Had lobster bisque and a sandwich. The soup was very chunky, flavorful and delicious. The sandwich was really good too. My favorite item here are the creme Brulé. They are sooooooooo good! Get ready tone bombarded with people wanting to take your order but otherwise they are very friendly.

Usually Zupas is bumpin', which isn't a bad thing; however, I really enjoyed this hidden gem. It was quiet, clean, and everyone was on top of things. There were people eating, but no one in line, so the employees gave us their undivided attention--and we also had a chance to browse the menu, which is a rare occurrence. I ordered the Turkey, Bacon, Avocado Panini as well as the Mangoberry Salad. Both of which were perfectly tasty. Then I ventured into the unknown and topped my meal off with a Million Dollar Bar. And holy cow! Let me tell ya, that was the absolute winner, GET THAT FOR DESSERT. One employee came to our table and took our tray for us, that's always a nice touch. We ended the evening with smiles on our faces and full tummies, as another employee wished us well on our way out. TIPS & TRICKS: * Try the Italian Soda additives when you get a beverage. It spices up your meal and makes ordinary soda, extraordinary. * Sometimes it can be hard to find (my dear mother drove past it twice, flipping "U's" right and left while feeling flustered). SO, just a heads up, Zupas is between Noodles and Co. and Rumbi's--sharing the same parking lot.

Love me some Zupas! Freshest, tastiest, loaded salads around. Must try the mango berry salad. We get the 2 entree meal deal with a chicken pesto panini....oh my! You can't go wrong with a TBA either (turkey bacon avocado) or try one of the warm zesty soups. I always get a dessert and diet coke too. There's plenty of food to share if you go with a group. Try a few different items and get to know the menu. You won't be disappointed! Tips and hints... Toilet is a "one holer", so be able to hold it til the next one's done. Allow room for a free chunk of bread and the choc dipped strawberry. After dinner we are full but these 2 freebies top off our meal! Try one of the soda "mix-ins". Fun and free too!

Great food, seems freshly made. Good atmosphere with pleasant and positive employees. Highly recommended. Drinks with Italian soda type spritzers you can pop in to your liking. Deserts are great as well! My current faves are the glazed chicken chipotle salad, the red lobster bisque soup, the pesto chicken sandwich, and the Italian club sandwich. Just tried their new fresh herb chicken sandwich as well and will be putting that into my rotation :)

Great meal, at a reasonable price. The soups are outstanding, and the sandwiches are excellent. Meals come with dipping bread and a chocolate-covered strawberry. Salads are very filling and taste great.

Zupas is one of the very best places in Utah to go for soup! Their sandwiches are great, and their salads give you, the customer, plenty of license to "build your own." This Zupas is located conveniently off of I-15. It's clean and offers the efficient service I have come to expect from this chain. On my most recent visit, I ordered a honey bacon club panini and a bowl of Wisconsin cauliflower soup. Both were delectable. Definitely visit Zupas if, like me, you're a fan of soup and sandwiches. You won't be disappointed!

Their soups are all excellent. Their sandwiches are great. They have a bunch of salads, but all I ever try is the "Nuts About Berries" because its so amazing. Every meal comes with a slice of bread (awesome for getting the last of the soup) and a chocolate covered strawberry. This place is always busy, but they're fast and there's a reason its busy.

This place was unbelievable busy during the lunch hour. When I walked in there was a very nice lady that greeted me and went over all the menu options. I have to say that was a brilliant idea because even though they were incredibly busy the line moved quickly. The food was really good and the chocolate covered strawberry they give everyone was a very nice touch. Parking for this location was rough. I had to park really far away in another businesses parking lot. That being said, it was worth the walk.

Good soup. Love the whole add-in thing. Could expand the sandwich thing some, but can't really complain about it. In fact, for a quick meal this is one of those places to go. On the subject of quick, this is where I think they have their only fall down. Slow down people. Give me a minute to read the menu and mull over what I want. It is a bit of a bother when everyone is asking me the same question. I have an easier time when only one guy behind the counter is taking your order.

Getting more and more pricey and beginning to give a lot less food. Example very little chicken on the strawberry chicken salad and they gave us the very tip of the heel of the bread. Still good food but less of it for your money.

Fantastic! Delicious, fresh, and affordable. I will definitely be going back. Good atmosphere and quick friendly service too.

Cafe Zupas was served a work function I attended. Boxed lunches of sandwiches, fruit cups, and a cookie. Was REALLY good! A few weeks later (being this past Friday) a coworker surprised me with lunch from here. Turkey/Bacon/Avocado sandwich and a cup of Wisconsin cauliflower soup. The WI part is the cheese :-) It was literally the best soup I have ever had in my entire life. The "take out" also included a chunk of bread and a chocolate covered strawberry. The soup and sandwich were still hot by the time they got to me at work. The portions were large, I couldn't finish the soup. Wish I could have.

I cant believe this place has a four star. People in Layton are so sheltered. They probably consider Cafe Rio fine dinning. Customer service is excellent, but the value you get is pure garbage, along with quality. They dont even simply have a simple grilled chicken breast sandwich. Their main items: Soup - tasty, sure. Salad - mediroce. Sandwiches - All bread, minimal crap protein. Crap side bread - crap white flour bread. Chocolate strawberry - frozen, not edible. To fill me up I get a sandwhich, soup and salad and water. 13.00 out the door. Still hungry. Taste gets a C+, value gets an F. Suck it.

Very good sandwiches (chicken pesto, barbecue)! Salads are great! Love the barbecue chicken salad! Haven't had a bowl of soup that wasn't great in this place. Service is excellent. Only problem I can see at some locations is that it can be very hard to find a seat at lunch time.

We went because we wanted a quick healthy option for a Friday night dinner and based on the restaurant website and yelp review this seemed to fit the bill. We would've been better off going to a McDonalds for all the fresh healthy food we got. The salad was average, store bought greens, average additions and vinaigrettes but i could've still overlooked all of that if it hadn't been for the soups! The soups were EXTREMELY salty! as in not mildly oversalted, but an entire Mormon familys salt supply for a year in a bowl of soup, oversalted!. Between my husband and i we probably took 5 bites of our soups. You could get a better bowl of soup in a can of Campbells (and i don't really even like Campbells soups that much) The people who worked there seemed nice enough. But to a previous reviewer who compared Zupas to Panera- Panera could sue you for libel. I don't think we'll be going back, if only to avoid developing high blood pressure in our 30's.

I came across this place while visiting Utah. I would compare them to Panera Bread back home in San Diego. The food was good and it had a lot of different selections. If I ever visit Utah again, I would drop in for some good eats.

The thai peanut salad is not that bad but the lady definately put too much dressing on it for my liking. I also had the grilled cheese sandwich with the tomato in it....soooo good, plus it was a panini. The food overall in terms of sandwiches and salad was nothing amazing...this whole place is a lot like Panera Bread if you have ever heard of it. However, the really cool part of this place is that there are stools you can sit at while you eat that let you charge your Ipod or Iphone. It would not let me charge my Iphone 3GS but that might be because my phone is so old. The place is fairly trendy though and can fit a whole lot of people. You can get sandwiches, salads, soups, and the best thing you will get at that place... is a strawberry dipped in chocolate!! It may not be gourmet or anything but they sure do taste good! They also have fresh bread that is extremely good too. I cannot say that this is one of my new favorite places because I think they could have more sandwich options, but it was not too shabby. Inner Fat Kid says: If you like Panera Bread style places....you will like this. Since there is not Panera Bread in the STATE of Utah... Just eat here when you start to have withdrawls; unless you can afford to fly a few states over.

Consistently just like all the other Zupas locations. Their sandwiches are a bit small and everything is hugely over priced, but it's just so darn delicious.
(5)Nikki L.
I could eat here almost every day. Yum yum. The cauliflower soup is the best I've had, and pairs perfectly with a half chicken and red pepper caesar salad. If I'm feeling really hungry, I'll have a grilled cheese, light on the pesto. Really, I've never had a bad menu item and the service is A-1. Super fast and super friendly. And oh, the drinks! I'm able to make my own dirty diet with their coconut and lime syrups. It's a teensy bit more $$ than other fast food places, but I'm able to deal. If they can make cauliflower tasty, and they can, they deserve it.

I went Zupas tonight with the family and ordered the Mushroom Bisque which is my favorite of their soups. However, tonight was a fail. I was two bites into the soup when I bit into mushroom and a small clump of dirt. Awful! The experience of grit between my teeth ended my meal. I threw the rest of the soup away. I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

After a few visits, they are a decent place for quick healthy lunch that does not taste like fast food. The place is always crowded during lunch hours, so they must be doing something right. There are always workers busing tables to keep the place clean. The way you get your food is similar to Café Rio. I am not much of a salad fan, so I never tried their salad, so I always get their Panini sandwich with half soup deal. The Panini sandwiches I recommend are the Hawaiian Barbeque Chicken and Turkey Spinach Artichoke. The flavors just go well together on those ones. The breads are still a little hard. The cold sandwich like the Boston Crab Melt usually leaves an awkward taste in my mouth, so I tend to avoid them. As for soup, the ones I enjoyed the most would be their Thai Lobster Curry, Lobster Bisque, Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo. The ingredients and flavor combine well in those soups. New England Clam Chowder is good once awhile. Zupas is definitely a place for quick healthy lunch, although the chocolate dipped strawberry sorta defeat the healthy purpose, but that works quite well as a quick dessert. One thing did bother me was their "Our table turns over quickly" sign on the table, which could be interpret as "eat faster, people are waiting for your table"...

I never thought I'd like a soup and sandwich place, I'm not a soup and sandwich person. In fact I've liked it so much I'm a regular, and occasionally yelp royalty. This place is cafeteria style soups, salads, and sandwiches. We love the lobster bisk. Good price my wife and I can usually get a great meal for $20. They have great deserts if you have room. I've been meaning to play with the iPhone docks at the bar but I never remember to bring my headphones and I'm always with friends anyway. It gives the place a great new age vibe but I don't think I've ever noticed anyone docking their iPods or iPhones.

Great food and service. Best place for soup I know of. Bread and chocolate dipped strawberries are a nice touch. Visited Zupas last night and watched a teen drop her salad right after buying. Mom unnecessarily made a big scene. Staff helped clean it up immediately and brought out a replacement without being asked. Staff on both sides of the counter friendly and helpful. Zupas is a tad pricey but still a good value if you want healthy food. Often crowded and hard to find a (good) place to sit.

They changed the sandwiches!! We ordered an Italian Club and it wasn't panini style as before. On fluffy, chewy, delicious bun. The panini style sandwich we got was HOT! Thank the high heavens, the sandwich Gods have listened! There is the 5 stars you always had in you, you just needed to reach deeper. Woot!

If you want a soup, salad, or sanwich or prefer to mix two of those choices together than look no further than Zupas. When I go I always get two items with one of them as a sandwich. For the other item I pick either a soup or salad, depending on my mood. For the sandwich I like the Honey bacon club, The Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, or the California Turkey. For the soup I prefer the Thai Lobster Curry, and for the salads I like the Roasted Red Pepper and Asiago Chicken Caesar. The meal comes with a chocolate dipped strawberry which is really good. This location is really busy during lunch. Overall a good healthy restaurant for lunch. Not my favorite place to go.

I visited during a very busy weekday lunch hour. The line was almost out the door but the wait wasn't more then 10 minutes. While in line I perused the extensive soup, salad and sandwich menu and decided on the raspberry spinach salad and Thai lobster curry soup combo. I like that they make the salads in full view and ladle out the soups as well. The salad was exactly what I expected, a nice refreshing combination of flavors with fresh ingredients. The soup on the other hand was cold by the time I managed to secure a table and sit to eat. It was watery and lacked flavor. The 2 pieces of lobster it contained were small as I expected in a soup, but again lacking in flavor. The hubby got the chicken tortilla soup and said it was okay, nothing to write home to Momma about. One kid had a salad that she couldn't eat much of because the onions were so strong. The other kid got the same soup as Dad and only ate one bite of it before she decided she didn't like it. They both liked the chocolate dipped strawberries! They also liked that they could flavor their sodas at the soda bar. Overall the meal wasn't necessarily bad, it was merely blah. It's certainly not worth fighting through a crowd of people for. The price is also steep for lunch, $10-$12 with a drink!

Zupas has a decent selection of sandwiches, salads, and soups. It is very light eating for the price, so better for lunch then dinner for me. The combo is the way to go as it gives you probably the most food for the money. The combo comes with a chocolate covered strawberry. I ate lunch at Zupas and had the Hawaiian sandwich and a Thai chicken salad. The sandwich was only slightly warm and the cheese was not fully melted, not what a panini sandwich is meant to be, so it did not make a good impression. The salad was decent in size, but did not have the flavor I was looking for. My first experience was OK at best, but I have had much better panini sandwiches and salads elsewhere. If you are looking for a quick salad, soup, and/or sandwich then this will do if nothing else is available.

Zupas is great. Excellent food. I love their paninis and soups. Every time I go in, it is always packed. Sometimes it is hard to find a seat.

Did not expect the interior of this restaurant and the food to be what it was before I went. Very pleasantly surprised. I always get the Panini/Soup combo. Love the Yucatan Mexican Soup - comes with a dab of guacamole, tortilla chips, and a squeeze of lime. Try a brownie dessert too, yum.

I was pleasantly surprised my first time going in. I'm a fan :)

yumm!! when the peeps at work started talking about having soup for lunch i was thinking "cheapies". but it was delish! i saw what everyone was ordered and picked the crab sandwich with new england clam chowder since i'm such a seafood fiend! was really surprised that both were so tasty and filled me up. they deliver which is an added bonus. will go back.

Soups & salads WIN. Sandwiches FAIL

I went to Zupas in Riverdale Utah today, they completely messed up my order. I usually don't have a problem with a small mix up but they asked me 3 times what I ordered for a sandwich and then took 10 minutes to bring it to our table. I don't eat pork and they brought me a turkey bacon avocado. When asked by the first person what I wanted it was relayed to the next person "TBA" I wanted turkey artichoke. and then I was asked two more times, this seems like nonsense, why do you have to order your food all along the counter over and over again. Its a break down in communication. Have you ever been to a real Italian deli? They are dead on professionals at food. The employees seemed interested in having fun and not at all interested in me the old guy with the wallet. Rubios across the way is GONE! They were awesome. Good luck Zupas. Sorry this is the only place to put this, no Zupas feedback place on the web site.
