Moochie’s Meatballs and More Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The best philly steak in the valley. The meatball sandwiches are just fair on my opinion. There is not enough seating so be prepared to stand during busy times. My biggest complaint is the price. I think the price of the food is a little high.

Horrible torn up driveway, don't turn in off state st. Unless you want to hit the giant pot hole, glad I spotted it I would of ruined my rims. The menu has to be picked up as if you were to sit down at a decent restraint with a server. Instead you have to stand there and read a menu. But other than that the food was great, nothing spectacular.

AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! AVOID! COCKROACHES!!! Ordered 16 sandwiches for my office (last of several large orders for the staff), most of the office had already ate their sandwiches when one of my coworkers discovered the roach in his half eaten sandwich, needless to say we threw away the remaining sandwiches. I called and asked to speak to a manager to get our money back, and that's where the fiasco with this restaurant began. Not only did we find a cockroach in the food but the management was rude and called me a liar, even though I have photographic evidence of the cockroach in the cheese steak sandwich. A simple "sorry here's your money back" would have sufficed and no Yelp review would have been written, but Don was argumentative and rude. Do yourself a favor and avoid an illness by not eating here.

Awesome Meatball sandwich (make sure to try the Jumping Jalepeno Sauce) great fries... so why the 3 stars?? Poor POS service I asked for a 8" sandwich, he just looked at me, I asked again and he said we only have 6 or 12 , then I asked him to cut it in half and he gave me another sour look and said there are knives over there you can cut it yourself.... I just about left. Sandwich came out as a just over 4" .... just poor customer service, I am used to so much more from you!!! Great sandwich again worth putting up with a crappy cash register employee

The food was good the service was mediocre and the language I heard coming form the kitchen was the worst. I wish I had not given a tip on the receipt before I received my food. I will not be back. This was at the end of June. The reason I am writing today is because I went to the newer location in Lehi, UT today and thought it was going to be a better experience but the same fowl language coming from the kitchen. I am not so much of a prude but there were little kids in there and it just gives off a trashy uncomfortable impression. I will not be back unless someone else is paying. :) If you are in a hurry the meatball sandwich is the fastest in my opinion.

They do a very good cheesesteak sandwich. The fries are also good, but the onion rings are kind of flavorless and grease logged. It's busy, but the line goes quickly. I like having a "greasy spoon" option like this in my pocket. This restaurant goes into our rotation.

This place is so delicious. I really enjoy their philly and my husband enjoys their meatball subs. I love the sauce they have in the little containers and would really love the recipe. They are a bit pricey for their sandwiches, and the place can get super busy around lunch time, but I love it and it is worth the drive so far.

Definatley not as good as SLC location. Got the Philly and it just tasted like processed cheese. The grilled onions in it were around 3 inches long. My wife got their feta and tomato but the bread was stale. SLC mooches is defiantly much better

There's no wrong way to eat a Philly Cheese-steak from Moochie's! I'll admit I drove by this place multiple times before a coworker convinced me I had to try it. The building is unassuming, in a commercial part of Midvale, right on State Street - not a typical restaurant hot-spot. I'll also admit that the dining atmosphere is more like 2 or 3 stars, it's small, it's noisy and not particularly comfortable. The Philly Cheese-steak though... that's another story. OMG! The coworker that recommend Moochie's eats lots of fried food and frequents Chuck O' Rama, so I didn't have high expectations, but wow, just wow! Take my word for it, the Philly is amazing! I haven't tried a single other thing on the menu, but there's no need to. The Philly can be made just how you like it: peppers, mushrooms, onions, cheese - or none, it's your call. The icing on the sandwich so to speak, is the Jalapeno sauce. Don't be afraid of it, dive right in. Drench your sandwich in that shiz, because it's awesome in sauce form! Enough said, try Moochie's!

Supposedly, Moochies was way better than they are currently from what I heard, but since I have not had them before until recently, I have nothing to compare with. They are located at the convenience State St location. Parking in the front seems very limited, but they have more on the side and back. The décor is not much on the inside, and it was bit below most fast food restaurants. I had the Philly Cheesesteak from them a few times and they were always good. They have a grilled cheese, and it was ok. Other sandwiches were not very good though like the Sausage and Pepper I had the other night had cold sausages inside, not very appetizing for a hot sandwich. The Gyro was a just a mouthful of veggie. The Hot & Spicy Wings sandwich was a disaster with dried chicken with onions and lettuce, and not remotely close being spicy. Their meatballs had been very inconsistent. However, they do have decent side items. Fries is always a good choice, they have sweet potato ones as well. The jalapeno sauce although not spicy, made a very good dipping sauce. They have this interesting new side called Fried Ravioli had a nice flavor to it. Despite what other have said about them, I think they are still one of the better places to get Philly Cheesesteak in South Valley. I would just ditch the other sandwiches. The place was clean enough. This location opens until 10:30pm now, before was always a rush to leave after dinner there.

Best cheese steak in Utah. Close to the ones in Philly. The unique jalapeño sauce complemented very nicely. Great French roll and tender juicy rib eye makes the sandwich. Even has wizz for the crazy Philly transplants.

This place was packed!! People waiting for tables or just giving up and taking it to go. I had the meatball sandwich which Food Network star Guy Fieri recommends (according to the menu) It came out wrapped in brown paper and was hot and cheesy. The meatballs were well seasoned with a tangy marinara sauce on top. The sub came out with a bottle of jalapeno cream sauce to put on top of your sandwich. I highly recommend doing just that if you like spicy creamy goodness. The 6 inch sub was about twice as much as I needed, so it was well worth the money

Can't go wrong with this place. To me a Philly doesn't take much. Bread, meat, cheese, various veggies and some kind of sauce. This place does it right every time I go. The bread has a nice kinda hard outside to it and soft smooth chewy inside and to me the bread is one of the most important things of a great Philly cheese-steak. What makes these guys stand out is that they are always consistent, the food is always fresh and hot, the jalapeno mayo sauce makes it taste so incredible. The ribeye steak is always so juicy and tender, I don't do it real Philly style with cheese whiz which to me is so nasty. I like some good old provolone with tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. Can't say enough about this place. Highly recommend this place to anyone that loves a great sandwich that is always complimented with great bread and excellent meat.

You really can't go wrong with Moochie's. Their cheesesteak is one of the better that I've ever had. The bread is usually spot on, but the ends can be a little hard sometimes. The meat is fantastic and the cheese they put on it is great and just compliments the meat. I really like onions in my cheesesteak, but I'm not sure why I don't like them in Moochie's. It's either that they put too many in, they're the wrong type or they're raw. (The rawness has happened on more than one occasion.) Their fries are just middle of the road at best, but they're usually soggy and way over salted. It's really more of a place to get take out than it is a place to stay and eat too. Like others have said, the atmosphere is pretty divetastic, but there's no appeal to it. If you're looking for a great cheesesteak though, this is your best choice.

Cheesesteak was excellent! Some of the best fries I have ever had and the Jumpin' Jalapeño Sauce is fantastic. Great flavor, not too much heat. Loved it!

  • Leanne A.

The jumping jalapeno sauce is amazing!!! Eat it on everything: fries, sandwiches, meatballs and more. I really like their meatball subs. The meatballs are really delicious and I want to take a loaf of their bread home every time. I of course put a generous helping of jumping jalapeno sauce on this as well. Be careful though their sandwiches are messy and not for the faint of heart. The gyro sandwich is also really good, with lots of tasty meat. Their fries are really good, crunchy and salty. They are some of my favorite fries around. The place is a little divey, but it adds to the delicousness of the subs. We've tried their philly cheesestakes, which is what they are famous for, but they really weren't that great. Stick to the meatballs.

After hearing a lot about Moochie's I would say it lived up to the expectations. I had the Philly Cheese steak which is the best I've had outside of PA. Everything was great, except I don't prefer American cheese which is the cheese Moochie's uses. If they had provolone I would have liked it more. The fries were delicious, cooked to perfection. They have a unique fry sauce which is white and is a little more spicy than the traditional fry sauce. This location is older and kind of a ghetto location but there's lots of parking and the food and service were great!

SLC UT - When we first saw the sign that this location was going up we cheered with joy. I pass it a few times EVERY SINGLE DAY. I taught my nieces to chant "Moochies Moochies Moochies" when we drove by during construction. Unfortunately when we first went it something was off. My mom and sister also had some bad experiences so we took a break. BUT, thankfully we gave it another try because this time it was just delicious as the downtown counter part phew! My rating is solely based on the philly cheese steak. I have ordered other sandwiches and they ranged from "okay but I would not order them again" to "I really regret not ordering the philly cheese steak". Make sure to get the jumping jalapeno sauce it adds just the right amount of specialness. If you want something a little extra we like the fried ravioli quite a bit although I hope to try the garlic cheese bread sometime :)

  • Frank M.

Moochie's is a local favorite. I've only been to their original location downtown. This was my first visit to the State Street location. New location, same great food. This is not going to be the healthiest choice for lunch. But sometimes the body and heart need a pile of cheese, onions and shredded steak and mushrooms on a baguette. Sometimes you need to dip a perfectly fried French fry into a gallon of fry sauce. Sometimes grease needs to drip down your chin and onto your button up as you loosen your belt. It's OK to indulge every once in a while. Not all great food has to come on white platters with cloth napkins. Sometimes it's served to you in a Styrofoam clamshell container by a pimply faced highschool girl in a dirty apron and spotted t shirt. It's time to go back to work. You've had your fun for the day.

The food looks good but we never got a chance to try anything due to horrendous customer service. Apparently they close at 8:30 (despite 10 pm time listed on their website) and if you arrive at 8 you are not invited to sit down and eat. We were told we MUST use take out and would be asked to leave when 8:30 rolls around. I then asked if they would wrap the two halves of my sandwich separately. The answer was an adamant "NO, we are not allowed to do that". Needless to say I did not order and I walked out with my family. Apparently they didn't need my $100. I do not plan to return.

It's a good think you guys are located on 7725 S and not closer to 10600 where I work! When I get the urge to have Moochie's the only thing that stops me sometimes is how close I am to the nearest location! In my limited Moochie's history I have tried both the Cheesesteak and the Meatball sandwiches. Is there anything else on the menu? It doesn't matter! I absolutely love and adore each of these sandwiches! Give me a bottle of the jalapeno sauce and it is my version of heaven on earth. Moochie's you are one of the few meals where I welcome the mushrooms on the food. You have figured out a way to make those icky things acceptable to this guy. I have visited this location probably five times in the last year and the quality is a constant. Is there anything better than a consistently great meal? I love when you can expect excellence and you aren't let down. See you soon! Maybe even before the end of the week. Just thinking about the taste is making my mouth water.

Let's just say you decide to go here to compare vs. the one on 800 S. Doing so will give you a good measure of the difference between very good (here) and great (there), as well as illustrating quite well the difference between a fairly new grill (here) and a very well-seasoned one (there). Still, this is still a Moochie's cheesesteak, so it's going to be solid until you put the jalapeno white sauce on it, which will elevate it markedly. Fries looked better at this location, though and they have a variety of other stuff on the menu, which also looked pretty good, though it will never matter to me unless they run out of cheesesteak. Execution was also a bit spotty on the actual cooking of the components, particularly the mushrooms, but not enough to be an actual deterrent, of course. This building is more of an actual restaurant and the space is somewhat better, but this is still probably a good 2 - 3 years away, or so, of ascending to the lofty heights of the original location. One of the best bets in that area, though, unquestionably.

Good chicken parm sandwich. Good portion. The tomato sauce tases canned though but I would order it again. I want to try the Philly cheese steak next time.

Version 2.0 of Moochie's is way better than the original. the food quality is just as good but you cut out the obscenely long wait and crowds are times compared to the original. Prices were the same as the original location. 2 stars for food quality, great phillys and meatball subs 2 stars for service, definitely a friendly restaurant, great service!

Really excited to go to moochies after seeing it on DDD. Must say I was not overly impressed. The philly steak sandwich was meh!! Not bad but I would go for the meatball next time.

  • Ahmad K.

Gone here a few times and it's always great. Their sauce that you put on the sandwiches is always, amazing. I could seriously take a shower in it I mainly went here because it was so close to my house and it seems a little divey, but its good food for a decent price. I paid about $10 for a footlong and it was so. Final conclusion - I'll go back when I'm in the mood for a cheesesteak

  • Daniel B.

Moochies has, hands down, the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I have ever had in my life. The bread is wonderful, the meat is tender and juicy. Throw on some sautéed onions and peppers as an extra and it is even better. Their meatball sandwich is amazing as is their pizza sandwich. It is a dangerously delicious problem to have this place so close to where I work. Mmmm, Mmmm!

    (5)
  • Manda P.

I probably eat here more than I should. Like other reviewers have said, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich is amazing. My understanding is that they bake the bread themselves, which is a major selling point for me. I've never tried their meatball sub, but I've only heard great things. Pro tip: the jalapeño sauce is AMAZING on the philly.

  • Brad S.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Moochies is the place for what I believe is the best most authentic cheesesteak around. I just tried their meatball sandwich and it was fantastic. My wife and I were surprised at how much our kids liked it on their first visit there (they don't like to eat at new places). You can't go wrong (unless you try to make a cheesesteak at home using items from the grocery store - yes I've been there and done that and it just doesn't cut it) with a Philly or Meatball sandwich or their awesome onion rings or their garlic cheesebread or their great fry sauce or probably anything else on their menu. I can't wait until they open their store in Lehi.

I had heard great reviews about Moochies for several months before I had the opportunity to try it myself. Their menu is somewhat limited to a few pasta dishes, and a number of sandwiches. The only bread the sandwiches come on is a hoagie roll, which I was disappointed with. Always a fan of a good Rueben--when I can find a good one in my area--I tried this offering, along with their battered fries. The roll is usually grilled, so I ordered my sandwich cold. The bread was too hard, and too much. Essentially, the roll overwhelmed the ingredients of the sandwich. The corned beef was good, and was flavored nicely. However, the Rueben sauce they used was too heavily applied, and also overwhelmed the other ingredients. In all, the Moochie's Rueben was just OK. The battered fries I received were old and hard, so eating them was not what I was hoping for from everything I had heard. In all, the meal fell short of what I had been told, and was a bit overpriced, as well. More than likely I'll eat there again; if only to try other offerings. Another big annoyance was one of the entry doors to the restaurant. The hydraulics on the door was completely shot, and anytime a customer came in or left through that particular door, it slammed shut...very startling! Additionally, the flow patterns of this unit were poor, and tables near the front were crammed up against the customers waiting to order. Personally, I don't like having other peoples butts right next to me while I eat. Would I recommend Moochies? I don't know. I'll have to try it again before I decide that one.

I came in here and ordered up the meatball, Philly cheesesteak, fries & fried ravioli. The meatball was good and better than most places but not near on the level of what I make. The French fries were fantastic! Better fries than most places in the nation easy. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was what I was most skeptical of at the moment of placing the order. I specifically asked the lady what cut of beef is used and she replied with the answer I was looking for but didn't seen to sure. Of course we know it should be ribeye and best when sliced on site but she said she only thought they did. Either way the cheesesteak outperformed the meatball. This place should really focus more on the cheesesteak as it's flagship sandwich. The fried ravioli was a very nice addition and am glad I had it. The jalapeño fry sauce stole the whole show however as it went well on everything except I did not try it with the ravioli. Great food all of it,.. Definitely worth hitting up as much as possible!

My wife and I had lunch here with my Dad during a visit to the area.. My wife had a hankering for a cheese steak so we picked Moochie's which my Dad was a good place. She had a cheese steak and I had the pastrami sandwich. My wife loved her sandwich, a 6 inch was enough for a lunch meal for her. My pastrami sandwich wasn't quite as big but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I don't know where they get their pastrami was it was very tasty, it had a real kick that I enjoyed. I would definitely go back and if I lived in the area I'd probably eat here far more than is healthy. The price wasn't bad, $7-8 bucks per person we got a 6 inch and a drink for each of us. That's pretty reasonable here in the Detroit area but I'm not sure how it compares in Midvale.

  • Tatiana G.

I love coming to this restaurant. It is a little dirty, always crowded, and always delicious. I like to get the cheese chicken sandwich with grilled peppers. It's always very flavorful and they have a jalapeno mayo type sauce that is so so good on the sandwiches. They also have really good fries, and a home made fry sauce that is also really good. I come here a lot and I've never been disappointed.

  • Jeffrey S.

As a fan of the original location (one of many fans, obviously), I was elated to find out that Moochie's was going to open a second location in Midvale. I'm a Midvale man myself, so I knew that having one this close would be dangerous. But good. But dangerous. Fast forward waaaay too many months (pretty sure that the State Street construction held them up from moving in sooner), and they're open and slinging sandwiches. I've seen mad lines here, and wanted to let them disperse and for the new-place bugs to get worked out before I went in. Cue yesterday afternoon, and I'm there. There's still a lot of work to be done inside--but it's mostly superficial. Painting, etc. It's come leaps and bounds since the days of being La Palapa, but hopefully they round the bend and get the place sparkling. Not too sparkling--certainly part of the charm of a place like Moochie's is that it's local. Not all schmancy. And definitely full of character. But it does still feel a little incomplete. That's mostly inconsequential, however, when it comes to the main attraction: sandwiches. These are not health food sandwiches. They make a mean meatball and a seriously scintillating steak sammie. The bread, the sauce, the extra toppings (usually available for .50 more each) mean you can load up a 6" or 12" one-of-a-kinder and sink your teeth into greatness. I ordered 4 sandwiches, and while it was quiet at that time of day (4:30 or so) they were made and I was ready to go in around 5 minutes. I suspect that's not always the case, but kudos for being snappy. Go with the cheesesteak. Get the whiz. Make sure you get some jalapeno sauce, and plenty of napkins. It ain't gourmet but it's gooood. Welcome to Midvale!

  • William S.

Possibly the best place near Sandy... But Sandy is a sea of disappointments when it comes to restaurants. Good sandwiches, good bread, but the jalapeño sauce isn't a good match for the sammies. A cheesesteak has to have ketchup to be a cheesesteak. The meatball sub is the best menu item hands down. Consider not getting peppers on your cheese steak because they go light on the meat and heavy on overcooked peppers. The overcooked peppers are a given everytime. The color is gone. Worth a visiting regularly, for sure. Fair prices.

  • Nicole C.

I have eaten at both locations many times. The cheesesteak with provolone is my favorite (and I am from 15 minutes outside of Philly). I have not found any other cheesesteaks in SLC that match those back home. Meatball sandwich is also good. I like the chicken and eggplant parm, but they always lack sauce and are too dry. The sausage and peppers are pretty good also. And the zappy potato salad is tasty. Plus, they sell TastyKakes of various flavors...i grew up with these being a treat in my lunchbox. Yum!

You can never go wrong with a good phillychesestske sandwich. This place hits it out of the ballpark with ease. Every time it's like a new experience with the same sandwich it's that good.

I like moochies. They seem to be very popular here in the Salt Lake area. They were also featured in Food network's triple D with Guy Fieri. All the hype is in place and expectations are high. But their steak for me needs seasoning. I thought it was kinda bland. Cheese is cheese and the roll was a bit tough to chew. For me I enjoy their sandwich a lot more when i bring my own worcestershire sauce, just because i want more flavor. I give them 3.5 stars (good not great) The jalapeno sauce was great. Disappointed that they charge extra for mushrooms and peppers. One of the best cheesesteaks I've had, surprisingly enough is at the Cheesecake Factory. Better quality of steak and packs a punch of flavor.

There is a reason this place was on DDD. It's delicious. The meatball sub is huge. Love the good here.

    (5)
  • Robin A.

Good philly steak, could use a little more meat though, but I do enjoy the bread it comes on, I'm not a huge fan of the jalapeño spread, mayo is just fine for me. I enjoy the fries but the fry sauce is not what I'm accustomed to being from utah and all. Probably my favorite thing here is the Birch rootbeer on tap.

    (3)
  • James H.

My lunch friend traded me 1/2 a meatball sub for 1/2 a philly cheesesteak and I still can't pick a favorite. Both were equally delicious. I skipped their fries but did get a small order of their Zappy's potato salad. The potato salad was fine but I'd probably not get it again. A fun spot with a good pepper bar if you like that sort of thing. And even though we went on a Friday during lunch hour, service was fast and efficient.

    (4)
  • Anne Marie S.

Not quite sure of what the "hype" is. My friend got the philly and I ordered the grilled cheese. I thought it was good. A quick bite to eat and they were pretty fast. Got their bread pudding - MEH! Not bad but I'm not knocking down doors to get here either. If you go during peak lunch time, get their early cause seats get taken quickly. We had gotten their early enough so it wasn't an issue for us.

  • Kade P.

Best cheese steaks in the city. Onions are free, mushrooms and bell peppers more to add. They have a huge pepper bar for free though. Fantastic meatball sandwiches if that's your thing. Their fries are awesome, done like a traditional 'frite' - twice fried at different temperatures so they're crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Amazing fried ravioli too - served with marinara. Their sauces make the place, with the Jalapeño sauce delicious on everything. The fry sauce is great too, mixed with a bit of the jalapeño sauce so as to add a nice kick. There is another location in Downtown Salt Lake City, about 800 South and 250 east. One of my fav places in all of Salt Lake.

  • Dustin T.

Delicious, authentic Philly Cheesesteaks. Recently, I took the opportunity to eat at two locations in Philly. Moochies may not be a true Philly just as Champagne only comes from a region in France, but their cheesesteaks use the best combination of ribeye steak, American whiz, grilled onions, and bread. Definitely try to creamy jalapeño sauce on your steak.

    (5)
  • Nathan M.

We came here and got 2 of their meatball subs - my wife got the spicy one. The meatballs themselves are something like 1/3 lb each and taste awesome. They supposedly do a great philly cheesesteak but I don't really do those so I can't comment. :) The sandwiches were a little soggy for my taste and the restaurant was pretty blinding around sunset, only 2 complaints. The employees were extremely helpful and friendly, I give them 5 stars.

I've heard lots of praise for Moochie's so we finally managed to stop by for a meal. I'll get right to the bottom line: it certainly wasn't horrible, but we didn't think it was any better than DP Cheesesteaks. There is more variety on the menu here compared to DP, though Moochie's prices do seem to be a little higher as well. There was a decent-sized crowd here, so people do seem to like the place. In summary, I think Moochie's deserves a 3-star rating. There is good variety and the service was pretty quick. It's a decent place for a sandwich, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

As a fan of the original Moochie's I was happy to see them open a second location closer to my work. We've eaten here a few times now and the food has always been very good. Very tasty cheesesteaks. This location is easy to find, has lots of parking, and ample indoor and outdoor seating. My favorite cheesesteaks are still DP Cheesesteaks, but Moochie's is also good.

The sandwich was ok (downtown is a lot better) Very trashy staff friendly but they look dirty and one guy scratched his beard before putting a sandwich together.. The cashier had a flu she can't stop coughing on top of everything...no coming back... Lunch for 2 was $30 (2 12" sandwich and 2 fries and 1 soda)

I came here with some co-workers for lunch about a year ago and I've been coming back ever since. One of the best subs and meatball sandwich in town. Lunch during the weekdays gets busy and the parking lot is packed. Price is reasonable and portions are decent. But yes, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Sooooo soooo good! You do pay a bit more but no one does a cheesesteak or meatball sandwich like they do. Unlike another review I read I like the upfront staff and don't mind the direct approach.

  • Lisa M.

Love at first bite. I always get the half sandwhich chicken philly with no peppers (long story) and grilled onions. I have yet to have a bad sandwich but there have been one or two times i wished there was more cheese. Can you ever have enough cheese though? Usually i go to the original down town-ish but if i'm on this side of town i'll take what i can get.

Busy place. Seating a bit crowded. Well worth it for the cheesesteak and meatball sandwiches.

I've been here several times because it's convenient - right by my work. I've never been impressed, yet I keep giving them a chance to redeem themselves because so many people rave about Moochies! First of all, the employees seem to hate their jobs most of the time and have crummy attitudes. It's like pulling teeth to get decent service there. Second, the sandwiches are overrated. Pretty skimpy AND they charge out the wazoo for extra ANYTHING! I've tried the meatball sub, philly, gyro, and buffalo chicken. They were all pretty disappointing, but if I had to choose one, I'd probably go with the gyro sandwich again. The macaroni salad is nothing to write home about, nor is the potato salad. The Mediterranean salad is pretty good, I'll give 'em that. They don't skimp on the feta (shocking, right?!) Also, I didn't hate the brownie, but I was just craving chocolate so don't take my word for that one. So all in all, I'm not impressed whatsoever. Unfortunately, I'll probably end up going back eventually because they're just walking distance from my work. I'd probably be better off going to B&D or the Thai restaurant in the same area.

I wasn't a huge fan. I tried their meatball sub and cheesesteak covered in cheese. The cheese on the cheesesteak was super-plain and reminded me of something you'd get at a gas station. I really wanted to like this place because I'd heard lots of good things about it, but it wasn't for me.

Soooo good! probably the closet thing to having a real Philly cheesesteak in utah! and I know because I was born and raised in south philly.

I've tried out their downtown location and I was really excited about their new location in Midvale. I was hoping it would be a little bit cleaner but it still need improvements. I am pretty sure its an enough of a profitable business to afford cleaner seats. But, the food is always amazing when I go there. The only negative I would have for my hot wing chicken sandwich would be that they would add a little bit more filling to the sandwich as I was getting the bread taste a lot. Overall, the sauce was good, chicken was done right and their add on sauce was amazing. Really wish they didn't open so close to me, will be coming here again real soon.

Love the Philly! Don't be afraid of the spicy (jalapeño?) sauce. It is amazing! So happy they moved to this end of the valley.

  • Kish M.

My first visit did not go well when they opened the Midvale store, it just did not measure up to the downtown location so when I needed a Philly fix I just drove past the Midvale location to the downtown location. Well, I finally decided to give it a second chance and it thrills me to say that the owners did what they had to do, I am happy to say when I need a Philly I don't have to drive downtown, I can just walk down the street!!!! Just a thought, the Midvale location still did not "feel right", they were arguing in the kitchen and it did not have the same back east, authentic feel as the downtown location but the food was spot on!!!!! They can argue in the kitchen all they want, just keep knocking out those awesome Philly Steak Sandwiches and I will be back!!

These fries. I know everyone has their preferred type of french fry, and THESE ARE MINE. I will never love another french fry more than I love Moochie's. They are of thickness medium-thin, perfectly crispy on the outside, and hot and smooth on the inside. Perfectly salted and run out way too quickly. They have special fry sauce, but it's completely optional for such a glorious fry. Obviously their sandwiches are bomb as well. I personally like the steak ones more than the meatball ones. This place is no secret, so don't expect to be able to sit down at peak hours unless you get lucky.

I've been to this location once and the downtown location twice. Previous times I got the meatball sandwich and this time I got the Philly cheesestake sandwich. Overall, I like the place but one big side effect tis the sleepy factor after eating the food. The meat is always juicy and the cheese is oozing. I would recommend the meatball sandwich with peppers from the pepper bar. You can get a half or full sandwich. Generally, I would think the half is plenty for most people especially if you get a combo with fries, macaroni salad, and/or macaroni and cheese. They serve coke products. This current restaurant is still very much a work in progress with plywood in the lobby. Therefore, I would not take a first date here now or probably ever. They have nice outdoor seating and plenty of parking in a private lot. I would recommend that you try Moochie's because I know a lot of people that love their sandwiches while I think they are just okay. FYI: They are closed Sundays.

Went there for an early dinner with my special lady friend. We shared a meatball sandie, the original cheesesteak and the potato salad. It was awesome. Quality stuff inside of chewy bread - all the flavors showed up. The jalapeño sauce is obligatory. Don't trust poor (pretentious) reviews. This place rules. I'd ask to have my ashes sprinkled there after I die - but that's not food safe.

This place is the bomb.com !! I would eat here every day if I could.. Portions are huge and the flavor is as close to Philly as you are going to get it Utah.. I'll be back sooner than later.. Can't get enough.

Great sandwiches, great service, good prices for the sandwiches, best to take out. Had the Italian sausage foot long, for two of us. Fries were good too.

Taste o' home, regardless of which side of the "Pat's" vs. "Geno's" debate you fall. Love the steak or the meatball or a hoagie. Jersey girl can always find something on the menu. But we poor beleaguered outcasts in the West need a bigger selection of Tastycakes.

  • Amir N.

There are meatball subs and there are meatball subs. Moochie's is the latter. Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Always remember to get the large one so you have leftovers for later.

  • Kevin W.

The Rubins are extraordinarily good. The corn beef is cooked right there at the sandwich shop unlike some places where the corn beef is cooked and then shipped into the sandwich shop. Their Philly cheesesteak is exceptionally good too.

Great food if you are stuck in the purgatory known as Salt Lake waiting for a car repair. Homie had the eggplant parm sandwich and said it was awesome. I had the grilled veggie and thought it was okay. They have really good bread here. The onion rings are pretty awesome as well. I wasn't digging the jalapeno sauce, however, I thought it just tasted like ranch dressing. This spot seems to be always busy and the staff is nice. If you open one outside of Utah I am in.

Delicious cheesesteak, close to home. Thank you Moochies!

I love mooches! This place is so great! Best philly in the world. They are quick, girlfriend and I always just get one and split it. Can't forget how amazing the jalapeño sauce is!

    (5)
  • Daniel K.

Not great. Meatball sub and cheesesteak are both overrated. Jalepeño sauce was good, but doesn't sufficiently redeem low quality food. I won't be returning. The search for a good cheesesteak in SLC continues...

    (2)
  • Susan L.

I can never get tired of moochies haha. I love their fries and the sauce they make. It's really good and goes well with everything. My favorite of course is their signature, Philly Cheese steak Sandwich. I just don't like how they charge you for the extra stuff you want, but in the end it's kind of worth it.

  • Ryan B.

A restaurant is supposed to be an experience, and both times I have visited here, you are treated like cattle. They are simply order takers here, no customer or environment engagement at all. They never say hi to you here (just so you know I always say hello to the first employee I interact with which is the cashier normally, and on two different occasions with a different cashier each time, no acknowledgement and they just want you to be done with), and avoid eye contact when ordering, the food is okay, but nothing to the quality of the original Moochies on State Street in SLC. Avoid this Moochies, management and overall team morale is poor. I'm a frequent customer at the original, this Midvale location is very disappointing. It seems like everyone working there hates their job and life itself. Close this one already, it is just hurting your reputation Moochies.

  • Mark O.

Moochies is an above average Philly cheesesteak outfit in Utah. Good sandwiches, fast service and one of the few restaurants that have red cream soda on the fountain. I will definitely go bag.

    (4)
  • Robert B.

Service isn't the best. Everyone that's working doesn't act like they want to be there or had a break all day. At least the 4 times I've been there. The deep fried ravioli are delicious. Philly steaks are worth trying, but they taste better with the jalapeño sauce. If you don't care about lousy service and need a hearty sandwich. This is the place.

Came here for lunch with my brother and ordered the 'authentic' 12" cheese steak and chose double fries for my (2) side dishes. Have to say this is either the best cheese and onion sandwich or the most disgusting cheese steak sandwich I ever had. There was not much meat, but a lot of onion and cheese. Did not order it with green peppers or mushrooms (because they charge extra for this), but don't think would've helped it in any way. The fries were typical frozen fries one could find at the grocer. I was so disappointed that we went to DPs in South Jordan. In the end I had a total of 20" of sandwich, 12" of it was chalk full of onions and cheese and the remaining 8" was satisfying. I don't understand the hype, It's overpriced and extremely bland food; will never come here again.

  • Jason C.

Like so many restaurants that gain popularity by having a great product they have expanded. However their sandwiches have not. Now there is decidedly less rib eye inside that fantastic bread. Which beckons the age old question: "Where's the Beef?".

  • Tanya L.

I've been to the downtown location a few times and had an ok experience. It was always good but not outstanding. Last night we decided to give this new location a shot. It's right around the corner from my house so I was hoping for a restaurant that I'd like enough to become a regular. Unfortunately that didn't happen. First off I'm not sure if they had time to finish the inside of the restaurant, it feels and looks half completed and grimy. Not that there was noticeable dirt or filth but it wasn't the pristine cleanliness you'd expect from a brand new place. Add to that that they're still using toilet bowl plungers to rope off the line and its not a place I'd want to stay and eat. We got our food to go. JeremyF and I both got the cheese steaks and i got my mom and dad the sausage and peppers. We also got fries, onion rings and some Mac and cheese. The onion rings were delicious. Giant, battered and fried. The fries were fine nothing exceptional and not fresh cut. The first problem we had was with the sausage and peppers sandwich. There was no sausage. My parents cut the 12" sandwich in to three sections. My mom said she got ONE bite of meat in her portion but my dad had NO MEAT in either of the other two sections. The cheese steaks were good. I especially like the bread they use, a nice crust with a soft inside. The meat was good not tough or grizzly. But again there was nothing special or epic about it. However about an hour after finishing the meal JeremyF and I both passed out. It was a MSG coma of epic proportions. That's a major turn off for me, a restaurant like Moochies should be able to make delicious flavorful food without resorting to MSG. I'm not sure we'll be returning.

No better cheese steak in town! get there before the lunch rush! either way its worth the wait. I like the philly with wiz pepper s and shrooms!

Ok, so I know that people commented that when it first opened it wasn't as good as the one downtown, but we stopped by last night, and I have to say that they have figured it out. Our sandwiches were as good as the ones that you get at the downtown location. Plenty of meat and cooked to perfection! So glad to have one closer to home, with an actual parking lot. They only thing that I can see people complaining about would be the price since a 12" sandwich is $9.99 and $1.00 extra for mushrooms, peppers or additional cheese. So if you build up an amazing sandwich it can get up there, but trust me you are buying quality. It's well worth it, plus they make it fresh when you order. We will be back!

  • Dallas T.

My wife and I got their signature dishes. I got the Philly Cheesesteak and my wife got the meatball sandwich. I got to try both. The meatball sandwich was incredible. They hand-make their meatballs and you can tell. Cheesteak was very good, but nothing to rave about. Excellent choice of condiments, and their fries are the best fries I've had in a long time. Add that with a jalapeno frysauce and you've got a really good meal.

Lot of hype lately about this place and they've stepped up their advertising, so I'd thought I'd give it a try. Now I know Food Network filmed at the downtown location and Guy Fieri gave his thumbs up on the Meatball sub, but I fancy myself a Philly Cheesesteak connoisseur- and that's what they seemed to be stressing was their specialty. Service A+ It may be because of the grand opening, but the service was fantastic and fast. Food: A- I put the minus because it's not my top Philly in Utah, but it is in the top 3. Price: B A bit expensive for my taste. A Philly should come with mushrooms and not cost extra. I paid just under $9 for a 6" and a drink. Notes: The Jalepeño Sauce was a bit too watered down for my taste, thus losing a "fresh" feeling. Although, I'll come back just for the Jackson Hole Sarsaparilla. The location is a bit tricky and parking will be hard to find if the place is super busy. Would I come here again? Absolutely. Overall: A-

I defy anyone to lead me to a better hot dog than the Moochie Dog. This colossal tube of meat, with it's inventive and flavorful toppings, nestled as it is in Moochie's incredible sub roll, is absolutely the best hot dog I have ever stuffed in my face. It's not on the menu. Ask for it by name.

We had someone tell us about this place. We started with the downtown location until they opened the Midvale one closer to our house. I owe a life debt to this person because this place is insanely good. Nothing fancy but food done right every time. It's so good you literally want to go slap your momma. I usually get the authentic philly and my wife the italian sausage and they are so yummy. I honestly can't wait till my next stop in.

This was the worse Phily Stake that I have ever had, next to Subway. I drove by and thought, hey that looks like a good place and WOW they are saying authentic Philly Stake. First of all, it is ONLY served with American cheese, REALLY!? So I had to order Swiss, which was extra, I ordered mushrooms and grilled peppers, which was extra. When I got my sandwich, I think they thought I wanted mushrooms and peppers only, as there was hardly, if any meat on it and what was there looked like hamburger. So the 6" sandwich cost me $10. I hate half and threw the rest away. I would never eat there again. I was so disappointed, because I had high expectation when I walked in. YUCK!

Yesterday for our Pioneer Day dinner we decided to go pickup Moochie's for our picnic. I called ahead and ordered 4- large Philly Cheesesteaks to go. We love Moochie's! This is the 1st time at the new location! LOVE having it closer to our home in West Jordan! These are the best sandwiches but I do have to admit I was a bit disappointed this time! The meat was skimpy on all of our sandwiches! This has NEVER been the case when we've been to the original Moochie's and we were all so sad, usually they really load them up! I don't mind paying $9.99 for a Moochie's Philly if it is done right but these ones were a huge let down! Sad Pioneer Day picnic!

They have gotten stingy at this location! I got a to-go order of a 12" Philly cheese stake and asked for lots of their jalapeño sauce. The employee working said they allowed one jalapeño sauce per 6", so he could only give me 2. What I thought was strange about this, is that if you eat there, you can have an entire bottle of jalapeño sauce! It's unlimited as far as the eye can see. But for to-go orders it was not allowed. Poor customer service. It's a shame because this location is much closer to my home and work, but the downtown location is much better.

  • Roman P.

What can I say? I love moochie's but I have only one problem.. Why does the sandwich never comes out exactly the same?! One time it tastes great and the other time not so much... And I'm talking about the cheesestake sandwich.

So far I have had the pizza sub (a little messy) and the Gyro with Feta. Both are excellent choices. Best part, the bread is fresh and this place doesn't have all the chemicals in their sandwiches like other "retail" competitor's.

    (5)
  • Mike G.

I got what I expected. I believe the SLC location was on DDD but we came across this location and decided to try it out. The food was very good. We got the meatball sub and phillycheese sub. Both very messy but very good. They use great bread that holds up to the mess. All in all, very good joint for a quick meal. Expect a small line during lunch time.

My wife and I went to Moochies on a Thursday night at about 7 pm. The place was mostly empty. We both ordered steak sandwiches and fries which were good. The problem with this place was that it was filthy dirty. Only two tables were taken, the remaining were dirty spread with crumbs and trash. The floor had dirt ground in and was also spread with crumbs and garbage. The condiments were spread around to various tables and were also filthy. Luckily there was a sink in the dining room so we got a bunch of wet napkins and cleaned a table. There were seven workers standing behind the counter doing nothing, you would think they would take a minute and clean. I'm glad I didn't see the kitchen! It's hard to enjoy a meal while eating in these unsanitary conditions. Talk about loosing your appetite. This place should be shut down by the health department.

  • Matthew H.

Moochies vs. DP? Really? No contest. First of all, get your philly with whiz. Take full advantage of the jumpin jalapeño sauce. And get ready to live. Moochies bread is amazing. I honestly never liked Philly cheesesteaks until I tried the original Moochies. Now I HAVE to eat a few a month or withdrawals kick in. Ignore the hype. Ignore the competition. Just let your mouth decide. You'll never doubt Moochies again.

  • Desert F.

I had the 12" philly and it was good. The sandwich could feed two if you are willing to share. I enjoyed the bread and the meat was tender. Although I have tasted a better Philly sandwich I would recommend this Philly. This is a great substitution for eating a burger. Overall, you really cannot go wrong with this Philly.

Not great you can get a better philly cheese steak for less money other places ...side salad was wilted and fries usual frozen stuff that's been over fried ...the birch beer tastes just like root beer ..most of the people eating where of a greatest generation who must like blander food ....first time is the last time for me ....a meal that I will probably regret for the next few hours blechh

Big sandwiches, very messy ones too. It was good, nothing out of this world. I had their pizza sandwich which I guess is similar to a pizza because it has red sauce :-) I'd definitely eat here again but there is definitely room for improvement.

I had a huge pizza cheesesteak sandwich today. Jalapeño sauce on top and some my favorite version of fry sauce in Utah. It's my go to sandwich when it's cold and snowy. The service was fast and friendly.

Hello! i haven't yelped in a while, but this one is important to me so get ready for a long one. it's mixed. moochie's is in the middle of a soft opening which means i should give them a break on some things that are totally understandable when getting a new place up and running. i just want to say how incredibly appreciative i am that Moochie's took a chance on this part of town. it's exactly the type of business we need if we're ever going to see it as a formidable destination for the general public. so many little gems along this stretch of state st., but you'd probably drive right on past because of the way it all looks. old, a little run down, and downright depressing! ex: Pho33 is a great place to eat, but it sure isn't pretty. in any case, i'm really impressed at their willingness to help out this community. they spiffed it up and are in the process of really making it a cute spot. even just cleaning the parking lot made a huge difference. i live not even one mile from the place. bought the house during the boom, saw so many positive changes in motion, and then BAM! just like everything else...right at the corner of 7800S. and state. 2 streets sorely needing some love and money. SO.. thank you. and i give this review in hopes that things will get better and you'll stay for a long, long time.. ambiance: still in progress. super wobbly table. air vents blowing furiously over the table. ZERO HIGH CHAIRS. this is the one i cannot whine about more. it was THE MOST stressful meal trying to eat and wrangle our 20 month old. not even a booster seat in sight. this is just the reality of things. families want to go out to eat, too..but we don't travel with high chairs. if you are working on getting some..GREAT. if you're not planning on it, i URGE you to invest in a couple of these. your patrons should be able to come in, strap those suckers in, and enjoy the meal. service: it's new. everyone is in training. i will not judge here. good luck to you all! value: um..not really a value. sorry. my only experience with a cheesesteak is from BackEast (RIP). it was quite memorable-in a good way. i'm not sure if traditionally they come with peppers/onions/cheese, but if they do, don't charge extra for that! moochie's serves their cheesesteaks with meat, onions, provolone (i think), extra for peppers. extra for damn near everything. these sandwiches can get seriously pricey. if you want a different cheese, you get charged .50 extra. this seems a little insane to me. yea, it's just .50 but last time i checked provolone was a higher price cheese than cheeze whiz. am i just being charged for "inconvenience"? give me the cheese i want and don't penalize for it. thank you. food: husband got a regular cheesesteak and fries. his verdict: "it's good". he didn't seem blown away, but pleased none the less. i, on the other hand, and a feistier customer and expected more. i got a chicken cheesesteak (i'm sure this is sacrilege). however, the one i had a back east was so incredibly tasty so i expected better. i also got a side of onion rings (for 3.50). i subbed the cheeze whiz. the bread was fantastic. really nice, crusty, soft bread. the chicken meat was breast, which is good. however, it had ZERO seasoning. nothing! and it was a little dry. also, my first 2 bites were into a huge chunk of fatty skin. i nearly hurled, but carried on and luckily that didn't happen again! the cheeze was good, and there were a couple onions. not much at all. my sandwich totally lacked flavor. i ran to the fry sauce, jalapeno sauce, and banana peppers for help. (the peppers were free which was nice). i could barely tell the difference between the fry sauce and jalapeno sauce and neither had much flavor going on. the jalapeno had a tiny bit more kick, but really i couldn't figure out the major difference here at all. not really impressed with either of them. the onion rings were a tiny bag of nearly burnt, incredibly greasy rings. i gave them away..nowhere near worth the price. the fries were good. so...that was my experience at moochie's midvale. they're grand opening is in 2 days and i'm hoping the kinks get worked out soon. even though my food review is a little rough, it's only because i want them to stay! because we really are happy you're here!!!!

Their Authentic Philly Cheesesteak was good, I'd order it again. Nothing special about the fries, both sweet potato and regular, but I like that they had sweet potato fries which were "lighter". I'd still order them if I felt like having a side with my sandwich. The onion rings were pricey to me, but they weren't soggy nor greasy, so that was a plus. I like that they have refillable drinks with 12 choices, but I definitely did not like the birch root beer (like someone had mentioned) or the red cream soda. Those both are an acquired taste. I'd return if I felt like having a cheesesteak and don't want to drive far. Pototo salad (per my Mr.) was gross. Too pickley.

SO GOOD! After a tough workday, we went for dinner! We had the most fun cashier! She made our day! She was kind, efficient, and fun! The food was incredible, it was exactly what we needed, hot, cheesy, fresh, and delicious! The patio out back was so pleasant. We will be coming back a lot! Moochie's is a staple!

So yes this place is all about the cheesesteak. They have a good Reubens too if you want to try something different. The Potatoe salad is a kick in the mouth but somehow I want more.

Good stuff. One of my favorite places to eat in SLC. Philly Cheesesteak is awesome. Potato salad is really good. Had to sit outside because it was too busy.

We went and got there Philly, it tasted great, but the portion size was not worth the money. We got our sandwiches and looked at it thinking where's the meat? When you pay $12 for a foot long you expect to get a good amount of food, not here. On the bright side it was fast and friendly service. Just wish they would give you your money's worth.

  • Lena M.

My husband and I are so glad that this place is close by. We've never been to the downtown location but we'd heard the rumors. We took the plunge about 2 weeks ago and then again a week later. Both visits were great, he orders the meatball sandwich and I order the Philly cheesesteak. We both swear that our sandwich is the best. I love the meat and the melty gooey cheese. The bread is soft, but still holds the sandwich together. He can't stop putting that special jalapeno sauce all over his sandwich. Either way you go, seems like a win to me! If there is a downside, the lines can get long and some say it's pricey, especially if you want to add extras to your sandwich.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
