Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Eh. This was really so-so. I asked to try the different chicken offerings (grilled and mango) the mango didn't have the flavor it claimed and actually just tasted like a stew chicken meat, the grilled chicken is what I went with in a burrito. I tried the rice, black beans, a mix of the medium and hot salsa as well as sour cream and lettuce- I too felt that they skimped on the quantity of ingredients. I managed to eat about half of the burrito and then decided I didn't care about getting my values worth so I stopped eating it because it really wasn't great. I wouldn't bother coming back. I've been to chipotle, cafe rio and costa Vida and all three are much better than the food here. I spent almost $8 with no add ons or a drink and I would've had a much better value going to any of the competitors around. They don't mix the ingredients before wrapping so beware you may have several bites of cold ingredients before getting to the part you want to enjoy. There were 3 employees working and no one else in the establishment- I felt rushed, she didn't ask if I wanted to dine in and just gave me my food to-go so I grabbed my water from the car and sat down to eat. I would suggest sparing yourself and going somewhere you know is tasty. Hope this helps yelpers!

Great burrito made fast and the way you want it. My favorite lunch spot. The staff is great and friendly. Give them a try. Only downside is they are closed on Sunday.

All that really needs to be said about this place is that it's cheap ($5 for a burrito AND a drink at the time of this review), it's good, and unless it's really busy (which is rare) they're quick. I'm surprised to see so few people here whenever I come in. As for a recommendation, my usual is a wheat burrito with black beans, white rice, a mix of sweet and spicy pork, with sour cream and hot sauce. Can't go wrong!

Nothing spectacular about this place. It's just ok.

Our family loves this place. New comers may notice that it has a similar feel to other chain restaurants like Costa Vida, Cafe Rio or Bajios. Barbacoa serves similar food items so if you're in the mood for that kind of Mexican food you've come to the right place. The service is friendly and they make no mistakes on your order. The wait time is relatively low for this style of restaurant. Not to mention the popularity of the other restaurants (Costa Vida, etc.) means you'll have to wait in longer lines at those places before you can even take your order whereas Barbacoa has shorter lines, esp. during lunch and dinner rushes. They are super cool about taking coupons (to feed starving college students, lol) and they are not stingy or rude about it. Our family's favorite is the Sweet-Pork Salad with Chipotle sauce. You get a lot for your buck and you leave feeling full and satisfied. The location is great. It's near Weber State University, it's near a frozen yogurt place called Cheri-Berry and on Saturdays you can go to Benion Crafts to make a free card and then go here for lunch. The only thing that trips me out is that there used to be a Hollywood Video/Game Crazy were it is now, lol. I give it 5 stars. I hope it can gain some popularity. We love this place and the food.

The food was just so-so. I had a chicken salad and there wasn't a tortilla and for the tortilla strips it would have been 99 cents more. Although they did put a generous serving of sour cream on it. The portions were a good size. Although I still prefer Cafe Rio or Costa Vida. But the really nice thing about here is that it is very clean and the workers friendly.

There's definitely things to like about this Barbacoa restaurant. The food is a great addition to an area starved for good menu choices and the wait staff is incredibly friendly. The restaurant is easy to get to, in and out of, and has plenty of parking. The lunch business was hopping today and the staff was fast, efficient, and delivered food that was visually appealing as well as delicious. The pricing seems pretty good at $10 for huge buritto and a drink. The steak buritto I ordered was tender and fresh, a change from some competition where the steak seems to be tough and end cuts. The "hot" sauce truly was "hot" and I loved that too. I am glad we have some choices in this neighborhood. I have a feeling the lunch business will become insane as people discover this location but dinner should be a quick in-n-out since this is mostly a business area.

Skimpy burritos. Slow service. They nickel and dime you for everything. Too bad they can't do better. I keep giving them one more chance, but I think I give up.
