggroll). - You will enjoy the direct and sensible and genuine personalities of the proprietors. Unless, of course, you eat out in order to have your ego massaged by obsequious faux friends who fawn over you for your money. Then takeout might be your best move. (I realize we have a cultural bias toward "service" as servility, but a brown nose does not make food taste better.) I love the folks at Bombay Grill, but then again I hate most other people. When you order, you can get any dish according to your preferences. I recommend going vegetarian, since Indian flavors and preparations make meatlessness a joy. The veggie makhni is a personal favorite. Saag paneer is standard. So is bhindi masala (yes, I do also love meat). Occasionally the aloo chat hits the spot. You can also get their magical chile sauce on the side if you need to accommodate multiple spice needs. If you love Indian food, eat here. If you need a hug and some flair, try a chain.

As an out of towner, I was pretty shocked to discover how little is open, even in the restaurant world, on a Sunday, so I was pretty pumped when Yelp helped me find this place. Open on a Sunday? And my favorite kind of food pretty much ever? Count me in! I was not so thrilled after sitting in the restaurant for forty-five minutes and my order still hadn't been taken. So I left. Luckily, there was a taco truck on my walk back to the hotel. I would highly recommend that instead of this place.
(1)Jennifer W.
I was so happy when I moved back to Ogden and found that we had our very own Indian restaurant. Finally! No more driving clear to SLC for my samosa and curry fix. The food here is really some of THE best Indian food I have ever had. I've never had a bad experience with the food or service. My only complaints are not really that legit. 1. It is a little spendy, so I can't eat there as often as I'd like. 2. The food takes a while to make, but it is fresh. It's local, it's family-owned, it's Indian food. Eat there!
(5)Alicia R.
A little bit more legit than Sitara India, but I personally think the food is better here. Family owned and run by a husband/wife team who I'm pretty sure just moved from India about 3 years ago. The takeout is promt, the naan is delicious, and they serve it in a variety of ways. Try the Chicken curry, yum, but don't count out the Lamb, it's pretty much cooked to perfection. Bigger portions, but more expensive than other resturants around here. Tandoori is to die for. Service is ok, but for the food, soo worth it.
(5)David S.
Love coming here whenever visiting my in laws in Ogden. Best food I've had in Utah. Seriously Love the spices and friendly service. Keep up the good work. Thank you!
(5)Kristin G.
Bombay Grill is pretty easy to miss as you cruise along Washington Blvd. Located next to the now closed "Vintage Village", it's a smallish restaurant with simple decor, but don't let that stop you from trying the delicious food. The husband and wife owners are the chefs and when things are slow, also act as the wait staff. It isn't the best service in the world, but they are by no means rude or unkind, just more focused on your meal than chit-chat. The wait time for your food is a bit longer than you might typically expect for a restaurant, but there is a good reason; everything is cooked fresh in a kitchen you can see from your table. The portions are large and come with a substantial bowl of rice, which they are also happy to refill. My husband ordered the Chicken Tikki Masala, and he asked for 8 out of 10 on the spice scale. The waiter confirmed twice is that REALLY how spicy you want it? Don't say he wasn't warned! I ordered Chicken Makhni and asked for 5 out of 10. I love spicy but I had read ahead of time that their dishes are on the hot side. We also ordered a side of garlic nan, as well as a side of the Kemma Nan, which is stuffed with minced lamb. Both of us were blown away and so pleased by our food that we ate until we were absolutely stuffed. For me, the 5/10 was just hot enough anything more and I don't think I would have enjoyed the flavors as much, but my husband loved his spicy dish as well so I think it really comes down to personal taste. Don't be afraid to ask ahead of time what they suggest. This couple cooks with a Northern Indian influence, so most dishes are tomato sauce based, which happens to be my favorite. Our water glasses were kept filled and while the restaurant was fairly empty I saw several takeout orders head out of the kitchen, it did not appear to slow them down at all. As I mentioned before this is a family run restaurant with that comes children. The owner's children are in fact often in the restaurant, but they are not a nuisance at all. The younger child played quietly a few tables away while the older child kept an eye on them and did some homework. The prices are not high for the quality of the food however they are higher than I like to spend on a meal out, so we don't eat here often; but when we do we are always pleased by our food.
(3)Annaliza R.
Bombay Grill is so delicious! Pricey, but satisfying! Hubby and I ordered our usual. Chicken Tikka Masala for me and Lamb Vandaloo for him. We also ordered 1 sprite and Mango Lassi, Garlic Nann and a chicken appetizer for my nephew whose never had Indian food. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The ambiance isn't much, but that wasn't a problem for us. The food is amazing! Best Indian food I've had here in Utah. My nephew who was a first timer and not very adventurous with what he eats thought it was good too! ++ Open on Sunday!! It's a bit expensive ($14 for my entree) and the temp inside is a bit warm/hot for comfort. Our tab was around $53 not including tip.
(4)Barrett W.
I like to do business with honest people. This place is not! I won't give swindlers another dime. I've never met a host so set on refusing to redeem the certificate with their name on it. I hate being lied to, and what's worse is a persistent liar who raises volume and increases lunacy levels to save a couple of dollars. Good food, but a shady owner.
(1)Mister N.
Sorry but I have to say that this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I went here with my girlfriend and we are both crazy about Indian food. That said, we were very excited to try this place out. First off, we were made to wait so long we seated ourselves. No problem, they were really busy. But it continued. The samosas we ordered were so blazing hot the only explanation is that they were microwaved. This was later confirmed when we could see them using the microwave in the kitchen. In addition, the salt shakers were filthy and we decided to just to eat the appetizers and pay. When I told him we wanted to just pay for the appetizers, we got a horrible look from the owner, then when I went up to pay, he sort of sneered at me. I tried to pay with a card, but apparently there is a ten dollar card minimum which isn't listed anywhere. So I got two chai teas to go which we're also both WAY TOO HOT. TOO MUCH MICROWAVING AT THIS BUSINESS. Bombay bites is just down the street and WAY BETTER. Do yourself a favor and avoid this overpriced disaster of a restaurant.
(1)Sara N.
Amazing! This place is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. The service is always great and the curry is to die for! If you want a true Indian curry experience, come here! I personally recommend the korma or vindaloo with their delicious garlic naan bread.
(5)Leamington S.
The waiter was not surly, but not friendly. For lunchtime, the service was slow. The restaurant was cold, as we're the plates. There were only two other couples here during the lunch hour. The prices were high-- it cost us over $32 for two lunch specials and nan bread. We drank water. The chicken tikka masala was the worst I've ever had! Like Campbell's tomato soup and bright red food coloring. No ginger. No cilantro. No masala flavor - although it was hot. The chicken was tasteless. This was my second attempt here. This time worse than the first. I predict they'll be out of business fairly soon.
(1)Julie K.
Yay I'm a fan of their TAKE OUT. I won't go here, despite many second chances, for a sit down meal. Ther service just isn't good enough. Another benefit of take out is larger portions! Certainly the best Indian food in Ogden, but if you're wanting to sit down and get good Indian food, try Taste of India in Layton.
(4)Kyle H.
I don't have a lot of experience in Indian cuisine, however, I really enjoy the food from Bombay. I have got take-out about a dozen times and the food is always delicious, and the portions are generous. I usually get the chicken makhni, saag paneer and some garlic nan, and this usually last me about 3 days. Good food takes time to make, and this food is really good. So I usually add on about 5 -10 minutes more than they say it will take to have ready, but it is definitely worth the wait.
(4)Cambria T.
Delicious! I ordered sagwala and it was perfect. My husband had the chicken Tikka and he was in love. Food and plates were served warm, and we ordered the level of spicke we wanted... it was perfect. We also ordered some Naan... it was also perfect. Our waiter was friendly and joked around with us, which made the experience fun. We could see the one cook in the back room busting his chops to get the food out and he rocked it.
(5)Kelly F.
I just visited this place today with family for lunch. It was wonderful. The service is just ok, I find that typical for family run restaurants but as you can see it didn't sway my rating. We ordered Garlic Nan, Chicken Tikka, Saag Paneer, Bhindi Masala, and Indian Salad. All was wonderful, the nan was not burnt and cooked to perfection. Chicken Tikka had a wonderful flavor and a Medium spice was just right for that flavorful kick that doesn't overpower the taste buds. Saag Paneer is a Vegetarian dish of cream spinach sauce with homemade cubed cheese, wonderful flavor. I'm a bit of a sucker for Indian cheese and this was done well. Bhindi Masala is another vegetarian dish of fried Okra, onions and spices. This was amazing, my family has southern roots and we are a sucker for good Okra and this fit the bill. Salad was everything that you would expect it to be. At the end of the meal we where given a taste of there Mango (Mango Kulfi) and Almond (Kheer) Ice creams as a free treat. Now we did spend $50 for this meal without any drinks and I think this was a nice way of thanking us for our business. We did not expect it and gladly appreciated it. If I lived in the area I would frequent this restaurant whenever I needed my Indian Fix. Cheers! ogdenbombaygrill.com

Food is okay not great and the place sucks. It smells dusty inside and it needs a lot of maintenance. Btw, food is very pricey.

I have had Indian food in and around major cities like Boston and New York and BOMBAY GRILLE in Ogden, Utah is my benchmark. I have also compared it to those voted "the best" in nearby Salt Lake. It is currently the best I have ever had. They have set a high bar for all other restaurants. I have only really eaten at one that was a close second. First, it's a nice space decorated nicely with well laid out tables and place settings. You could have a really nice date here. The owner's kid might be quietly playing near by and the kitchen is built out into the space but I like it -- feels more friendly that way. The food usually comes out of the kitchen in a decent amount of time. Not too long, not too short. Weekdays it is only the owner and his wife on staff because they're a smaller place so I would call in advance if you are bringing a large party. Weekends they usually seem to have plenty of servers and staff. The food is on the spicy end, so if you are not used to it be warned. Get the mango lassi to cool down! I like mine at about a "medium" at Bombay Grille and I tend to like my food SPICY. But it isn't just overwhelmed with spice it is flavorful. I especially recommend the Saag Paneer. Like all indian dishes, it looks terrible on the platter but it is delicious here. My husband's favorite, and a nice introduction to Indian food is the Chicken Tikka Masala. Also, the garlic naan is well worth the extra expense. Take out is always great and you seem to get a little more food than if you dined in. Always quoted "20 minutes" and never has that been off by more than a few minutes. I wish this restaurant well in a poor economy and a city not known for its Indian food! I hope it's there next time I go or I will have to slide my scale down a little!
(5)Ian D.
Excellent food and friendly service. Highly recommended.
(4)C P.
My favorite place to eat in Ogden. My favorite dish is the vegetable coconut curry!
(5)Chris A.
Great food, I go there everytime I'm in Ogden. Family owner and run. Go on a weekday to avoid the crowd. Take out great too!
(5)Rob W.
This place serves basic, reasonably well-executed Indian food. Service is slow though. I like Sitara a bit better - but that's probably a matter of personal preference.
(3)Rebecca W.
Really good. I thought the service was great when we went. I thought it was a little pricey, but I will definitely be going back...maybe I will check out their lunch specials. I tried Sitara today to see how it compared and I totally regret it. I wish I would have just gone here.
(4)Lauren S.
They have good authentic Indian food. The service is horrible at best. It is family owned, the wife & husband do all the cooking, cleaning, and serving. So it's understandable that the service is as bad as it is. It is a little overpriced but good food overall.
(3)Joshua S.
This place is great. I've been here a couple times and the food is very good. It also helps that the place is really just a husband and wife running a business. It's pretty crazy how you can see into the kitchen and it is just them making it. I love this place and I love how Ogden finally got an Indian restaurant.
