Walked out before being seated. Was asked to wait while 60% of the tables were open. During our wait we listened to a server and the hostess argue. After 15 minutes of waiting with no service we bailed. Do yourself a favor - go someplace else.

Terrible service. The restaurant was not busy. We were 1 of 4 tables. We sat for 10 minutes before the waitress came to apologize for the wait but didn't even take our drink order. When she finally came back we placed our food and drink order. Watched her come and go from the kitchen at least 5 times without even bringing the water we requested. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes without even water we left. It isn't worth the money at this place for such crappy service.

Horrible! Slow service terrible food. Brought our oatmeal looked like a lumpy burrito . Dry terrible! Server brought out all but two orders waited forever.

This place used to feel high class. It now feels like a Denny's. The bathrooms are in terrible shape. The floors are dirty and dingy. The windows had dead flies in them. I used to eat here two to three times a month. Now after my last visit I know why I stopped. Service was slow. But she was nice. Food quality was not the same. Mimi's that was my last visit. I am never coming back. It started going downhill years ago when refill on a glass of milk was free now they charge for it. I can buy a gallon for what they charge for one glass.

The steak was cooked good and the frites needed a little more crisp to them. It was cold in the dining area that we were sat. The manager was nice and turned it down despite the hostess saying she was hot and then later that she could not turn it down. The biggest reason for the 3 stars was for the reason that even though the steak was good it was not worth the price. I could get a really melt in your mouth steak in an average steak house for the same price or less. Then the only thing that undid get with the steak were the frites granted there were a ton but some seasonal veggie could have gone a long way to not only add color to the dish but a fresh flavor as well.

Normally, I'm a huge fan of this place. Since their menu change, I'm not so sure how often I'll be coming back. Pros: complimentary carrot cake, good for large groups, big dining room area and cool decor on the walls, offers a full bar, sizable portions, nice kids menu, plenty of parking, not a huge wait, the linguini with mussels and spicy marinara sauce was good and not too spicy in my opinion, my friend really enjoyed his meatloaf and potatoes. Cons: ran out of the pot roast, my friends steak was ordered medium rare and came out almost well done, service was just okay, tables are in somewhat close proximity to other diners depending on where you are seated, longer wait than usual to get the bread and carrot cake as complimentary starters. Being that it was a Sunday night in Utah, it was a great relief this restaurant is open later. Everyone had a pretty good time and mostly enjoyed their dishes-- maybe this new menu just needs some more time to grow on me.

In an attempt to differentiate themselves from the myriad of other (and presumably less worthy chains), MImi's has elected to take a swing at upscale and not only upscale, but French-inspired or -based upscale. If you don't get that by the decorations, there are a couple million placards on the walls explicitly telling you so. Decor is supposed to be fun and light-hearted, I'm guessing, but comes off more like someone told someone else how to decorate it in the sort of Parisian style and based on that, they just went with it. The old Americana dressing is oddly also still present in several places, which makes for a curious incongruity. At one time, due mostly to proximity, myself and my wife (girlfriend at the time) went there a bit before we finally gave up due to some massive problems with the place (and also a move across town). Those problems were mainly inept and/or slow service and a substandard menu. With the new French lean, we stopped by again and those same problems persisted. New decor, new menu, same problems. Execution by the kitchen is still iffy. Over-medium eggs, which I order as a fail-safe at kitchens I can't or don't trust, came out just barely over-easy. The French toast was also somewhat severely underdone and was a major miss. Add to that cheap tea, an anemic fruit bowl and bland pancakes and the only thing winding up being good was the bacon. Wife had coffee she compared to Dee's and the crepes, which would have been somewhat better had they not also been burnt. Neither plate had $11 of food on it, though. If you're going to shoot for upscale, more than anything, you have to deliver on the food. It's a must. All the kitschy pseudo-Euro decor in the world won't help if you can't complete the deal. On the plus side, the hostess was very nice and the bathrooms were clean. Other than that, we're talking mostly average, mostly poorly executed food at an excessive price. It's been about 4 years or so since I've been there and it will take a minor miracle to get me there again.

Oh my, baked brie...mmmmm. My first visit was very fun!!! I loved the chicken salad and French Soup. I loved the decore, the colors, the variety.
(5)Mars A.
We were left waiting at the front, unacknowledged for quite a while. When our food finally arrived we were not pleased at the minuscule portions for the cost. The food was bland, lukewarm and utterly unimaginative lacking even pepper or salt. My side "fruit bowl" consisted of three orange slices and four red grapes. This place has been going downhill for some time. We will not be coming back.

I have been to Mimi's Cafe a few times. This is the first time since they changed their menu. Some of their signature dishes have been removed from the menu including the linguine with mussel in a spicy sauce. The restaurant is nice and clean. It's good for groups and kids. They have crayons for kids and kids menu. They kept their complimentary carrot cake and dinner roll. We ordered the Guacamole & Chips and Calamari as starter. The homemade guacamole dipping was as good as usual. I thought the calamari batter was a little too thick. It's as hard as onion rings. They changed the menu so drastically, even the server didn't know where the steak was on the menu and what choices we have available. He made the effort to go back and asked the manager and gave us what we wanted. The server was nice and helpful. He checked on our drinks and how we were doing regularly. Service is a 4 star. We ordered a Bouillabaisse, Meatloaf and a NY steak as main course. The bouillabaisse was not bad for Mimi's standard. Seafood wise, they cooked it just right to get the favored in the seafood and to get rid of the bitterness from frozen seafood. (It's Utah, so I can't expect anything fresh like I'd get from the coast cities) Meatloaf is homemade and cooked just right. It's comparatively better than most of the chain restaurants. NY steak, it's not the best cut. We ordered a medium rare and it was cooked as we expected. Mimi's price slightly high for their service and food quality. $17.99 for steak they served was a bit over-priced compared to their competition. We expect something just a little better.
(3)Michael T.
Great abeyance and the food is good tasting and presented good. Service was prompt and nice, restaurant wasn't too loud.
(5)Joe D.
Good home style cooked food. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and others in our group had the Turkey Dinner. The entrees tasted great and looked very fresh. Our server was very friendly and prompt to refill our beverages. Overall, this place is great for comfort food at an affordable price. #mimiscafe #801 #slc

I have been to this location many times. This time it was with some girlfriends of mine and two small children. The service was wonderful, although I think our server was new he was very professional. The atmosphere at Mimi's is a lot of fun, French Creole decorations and good music to boot. Two of us had the chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich which was amazing, tomato soup also very good. The chicken Tillamook cheddar Mac was out of this world! And when going to Mimi's one must always have one of their muffins. Overall, one of my favorite chain restaurants.
(4)Brittney N.
Mimis seems to be following a disturbing trend in chain restaurants.... This trend includes reducing portion size and jacking up prices. True you get free bread/muffins (if you ask), but when I'm paying upwards of $15 a plate for a standard American meal, I would hope that it would come with a dinner salad.... But not here. If you want a salad, then you need to pay extra. By the time you are done here you are looking at more like $20 a person for a full meal, and I'm sorry... The quality of food does not merit the cost. Don't get me wrong, the food is a step up from Dennys, but not to the extent that they are charging. Now let's talk about the service. I really feel bad for the servers because I don't think it is their fault that the kitchen is dragging it's feet. I also think we came during a shift change so our server was a little distracted. Overall, friendly though, and I feel like he tried to make our experience positive. But seriously... We both left hungry. For what you are paying, the portion sizes are unacceptable. If you want to do smaller portions then that is totally cool, but charge accordingly. This is a prime example of why we avoid chain restaurants for the most part, they have lost touch with serving their customers.
(1)Melissa R.
The service was great. However, the French dip bread was soggy (probably rewarmed in the microwave) and the French fries were inedible. Cold, greasy and soggy. There was paper litter all over the floor. Since it was after the lunch hour, I would expect them to do a quick sweep up. To be fair, my husband's salad was excellent. When I told the server that the French fries were bad, he agreed but didn't offer anything. I probably won't return to this location. A shame since I love Mimi's! Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

I really like this place! I have been there a few times for breakfast and the last time was for lunch. For breakfast I have the waffles with strawberries and let me tell you, they were sooo good! I ordered that a couple of times since I had them first. For lunch, I tried their MacNCheese with pulled Chicken minus the bacon (Ya know them Muslims don't do Pork :P ) But that dish though, I am still tasting it in my mouth, I would order it over and over. Customer service was very nice, and very friendly so I can't complain about that at all. Over all that is a great location and good spot.
(4)Melody G.
Mimi's has gone downhill over the last few years. Previously the service was prompt, food was fresh, and everything was clean. Ate here today; our server didn't acknowledge us for 10 minutes. Our food took 30 minutes. Problems that aren't easy to overlook--Dirty silverware, some green pepper was embedded in my strawberry waffle, scrambled eggs with grayish and green hues to it--food looked like it had sat under a heat lamp for a long time. To the server's credit, she did bring another waffle to replace the other one. Just a let down though. Had to get up and ask the hostess for ketchup and tabasco because our server was nowhere to be found. The last time we visited this location we had the same disappointing, lackluster experience. We won't return.
(1)Bryan G.
Just ate here. I gave them a second chance but I have to say.....average. It's not the money but principle....$6 for hot chocolate , my fault for not asking. They asked if she wanted another and said yes. Got the bill ...$12. Just everything was average. Won't come back.
(2)Scott R.
I received a gift certificate for Mimi's. I had eaten there one other time and it wasn't anything that I remembered. So when I came back I was really surprised on how good the food was. I ordered the jambalaya noodle dish. It was a huge portion and I had plenty to take home with me. The complimentary bread basket was good. And had 3 different breads. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will come back for sure.
(4)Rosa H.
My bread pudding is...drowning!!! I'm so not kidding. Check out the pix above. So I rewrote this review like 3 times. It's my first review EVER and I just feel bad that it has to be a negative one on a restaurant I used to like. But hey, it disappointed me first. Ok so the meal wasn't that bad. It's average, on the same level as what you'd expect from a place like TGIF/Oliver Garden etc etc. We started off with "fresh squeezed" strawberry lemonade. All I can taste was sugar, sugar, and wait, is that strawberry? My bad. It's more sugar. Next we each got a soup and salad. I got the caesar salad. Nothing special. My friend had the chicken jambalaya. Tasted mushy and bleh. Our dinners were the teriyaki salmon and the seafood fettucini. These were actually decent. Here is the description from the website: SEAFOOD FETTUCINI- $14.99 Fettuccine tossed with crab meat, mushrooms, spinach & asiago cream sauce. Topped with jumbo seared scallops, a garlic shrimp skewer and diced tomatoes The scallops were actually decent size. The shrimp, on the other hand, were a bit skimpy. The sauce was decent, although it was a bit heavy and there were way too much. I could barely taste my pasta. I couldn't find the description for the teriyaki salmon. It was a nice size portion, simply prepared with a glace so slightly sweet and tangy. Came with a side of steamed vegetables and fingerling potatoes. I almost like it better than the fettucini because it didn't taste so overwhelming. My friend was on a quest for good bread pudding, so we decided to give it a shot. Again, here's the description from the website: MIMI'S BREAD PUDDING-$4.99 Baked from scratch with plump raisins, vanilla & a special spice blend. Served warm with buttery whiskey sauce When the actual thing arrived, it took us a whole minute before we even dared to take a bite. The entire pudding was DROWNING in the "butter whiskey sauce". The entire thing, up to maybe an 1/2 inch from the top of the bread pudding itself, was sitting in a bowl of the sauce. Then it was topped with a gigantic tower of whipped cream. Not only did it look gross, it didn't taste that good. We both took one bite and gave up. I tried tearing off a little piece off of the top where it hasn't touched the sauce, and it was actually pretty good. If they had only gone easy on the sauce...sigh. When the server came by to drop off the check, she saw us sitting there with the pudding virtually untouched and asked "so you didn't like it?" And then walked away. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other restaurants who actually cares about what people think of their food, but the least she could do was offer to replace it with another item or take the item off of our check. The experience was disappointing. I don't think I would ever go back again or recommend a friend to go. It's kind of sad, because when I first visited there 3 years ago for lunch, I actually loved it. Maybe their lunch (I had sandwhich and soup) is actually decent. But definitely not worth it for dinner. My one recommendation for the kitchen: go easy on your sauces. I might actually be able to taste the food.

We usually always stop in salt lake city on our way east. Last year we went to mimis and were so pleased that we decided to go back again on this trip. Very disappointing! Waitress was super nice but her service had a lot to be desired. :( My husband ordered pot roast and a salad. Hmm..the main course came but we had to chase her down to get the salad. And his pot roast was full of fat. Then we noticed that all the tables around us had a basket of bread. Once again I had to literally get up and go find her. I asked if we were supposed to have received bread at our table. ...her response (spoken very nicely) was "well, sometimes"! Really? ?? Probably not going to stop again. .

Omgsh! What a rip off...salmon egg Benedict...really? Naaaasty. I'm sorry but I rather have..-listen carefully IHOP- cold food, water down Oj...and the server -I'm sorry- the worst breath ever. Never again!!!!
(1)Shantell H.
Pretty good food. I had their meatloaf and mash. Our waiter was nice and helpful as well as brought us refills prior to asking.
(4)Mrs. Mischelle H.
Been going here for years. I feel it was much more impressive then than now. Though they've always experimented with the menu, the the current one is by far the worst offering--smaller selection and portions. At least they did bring back some of the best entrèes they'd eliminated on their "Cafè Classics" menu--including Chicken Parm which in my opinion is one of the best in the Valley.
(3)Tys T.
So I went here tonight and it was DISGUSTING! I'm not picky, but I think I would have rather gone to McDonald's! The food was not good and for price we spent, I was not impressed. We also had to wait twenty minuets at our table for the check. The food and service here sucked!
(1)Kathryn L.
I am not impressed. The decor is odd. The furniture dilapidated. The carpet was filthy. And the food was 'Meh'. My wine had floaties in it and the glass was dirty. I had to ask my waiter a couple of times for a glass of water before he responded. I am a sucker for French Onion soup so I was excited to see it on the menu. MISTAKE! What I got was a bland broth with giant hunks of RAW onions topped by a giant blob of bread and disgusting, greasy, extremely salty, mystery cheese. Our waiter was super slow but to top it off, while we waited for our entrees, we had a ringside view to the staff loudly goofing off right at the entrance to the kitchen. My meal came and I was once again disappointed. My pot roast had a nice flavor but there was more meat than fat, the vegetables were raw and bland. Definitely a waste of my money.
(1)Jason M.
The new seasonal menu with Frites looks incredible. Heres my advice I would only look at the fantastic pictures and then put it down and order from the menu. My frites were no different than my sons fries. The food here is normally a step above other establishments in its price range. The service at this location however is extremely slow. If your in any rush consider another option.
(3)Monica V.
I recently visited Mimi's Cafe for breakfast, and I thought it was okay. I had the Mimi's Original Quiche Lorraine. The description stated it would have hickory-smoked bacon, swiss cheese and onions in a pastry shell, but it was made up of mostly pastry. My dining companions had the Pomme Lyonnaise Benedict and the Le California Avocado BLT Omelette, and they both enjoyed their dishes. I guess I'll have to choose my meal a little better next time haha.
(3)Brian B.
Utterly flavorless breakfast. Specialty BLT Avocado Omelet - no flavor. Regular blueberry muffin - revolting. I specifically confirmed that this was not a "fat free" muffin but I am 100% sure it was fat free - gross. I remember when Mimi's used to have scrumptious food but this was a waste of calories. I should have eaten at the IHOP next door.
(1)Angie H.
A friend and I popped in for lunch today. They have a great lunch deal - Cup of soup or salad, with a half sandwich. 2 salads, 4 soups, and 5 sandwiches to choose from. $8.50 - and they promise to have it delivered in 15 minutes (or it's free). I chose the French Onion Soup, and the Grilled Cheese Five Ways, it's cheddar, jack, Swiss and mozzarella on grilled garlic parmesan sourdough. The French Onion Soup is absolutely delicious, and the grilled cheese was superb! What a great way to grab a quick lunch with friends, and not break the bank!
(4)Chrystal F.
They got rid of the Bleu cheese petite filet - The filet was the best thing on the menu and they got rid of it. RIP. :( On another note they have this amazing carrot bread that tastes like carrot cake. It's a dark brown color. It is the greatest bread I have ever tasted.
(4)Lance S.
Had a great trip the first time with our family. They were super great with the kids we Ended up leaving a 30$ tip! for but this last attempt makes me worried. We came in to have dinner. The restaurant wasn't too busy but we waited 15 minutes for a table for 7, they claim they are cleaning the table but there weren't anybody cleaning the tables in sight. The hostesses were standing around chatting. We decided to leave and go to another place. Guess they didn't need our business.
(2)David S.
New bad menu.......not Mimi's anymore....it's too bad was a favorite dining place for my family

I've been going to Mimi's Cafe in Denver since I was in middle school, I'm 25 now so do the math. Anyways! It's always been really good! A great go to after church or to meet family or friends and the food was fresh and delicious. We went recently to this location as I have relocated to SLC and I was monumentally disappointed. My husband kept saying "that place sucks it's gross." And I loyally defended Mimi's honor. Boy did I get "I told you so" over and over again. It was pretty f*cking gross. I had the French dip, pretty sure it was microwaved. In fact I'm positive it was. The plate was molten lava hot and the food was about room temperature. The au ju tasted like water. All around gross. My husband had the chicken pot pie which tasted strangely sour? Idk it was just bad. We had the three dessert thing. We didn't even eat it. And we are fatties that covet desserts . It took a lot to let them go to waste. The server was great though!
(1)Joe S.
A long time customer for years but only go once or twice a year. Generally speaking the food and service is good in my experience. My wife developed celiac disease last year and we recently went back for the first time since then. She has to give the wait person specific instructions in order to get her meal cooked gluten free. She asked for her entree to be cooked in a separate skillet so that it would not be contaminated from the main grill with gluten. The waitress said no problem. Later in the day my wife got very sick leading her to believe that in fact it was not cooked separately but on the main grill. Both my daughter and I were fine so I don't believe it was food poisoning. So somewhere there was a breakdown with either the instructions (or lack of) the waitress gave the kitchen or what the kitchen actually did. Unfortunately we won't be going back.
(2)Kim T.
I honestly don't understand the bad reviews! We have been here several times and we love it. This is the place I take someone for breakfast when I want to impress. The atmosphere and ambiance is so nice and love the fireplace. We always have had good service here. The breakfast is above average, the country potatoes are awesome and I love the side choices they give you. I always get one of their delicious homemade muffins, which you can also buy there. We will be back over and over again. Highly recommend! Please try it out ... I really don't get the undeserved bad reviews.

I went to Mimi's last night. I haven't been there in about a year. I used to love Mimi's and now I will never go there again. Our server was really nice and I've always experienced quality service at Mimi's. However, they changed their menu and have completely gone downhill with quality and uphill with price. They used to have a really good deal for a soup or salad, main and dessert for about $10. You can still get a soup or salad and a main for about $10, but no dessert. The chicken crepe used to be my favorite. Last night, I had the crepe and Caesar salad. My thought was how in the world can you go wrong with salad? There was way too much sauce on the salad. There was sauce for the crepe, but I had no idea there was already sauce inside the crepe. The crepe was soggy and there was no flavor to anything. Such a disappointment. One more restaurant in Salt Lake to not go to. Really disappointed, Mimi's. You were my favorite, but not anymore. Not at all.
(1)Sandi T.
It's been awhile since I've been to Mimi's and boy has it changed!- and not in a good way. It basically has turned into a wanna be French Bistro sandwich shop. They have a new menu and its offerings are very few and boring. Their pot roast used to be my favorite!! Imagine ,my surprise when I went to order it and the server informed me they won't be serving it until the 20th of this month. WTF??? So back to pondering the "sandwiches". I settled on a burger with a fancy French name (I'm being sarcastic here). It was served on very thin toasted sourdough bread- and I mean thin. But it was very well made and came with an impressive array of great toppings and in all honesty was tasty. The fries that came with it were the cheapo frozen variety and lukewarm. There is nothing worse than fries that are not piping hot. My companion had the turkey dinner and it came with a very yummy dressing, brocolli, heaping mashed potatoes and again just warm in temperature suggesting these dishes sat around awhile which is surprising considering the restaurant was almost empty. And no roll or bread offering?? I remember the days when Mimi's brought out a basket of assorted rolls and soup was offered with your entree. No more- soup is almost $4.00 more. And what happened to the bowl of mints left by the door as you left? My purse misses the handful I would scoop up as I left. Mimi's has really gone downhill and I predict they will not be around too much longer.
(2)Joseph M.
Very, very very small salmon portion for the price. It was a little too salty. The rice was very good however. I'll go back to give it a second try, but no time soon.
(3)Virginia C.
breakfast okay, lunch not too bad dinner bad, dessert is microwaved eww. do not recommend this place its over rated over priced and I have never been really impressed with anything here but the service.
(2)Ken w.
The old menu was great the new one is French with neworleans twist. Not very good!! The bread is still good
(1)Charles S.
Most of their menu is fatty, butter-saturated comfort food. It's so rich, in fact, that I never feel "comfortable" after a meal at Mimi's. It always leaves me with a stomach ache. The ambiance is great and the service is usually very good too. Mimi's serves an excellent Cobb salad... And I'm definitely Not a "salad guy." I finally found a meal at Mimi's that satisfies and leaves me feeling really good. Take your own bottle of wine to save some $$$.
(3)Kevin O.
Slow service, mediocre menu and cold food did not impress me tonight. Look elsewhere
(1)Nicole D.
Went for dinner even though I know this place is more well- known for its good breakfast. Had a burger (sans bun) and husband had a Mediterranean pasta dish. He liked his a lot, mine was just okay. This is not a gluten free-friendly restaurant which is why I probably give it a lower score than it deserves. Husband also liked the pre-dinner bread, not just one type of bread but at least four!
(3)Paylish P.
Man, this place used to rock my world... I loved everything about it, but they must have fallen on hard times or revamped something because everything now tastes like microwave special. Bring back my old Mimi's!
(2)Casey W.
Disgusting, flavorless food. Not to mention the service was terrible! The kids macaroni and cheese is literally from a Kraft box. The new revamped menu is filled with odd dishes. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
(1)Eric R.
Service was bad, with a host which was unfriendly. The portions of food were small for the price, quality was mediocre. La Femme was the meal I selected, dry bread with the sandwhich. Chose the fruit for the side highly discourage it since the portion size is made for children, containing only half a piece of cantaloupe in the bowl, horrible .
(1)H. W.
I like the lunch special menu! Citrus Basil Shrimp & Baby Greens Salad with Cup of Corn Chowder is my favorite. Coffee is not that good, but you can certainly get other beverage. Lunch speical is 10.99, offer from 11am to 4pm. (I used to like Citrus Broiled Shrimp and Asparagus, but it's not on the Lunch special menu anymore)
(4)Craig E.
We went here for the Salty Theater Show and we were sat 6 to a booth. It was WAY CROWDED and UNCOMFORTABLE. These tables were not meant to sit 6 people comfortably and this is OBVIOUS. In other words, as hosts they care little for the comfort of their guests. As for their service, it was fine under the conditions of dinner theater. We asked for vegetarian options and they have a 3 or 4 but they were not on the menu for the show. There are a ton of women coming to these shows--why wouldn't you put some light options, if not vegetarian on the special menu? The 1129 sandwich (can't remember the number) was not tasty. Obviously they are not into vegetarian cuisine--and with food like that, who would be? The Salty Theater was really fun. Mimi's Cafe was a flop. Unfortunately restaurants with good food don't need to bring in a great show to get customers so it's unlikely the Salty Theater will ever come to a better than mediocre restaurant.
(2)Ann L.
Very loud noise, must be the floors & ceiling echoing as there weren't that many people there. Service was quick and attentive. But the food was disappointing. I had the corn chowder, based on other reviews. So-so taste, kinda bland, but thick and creamy. Then I had the crab fritters. Nice and crunchy but I couldn't really taste crab. Came with french fries which were OK. Everything was served hot, which is always good. My companion liked his pot roast but I didn't taste it so I am giving a 2nd-hand opinion on it.
(2)Eric C.
dont eat here. you can find better food in your local toilet. service is bad and creepy! dont eat here.
(1)Sam S.
Mimi's Cafe is a cute restaurant that is nicely decorated and well staffed. I've eaten at this location at least a dozen times and I've always had great service. I used to really like Mimi's food but over time either my tastes have changed or their food has. Maybe both... I don't know. Their food is very fatty and oily -- which tends to wreck havoc on my stomach for some reason. Portions are very generous so there's always a lot to eat but like I said I've sort of lost my taste for their food...
(3)James C.
Love this place, it's not healthy but it taste great!
(4)Greg D.
Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night and was surprised to arrive to no wait, alright that's either good service or bad food. Well the service was good all night so I'll chalk it up to that. I had the clam chowder and it was pretty good. Nothing like what you would get on the coast but hey it's understandable. My wife got some chicken & spaghetti dinner that was fairly good. This place is alright, nothing to write home about. Now what I'd really like to talk about: the bathroom. It was clean and stench-free so don't think I'm about to go down that road. No I'd like to forewarn you about their nefarious sinks. Two things are going to happen when you use them. First, you're going to scald your hands before you realize that the hot water has only two settings: off or magma-esque heat. Second, when you finally decide to just turn off the hot water and put your hands in, the low basin height will cause the water to splash straight into your crotch. Yes you will walk out looking like you pissed yourself. Have a good evening, I'm glad I had already married my date.

I love Mimi's! Before I saw their grill cheese on Food Network I wouldn't have cared if I ever ate there again. The other dishes that I have had are OK, but the grill cheese is absolutely amazing. The portions are pretty big, and I usually end up bringing half of my sandwich home. They use either 5 or 7 different cheeses (I'm pretty sure it's 7) for the grill cheese. The cheese is just short of overwhelming. The best part about it though is the bread! They spread a Parmesan spread over the bread instead of butter before they put it in the pan, so the crunch is cheese flavored. I'm a complete grill cheese snob, but Mimi's blew me away.

As a past employee of Mimi's in southern california, I was disappointed in some of my favorite menu items that were selected for elimination. The latest menu seems to have strayed from what Mimi's used to be quite a bit. However, with that being said, I didn't really find a fault with the new menu. Perhaps there are too many options to the point that making a decision is harder than I would like, but I suppose that just means I need to go back and try them all. Woe is me.

Wonder concept of the breakfast - Crap Cake Benedict - does that not sound wonderful, it was not. The cake was soggy tasteless, the eggs were rocks not juice and creamy. Come on guys you have let the food loss all its quality.

Mimis is a nice place to come...every once in a while. It's pretty good as long as you order right. Today's visit was thanks to the Free Kids Meals certificates the kids earned through the Murray Library Summer Reading Program (mad props Mimis for sponsoring this!!!). The kids menu had lots of options including some healthy choices. Calorie info was listed too. I ordered a half sandwhich and cup of soup. I highly recommend the french onion soup. I order it just about every time I come. I also added on a mini wedge salad, which was definitely worth the $3 to add it on. At dinnertime they bring a basket of muffins and bread that I love, but I rarely come for dinner. I wish that bread basket was available on the lunch menu. As for service... today's waiter was kind lacking. Forgot my soup, forgot the kids' desserts, didn't ask which type of bread we wanted for our sandwhiches or which sides we'd prefer. The chocolate mint candies on the way out were nice. Better than the standard peppermint or cinnamint. The overall experience was alright, as usual.

Although it wasn't busy, we experienced a long wait for our food, which, when it came, was lukewarm at best. My husband's coffee cup had a big lipstick stain, which we pointed out to the waiter who said defensively "it's still clean." There were 3 pieces of eggshell in my husband's eggs, but the waiter didn't seem to care. We talked to the mgr. because we thought she shd know if there was a problem in the kitchen. She was pleasant, but didn't seem concerned about the low standard of quality. We used to go to Mimi's once in awhile, but after this experience, we probably won't go back anytime soon.

I love Mimi's Cafe. My only complaint is how LOUD it is when they are busy. I love the honey bran muffin-yes I know, it has bran, but it is SO delicious! I also love the East Coast Reuben and really should venture out on trying something different but I usually get that! I usually go on a Monday so I can enjoy their Split Pea soup-which you can't find at too many restaurants and I love it! Service can be hit or miss, but usually I luck out and have decent service. For a chain restaurant-this one is pretty decent!

Good diner style food. Maybe it was because we had spent several days eating at the hospital cafeteria across the street, but this place offered us comfort food galore. The Mashed potatoes are really good with a nice homestyle gravy. Food: B good quality, huge portions, nothing too fancy Atmosphere: B cozy diner feel Service: C a bit on the slow side with only mildly friendly staff and they offered to sit us directly in front of the kitchen door, even though the place was practically empty.

Gee whiz, do you think Mimi is really in the kitchen?!

I recently went here and had the pot roast as I have a number of times in the past. This time I wasn't very impressed, the piece of meat was a smaller portion than in the past and was very fatty. The vegetables on the plate consisted of 3 small broccoli crowns and 5 carrot slices and the gravy was very commercialized. On the plus side my wife enjoyed her salad and the service was good. If you go just stay away from the pot roast.

We recommend avoiding Mimi's for breakfast. Our hopes were high because we've had good evening meals at Mimi's in Sandy. We walked in the door and waited 5 minutes before anybody noticed we were there (we should have hightailed it across the parking lot to I-Hop at that point). Eventually got seated and served lukewarm coffee. Tried 3 cups, all lukewarm. I had the caprese omelet which (except for the fresh mozzarella) tasted like...nothing. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't have any flavor whatsoever. Ingredients promised on the menu weren't in the omelet. There are a couple upsides: Our waitperson was helpful and friendly. Breakfast comes with juice (albeit from concentrate) and a muffin that was decadent and delicious.

This restaurant is a little pricey but the food is worth it for it portions. The music they play is jazz style and the interior Mardi Gra-esque or French quarter style. The bread basket they serve before the meal is especially awesome.
