Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

If you think Mexican food is best served in one of those hackneyed "fiesta" spots with the sombreros on the wall surrounded by colorful blankets and other disneyesque stupidity, you're going to hate this place. If however, you want simple, beautiful Mexican home style cooking, you'll go here and fall in love. The salsas are homemade and delicious. Where at most places "mild" seems to mean flavorless, here it means what it should: mild spice! The pastor is seasoned just right. The menudo will put you on the floor with it's clean earthiness and fire! Have them make you a fresh hojaldra or gordita. If it's not busy I've even had them make me things that weren't on the menu like tlacoyos and chilaquiles. To top it all off, just get the mole, assuming they're offering it. Chocolatey, spicy, sweet, spicy, chocolatey... oh man is it ever good. With Lupita and Casi working the kitchen, you simply can't go wrong.

I happen to really enjoy this place, never disappoints when in the mood for authentic Mexican food and they're always willing and happy to modify to your taste (less hot for me) AND Lupe actually made something that I requested that wasn't on the menu (chilaquiles) just to make me happy! BEST chilaquiles I ever had.

We went to Jarochos for dinner because we had a discount coupon ($25 off of $35 worth of food). Not great on the curb appeal. The sign isn't lit, so we wondered if it was closed. There was only one waitress. Fortunately, it wasn't busy. There were four tables occupied while we were there. The waitress was friendly and courteous. The decor is a bit dated and my wife commented that the place didn't feel sparkling clean. But it did have a bit of personality. They have tried to provide a nice atmosphere on what appears to be a limited budget. Our waitress didn't speak much english and the menu was entirely in spanish. I had to pull out the Iphone to do some translation since my spanish is very limited. The menu was printed on several sheets of colored paper stapled together. I don't have much sympathy for not having at least an average looking menu. You can easily make a menu on any computer, print it on card stock and have it laminated at the office supply store down the street. We ended up ordering 4 dishes since we had to get our bill up to $35 in order to get the discount. The chili rellanos was pretty good. A bit overdone and slightly under-seasoned. Rice was pretty good. The beans were OK. My wife ordered the chicken soup with vegetables. She said it was tasty. It had a chicken leg with large chunks of veggies in broth. It was a meal by itself. Sorry I don't remember the name of the next dish, but it was the most expensive thing on the menu. It was a large fish (head and tail included) stuffed with small shrimp and steamed in aluminum foil. The sauce and seasonings were very good. The fish was slightly overdone. Finally we ordered some chili verde. It was the best of the bunch. A bit salty for my taste, but it was very good. There were plenty of corn tortillas to accompany each dish. Needless to say we ended up taking a lot of food home. It isn't a place that is extremely fast, so don't be in a hurry.

Super good and authentic. We had the sopes with asada, and the flautas. Both had the magical taste that only comes from spanish hands. Want to go back for 2 for 1$ tacos on wed and to try the ceviche.

Walked in and almost walked back out because it smelled like old fish, but I had a restaurant.com certificate so decided to brave it. All I can say is, blah. Boring, bland, and the service was incredibly slow...especially considering there was only one other party in the restaurant.
