Food was decent but I ordered a big red burger that was supposed to have bacon and ham on it and it didn't come with it. I was hungry so it didn't click for a few bites into it so I went back and told them of their mistake. Instead of apologizing and giving me a new correct burger they cooked some ham and bacon and gave it to me on a plate to put on my burger.... Better than nothing but kinda shitty service in my book. And the large fry was the same size as the medium.

Good burgers and friendly staff. Prices were good as well. I liked the atmosphere, reminded me of a place back home. Not fast food quality, but definitely no-frills dining. Would definitely go back!

We were passing through Kanab and decided to stop for lunch. The place was packed! There was one booth open so we sent the kids to sit and wait. We ordered our food and waited.... Another booth opened next to the first booth we had... So my parents went and sat. About 20 minutes after we ordered, our number was finally called! My dad & husband ordered the Big Red... It was decent sized. They liked it. My mom had the BLT. She said it was good. My kids had the ham & cheese dinner. They loved it. I ordered the fish n chips. They were a good size and were yummy! They were definitely real fish... None of that pressed processed junk! Good food! My dad is an old timer and thinks that the everything should come with a dill pickle spear and fry sauce should be free!

My family and I are big fans of Big Al's. We eat here whenever traveling from Arizona to our ranch about 15 minutes from Kanab. They have plenty of burger options, my favorite being the Buffalo Burger. Real Buffalo meat grilled to perfection with all the classic burger fixings. It's the bomb-diggity. There are numerous shake options, and I've only tried the pineapple, peanut butter, Oreo, and chocolate. Each one was really good, but the pineapple wins. Something I am obsessed with is homemade waffle cones. Which they have. And they will fill that cone of delciousness with even more delicious soft-serve frozen yogurt. I must caution you against the peanut butter one though- it wasn't my favorite. It had a slightly tangy after taste from the peanut butter/yogurt combination that didn't sit well on my taste buds. Don't worry, said "tangy flavor" was not from spoiled milk. Trust me, I know what that tastes like, sadly. Everything else here is good! It's so much better than the McDonald's nearby, and I beg of you to try this place instead. McDonald's gets enough customers throughout the world as it is. Plus, this is a local business deserving of your money. Give it a try if you haven't already!

Pretty good burger & fries, but glacially slow service, and they weren't busy. Not many food options in the area, and if you're a burger kind of guy or gal, this isn't a bad option at all.

Stopped in for some ice cream. Service was good. Ice cream was good. Prices were fair. I would stop again.

For those of you who know what Foster's Freeze or Dairy Queen is, this place is just like that -- high school aged employees, lots of menu options (burgers, chicken sandwiches, ice cream, shakes, fries, etc.) but the food is mediocre. My boyfriend and I each got a buffalo burger, expecting a patty made from bison meat (since they are so ubiquitous here), and instead got a plain burger with a very thin layer of buffalo sauce, cheese (costs extra), some lettuce, and a few sliced pickles. Slightly disappointed, but that's okay. To drink, I got a coke float and my boyfriend got a root beer float, which were quite satisfying after a long day of exploring the parks and driving around. To go, we got fish and chips, which we didn't even eat until the following day when our car broke down and we couldn't go anywhere to get food, so it saved us and was decent even the next day. Overall, it's meh. But there's ice cream!

Stopped here on our way from the grand canyon to zion. I'll keep this short and to the point. Great stop for a nice-sized greasy burger and fries. Quick stop and better than the subway or other fast-food chains in the area.

This is good, solid diner food. I eat here on a regular basis. Good burgers, good chicken strip dinner, and of course, good ice cream. It's nothing fancy, but it's fast, inexpensive and yummy. Skip the chains and go to Big Al's.

My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Zion and decided to stay in Kanab for a few nights. We arrived in town around lunch time and decided to try Big Al's. We were so happy we did and we even came back the next day for dinner! Both times we enjoyed cheeseburgers with bacon. We also subbed BBQ sauce for ketchup and mustard which was a fantastic decision! The burgers were well portioned and fairly priced, not to mention extremely tasty! We also got one large order of French fries to share and they were very tasty as well. I loved the family feel of this establishment and would definitely recommend it to anyone I know going to Kanab!

I was the one that flagged the wrong address in late June 2014 after walking five blocks from my motel with a toddler in tow only to find Big Al's was actually about 1/2 mile away. Now Big Al's has two locations on Yelp; an "old" and a "new". Here's the "old" listing: yelp.com/biz/big-als-kan… . Sometimes Yelp can be really annoying and sometimes Yelpers are lazy; no one reviewing this business (for years) bothered to flag the old address. But I digress... Here's my review posted before they "moved" (which they didn't): We had buffalo burgers, sweet potato fries, and a grilled cheese for the kid. Counter help was friendly. Burgers were cooked fine, fries were great. Cheese was the cheap processed kind, which I expect at In-n-Out, etc. but seemed out of place here. The grilled cheese was something only a toddler would enjoy. Nice tall cups when ordering water. Clean dining room with booths, lots of obnoxious toy dispensers (gumball-type) are too distracting for small kids. Not amazing, not bad.

We were on the hunt for a good, juicy burger and totally nailed it when we found Big Al's. We both ordered cheeseburgers and a side of the sweet potato fries. Everything was juicy, delicious and fresh. FRESH burgers are hard to come by! Big Al's was perfect. Also, good ratio of lettuce and fixings to the meat itself. Please do yourself a favor (and your family) - and support this local business. We are from Sacramento, CA - and when we're looking for a good burger, we hit up our local family establishment. I have found when you find the right spot - the quality is very much worth it and the big chains just can't compare. Next time we're coming through Utah - we're hitting up Al's. Great service, great food. Thanks Big Al!

Small town place but conveniently located in the "junction" of national parks (i.e. Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and Zion). About 11 tables inside and several more outside. Quick service and good food. Ordered the Rustler, which is a double quarter pound burger with cheese ($5.60), Fish Sandwich ($3.54), and large Tots ($2.83). The Rustler was pretty average, but the Fish Sandwich was a bit bland. The tots were the best, though. Don't miss out on those! Homemade Fry Sauce is super good so pay the extra 15 cents to try some. It's just a mixture of thousand island dressing and ketchup but still good nonetheless.

Awesome food. When driving in from Lake Powell, please go with your gut, do yourself the favor and go past the Wendy's. Hit Big Al's Burgers just down the street. The service was amazing. Have yourself a Big Red which has bacon and ham. Support local businesses. Make it a point to avoid chain restaurants on your road trips and you'll find little gems like this. We'll definitely be back all the way from Miami. Thanks for the great eats!!!
