Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

You don't need me to tell you about Olive Garden. If you've been, you know everything you need to know. I love the soup, salad and breadsticks lunch special. Tons of food, cheap price, pretty great minestrone. Don't waste your money on drinks or desserts, just not worth it. The service at this location seems to be better than most other Olive Gardens I have visited. Nothing remarkable, but just fine.

I don't know what it is about Utah, but in almost every restaurant I've been to, the waiter/waitress has rushed me out of there. My waiter at the Olive Garden took my plate away while I was still chewing my last bite and brought the check while my friend was still eating. First of all, I hate when servers take plates before everyone at the table is done. Second, we weren't even done when our plates were taken. When I go out to eat, I want to take my time and enjoy my food. That said, the food was pretty good. I got the Venetian Apricot Chicken, and it came with broccoli and asparagus. I liked that the vegetables were just steamed and nothing else was added to them. There was a bit much sauce on the chicken, but it was easy enough to scrape off. My friend got the Light portion lasagna, and it was pretty good as well. I would get either one again if I went to a different Olive Garden.

I always love the food here but this review is about the staff, in particular, Tony. We brought my 2 year old and we always come prepared to order quickly because time is ticking with the little one. Tony put in our order right away and was SO accommodating. My girl started being fussy after we got our meal and he came out with mints for her and was reassuring us that he would box things up and move as quickly as we needed. He was great with her and so was Carlos. I was so thankful for both of them and their patience. So personable, quick and attentive. What a great staff. No wonder why the Layton OG is our fave. Compliments to them and the management. Thank you!

Between my 11 years being here. The portions have shrunk and prices sky rocketed. The salads good and when they have deals that's always fun. I dont get though why their always busy. Weird

Here's the thing. This is not an indictment on the food, (if you go to the OG and you are disappointed by the food, that is a you problem). What's more, I actually enjoy the food at The Olive Garden most of the time. The problem I have with this Olive Garden in Layton is that it is filthy. Every chair displays a dark oily film at the top. Many of the tables are worn and sticky. I also noticed that when they remove the wine glasses from a table, they put them back up on the rack to be re-used. While I understand that you can't expect perfection from a place where three course meals are $13, I don't ever think cleanliness is too much to ask.

I am a fan of Olive Garden for lunch. I love the simplicity of ordering the soup, salad, and bread sticks. It is cheap and fast. I usually order a Alfredo dipping sauce for the bread. I like the Bellini Iced Tea, it comes with a peach in it!

If you want food that tastes like its been in a microwave, come to this place... The 2 stars are for the epic salad and breadsticks.

Our food came out quickly. Love the salad and bread sticks here. Very healthy mix of lettuce, tomatoes, olives, purple cabbage and green peppers. The shrimp and chicken carbonara was decadent. The chicken was super tender. Our server Elva was attentive and always smiling. She kept our drinks filled and the plates coming when we were ready for the next course. My only disappointment was that I was too full to try a dessert. The Vanilla Panna Cotta with raspberry sauce and blueberries looked delicious on the dessert menu.

Olive Garden used to have good quality food- not anymore. Everything I've ever ordered is greasy and heavy. The restaurant is dirty and the chairs look like a mad cat got loose and scratched them to death. Table near us was a total mess with a bunch of crud on the floor and no one cleaned it until we were about to leave. Maybe I'm picky, but I don't like eating in a messy place.

TERRIBLE! thought old faithful olive garden would be as good as always but i was wrong. took a while for the server to even ask what i wanted to drink. my server wasn't friendly at all. even the salad was different than usual. ugh. so disappointing. won't ever come back.

Well, I have always loved Olive Garden, but this time at this location just didn't hit the mark. We were part of a large party and ordered early because we needed to leave early to get the baby to bed after a long stressful drive. We didn't get the salad until after our meal was delivered, our server didn't return to check on us for quite awhile after dropping off the check (which does deserve points cause it was dropped off early), so we had to flag down a manager to take care of it and bring my husband's take home pasta, which the server apparently forgot about. And the manager didn't even give us any of those delicious Andes mints. Sad. :-(

Wife had the salmon and it was okay but won't order again. My daughter had the chicken Alfredo pizza and she liked it. She took half of it home. My son had the pepperoni pizza off the kids meal and gave it 4 1/2 stars. The staff was friendly.

Dining here was an interesting experience. We arrived (a group of six) and were promptly seated (we called ahead). The staff was quick to greet us and bring us our drinks. There was a delay in taking our order. While ordering, a colleague asked for a glass of wine (9oz XYZ). The waitress asked her how she wanted that. It was a simple and funny mistake that was quickly cleared up. After continuing to the next order, the waitress stopped, and used an offensive word that pertains to people with disabilities. I think that the expressions the entire table made conveyed we were unhappy with her choice of words, but there was not an apology at that time. It took some time before our breadsticks and salad came to the table. The wait staff was very apologetic about this and the time it took to make our food. We understood as we had heard dishes dropped two times since we were seated and assumed they had their hands full. At the end, the manager (I think Amy) apologized for the lateness and offered complimentary desserts to the table. This was a kind and well received offer by our group. Desserts were served quickly and we were off. Overall, I appreciated the efforts they made to apologize for the timing. I do suggest that they provide diversity training to staff and remind them what kind of language might be hurtful to customers.

The one thing that stands out the most to me at this Olive Garden is the excellence of their servers, across the board. They are friendly, confident, and attentive. Half if the experience of dining out is the food. The other half is the service. We had the pleasure of being served by Lauren, and while the food was 3 stars for simply being "cookie cutter Italian," her service was 5 stars, hence my 4 star rating. We had the sampler appetizer. The stuffed mushrooms were REALLY good. The spicy calamari was ok. I really liked the dip that came with it. The fried mozzarella was ok as well. Their soup is fantastic, as are the breadsticks. My wife got the Fettucine Alfredo, which is good. I had the Lasagna Classico, which seemed rather heavy on the ricotta cheese. The sausage should be the star of that dish, but it was overwhelmed by the ricotta, but still an ok dish.

It's olive garden. What do you expect. It's faux fancy dining, filled with screaming children, and your average every day patrons. The servers are nice and friendly, but slow and distracted. It may not be their fault, but we waited for quite some time to pay our bill.

LAYTON, UT: Olive Garden is lowest common denominator Italian food. This location is nice and the service and ambience are pretty good. This is one of the nicer restaurants in Layton (not much to choose from) so the employees are happier to work here than OG employees in other states. Get the Zuppa Toscana, Salad and Breadsticks. Can't go wrong

In my opinion it is hard to find good Italian in Davis County so I find myself at the Olive Garden when I want to get a reasonably good Italian meal. I really enjoy the soup and bread sticks at Olive Garden, I know many like the salad but I am not one to eat many veggies. Olive Garden has a large selection of entrees and they are constantly changing the menu so there is always something new to try if you are so inclined. I tend to stick to my go to the Tour of Italy which comes with lasagne, chicken parm and pasta alfredo. I Like the variety and I like to have both a white and red sauce to add to that variety and this fits the bill. Speaking of the bill, the Olive Garden is not cheap if you want to go beyond soup and salad and have an adult beverage. Service and food quality is normally consistently good making Olive Garden an option if there are no good local Italian places around.

Food is as good as always. Do like a couple of new menu items. The Spicy Calabrisian Wings are a good appetizer. Spicy is the word for it, too. The best part of our visit this time was our server, Lauren. Very attentive, stayed right on top of it the whole time we were there. Quick to refill the drinks and provide more soup or salad if we needed it. That is the best part of going to some places, the quality of service you get.

There's nothing to say about the Olive Garden's food, that hasn't already been said. Endless salad, & breadsticks. Etc... This particular visit, I ordered the soup, salad, & breadsticks. I ordered the chicken gnocchi soup, it had a total of 4 dumplings in the bowl. Next time, I'll go back to my "usual" and request the zupa Toscana. My husband ordered spaghetti with meat sauce, and we asked for two kids meals. Not a difficult order. Or so I thought... Somewhere between the server & the kitchen, our ticket was lost. We didn't know this. And couldn't figure out why the wait was so long! My 3 year old eventually broke out in tears, because she was so hungry, & just wanted her macaroni & cheese! A manager finally arrived at our table & told us about the missing ticket. She comped' our meal & gave us a gift card to use on a return visit. After she left, it still took our food a good 10 minutes to make it to our table. By that time my kids were in full meltdown mode. So, not a great experience; and Olive Garden's food isn't good enough to make up for it. However, I did appreciate the attentiveness of manager, and since I have a gift card, I will be going back.

Great service. Brought the family to dinner after a long day of Lagoon and our server Hollen was AWESOME! He did an awesome job taking care of us. If you can ask for him you will not be disappointed. I definitely recommend this location to all.

I have always enjoyed Olive Garden until yesterday. I ordered take out due to the busy weekend crowd. It was ready for pick up when I got there (I was given an estimated wait time of 45 minutes and planned accordingly). I was in and out in minutes. The order was correct and everything looked good. After my first bite of Zuppa Toscana however, that experience changed. I bit down on a rock (no it was not some fatty part of sausage or seasoning - it was a rock). My husband called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. When he told the manager that I had found a rock in my food, the manager instantly responded, "Did she order the Zuppa Toscana?" After some additional questions, it seems that rocks in the soup is not an uncommon occurrence due to the way the kale is packaged and prepared (aka rinsed, not washed). The manager was very nice and opened a claim in the event I need to make a trip to the dentist to fix my filling (which is likely) and is sending us a gift card for our troubles. You would think that a company that is used to finding rocks in their soup would find a way to better prepare the kale that goes into the soup rather than having to file a bunch of insurance claims. The moral of the story: Don't order the Zuppa Toscana unless you enjoy eating rocks too.

Just had another great take out experience with this fine establishment. Wonderful on-time service with a smile. Keep up the good work!!

Between a scatterbrained waitress and a unbelievable bus boy, I will never go back to this place. Our own waitress was pleasant, a little quirky and was slow at first but was attentive eventually. However the table next to us had a waitress that just drove me nuts. She paid more attention to one of her other tables (4 people) rather than the other (2 people), while making sure the other table ALWAYS had EVERYTHING they needed, she couldn't remember anything they asked for, brought salad with no plates, and when the lady found a hair, instead of apologizing and saying she would do something about it, all she did was say "I'll get the manager". After that, it took her forever to get the salad, never brought silverware or a different plate. The only thing they asked for were the mints at the end, the waitress didn't bring any and when they askes her she said she could not find any, however our waitress brought us 6. We shared! I felt bad for this couple, they had just driven straight through from Lubbock Texas and they couldn't get a decent meal or service. Disgusts me!!! The bus boy (man), there is NO reason for you to slam tables against the walls/partitions either, especially given that there are patrons on the other side. He slammed the table so hard that it shook our table and food. Totally uncalled for. I love Olive Garden, but I doubt that my family and I will ever return. Obviously management sucks!

We were treated very well by everyone and our waitress Lauren was very professional and attentive...knowledgeable. As always the food was excellent. My husband and I will always go back.
