Came in with a group of 7. From the time they brought our drinks to coming back for our orders was probably 15 minutes. They brought out cornbread and honey butter, but the honey had a weird taste to it. I ordered the BLTA, and there was no avocado on the sandwhich. Another member in the pert ordered a burger and fries and there was only a handful of fries on the plate. The crust on the key lime pie had a strange molasses taste to it. We probably will not be returning. The reason for the two stars is because the pot pies we ordered were good

We stopped in at about 6:30ish on a Sunday night, wanting something different. It wasn't busy, we were seated right away and our server was there to get drinks started within a minute and the service was amazing from there on, I wish I could remember our servers name. I ordered the Roasted Turkey Croissant sandwich and it was really great. Real turkey breast, not processed junk, and lots of it, plus avocados and bacon that wasn't just the pre-cooked stuff. My husband got the French Dip, and was equally impressed.

Well let me start out by saying there were really busy as it was the day before mothers day. I wanted to take my Mom someplace nice and really was disappointed to say the least. My Mom did the salad bar and it was the poorest excuse of a salad bar I have ever seen! Our server took a long time to get to us and that was ok she kept telling us she was going to be there soon we liked that. What really made me mad as we were there a very long time and when we asked for a pie our server pointed to the long line of people that were just coming in for pies only and said ' you can have pie but it's a very long wait all those people were before you" Well I can tell you after being there an hour they were not before us. Food was ok not as good as it use to be I really don't think I will be back not a very good experience and food just so so!

Went there after walking out of another breakfast place due to lack of service and this place delivered. Our server Ellen was great . Seemed like the other servers were great too. One girl there we didn't catch her name who was training a guy named nick was friendly and funny and high giving her guests. We liked that. On to the food. They give you this blueberry cake thing at breakfast which is phenomenal. Than we got our breakfast I had the California Benedict which was tasty and bf had the quiche he liked it as well so needless to say we give this place 5 snaps in living color style lol

I don't think the management planned on Pie Day being so busy. It was a terrible experience...waited 40 minutes to be seated, all-the-while 8 tables remained empty! (And those are the one's I could see!) When I finally got seated, they were sold out of almost every pie I ordered. The only positive was Wendy, our server! Overall experience was one-star, at best. Next time, I'll go elsewhere! :(

The pies are some of the best I have ever had. The food on the other hand is just okay. I recommend you skip dinner and just go for dessert.

Now this is one of those restaurants that cater to the elderly. Lol I mean it too. This is the elderly spot. I always go for their burger and fries deal because you receive a pie along with the meal. Portions on pies though are shameful I mean when you want pie you expect a pretty decent size. Great pies though ranging from 7 to 11 dollars. My favorites are apple, blueberry cream cheese, chocolate cream with the white crust absolute pick me upper. Craving for one now just thinking about it. They also serve the fluffiest corn bread as you wait for your meal. Yumm. Pret decent if you was a meal with no loud rude noises in back ground

My fiance and I were not expecting much because it was the first time going but we were impressed with the food we ate. We both got the chicken pot pie. He got the full size and I got the half. The full size was HUGE. I liked my half size pot pie that was a combo and came with a salad and a piece of pie. The pie was outstanding!

First visit to a Marie Callender Restaurant...arrived just before noon on a Sunday. We got off to a slow start as they were just coming off the brunch rush. Ellen recovered nicely and served up an omelette just the way I ordered it. The blueberry coffee cake that came out with the coffee was a nice touch. Good experience!

Came on New Years Day with a large party. The restaurant was mostly empty but it took about 10 minutes for them to set up an area for us (which was just 3 tables pushed together, no reason to take so long). Then we order drinks. Drinks took another 10 minutes to come out. Then we ordered food. Food took close to an hour to arrive. Not a single dish looked appetizing to be honest. I can't comment on the taste of any but mine though. I ordered a hasher. It was about 60% tater tots. Lacked everything else to a great degree. We also found out from the waitress that the eggs weren't fresh. They came from powder. I also have to comment on the (small amount of) sausage. I love sausage. The sausage in this tasted bland and awful. All this considered with the fact that I wasn't expecting much to begin with, I wish I could give 0 stars. I'm not one to complain usually but this place blows. The waitress was fine, but everything else sucked.

I agree we may have come in with w larger than normal group, but seriously, choose somewhere else... Anywhere else. To be honest, I've only ever had their pies before... Those are the only decent thing to order here. Not only did it take over an hour to get our food, the waitress wasn't apologetic, the max n cheese was still stuck in the frozen position it must have been heated up in, the ribs were dry, the pot pie looked like milky piss, and the portion sizes were selected for 5 year olds. Three thumbs down!

  • Murphy D.

I was insanely disappointed. I did come here with a party of 14, so ill leave that as a disclaimer. They took our order quickly, and it took over 45 minutes to bring it out. It was crazy. There were no less than 5 other families that received their food before us. The kids food seemed like it was from a box or frozen, the service was not only slow, but drinks were empty more often than not, and no apologies were given for the wait. The one positive; the ribs were ok. I would never come here for anything other than pie, unless you want to be disappointed. We got about 9 different dishes and none of them were anything special. I am wholly disappointed, and I would put money on the fact that you will be too. I HATE applebees, but regret not going there tonight, and was longingly looking accross the street the entire time. Spare yourself.

I ordered a sandwich and a slice of pie. It took half an hour for it to come out. I have heard good things about the pie, but it left something to be desired. Only got one refill on my drink and then the bill took a while again. I came as a little kid and I seem to remember somewhat of the same experience.

We went there for breakfast this morning--it was great. All breakfast dishes were $5.99 or less.I got Eggs Benedict, wonderful and my husband a ham and cheese omelette, terrific. Hash browns cooked properly. Good coffee too. Waitress was very attentive and nice. Other staff friendly. We also got a complementary serving of warm blueberry coffee cake, delicious. Great place for breakfast.

Five dollar breakfast you can't beat that and they brought us a really good blueberry bread too it was Delish

Very slow to get in even though there were numerous empty tables. Ordered the Tuscan shrimp pot pie. After waiting 40 minutes was told they were out. Settled for a mediocre chicken pot pie. We used to love this place. I now understand why the chain is going under. Very disappointed.

I remember why we stopped going here now. The lack of service. Went for breakfast. Only 3 couples in the whole place. Manager sits us and we wait and wait and wait. The waitress never shows. The manager needs to learn what service is. We drover down the road to Dennys and were seated in 5 minutes, had menus and coffee in another 4. that's service.

A group of us were attending a convention at the Davis Convention Center and we decided to get lunch here because it was close by. Our server, SAVANNAH, treated us very well and didn't make any outward judgement based on the costumes we were wearing. She was attentive, friendly, and professional. The restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious. I saw the manager, SEAN, checking on tables (including ours), helping servers, and being very aware of what was going on in his restaurant. It seems like the place is well managed. We were all very impressed and when in the area again we plan to return.

As I sit here now, wondering if I'll be able to keep down the disgusting fettucini Alfredo with perhaps the worst chicken I've had in my life, I wonder why I came here in the first place. Though not all of the staff are exaggeratedly annoying, thankfully most of them are! The rubber dog toy that resembled chicken that was placed on top of my fettuccini is now forcing its way back up my esophagus, so I'm afraid this must be it.

I have had breakfast here off and on over the years and I have to say it has not changed. Hasn't gotten better or worse. Nothing new or exciting, but it does need work. I got my whole order, my son got half of his and my wife only got hers when she asked about it. Quality of the food isn't spectacular, edible, but not great. It fills in as "someplace else to eat breakfast". Thank God, they make great pies!!!

  • Ein W.

Dropped in for some Mother's Day pie, ordered the Chocolate Satin, and it was divine! Better than Village Inn's comparable! In addition, our server was friendly and prompt, we enjoyed our dining in eating our desserts.

I never was a big fan of Marie Calendars but I have to say that the food and the service at this Layton location is very good, the dining room is clean. I would definitely recommend this location.

There comes a time in one's life when they must search out their place in life and where they belong. After much soul-searching and introspection, I discovered my purpose and place at Marie Callender's in Layton, UT. Their restaurant has been the goto place for my buddy and I after attending Real Salt Lake games. There is no better way to end a night of soccer hooliganism than with dessert here. Their pies are delicious. But it doesn't end there, their cheesecake is delicious as well. And they serve you large slices. All their desserts are like Heaven wrapped in deliciousness with flecks of love in each bite. Don't settle for the frozen store versions that aren't even the same recipe, come in here for the real real. And wash it down with one of their extreme hot chocolates! Their excellence does not end with their food though. The restaurant is always clean, especially the floors which they take great care to vacuum. And their staff makes for an enjoyable experience, especially Natalie. She is a saucy little number who serves you up a side-order of sass with every meal. She is an absolute delight. Make sure you request Natalie's section the next time you dine here.

Friendly service and good food. The specials were reasonably priced and I was surprised to find out that mine included a slice of pie after the meal. Of course, they are famous for their pies and it was excellent.

Food and company was fantastic. At first we were sceptical because of the prices on the pasta but we learned that they actually came with slices of pie! The waitress was excellent and in very good company with light conversation and happily giving us food suggestions. I had the street shrimp tacos and they were light and very delicious. Food was cooked very pleasantly. They are also looking to hire! Am definitely going to try and apply.

Went to Marie Callender's tonight. I have to say that I was unimpressed. As I looked over the menu I couldn't find anything that I wanted so I had the soup and salad bar. The soups were average at best. The salad bar had plenty of choices of toppings and it was fresh and cold. My family thought the food was just OK. No one really had anything negative or positive to say. My biggest complaint was when the bill came. Wow, for the price we paid I would have expected much better food and service. It was a bit pricey in my opinion. We also bought a pie. Again it was OK, but much too much money for what we got. Our waitress was not very friendly. I would call her grumpy, but maybe she was just having a bad day. It wasn't very busy. I was a bit surprised to several employees standing around gabbing in the dining area. Not very professional. All in all it was a mediocre experience. I hadn't been in there in over a year, I was unimpressed then, and I think I will make it much longer before my next visit.
