We stayed in the Parry Lodge on the way through Kanab. Thanks to the reviews on Yelp, we decided to give it a try. We arrived after 10pm and we were greeted by a friendly staff member. He had our reservation and quickly gave us directions to our room. The lobby was a bit dated, but it had character. The same could be said of the room. It felt a bit dated, but it was clean an nicely made up. We had a king bed room and the mattress was a bit on the firm side, but I didn't have any trouble sleeping. We decided to try the breakfast buffet. There was plenty of good food. We got in there about 8:30. It looked like a couple of the items could have been rotated a bit sooner, but everything was tasty and the staff was very helpful. For $8 I got all the breakfast I could eat, plus a bit. It was a much more memorable experience than staying as some chain hotel. The price was right, the people were very nice and the place felt like history had been there and paid it a visit. I would stay there again.

My partner and I discovered food options in Kanab are a little limited in the mornings -- most places don't seem to open until 11 or later. Thankfully, we found Parry Lodge in our quest to find food open earlier in the day. I was a little hesitant to try this place considering it's an old-fashioned hotel/motel-ran restaurant -- but I also wasn't willing to go hungry for several hours until something else was open. From the street, Parry Lodge is very quaint looking and full of historic charm. The interior follows suit -- the dining area is large, quiet (ymmv, it was pretty slow around 10:30 when we arrived for breakfast), and filled with the kind of decor that made me reminisce about grandma's fashion sense, The service was prompt -- we were greeted right away. Our waitress -- an older lady (as most of the staff seemed to be), was very attentive and friendly. Everyone was polite and welcoming. To start things off, I had a hot chocolate, which came out with a dollop of whip cream and a pinch of rainbow sprinkles on top. The hot chocolate purist in me was a little alarmed and thrown off by this. The child in me practically did a cartwheel in joy -- you can put sprinkles in hot chocolate?! That's kind of magical. My (native-to-Seattle) partner had a coffee, which he described as 'average' and 'acceptable'. When it came to the food, I had the meat and cheese omelette with bacon and home fries (ie: cubed potatoes with onion, green, red, and yellow peppers). The omelette was perfectly cooked -- fluffy and filled with crisp bacon and smothered with REAL (!!) cheese. No American cheese squares here (yay!). The home fries were cooked well, soft, with crisp skins, but a little on the dry and bland side. Salt, pepper and ketchup helped. I think I'll go with hashbrowns next time. My partner had the eggs benedict, which he said was 'quite good', though he thinks the eggs were sunny side up -- not poached as they're traditionally supposed to be. Parry Lodge has other standard breakfast fare as well (pancakes, etc.) and even a breakfast buffet (ends at 10 am), so there's something for everyone. All in all, my partner has described Parry Lodge as the best breakfast you can probably get in the Kanab area, and I couldn't agree more. Worth trying and one of the better breakfast places we've been to on our road trip through UT.

Had the buffet. It was Mediocre. I wanted some salsa but the waitress never looked back at my table after I ordered & I was unable to get her attention.

The town of Kanab was the location where many old westerns were filmed. There're many old photos of movie and television stars hung inside the hotel. You're welcome to take a peek without eating or staying in the hotel.

More of a museum than a hotel. If you have the old western movie bug and want to immerse yourself, here you go. If you want to experience a well preserved mid-century motel, here you go. If you're looking for a comfy place to stay, no. We had a room that had two small bedrooms, no tables or chairs. Bright lights outside the windows that the curtains did not hide. Noisy. Wifi not good. Restaurant not good. High volume tourist circuit.

Cute place with a lot of history. Its older but my room, although a bit dated, was spot less and had new carpet and smelled of fresh paint. The comforters seemed brand new (I usually don't stay in a place that has comforters but didn't have a choice this time.)and loved that it had a separate sink and sit down make up vanity with good make up lighting! This place was also really affordable compared to other options. Unfortunately couldn't score the John Wayne suite this time. Overall a great stay and could walk to several restaurants and shops. I will say a very minor negative is that the hotel is located off the main street and next to a fairly busy residential street. I slept with my window open a bit on the second story and you definitely hear street noise. Wasn't too bad but definitely noticeable! Also, no spa but has a pool open in the summer. I'd stay here again.

I love Parry Lodge! We came here for breakfast because the 89 North is under construction every day until 11:30 and we were coming from Page on our way to Bryce Canyon. This place is so cute and charming. We stopped because of the huge sign outside and the colonial style cottage architecture. Inside was pretty empty and we sat near a window. We both ordered a standard 2 egg, bacon, hash brown breakfast. Everything was cooked to perfection. The only thing I would change are the waxy vinyl table covers and maybe the layout of the dining room. Stop here if you're doing a road trip in the midwest!

We had a great time staying here, in Kenab, and we would go back just to explore the town and area again. They were remodeling at the moment but it was still easy to navigate and the breakfast was just fine. Loved reading about all the history of the place, want to go back in summer to watch movies in old barn.

This is an interesting place...I really felt like I went back in time. The look of the place, the furniture, the clothes, the conversations are like from a different epoch. I do not have a lot to say about the room - you can sleep in it and that's a primary purpose for us. But we were sold on the fact that the place has breakfast. I would recommend choosing menu items over the buffet. It's not like the buffet is bad, it's just the menu items are really good. The cooking/doneness is right, the portions are big and taste fresh. The ladies that run the place are real belles with coiffed hair and white lacy aprons. The local elders next to our table were having a conversation about the cold war times...That was an interesting experience but I would probably skip this place the next time I am in the area.

This review is for the restaurant only. It also is only for breakfast. Our company usually has a national meeting in Las Vegas each year. At the end of each meeting, there is a group of guys that rents a cabin in the mountains of southern Utah. Several years ago, we stopped at this little hotel on the way to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. It was just by chance as nobody in the group was Yelping at the time. To be very clear - this place may have the very best breakfast buffet in the country. They have nearly everything. However, if you want something they don't have out all you have to do is ask. The waitress happily heads off to the kitchen to ask the cook to create what you want. They have never turned us down. Any kind of egg to waffles, the best bacon in the world (no limit on quantity), many kinds of fresh fruit, etc. Oh, the bottomless cup of coffee. If you are ever in southern Utah, don't miss the chance for the best breakfast you will ever have.

Outstanding place for the $67 . got a room with a separate but adjoining room! Great food and really clean! Go out of your way to go here ! Now that we found it we will never forget it! Right between north rim and Zion in fact go though Zion and see the north rim and come stay here. We stayed in the vintage part on purpose it is awesome! Hope they keep the price low! Tip the help well so they do!

The food at parry lodge this year has been outstanding. I live and work in Kanab. I enjoyed that most of the food was available as either a sandwich, salad, or a wrap. The salad was excellent! My grand daughter (4) even ate all her food! If you get a chance to eat here, please do.

I think this was the first time in the last 5 years I have not given any tip in a restaurant. First the waitress served the wrong things. We had to wait too long for her to bring the ordered stuff. Then she has just abandoned us. We were looking for some coffee refill, walking around the restaurant like two fools not knowing where to go. Another waitress told us, that our waitress had gone home. Good to know. After that, we had no waitress. And nobody came to our table. We waited 15 minutes for the check. So I decided I had to ask again. Another waitress came. It was just a mess. Nobody in this restaurant seem to care or know what's going on. The food was nothing special, besides it was served cold. If I had the chance to give -2 stars, I would. It looks very nice from outside, but it's the worst place to eat, don't go there. Food is also very cheap. People inside are just regular workers from other places. It's not a place you would go while you are on vacation. It's a degenerated place. Don't get fooled by the nice look from outside! Btw, dogs are allowed inside the restaurant. That didn't even bother me though, because everything else was worst.

This review is for the restaurant. I did not stay here. We were driving through Kanab on our way from Phoenix to Panguitch and we were hungry. We really wanted lunch, not breakfast food. It was 11am and there were not many choices. another variable was that we had our 130 dog with us so we wanted to find somewhere we could eat outside with the dog. We stopped into the Parry Loge and they were more then happy to accommodate us and the pup on their patio. They start serving lunch at 11, but our server seemed surprised that we didn't want breakfast. While we waited for our order we enjoyed some really great local beer, Goldenspike was a great heff. I got the salad bar with my cheeseburger. It was very clean and well stocked. The broccoli salad was really good. Our server brought out these delicious homemade biscuits that were yummy! My burger arrived with fries even though I chose salad as my side, BONUS! The fries were good and the burger was fresh, juicy and cooked perfectly. (See the pics i posted) I will absolutely stop here everything I pass through Kanab. The dog loved it too!

Food was edible... Similar to Denny's or something along those lines. Nothing I'd go out of my way for. Service was awful. Had to ask for things that should be standard (a spoon to stir my coffee with?). My French toast came without syrup. Another's eggs Benedict came without hollandaise sauce. Another's toast (which he asked for without butter) came buttered. And my mug had lipstick on it (and I don't wear lipstick). Would not recommend this to anyone unless they are looking for cheap, average food and don't care about service.

We really do love this place, but it inconsistent when it comes to service. Sometimes it is over the top great and others it is just a struggle. The cost is very reasonable and the place has a lot of historic charm. We love the cheap buffet breakfast in the morning before we head out to explore the local areas or volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I say, if you are super persnickety, I wouldn't stay here but then in Kanab, I don't think you are going to find a Ritz Carlton anywhere anyways!

We stayed here because it was the only place we could get a room after visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon! It was okay-nice. Big rooms. I think the $100 we spent for the room (after the AAA discount) was a little pricey - even for the "Season". While we were eating the $5 breakfast buffet, a town parade started - we could see it through the huge windows -not many spectators though - because the whole town was in the parade! It was a long parade!

Anna M did all of the hard work for my review ( I like to wait until my GF writes it then I copy and paste. Yeah, I'm the 130lb dog she's referring too). Like she said, this is for the restaurant only. We were hauling tail as fast as possible to get to her family's cabin up north when the hunger games started in our bellies. So, we drove around this town for about 30 minutes and couldn't find anything open. Apparently, in southern Utah, it's perfectly OK to not open until 11:30am ON A THURSDAY. It wasn't even Sunday yet (that's a whole other review, thank you Subway of southern Utah for being the only place open on Sundays...not even the local Wendy's was Open at 10am on a Sunday!!! Wtf world does Utah live in? Wait... I know that answer. Local places I expect to be closed. But Wendy's? Dave would be so ashamed at his daughter's lack of CEO'ability of his franchise. All the more reason kid's shouldn't run a family restaurant. Change sucks. I've now broken my soap box, and will get back on track). So we pull into this "Motor Hotel" expecting, well, not great things. It's called the little Hollywood of Utah (I guess they've filmed some western's here? Wonder if they opened the restaurant's up for The Duke. I assume so, since the town is still here. The Duke was the original chuck Norris, before he allowed Chuck exit god's birthing canal. RIP Mr. Wayne.) Well, I meander (yeah, meander) into this "shit hole" only to be slapped in the face by judgment. Then stepped on by the dog. Real nice place. Like an original wendys, only open and nicer. Veer to the right, and you'll come across the salad bar. No roaches there, were good. I ask if dog's are allowed on the patio, am told "as long as they aren't a pain in the butt and bark". Check, makes sense. My follow up remark: "so, kids aren't allowed out there? Perfect. We'll be outside". Haha. Ok, ok. I joke I joke. I didn't ask that follow up question. But I wanted too. My classy side kicked in...until we sat down outside at a picnic table. Then all the class left the building. Also, the 2 kids swimming in the pool in their he-man under-oo's solidified the down home, anything goes, attitude. Good food, good service, and polite, small town America. Not great. Not wow your socks off, this should be on Diner's, Drive-ins and Dive's. but, still, it was cozy and friendly. A perfect pit stop for a long road trip. Btw, the chedder bacon biscuits are legit!

I really liked this place. The grounds were pretty and the rooms were all themed and named after actors. The front office was adorable and the staff was friendly. It was only one story so we didn't have to lug our stuff up and down stairs every night. They had a nice pool and a restaurant attached. The reason it only gets 3 stars in our book is the shower. After a long day at national parks showers are all a person wants and theirs was a pain to work. It kept on switching from scolding hot to freezing cold without touching the knobs. Additionally, the door was placed in a way that if you wanted to close it while using the restroom you had to stand in a tiny space between the shower and sink. Close it. Then do what you went in there for. That being said, I would stay there again and it was in a wonderful part of town. It was fairly cheap, and with those prices you have to expect some quarks.

I had the opportunity to stay at this Lodge for the last 3 nights in Kanab. I knew little about this place up until recently. Kanab is apparently known as "little hollywood." Many, and I mean MANY westerns and old films had been filmed in this little town itself. Like their bio states, Parry Lodge was founded in 1931 by the three Parry brothers who were incredibly smart enough to persuade Hollywood to bring their production companies to the little town of Kanab. The hotel itself is pretty neat considering the numerous actors that have spent their nights here. They have a common theatre area in which they play old westerns that were filmed in Kanab itself. The pool seems pretty big and clean though I didn't have the opportunity to take it for a trial. Hotel rooms? They're pretty spacious...but the beds and sheets look like they haven't been replaced since 1931 when the lodge first opened, and the TV is kind of a joke. Don't count on free Wi-fi. And service? The people don't seem to take the extra effort to be overly friendly to you. But that's okay, we only spent the night here. Considering all the history in this place, this Lodge isn't half bad. And their breakfast buffet? I think the waitress hates her life...or hates (dare i say it)...Asian people. Shit, she was rude. Go for the history, don't expect them to be friendly to you, but it's certainly something to check out.

Maybe I'm not as discriminating as other reviewers, or maybe the Parry Lodge has cleaned some things up since their visits, but our experience was very positive. Yeah, the rooms are dated with old, dark furnishings, but the tv was a large flat screen, the mattresses newer and very comfy and the sheets clean and soft. Everything worked and the staff was very nice. I did not try their wifi since I bring my own. The shower was good and towels the right size. Breakfast was fun because several of the locals were eating and visiting with us. The waitress couldn't have been sweeter. It's not fancy, but it is comfortable and inviting. They have western movies in the barn on the grounds too. Plus they have nice grassy area for your dog and easy parking in front of your room. I like staying at the Parry when going through Kanab every year. It's more interesting than the chains.

Simple and delicious breakfast. Was here for the off season and was happy to find it open and serving breakfast. They don't serve lunch on the weekend in the off season but I wanted some eggs so it was perfect for me. Cozy little place, I would return.

This place has had an update since I was here a few years ago. Flat screen and a nice mattress in my room. This town is close to both the North Rim of the Canyon, Zion NP, Bryce NP, Coral Dunes SP among others. They have a breakfast buffet in the AM which I didn't hit but the staff was nice and the room clean. There is a pool as well for the kiddo's and free wifi as well.

Any kind of egg to waffles, the best bacon in the world (no limit on quantity), many kinds of fresh fruit, etc. Oh, the bottomless cup of coffee. If you are ever in southern Utah, don't miss the chance for the best breakfast you will ever have.
