My friends and I ate here after backpacking the Escalante River from town to the Hwy 12 bridge with some snowy weather and again after coming out the Crack-In-The-Wall route of Coyote Gulch. The chicken enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce is incredible! I love their homemade tortilla chips and their homemade guacamole. Georgie came out and offered to add just received portabellas to our meals. The interior is beautiful and we had fun watching the cats run around outside.

@Burbalicious X, no $h!t Sherlock, this ain't downtown Chicago! It's a tiny town of Escalante, UT, pretty much one of the last places in the US for civilization to settle! And George's is awesome! Great food, great service, and charming! They make their o

We had a terrific meal after checking where to eat with four locals and all four metioned Georgie's. Mexican for both of us. Definitely homemade. We are used to a more spicy Mexican food. But the flavors were great and we were happy. Homemade cookies and other bakery goodies, too.

Me and the fam had just finished the Calf Creek Falls hike in the rain and were hungry, cold and wet. The thought of driving 1.5 hours back to the hotel for dinner was NOT appealing, but it was too early for any of the other 2-3 restaurants in Escalante to be open for dinner. Lucky for us, Georgie's was open. She had a full menu of sandwiches and soups but being the California girl that I am, I had to go for the enchiladas. yum yum yum. And to top it off, Georgie is a local gal (San Jose). She was friendly and made us feel welcome and warm- check her out if you're heading out to Bryce Canyon or Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Went here twice in the 3 days we were in Escalante. Stopped in for a quick lunch of tacos. Then had to go back for dinner the next day for chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Love the salsa and homemade chips. Cute little place with comfortable atmosphere and friendly owners.

Best place to eat in Escalante as espoused by every local and tourist we met! Georgie's didn't disappoint us with her Mexican cuisine the equal of any to be found in the US. Her restaurant is eclectically decorated and very homey. I especially like the burrito and others loved the tacos. You get lots of food for a small price and most figure they can't finish it, but it is so good, you do.

A group of us were in town for a some canyoneering and wanted some dinner before going back to hotel (it was close to 6:30 PM and the power company was going to cut the electricity out to all the surrounding towns in the area). I had already checked the other reviews on Yelp. Basically this was the ONLY place in the area I could find that had reviews, and some of the locals had also recommended this place. The dinners are homemade, the pies are made by someone else and delivered. The restaurant is a converted house, a number of the rooms have been converted for storage with all the preparation and cooking in the kitchen. Georgie is very friendly, patient, and gives an honest opinion. The place is warm, friendly, with a homey feel to it, with the furniture, books, and scenes painted on the walls. Most of us ordered the special, the enchiladas and were very satisfied. A couple of us had pie for desert and they where quite good, but I've had better. IMO, you can't go wrong choosing this place, however I suggest going a bit earlier for dinner. By the time we had got there, some ingredients and some of the pies were no longer available.

It was pretty good - my husband really enjoyed his steak tacos, my chicken quesadilla was good but nothing special. They were out of guac when we got there for dinner (7:00?) - boo! It's basically the only place to eat in Escalante so definitely worth a visit, but it's probably not somewhere I'd eat if it was in, say, downtown Chicago.
