Overrated and Overpriced. The food started out bad and went downhill from there. The miso soup tasted like it came out of a can. The shrimp dish was served on a bed of raw cabbage, and onions and contained exactly 15 medium/small shrimp for $15. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. It was underseasoned and I had to borrow salt, pepper and soy sauce from a nearby table because our table didn't have any and the waitress was no where to be found. The diet Coke tasted like a watered-down, off brand of cola. The restaurant was very cold to the point of being uncomfortable. All in all a very disappointing experience. There's no way I'm going to be returning to this place.

This is where my Dad and I come to eat whenever he comes into town and we want a nice dinner. Great sushi, plus good wine and an amazing steak and seafood meal. My daughter loves to sit at the hibachi grill and watch the fire when the chef comes out to put on a show for us. I haven't been let down on the taste of food or service yet, always happy and full when I leave.

Went during the winter. Sat at the hibachi with our full coats and hats on because of the draft that was coming through the huge ventilation shafts above us. Not kidding -- it was freezing. One couple (there were 8 of us) left -- they didn't have warm enough gear. We stuck it out and ordered several sushi rolls, lobster and steak from the hibachi, the works. My wife and I dropped over $100. To sum it up, it was just ok. Sushi wasn't good and hibachi wasn't great. So two stars it is -- Meh, I've experienced better.

The Hibachi grill is really good. It's fun to looking the chefs playing the tricks. But the sushi is not very fresh, compare to Takari.

Just got done eating here. The food was fantastic, the service was terrible. BUT, it wasn't their fault. It's Logan, Mormon Country on a Sunday. Most of Utah apparently closes on Sundays but this place is open, has fantastic food, and we were able to get a bottle of wine. They are never busy on Sundays apparently and one server called in sick, so big shout out to our server Katie who although service was slow, took very good care of our table. Normally for that kind of service I would give a 3 star rating but Katie really did her best. And it's definitely one of the better taipan restaurants I've been to.

We had lunch at Kabuki today. The hibachi was fun and delicious! Sushi was 50 percent off! We had filet mignon & scallops and both were great!

Can't wait to come here and publish something Their sushi has become a huge disappointment. It was the best sushi restaurant in this area back to a couple of months ago. The fish was fresh, and the rice was fine. That's why we picked this restaurant for my friend's farewell lunch. And what happened? The roll is about 50% larger now, but the fish on the top and inside was less. To say it more clearly, they packed way too much rice into the sushi roll. All of us can only eat about half (counting as the number of the rolls / pieces) of what we used to eat. Also the sushi roll is too loose. It's hard to use chopsticks to get any single piece. Sorry I won't come back any more.

As long as u sit at the sushi bar, the sushi Is amazing! !! Not sure about anything else..
(5)Kathy A.
This used to be my first choice for sushi rolls in logan. Their menu is excellent plus they offer sushi specials that aren't on the menu and have never disappointed me. Why am I giving them just three stars? Two reasons. First, the hibachi grilled food is no better or worse than any other tepanyaki style restaurant, but these chefs lack the flair that other restaurants have and that is what you are paying for when you sit at the hibachi table. Second, the service just isn't very good. We had such a terrible experience one time that our friends dumped this place for good. I spoke to the manager about this and received an apology, but the restaurant has lost the welcoming atmosphere it had when it was brand new and we were the only customers. Now that it is popular and you have to line up for a table, it seems the management is less interested in the service. Bottom line: Great sushi, average hibachi, below-average show, tepid customer service.

Have only eaten sushi but the sushi is great! Sit at the sushi bar to be able to interact with the sushi chefs. They have great tips on what you may like.

Well this place was very disappointing, first off we were sitting around for maybe 5~10 minutes without being served menus or drinks, and this is while the restaurant was pretty dead to begin with. After waiting another 15~20 minutes we finally had our drinks delivered which some had outrageous prices (Ten dollars for an Asahi? Boo!) And then we waited around for our order some more (see a trend here?) Over all I can say that the service here is pretty lacking and real slow, some of the food like the kebabs were tasteless, and it was just generally unpleasant to be there. The Unagi rolls were alright, as was the fried rice, but this is one of those overpriced places that aren't really about substance or quality. Also All you can eat sushi only on certain days? Get out of here!
(2)B P.
Waited an hour for take out. Then when we get it all the order is wrong. Not impressed
(1)Jess B.
Just when you thought you couldn't get a sweet potato maki in this town. In fact, the chef gently corrected our order because we were about to get TOO MUCH SWEET POTATO. Confirming this place's authenticity, he also took our request for a vegan specialty roll without blinking and came up with some pretty amazing shit. It involved spinach and avocado and seaweed, and it was awesome. The miso sucked, and they need to turn the heat up and nix the bad TV. But when their liquor license kicks in the sake will make up for all that. I look forward to regular status at this place.

Great sushi, great service!

I used to go to kabuki a lot, but have pretty much stopped. The food is still pretty good, but make sure you plenty of time to spare, as the service has gone way downhill. It seems we get a brand new waiter who isn't familiar with the menu (or with waiting in general) every time we go in. I don't know how the waiters can always be new, but they are. The cooks are understaffed, so prepare to wait. I'm still giving 3 stars because the food is still pretty great, I commend the cooks for that.
(3)Bethany H.
Calamari was tasteless. Sushi rolls also blandly offensive. Philadelphia roll was chewy, and not in a good way. Hawaii roll felt like sushi, but tasted nothing like it - probably poor quality ingredients. Beers were not really cold. Hostess and server were very nice. Won't be coming back.
(1)Spencer F.
Great service, great food, fun atmosphere. One of the better restaurants in Logan.
(5)Todd F.
Awesome experience! Carlos was a rockstar and we really enjoyed the experience. The food was quite good and complete: soup, salad, rice, veggies, and meat. I ordered the chicken and steak and both were excellent. Tried my partners filet and that was also great but I didn't have any regrets.
(4)Mark G.
This place tasted pretty great. The soup was nice and flavorful. The salad had the distinctive terreyaki flavor thousand island dressing. And the hibachi steak and veggies was good. Why 3 stars? The meat came out luke warm and was cold within a few minutes. Note we sat a booth not at a table where you eat the food right as it comes off the grill.
(3)Mamoon W.
Good restaurant and good service. We all enjoyed our dinner. If I am in the area, will definitely come back.

I took my hubby here for his birthday dinner, because he loves sushi and Japan, and I had a pretty good experience the first time I came for lunch. So, here is my update from my previous review: 1. No Bento Boxes for dinner, I guess they are only for lunch. That was a disappointment because I really liked my bento box the last time I came, and was looking forward to it again. 2. We sat at the Hibachi Grill, and it was fun and interesting. The cook is very entertaining! However, I couldn't get anything from the grill, even though they had a veg option, because they mix everything together so it would be cross contaminated with wheat (from the soy sauce), and meat from every one's steak, chicken, and fish. Second, you have to sit next to strangers and it was a little uncomfortable because I didn't feel like we could have a conversation. 3. Vegetarian Sushi rolls were 50% off (I guess they are all the time though), so my rolls were really cheap! All but 2 could be make GF. 4. Purple Haze Sake!!! YUM! 5. Mediocre service. We asked if we could get a picture for the birthday wall, and she didn't think so because his birthday was the day before (?) on a Sunday (??!!). She ended up saying yes, and then we hung around for 10 minutes after paying our bill to get that photo, and they never came to take it. Oh well. Our server also didn't know the menu very well, and kept having to run back to the kitchen to ask about GF/Veg questions. 6. While still an expensive place to eat, that would normally be way out of our budget, we were actually surprised how little our bill was! It was about $30 less than I expected! All in all, it's a great place for a date night.. entertaining to sit at the grill if you don't have dietary restrictions, but we'll probably opt for a booth for more intimacy/privacy next time.

My husband and I came up to Logan for our first anniversary this last weekend and decided to try out Kabuki. I am a BIG fan of these types of places where we live and so we decided it would be a nice place to eat for our special night! We headed over there and got seated right away on a very full hibachi table. The gal who took our orders and helped with drinks throughout the night was very friendly and on top of it, she refilled our drinks well before we were out and my husband and I really appreciate that! The food is pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best I've had but it definitely wasn't the worst. The reason I am giving this 5 stars is because of our hibachi chef, Carlos. He was incredible!! I've been to Bonsai, Fuji, Tepanyaki, and Benihana MANY TIMES and I've never had such a fun hibachi chef. He was doing all sorts of amazing tricks and definitely putting on the best show I've ever seen while cooking our food. I was so impressed that I immediately turned to my husband and said "I want to leave a good review for this guy" I've NEVER left a review in my life for good OR bad service so this is saying something! I'm not sure if you are able to request certain Hibachi chef's when you are dining in, but if you can, CARLOS IS THE GUY YOU WANT!!
(5)Corey W.
Great place to take some friends for hibachi. Not the best I've experienced in my travels, but in Logan it's definitely a place to go. I sat at the hibachi and ordered there as well. Salmon was cooked perfectly and not overcooked. Great place!
(4)Jeanette A.
I have only been through Logan once. Today, I traveled to Logan for a Lacrosse game. We discovered Kabuki online and ate there at the request of my 14 year-old. Everything was delicious! We will go again next time we're in Logan. Our waiter was awesome!

Read this knowing that I fully understand that All-You-Can-Eat sushi is never, at least in my explorations, as good as a high-end sushi place can serve. Kubuki is by far the closest I've ever found. This is also much more than a sushi restaurant as well, with an extensive Japanese menu complete with hibachi, so my wife, ever wary of raw fish, ordered a perfectly fine yakisoba instead. But this is not why I am writing this review. For me, it was all about the sushi. They have a broad array of creative, flavorful, delicious, quality rolls that come out beautifully, with each plate a unique, fun, and carefully crafted design. Someone here has an excellent eye for plating. If you like spicy, (I do!) you have to try the Fiery Kiss roll and as part of the included appetizers, choose the Heart Attack. Not nearly so greasy burger joint-esque as it sounds, it's a tempura battered jalapeño, stuffed with cream cheese and spicy tuna. My absolute favorite version of a jalapeño popper I've ever found. The service was prompt, professional, and overall great. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I have not a single complaint. I just wish it wasn't two and a half hours away from home!

This review is for the SUSHI and doesn't take in account the service or Hibatchi. This is the only place in Logan where you can get all you can eat Five Star Sushi. On Tuesdays and Thursday its $ 20.00 unlimited. That includes appetizers and dessert. Its worth every penny. Logan is a college town so the servers are young kids who know nothing about Sushi. However the Sushi chefs are the real deal.
(5)Heather O.
One of the the best eating out experience I have ever had. The food was so awesome and the service was great! It is now our favorite place to eat in Logan. We tried a little bit of both menus and loved the flavor of both!
(5)Leah L.
This place was great. I am so glad they are in town, because Logan sure could use a little more food diversity. This was my first visit, but I will surely be back. There are plenty of food options for all appetites. I don't eat seafood, but my husband does. We decided to go for their half price sushi hour and I was pleasantly surprised to see several very good options for vegan/vegetarian rolls. I had the sweet potato roll and another maki roll that were excellent. My husband was very happy with all of his nigiri and spicy tuna rolls. It was an excellent deal for all of the sushi we ordered. You really can't beat the happy hour. We will definitely be back for more sushi and to try the hibachi grill. Certainly some of the best sushi in Logan and great for vegans/vegetarians too! I can't wait to go back for more sweet potato sushi and steamy hibachi vegetables. I am so glad Logan has a new great restaurant.

Food was great, but the two sushi chefs were overwhelmed by the Saturday night dinner rush. Will return.
(4)Monica H.
I've had dinner at Kabuki 3x now and have been pleasantly surprised each time. My new favorite maki roll is the Godzilla. I've only sat at the bar so can't comment on the teppan grill menu but the sushi menu is lovely. The sushiya's are attentive, take custom orders and will maybe slip you some of their yummy crab salad. Great place to stop in by yourself or with a group. You won't be sorry.
(4)John F.
Excellent place to eat! Great service and fantastic atmosphere to have a great dining experience. Sushi rolls are prepared well, and the presentation is excellent. Two favorite sushi rolls that my wife and I enjoy is the super crunchy and the angel hair rolls.
(5)Billy W.
Best sushi in Logan. Don't waste your time or money anywhere else. I haven't sat at a hibachi table but you can order from that menu and they'll make it for you in the back kitchen. All the food from the back of the house is awesome. Finally don't have to go to salt lake to get my sushi on!
(5)Kathryn B.
Loved their steak and chicken, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rice and the noodles were good, not spectacular, and there are other places in Logan that even have better sushi than what Kabuki has (Takara, for example). Never sat down to dine with a waiter, we did the habachi and it was a blast. Pre-meal soup was delish, too.
(4)C S.
Fun place for a birthday party. Teenagers especially love it. Good family entertainment while eating. One suggestion to establishment--lighten up on the salad dressing. Ours were swimming in dressing and not edible.
(3)Whitney R.
Such a fun atmosphere and yummy food! If you get a combination, like steak and shrimp, it's enough to share.
(5)Trit S.
I travel for work and eat Sushi in many states, very frequently. This being said, Kabuki's sushi is overpriced and tasted fishy - which we all know means it is not very fresh. For those reviews that say 'Best sushi in Logan', you must have not been to other places. Takara is MUCH better for sushi, and has much better prices. I spent around $22 for my sushi, and it was a very small amount. Will give it a try again, but on the first go-round I was not very impressed.
(2)Jon R.
Kabuki food is good but service is absolutely horrible to say the least. Food came out after others in our party had leftovers in to go boxes. It was so late that they brought it out in a box. I understand glitches in service but not making it right with customers is wrong. Food wasn't good enough to justify this horrible service. This place won't be around long. Save your money. You deserve what you tolerate.
(1)Hayden A.
this is delish. not sure how hey tay in business considering their quality, but few customers in small logan utah none the less definitely a go to place.
(5)Hayden H.
This is logan utah. Nothing like this comes to Logan Utah. This is comparable to, or better than any of the other japanese steakhouses, and trust me, I've been to many. The food is great, flavorful and fresh, and and the hibachi grill is better than a lot of similar restaurants. The restaurant itself is nice too, modern, good location, and not the best service but not enough for me to rethink considering this one of the better restaurants in the valley. Come here!

Okay, time for a review update. We came back to Kabuki, and this time, we dined at one of the hibachi grills. Definitely an improvement on the regular menu and the regular dining room! My family was in town, and one family member has extensive food allergies--to the point that the list of things she CAN eat is shorter than the list of things she can't. They worked hard to accommodate us, which was really impressive. Food was delicious--in our party, we had katsu, sushi, filet mignon, chicken, shrimp, and New York steak, plus vegetables. Everybody loved their food. Only reason I'm taking off a star is because we called ahead to discuss the allergies and we were told there were options for cooking the food in olive oil and real butter (both on our family member's safe list) instead of the soybean oil they usually use, and it turns out there was no olive oil and the "butter" was actually margarine, which contains soybean oil--a big no-go for her--plus other unsafe allergens. The chef ultimately preparing our meal didn't speak great English, and ultimately, he ended up cooking her entree in the back, which worried us, because we have no idea how it was cooked. We just hope and pray she doesn't have a reaction later tonight. We recognize her extensive allergies are tough for restaurants to cope with, and they really did a tremendous job of trying to accommodate, but we really would have liked *knowing* she would be safe. So, for your run-of-the-mill allergies, they're very knowledgeable: dairy-free, vegan/vegetarian, even gluten-free, but it would be good to call ahead and make sure the person you talk to communicates with the kitchen so you don't end up with surprises as we did. :) For your everyday diner, this is a great option and the food is very good. I'll be craving that filet mignon for a while!
