Mountain West Burrito Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The Lehi location just opened a few days ago. The restaurant has a nice look and feel to it with big communal tables. They have a big menu with my favorite thing on it - chimichanga. I got a veggie chimichanga, sangria, and a side of chips. The chips were incredible. Really crunchy, not soft or flimsy. A great add to my lunch time rotation. Edit: I am editing my review to 4 stars for one reason, I was kind of bummed out they didn't have biodegradable utensils. If they switched to biodegradable I would be happy to change my review back to 5 stars.

Heard good things so I decided to try it, I am not impressed. I had the steak quesadilla, the steak was chewy with gristle i didnt have even one bite without having to spit out at least on piece of nastiness. There was a good amount of cheese but it was soaked and dripping with some watery greasy substance. Needless to say I won't be coming back.

To have a Mexican place this tasty in Lehi is pretty awesome. Everything I've had here has been great. They use fresh, local ingredients. The carnitas burrito is my favorite, but the carne asada is excellent as well. Their hot sauces are all tasty and I love the guacamole as well. Make sure to give this place a try!

Dinner for 4 and one child at 5:30 with no one there. The food came out to us in 4 different waves. First came my wife's salad and mother in law's chimichunga after waiting about 10 minutes. Next came our chips and salsa after about 5 minutes. Then came 2 quesadillas after another 5 minutes. Then just when my wife and mother in law were finishing their meal, my chimichunga and my father in law's burrito came out. Mine was missing the extra guacamole I paid extra for. When I went back to the girl and mentioned this, she rolled her eyes and said they ran out. I said, "well I paid extra for it." she said you want your dollar back? I said of course. She rolled her eyes again and said I could wait fit then to make more...I said after waiting 25 minutes for mine, I think I'll pass. She brought me a dollar 5 minutes later. On top of this 4 other people came and went while we were given our food in shifts. Horrible horrible experience. I work across the street, so it's convenient but will not be going back. And by the looks of it, not many other people will either. Too bad. It's in a great location and you really have to try hard to have a failing restaurant where it's at.

I wouldn't suggest this place until they make some huge changes with staff and food. I like the thought it's organic and local but this isn't good. I stopped by no one was in the restaurant which should have been a sign. No one is ever there! I ordered my food veggie nachos. Another guy came in 5-10 minutes after me who seemed to be a regular he ordered nachos as well but with meat. After waiting 20 min already they gave him his first! I was pissed that I had to wait another 15-20 min for my food with 5-6 people working too! Guess what this is how you lose customers that looks to be that you desperately need! Funny thing is some of the 5 star people I see on here where some of the people working there!

Had a decent steak burrito, but nothing for it to really stand out. Good size, but the taste was okay We had a group of about 6 of us and they were nice enough to offer us some chips and salsa while we were waiting for our party.

We heard this was a great new place to eat, so we tried it. Awful. I got the chicken burrito, and while it was a good size, it was so bland. I decided to add some of their salsa to add some flavor-- the salsa was so hot (with no flavor) that I could not even eat it, and I love hot and spicy dishes. I consider myself to have a good palate and pretty particular when it comes to good food. So, if you don't care how your food tastes, eat here. If you do care- don't-- You're better off getting a burger at JCW's, or try Thai Drift nearby.

Mountain West, we need to talk about this new location. See, I'm a fan. I'm a big fan. I'm not in Utah county a whole lot, but when I am, I am often consuming foodstuffs at your Provo location. It is tasty, delicious, fresh, wonderful, everything that burritos and nachos and tacos and quesadillas should be. But, you know, I recognize the convenience store scene was getting a little cramped and you needed to spread your wings a little. This Lehi location, however, is not the way to do it. So it's a Saturday night and I walk in for dinner. It's maybe a third full; not a good sign. My husband and I get to the counter and wait for entirely too long for the cashier lady to stop whatever it is she's doing and take our order. (By entirely too long I mean several minutes. I'm more patient than your usual compain-about-the-service person.) The first thing she says, before greeting us or anything, is that they are out of chicken and pinto beans, and maybe cheese as well. She needs to check on that. She checks on it and discovers, blissfully, that they still have some cheese. This is good because I wanted some quesadillas. Half and half. Carnitas and steak. No chicken tonight. They are out of chicken. And pinto beans. My husband gets a burrito, same meats. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law decide to share some steak nachos. So we go fill up our drinks and wait for our food to arrive. Some time later, one of the employees walks out asking who ordered a steak salad, despite the fact that we were given numbers with our orders, so he should be looking for those. Nobody in the room has ordered a steak salad. He goes back to the counter. Shortly after, the lady who took our order comes up to us and says that she has our steak salad. No, we ordered steak nachos. Oh, really, she says? So she goes back to fix the order. Eventually the nachos show up. Without beans, because they are out of beans. The quesadilla and burrito show up at about the same time. We go and retrieve some of the hot sauce we love so much. At the old location, it's thick and hot and wonderful and oh so verde. Here it verde, mild, and kind of watery. Oh well. And my quesadilla was supposed to have pico de gallo, but it doesn't. I didn't realize this until I was halfway done eating it. It was pretty damn delicious. That part was the same. The burritos and nachos were similarly tasty. However, the tortillas on the quesadilla and burrito got pretty soggy pretty quickly. We had to bust out the knives and forks. That doesn't happen at the other location. At some point while we're eating, one of the employees approaches and gives us $5 off coupons for our next visit. Why? Because it took so long to get our orders. That's the one thing I didn't notice, as it didn't take any longer to get it than at the other location. Still appreciated, though, for whatever reason they gave. When we left we noticed a sign on the door saying that tonight they are closing at 730pm (instead of the usual 9pm) with no reason given. I can only assume it's because they are out of chicken. And beans. And maybe cheese by now. Now, I know that this location only opened a month ago and places have to work out their kinks or whatever, but some of this seems excessive even for a new spot. I give three stars because the food is (well, mostly) like I remember it, but I can't go any higher when things are this disorganized. And they run out of chicken.

For me, any quick-service Mexican place is going to draw comparisons to Cafe Rio (I know, it's a chain, whatever... I really enjoy eating their food)... and for the same price, Mountain West Burrito just doesn't stack up. My wife and I both got burritos, and we both thought that they were too simple and flavorless. They didn't bother draining the beans before they slapped them into our dishes, and the meat-to-beans ratio was way too low. At some places, you get your choice of extras. Here you get what they serve: tortilla, meat, pinto beans, cheese. Period. They could also use some better customer-service training. The gal running the cash register rolled her eyes when my wife asked what came in the salad ("it's all up there on the sign"), then got huffy when I told her she'd missed part of my order. Simple things that add up to a less-than-pleasant experience.

They have the best Quesadilla's in town! I love this place and always recommend it to friends. I love that they use local vendors!

This is a hipster place. They try to source food items locally, are environmentally conscious, etc. But in the end, the reviews are right. Lots of hype, little taste. Warning: At the new Lehi location, don't bother showing up between 12pm-2pm. All of Adobe up the street will come here on their lunch break. You'll be better off taking lunch at 11 or 2 instead. Ordered the guacamole and it was fantastically bland. No zip, zest, or flavor. Chips were pretty average at best, at least it wasn't stale, so that's a plus. The salad was super bland and I had to ask for extra salsa for it in order to give it something. I won't order it again. No fixings bar for any extra items to put on your items. Also the drink machine is the most basic soda machine with coke, sprite, and water. I would recommend going to Firehouse subs next door. Their food tastes better and they have the coke freestyle machine which lets you mix thousands of drink combinations.

Has potential if they tweak a few small things.... First off I would like to start out saying that I am a huge Burrito fan... I've been loving them ever since I was a kid. Whether it is some smothered burritos from La Puente/La Frontera, or a flavorful packed burrito from Lone Star Taqueria in Cottonwood Heights, or maybe a large sweet shredded pork burrito from Cafe Rio, or the always reliable wrapped burrito from Chipotle or Barbacoa - Burrito's have always had a special place in my heart. All that being said, I think that's why this place fell short, there was nothing that made it stand out from anyone else. The portion size is good (especially if you fork out the $13-14 for the Giant size) but the food very bland. Brown rice, and not a lot of flavor in the meat or the pico de gallo. Their Guacamole and their Salsa wasn't the greatest, and they both come as an extra charge. They do have hot sauce which is free, and it actually had the most flavor out of anything I ate there. The new Lehi location looks like a knockoff of Chipotle when it comes to the decor, except a little more boring. I was surprised I walked in at noon on Saturday and I was the only customer in line. As I stated in my first line, if they just tweaked some things they would do well. First add some seasoning to your meats, find more flavorful salsas and sides, and find a way to make the building more lively with some music and more energetic employees. But with the current state, its much easier to drive over one exit to Cafe Rio/Barbacoa and have a burrito with a little more flavor for the same price. Small side note for the management company: Your SEO is horrible and you cannot find your website in the first 5 search pages of Bing or Google. You are not found on any Mapping Application, so people cannot find you if they are using their phone to search for food. Put some more effort into this restaurant and you will find a return on your investment.

I have heard so many good things about Mountain West Burrito. I happened to be passing by and was hungry so I decided to give it a go. I ordered a steak burrito. Very disappointed . Rice was overlooked and the beans weren't cooked enough. And when I say enough, I could literally bite down on it and it was hard to even bite through it.. I doubt I'll go to this location again after reading the reviews.

  • Matt E.

I went once and I will never go back. It took over 20 minutes to get 1 burrito, and it was not worth the wait. The food had absolutely no flavor and the chips were so greasy they were soft, not crunchy at all. Do not waste your money, take the extra time and make the drive to Barbacoa or Chipotle!!

Hmmm... What happened at this location. It's been open long enough to work out the kinks. Got my husband's order wrong, soggy chips, and terrible salsa (is it different from the salsa at the other location???seems like it) Won't be back.

I love, love, love the PROVO Location for Mountain West Burrito. They have the best Steak Burrito. However I have gone 3 times to the LEHI Mountain West Burrito 3 times with my mouth watering for the Steak Burrito. First time the steak was so full of gristle I couldn't eat all of it. I didn't say anything thinking they were still too new and I would go back at a later date to let them improve, Same story the next two times. I went back Monday. I approached the problem right to begin with. Pretty sure at least one of the guys there was a manager or owner. I explained to the girl taking our order what had happened and wondered if this problem had been fixed. My sister had never heard Steak Nachos. We also got an order of chips and guacamole. The chips and guacamole were amazing. I give credit where credit is due. We got our food and the same thing with the steak. Too much gristle. I made the comment to my sister that i was surprised that the owner or manager didn't come to ask about our concerns. He did hear us talking to the young lady. My sister said she was surprised too. We have both owned businesses and know that is just good customer service. We didn't even go up to tell them about the meat problem. It was pretty obvious that there wasn't any concern for that. We won't be going back. Feel liek we have given them enough chances. I'll save my Mountain West Burrito experiences for the Provo location. Unless I find they have tried to cut corners in the same way.

I've given Mountain West a few times to win me over but it's just not happening. Their burritos are bland. There are so many better options if you are in the mood for Mexican.

OK, I am giving 4 stars because the food is fresh and I have not tried many items of the menu yet. This review is specific to the chicken chimichanga... The shell is cooked perfect and tastes great, however the contents lack seasoning and feels a bit dry. My advice would to give it more seasoning and add your mild salsa to the ingredients on the inside of the chimi to give it more flavor. The hot sauce is way more overpowering than the contents of the chimi. The ideal hot sauce gives a nice burn yet doesn't hurt, and their sauce is just HOT, no skill or art there. I think their food is good and fresh just needs some additional refinement (flavor) to be able to compete with a Cafe Rio burrito. The staff and environment are great and you can see they care.

Mountain West burrito is the bees knees of burritos in Utah Valley. I attribute some of the bad reviews I've seen to Utahns who don't have a clue about good Mexican food. Beto's has 4 stars and Mtn West Burrito has 2.5? There's something wrong here..... Mountain West is fresh and flavorful and the taste of SoCal I miss everyday. I know I sound like a snotty Californian here but come on, Beto's over Mtn West?!?

Average burrito place, same thing as the other "fresh ingredient Mexican restaurants".

Pizzeria 712, owned by the same management team as MWB, has long posted the quote by Alice Waters "When you have the best and tastiest ingredients, you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary because it tastes like what it is." MWB Lehi proves that she should have included the corollary "cooking all of the ingredients properly and seasoning appropriately might be a good idea, just a thought". I've been 4 times with 2 diners and shockingly it has gotten worse every single time. 6 out of 8 orders have been wrong, the bland index has kept creeping up, and when the errors were pointed out the staff could not have cared less. My wife has ordered the veggie burrito every time ( yeah, I know ). 1st time : no beans at all. 2nd time : no pico or cheese. 3rd time : black beans instead of pinto ( upgrade !) no pico, no cheese. 4th time : no pico, no beans - again. I haven't been as poorly treated but it's a crap shoot as to what will be in the meal. The only guarantee is that it will be poorly seasoned, probably soggy and with crunchy rice. I was sofa king excited when I saw that this was going to be so close to my house, but it's been nothing but a disappointment. As much as I dislike Cafe Rio and Costa Vida, at least at Rio I can find something I like. I'd like to try MWB at the original location because I cannot fathom that it is this bad and has this following.

I really want to like this place. It's right up my alley. Local sourced ingredients, and more natural focus. I just got lunch and brought it back to my office. The person taking orders was not knowledgable at all. He had to come around and look a the menu to tell me what was in a vegetarian burrito, and he had to go look in a pan to tell me what was in the roasted vegetable burrito. I ordered the roasted vegetable burrito, and was not asked if I wanted large or small. The small was a lot, and plenty for me, but if you have 2 sizes I think you should be asked. I asked for salsa when they gave me my order, and they got me some medium red stuff that was just awful. They were putting out the salsa selection so I went and tried a green one. It's there basic one, and it's called (some man's name) original. That sauce was amazing. If you are eating in, there is a tub there so you can just pick what you want. When I got back to my office an dumped out my sack there were loose chips in there. I wasn't expecting chips, so that part was nice, but loose chips in a bag is really tacky. Put them in a small bag or something. The burrito itself was good. Not great, but good. It was a bit too wet. I think I saw him steaming the burrito after he made it. The ingredients were wet and the tortilla got a bit soggy. I really like Chipolte and their burritos, but this is not as good.

I eat at Mt West Burrito at least once a week. I admit that I work in close proximity which makes it convenient, but I also frequent their Provo location just as often. My staple is the veggie burrito with guacamole, made vegan by holding cheese, or add vegan cheese (actually on the menu along with vegan sour cream). I also regularly get the veggie chimichanga. Their chips and salsa are some of the best around as well as their chips and guac. All in all my favorite burrito joint. I used to go to Chipotle regularly and I can see where people draw comparisons between the two. Speaking for myself, MWB is much better. I haven't been to Chipotle since I discovered MWB.

This is a great restaurant if you like fresh and organic food. It's not your typical greasy/cheesy Mexican restaurant. The chicken and beef is finely chopped, fresh and organic. The beans are made fresh and the tortillas are big and delicious. I order the regular sized burrito and never leave hungry. They also have a giant sized burrito if you are brave and hungry. Once you order you can add your own salsa from the bottles that are by the drink machine. They have mild and hot and both are delicious. The seating is family style and doesn't have intimate booths. I don't mind this but others might.

Salt. Salty salt-salt. How could they have such a great philosophy of locally sourced ingredients and fresh veggies, organic beans and then sabotage themselves so completely. I loved this place back in the day, but there has to be some corners being cut. I would avoid this place unless you gave an electrolyte imbalance and need to stock up on some sodium.

I love their chicken salad. I'm never really a fan of burrito but my friends say that they tasted good as well. Their salads pretty big for a lunch menu. Their beans are tasty specially with the combination of cheese smothered on top of their fresh lettuce. Very Yummy. Just a tip, one of our friend ordered their giant option and it's really a giant burrito. He loved it And finished half of it. I know what's his dinner now . If you're looking for a quick fix of salad or burrito, this is the place.

  • Eric J.

I had a carnitas chimichanga and i can't say i was unhappy about anything. This is not the same sort of burrito you would get at any of the other local burrito chains, who all seem to be copying each other. If you really love costa vida, cafe rio, or even/especially betos / rancheritos / etc you may be unhappy here. They seem to get mixed reviews - maybe they have labor or management issues. Maybe i just hit them on a good day. I've never been to the orem/provo location even though i drive past it often.

These guys are great. I come here all the time and they'll hook me up with free drinks and chips for just coming in so regularly. In fact, I came in around noon today after a work out and ordered my custom "paleo bowl" and they gave it to me for free. I like supporting up and coming local businesses and this one is doing a great job. Hopefully Lehi helps support local restaurants to come into this new area. Most people I know who work around here are young and none of them want to go Arby's, Carl's Jr., McDonald's, or other mainstream fast food places that will make them feel sluggish and unhealthy.

  • Darin T.

This place sucks ever since the original owner left. Not only was he hella chill, he made sure food was top quality. No joke ever since I've been back the rice in my burritos is raw, the tortillas are too doughy and get stuck on the roof of my mouth, the pico salsa is watery and makes my food soggy and the beans are dry. I would have given this place 5 stars but now I give it a measly 2. I would eat it if it was my last option but I would never suggest or pick to eat at this place. Sorry.

  • Connor H.

I love coming to this place a lot, I think the food is really good - and is a lot lighter of a food than Cafe Rio, etc. however it doesn't have the same flavor as other places similar. It's still a good taste. I always leave feeing satisfied and full with the food. The giant burrito is huge!! So you probably don't need to order that. The help isn't all that friendly or great, but they do their job. It's family style seating so just giant tables which aren't too bad, but it's not my favorite. Overall I recommend it, not the cheapest, but it's good!

  • Abby L.

I used to love this place. Quality has gone way down hill unfortunately. It has been a handful of time I have gotten crappy meat and partially cooked rice in my burrito. Until something changes, I won't be visiting this place anymore.

  • Mike H.

This place is terrible the food is bland the hot sauce labeled "super hot" is WEAK at best. They have no shredded beef only pork. Price was on the high side considering how untasty the food is. I will not be back

    (1)
  • Mark S.

It is really cool that they buy local. But that doesn't excuse poor quality. Cafe Rio bests them in taste, value, and quality. My carnitas salad was basically an ounce of dry pork, lettuce, black beans, and Costco pico.

Great fresh food. Mountain west burrito is my favorite place to get a burrito. It's a mission style burrito that is hands down the freshest burrito I have ever had. Not only are there burritos outstanding so are there other menu items. I have tried each item and have yet to be dissapointed with any of them. From nachos piled high to salads with an incredible dressing, I am a big fan of mountain west burrito.

    (5)
  • Braden C.

I was excited to have a Mountain West open up closer to my house, but unfortunately this one isn't anything like the original in Provo. The quality isn't the same as the one in Provo, the salsas they have are completely different, not good at all. Sizing of burritos was also very different, the giant sized one in Provo was barely worth the hefty $15 price tag, but the smaller one at this Lehi location is comical. Save your money and go to Cafe Rio.

I can't believe the crappy reviews for this restaurant. Please avoid the one and two star reviews. If you enjoy fresh Mexican food places like Chipotle, this is your kind of place. I wouldn't quite give it 5 stars, rather a solid 4, but had to balance out the clearly, overly negative reviews. Anyway, here is my review- A few details: - They buy a lot of local ingredients. - all of their meat is "free-range" - the prices are great for organic food! (Avg 8-10 bucks) - vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free friendly - they are super quick! - tons of amazing homemade hot sauce I stumbled upon this place two weeks ago and was very impressed right off the bat. Right when you walk into the restaurant you just feel this place is going to be good. Clean, nice down to earth decor, great seating for large groups, and a huge tray of big bottles of homemade hot sauce. I ordered the burrito, which they have two options, regular big burrito (comparable to chipotle sizes and similar places) that will fill most humans and an even bigger one which will fill most ravenous wolves (it's literally 2.5 times bigger than the regular burrito for about $14-15, you could easily split it between two people.) The flavors are spot on, from the rice to the beans to the meat; it's all amazing. Then to top it off they have 3-4 different sauces to choose from! All which are sooo good! I just returned this evening with a group of 20 people. We all had our food within 20-30 minutes! That's fast! It was once again delicious! Next time you're in the neighborhood go support your friendly neighborhood burrito bender!

My visit to Mountain West was completely unremarkable. Boring decor, less-than-excited to be there employees, and bland food led to a completely bland experience. The chips were nice and crunchy, and frankly, the highlight of the meal. The guacamole was bland and boring. It was lacking anything that would have resembled exciting flavors. No lime juice, cilantro, onions, cayenne, or anything else to kick it up. The steamed tortilla for the burrito was gummy and soggy. The meat (I had half and half steak and carnitas) was well cooked. The burrito had the same bland guacamole that we had for the chips. The burrito was one-dimensional, and that one dimension was salt. I scanned the room, hopeful to find a fixings bar so I could add something to liven up the burrito, but it will sadly remain a figment of my imagination. A flavor mirage. I'll give Mountain West another shot, but I won't be making any special trips.

We were in a hurry before the movie and my wife was craving a salad, but Cafe Rio was too far away. We had eaten at Mountain West Burrito shortly after they opened and we didn't think it was that great...not bad, just nothing special. We like to give restaurants a couple of chances, especially ones that are close to our house. I ordered the carnitas chimichanga and my wife ordered the chicken salad. I thought it was good, but it wasn't anything special. I've actually had better at Beto's. They have 2 salsa choices on the table: green - hot and red - normal. The green was hot, but not unbearable. The real issue is that neither salsa tasted very good. My wife really liked her salad and she will want to go back there again. She liked my carnitas and will likely get a salad with that next time. We also ordered chips and guacamole. I really liked their chips, as they are thicker than normal tortilla chips and would probably be very good with some nachos. I swear that the guacamole is the same packaged stuff we occasionally get from Costco, so that was a major let down. Lastly, please filter your water. You don't sell bottled water, and I'm totally fine with getting water from the soda machine, but gross tasting waster is unacceptable. I would have given them 1 star, but my wife saved them. Lucky for me, Firehouse Subs is next door the next time my wife wants a salad.

Is Lehi where restaurants go to Bland-grade their food? I was severely disappointed with how bland and salty my carnitas chimichanga was. My companions had a mix steak burrito and chicken burrito with the same result. The best part were the thick chips. The guacamole lacked flavor as well. Perhaps their strong suit is salad, which none of us tried. All this is a shame given MWB's lineage. Perhaps they're still getting the kinks worked out in this new location.

This location is not quite as good as the others in the mountain west franchise. The food turns out greasier here. With that said I still grab a steak quesadilla when I'm in the area.

Heard great things about this place, don't know why. This location in Thanksgiving Point is nice, but was immediately turned off when the cashier had his friends up front of the line just chatting away since the restaurant was empty and he coughed into his hand just prior to greeting me. We ordered a full chicken burrito, chicken salad, and chicken nachos, and quesadillas. Got really excited when I got my burrito because it was the size of 2 Chipotle's burritos (also the cost of 2 Chipotle burritos), but tasted very "meh." All main dishes were huge! Tastes though, was nothing special, couldn't really taste the freshness, and overall it was very underwhelming except the quesadillas, which actually was good. I'd probably never come back here unless someone else was paying. Could have been an off day for them.

"What do you recommend?" "The chimichanga" So I tried the chicken chimichanga on my first visit. Not bad for approx $8. An alternative to Chipotle, Costa Vida or Cafe Rio but not preferred.

Don't eat here. The food is terrible. We ordered a pork carnitas burrito and it was inedible. It was way too salty. I smothered the thing in sour cream to try to cover up the saltiness but the salt was overpowering. How can you screw up a burrito? I was not impressed and I did not like this place. My friends got the nachos which were way too salty as well. The squeeze bottles of salsa tasted sour, if not spoiled. And besides salty, the food had no flavor. It was horrible. I will never go back.

I work in the area and decided to try this place. I was not impressed. I ordered the carnitas burrito with guacomole. The burrito was mostly just rice and beans that were mushy to the point you could not distinguish between the rice and the beans. The little bit of meat that they put inside was bland. There may have been no more than a teaspoon of guacamole (for which I paid extra for). This was truly a very lousy burrito. With all the other choices in the area I won't be back here.

I really like the idea of this restaurant. I try to eat organic, local foods as much as possible, so I was excited to try MWB. When we walked in, the place wasn't busy, but I heard a man tell the cashier he had been waiting over 20 min for his burrito. Not a good sign. We ordered two burritos and it hurt me inside to hear the total price. We sat and waited, waited, waited some more, waited, and 27 minutes after we ordered our, food was ready. It was also not what we ordered. Not wanting to wait another 27 minutes for the correct order, we decided to just eat what we had been given. (While eating we overheard three separate patrons say their order was wrong too.) The first bite was delicious, as it had the one teaspoon of guacamole in it that they put in my burrito. After that, nothing wonderful. As many other reviewers have said, the food was bland. And saying that is to be expected because it is local and organic is a poor excuse (I'm looking at you Sienna R.!). I would much rather eat a tomato from my garden than one from Walmart that was grown states away and sprayed with pesticides, because local and organic tastes better naturally. Not to mention spices and herbs! They can make all the difference in the world. So I hope anyone who doesn't typically eat organic, local foods does not think this what it should taste like. Give it another chance! Just not at this restaurant. On with the story. My husband felt the same and didn't eat half his burrito because the meat was too fatty. After making it a quarter of the way through mine, I got a giant piece of pure fat and almost threw up. I couldn't eat another bite after that. I threw the rest of it away. Hopefully the owners/operators read the reviews on here and make some changes. As I stated above, the idea of the restaurant is great. But I think they hear from way too many hipsters that this place is cool (and they only think its cool because of the local, organic, vegan spin on the place) that they keep running it the way it is. How great would it be though if they sold truly delicious food that not only made their already target group happy (people who want to eat organic) but showed everyone else just how wonderful eating that way can be.

Been by this place numerous times but never thought about stopping until today. We were expecting another loud Cafe Rio-ish place and were pleasantly surprised to see that they aren't. The menu is limited to a few entrees and each entree has the option of the various proteins. They boast on local produce and other ingredients which was also welcoming. Portion sizes were large and could easily feed two adults. Hands down this place was awesome. The food was extremely delicious. We will definitely be back for more.

I am a fan of Mission Style burritos . I regulary assess the quality of a Mexican Restaurant by its Carne Asada burrito. Mountain West comes in at below average. Their food is perfectly edible. That's about the highest praise I can muster. The rice was bland. The beans had no additional flavor. The meat was under seasoned, if at all. All 3 salsas were flat and one note. I didn't hate it, I'll simply never crave it. In short, if you enjoy layers of of flavor in your Mexican food, move along to other similar establishments .

I'm one of the lucky first visitors (easy since I work nearby) to "earn" a lifetime free chips and salsa card. I'd like to say I will use it every day, but I don't think I'll be stopping in very often for my chips and salsa. Here's why: The food isn't spectacular for the price. I can go up Timpanogos Highway a few miles to Barbacoa, which I believe has a much better burrito for a similar price. The chips are a little too crispy and waaay too greasy for my taste. The meat in 2 of our burritos was too gristly and I thought I had actually chewed a piece of bone (although it was probably just a chunk of gristle) Overall it's wonderful to have more dining options on this site of the Point of the Mountain (particularly non-fast food/burger joints), but it isn't going to be my first option when deciding where to eat lunch.

The food here is ok. The flavor is traditional americanized Mexican similar to chipotle or cafe Rio. However I've eaten here twice and both times my food has been warm, not hot, when served. I like hot food, thus the 3 star rating.

Another "Fresh Mex" knock off. If you removed the signage you couldn't differentiate it from Costa Vida or Cafe Rio. My meal was marginal - a little less than what you would get at a average Taco Stand anywhere in Salt Lake. However, even though less than 1 mile away from the county border, this is a typical Utah County Fav. Basically a small step up from Taco Bell or Del Taco with double the price

It's alright! It's all fresh but not a lot of flavor. It's pretty pricy being "fresh".

The provo location is better. Burritos and tacos are good and generously sized, but service can be iffy and the rice has been crunchy on more than one occasion. The keep a lean staff, so if there is a long line, eat somewhere else. I was once in the restaurant when "the wifi went down" and they couldn't accept cards. I probably wouldn't tie your payment system to spotty wifi... One of the better choices for lunch in the area. Get an order of chips and salsa and share with 4 people!

I decided to try this restaurant despite the 2 star reviews. I came at noon on Tuesday, being that it was lunch time and surrounded by businesses it should have been packed. I ordered the salad, I found it flavorless and bland. The salad came with your choice of meat, lettuce, beans, cheese, and salsa. Extra toppings cost more. I would have to say it was just "seriously" ok and not "seriously good" as their shirts advertise. I probably won't go back, as there are better choices in that area.

The food: The chips were yummy. Could gave used more salt though and there was no salt on the tables. Carnitas burrito bowl. Simple, good. Carnitas burrito, same. Quesadilla, good. Made with white cheese? Never seen that at Mexican place but it was still yummy. Bean and cheese burrito- simple, good. (See a theme here?) Why I only gave it two stars. 1) register broke, after a bunch of tries they asked if we could come back to pay. In the middle of our meal the girl says can we run your card? So my husband had to run over there...still didnt work. It was frozen and they were trying to fix it, but in this day and age I'm surprised they don't have that iPhone app for back up. I winded up paying with a check because we were done and it wasn't fixed. Honestly this is something I understand but I was annoyed that the girl interrupted our meal when it took so long to come to us anyway. And she was kind of rude...(see #2) 2) While the young man and manager were friendly, there was a young girl there ( long brown hair in a bun, leggings, boots) who was very unfriendly. Every time she brought our food out, or during the whole register issue, I would say thank you and she never responded. Never even acknowledged. Same with my husband. She just put the food down and scowled away. And she was not stressed about a full dining room (which I do get) because we were the only ones there. She just seemed half awake and cranky. 3) it took a pretty long time, they just had one cook. Their motto is "fast, fresh, local" and being the only ones there (there was a table of 2 before us) you would think it would be a little faster. I would go back again when I'm in the area but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to dine there. My son is dairy free so I was excited about this place but kind of disappointed in it.

I work in the area and have pretty much tried everything around here. After seeing the reviews, I was hesitant but figured how bad could a burrito really be. The answer is pretty freaking bad. Don't drop $10 here, you'll want it back.

Not at all impressed with the food here. I am all for local businesses but the food here is simply meh & convenient.

From the other reviews it does sound like this location is inferior to the original one in Provo. I'm betting they are right. That being said, I'm giving mountain west burrito in Lehi 5 stars because it is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Lehi. The chicken salad was fresh. The meat was tender, the veggies tasted home grown. The ranch dressing tasted home made as well. After reading the bad reviews, I was surprised to how impressive it tasted. The winner was the guacamole. I feel like the quality of the guacamole says something about a Mexican restaurant. So if you don't feel like driving down to Provo, just come here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
