This place is such a gem! On the long drive between climbing destinations, this was a welcome respite. The food was great (definitely recommend the chips) and the beer mugs were tall and cold. What else could you ask for? I'm looking forward to visiting again next time I'm passing through!

It's okay compared to any other place in the county. It might be a 4 star for the area. I've been there a few times and each time is passable. I hope that doesn't sound too rude but I'm not sure how else to put it. I haven't really found a favorite on the menu so you might want to explore. Last time I was there I had the Turkey Club. It's more of a turkey melt than a club. No lettuce and tomato. Not as healthy as I wanted but good flavor, and a bit greasy. A little heavy for my taste but the bread was buttered nicely, which was a plus. The fries are homemade but were kind of hard, like if they were reheated. Otherwise I think they would have been great. They do serve breakfast all day so I'd like to try that. The people working there were friendly.

By far the best place I've eaten at outside the Salt Lake City Valley in Utah! This place has some very creative and delicious sandwiches. Burgers and even entrees for grown ups. When I came in to this establishment our group had already eaten breakfast so lunch was on our minds but all the surrounding tables had groups just finishing their breakfast. A quick glimpse at their plates had me really wishing we were a couple of hours early because this place had a breakfast that looked more delicious than perhaps anything I've ever paid someone to make me for breakfast. Helper is a small town with a lot if history and including one of the last working brothels in Utah and as well a place that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid have been known to frequent. The town as a whole really has potential that could really shine as a gem to the state if the right talent give it the attention. Balance Rock Cafe is great and on it's own produces good enough food that should be reason enough for folks from Provo and SLC to make a trip over to Helper. If I lived in Utah this would be one of those places I'd really push on people to try.

I was in and around price Utah for work and was really hungry for a good lunch nothing fast food. With the lack of choices in Price I found balanced rock and made the 7 minute drive and it was worth it. I loved everything from the minute I pulled up to the outdoor decor is a little intimate seating area on the side of the building to the fifties and sixties music that you can hear throughout in the local art work displayed throughout the restaurant. Jenny greeted me with a big smile bubbly personality and gave me recommendations. and I ultimately settled on the turkey bacon clubw/honey mustard with their signature chips. 1 word Heaven! When I travel I always try to go to local places and throughout all my travels of my 36 years on this earth I've never had a better turkey club the turkey was fresh like it it just been roasted and sliced that morning, the sourdough bread was perfect the bacon was crispy not greasy and I don't know what they put in those chips but they are absolutely amazing there crunchy yet they melt in your mouth. Go and check them out if you won't be disappointed there's something for everyone even the sweet tea with blackberry is delicious. Thank you Beilin rock for all you do and I will be coming back next time I'm in Utah!

Yummy breakfast and atmosphere! We didn't really know what to expect but I would take the train here just for this place!

Found this great spot on the way to Moab. Food was solid, service was great and got a bit of Utah history to boot. Burgers were tasty and their sides were enormous. Walked on Main Street after lunch to get a feel for an old mining town. Great place to break up the long drive.

Had the St Paddys Day special, Cornbeef and Cabbage with potatoes. Based on my location I was not expecting too much but was delightfully surprised by the appearance and taste of my dish. The potatoes were pretty much perfect. The cabbage was flavored so nicely. The cornbeef came with a knife but you didn't need one. Tasted very good. The service was friendly. Nice little spot. Glad I stopped in for a bite.

Surprisingly nice restaurant in the little mining town of Helper. Very good breakfast (served all day). We had an excellent Greek breakfast (scrambled eggs, piled on top of hash browns, flavored ground meat, some vegetables, etc.). It was delicious and enough for two of us to share. Dining area is big and open, so gets a bit noisy. My wife and I felt a bit uncomfortable with everyone in the restaurant staring at us like we had three heads. Not sure if it was because we were from out of town, our attire, or our ethnicity?

Stopped in on our way from Leadville, Co. to Seattle. My husband and I both had the fish and chips, my mom had the grilled chicken breast. She enjoyed it, probably tasty because of the butter, not exactly healthy. My mom's lettuce on her salad was a little soggy and looked old. The fish and chips were probably three out of five stars, however our wonderful server, Katie, added the additional star and the reason I rated it four stars. I screwed up my foot and it was really starting to swell, so I asked Katie for ice. She promptly brought it and pulled a nearby chair over so I could put my foot up. It's not exactly the way you want to sit and eat dinner but she didn't hesitate. Sometimes it's the little gestures that really make a meal worth it. Aside from accommodating my injury, she was very prompt with our drinks and food. She was also very friendly, her service was overall outstanding! The food wasn't bad but without Katie this place may have received 3 stars or even 2 stars! Thanks Katie!! Plus they have this scone thing, it's more like a donut without the hole, it's delicious but probably fried.

We stop here a few times a month and always have a nice time. It's very casual, local friendly feel to the place with interesting photos, not your typical chain food place. The food is quite good, bacon, sausage etc are better quality and they have items on the menu you won't find elsewhere. They serve breakfast all day and if you don't want toast, you can have a scone (Indian fry bread) or a huge pancake as big as a plate. The only thing I have ever been disappointed in here was the one time I ordered a slice of berry pie. Since I had always enjoyed the food I expected it to also be good. It was a pick up order so I didn't find out until I was at home, but the crust was nasty, to me it seemed the pie was only partially cooked. I couldn't eat it and pitched it. Not sure if it was just a one time thing or if they always have mushy thick doughy crust, maybe one day I'll order another slice but only if we will be eating there and I can take a look at it first. Seriously, the refrigerated crust you can buy in the grocery store would have been 10 times better. If I had family visiting here, this is a local place I would want to take them to, I know they would enjoy it. They also have entertainment some evenings.

The best place between Helper and Price to eat! Skip the subway in Wellington and eat here for the same price. The service and food were great. Get the homemade chips - they are realllllly good.

This is the best place to eat in the county. Okay I haven't eaten at every restaurant, but if you want reliably good food, friendly service, reasonable prices, and historic atmosphere, then go to Balance Rock Cafe.

The Balance Rock Eatery & Pub serves up some good food in a historic building on Helper's main street. Their menu features a wide variety of food with sandwiches like the patty melt and Germany dip that are really good. They also very good burgers. For desert get some apple pie, it's yummy. With friendly service, good food, and live music on the weekends this small town restaurant has a lot going for it.

Located in historic downtown Helper, the Balance Rock Eatery & Pub is a casual family restaurant with a little bit of history, art, and good American food. Unfortunately the live music wasn't playing from the balcony like it was the night before. However, the menu had plenty of choices, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. Breakfast is served all day and so I opted for the "Helper Special". The "Helper Special" consisted of 3 scrambled eggs, onions, cheese, and Kielbasa. It came with a side of crispy hash browns and my choice of toast, pancakes, and scones. After seeing the ginormous pancake, I was feeling some regret that I had opted for the scone. That is until I buttered the scone up, smothered it with honey and took the first bite. It was the best part of the meal. I've eaten here numerous times and will continue to go back. It's reasonably priced and the place is quaint.

Excellent food. Moved to Southern Utah a few years ago and cannot remember having a sandwich this good since leaving So Cal. In fact, cant ever remeber having a better sandwich anywhere and I am definately a foodie. I will be altering my travel plans in the future to hit this place again!

Really good food and good service. Cool building and interesting atmosphere in the restaurant with antiques everywhere (although I think the new owner is changing that). I'm very disappointed that they replaced their on-tap King's Peak Porter with the lackluster Viennese lager though. Yes, their pancakes are huge, and actually really good (I'm not generally a fan of pancakes but I like theirs).

It's a cool old building with great food and huge portions. I've stopped in a couple times for dinner when passing through town. I've only tried the German dip, its like french dip but with a lot of grilled onions and provolone cheese (doesn't really sound very German to me either) It's good though. Last week I finally had the chance to have breakfast, the lady offered toast or a pancake with my order, so I went with the pancake. It came out looking like the pancake from the movie "Uncle Buck" it was easily 12" across by 1/2" thick. In the movie uncle buck had to flip it with a snow shovel, they probably do here too, no spatula is that big. Anyway I ordered the Gomer Pile: Sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, & two eggs atop a pile of potatoes. I was hesitant at first cause I'm not a big link sausage fan, but they chopped them up and browned them and they were perfect. balancerockeatery.com is the website, cool pictures of the place.

This place is awesome! The food is fantastic and the service was top notch. The Balance Rock Eatery is located on the historic main street of Helper, UT, a place where very few business last, but this one's stood the test of time... The interior is very inviting, the ceiling must be 30 feet high! After eating, you can also visit a few antique shops that are very close by, as well as the Mining and Train Museum...

My family was coming back to Salt Lake from Colorado and getting really hungry, so we stopped in this little town called Helper; or the real Land of the Lost, as I like to call it. Main street was pretty much abandoned except for a bank and this place. We stopped in, and we loved it! It's a spacious restaurant that used to be a dance hall whenever it was first opened, and there are probably 3 levels to it. we just sat on the bottom one, but it was cool. I just got a burger and fries, but the portions were huge and it was delicious. The atmosphere is pretty fun too and it was great exploring the place after eating. They have a hand-crank elevator, but I was too scared to go on since my parents refused to go with me. Overall I had a great time and if I ever end up in Helper again, I'd like to eat there.

Delicious French fries and a friendly wait staff makes for a pleasant stop in Historic Helper. The decor is interesting with old-style flourishes that make you feel at ease. Not the best salads and the club sandwich I had was a tad heavy on the honey-mustard but it was all-around acceptable. A good lunch/dinner stop.

We were driving back from a business trip in Colorado. The yelp reviews were good, so we bypassed Price and stopped here. The place was packed because it was Cinco de Mayo. Service was about the slowest I've ever seen. The chips and salsa were good, but the food was only mediocre. It wasn't bad, just not great.
